Aaron Chalmers quits Geordie Shore?

OHMYGOSSIP — Aaron Chalmers has suggested he is quitting ‘Geordie Shore’.
The 30-year-old reality star – who joined the fly-on-the-wall programme in April 2014 – thinks it is time to “step out” of the show and allow younger cast members to take over the spotlight.
He told Mail Online: “Geordie Shore is my job, that’s what has made us, but obviously I’m 30 now and I have a girlfriend, so maybe it’s my time to step out of Geordie Shore and let somebody younger come in.”
And Aaron thinks the audience are probably not that interested in him either.
He added: “I’ve done what I need to do on there. You have to understand the show doesn’t grow old, but we do. Six years ago it was fun, but we’re getting older. The audience is getting younger and we’re getting older.’
The tattooed hunk – who knocked out his MMA opponent Alex Thompson in just 30 seconds at his second-ever professional bout at the SSE Arena, Wembley, in London on Friday (15.09.17) – insisted he is “grateful” for his stint on the show and all the opportunities it has given him.
He added: “I’m very grateful for everything that has happened. ‘Geordie Shore’ has given us the opportunity to do what I’m doing now.
‘When I first started ‘Geordie Shore’, I never thought I would be on the billboard to fight at Wembley. It’s all a bit surreal still.”
Aaron, who has been nicknamed ‘The Joker’, admitted he’d been worried about his opponent after he went down.
He said: “I don’t really want to physically hurt someone… as soon as I saw he was alright, my nerves settled a little bit. It is a bit worrying.”

Debbie McGee wants to do better than Paul Daniels on Strictly

OHMYGOSSIP — Debbie McGee wants to do better than her late husband Paul Daniels on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 58-year-old magician’s assistant is hoping she and Giovanni Pernice will be on the show for longer than the two weeks managed by her beloved spouse – who died last year – when he competed with Ola Jordan in 2010, though she still thinks he did well to last even that long.
She said: “Paul would love the act I have been asked to be part of ‘Strictly’. I’m hoping to last a little longer [than he did].
“But he did really well as he did have two left feet and he couldn’t hear the music but he managed to keep in time.”
Despite Paul’s past experience on the show, Debbie admits she didn’t know too much about it until signing up herself.
She said: “My only involvement then was that I came to the studio and he was only in it for a couple of weeks. So I knew there was a big buzz about the show but I wasn’t part of the ‘Strictly’ family. We are just having a ball.”
While Debbie can’t wait to get started on the show, she is concerned about mastering the Latin dances because of her ballet dancing past.
She told OK! magazine: “I’m worried about the Latin because 35 years ago I trained at the Royal Ballet. I’m very upright from those years. But I think we are all just going for it.”

Liz Dawn home from hospital

OHMYGOSSIP — Liz Dawn has returned home from hospital.
The ‘Coronation Street’ legend – who quit her role as Vera Duckworth due to ill health in 2008 after 34 years on screen – suffers from lung condition emphysema and was rushed to a Manchester medical facility suffering from chest pains and fluid on her lungs, but was discharged on Friday (15.09.17) after spending two weeks under the care of doctors.
And the 77-year-old star’s husband, Don Ibbotson, says she’s getting better every day, though he admitted he did fear the “worst” at one point.
He told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “We’re so relieved to have her back home.
“At one point she took very bad and we thought the worst but she fought back, it’s amazing and now she seems to be getting stronger by the day.”
However, the veteran actress is still “very poorly”.
A source added: “She is still very poorly but she’s fighting all the way and it is better for her to be here in her own place.”
Liz has been housebound for several weeks and been using a wheelchair, and in June, she missed the wedding of her grandson, Thomas Borso, to Alice Coughlin in Italy after having surgery related to a heart condition.
She said at the time: “I’ve got no energy but once the operation is done I will be looking forward to being as back to my normal self and getting my energy back.”
In 2013 she had a pacemaker fitted after suffering a heart attack while on holiday in Spain.
She admitted shortly afterwards: “My health is very bad these days.”
Liz first appeared on ‘Corrie’ in 1974 and her partnership with Bill Tarmey, who played Jack Duckworth was a huge hit with fans for years.
Although her character was killed off in 2000, dying peacefully in her sleep, she made a brief reappearance as a vision to Jack as he passed away in a moving scene which saw them share one last dance.
Bill died in 2012.

Jake Quickenden proposed to girlfriend in front of dead relatives

OHMYGOSSIP — Jake Quickenden proposed to his girlfriend in front of pictures of their deceased relatives.
The former ‘X Factor’ contestant popped the question to Danielle Fogarty – who he has been dating for two years – on his birthday on September 3 at his favourite wine bar, and wanted to make sure those they had loved and lost were part of the special moment, so had photos of his girlfriend’s beloved grandmothers Jean and Pat and his own dad Paul and brother Oliver, 19, placed on their table.
Danielle said: “The pictures set us off..”
Jake added: “I wanted my dad, brother and Danielle’s grandparents to share in our joy. When big milestone moments happen, their absence is felt all the more.”
And the couple’s joy was also shared by their immediate families within 20 minutes of celebrating with a bottle of champagne.
Jake told HELLO! magazine: “Danielle always said she wanted her family around when she gets engaged and I felt the same. We’re both really close to our families so as soon as everyone walked around the corner, we were both crying again.”
The surprises didn’t end there, as the couple then returned to their house in Mellor, Blackburn, where over 30 of their friends and family members were waiting to celebrate their engagement.
And Jake had confided in all of them about his proposal plans.
He quipped: “If I’d said the invite was for my birthday, nobody would have turned up.”
The hunky singer opted to propose on his birthday so he could “get away” with acting oddly.
He said: “From the moment we met, I knew I’d propose one day and I chose to do it on my birthday because I knew I could get away with being a bit sneaky.”

Nicolas Cage opens up about ‘Mom and Dad’ hurdles

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicolas Cage reveals “nobody” wanted to make ‘Mom and Dad’.
The 53-year-old actor has admitted it was difficult to get anyone on board the horror movie – which sees him play a father named Brent who is on the cusp of hitting a mid-life crisis – to help produce the movie as Voltage passed up on the chance of backing the project, which was eventually snapped up by entertainment agencies XYZ and Armory Films.
Speaking to Deadline Online about the hurdles faced with the production, he said: “Nobody wanted to make this movie.”
And the ‘National Treasure’ star believes his latest venture with director Brian Taylor – who created the horror movie which was released earlier this month – was his time to “exercise [his] belief in freedom of speech”.
Nicolas continued: “I saw this as my right to exercise my belief in freedom of speech. This was Sex Pistols from start to finish, this is punk rock.”
Nicolas and Brian have previously worked with one another on ‘Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance’, and the movie legend believes the pair work well as a team because he needs little direction when the duo are on set together.
He explained: “He [Brian] knows how serious I am about the work. I know how serious he is about his vision. I fit in very easily with Brian. He doesn’t have to direct me much, he just lets me go. It’s like Kurosawa and Mifune.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Con Air’ star – who has sons Kal-El, 11, with his wife Alice Kim, and 26-year-old Weston with Christina Fulton – has revealed he embarked on a career in the entertainment industry because he wants to “rock” and “shock” his audiences.
Speaking about his career at the helm of the film industry, he said: “That’s why I got in the movie business, I want to rock you, I want to shock you,”

Stephen King terrified by it

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘It’ author Stephen King was terrified by the changes made to the latest adaptation of his classic novel.
The iconic horror writer didn’t have huge involvement in the writing of the big screen take on his 1986 book, but producer Barbara Muschietti has revealed he certainly approved of new ‘scares’ she and her brother – director Alex – put into the movie.
Referring to a scene in which one of the young children was terrorised by a woman from an old painting, she told Collider: “Stephen King, the first email he sent to Andy when he had seen the movie, the one fear he wrote back, he said, ‘I f***ing love the woman in the painting, it scared the s**t out of me.’ ”
The fearful moment wasn’t in the novel – nor was it included in the 1990 mini-series starring Tim Curry as Pennywise – but the siblings took influence from their own lives to give the film their own twist.
Barbara added: “For instance, our mom had a print of a Modigliani painting at home and actually, there’s a bit of a precedence in Mama there; Mama looks very Modigliani-esque.
“It was something that terrified Andy always, that print, and here you see it in the form of Judith. Judith is that fear for Andy.
“And then, the hair, for instance, with Beverly, that was actually a combined [effort] … I collaborated there because I felt very attached to her hair and when she cut it, I felt that her hair should come back for her. That it wouldn’t be so easy to get rid of, you know, of womanhood, that it was coming back for her.”

Taron Egerton idolises Colin Firth

OHMYGOSSIP — Taron Egerton idolises his ‘Kingsman co-star Colin Firth.
The 27-year-old star is in awe of Firth and admits he finds it impossible to hide his admiration for the Oscar-winning actor.
He said: “I think even if I tried to pretend that I don’t like Colin, I wouldn’t get very far.
“I’ve seen so many shots of me looking like I want to marry him.
“He’s just every bit as affable and pleasant and kind as he seems. He has this persona of being a landed gentry type, but he’s very down-to-earth and sweet and cool.
“He’s just a dad, a family man who occasionally pretends to be a super spy.”
As well as working with Colin in the spoof spy franchise, Taron’s canine sidekick, JB the pug, will also be back for sequel ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’, and the Welsh actor enjoys shooting with the dog, though there is one drawback.
He explained: “I like working with the pug. But you have to feed him bits of hot dog to make him do what you want and it makes your fingers stink. The pug I really love, the hot dolls, not so much.”
The Welsh actor – whose three-movie contract is rumoured to be in contention to be extended to six – loves working on the saga, but finds it tough to stay in shape.
He said: “I try my best and exercise pretty much all the time, but in terms of leaving beer alone, I struggle a bit really.”
The upcoming sequel will also feature the likes of Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore, Channing Tatum and Halle Berry and Taron admitted it has the same feel as the first film, but with a few differences.
He told Britain’s Glamour magazine: “It’s still very much a quintessentially British thing, but maybe a bit more Brits abroad this time.
“Maybe a bit more French Riviera. But it’s still very much us in our immaculately tailored suits, but in the field, and yes there is an American element.”

Claire Foy confirmed to star in ‘The Girl in the Spider’s Web’

OHMYGOSSIP — Claire Foy is set to star in ‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’ sequel.
The 33-year-old actress has been confirmed to portray the skilled computer hacker Lisbeth Salander in ‘The Girl in the Spider’s Web’, which was previously played by Rooney Mara, and the movie will be directed by Fede Alvarex, Variety Online has reported.
The ‘The Crown’ star had been tipped to take on the role back in May this year, and four months later the casting has finally been confirmed.
And Claire will start filming for the production in January next year, which will see her jet off to Berlin and Stockholm to meet the release date on October 19, 2018.
And the 39-year-old filmmaker is “thrilled” to have Claire on board the project to take over the reins of the “iconic” protagonist.
He said: “I couldn’t be more thrilled about Claire taking the reins of the iconic Lisbeth Salander.”
And the ‘Don’t Breathe’ creator has hailed the star has an “incredible, rare talent”, who he hopes will inject a “new and exciting life” into Lisbeth.
He continued to praise the star. Fede said: “Claire is an incredible, rare talent who will inject a new and exciting life into Lisbeth. I can’t wait to bring this new story to a worldwide audience, with Claire Foy at its center.”
The upcoming follow up to the 2011 mystery movie, which will be based on novel of the same name penned by David Lagercrantz, will be backed by Sony pictures’ Millennium franchise.
‘The Girl in the Spider’s Web’ will mark the first movie in the series to be adapted into an English-language movie first, as the previous texts in the franchise have been made into productions.

Jennifer Metcalfe describes pregnancy as a ‘nine month hangover’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Metcalfe has likened her pregnancy to a “nine month hangover”.
The 35-year-old actress – who is known for playing Mercedes McQueen in ‘Hollyoaks’ for over 10 years – welcomed her three-month-old son Daye into the world in June this year, but she is “glad” she has finally given birth because she felt “pants every day” when she was carrying her first child, who she has with her partner Greg Lake.
Speaking to the Mail Online, the brunette beauty said: “I just felt pants every day. I just felt like I had a nine month hangover without the fun in-between obviously. Every day I just felt a bit sick.
“Basically I had a bit of every pregnancy symptom you can get. I had a bit of constipation, I was beyond tired, the nausea was the worst because that started after six weeks and went right through until the end. I’m glad it’s over.”
The Bradford-born star has revealed she feels the most confident in her skin now than she ever has done before.
She explained: “I think I always feel confident now, I guess I don’t care as much as I get older. I do care about my health and I don’t want to be severely overweight or underweight but I think as long as it’s functioning properly and I’m at a nice healthy weight then I don’t really care if I look absolutely perfect in a bikini.
“For the last few years I’ve felt very confident in my own skin and since having the baby and I suppose seeing what the woman’s body can do I’ve got a new found respect for it.”
Jennifer is set to return to the Channel 4 soap in June, but the star has not thought about work as she is entirely consumed with her son.
She said: “I haven’t thought about it at all, I haven’t thought about much else other than Daye. It’s hard work being a mother so he’s just had my full attention and I haven’t had time to think of much else.”

Ruth Langsford’s son helps her practice for Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Ruth Langsford’s son has been helping her rehearse for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 57-year-old presenter thought 15-year-old Jack – who she has with her husband Eamonn Holmes – would have been “embarrassed” about her appearing on the show, but he’s been very supportive when it comes to helping her master her routines.
She said: “Jack has been practising with me. He is a drummer so he has got lots of rhythm. He has been doing the cha-cha-cha steps with me. He has been surprisingly encouraging for a 15 year old. I thought he might be a bit embarrassed.”
But Ruth hasn’t been getting much help from her husband.
She said: “Eamonn loves music but he isn’t a keen dancer. He will do it if he is forced but he would rather be at the bar with his brothers than on the dancefloor with me.”
However, she admitted she wouldn’t be surprised if the popular presenter signs up for next year’s show because of his competitive nature.
She told OK! magazine: “His name has been put in the mix a few times but he has just had two new hips so it is early days yet. But after this year and I bring home the Glitterball with me, he might get jealous and do it next year.”
While Ruth – who will be partnered by Anton du Beke – couldn’t be more excited about competing on the show, she’s not yet ready to embrace skimpy costumes.
She said: “I think I am going to be eased into the more risque costumes.
“My red carpet outfit [for the launch show] was risque enough for me. It was off the shoulder, low and tight. But I think they might get more risque as the series goes on.”

Freddie Flintoff: ‘I don’t fully understand how I keep getting work’

OHMYGOSSIP — Freddie Flintoff “doesn’t fully understand” how he has landed his TV shows.
The 39-year-old former England Cricket player is set to host the new programme ‘Cannonball’, but the sportsman is surprised with how his life has planned out as he never thought he would have to give up playing cricket and become a television presenter.
Speaking to The Sun’s TV magazine, he said: “I thought I’d still be playing cricket until about now. But instead I’m on ITV on Saturday nights presenting ‘Cannonball’, which is bonkers really.
“The way life’s turned out has been completely different to how I thought. I love playing cricket. I’d swap it all to play again, to be honest – it’s not an option, though.
“I don’t fully understand how I keep getting work, I’ll be really honest with you.”
And Freddie only hopes his career in the entertainment business will have more longevity than his time on the cricket field.
He added: “But I’m pleased I do. If I’m into something, I’m in, I can’t do anything half-hearted. I’m hoping this part of my career’s going to be longer than my cricket career, so it will be interesting to see where it ends up.”
Freddie – who has 13-year-old daughter Holly, as well as sons Corey, 11, and Rocky, nine, with his wife Rachael – has revealed his children find it “embarrassing” that he is on the small screen, although he has described his brood as his “worst critics”.
Freddie explained: “My daughter thinks I’m embarrassing because I’ve been on TV [in Sky1’s ‘A League Of Their Own: Road Trip’] performing with the Chippendales, dressed up in drag and having mud baths with Jack Whitehall. The boys think it’s funny-ish.
“Most of the things I do the kids don’t watch – they can’t see ‘A League Of Their Own’ – but ‘Cannonball’ is a family show.
“My kids are my worst critics, though, they’ll tell me exactly what they think. They take the Mickey out of me because I don’t think they understand what I do as a job.
“It’s quite a tough sell. They see other parents dropping their kids off at school in suits and working 9-5, that’s not what I do.”

Gemma Collins to break US

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins plans to break America.
The ‘Only Way is Essex’ star sees herself as the “girl version” of talk show host James Corden and has been in talks for a reality show in the States.
She said: “America is kind of the long-term plan for me. I’m a bit like James Corden, but the girl version. When the time is right, it will happen, I’d have to get the Hllywood sign changed to say Gemmawood.
“I think America would think I’m hilarious. I was contacted by the people behind Mama June – they want to do her whole weight-loss transformation thing with me.
“My manager’s sorting it out now. Hopefully it will work out. You know what it’s like with the agents.”
And the 36-year-old former car sales woman thinks people like her because she is so straight-talking.
She told heat magazine: “I’m just straight-talking. I’m not one of those people who wants to say something but doesn’t. I just say it. I don’t hold back.
“If you look nice, I tell you. You’re always going to get the truth from me.
“I’ve had a lot of people treat me like s**t and I worked a normal job before I got famous. I just feel like I don’t have to pussyfoot around other people anymore – I’ve earned my divaship…
“A diva ain’t someone shouting, being difficult. For me, it’s someone who has been through a lot in their life and, no matter what, they carry on going.
“I think too many people spend their lives not being ho they want to be or not saying what they think. What’s the point? Everyone has an opinion, so use it and own it.”

Stormzy to be a guest judge on The X Factor

OHMYGOSSIP — Stormzy is set to be a guest judge on ‘The X Factor’.
The 24-year-old grime artist is reportedly set to accompany fellow musician Nicole Scherzinger on the popular talent show, and will jet off to South Africa with the brunette beauty to help whittle down the contestants during the Judges’ Houses auditioning process next week.
And it is believed the ‘Shut Up’ hitmaker – who is currently dating Maya Jama – will prove to be a good critique as he “speaks straight from the heart.”
Speaking about the British rapper’s next venture and involvement in this season’s show to The Sun newspaper, a source said: “Stormzy is the man of the moment and will also make great telly.
“He speaks straight from the heart and won’t pull any punches.”
And music mogul Simon Cowell is looking forward to seeing the “onscreen chemistry” between Stormzy – whose real name is Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Junior – and the former Pussycat Dolls band member.
The insider added: “Simon is looking forward to seeing his onscreen chemistry with Nicole.”
Whilst Stormzy is on hand to share his opinions on the contestants with Nicole, who will be mentoring the Overs category, Simon is believed to get the advice of former ‘The X Factor’ panellist Cheryl Tweedy.
However, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh’s guests have yet to be confirmed.
And Nicole, who previously guided James Arthur and Matt Terry to victory, is sceptical about her chances of triumphing again with one of her hopefuls.
Speaking previously, the ‘Don’t Hold Your Breath’ hitmaker said: “I’m always very competitive. I put a million per cent into everything I do, but two years in a row? I don’t know about that.”
And the artist is already backing someone from one of the other groups to win this year’s series.
She added: “It’s interesting because I have a feeling about somebody who is going to win – but they’re not in my category.
“I’m upset because [the producers] were going to give me a category and I said, ‘No, I want this one instead’. I got what I wanted but I really should have had what they were going to give me.”

James ‘Arg’ Argent hopes his nose job will make him a better kisser

OHMYGOSSIP — James ‘Arg’ Argent hopes his new nose job will make him a better kisser.
The 29-year-old reality star went under the knife as part of the “final step in [his] transformation”, after he dropped a dramatic four stone in weight, and though the star is “feeling so happy” and “more confident” with his appearance now, his only hope is that the surgery will improve his romantic life too.
Speaking to The Sun Online about the operation, the ‘Celebs Go Dating’ lothario said: “I’m feeling so happy with my nose and so much more confident now. This is just another example of me bettering myself, it looks exactly how I wanted it to. I’m losing all the weight, and in such a great place mentally now, so this feels like the final step in my transformation.
“When I used to kiss girls my nose was so big that it would sometimes end up poking them in the eye. I’d then try and angle it right so we could have a proper kiss, but then it would get caught on her nose too, so I’m really hoping now it’s a bit smaller that will no longer be an issue.”
The ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ star has admitted after the two-hour operation with Doctor Frati, which saw the bump on the top of his nose cut down and his nostrils pinched in, he didn’t recognise himself and panicked by the huge amount of swelling around his face.
He explained: “I did panic when I first saw it, as there was so much swelling.
“I didn’t even recognise myself as obviously it was such a big operation and there was loads of swelling, plus five stitches up each nostril, and it really changed my face for a few days.
“However Dr Frati is one of the best and now some of the swelling has gone down I can clearly see he’s given me exactly what I wanted – it’s natural, manly, and hasn’t changed my face, I still look like me.
“It’ll take up to a year for the swelling to completely go, but it’s already clear to see that it looks great.”
The television personality forked out a whopping £6,500 on the surgery, but he insists he has no plans to have any other modifications done in the future.
He said: “There’s no way I’ll be getting any more work done.
“I’m really happy with myself now, and just can’t wait to be able to get back in the gym after having to take two weeks off.”
