Stephanie Davis ‘loses rag’ over Jeremy McConnell’s new girlfriend

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephanie Davis “completely lost her rag” when she found out her ex-boyfriend Jeremy McConnell had bagged himself a new girlfriend while doing community service.
The ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ hunk was sent to Wales to complete his 200 hours of non-paid work after he was found guilty of assaulting the former ‘Hollyoaks’ actress earlier this year but, although she’s got a restraining order against him, she was reportedly fuming when she learnt that he’d struck up a romance with Demi-Leigh Wilson, 21.
A source told The Sun Online: “As soon Steph was told there was someone new on the scene, she lost her rag completely.
“She was hopeful that he might sort himself out and they could have a civil relationship but seeing him going to parties and sleeping around makes her so angry.
“He’s supposed to serving his punishment for attacking her but it seems like he’s just having one big party. And now he’s even managed to get a new girlfriend out of it.”
The 28-year-old star met Demi – who is a single mother of a young daughter – through his friends he’s been staying with while doing his community service and, although she’s been warned to stay away from him, the blonde beauty is “really keen” on him.
The insider explained: “Jeremy’s really charming and Demi-Leigh is really keen. She knows his history but he’s won her over.
“Everyone’s warned her that he’s a player but she doesn’t seem to mind. In her eyes, Jeremy’s just a hot Irish celebrity and there’s nothing else to it.”
Stephanie – who has 10-month-old son Caben-Albi with Jeremy – is now in a relationship with former ‘The Only Way is Essex’ star Ricky Rayment.
It’s still early days for the couple, but the 24-year-old beauty has reportedly been exchanging flirty messages with the 27-year-old hunk and meeting up with him.

Michaela Strachan named her fake boobs Pina and Colada

OHMYGOSSIP — Michaela Strachan has named her “wonky” fake boobs Pina and Colada.
The 51-year-old television presenter was forced to have a double mastectomy almost four years ago after she diagnosed with breast cancer following a routine mammogram but, although she didn’t particularly like her “hard coconut-like” bosoms after her reconstruction surgery, she tried to make light of the situation by naming them after the sweet cocktail, which is made with rum, coconut cream and milk.
Speaking on ‘Loose Women’ on Thursday (19.10.17), Michaela said: “I sobbed and I panicked and then you go into stoic mode … Within a week, I had gone from not knowing I had breast cancer to looking at fake boobs. You actually laugh because this is so surreal. That was weird. I actually didn’t go down the nipple route because I have a loving partner and after you have the reconstruction, they’re as hard as coconuts and I found it very difficult to love them. So my friend said to me: ‘Why don’t you give them a name and then you might love them more.’ I said: ‘But they’re like coconuts.’ So she said: ‘Why don’t you call them pina and colada.’ ”
But the former ‘Springwatch’ host still isn’t particularly fond of her fake boobs.
She added: “They don’t look the same and they’ve gone a bit wonky.”
However, she’s glad she caught the cancer relatively early because she felt sorry for her husband Nick Chevallier, with whom she has 12-year-old son Nick, and his three grown-up children as he lost his first wife and they lost their mother to colon cancer.
She said: “His first wife died of colon cancer. I phoned him [after the mammogram] and I said: ‘I’ve had this test done.’ And he said: ‘Don’t panic, darling.’
“I went privately because I live in South Africa so the next day they phoned me and said: ‘I’m very sorry to tell you that you have got breast cancer.’ The thought of having to tell my partner that I had cancer was awful because however supportive he wanted to be, in the back of his mind he was thinking he’d lost his first wife to cancer. And his three grown-up children also had to go through the whole thing again.”

Olly Murs hasn’t heard from Simon Cowell since The Voice job

OHMYGOSSIP — Olly Murs hasn’t heard from Simon Cowell since he joined ‘The Voice’.
the ‘Dear Darlin’ hitmaker announced that he will be coaching on the ITV singing show alongside Jennifer Hudson, will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones when the new series hits screens in 2018, but he thinks he may have upset the music mogul – who employed him as the host of ‘X Factor’ in 2015 – by jumping ships without telling him.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Thursday (19.10.17), the 33-year-old singer said: “I haven’t heard from Simon. But you know, if he’s upset, then…
“I don’t believe in rivalries. ‘X Factor’ was an incredible part of my life and now I’m taking the next chapter and becoming a coach here on ‘The Voice’. I’m loving it and there’s no hard feelings from me, anyway. If he wants to call me, call me.”
But, despite the suspected animosity between him and Simon, Olly can’t wait to get stuck into the show and is determined to do all he can to help his acts win the series.
He said: “I’m absolutely buzzing about being a coach on ‘The Voice UK’ and can’t wait to sit in the big red chair alongside will, Jennifer and Tom.
“I’m excited to mentor new artists and without doubt, I’m in it to WIN!”
Olly was chosen as a mentor on ‘The Voice’ by bosses after they axed Gavin Rossdale – who has kids Kingston, 11, Zuma, nine, and Apollo, three, with his former partner Gwen Stefani, as well as 28-year-old Daisy Lowe with Pearl Lowe – from the programme earlier this year as they didn’t feel like he had the right energy.
Jennifer, will.i.am and Sir Tom were also involved in last year’s series.

Aaron Chalmers ‘walked out’ of Geordie Shore

OHMYGOSSIP — Geordie Shore’s Aaron Chalmers reportedly “walked out of filming” this week.
The 30-year-old reality TV star seemingly quit the boozy MTV series because he was missing his friend Gary ‘Gaz’ Beadle, who left the show in order to focus on the impending birth of his baby son, and had enough of constant partying and drinking.
A source told The Sun Online: “Aaron walked out after having enough of the constant partying and boozing.
“He’s been living a really clean and healthy lifestyle recently as he’s been training for his fights. So to go back into this environment really took its toll on him. Aaron’s also really missing Gaz and has been saying it doesn’t feel the same without him. They were like best mates in that house so to not have him with him tough for Aaron. And it’s the first time he’s been in the house since he hooked up with his girlfriend Talia.”
Although his co-stars were convinced he was gone for good, producers managed to persuade him to re-enter the house by allowing him to “train every day” for his fights.
The insider explained: “Aaron didn’t want to go back in but he didn’t want to let his castmates down. The producers begged him to reconsider and said they would do everything in their power to make sure he was happy.”
This is just the latest set back the show has experienced while shooting this series as filming had to be stalled a few weeks back so that bosses could sort out contracts after the cast – including the likes of Marnie Simpson, Chloe Ferry and Scotty T – demanded more cash following the recent departure of Gaz.
A source said recently: “The big names in the cast are failing to agree terms such as fees for the series. With Gaz having left the show they felt there should be more money to dish out. Many of the show’s biggest stars have issues with terms in their agreement with the programme makers which has taken up time, and whilst everyone has now signed for the new series, several of its key cast were refusing to agree.”

Emmerdale’s Jai Sharma has ‘big storyline coming up’

OHMYGOSSIP — Emmerdale’s Jai Sharma has a “big storyline coming up” that will make him “ruthless” again.
Fans have watched the factory owner – played by Chris Bisson – developed a warmer, softer, side since his girlfriend Holly Barton (Sophie Powles) died of a heroin overdose last year and, most recently, his young daughter Eliza suffer from seizures – thought to be brought on as a result of cerebral palsy – but the soap’s boss Iain MacLeod has teased a major twist.
Speaking to The Sun Online, he said: “I think actually having a child he’s able to hang on to has really changed him. I felt that the Holly story really changed him as well. His reaction to that and her death really sobered him up and made him grow up. I still feel like the ruthless Jai is still in there. Chris and Gaynor [Faye, who plays Eliza’s mother Megan Macey] don’t know this yet, but we’ve just done a long-term story conference and big stories emerged from this whole Eliza thing and I feel like it will give Jai an opportunity to be a bit ruthless again.
“There’s a big storyline. Megan’s no stranger to getting her claws out either, and there’s a common enemy so this might feel like the calm before the storm of their ruthless behaviour.”
However, Chris – who has had to play out a number of hard storylines, including being a drug addict, kidnapping and locking a pregnant woman in a freezer – is worried he’ll be axed from the show because his character can become quite nasty when he wants to be.
The 42-year-old actor said recently: “There were very frank and honest conversations with the producer about the character saying ‘have we gone too far and is it time to call it a day or do we redeem him?’ On the trajectory he was on he was unsustainable but we came to the conclusion that actually he wasn’t a bad character and that’s lovely to play.
“He came in as a much nicer character and he did go off the rails but we have really pulled him back and that’s lovely to play. It’s also lovely to play a long-term story – I’m really pleased we see his struggle day-to-day. He hits the bottle, he’s bought some drugs. It requires a lot of strength for him to hold it together.”

Susie Amy to join Hollyoaks

OHMYGOSSIP — Susie Amy has signed up for a short-term role in ‘Hollyoaks’.
The 36-year-old actress is set to be reunited with Gary Lucy – 11 years after they starred opposite one another as husband and wife in ‘Footballers’ Wives’ – over the next coming months after she recently bagged a small part in the Channel 4 soap.
Details on Susie’s character are not yet known as a spokesperson for the show refused to comment when approached but, according to the Daily Mirror newspaper, the brunette beauty was spotted wandering around on the Chester set last week.
It’s thought Susie’s alter ego may even cross paths with Gary’s character Luke Morgan as the alcoholic is in for some shocking scenes over the next few months as his rapist Mark Gibbs (played by Colin Parry) will also be making a return.
The show’s executive producer Bryan Kirkwood explained: “When one of our writers pitched the return of Mark Gibbs, you could cut the atmosphere with a knife. Everyone almost burst into tears with the idea of what that would mean to Luke.
“We will be seeing the return of Mark later this year. He was punished at the time, but he now looks like he’s got a lovely, charmed life. To Luke, who is still devastated and drinking himself into a stupor every night, that’s a bitter pill to swallow.
“They’re really heavyweight performances and episodes. It’s thrilling to be able to revisit the past in order to motivate Luke’s future.”
Susie played Chardonnay Lane-Pascoe in ‘Footballers’ Wives’ – making her a household name – opposite Gary’s Kyle Pascoe from 2002 until 2006 and fans will remember their shocking wedding in which hooligans gatecrashed the ceremony.

Fern Britton to host new royal quiz show

OHMYGOSSIP — Fern Britton is to host a new ITV panel show based on the royal family.
The 60-year-old presenter is set to make her television comeback with the forthcoming series ‘A Right Royal Quiz’ in which two celebrity teams go head-to-head in several rounds as they test their knowledge on the queen and her relatives.
A TV insider told The Sun newspaper: “As a nation obsessed with every move of the Royal Family, this new ITV show is tipped to be a massive success.
“Big names in the showbiz world will go head-to-head in a series of quiz rounds all based on the monarchy.
“The studio audience will also be given a look back at some nostalgic clips of our beloved royals and will have a good chuckle at things that might not go to plan.
“It promises to be a right royal knees-up with Fern at the helm.”
The former ‘This Morning’ presenter’s new gig comes just over a year after she thought she was going to die after she developed sepsis following a hysterectomy.
She said recently: “This time last year, I was fighting for my life. I’d gone into hospital on 13 July for a routine hysterectomy (which I had needed to deal with long-standing fibroids), four days before my birthday… the procedure – which was carried out at a local private hospital – went well and I received fantastic care.
“But when I came home three days later, the problems began. They suggested paracetamol and a wait-and-see approach, but by the next day the pain had intensified so much that I could barely walk. When the ambulance crew arrived, I was being sick and thought, ‘Oh, I feel better now!’ So when they offered to take me to hospital, I refused. That was quite a bad decision. By the next day, I was shivering and my muscles and joints were hurting. The GP on duty at my surgery was too busy to come out and she and the emergency-call handler felt my symptoms didn’t warrant an ambulance. By now, the pain was so acute that I was having muscle contractions in my abdomen. In desperation, Phil rang the doctor’s receptionist and she overrode everyone to send an ambulance. It’s no exaggeration to say that I owe her my life.”

Pete Wicks ‘feels like a mug’

OHMYGOSSIP — Pete Wicks feels like a “mug” after he found out his on/off partner Megan McKenna had been secretly meeting her ex-boyfriend Harry Eden “for months.”
The ‘Only Way is Essex’ stars ended their tumultuous relationship earlier this month following a series of blazing rows but, although they refused to divulge why they had called it quits, it’s believed the heavily-inked hunk found out that the brunette beauty had allegedly been sneaking off to meet her former flame behind his back.
A source told the Mail Online: “Megan has been meeting her ex in secret for months and now he feels like a mug for standing by her. Pals warned Pete months ago that Megan was still seeing her ex, but he refused to believe them because he loved her.
“Everyone told him to leave Megan but he was adamant they could make it work. It came out on the show that she had been at after parties with her ex and pals, including some of the ‘TOWIE’ cast, knew then that it was more than that, but Pete chose to trust her and believe she was being honest with him.”
The 25-year-old singer reportedly turned to Harry – who she first dated before she found fame on ‘Ex on the Beach’ – after her relationship with Pete hit the rocks earlier this year and now the pair are keen to make a go of things now she’s officially single.
An insider explained: “Megan has always had this bond with Harry. It’s no surprise she turned to him when things got hard with Pete and now she’s single they’re seeing how things go before deciding whether to go for a full on relationship.”

Charlie Webster suffers with ‘headaches’ after malaria

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlie Webster still suffers “constant headaches and terrible vertigo” after she caught malaria last year.
The 34-year-old presenter almost died last summer after she contracted the bacterial infection and then developed hemolytic uremic syndrome, a rare complication from a disease, and though she’s made a good recovery, she’s still experiencing some effects from the illness.
She said: “My kidneys are only working to 50 per cent of their full capacity and I have to drink a lot of water.
“I still suffer with chest pains from my collapsed lung, I have constant headaches, terrible vertigo and I have damage to my left hand.
“The doctors have explained this is a long-term recovery process, but eight months ago I couldn’t make a cup of tea, so I’ve come along way.”
Charlie – who is currently single – previously revealed doctors are unsure whether she’ll be able to have children in future, and though that is still a “worry” for her, she refuses to think the worst.
She told Closer magazine: “It’s a worry and doctors are still looking into whether my body can physically carry a child.
“I grew up with three younger brothers and I’ve worked with children so having kids is really important to me.
“I refuse to think about the worst-case scenario – I’m going to make sure it happens somehow.”
The former Sky Sports star’s illness took its toll on her body and she initially struggled to accept how her appearance changed.
She said: “When I came out of hospital, I struggled to look in the mirror. I went up to 14st with the swelling and my face had ballooned.
“At first, I wouldn’t touch my body or rub cream on it, I just didn’t feel like me.
“I had bad scarring on my cheek and neck because of the tubes inside me – they looked like cigarette burns.
“But I’m proud of the scars now, they remind me I’m a survivor.
“It’s taken me a while, but I’m starting to feel comfortable with myself again.”

Scarlett Moffatt has split from boyfriend – again

OHMYGOSSIP — Scarlett Moffatt was dumped by boyfriend Luke Crodden on her birthday.
The 27-year-old television star had rekindled her romance with her beau after the pair split earlier this year, but on Wednesday (18.10.17) – one day after her special day on October 17 – the brunette beauty took to social media to announce the couple had separated for a second time due to a “number of different things”.
And the only reason the former ‘Gogglebox’ star publicly opened up about her love life was because the red head features in her tell-all book ‘Scarlett Moffatt: Me Life Story’.
Speaking in a lengthy post, which was shared on her Facebook account, the ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!’ champion said: “I’m gonna have to write it because I feel a bit awkward as I’ve done some interviews about him being in my book that aren’t out for a while due to timings of the magazines … but me and Luke have finished due to a number of different things.”
Scarlett has revealed it was Luke who decided to “end” their romance because the former lovers do not view each other in a “romantic way” any more, and the pair did not want to be an “off and on” again couple.
She continued: “It was Luke’s choice in the end but it’s because we both just see each other in more of a friendly way than a romantic way.
“We both respect and love each other enough to know we need to call it a day and not be one of those couples that’s off and on.
“So it’s not that I’m being a crap girlfriend and not mentioning him it’s just we are no longer together.”
And Scarlett is not bitter about the break-up and has wished Luke “all the luck and happiness in the world”.
She concluded: “I wish him all the luck and happiness in the world, just sometimes these things happen (happy birthday Scarlett by the way ha).”
But Scarlett doesn’t want her fans to view her ex-beau as a “bad guy” or that her work commitments have caused the relationship to end.
In response to one comment, she wrote: “I just wanted people to know it was a chat we had and Luke just sees me as a friend and to be honest the more I think about it it’s a joint feeling.
“I just cba with people thinking it’s me that’s the bad guy or that I’ve finished with him because I’m too busy because that isn’t the case.”

Cory Michael Smith joins Neil Armstrong biopic

OHMYGOSSIP — Cory Michael Smith is set to join Damien Chazelle’s Neil Armstrong biopic ‘First Man’.
The 30-year-old actor – who is best known for playing The Riddler in ‘Gotham’ – is going to be cast as astronaut Roger Chaffee in ‘La La Land’ filmmaker Chazelle’s space picture , Deadline reports.
Chaffee was one of the astronauts on board the Apollo program and served as capsule communicator for the Gemini 3 and Gemini 4 missions.
In 1967, Chaffee died in a fire along with astronauts Virgil Gus Grissom and Edward H. White II during the pre-launch test for the Apollo 1 mission.
Not much is known about the forthcoming film as of yet but Hollywood hunk Ryan Gosling is set to play Neil Armstrong in the movie, which follows the glory and turmoil of him landing on the moon.
Pablo Schreiber also joins ‘The Crown’ star Claire Foy, who has signed up to play the Armstrong’s wife Janet.
The motion picture will be based in the years from 1961 to 1969, the year Armstrong landed on the moon, and will look at the astronaut, his family and NASA’s efforts to get the man up on the orbiting rock.
‘First Man’ is an adaptation of James R. Hansen’s book, which was based on 50 hours of taped conversations with Armstrong, who grew to hate the fame he got after taking the “giant leap for mankind”.
Janet was married to Neil for 38 years before they split in 1994. They had two sons together and a daughter who sadly died from pneumonia after suffering from a brain tumour. Neil died in 2012 when he was 82.

Vanessa Hudgens joins Second Act

OHMYGOSSIP — Vanessa Hudgens has joined ‘Second Act’.
The 28-year-old star will appear alongside Jennifer Lopez and Leah Remini in the romantic comedy movie, and the ‘Spring Breakers’ actress will portray a young consumer goods company executive called Zoe.
Lopez confirmed the news by posting a picture of herself with Hudgens and wrote on Instagram: “Look who else is joining me in #SecondAct…
@vanessahudgens (sic)”
The singer-and-actress will portray a woman who works in a big store and gets the opportunity to prove to a huge ad agency that her knowledge and experience is just as valuable as anyone with a college degree.
Remini will take on the role of Lopez’s character’s best friend and colleague.
Peter Segal will direct the motion picture from a script written by Justin Zackham and Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas.
The writing pair will co-produce the movie alongside Lopez and Benny Medina.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project was developed specifically for Lopez – the daughter of Puerto Rican parents Guadalupe Rodríguez and David Lopez – who recently insisted it is still a “struggle” for women to be offered “meaty roles”.
The ‘Shades of Blue’ star – who played the role of singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez in ‘Selena’ – said: “[‘Selena’] was a meaty role, but it was few and far between, especially for Latinos to have a role like that.
“I think it’s still challenging for women, especially being Latina. Thinking about ‘Selena’ 20 years ago and to have a role like that, I was very lucky. I was very fortunate. But it’s still a struggle for women.
“It’s pretty amazing what it’s grown into. I don’t take it for granted. I’m very fortunate.”

Vince Vaughn wanted to move away from comedy

OHMYGOSSIP — Vince Vaughn got to a place where he wanted to move away from comedy.
The 47-year-old actor made his name in Hollywood with his performances in comic romps such as ‘Wedding Crashers’, ‘Old School’ and ‘The Break-Up’, but his latest movie is the crime thriller ‘Brawl in Cell Block 99’ and Vaughn admits he was looking for something “different” from his previous movies when he accepted the role as former alcoholic Bradley Thomas who loses his job as an auto mechanic and at a crossroads in his life, feels he has no better option than to work as a drug courier.
Speaking to the Metro newspaper, he said: “I had gotten to a place where I wanted to shift towards things that were kind of different.
“That move sort of started with ‘True Detective’ and ‘Hacksaw Ridge’, then this came to me and it’s just the best thing I have ever read.”
In the movie, Vaughn’s alter ego ends up in prison after getting embroiled in a shootout with police officers and whilst incarcerated he is forced to commit acts of violence that turn the jail into a battleground.
Vaughn admitted he loved the script because it wasn’t a traditional hero-saves-the-day movie.
He said: “I read the script and thought, ‘This is crazy!’ Because you are normally taught in screenwriting classes that a hero needs that ‘save the cat’ moment – something that will make you love them no matter what. It’s definitely fun to play a guy who has to do what he has to do and not apologize for it.”
Vaughn stars in the movie with Jennifer Carpenter, Don Johnson and Udo Kier and he is hoping he gets the chance to work with director S. Craig Zahler again because he loves what he is trying to do in his films, which also include ‘Bone Tomahawk’ and ‘The Incident’.
Vaughn said: “I don’t know if I have a plan but I certainly hope I get to work with Zahler again. I am hungry for films like the ones he is making.”

Hilary Swank to star in I Am Mother

OHMYGOSSIP — Hilary Swank will star in the new sci-fi thriller ‘I Am Mother’.
The 43-year-old actress has signed up to the forthcoming blockbuster – based on a unique mother-daughter concept thought up by the talented director Grant Sputore and writer Michael Lloyd Green – alongside leading lady Clara Rugaard.
Speaking to Variety, Sputore said of Swank’s signing to the movie: “It is a privilege to welcome Hilary Swank to our film. She is a remarkable performer who always brings tremendous commitment and honesty to the screen. I’m excited about the journey ahead with Hilary and the talented Clara Rugaard.”
Although the full extent of the cast is not yet known, it’s believed Rugaard will play the first of a new generation of humans raised by Mother – a robot designed to repopulate the earth following the extinction of mankind – but their bond is threatened when when a blood-drenched woman – played by Swank – arrives to wreak havoc for the system.
The robot has been created by a special effects team at WETA Workshop – known for their work on ‘Avatar’ and ‘Lord of the Rings’ – while Southern Light Films’ Timothy White and the Penguin Empire’s Kelvin Munro have been brought in to produce.
Anna Vincent and Michael Lloyd Green will co-produce alongside executive producers Paris Kassidokostas-Latsis, Terry Dougas and Jean-Luc De Fanti from Rhea Films along with Bryce Menzies, Philip Wade, John Wade and Sputore.
The movie has already started shooting at South Australia’s Adelaide Studios in Australia but an official release date for the thriller is yet to be given.
Meanwhile, Swank has previously worked on the likes of ‘The Homesman’, ‘Freedom Writers’, ‘P.S I Love You’, and Steven Soderbergh’s comedy ‘Logan Lucky.’

Megan McKenna had elocution lessons

OHMYGOSSIP — Megan McKenna used to have elocution lessons.
The ‘Only Way is Essex’ star shot to Number 1 and 2 in the iTunes Download Chart last month with her singles ‘High Heeled Shoes’ and ‘Far Cry From Love’, but she has admitted she was convinced her accent would jeopardise her chance of carving out a country music career when she was younger so she went to speech classes.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Wednesday (18.10.17), she said: “I used to have elocution lessons when I was growing up, and then it kind of got to the point where I was like, ‘this is me’. I mean, look at Adele. She sings and she’s not posh, posh, posh. But she’s absolutely amazing. She’s smashing it. She’s global. I just think why change yourself? I’m going to stay as me.”
Megan – who has always wanted to be a pop star – saw her music career rocketed after her three-part series ‘There’s Something About Megan’, which saw her travel to Nashville to work on tracks and gain experience, hit screens in the UK in September.
And things are going so well for the 25-year-old beauty that she has decided to reduce the amount of time she spends filming for ‘TOWIE’ from the next series.
A source said recently: “Megan is reducing her hours so she can focus on chasing her country music dreams. She’s filming less days with ‘TOWIE’ because of her increasing commitments to music.”
Meanwhile, Megan and her on/off boyfriend Pete Wicks recently called time on their relationship after her new career came between them.
The turbulent couple – who started dating at the beginning of last year before splitting over the summer – have decided to go their separate ways once again following a series of blazing rows.

Lisa Riley was told to have sex with boss for better career

OHMYGOSSIP — Lisa Riley was once told to have sex with her boss to better her career.
The ‘Loose Women’ panellist – who has previously worked on the likes of ‘Emmerdale’, ‘Coronation Street’ and ‘Butterfly Kiss’ – was horrified to find a senior, married, figure on an unspecified project left details of his hotel room number for her, but her colleague tried to reassure her it was standard practice for their industry.
Speaking on the brunchtime show on Wednesday (18.10.17), the 41-year-old actress said: “For me, personally, in my early 20s, we used to go and make films and TV shows where all the cast and all the crew would go and live together under one roof in a hotel – you’d be away from your family and your partner at the time – and this period for me, I was single. We were filming.
“We were there for two or three months and we were about a month and a half into the shoot and we were in the bar after work – having a glass of wine – and this man, who was in a very high position within the film that I was working on, as I went to the bathroom and came back, I looked at my cigarette box, and there was a number – a three digit number. I turned to my friend and said: ‘What’s that?’ And she said: ‘It’s his room number.’ And I was like: ‘But he’s married with three beautiful children.’ And she went: ‘It’s the norm, everyone does it.’ And I said: ‘This girl doesn’t!’ ”
The brunette star believes that a lot of other females within the showbiz industry would use their sexuality to better their careers – but no one reported it or spoke out about it because so many people did it, it became the “normal” thing to do.
She explained: “For me personally, yeah it’s gone on for years and years. It’s not that people have turned a blind eye, it was just there and it happened continuously.
“I do believe this girl in question wanted to blow her own career up and I wanted a career through talent. People knew that he’d done it before and got jobs because of it.”
