Jason Gardiner to make Dancing On Ice comeback

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Gardiner is set to return to ‘Dancing On Ice’.
The 45-year-old Australian, who frequently raised eyebrows with his outspoken criticism, is reportedly poised to return to the show’s judging panel following its three-year break from TV screens.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Producers know that he provides real entertainment value, even if he can be really harsh.
“He’s a natural TV personality and brings a pantomime villain character to the table, as well as being a genuine expert in his field.
“Everyone’s really excited about his big return, but are braced for fireworks.”
Jason will feature on the show’s judging panel alongside Olympic gold medal-winning duo Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, while ice dancer Sylvain Longchambon is to appear as a coach.
But Jason’s return is sure to attract the most interest, as the outspoken star has previously been at the centre of a number of infamous rows, including when he walked out on the programme in 2012.
Jason subsequently claimed ITV begged him to return, saying: “ITV did the show without me for a year and it obviously didn’t work, so they asked me back.
“They realised it desperately needed what I can bring and, in asking me to come back, they have admitted that they were wrong.
“On my first day, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean said to me, ‘You’re going to bring back the competitive element we’ve missed’.
“I give the celebrities the fear factor and the motivation to improve.”
Jason also rubbished criticism of his judging style.
He said: “I never patronise them. They have got enough judges on the panel who are going to do that and just tell them how wonderful they are all the time.”

Loose Women to get panel shake up

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Loose Women’ is set to get panel shake up.
Bosses of the lunchtime show are keen to boost ratings over the next few months and, despite its current success, are reportedly toying with the idea of axing some of the panelists who aren’t proving as popular with viewers anymore.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: “They will definitely axe an unpopular star.”
Producers are remaining tight-lipped on who will be dropped over the next coming months but it’s believed Ruth Langsford, Christine Lampard and Andrea McLean will remain as the show’s main hosts, while Coleen Nolan, Janet Street Porter, Stacey Solomon and Nadia Sawalha are also thought to be safe from the chop.
Katie Price – who was brought in as panellists last year – has proved a huge hit with viewers and is expected to continue on the show – depending on her work schedules.
This isn’t the first time bosses have decided to get rid of panelists as Jamelia was dropped last year after she made controversial comments about plus-sized clothing.
A source said previously: “Jamelia really annoyed bosses with her comments on high street shops selling bigger clothes. The show is often close to the bone but those comments were the final straw. ‘Loose Women’s viewers come in all shapes and sizes and the producers don’t want them to be offended.”
Vicky Pattison – who joined the programme around the same time as Katie – quit the show earlier this year because she didn’t feel experienced enough to comment.
She said previously: “I can’t thank the ‘Loose Women’ team and everyone at ITV enough for giving me such an amazing opportunity. But I think, for me, I tried to run before I could walk. I think maybe certain things were discussed and debates we’d have and I’d be desperate to get involved but feel like I didn’t really have an opinion on them. Things like marriage and kids, and at the time I couldn’t even get a lad to text me back. I was like, ‘I’m out. Nothing in my locker.’ I would love to go back.”

Danny Dyer to compete on I’m A Celebrity

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Dyer is reportedly set to compete on ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!’
The 40-year-old actor is rumoured to be jetting down under to take part in gruesome Bushtucker trials in the upcoming series of the popular ITV show, which is presented by comedy duo Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, The Daily Star has reported.
And, according to Betfair, the ‘Eastenders’ hardman – who portrays Mick Carter on the longstanding BBC soap – is a current favourite to take part in the programme with the betting odds standing at 2/1 for him to enter the jungle this year.
However, the dark-haired hunk has yet to confirm or deny whether he will be heading to the Australian outback in a bid to nab the title King of the Jungle.
Meanwhile, reality star Gemma Collins, who has made no secret that she’d like to head back into the outback later this year after she quit the creepy-crawly show a little prematurely in 2014, is set to make a sensational return to the show this year.
And it is believed bosses are keen to sign the ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ star up again after host Declan backed her return.
A source previously said: “Gemma has been backed by Dec, he thought she was really good [last time she was on] and he told Gemma she would be great if she came back to the show.
“She’s riding on the crest of a wave right now – she’s doing well on ‘TOWIE’, she massive on social media after all the memes and and everyone is a bit obsessed with her.
“She in talks to sign up but it’s early days. Nothing is set in stone yet.
“Producers know there’s a bit of heat around her right now so she would be great on the show. Gemma really wants a chance to prove herself and set the record straight.”
The next instalment of ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ will hit television screens in the autumn time but, as of yet, not much is known about the forthcoming series.

Harrison Ford won’t return to Star Wars

OHMYGOSSIP — Harrison Ford would “rather not” return to the ‘Star Wars’ franchise.
The 75-year-old actor starred as the iconic Han Solo in the original trilogy and reprised his role in 2015’s ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ but was shockingly killed by his own son Ben Solo/Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), with the Jedi apprentice turning to the Dark Side of The Force.
Ford has admitted he won’t return to the franchise now, and he admits it was the knowledge that Han would die which made a return appealing to him.
Speaking to GQ, Ford said: “I mean, I’m finished with ‘Star Wars’ if ‘Star Wars’ is finished with me. I can’t imagine it. But it’s science fiction. I’d rather not. You know, at this point I’d rather do something else. Just because it’s more interesting to do something new. It was proposed that I might make another appearance as Han Solo. And I think it was mentioned, even in the first call, that he would not survive. That’s something I’d been arguing for some period of time, so I said OK.”
Although his character died at the end of the last film, Rian Johnson – who helmed the newest movie ‘The Last Jedi’ – said Han will still have a major part in the upcoming movie.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in August, he said: “A figurative ghost of Han had to be present throughout this entire film. Kylo has definitely been knocked off base. The defeat that he had at the end of ‘The Force Awakens’, but even bigger than that, his huge defining act which, spoiler alert, is the murder of his father … that’s the more interesting thing to dive into.
“How has he dealt with that in his head? Where is he at in terms of that act and what does that mean for him?”
‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ hits cinemas this December and sees John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Dohmnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Andy Serkis and the late Carrie Fisher all reprising their roles from ‘Episode VII’.

John Landis told son Max not to remake An American Werewolf in London

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘An American Werewolf in London’ director John Landis told his son Max Landis not to remake the movie.
The iconic creature feature film hit cinemas in 1981 and made a huge splash in the horror genre, and when the ‘Chronicle’ writer asked for his dad’s blessing to reboot it he initially advised him to steer clear and admitted he has little involvement in the creative process for the forthcoming film.
But he is confident in Max’s ability to potentially turn the remake into something great.
Asked about his involvement in forthcoming Universal Studios movie, he said: “I get money. Truthfully, I’ve not seen his script. I advised him not to do it. I think he’s putting himself in a bad position. My son is brilliant, he really is, and he wants to do it. So what am I going to say? No?”
The original movie follows American backpackers David Kessler and Jack Goodman – played by David Naughton and Griffin Dunne respectively – who are attacked by a werewolf whilst hiking on the English moors. Jack is killed but David is saved by the locals who know of the beast’s existence but his fate is even worse as he is cursed to become a lycanthrope and goes on a killing spree in the UK capital.
It is considered a classic of the horror genre with its mix of scares and very dark humor and special effects artist Rick Baker used a number of revolutionary techniques such as robotic parts to create David’s transformation sequences earning him the Academy Award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling in 1982.
A sequel was made in 1997 by Anthony Waller entitled ‘An American Werewolf in Paris’ which followed an American tourist being attacked by a werewolf in a nightclub and starred ‘Modern Family’ actress Julie Bowen and Tom Everett Scott, and despite his reservations about his son tackling the franchise,
John – who famously directed Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller video’ – has nothing good to say about the follow-up film.
Speaking to Collider.com, he said: “I know it (the remake) won’t be as bad as ‘An American Werewolf In Paris’, which was s**t. So, I don’t know. He’s a great writer. He’s been writing since he was seven. He wrote a whole series of scripts about these characters called Yelp and Dopey, two dumb dogs, when he was under ten. They were so funny.”

Stan Lee confirms Marvel Studios want rights for Fantastic Four and X-Men

OHMYGOSSIP — Stan Lee has confirmed Marvel Studios are looking to get the rights back for ‘Fantastic Four’ and ‘X-Men’.
Both of the film franchises are currently owned by 20th Century Fox but the 94-year-old Marvel Comics legend – who is responsible for co-creating many of the company’s most famous characters, including the members of the two superhero squads – is optimistic that they will be returned to Marvel, according to comicbook.com.
Speaking at Wizard World Comic Con, in Nashville, Lee said: “Sooner or later, they’re going to get the rights back to all our characters. They’re working on it, and they’re still making ‘X-Men’ movies and stuff. Don’t worry about it. You’ll get more Marvel superheroes than you’ll have time to look at in the next few years.”
Although the ‘X-Men’ franchise has been quite successful with both the Bryan Singer trilogy and the ‘First Class’ movies, however, Marvel does still have an input while making the films.
Fox needs Marvel to sign off on all TV deals regarding the superheroes, however, since the Marvel owns ‘The Avengers’ there has been some overlap with characters such as Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch – who have been members of both teams in the comics.
Unlike the popular ‘X-Men’ franchise, the ‘Fantastic Four’ films haven’t been as popular at the box office.
In 2015, the franchise was rebooted starring Miles Teller, Jamie Bell, Kate Mara and Michael B. Jordan as the titular Four, however, the film was poorly received by fans and critics alike.
Fox owns the complete rights to the franchise and any new character within its universe belongs solely to the studio – which led to the cancellation of the ‘Fantastic Four’ comic series.
These two franchises are not the only Marvel comic book heroes that belong outside of the Marvel Studios, with ‘Spider-Man’ being owned by Sony Pictures.
However, 2017 saw the first time Marvel Studios and Sony have worked together on the fan favourite superhero after Marvel sold the rights in 1985 for $225,000, with ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’.
This collaboration meant that Tom Holland – who portrays the webslinger – is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe rather than Sony’s.

Stephen Frears praises Eddie Izzard’s performance in Victoria and Abdul

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephen Frears didn’t know what to expect from Eddie Izzard in ‘Victoria & Abdul’.
The 76-year-old filmmaker has helmed the true story about the relationship between Queen Victoria and her Indian servant Abdul Karim, but Frears admitted Izzard – who plays Edward VII – wasn’t his idea to cast.
Speaking to Den of Geek, the filmmaker said: “Eddie’s great, I don’t know where that came from. It wasn’t my idea, somebody else suggested him. ‘Oh, all right’. I don’t think I knew quite what to expect, and he was brilliant.”
Izzard is best known for his comic work but Frears admitted he likes the fact that his character is “the least comic character” in the film and revealed the comedian performed a gig for the cast while filming on the Isle of Wight.
He said: “I like the fact that he’s the least comic character in the film. He’s such a funny man, so funny on stage. It’s interesting, because I was just talking to him before I came I here, and he was saying that his aim is to be. He wanted to be a serious actor. He’s gone catastrophically wrong. I think he’s a genius as a comic.
“He did it one night for us in the Isle of Wight and he was just brilliant.”
The film stars an impressive cast including newcomer Ali Fazal and Dame Judi Dench – who has worked with Frears in five movies – and was described as the filmmaker as being a “doddle to direct”.
He said: “She’s such a powerful actress. She’s a doddle to direct. She’s so clear, and has such a strong sense of narrative.
“Her qualities as a human being that’s so affecting. She’s so interesting and such a brilliant actress.”

Jennifer Lawrence relied on the Kardashians during movie shoot

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lawrence turned to the Kardashians to maintain her sanity during the making of ‘Mother!’.
The 27-year-old actress stars in the new horror film – which is directed by her boyfriend Darren Aronofsky – and has admitted the gloomy nature of the movie caused her to turn to ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’.
During an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, Jennifer revealed: “I got to such a low point in the film emotionally that eventually I had to bring the Kardashians in.
“Not in person, obviously … I’ve never done something that horrifying.”
The Academy Award-winning actress explained that she had a tent set up where she could escape the darkness of her new movie.
Of her tent, she shared: “It was just a computer that was playing the ‘Kardashians’ with their headshots and it also had little notes to me, from them, that I had written.”
Meanwhile, Jennifer recently revealed she thinks her boyfriend is a “brilliant” director.
Asked what makes the filmmaker so great, the blonde beauty replied: “I mean, his point of view, his artistic uniqueness. He’s just brilliant. Incredibly instinctual.”
And Darren has been similarly complimentary about Jennifer, describing her as a “once-in-a-generation talent”.
He explained: “I don’t know what makes her great – maybe it was her parents, maybe it was the Kentucky water.
“I have no idea, but she’s, like, a once-in-a-generation talent, and just a whirlwind and a hurricane and an earthquake and a thunderstorm of talent.”

Taron Egerton punched in face by co-star Ed Holcroft on Kingsman

OHMYGOSSIP — Taron Egerton was punched in the face by his co-star Ed Holcroft while filming ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’.
The 27-year-old actor stars as Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin in the highly anticipated sequel to the 2014 hit movie and while filming the next instalment, Egerton was punched in the nose by Holcroft – who reprised his role as rival spy Charlie Hesketh.
Speaking to Shortlist Magazine, Egerton said: “Ed punched me full-on in the nose at one point, which I was really p***ed off about, because it had been a long day.
“I mean, I don’t want to demystify the thing too much but you know in those screen punches, it’s all very much to do with angles.
“Ed didn’t grasp that. Everyone re-watched it several times, my nose sort of going smash and wobble.
“It was tough. Ed’s a very, very close friend but you know what, people think that was a fake cab or we used tricks, but no. A real cab.”
Egerton stars alongside Channing Tatum, Halle Berry, Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore and Colin Firth – who is reprising his role as Harry Hart despite dying in the first movie.
After the filming the first movie, Egerton remained close friends with Firth and admitted he will still text him but joked the 57-year-old will always reply but depends how long he takes to do his tie.
He said: “I seek his company outside of work, I think the world of him, I text him and ask how he’s doing.
“I suppose it depends if his phone’s next to him or it’s take longer if he’s doing his tie.”
Although shooting to fame in the first ‘Kingsman’ movie which became an international success the actor claims he wouldn’t star in a film just because of the money.
He said: “I don’t think of a career chronology as a way to be happy, it’s things like having this freedom to feel good about what I’ve done.
“I don’t want to feel like I didn’t do something because I was scared, and I don’t want to do something purely because it pays the most dollars.
“Being able to make those decisions is what would make me happy.”

Wonder Woman hires 3 big writers for sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Wonder Woman’ bosses have hired three legendary writers for the sequel.
Patty Jenkins – who helmed the hit movie starring Gal Gadot earlier this year – reportedly signed a deal last week to front the follow up, but she won’t be doing it alone as she will team up with DC Entertainment’s creative chief Geoff Johns and David Callaham, who co-wrote the action movie ‘The Expendables’, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Details of the plot for the second film are being kept tightly under wraps but Jenkins recently said she’s keen to jump forward several decades from the first movie, which is set in Europe during WW1, and have it take place in America during the Cold War.
It was recently reported that Jenkins is set to earn around $8 million to write, direct and produce the much-anticipated film, which will make her the highest paid female director of all time, and she will also earn a percentage of the box office sales.
Rumours of Jenkins’ return to the franchise come shortly after the director admitted to being shocked by the positive reaction to ‘Wonder Woman’.
The moviemaker revealed she was expecting a “mixed bag” from fans and critics, but the reaction to the superhero film has been overwhelmingly positive.
She explained: “I went into the release of the movie assuming it would be, in best case, a mixed bag. And I sort of braced myself for it, where I thought, well, ‘Listen, you’re doing a beloved superhero; it’s always going to end up being at least 40 percent, oh you could have done, blah blah blah.'”
She’s also thrilled about how much ‘Wonder Woman’ has prompted debates about gender equality issues.
She said: “The support and positivity that the movie has received, and also just the people wanting to talk about what we wanted to talk about in the movie and not other things, has been stunning.”

Linda Nolan inspired by late sister Bernie

OHMYGOSSIP — Linda Nolan is inspired by her late sister Bernie as she continues her difficult battle with cancer.
The 58-year-old singer – who previously suffered from breast cancer, which claimed the life of her sibling – was diagnosed with an incurable form of the illness earlier this year, and has admitted she regularly visits Bernie’s headstone to have a chat.
Speaking on ‘Loose Women’ on Thursday (14.09.17), she said: “I always hear Bernie in my head going ‘Come on, you silly child, get out of bed, sort yourself out’.
“She was an absolute inspiration to all of us … We knew she was this feisty little thing, the last person standing at the party, and when she went through this, she was exactly the same.
“She was better at it than me, I think. But I have drawn a lot from her … Sometimes I go up and talk to her in the cemetery.”
The brave star admitted it’s extremely hard battling the illness and “wouldn’t wish it” on her “worst enemy.”
She said: “It’s a scary place to be. I am alright, but there’s a bit of me that isn’t, really.”
Linda recently admitted she tried to kill herself when she was first diagnosed with cancer.
On top of battling breast cancer for five years from 2006, her husband Brian Hudson died in 2007, and she didn’t think she could go on without him and just wanted to be reunited with him in heaven.
She admitted: “It’s kind of ironic that seven years ago, there was a time when I was suicidal, and wanted to die, and wanted to be with Brian and did consider taking my own life.
“Thankfully I got help. There is something else after grief and depression.”

Jorgie Porter: American men don’t get my humour

OHMYGOSSIP — Jorgie Porter has been on some dates with American men during her time in the US – but none of them have worked out because they “don’t get her sense of humour.”
The 29-year-old actress has been across the pond on and off for the last year while taking part in acting workshops and dance classes and, although she wasn’t actively looking to find a partner, she found herself going on a number of dates, but she has found the majority of them awkward as none of them seem to understand her jokes.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, she said: “I was over there for acting classes. I went back to doing what I love doing – learning, dance classes, working out a lot, acting classes, acting with a lot of Americans which was kind of bizarre, dating American men. I did that for revision reasons. Dating American men is different – they don’t get my humour. Maybe nobody does. They got my accent – they liked that.”
But it’s not just her sense of humour that’s preventing her from finding love with a hunky American, as her globe-trotting career, in which she travels back and forth to England quite a few times, is also proving an issue for some potential suitors.
She said: “Because I’m across two countries is one of the reasons why I didn’t carry on dating one of the guy. He was in England for ever and that’s what he wanted to do so it’s hard to find a guy that just wants to do what I want to do.”
And it’s going to prove even harder as the former ‘Hollyoaks’ star isn’t planning to “settle anywhere yet” as she thoroughly enjoys travelling and meeting new people.
She said recently: “I would never say never to moving to the US, but to be honest I would never give up any other country, I love travelling. I love Canada and I love all these different places I’ve never visited. I don’t know if I would settle anywhere yet.”

Shirley Ballas taught Tom Cruise to dance

OHMYGOSSIP — Shirley Ballas taught Tom Cruise how to dance.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ head judge – who has taken over from Len Goodman on the ballroom and latin show after he stepped down at the end of last year – was hired by the Hollywood hunk, 55, because he wanted to serenade his then-wife Nicole Kidman, whom he was married to from 1990 until 2001, on one of their anniversaries.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, she said: “I taught Tom Cruise to dance. I gave him sales and mambo lessons when he was with Nicole Kidman. He wanted to surprise her for one of their anniversaries. He was good – mind you, I was his teacher! He certainly knew that routine when he walked out of that door.”
And with all her experience under her belt, it’s no wonder bosses of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ snapped her up to front the judging panel on this year’s current series.
But, although she’ll be sitting behind a desk for most of the time, the 56-year-old choreographer hasn’t ruled out the possibility of finding love on the show.
She teased to The Sun newspaper: “Who could be the next ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ couple to get married? I’m not sure.
“Could it be me? You’ll just have to watch this space.”
Shirley has been single since she split from her husband Corky Ballas, whom she was married to for almost 20 years, in 2007 after he ran off with Kristina Rihanoff.
Corky, who has grown-up son Mark with Shirley, met the professional dancer – who is now dating rugby hunk Ben Cohen – in 2003 when he became her dance teacher.
They then embarked on a romance and Shirley filed for divorce from Corky in 2007.
But, despite being love rivals, there is no bad blood between the two ladies and Shirley has even had lunch with Kristina in the past to make sure all is forgiven.
She explained recently: “I’ve had lunch with Kristina. I’m a people person. I love people. It would be absolutely fine if Kristina rejoined ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ as a professional. I have no issues with anybody being on the show at all.”

Gemma Collins to return to I’m A Celeb jungle

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins is set to make a sensational return to the ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ jungle.
The ‘Only Way is Essex’ star has made no secret that she’d like to head back into the outback later this year after she quit the creepy-crawly show a little prematurely in 2014, and now it looks like her wish has been granted as bosses are keen to sign her up after host Declan Donnelly backed her return.
A source told The Sun Online: “Gemma has been backed by Dec, he thought she was really good [last time she was on] and he told Gemma she would be great if she came back to the show.
Gemma hit the headlines three years ago when she agreed to take part in the series, set in the Australian jungle, but refused to parachute into camp with her cast mates due to her anxiety and then pulled out of the programme after spending just 72 hours in the outback.
The 36-year-old blonde babe claimed at the time her exit was due to “health issues” and, although she wasn’t in camp for very long, she was so “scared” of the gruelling challenges.
She said recently: “I think people think I’m so confident. They probably look at me and think I don’t doubt myself but actually I do, so when they said I was going into the jungle, I was so scared because I’ve been there once, I sort of know what to do again. I would probably be terrible at the challenges.”
This isn’t the first time bosses have asked Gemma to return to the jungle as they also approached her in 2015 – a year after her original stint – but she turned them down due to issues going on at home.
She explained: “Do you know what? I was meant to go back in the jungle the year after I came out but it didn’t happen. There’s something that went on that not too many people know about – The night before I went in the jungle. But if it came up again, why not?”
The next instalment of ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ will hit television screens in the autumn time but, as of yet, not much is known about the forthcoming series.

Doctor Who Christmas special to be ‘dark and sinister’

OHMYGOSSIP — Steven Moffat has teased the ‘Doctor Who’ festive special will be “dark and sinister”.
The 55-year-old departing show runner – who will hand over the reins to Chris Chibnall at the end of the year – has promised fans that the forthcoming episode, which will air on Christmas Day (25.12.17), will be different from previous years and won’t be as tear-jerking and joyous as some people may expect considering it’ll be the last time viewers see Peter Capaldi as the time-travelling alien.
When asked how he and ‘Sherlock’ co-creator Mark Gatiss have balanced the detective’s selfish tendencies with his good nature, Moffat spoke about the Doctor in comparison to reluctant hero and told press at the London Screenwriters’ Festival: “Why would Superman be good? Because kindness stops you being lonely, would be the answer. That’s what that’s about, for Sherlock Holmes. He’s good because for all he protests about it, there are people he cares about. So, kindness is what makes a unit of us. So if you are sane and rational, kindness is by far the best path. There isn’t anything rational about being vile and awful and evil. It’s not actually a good strategy.
“Prepare for that to be contradicted on ‘Doctor Who’ on Christmas Day…”
But, although Moffat has given fans the stark warning, Peter recently teased that his last scene in which his alter-ego regenerates into the new Time Lord (Jodie Whittaker), will be emotional because of the way the screenwriter has written it.
He said recently: “I felt Steven [Moffat] had written something very beautiful, and very right for my Doctor, so I was just happy to try and do my best with it.”
Meanwhile, Moffat – who has worked as executive producer on the show since 2009 – recently revealed he saved the festive episode from getting the chop after he learnt that bosses were toying with the idea of taking it off the agenda this year because Chibnall wanted to start in January with series 11 rather than pick up in 2017.
The talented writer was concerned that the festive special would never make it back on screen if they temporarily pulled the plug on it this year and, although he was willing to step in, he had to persuade Peter to continue for a few more months.
