Katie Melua to release this year’s Children in Need single

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie Melua will release this year’s ‘Children in Need’ single.
The ‘Nine Million Bicycles’ hitmaker has agreed to record a special version of ‘Fields of Gold’, which was originally written and recorded by Sting in 1993, in memory of Sir Terry Wogan, who hosted the charity event for 35 years until 2015, because it was his favourite song because he died last year after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Katie said: “I am delighted to have accepted the invitation by BBC ‘Children in Need’ to record and release this single to support the charity’s 2017 Appeal, in honour of the late Sir Terry Wogan. He was a long-standing supporter of mine, and to re-record one of his favourite songs for a charity that was so dear to his heart is a privilege. I hope it goes on to make a real and lasting difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.”
Katie recorded the song at Hoxa Studios in West Hampstead and sees her playing solo acoustic guitar accompanied by bandmate Mark Edwards on hammond organ.
‘Fields of Gold’ is available as a stand-alone charity single from November 3 and will feature as a bonus track on Katie’s latest album ‘In Winter’ on November 10.
The 33-year-old singer will give the song its debut television performance live on the BBC ‘Children in Need Appeal Show’ on November 17 at 9.50pm on BBC One.
All profits from the single will go to the charity, with a minimum of 54p from each sale.
Katie joins a long list of stars – including Craig David, Jess Glynne, Gareth Malone’s All Star Choir, Ellie Goulding, and Girls Aloud – who have recorded a single for the charity.

Donna Air approached for Dancing on Ice reboot

OHMYGOSSIP — Donna Air has reportedly been approached for next year’s ‘Dancing on Ice’.
The 38-year-old TV personality has been having meetings with bosses of the skating show, which is set to return in January, about slipping into some skates and showing off her fancy footwork on the rink but, although ITV have started announcing confirmed celebrities in recent days, it’s not thought the blonde beauty has signed any contracts.
A source told the Mirror Online: “She will be a great signing. Not least as she now brings with her the added glamour of being close to the Royals.”
It’s believed Donna flew to top of producers’ wish list after she split from Duchess Catherine’s brother James Middleton last month following four years of dating.
A source said: “They broke up some time ago. They managed to keep it quiet.”
But James is hoping he and Donna – who has 14-year-old daughter Freya with her ex Damian Aspinall – will get back together soon because he could see a future with her.
A close pal added at the time: “James hopes the split will not be permanent.”
Meanwhile, producers are slowly announcing the line-up for the reboot and, so far, it’s been confirmed that cricketer Monty Panesar, Great British Bake Off’s Candice Brown, rugby hunk Max Evans, Love Island’s Kem Cetinay, Coronation Street’s Brooke Vincent, Bucks Fizz’s Cheryl Baker and Jake Quickenden will take part.
It’s also been announced that acid-tongue choreographer Jason Gardiner, Diversity’s Ashley Banjo, and Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean – who previously mentored the contestants but have now switched roles – will make up the judging panel next year.
Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield will return as the show’s hosts.

Coronation Street crew ‘threaten to walk out’ over working conditions

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ has reportedly been thrown into chaos after the soap’s crew threatened to walk out over the working conditions in the run-up to the festive episodes.
The behind-the-scenes staff – who work the cameras, organise the set and get the cast ready for their lines – have reportedly had enough of being “overworked” now that the show airs six episodes a week and have vowed to strike unless things improve.
A source told The Sun Online: “‘Corrie’ bosses are facing a mutiny if nothing is done to change what’s happening behind the scenes.
“They’re short staffed and overworked and the crew have had enough. It’s been made worse since they started filming six episodes a week.
“And now, in the run up to Christmas, they’re having to work even harder to make sure everyone can have their two week break over the festive period. They’ve kept quiet for so long, now they’re ready to make their voices heard.”
But it’s not just the long hours they’ve had enough of, as the staff are also fed up with the outdated equipment they’re being forced to use – especially after ITV had no qualms splashing out an estimated £10 million on a new set in Weatherfield.
An insider explained: “The sound guys get the worst deal – they’ve got old kit and every boom microphone seems to be broken. They can’t understand why ITV won’t invest some money into getting them better equipment.
“They pay the cast millions every year, but seem to forget they wouldn’t have a show if it wasn’t for the crew working behind the scenes.”
However, although the staff seem to have a bee in their bonnet, bosses of the soap are adamant they haven’t received any complaints but are happy to address any woes.
A spokesperson said: “We have not been made aware of any broken equipment or issues over scheduling.
“If anyone had such concerns we would expect to be made aware of it directly.”

Monty Panesar joins Dancing on Ice

OHMYGOSSIP — Monty Panesar is “looking forward” to trying a different sport after signing up to ‘Dancing on Ice’.
The 35-year-old cricketer has become the seventh celebrity to sign up to the skating show reboot, which is expected to hit screens early next year, and he can’t wait to get stuck into training because he’s hoping it’ll keep him fit and give him a passion for a new activity.
He said: “This is a great opportunity to keep myself fit and motivated and try a different sport. I’m looking forward to it, it’s going to be very exciting.”
Monty – who was sacked from the Brighton cricket team four years ago when he urinated on bouncers during a boozy night on the town in Sussex – took a little bit of persuasion to sign up to the dangerous winter show, but bosses are no doubt thrilled with their success as he’s previously turned down the likes of ‘The Jump’ and ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ in the past.
His signing comes after a turbulent few years in the public eye as he’s openly battled with a mental illness and watched his marriage crumble before his eyes in 2013.
Monty – whose full name is Mudhsuden Singh Panesar – will go head-to-head Great British Bake Off’s Candice Brown, rugby hunk Max Evans, Love Island’s Kem Cetinay, Jake Quickenden, Coronation Street’s Brooke Vincent and Bucks Fizz’s Cheryl Baker on the ice.
More celebrities will be announced in due course but, for now, it’s been confirmed that acid-tongue Australian Jason Gardiner has reclaimed his position on the judging panel alongside Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean – who previously mentored the contestants but have now switched positions – and Diversity dancer Ashley Banjo.
Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield will return as hosts.

Alexandra Burke argues with Gorka Marquez over Gemma Atkinson romance

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexandra Burke is reportedly arguing with her ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ partner Gorka Marquez for dating Gemma Atkinson.
The 29-year-old singer has apparently become embroiled in screaming matches with her on-screen partner over his burgeoning relationship with Gemma, according to The Sun newspaper.
Gemma, 32, is partnered with Aljaz Skorjanec, but she has instead struck up a romantic relationship with Gorka, after the duo met during the group rehearsals.
But that dynamic has reportedly upset Alexandra, who is desperate to win the dance competition.
Meanwhile, a source recently insisted that in spite of his romance with Gemma, Gorka also remains committed to winning the coveted ‘Strictly’ trophy.
The insider previously said: “Gorka is a professional and he is not giving up any of his rehearsal time with Alex to see Gemma.
“Their romance doesn’t seem to distract him at all. But it is a sore point for Alex, who wishes she – and their dancing – was his sole focus. It really irritates her to see him flirting with Gemma.
“Alex is at heart a nice girl but has an unshakeable competitive streak.”
However, Gorka’s romance with Gemma – who previously dated soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo – is said to be the talk of this year’s ‘Strictly’.
Another source previously explained: “Gorka and Gemma are together. It’s the talk of the make-up room.
“Not surprisingly, Alexandra is furious about how it might impact her chances of winning. She’s very ambitious and is nervous about it all.”

Daisy Ridley knew ‘Star Wars’ character’s heritage for years

OHMYGOSSIP — Daisy Ridley has known the destiny of her ‘Star Wars’ character Rey for years.
The 25-year-old actress portrays the mysterious, Force-wielding orphan in the new trilogy, making her first appearance in 2015’s ‘The Force Awakens’, and will make her next outing as Rey in ‘The Last Jedi’ this December.
Fans have been left speculating as to who Rey is and what significance she has in the galaxy far, far away ever since her first appearance, but
Ridley has now teased that she knows exactly what Rey’s parentage is and what happens to her in the saga.
Speaking to Yahoo Japan, Ridley said: “Whatever the answer, I just hope that the moment everyone finds out is an enjoyable experience for viewers. And, though I have known the answer for several years now, the series that Rian Johnson [‘The Last Jedi’ director] created has turned out to be spectacular beyond even my imagination.
“To be honest, I was very moved. I think it will be a moving moment for everyone else as well.”
Ridley joins numerous returning cast members for the eighth instalment of the franchise, including ‘Star Wars’ legends Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) and the late Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa.
The eighth instalment marks the last outing for Fisher, who tragically died in December last year.
Other stars reprising their roles from ‘The Force Awakens’ include Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Gwendoline Christie (Captain Phasma), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Andy Serkis (Snoke) and Domhnall Gleeson (General Lux).
‘The Last Jedi’ is set to occur directly after ‘The Force Awakens’ and follows Rey as she develops her newly discovered abilities with the guidance of Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker, who is unsettled by the strength of her powers.

Adam Sztykiel to pen Black Adam movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Sztykiel is in talks to adapt the ‘Black Adam’ movie.
The 39-year-old scribe – who penned the Robert Downey Jr. comedy ‘Due Date’ – is currently in negotiations to pen the new DC Extended Universe film based around the villain, Collider reports.
Dwayne Johnson has already been confirmed to play the titular character in the stand-alone movie.
The 44-year-old actor’s alter ego is the arch nemesis of DC’s Captain Marvel but Black Adam will not appear in the ‘Shazam!’ film about the superhero as Warner Bros. Studios have decided to create two movies introducing both characters and then bring them together for an epic big screen battle.
Though it is unclear what the plot will involve, the comic book tales in recent years have seen Black Adam on a path to change his course and make amends for his misdeeds.
And Johnson – who has been attached to the character since 2008 before being officially confirmed for the role in 2014 – has teased that the movies will be a lot of “fun”.
The former WWE wrestler previously revealed he had been offered both the roles of Black Adam and Billy Batson, who becomes Captain Marvel when he says “Shazam” and gets the powers of six mythological gods, but ultimately opted for the villainous role because he feels the character has more depth.
Black Adam was created by Otto Binder and C.C. Beck in 1945 as a one-shot villain for the first issue of Fawcett Comics’ ‘The Marvel Family’ comic book.
However, he soon became a recurring character after DC purchased the Fawcett characters.
On Monday (30.10.17), Zachary Levi revealed he has been cast to play Captain Marvel in the stand-alone ‘Shazam!’ movie.

Colin Farrell got down filming Killing of a Sacred Deer

OHMYGOSSIP — Colin Farrell took “five or six days off” after filming the thriller ‘Killing of a Sacred Deer’ because he felt down due to the movie’s “bleak core”.
The 41-year-old actor stars as surgeon Steven Murphy in the new psychological thriller by Yorgos Lanthimos and Farrell admits the role got to him and part of the problem was he couldn’t escape his character when he wasn’t on set because he had to grow a beard for the part.
Speaking to the Metro, Farrell said: “I do always hate talking about finding this work hard because of my Catholic guilt. I know I am fortunate. But, honest to God, by the end of this film I was down. Part of that was to do with the beard. Some people love beards, for sure, but it really weighed me down. But mostly it was the tone of the film. It’s just bleak to its core.
“Yorgos thinks it’s a comedy, that this is his ‘Anchorman’. I beg to differ.
“By the end of the two weeks I was just ready to be done with it. On the night we wrapped, I shaved the beard off. That helped some.
“Then, rather than just go straight home and have to pretend to be happy and upbeat to my kids, I took five or six days off. I just did hikes and nature and things like that.”
‘The Killing of a Sacred Deer’ follows the story of Steven Murphy and his family who has been accused of killing a patient on the operating table.
But he has to make a big sacrifice when the behaviour of a teenage boy, who he has taken under his wing, starts to turn sinister.
Farrell stars alongside Nicole Kidman, who portrays Steven’s wife Anna, in the movie, and the Oscar winner recently admitted that it was one of the strangest films she has ever worked on.

Henry Cavill admits the DCEU approach ‘hasn’t worked’

OHMYGOSSIP — Henry Cavill admits the approach of the DC Extended Universe “hasn’t necessarily worked”.
The 34-year-old actor stars as Superman in the DC movies and while he acknowledges that the comic book films have proven to be profitable, he also understands why they haven’t always been well received by fans and critics.
Henry confessed: “Even if Marvel didn’t exist, we’d struggle. There was a style they [DC] were going for, an attempt to be different and look at things from a slightly different perspective, which hasn’t necessarily worked.
“Yes, it has made money but it has not been a critical success; it hasn’t given everyone that sensation which superheroes should give the viewer.”
Despite this, Henry believes the Patty Jenkins-directed ‘Wonder Woman’, which stars actress Gal Gadot, has shown the way forward for the DC Extended Universe.
He said that the critically acclaimed movie marked the “first step in the right direction” for the franchise.
Henry told Heroic Hollywood: “I think it is a wonderful time for the female hero. It is the perfect setting in social politics right now, we need it, we want that perspective, and ‘Wonder Woman’ has struck at the ideal time and has become a phenomenal success, which is fantastic.
“Any success within the superhero universe, especially within the DC Universe, is wonderful, because I want to keep telling the Superman story; selfishly, that works for me.
“I feel like now the right mistakes have been made and they haven’t been pandered [to], and we can start telling the stories in the way they need to be told.
“It is even better to come back from a mistake or stylistic error into the correct vein because it will make it seem that much stronger. ‘Wonder Woman’ was the first step in the right direction.”

Blue Planet II cameraman almost swallowed by whale

OHMYGOSSIP — A cameraman was almost swallowed by a humpback whale while filming ‘Blue Planet II’.
Patrick Dykstra was trying to capture footage of the enormous creature feasting on a shoal of herring in the Norwegian sea last year for the current instalment of the nature show when the 15-tonne whale – around the size of a school bus – pounced towards him in a bid to sweep up all the nearby fish lingering around the 38-year-old diver and his equipment.
In the footage, which didn’t make it in to last weekend’s episode, Patrick can be heard screaming out in panic before the humpback swerved him and swam in the opposite direction, which the videographer believes is because he realised he was a human.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he said: “The whale swerved to avoid hitting me. It’s fascinating how something so big and moving so fast could avoid me. They’re incredibly intelligent creatures that know exactly where they are.”
And, although he was no doubt convinced he was going to die, Patrick has admitted, on reflection, it was the “greatest moment” of his life because he was so close to the animal.
He added: “It was the greatest moment of my life.
“It was exciting to be so close to something big.”
Bosses at the BBC announced they were planning to do a second instalment of ‘Blue Planet’ after ‘Planet Earth II’ went down such a storm with viewers late last year.
The series, which was filmed over four years using new camera technology and techniques, was last on screens six years ago.
The new-and-improved technology used during filming allowed the camera crew to capture predatory fish and dolphins front on as well as get up close to whale sharks.
The crew also used two unmanned submersibles, which allowed them to record footage from 1,000 metres under the Antarctic Ocean, to capture footage of never-before filmed creatures, including hairy-chested Hoff crabs, snub fin dolphins that spit water, and a tool-using tusk fish.

Our Girl bosses had to kill Elvis Harte

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Our Girl’ bosses “had no choice” but to kill off Luke Pasqualino’s character Elvis Harte.
Fans were left devastated after last night’s (31.10.17) finale saw the hunky solider blown up by a bomb just moments after she proposed to his on/off girlfriend Georgie Lane (Michelle Keegan) but, although some viewers have vowed to boycott the show following the unexpected ending, the series creator Tony Grounds has revealed they had to write him out because the 27-year-old actor had other commitments.
Speaking to the RadioTimesOnline, Tony said: “He had signed a contract to do another show which tied him up for five years with ‘Snatch’, so we had no choice.”
And, although they wanted to leave the door open for his return, Tony and his team were also keen to give Luke a big send off and felt a death would be a dramatic exit.
He explained: “He also wanted Elvis’ exit to be a dramatic one, rather than sending him to prison or giving him a nice holiday for five years.”
Fans were hoping that Georgie and Elvis were set for a happy ever after when the hunky solider asked his former flame – who he gilted on their wedding day during series two – to marry him after they declared their love for one another and had sex.
Georgie said: “I know I’m never going to get rid of you. Never let me down again.”
But their world came crashing down when they waved goodbye to one another after they were ambushed by Afghans and Elvis went to explore a suspicious rooftop.
However, he was thrown off the building when a bomb went off while a heartbroken Georgie watched from afar and she rushed over to try and save him.
Michelle later took to her Twitter account to share a photograph of her and Luke working on set and wrote: “Season 1 finished! Thankyou so much for all your lovely comments. Feel very lucky to be part of such a great show. #elvisandgeorgieforever”

Michael Parr worried he will be without job if Emmerdale character is killer

OHMYGOSSIP — Emmerdale’s Michael Parr is terrified his alter-ego Ross Barton killed his mother because it means he’ll have to go to prison and will no longer have a job on the soap.
The 31-year-old actor – who has played the hunky mechanic in the long-running show since 2013 – doesn’t know what he’ll do if bosses decide his character murdered his mum Emma Barton (played by Gillian Kearney) because he’ll be left without a job.
However, while appearing on ‘Loose Women’ on Wednesday (01.11.17) alongside Anthony Quilan – who plays his brother Pete Barton – Michael revealed there have been seven different endings filmed and none of them know who is the real culprit.
He said: “What we have been through losing our mum and brother it’s just emotions are high everyone is starting to point fingers at each.
“It’s been complicated for us when we have been reading it like there’s been times where I’ve been like oh my god I think I did it, I’m going to lose my job.
“[The seven different endings] was done because these things can have a habit of getting out and it just completely spoils it so why take the risk, so we filmed lots of different endings. It’s all in the power of the edit.”
Although worried about potentially losing his job, Michael also revealed he loves getting a storyline where he can “sink” his teeth in and said it is “kind of emotional”.
He said: “It’s just great as an actor to get material that you can really sink your teeth in and really focus and study the text and what not.
“And it’s kind of emotional so it pushes you as an actor so it’s perfect.”
Over the next few weeks, ‘Emmerdale’ will feature flashback episodes in order to allow fans to start piecing together who killed the vindictive nurse.

Charlotte Crosby and Stephen Bear get back together

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlotte Crosby and Stephen Bear have got back together.
The on/off couple called time on their romance earlier this month, but it looks like things are now back on between them after they held a crisis talk at the Malmaison in Newcastle on Sunday night (29.10.17) – three days after the former ‘Geordie Shore’ star was adamant she’d never take him back after he was spotted kissing another girl.
A source told The Sun Online: “They know people are growing tired of the drama surrounding their on-off relationship so they wanted to try and keep their get-together out of the public eye. Stephen choosing to park right outside the hotel was a stupid decision though. It is almost like he wanted everyone to know exactly where he was, even if Charlotte didn’t … Charlotte is madly in love with Bear but she needs to know she can trust him. She told him that if they’re going to make it work, then they have to give it their all. No more mini-break ups or taking time apart – it’s all or nothing.”
Their reconciliation comes just to weeks after the 27-year-old beauty launched into a Twitter tirade alleging the 27-year-old reality star “necked on” with another girl in a nightclub “in front of everyone” just two days after they went their separate ways.
In a series of tweets which have now been deleted, she wrote: “I can’t believe stuck by someone for so long…for it to take 48 hours for them to be necking on with someone in a club In front of everyone [applause emoji] (sic)”
Charlotte also wrote: “When you try and tell every1 some1 is different and you have there back thru and thru. And they go and prove you wrong (sic)”
The brunette beauty’s vicious rant no doubt came as a surprise to fans as Stephen’s rep insisted the pair had decided to go their separate ways “on good terms”.
The rep said: “I can confirm that sadly Stephen and Charlotte ended their relationship last week. The pair ended on good terms, and no one else was involved whatsoever.”

Candice Brown joins Dancing on Ice

OHMYGOSSIP — Candice Brown has joined the line-up for next year’s ‘Dancing on Ice’.
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ champion – who was crowned the winner of the baking series last year – has become the fifth celebrity to sign up to the reboot of the skating series and she can’t wait to get started on the rink because she loves a challenge.
Taking to her Twitter account on Wednesday (01.11.17), she said alongside her official promo shot: “No more secrets!!! From baker to skater! So excited and nervous to get started @dancingonice Love a challenge!!! #DancingOnIce @ITV (sic)”
However, the 32-year-old lipstick lover will certainly have to put in some hard work during training if she wants to progress in the competition as she’ll go up against rugby hunk Max Evans, 33, who was announced as the sixth star to take part in the show.
Bosses of the skating show have kept details of the forthcoming series under wraps, but, so far, it’s known that Love Island’s Kem Cetinay, Coronation Street’s Brooke Vincent, Jake Quickenden and Bucks Fizz’s Cheryl Baker have also signed up.
And it looks like there will be some animosity on the panel as Ashley is adamant he won’t allow Jason to “bully” him and will give as good as he gets.
He said: “I can imagine us clashing. Do I look like I can be bullied? No chance. I’m going to have to start thinking of witty one-liners. Jason is very good at that. He is the king of the one-liners, let’s hope he’s not lost it.”
Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield will return as hosts.

Luke Pasqualino quits Our Girl

OHMYGOSSIP — Luke Pasqualino has been killed off in ‘Our Girl’.
The 27-year-old hunk won’t be returning to the army drama next year after his alter-ego Elvis Harte dramatically died in a bomb explosion – just moments after he proposed to his on/off partner Georgie Lane (Michelle Keegan) – while on a mission.
She then confirmed that the show would return in 2018 and will see her character deployed to Nigeria but, following the death of her lover, her life will never be the same.
She said: “FIRST LOOK IMAGE: Corporal Georgie Lane lands herself in jeopardy like never before in #OurGirl – Nigeria Tour. Coming next year to @BBCOne. (sic)”
Meanwhile, fans have taken to their social networking sites to vent their anger and sadness over the fact that Luke won’t be returning to the show next year.
