Bertie Carvel had to ‘persuade’ himself to take on Doctor Foster role

OHMYGOSSIP — Bertie Carvel needed to “persuade” himself to play the “complex human being” in ‘Doctor Foster’.
The 40-year-old actor portrays Suranne Jones’ on-screen ex-husband Simon Foster – who cheated on her with Jodie Comer’s character Kate Parks in the BBC One drama – and the star has admitted he had to “think carefully” about taking on the role of the unfaithful, revenge-seeking former partner because he wanted to bring “something special” to his character.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’ on Tuesday (03.10.17) about the gripping programme, which comes to an end tonight, he said: “I always think carefully about whether or not I’ve got something I want to say, whether I think I can do something special, and I think carefully about that. I love Mike’s plays, and it was a great part.
“For me it was more a question of ‘Is the show determined that this guy is a villain or is there a nuanced three dimensional person in there?’ Why does he hate her, it’s complex. He hates her, he loves her. Because he loves her, he hates her. He’s incredibly angry not just at Gemma but at himself. And all of these things that make up a complex human being, and make it such a fun part to play, and I needed to persuade myself and the team that that was what we were trying to get at. And he’s not a two-dimensional bad guy.”
Bertie thinks the series is about “justice” and he believes writer Mike Barlett has appealed to the “nation’s appetite for revenge” in both seasons, although he hopes “redemption” will be possible for his character.
He said: “It’s about justice. It’s about revenge and what should happen when things go wrong. I think that Mike Bartlett is writing something in conversation with the nation’s appetite for revenge. I would like to think redemption is possible for anyone at any stage.”
And Bertie has remained tight lipped about whether a third season is on the cards.
He said: “Your guess is as good as mine. This may be my final ever appearance on television, so how could I comment on a third series.”

EastEnders’ Stacey Fowler to have kids taken away

OHMYGOSSIP — EastEnders’ Stacey Fowler is set to be struck yet another devastating blow later this month when her children are taken away by social services.
The stay-at-home mum – portrayed by Lacey Turner – will have a difficult fight on her hands next week when her son Arthur’s grandmother Carmel Kazemi (Bonnie Langford) reports her to child services after she spots bruises on the baby’s body.
Speaking to the Radio Times magazine, Bonnie said: “She doesn’t know what it is, but she knows that it’s not normal bruising and she’s very worried.
“Carmel’s trying to help and she thinks that she’s being useful, but she should have checked her facts more. Although, you can’t totally blame her – what if she was right? To Carmel, each time she’s seen Stacey recently all the signs to her are that Stacey is not coping – Martin hasn’t been around and she’s without a support network and she saw Stacey lose her temper. So it looks to Carmel like she’s really struggling.”
However, the market inspector realises she’s made a mistake almost straight away but can’t bring herself to confess her error to Stacey and, instead, keeps quiet.
Bonnie explained: “It’s horrendous for her. She knows that it won’t turn out well as she would feel exactly the same in Stacey’s position. She completely empathises with Stacey and regrets what she has done. Being both a mother and an older woman, Carmel knows it’s not right to keep this from Stacey, but maybe this is not the best time to tell and who would benefit from sharing this information now? She’s made a mistake but coming clean now would not be best for anyone.”
Once Arthur – who collapsed after he overdosed on Stacey’s bi-polar medication – is given the all-clear by the doctors, the brunette beauty tries to get her life back on track, but she’s hit with another blow when social services reveal they’ll be doing at-home visits from now on to ensure the children’s safety isn’t at risk.

Richard Coles feared for his life on first ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ episode

OHMYGOSSIP — Reverend Richard Coles feared he would suffer a horrific incident on the first week of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 55-year-old Church of England priest has admitted as he has got older he finds he gets “shakier at height”, and on week one of the BBC One dance competition the contestant was hoisted to a harness and lifted above the audience on a cloud, much to his terror, as he thought he would plummet to the ground, suffer an injury and be forced to quit the show.
Speaking to The Radio Times magazine about his concern about the routine, he said: “On week one, which now feels so long ago, it was not so much the imminent prospect of performing in a metier for which I have neither experience nor aptitude in front of a crowded studio audience, ten million people at home, four judges, and a company of world champion dancers, that gave me the collywobbles. No, it was the slow ascent to the heavens in the fluffy cloud on which I made my entrance.
“Jared and Gareth, cloudwranglers, helped me up onto the platform hidden by giant cotton wool buds, strapped me into my sparkly harness and up I went, higher and higher, carried aloft by an electric motor and steel cables until I was on a level with the giant strictly glitter ball in the gods.
“As I got older, like lots of people, I find I get shakier at height, so I was holding onto my golden harp with grim determination wondering if my ‘Strictly’ entrance might also be my ‘Strictly’ exit.”
And Richard’s nerves hit him so hard he almost forget to strum the harp in time with the in house band.
Speaking about another potential blunder, he said: “Then Alan ‘voice-of-‘Strictly” Dedicoat said, ‘And now…’ the band struck up, the motor whirred, and I realised that as I descended, wobbling like jelly, I had to twang the harp in time to the music and look like I was having the time of my life.”
It was only when Richard caught sight of his professional dance partner Dianne Buswell on the ground.
He explained: “Fortunately at that moment I saw my partner Dianne below, encouragement beaming out of her smile, and suddenly boldness suffused me, and I twanged that harp like Jimi Hendrix his guitar.”
And Richard only hopes his “boldness holds up” for the duration of the contest .
He said: “I hope boldness holds up.”

Ashley Walters ‘set for Top Boy revival’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashley Walters is set to star in a revival of ‘Top Boy’.
The ‘Safe House’ star is wanted to reprise his role as drug dealer Dushane in the crime drama series, which is expected to return to the small screen on Netflix rather than its former home on Channel 4.
According to RadioTimes.com, the streaming service are planning to make two more series of the programme, which told the story of drug and gang violence on a fictional east London estate.
An announcement is expected to be made imminently and it is thought Ronan Bennett will be involved in the script once again.
Last year, Ashley hinted Drake could be part of a ‘Top Boy’ revival because the US rapper is a huge fan of the series.
He previously said: “What I can say is that, behind the scenes, there’s some serious work going on to make it happen, and between a lot of good people too. So it’s going to happen at some point, but I can’t really talk about it too much until the paper has been signed.
“Drake is involved. He’s coming on board to help and try and push the situation forward. We’ll see what happens! I’ve gone through having empty promises, and I’ve always relied on myself. I take whatever anyone says with a pinch of salt, but hopefully it will work out.”
In 2014, Drake tweeted Ashley praising him on his performance in the programme.
He wrote: “@AshleyWalters82 is too incredible!! Everybody on Top Boy gives such incredible performances. That show is just too good. (sic)”
Ashley replied: “@Drake thank u for the support bro glad ur enjoying the show! #TopBoy #AlwaysWinning (sic)”
The original ‘Top Boy’ ran for two series on Channel 4 from 2011 to 2013.

Michelle Keegan wants 4 kids with Mark Wright

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Keegan wants four children with her husband Mark Wright.
The ‘Our Girl’ star tied the knot with her beau just over two years ago but, although she’s always wanted to have a baby of her own and has already planned how many little ones she and the hunk will have, she’s too busy to be a mother at the moment.
Speaking to Women’s Health magazine, she said: “We’ve not planned anything and realistically nothing can happen right now because I’m too busy. But I’ve always been broody. I love kids and I want four, so hopefully in the near future.”
The couple have been forced to spend months apart while the 30-year-old actress shoots the third series of the army drama in South Africa, Nepal and Malaysia, and Mark, 30, has been busy with his celebrity correspondent job for ‘Extra’ in the US.
But the brunette beauty believes FaceTime is the secret to a successful long-distance relationship because it helps to keep her “sane” – even though it’s “really hard.”
She explained: “It’s hard being away from him (while I’m filming). Really hard. But we FaceTime and speak, like, all day every day! That’s what keeps me sane!”
And it’s not just her relationship that suffers when she’s away working as the former ‘Coronation Street’ star has put on a stone since she left the UK to shoot the series.
She said: “I’ve put on a stone and feel it everywhere. I’ve been away (filming ‘Our Girl’) for so long and I haven’t had time to work out, and I literally landed two days ago and now I’m kicking myself and thinking, ‘Why didn’t I just eat healthily while I was away?’ But you know what, I think I needed to put on a bit of weight.
“I was a bit bony. I’m a normal girl at the end of the day and when I’m standing there in a bikini or teeny-tiny clothes I’m like, ‘Oh God!’ ”

Alexandra Burke’s boyfriend not jealous of sexy dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexandra Burke’s boyfriend doesn’t mind her getting up close and personal with Gorka Marquez on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ because he’s used to seeing her kiss other men.
The 29-year-old singer has admitted her beau Josh Ginnelly doesn’t bat an eyelid when she rubs up against the professional dancer in their raunchy routines for the ballroom and latin show because he’s used to seeing her lock lips with two men a night in ‘Sister Act’.
Speaking to the Radio Times magazine, she said: “Gorka is a brilliant teacher and probably one of the only people I’ve met with more energy that me. We trained 10 hours a day for the paso and doing him proud meant everything to me.
“It’s a good thing that my boyfriend is used to seeing me on stage with other men – when I first met him I was kissing two guys a night in ‘Sister Act’ – because I hope Gorka and I get the chance to dance many, many more [weeks].”
But it’s not just Gorka Alexandra wants to make proud as she is also pouring everything into the competition for her late mother Melissa Bell, who died in August aged just 53.
She said recently: “My being on the show was a dream of hers, as well as mine, so doing the best I can on Strictly means a lot to me. My mum was my biggest critic. And she has turned me into a perfectionist; everything I do is for her. So when I step on to that dance floor on Saturday night I want to do the best I can and make her proud.”

Corrie’s vicar Billy Mayhew to be exposed as a killer

OHMYGOSSIP — Coronation Street’s loveable vicar Billy Mayhew will be exposed as a killer.
The gentle soul – portrayed by Daniel Brocklebank – is set to confess to his boyfriend Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley) over the next coming weeks that he killed Ken Barlow’s (William Roache) daughter Susan – even though it had previously been believed that she had passed away in a tragic motorway accident in 2001.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “Billy is one of the nicest men on the Street, and fans see him as a mild-mannered voice of reason in amongst all the chaos.
“But in the coming weeks, fans will discover there is much more to Billy than previously thought – and he’s been harbouring a dark secret.
“For 16 years he’s been wracked by guilt knowing that he killed Susan, and finally things come to a head as he reveals to Todd he caused the accident when she died.”
It’s believed the tragic storyline will run right up to 2018 – with the heartbreaking revelation set to come out on the cobbles over the festive season.
The source explained: “It’s heartbreaking for him, and he tells how he now has to suffer the agony of living alongside the family he caused so much pain to all those years ago. It’s going to be a huge storyline this Christmas.”
The heartbreaking revelation will no doubt come as a huge shock to viewers as Billy – who joined the street in 2014 – has become a fan favourite over the years.
The vicar has certainly had his fair share of bumpy rides over the years though, as he first found love with Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) after meeting in a nightclub, but later developed feelings for the barman’s pal Todd and was forced to come clean.
A spokeswoman for the show said: “We do not comment on storyline speculation.”

Actor Harry Reid is set to leave EastEnders

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘EastEnders’ actor Harry Reid is set to leave the BBC soap.
Harry has played Ben Mitchell since 2014, but he is to leave the show before the end of the year, with an explosive storyline marking the end of his time on screen.
A source explained: “Fans of Ben and the Mitchell family will be shocked to see his departure from the soap.
“He will star in a big storyline before the end of the year and be written out of the show as a result.”
Harry’s ‘EastEnders’ contract has expired, meaning he’s now free to seek alternative work elsewhere.
The insider told The Sun newspaper: “Harry has played the role for three years and done Ben justice – but it’s his time to move on from the programme.
“His contract has expired and he’s now free to work on other projects.”
However, Harry has previously insisted he loves working on the show and admitted he would be “deeply upset” if his character – who is the son of Phil Mitchell – was to be written out of the programme.
Speaking last year, the actor confessed: “How would anyone feel if they lost their job? I don’t think anyone is pleased to go.”
During his time on screen, Harry’s character has come out as being gay.
And the actor has previously admitted to being disappointed by some TV viewers’ reaction to his on-screen kiss with former co-star Jonny Labey.
After the kiss aired in 2015, he wrote on Instagram: “It’s upsetting to read the negative tweets about the gay kiss in last night’s episode of ‘EastEnders’.”

Helen George gives birth to baby girl

OHMYGOSSIP — Helen George has given birth to a baby girl.
The ‘Call the Midwife’ star has confirmed she’s welcomed her first child into the world with her partner Jack Ashton, but her arrival was a little unexpected as she made an early appearance and was actually born in time to celebrate her own baby shower.
Taking to her Instagram account on Monday (02.10.17) night, the 33-year-old actress uploaded a photograph of her and Jack cutting the cake at the celebratory bash alongside the caption: “When your baby turns up early for her own baby shower, welcome to the world little one. What an amazing day, we have the best friends.”
Helen refused to divulge any further details on her little bundle of joy – including when she was born, her weight and her name – but the new family look happy and healthy.
The actress’ pregnancy came as somewhat of a shock to fans as she never actually announced the news until she arrived at the TV Choice Awards in London in September with a burgeoning baby bump concealed under her tight black dress.
Once fans got wind of the news, they instantly freaked that her new mummy role would mean she was leaving ‘Call the Midwife’, but Helen later admitted that she had no plans to quit the show and was simply taking some time off to be with her baby.
Alongside a photograph of her baby gifts, she said: Beautiful send off from the best crew #callthemidwife- no plans to leave the show just a bit of time off. And the sex will be a surprise to us all boys can wear pink too (sic)”
Jack and Helen started dating in April last year when they jetted abroad to shoot the festive special and grew close because of the long hours they spent together.
Jack said earlier this year: “It blossomed in South Africa.. It’s the long hours. It’s where you meet people.”
Helen first joined the show in 2012 as Nurse Trixie, while Jack made his debut as Reverend Tom Hereward in series three in 2014.
This is the first time Helen has had a boyfriend in the public eye since she split from her husband Oliver Boot, whom she married in 2012, three years ago.

Lucy Fallon wants proposal

OHMYGOSSIP — Lucy Fallon wants to get engaged in St Lucia.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress – who is known for playing Bethany Platt in the soap – is desperate to walk down the aisle with her boyfriend Tom Leech and thinks the beautiful Caribbean island would be the perfect place for him to pop the question.
Speaking to OK! magazine, the 21-year-old star said: “I like the idea of a surprise proposal but I think Tom will do it in a different kind of way so I won’t be expecting it.”
Tom added: “St Lucia would be the perfect place for a proposal but that’s yet to come. I’m not putting a time frame on it.”
And, although the couple would like to get hitched in the future, the blonde beauty doesn’t want to have a family of her own until she’s in her late twenties.
She explained: “I’m veering more to my late twenties because I’ve still got loads of things I want to do. I’m really good with babies because I have nephews, but i like to give them back. I wouldn’t like it to be a full-time thing yet.”
Tom added: “I’ll be around 35 when Lucy’s in her late twenties and that’s fine by me. I’m happy to leave it as long as we can.”
Lucy said: “We’ve got our dog Milo now and he’s just a puppy, so it’s a bit like having a child. I feel bad saying that because people who have kids will be like: ‘You have no idea.’ But it has been a bit stressful. We missed Milo when we were away but it was nice not having the responsibility. Oh and not stepping in dog poo!”

Doctor Foster won’t get 3rd series

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Doctor Foster’ probably won’t get a third series.
The second series of the award-winning drama – which receives more than six million viewers each week – is set to wrap tonight (03.10.17) with a shocking twist that’ll leave fans begging for more, but screenwriter Mike Bartlett is unsure whether he’ll pen another instalment because he doesn’t want to kill something that’s so good.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he said: “No, I haven’t written a third series.
“The BBC has never ever put pressure on us to do more and it’s not that sort of show. You could see that at the end of series one. There was just as many people going, ‘Don’t do a series two’. It’s because people care and I love that.
“There’s a lot of trust that we’d only do more if there’s a story and a reason. So there’s no pressure to do more. We all just focus on the one we’re doing and that’s a massive amount of work for everybody.”
Last week’s episode ended on a cliffhanger as it saw Simon Foster (Bertie Carvel) march off in a bid to destroy his ex-wife Gemma Foster’s (Suranne Jones) life.
But, in a huge twist right at the end, the deranged doctor – who sought revenge in the first series after finding out her ex had been cheating on her with a younger woman – followed him in her car and appeared to be on the verge of ploughing him down.
It’s not yet known whether Gemma will murder her ex, but Suranne did confirm recently that her alter ego’s next move may end things for her for good.
She explained: “Tuesday could end this thing totally.
“I’m busy in a play next year and then I go off with Sally Wainwright to the Yorkshire Moors for ‘Gentleman Jack’. I’m not available until January 2019.”

Stanley Tucci set to narrate The Man On The Mountaintop

OHMYGOSSIP — Stanley Tucci is to narrate ‘The Man On The Mountaintop’.
The 56-year-old actor has appeared in a string of well-known Hollywood movies, including ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ alongside Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, but he is now set to narrate the new film by Audible.
‘The Man On The Mountaintop’ has been adapted from Susan Trott’s 1995 text ‘The Holy Man’, and will explore the life of an elderly, holy man who lives in a hermitage on top of a mountain and is visited by thousands of pilgrims who queue for days to meet him.
Speaking about his upcoming venture, Tucci said: “There’s something uniquely compelling about the way this story explores that darker side of human nature, unearthing a compelling truth about mankind in the process.”
And the ‘Beauty and The Beast’ star has likened the tale to Paulo Coelho’s international best seller ‘The Alchemist’ because of its “thought provoking storytelling”.
He continued: “Much like Paul Coelho’s ‘The Alchemist’ it blends parable, myth and morality with powerful and thought-provoking storytelling – it’s a thoroughly enjoyable listen.”
Tucci is joined by Golden Globe and BAFTA-nominated actor Toby Jones, who will voice the holy man, Joe, in the new audio movie, and Audible have praised ‘The Man On The Mountaintop’ for having a “phenomenal cast”.
Laurence Howell, from Audible UK, said: “The tradition of oral storytelling is at the heart of the human experience, and ‘The Man On The Mountaintop’ brings that tradition vividly to life.
“Stanley Tucci and Toby Jones, alongside a phenomenal cast, have created a profound and reflective audio experience in this inspirational and witty modern-day fable.
“We hope our members enjoy it as much as we do.”
Tucci and Jones join an impressive list of performers who have previously been involved with Audible productions, including Emma Thompson, Rosamund Pike, Colin Firth, Thandie Newton, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Stephen Fry.

David Hasselhoff confident Knight Rider return will be a hit

OHMYGOSSIP — David Hasselhoff knows there is a “great market” for a ‘Knight Rider’ movie reboot and that the show’s return will be a success.
The 65-year-old TV legend portrayed lead character Michael Knight in the original TV series from 1982 to 1986, and the idea for a movie reboot came after having an “iced tea” with ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ filmmaker James Gunn – who got him to record vocals for ‘Guardians Inferno’, a track which is included on character Peter Quill’s ‘Awesome Mix Vol. 2’, a collection of songs bequeathed to him by his mother in the story.
Hasselhoff and Gunn have an idea for Knight Rider’s return and they want to stay true to the premise of the show.
Speaking to The I Paper, Hasselhoff said: “It came out of sitting down with James for an iced tea and going ‘I have an idea about ‘Knight Rider’, bringing it back’. Oh my God! Next thing I know is two months later we’re still talking about it. Who knows if we can get the rights?
“I know there’s a great market for it, and I’m trying to make ‘Knight Rider’ true to what ‘Knight Rider’ was, and a continuation of the ‘one man can make a difference’ … And not turn it into some stupid farce.”
The original TV series is a cult classic which told the story of primary field agent Michael, and his technologically advanced car KITT (Knight Industries Two Thousand), who fought crime with the use of the latest equipment.
Last year, the actor admitted he’d been thinking about how a ‘Knight Rider’ film could work and thought of a ‘Fast and the Furious’-style adventure movie based on the old TV series.
He said: “I see it as more of a continuation of the TV series, and they can add new characters or whatever, but they should basically keep the same feeling of the show. There are so many people out there that will absolutely freak out and love it. It would be Michael Knight kind of coming out of retirement with his son and having adventures around the world, and doing a ‘Fast and Furious’ with the Knight Rider car. How cool does that sound? How cool could it be?”

Sir Ridley Scott never wanted to make Blade Runner sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Ridley Scott had “no interest” to ever make a sequel to ‘Blade Runner’.
The 79-year-old filmmaker helmed the 1982 cult classic and in 2015 the highly anticipated sequel was announced to be in the works with Scott acting as a producer and Denis Villeneuve directing.
But when the original – which is based on Philip K. Dick’s ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?’ – was released, the iconic filmmaker never wanted to make a follow up story as he felt it was a complete tale.
Speaking to Den of Geek, Scott – who also created the ‘Alien’ franchise – said: “You change over time. At that point I had no interest in ever doing a sequel, that’s why I never did a sequel to ‘Alien’ for another 20 years, and then I thought, ‘Do you know what, I’d better go back to this.’ Because I’d done two science fiction [films], ‘Alien’ and ‘Blade Runner’, and I felt that that was it. That’s enough science fiction for a career. And of course, I never realised that the awakening of the science fiction universe, over many, many films, would get so large.
“You can’t thank ‘Star Wars’ for that, you can thank, God bless them, ‘Star Trek’. You’ve got all that. It’s evolved and made another form of entertainment.”
‘Blade Runner 2049’ sees the return of Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard and has an impressive cast including Ryan Gosling, Jared Leto and Dave Bautista.
When Alcon – who bought the title and franchise – asked the filmmaker if there was a story for a potential sequel, Scott knew there was a “very clear and present and straightforward” narrative.
Scott – who is married to Giannini Facio – said: “We try not to repeat ourselves, and that’s why I always felt that I didn’t want to do a sequel.
“But returning to this now, I was asked by Alcon, they said there wasn’t a story. I said ‘well, actually there’s a very clear and present and straightforward story, which opens up into a more complex universe, with all its outcomes and characters.
“Because the very first film is a very clear indication of what the second will be.”

Kelly Macdonald wasn’t expecting Trainspotting 2 to be nostalgic

OHMYGOSSIP — Kelly Macdonald didn’t expect ‘T2 Trainspotting 2’ to be “nostalgic”.
The 41-year-old actress reprised her role as Diane in the long-awaited sequel to the gritty 1996 drama – which featured a group of heroin addicts played by Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller, and Ewen Bremner – and she was impressed with the way director Danny Boyle was able to move their stories on while also referring back to his original movie.
In an interview with the Metro newspaper, she said: “Sequels… It’s such a difficult thing when something has been so well loved.
“Danny did an incredible job. I wasn’t expecting the nostalgic element. I was really moved when I watched it.
“They showed footage from the original film and you can see the boys back then… it brought back a lot of memories.”
The original ‘Trainspotting’ became a cult classic and Kelly is very proud her role of schoolgirl Diane was her first ever screen credit, but she’s also thankful she could still remain fairly anonymous, despite the success of the movie.
She said of it being her first credit: “I know! Very cool! I couldn’t have planned it better.
“Also, the time it happened was a different world. We were catapulted out there but in a very low-level, easy way. We had our privacy still.”
The Scottish actress can next be seen as nanny Olive alongside Margot Robbie and Domhnall Gleeson in ‘Goodbye Christopher Robin’ – which tells the story of ‘Winnie the Pooh’ creator AA Milne – but she had never read the famous children’s tales until she began preparing for the project.
However, her two sons, Freddie, eight, and four-year-old Theodore – who she has with estranged husband Dougie Payne – weren’t very interested as they knew they were being used as guinea pigs because she’d done similar when preparing for her part in 2016’s ‘Swallows and Amazons’, which was based on the classic story by Arthur Ransom.
She admitted: “I didn’t come across the writing until I was preparing to film and so I wanted to introduce my children to these stories but Freddie was on to me – because I did the same thing when I did ‘Swallows and Amazons’ – he knew it was work for me and was very unhelpful!
“He was having none of it.”

John Carpenter heavily involved in new Halloween movie

OHMYGOSSIP — John Carpenter approves “every creative turn” in the new ‘Halloween’ movie.
The 69-year-old horror legend helmed and scored the 1978 original and is officially serving as an executive producer on the upcoming new movie by director David Gordon Green, who co-wrote the script with ‘Eastbound & Down’ star Danny McBride.
However, producer John Blum has admitted Carpenter’s role and influence goes much wider than was previously thought.
He explained to ComingSoon.net: “We don’t take any big steps without his approval, so for instance hiring David and Danny he approved.
“He approved their pitch, he approved their first script. He approving bring back Jamie Lee Curtis.
“So anytime we make a big creative turn he’s involved with that and we don’t do it without his blessing.
“We went to him and asked him to be involved. There was no contractual, financial or any other obligation to have him on this movie. We went back and asked him to join us again.”
The original movie saw six-year-old Michael Myers murder his 17-year-old sister and, after being locked away for 15 years, escaped and returned to his hometown to find his next victims, targeting babysitters on Halloween evening.
But the white-masked killer met his match when Laurie Strode (Curtis) fought to protect herself and the two children she is babysitting.
In September, Curtis revealed she will be reprising her role for one final battle with the psychopathic killer.
The 58-year-old actress is coming back to the movie series, which kicked off her big screen career back in 1978, making her Hollywood’s horror “scream queen”.
Curtis has reprised her famous role three times since Carpenter’s original, in 1981’s ‘Halloween II’, 1998’s ‘Halloween H20: 20 Years Later’ and 2002’s ‘Halloween: Resurrection’ but the new film from Blumhouse Productions and Universal Pictures is being billed as the “final” Halloween.
McBride has previously stated that he wants his movie to act like a direct sequel to the first two films and he is going to be faithful to Carpenter’s original idea for Myers.
