Arnold Schwarzenegger starring in Christmas comedy The Man With The Bag

OHMYGOSSIP — Arnold Schwarzenegger is to star in the Christmas comedy ‘The Man With The Bag’.
The ‘Terminator’ legend has landed his first movie role for five years alongside Alan Ritchson in the picture that is set to shoot later this year.
Adam Shankman is directing the Amazon MGM Studios film from a script by Allan Rice.
The plotline reads: “When Santa’s magic bag is stolen, he turns to his naughty list to find Vance, a former thief, to help him get it back. Along with his daughter, Santa, and a group of misfit elves, Vance will have to pull off the greatest heist of his life to save Christmas.”
Casting details are yet to be confirmed but it is thought that Schwarzenegger will be starring as Santa.
It will mark the first time that Arnie has appeared in a festive movie since ‘Jingle All The Way’ in 1996 and his first film role of any kind since ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ in 2019.
He did shoot the flick ‘Kung Fury 2’ that year but it has not been released due to legal issues.
Arnie played the titular character in the ‘Terminator’ franchise but admitted last year that he was “done” with the movies as he thinks the future of the series should be passed on to other stars.
The 76-year-old actor told The Hollywood Reporter: “The franchise is not done. I’m done.
“I got the message loud and clear that the world wants to move on with a different theme when it comes to ‘The Terminator’. Someone has to come up with a great idea.”
Arnie explained that he will always have happy memories of the franchise that turned him into a bona fide leading man.
He said: “‘The Terminator’ was largely responsible for my success, so I always would look at it very fondly.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kaia Gerber, Finn Wolfhard and Andrew Barth Feldman have been added to the cast of ‘SNL 1975’.

Kaia will play the role of Jacqueline Carlin, Wolfhard is to play an NBC page and Feldman is set to star as Neil Levy.
The film tells the true story of what happened behind the scenes in the lead-up to the first broadcast of NBC’s ‘Saturday Night Live’ in 1975 as a troupe of young comedians and writers changed TV forever.
Gil Kenan has penned the screenplay – which is based on interviews that have been conducted with all the living cast members, writers and crew on the famous series.
Other cast members include Gabriel LaBelle as ‘SNL’ creator Lorne Michaels and Dylan O’Brien and Cory Michael Smith as comedians Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase respectively.
Kaia – the daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber – has acting experience with roles in ‘American Horror Story’ and ‘Bottoms’ and explained that it has been a passion of hers since she was a child.
The 22-year-old star previously told Grazia: “I was very young when I first realised I wanted to pursue acting. I was always in school plays and musicals. My first play was ‘The Wizard of Oz’, I was ten and I played a tree.
“It ran for two weeks and my parents came to see almost every show, bless their hearts. I’m very grateful that now I can give them some more entertaining content to watch! Something a little more up their alley.”

Stacey Dooley struggled to sleep in brothel: ‘I should’ve brought some earplugs!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Stacey Dooley wishes she “brought some earplugs” after being kept up by women working in a brothel.
The 37-year-old TV star, who has fronted a number of hard-hitting documentaries for her ‘Stacey Dooley Investigates’ series on BBC Three, is gearing up for the second season of ‘Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over USA’, where she will spend the first episode of the UKTV show at the country’s only legal brothel – the Mustang Ranch – in Nevada.
However, the presenter admitted she couldn’t get to sleep after hearing the women at work.
She told The Sun newspaper: “The sole purpose of this room is to service the client. I’ve got girls either side of me, that’s the only thing. I should’ve brought some earplugs!”
After meeting some of the workers, including Missy, Stacey revealed she could “hear everything” through the walls, and emphasised the women “must be absolutely exhausted” after hearing them work all night long.
She explained: “You could hear everything! Missy was right next door, and she was such a sweetheart.
“She had one night where she had one after the other, and I was like, ‘Oh my god, this girl mist be absolutely exhausted.’”
Aside from her documentaries, Stacey is well-known for appearing on and winning the 2018 series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, where she struck up a relationship with her partner Kevin Clifton.
The couple have since gone on to welcome daughter Minnie in January 2023.
Despite having tackled some particularly harrowing subjects across her TV career, Stacey insisted that becoming a mother was the hardest thing she has ever had to do.
Speaking to The Sun, she said: “To say I have found the last couple of months easy would be totally disingenuous.
“I used to think people were exaggerating and being melodramatic when they were saying how hard it is. But, honest to God, it’s the hardest gig you’ll ever do.”

Jay Blades lost almost £25,000 on nightmare table restoration

OHMYGOSSIP — Jay Blades once lost £24,950 on a table restoration.
‘The Repair Shop’ star and furniture restorer has recalled been given what appeared to be an unremarkable table, which he decided to rub down and paint all black, only for a colleague to pull out a drawer and notice “a sign” on the side.
Appearing on Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett’s ‘Dish’ podcast, he said: “I rang this guy in Scotland, and he said to me what the actual thing was.
“It was some really expensive table… without doing anything to it, it was worth £25,000 – and I had painted it black.
“I told the guy… and he goes – what he said to me, this antique dealer – he called me a couple of names… effed and blinded, and then he said, ‘Well, look, all seriousness, that table is probably worth about £15 now.’
“We sold it for £50 actually – still, it’s not good.”
Jay also reflected on his friendships with the likes of King Charles – who he gets on with “like a house on fire” – and Dame Judi Dench, who he almost stood up for lunch.
He admitted: “The traffic was bad, and it was raining. We were over an hour late… but she welcomed us with open arms.”
Jay still can’t believe the experiences he’s had, including his recent series ‘David and Jay’s Touring Toolshed’ with ‘Only Fools And Horses’ legend Sir David Jason, who he affectionally called “DJ” during filming.
He reflected: “It’s unbelievable. Sometimes when I pause and look at my life, I’m just like, ‘Really? Is that me? It’s like, is this really happening to me?’
“The types of friends now that I can call up it’s like… I never would have thought this would ever have happened to me.”

Nicolas Cage rules out third National Treasure film

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicolas Cage has ruled out a third ‘National Treasure’ movie.
The 60-year-old actor played treasure hunter Benjamin Franklin Gates in the 2004 adventure movie and the 2007 sequel ‘National Treasure: Book of Secrets’ but has emphatically denied the possibility of another film.
He told Screen Rant: “No, there is no ‘National Treasure 3’. If you want to find treasure, don’t look at Disney, okay? It’s not there.”
Hopes of another ‘National Treasure’ flick are also remote because Cage suggested last year that he may retire from the movie business soon and only has “three or four” films left in him.
He told Vanity Fair magazine: “It’s starting to solidify – I’m starting to cement my plan. I may have three or four more movies left in me.
“I do feel I’ve said what I’ve had to say with cinema. I think I took film performance as far as I could.”
The ‘Dream Scenario’ actor emphasised he was determined to “say bye on a high note” to film acting as he wishes to spend more time with his 18-month-old daughter August – who he has with his wife Riko Shibata.
He previously said: “I was taking stock of how much time I had left.
“I thought, ‘OK, my dad died at 75, I’m going to be turning 60. If I’m lucky, I have maybe a good 15 years and hopefully more. What do I want to do with those 15 years, using my father as the model?’
“It occurred very clearly to me that I want to spend time with my family.”
As well as spending more time with his daughter, Cage explained that he is keen to read more in the future.
He told Entertainment Tonight: “I’d like to read a book a week, I wanna spend more time with my daughter. I’m taking more stock of what’s important.
“Maybe not make quite as many movies.”

Salem’s Lot movie heading straight to streaming

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Salem’s Lot’ will be released on the streaming service Max rather than being launched in cinemas.
The studio behind the horror picture, New Line, has confirmed that the flick will appear on the streamer at some point in 2024.
The film is an adaptation of Stephen King’s 1975 novel of the same name and has an ensemble cast that features Lewis Pullman, Makenzie Leigh and Alfre Woodward.
The movie had initially been slated for release in 2022 before being pushed back to spring 2023 as a result of Covid-related delays. It was then taken off the release schedule altogether by Warner Bros. – to the bemusement of King himself.
Taking to social media platform X (previously Twitter), the author wrote: “Between you and me, Twitter, I’ve seen the new ‘SALEM’S LOT’ and it’s quite good. Old-school horror filmmaking: slow build, big payoff.
“Not sure why WB is holding it back; not like it’s embarrassing, or anything. Who knows. I just write the things.”
Warner Bros. have recently come under fire for shelving a number of finished movies as tax write-offs including ‘Batgirl’ and ‘Coyote vs. Acme’, although DC Studios co-chair Peter Safran defended the company’s “bold and courageous” decision to axe the “unreleasable” superhero film in 2022.
He told Variety: “On the ‘Batgirl’ front, it’s not about late in the process of the film getting cancelled. I saw the movie, and there are a lot of incredibly talented people in front of and behind the camera on the film.
“But that film was not releasable, and it happens sometimes. That film was not releasable. I actually think that (the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David) Zaslav and the team made a very bold and courageous decision to cancel it because it would have hurt DC. It would have hurt those people involved.”

He also had two uncredited roles in the James Bond films ‘From Russia With Love’ and ‘Thunderball’.

Tina Malone mourns husband

OHMYGOSSIP — Tina Malone has been left “totally devastated” following the death of her husband.
The former ‘Shameless’ actress has shared her “heartbreak” following the sad loss of Paul Chase Malone on Wednesday (13.03.24) morning, though the details surrounding his passing have not been revealed.
Tina, 61, wrote on X: “It’s with total heartbreak I write this my husband Paul chase Malone passed away this morning we are totally devastated.(sic)”
Tina and Paul married in 2010, and welcomed their daughter Flame into the world in 2013, but they separated in 2019, only to reconcile months later.
The former ‘Brookside’ actress explained in 2020 that they had got back together because the “love never went away”.
She told Closer magazine at the time: “The love never went away, we’re working on things now, our problems were compounded by depression but I learned that in tough times you have to pull together and not apart.
“We were either arguing, bickering or not talking at all, I’d end up putting Flame to bed and falling asleep next to her.
“Paul and I had always had a great sex life but were barely touching each other. At one point, we didn’t have sex for five months.”
And just last year, Tina – who also has 41-year-old daughter Dannielle from a previous relationship – revealed there was still “so much passion” between her and Paul.
She said: “Paul and I still have so much passion, after 13 years you know each other so well.
“He still gives me butterflies!”

Kate Garraway to host Derek’s Story on ITV

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Garraway is set to host a new documentary about the final year of her husband’s life.
Derek Draper, Kate’s husband, died in January aged 56 after suffering a cardiac arrest, and Kate is set to front a new ITV documentary about the last 12 months of his life, titled ‘Kate Garraway: Derek’s Story’.
The 56-year-old TV presenter – who married Derek in 2005 – said: “Obviously, when we started making this documentary early last year, we had no idea the events that would unfold that ultimately took Derek from us.
“And in January 2024, I wondered if it was right that it should ever come to air.
“But I didn’t want to let those who have given us so much support over the last four years down, and the carers paid and unpaid who, in their thousands of letters to me, feel Derek’s story has given them a voice.
“Also, I remembered so vividly that the idea of making this third documentary at all came from Derek himself.”
The upcoming documentary will explore Derek’s struggles with COVID-19 and the care he required.
Kate has hailed the project – which will air later this month – as a “tribute” to her late husband.
She said: “I am delighted that the film is a tribute to Derek, his incredible spirit and a tribute to all of those who fight on to make every second of life count, whatever is thrown at them.”
Jo Clinton-Davis, the controller of factual at ITV, is also keen to share Derek’s story with TV viewers.
Jo said: “We can see in Derek Draper’s story the individual tragedy of a life devastated by illness, but also the wider perspective of how a family is impacted.
“Derek’s desire for his story to be filmed, along with Kate in their home, provides an insight into both their personal struggles as well highlighting the exhausting challenges of caring for a family member in the home within our care system.”

BBC plotting presenter shakeup following the success of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman on Strictly

OHMYGOSSIP — The BBC is reportedly planning to put more women on screen.
The broadcaster is said to be taking action after it was noted that in current schedules, only men present Saturday night entertainment across both the BBC and ITV and is a “tad embarrassed” at the findings, especially following the success of Claudia WInkleman and Tess Daly fronting ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in the run-up to Christmas.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: The Beeb’s very proud to have its biggest show hosted by two hugely talented, high-profile women.
“Tess and Claudia’s popularity on ‘Strictly’ is proof you don’t need leading men to guarantee a hit show.
“It is also pleased to say it had the first two female hosts of a big show — Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins fronting ‘The Great British Bake Off ‘when it was on the Beeb. But it is also a tad embarrassed by the fact that, when the dance show isn’t airing, almost all of its other big weekly shows are not fronted by female talent.”
Since the onset of the new year, BBC One’s Saturday night schedule has been dominated by ‘Gladiators’ – which is hosted by father-and-son duo Bradley and Barney Walsh – as well as Michael McIntyre’s ‘The Wheel’ and ‘The Weakest Link’, which is presented by Romesh Ranganathan.
Meanwhile over on ITV on Saturday night, there was ‘Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’, Lee Mack with ‘The 1% Club’, followed by T’he Jonathan Ross Show’.
The insider added: “It’s not a deliberate move, just an unfortunate coincidence.
“But it’s one they really want to tackle moving forward, whether that’s utilising existing stars or finding new ones. If it can achieve that, it knows it will have stolen a march on its arch rivals over at ITV.”

Patty Jenkins has resumed work on Star Wars: Rogue Squadron

OHMYGOSSIP — Patty Jenkins has resumed work on ‘Star Wars: Rogue Squadron’.
The 52-year-old writer took a step back from the project in 2021 and the whole movie was delayed but has now revealed that because of contractual obligations made just before the onset of the SAG-AFTRA strike, she now “owes” a script to LucasFilm.
Speaking on the ‘Talking Pictures’ podcast, she said: “‘When I left ‘Star Wars’ to do ‘Wonder Woman 3’, we talked about coming back afterwards so we started a deal for that happened. So when ‘Wonder Woman 3’ went away, LucasFilm and I knew we had to finish the deal. We finished the deal just as the strike was beginning so now I owe a draft of ‘Star Wars’. I am back on doing ‘Rogue Squadron’ and we’ll see what happens.”
The screenwriter explained that she has always been a fan of the sci-fi series and would always have loved the chance to work on it.
She added: “The emotion of ‘Star Wars’ and what it stands for is so beautiful. ‘Star Wars’ was borne out of World War II and it is like…how do you make a metaphor, and talk in metaphor? So in that way I’ve always wanted to make a fighter pilot, it’s been a dream of mine. I always had a hard time with it because I’m in love with the jets of the ’70s and ’80s but I think ‘Star Wars’ is so beautiful, so yes if I can do something beautiful and do something and serves that audience then I would love to do it, of course.
“Rogue Squadron’ is a particularly exciting project because, like other recent ‘Star Wars’ projects, it is beginning to move to other stories in the galaxy outside the ones focused on Force users and Jedi”

Bad Boys 4 is great, says Vanessa Hudgens

OHMYGOSSIP — Vanessa Hudgens thinks ‘Bad Boys 4’ will be “great”.
The 35-year-old actress will play weapons expert Kelly in the new movie, and she relished the opportunity to work alongside Will Smith and Martin Lawrence on the latest film in the long-running franchise.
Vanessa told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I mean, it’s just like such a classic, beloved story and it’s really neat being able to go on this journey with them and have so much time go by.
“We really leaned into the fact that they are a bit older and things changing and they’re not necessarily operating at the speed they once knew.”
Vanessa starred in ‘Bad Boys for Life’ in 2020, and the brunette beauty is convinced that fans will love the new movie.
She said: “It’s fun to be around and I think there’s like a lot of belly laughs and [it’s] action-packed. It’s going to be a great movie.”
Meanwhile, Vanessa previously revealed that she loved working with Will and Martin.
The Hollywood star described the duo as “amazing”.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’ in 2019, she shared: “I play Kelly. She’s a new part of the ammo team, which is the new squad that gets brought on to work with Will and Martin and they’re just amazing.
“Like, Martin is such a sweetheart. He’s always just so kind and warm and welcoming and like, tender … So sweet.
“And then Will is just like a burst of energy. Like, he’s full of life. He’s full of love. They were like, sending gifts to my trailer on the weekly and I was like, this is not normal. This is just too sweet.”

TOWIE star James Lock reveals struggles with body dysmorphia

OHMYGOSSIP — James Lock thinks he is getting “carried away” with cosmetic work.
The37-year-old reality star – who has appeared on ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ since 2013 – has had a raft of work done since becoming famous but will always “find fault” in his appearance no matter how much he goes through.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’, he said: “I’ve had my eyes done, my nose done, you’re getting carried away. Something that would have taken a couple of hours, a couple of pictures, now takes a full day. Sometimes I’m being irrational. I’m a good looking guy, I’m in good shape, but I will still find fault – whether I’m on set or even if I’m going away on holiday or doing a shoot for a brand, I will find fault.
“I started off with a hair transplant, I’ve had my ears done, my teeth done – that’s a standard thing for everyone at the minute.
“Recently I did another TV show and injured myself a little bit. The injuries were bad, but they weren’t as bad as what I created in my head. So I’ve had my eyes done, my nose done. You’re getting carried away.”
The former ‘Celebrity Ex on the Beach’ star added that one moment he can be “rational” about his whole hangup but then the next he can be at work doing a photoshoot and spend the whole day criticising himself in what he looks like.
He said: “I can sit here and be rational about it but a couple of days ago I’m doing a shoot and what should take half an hour takes a full day because I’m finding fault in everything and I’m comparing myself to my competition.
“Remember, the show’s that I’ve been on, we might be all be friends, but we’re all in competition.”

Neil Morrissey doesn’t have any plans to retire: ‘They always need old blokes on TV!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Neil Morrissey has no plans to retire.
The 61-year-old actor opted not to celebrate his most recent birthday by taking his partner Emma Killick and some friends to Barcelona and joked that he doesn’t have any plans to quit acting just yet because scriptwriters always need “old blokes” for television.
He told Metro newspaper’s SixySeconds column: “I had a big 50th rather than 60th. I went to [‘Men Behaving Badly’ co-star] Martin Clunes’s 60th and that was a lovely big show. My 60th, I didn’t want the pressure of that. I was in Barcelona with Emma and two other friends. Emma is Australian and they were friends from Australia who were visiting so we had a great time. We had dinner, drank too much wine and had good fun.
“The great thing about this job is they always need old blokes, don’t they? I suspect I’ll be wheeled out on the odd occasion to be Old Bloke Who Dies In Hospital or Old Bloke Who Is Run Over, or someone’s grandad. Actually, I’ve already been grandad. I’m moving into great-grandad territory now… I imagine I’ll be doing it for a good while longer.”
Meanwhile, the former ‘Waterloo Road’ actor is now appearing opposite Sally Lindsay in the Channel 5 drama ‘Love Rat’, which follows a divorcee who falls victim to a con artist on holiday.
Neil loved getting the chance to work with former ‘Coronation Street’ star Sally, 50, and thinks the audience will also relish in her performance.
He said: “It was exciting to go and work with someone who you hope is going to be great and of course she was. Sally’s such a hard worker. She puts everything into it. It was difficult for her because every single scene is her being oppressed, being attacked, being chased, having to deal with the emotional issues and carrying the storytelling of the drama. Some people are going to think her character is an idiot. Other people are going to be going, ‘Go for it, girl!'”
