Dave Bautista and Channing Tatum sign up for Alpha Gang roles

OHMYGOSSIP — Dave Bautista, Channing Tatum and Zoe Kravitz are starring in ‘Alpha Gang’.
The trio have boarded the cast of the alien invasion comedy where they will feature with Steven Yeun, Lea Seydoux, Riley Keough and the previously announced Cate Blanchett.
The film is set “in a heightened reality” and tells the story of a group of alien invaders who disguise themselves as a 1950s biker gang on their mission to conquer Earth.
However, their invasion plans go wrong when they catch humanity’s most contagious condition – emotions.
The picture will be directed by sibling filmmakers David and Nathan Zellner and is set to be distributed to international buyers at the American Film Market in Las Vegas next week.
Blanchett and Coco Francini will serve as producers on the movie for their Dirty Films banner.
The pair said in a joint statement: “The Zellner brother’s work never fails to surprise and delight us.
“In ‘Alpha Gang’, they have created a far-out world in order to lampoon something much closer to home: The hilarious, absurd, and peculiar truth of the human condition.”
Bautista recently stepped up to play the lead role in ‘The Killer’s Game’ and admits that he had reservations about taking top billing in the action comedy flick.
The wrestler-turned-actor told The Hollywood Reporter: “It was nerve-wracking for me; I’m hoping people receive it well, still a little self-conscious about it. It was a challenge that I wanted, I accepted.
“It was a couple of years ago where I said to myself I need to stop taking so many supporting roles, and I need to seek out lead roles, even if I have to create lead roles for myself.”
The 55-year-old star continued: “I heard Mahershala Ali years ago saying that’s what he did; he said look, he had to start turning down supporting roles if he ever wanted to be a lead.
“And I do want to be a lead, that’s the way you progress in this business, and you don’t grow if you’re constantly taking supporting roles. You’re not going to become a bigger star, and my whole goal is to become a bigger star.”

Eiza Gonzalez and Will Poulter to star in I Love Boosters

OHMYGOSSIP — Eiza Gonzalez and Will Poulter are the latest stars to join the cast of ‘I Love Boosters’.
The pair have signed up to appear in Boots Riley’s movie where they will also be joined by Poppy Liu and Taylour Paige.
They are part of an impressive cast for the film that also includes Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, LaKeith Stanfield and Demi Moore.
Production on the Neon movie will begin this autumn and it tells the story of a group of enterprising boosters (shoplifters and equal opportunists) who take aim at a ruthless fashion expert.
Additional plot details are yet to be revealed but Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett are to produce on behalf of their Ryder Picture Company alongside Savage Rose Films’ Allison Rose Carter and Jon Read.
Eiza previously revealed how she was left “distraught” after missing out on the chance to play Catwoman in ‘The Batman’.
The 34-year-old actress screen-tested for the role in Matt Reeves’ film but the part ultimately ended up going to Zoe Kravitz.
The Mexican star told ComicBook.com: “I was so excited when I was like, camera tested for ‘The Batman’. And that whole process was shocking and I couldn’t believe it because I was especially such a huge fan of Catwoman. And in that moment, I was like, you know, distraught that I didn’t get it.
“But then I watched it and I was like, wow, I just like, loved it. I loved her. I loved the role. I loved Zoe in it.
“I just was so obsessed with what Matt had created and now I’m just like, it’s just nice to see people for the right role getting cast in the right role and I just like to watch it as an audience member.”

Gino D’Acampo reveals he is ‘p*****’ by noon on Christmas Day

OHMYGOSSIP — Gino D’Acampo will be drunk before noon on Christmas Day.
The 46-year-old TV chef – who has been married to Jessica Stellina Morrison and has Luciano, 22 Rocco, 19, and 10-year-old Mia with her – tends to spend the festive period in Sardinia where he favours “pork and fish” but doesn’t do too much in terms of alcoholic drinks because he has normally had too much before the end of the morning.
He told this year’s festive edition of Woman magazine: “I love a negroni, but I don’t do anything special with drinks at Christmas because, by the time it is 11:30 in the morning, I’m already p****d – so you can give me pretty much whatever you want!”
The former ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ winner also revealed that he has made a tradition out of banning all mobile phones on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day because he wants to make sure he can spend as much time with his family as possible.
He said: “For the past 10 years, we have banned mobile phones on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We usually switch them off and don’t turn them on unless it is an emergency. It means you get to spend more time together, in the moment, and you don’t get distracted. I think everyone should switch off and enjoy the day as a family.
“We also all go for a walk on the beach with the dogs and play lots of games outside, but we don’t go in the sea – it’s b****y freezing! Sometimes we even do a mini barbecue on the beach.
But the ‘This Morning’ star will not be making any resolutions for 2025 because he doesn’t really believe in them.
He said: ” I think they’re b******s. Nobody ever sticks with them and I believe that I live a very well-balanced, perfect life. If anything, I get worse than the year before!”

Rivals star Danny Dyer enjoyed ‘doobie’ on Amsterdam trip for his birthday

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Dyer celebrated turning 47 with “a little doobie” in Amsterdam.
The ‘Rivals’ star, who turned 47 in July, had a “mooch around” the canals in the city’s “unsettling” Red Light district on his trip with his wife Jo, brother and sister-in-law, where he laughed that women advertising in the windows were “still trying to coax [him]in”.
Chatting with his ‘Love Island’ star daughter Dani, 28, on their new ‘Live and Let Dyers’ podcast, he said: “I don’t spew.
“That was always my problem back in the day, I always had too much of a good capacity for drugs.
“I was quite f***** when I got back. It’s a fascinating place, where you can walk in a coffee shop, pick up their menu and instead of a bowl of nuts, there’s a bowl of Rizlas.
“I’m not a big smoker, but I thought: ‘While I’m back there, I’ll have a little dabble.’
“We had a little early doobie.”
Danny has opened up about his struggles with addiction in the past, and went to rehab in South Africa in 2016, when he said he needed to “change something in [his] life drastically”.
Just recently, the former ‘EastEnders’ star suffered a “major panic attack” after forgetting his lines playing a waiter in Harold Pinter’s ‘Celebration’ at New York’s Lincoln Centre in 2001, following a night on drugs.
Speaking on Elizabeth Day’s ‘How to Fail’ podcast, he said: “It all just became too much for me. I just lost sense of who I was.
“And I think I just knew I needed to change something in my life drastically.
“And so I took it upon myself. And I think most people who do go to rehab need to take it upon their self to go.”

Sir David Jason brands modern TV “too vulgar”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir David Jason has branded modern TV as “too vulgar”.
The ‘Only Fools and Horses’ icon, 84, has called for programmes to return to the BBC’s standards from the 40s after being shocked by the amount of crude and rude words in comedy and drama series’.
Speaking on the Plot Twist podcast, he said: “I found a book of rules in my house, from 1947, and what it was, was a rule book for writers, directors, actors, you name it, from the hierarchy of the BBC telling you what you’re not allowed to say because you might offend people.
“Blimey, if they were around today! The rationale is we’ve gone the other way. We’ve superseded it.
“In order to be a working class person in television today, you use the expletives constantly, all the time.
“And some of them are pretty vulgar, in my opinion. So everybody is using that, constantly, all the time.
“That’s filtered through to everyday language, so young people today are using all the language that we were banned from saying in everyday speak.
“The problem with that is, is that you’ve given up manners, and you’ve given up respect for your fellow man, for your fellow woman, because the argument was: ‘But it’s in common use, it’s been there in Shakespeare’s time’, well that’s not good enough.”
When David was playing the smooth-talking south London market trader in the John Sullivan sitcom, he notably used terms, such as ‘dipstick’ and ‘plonker’ when venting at his younger brother Rodney, played by Nicholas Lyndhurst, 63.
He added: “If you tried to follow the rule book today you wouldn’t have a show at all. I think we’ve gone too far away from that book of rules.
“In order to offend the audience you were given this set of rules that you had to abide by, writers, actors, directors. You weren’t allowed to say anything about religion or religious people, it’s all there.”

Alan Carr used to live off takeaways until Dame Mary Berry swooped in to help him

OHMYGOSSIP — Alan Carr used to live off takeaways before Dame Mary Berry helped him out.
The 48-year-old TV star has teamed up with former ‘Great British Bake Off’ Mary, 89, for her new BBC Two show ‘Mary Berry’s Foolproof Dinners’ and she has revealed that her first guest “didn’t have much action going on” in the kitchen until she got involved.
She said: “I’d never met [Alan] before. I’d seen a glimpse of him on television, I thought he was crazy and fun, so I was really excited about meeting him. And we did have so much fun!
“He’d been away until the day before we filmed and when we went into the kitchen – there wasn’t much action going on there. There was nothing in the cupboards or the fridge but I quickly realised this had nothing to do with Alan being away – he doesn’t generally cook. I said to him: ‘Well, how do you eat?’ and he told me, ‘It’s called takeaway, and it’s delivered’. And he shouts through the letterbox, ‘Leave it outside’ and that’s it.”
The renowned chef also noted that Alan had a childhood full of homecooked food and that was “quite important” to him so she wanted to teach him the basics of rustling up something for himself.
She said: “Growing up, Alan’s mum cooked a lot, she was a good cook and food growing up was quite important to him. So, I wanted to teach him some new, simple, go-to recipes that he could manage.
“He loved the idea of having everything all in one tray. And that’s exactly what we did, a quick beef chow mein, which he could make after a busy day at work.”
‘Mary Berry’s Foolproof Dinners’ airsTuesdays from 29 October at 7.30pm on BBC Two and will be available on BBC iPlayer.

Nicholas Hoult loved working with his ‘hero’ Clint Eastwood on Juror No. 2

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicholas Hoult realised a dream working with Clint Eastwood on ‘Juror No. 2’.
The 34-year-old star plays juror Justin Kemp – a family man who is struggling to cope with a moral dilemma that could sway a murder trial – in the picture and was thrilled to work with the movie legend after growing up watching his films.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the film’s AFI Fest premiere in Los Angeles on Sunday (27.10.24), Nicholas said: “They always say don’t meet your heroes, but this is a case where it’s amazing to meet your heroes because he’s cool and calm and collected, he has an ease about life and with people and a charm and a glint in his eye and always a cracking sense of humour.
“He cares about what he’s creating, he trusts the people around him and he trusts the audience too.”
Toni Colette plays prosecutor Faith Killebrew and echoed Hoult’s sentiments about the ‘Million Dollar Baby’ filmmaker.
She said: “(I) would have done anything for Clint, I just can’t believe I got to work with him. He’s a dream director. It’s an incredible atmosphere to work within, and there’s a lot of freedom and connectedness and a sense of community on set.”
It has been suggested that the movie could be the last that Eastwood, 94, makes but Collette dismissed the prospect of the film icon retiring.
The ‘Nightmare Alley’ actress said: “He will do it as long as he wants. I do know in the (writers and actors) strike, I was like, ‘What have you been doing?’
“He’s like, ‘I’m looking for material and can’t find anything.’ So he’s endlessly creative, he’s a true artist.”

Joaquin Phoenix nearly played the Joker in The Dark Knight

OHMYGOSSIP — Joaquin Phoenix almost played the Joker in ‘The Dark Knight’.
The 50-year-old actor was approached by Christopher Nolan to play the Batman villain in the 2008 picture but turned the part – which went to the late Heath Ledger – down as he felt he “wasn’t ready” for such a role at the time.
Phoenix told the ‘Tetragrammaton with Rick Rubin’ podcast: “I remember I talked to Chris Nolan about ‘The Dark Knight’ and that didn’t happen for whatever reason.
“I wasn’t ready then. That’s one of those things where it’s like, ‘What is in me that’s not doing this?’ And it’s not about me. There’s something else.
“There’s another person who’s going to do something… I can’t imagine what it would be if we didn’t have Heath Ledger’s performance in that film, right?”
The ‘Napoleon’ actor added: “I don’t know whether Christopher Nolan was coming to me saying, ‘You’re definitely the person.’ I can’t remember the context of how we met, but I know we met.
“My feeling was I shouldn’t do this, but maybe he was also like, ‘He’s not the guy.'”
Phoenix eventually did get to play the Clown Prince of Crime in the Todd Phillips movie ‘Joker’ in 2019 – winning the Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal – but Warner Bros. executive Jeff Goldstein admitted the musical sequel ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’ “didn’t land” with audiences after it flopped at the box office despite the addition of Lady Gaga to the cast as Harleen ‘Lee’ Quinzel.
Speaking to The Wall Street Journal newspaper, Goldstein said: “The movie didn’t land with audiences the way we wanted it to.”
Meanwhile, Phillips suggested that he was unlikely to return to the world of ‘Joker’ for a third movie.
The filmmaker told Variety: “For me, I’ve always thought that these two movies kind of exist as their own thing.
“And, no. I know you’re trying to get the next thing, but I don’t want to go into that.”

Clarkson’s Farm star Kaleb Cooper reveals one simple thing he has done to lose almost a stone

OHMYGOSSIP — Kaleb Cooper has almost lost a stone after cutting out sugar.
The 26-year-old farmer – who shot to fame as Jeremy Clarkson’s, 64, sidekick on Amazon Prime Video’s ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ – had a strange dream that he couldn’t understand but knew that he had to do something for the sake of his health.
He told The Sun newspaper: “I’m on a no-sugar thing, and it’s all because I had this dream.
“I did and didn’t understand the dream, but I knew I had to quit sugar.
“I went to tell Taya [his partner] and she thought I wouldn’t do it.
“I’m four weeks in now, and I’ve lost six kilos, which is pretty good.
“I do have the odd cheat day, but only sugars that naturally occur.”
Kaleb – has two-year-old Oscar and 15-month-old Willa Grace with his fiancee Taya – is hoping to earn enough to buy his own farm one day whilst attaining enough financial security that he can spend time with his children.
He told The Times: “It’s amazing I have two kids, really. I wanted a girl and boy, which I’ve got and am very grateful. Then when I get older I can go down the pub with them, or out on the tractors, and I can still be energetic.
“I’ll make all the money now, hopefully have a farm, then chill out, go partying and be in Ibiza, though I can’t think of anything worse than being in a nightclub. “Everyone’s too close to me!”
The TV star noted that in order to achieve all of his agricultural dreams, he would need a bank balance in the tens of millions and joked that he might consider selling racy pictures of himself on OnlyFans in order to do that.
He said: “I was told by an old farmer, ‘Kaleb, you can’t farm without an arsehole. [He meant you need manure to increase crop yield.] So I’d have 60 dairy cows, 200 beef cows, 5,000 chickens and probably 1,000 acres arable. I’d have a farm shop with a butcher. I’d make my own cheese. [I’d need] about £20 million.
“Do you want to sign up to my OnlyFans?”

The Chase star Shaun Wallace was told by a teacher that he would likely ‘end up in prison’

OHMYGOSSIP — Shaun Wallace was told by a teacher that he would likely “end up in prison”.
The 64-year-old star is best known to audiences one of The Chasers on the ITV teatime quiz show ‘The Chase’ and also has a long-running career as a barrister alongside his TV work but revealed that a careers advisor once told him he would never make it in the legal field and would “at best” become a factory worker.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, he told stand-in-host Ranvir Singh: “On the 27 November next month I’ll be celebrating 40 years at the bar and as a young boy, I always wanted to be a lawyer. I wrote to the Bar Council when I was 12 years old and I got the letter back and I kept that as a source of inspiration. But then I was told by my careers teacher ‘You, a lawyer? At best you’re going to end up working in a factory but someone like you is going to end up in prison’.
The quizzer then noted that while it was “demoralising” to hear that as a teenager, he just used the whole incident as motivation to get to where he wanted to be in life.
He said: “So to be told that as a 15 year old is demoralising but as far as I was concerned, the only way I could stay in charge of my own destiny was to make sure I had an educated mind. I had a wonderful sister who was my big heroine, Sandra, she taught me the importance of reading, the importance of education and I brought that through to my life in terms of championing the importance of having an educated mind to stay control of your own destiny.”

Danny Mac is returning to Hollyoaks after almost a decade away

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Mac is returning to ‘Hollyoaks’.
The 36-year-old actor took on the role of Mark ‘Dodger’ Savage in the Channel 4 soap opera in 2011 but his character has not been seen since he took the blame for his brother Will’s killing in an effort to protect his daughter in 2015 and he is now “thrilled” to be heading back to the show.
He said: “After a decade away, I’m thrilled to be returning and reuniting with my incredible co-stars, old friends and a character very close to my heart. Dodger escaped, leaving a great deal behind. I’ve always wondered whether he could return and who he might have become in the 10 years since he ran away. Now that he’s back, there’s a lot to uncover, but one way or another, we will finally find out.”
Danny will be seen back on screen in January and it is thought that his return will enable producers to “solidify the clans” in the fictional Chester village.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TVBIz column: ““Danny’s really excited to be back on set and he’s been promised explosive twists and turns in Dodger’s story. It’s a really exciting time under new boss Hannah Cheers and it was the perfect time to return.”
“Bosses are really keen to solidify the clans in the village and bringing Dodger back to reunite him with his sisters, dad and very dangerous grandmother is the cherry on top for them.”
Prior to finding wider fame through television, Danny – who is married to his former co-star Carley Stenson and has daughter Skye, three, with her – had starred in West End musicals such as ‘Les Misérables’ and ‘Wicked’, and after he left the soap he took part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ where he reached the final with Oti Mabuse.

Wallace and Gromit creator Nick Park fears AI could eliminate humanity from the movie industry

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Wallace and Gromit’ creator Nick Park is “a bit suspicious” of AI in the film industry.
The 65-year-old animator was catapulted to success after the iconic British claymation series debuted back in 1989, though has now admitted he is concerned about the potential consequences of Hollywood becoming more reliant on technological machinery in its projects.
Park told The Hollywood Reporter: “The authenticity is so key to the charm and to the humour. I have to question whether an AI computer will ever come up with a joke, will it ever come up with charm, will it understand what absurdity is, or irony?”
The ‘Chicken Run’ creator added the movie business could be giving up “something deeply human” if it leaned too heavily on AI.
He explained: “I feel there’s something deeply human that we could be giving up with this rush to AI.
“When we are talking about creativity, whether it’s writing or designing or whatever, there may be ways it could be helpful, but I think we should be very wary.”
Park’s next project ‘Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl’ is a direct sequel to Aardman Animations’ 1993 film ‘The Wrong Trousers’, and will see the villainous penguin Feathers McGraw return to wreak havoc on the cheese-obsessed inventor and his trusty mutt by utilising Wallace’s autonomous “smart” gnome.
Director Merlin Crossingham explained the threat of technology to humanity was the main theme of the picture, and stressed the creative team refused to use AI in the project because they “believe in the human touch”.
He said: “We should be very clear that we haven’t, and we wouldn’t use AI as part of our creative process, because we believe in the human touch. It comes down even to the aesthetic itself.
“In our films, you can see the thumbprints, and that’s really important to us.”
Looking to the future, Park revealed another entry into the ‘Wallace and Gromit’ franchise was on the cards but stressed that he and the team needed a break from the series once ‘Vengeance Most Fowl’ is released at Christmas.
He said: “After we’ve had a little lie down, maybe a week or two, we can talk.
“But no, I mean Wallace and Gromit are like old friends. They’re always available. Personally, I can’t stop thinking of new ‘Wallace and Gromit’ ideas.”
‘Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl’ debuts on BBC One on Christmas Day (25.12.24) in the UK and will be released worldwide on Netflix on 3 January 2025.

Chris McCausland worried Strictly would be a ‘disaster’ before becoming the favourite to win

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris McCausland worried ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ would be a “disaster” for him.
The 47-year-old comedian is the first-ever blind contestant to take part in the BBC Latina and ballroom show and is currently the favourite to win but had initial doubts over whether he should sign up.
He told The Times: “My concern was that it would be a disaster. I honestly thought it could be a car crash. Going straight into the cha-cha-cha on week one nearly killed me. A lot of the rehearsal time is me lying on the floor trying to plaster a smile on my face and saying, ‘Just give me five minutes.’
“I have the odd little bet on football. I never thought I’d see my name on a betting website!”
The CBeebies star – who is paired up with professional Diane Buswell for the competition – admitted that he always becomes “overwhelmed” at the end of a routine, but appreciates that the panel take into consideration that he is learning a new skill without being able to see.
He said: “I always find it quite overwhelming at the end of the dances — for various reasons, but if I drop Dianne on her head I can’t really style that out. So the release of the nerves, and the audience reaction, I have to take a moment.
“But there’s no hiding from the fact that I am doing this not being able to see where I am or what I am doing.
“And it’s nice that they acknowledge that. I think it’s also good that Craig [Revel Horwood, judge] maintains his character on it and criticises me. I poke him back with a stick and see what I get out of him. I’m good with that. That’s what the show is.”

Liam Neeson promises The Naked Gun reboot will be ‘very funny’

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Neeson has teased that ‘The Naked Gun’ reboot will be “very funny”.
The 72-year-old actor is due to star in a new take on the 1988 Leslie Nielsen comedy classic and has promised that fans won’t be disappointed by the revival.
Speaking to JoBlo, he said: “It’s going to be very funny.”
The ‘Taken’ actor gushed about his co-stars Pamela Anderson and Danny Huston and said that he and the cast “had some laughs” making the movie, which is being written and directed by Akiva Schaffer.
He continued: “It was nerve-racking, but we had some laughs. And hopefully the audience will have some laughs too.”
Neeson – who plays Frank Drebin Jr., the son of Nielsen’s detective from the original series – previously admitted he was “a bit nervous” about helming the reboot.
He told MovieWeb in March: “I’ve done a couple of, like, TV skits with Stephen Colbert and Ricky Gervais, but those were two minutes, three minutes tops.
“But I’m a bit nervous about ‘Naked Gun’, because it’s a feature film … If he tests it well, which I’m sure he will, Akiva Schaffer is our writer-director.
“And there’s lots of funny gags, lots of funny visual gags happening at the same time while ‘serious things’ are being discussed, you know?”
The ‘Star Wars’ actor emphasised that the spoof comedy – which is set to hit cinemas in August 2025 – was not a “remake” of the original and had its own identity.
He explained: “It’s not a remake. It’s a reboot. It’s a totally different thing. I think we start in May and shoot for a couple of months or so. It’s a good script but it’s still developing.
“You know, there’s about three laugh-out-loud moments, but we need seven or eight.”
Neeson added he would be putting his own spin on the series as he follows in the footsteps of the late comedy icon Nielsen.
He said: “I’ll do my own thing. I remember Leslie very well. I love those films. Especially that first, ‘Airplane!’ You know, ‘Don’t call me Shirley’. Just that line alone, I think, changed Leslie’s career up until he passed away.”

Amy Dowden set to miss Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Dowden will miss ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ this weekend.
The 34-year-old dancer fell ill during filming over the weekend and it’s now been confirmed that she’ll be replaced by Lauren Oakley, who will team up with pop star JB Gill.
A ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ spokesperson said: “Amy Dowden MBE is doing much better and the ‘Strictly’ family send her love and wish her well.
“She is delighted that fellow professional dancer, Lauren Oakley, is able to step in for rehearsals and to perform in Saturday’s show for JB Gill’s couple’s choice dance.
“We are all hopeful that Amy will be back to dance with JB next week.”
Amy collapsed backstage during the show on Saturday (26.10.24) and an ambulance was ultimately called to the studio, with the dancer complaining of feeling unwell.
A spokesperson for the star later described the move as a “precaution”, explaining that she was now “feeling much better”.
Despite this, Lauren has taken to social media to send her best wishes to Amy.
She wrote on Instagram: “Sending you so much love and well wishes @amy_dowden
“Hope you’re back on the dance floor as soon as possible. I will look after @jbgill for you this week. I hope we make you proud.” (sic)
Amy missed the 2023 series of ‘Strictly’ after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
The dancer subsequently admitted to being “so proud” of how she dealt with her diagnosis.
Amy – who also has Crohn’s disease, which causes parts of the digestive system to become inflamed – said on Instagram: “I have a new body I’m still learning to accept and like, but do you know what it got me through the hardest time and I’m so proud of myself.”

Helen Flanagan reveals she developed an eating disorder during Coronation Street fame

OHMYGOSSIP — Helen Flanagan developed an eating disorder during her time on ‘Coronation Street’.
The 34-year-old actress – who is now mother to Matilda, seven, Delilah, five, and three-year-old Charlie with her former fiancé Scott Sinclair – took over the role of Rosie Webster on the ITV soap opera in 2000 but revealed that in the years that followed, she found a sense of “control” in restricting her diet despite threats that she would lose her job.
Speaking on ‘The Life of Bryony’ podcast, she said: “I remember kind of like school nurse being involved and like ‘Coronation Street’ They would call my mum up, and she was like, ‘Helen, you’ll lose your job’. And I think it was just a sense of control.
“I think having Matilda for me is a really good, like, I need to be a good example because it, I would hate for her to have an eating disorder because it’s f****** miserable.”
Helen stayed in the part of Rosie until 2012 and in that time her character’s mother Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) unsuccessfully tried to push her into showbusiness, and in her late teens she began an affair with her English teacher John Stape (Graeme Hawley) before becoming his kidnap victim.
She returned to the role five years after her initial exit but left again in 2018 when her alter-ego left the Manchester backstreet for a modelling opportunity in Japan, and Helen explained that even now she has “weird little quirks” with her diet.
She said: “I’ve just started to eat bread again because I just wouldn’t touch it. When I got into this thing where, like, me and my ex-fiancé split up, that I just suddenly was like, I’m not touching bread and I’m not touching pasta. I get these, like, weird little quirks that I do with my food
Helen is now in a relationship with Robbie Talbot and the pair met just before she signed up to appear on E4’s ‘Celebs Go Dating’ but he explained that they weren’t “serious” at the time.
