Countryfile star Matt Baker launched rival show on Channel 4

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Baker is set to be fronting a new nature to rival ‘Countryfile’.
The 46-year-old broadcaster has hosted the BBC programme since 2009, and is now turning to Channel 4 to launch his own show called ‘Baker’s Britain’, which will explore farming and celebrate “the extraordinary people, places and things that make up the fabric of life in the UK”.
Speaking to The Daily Mirror newspaper, Matt said: “This new series encompasses everything we love as a production company, celebrating the people who make Britain great.
“We look forward to filming in all four nations and continuing our successful relationship with Channel 4.”
The four-part series will be helmed by his own production company, Big Circus Media, which the TV star runs with former ‘The One Show’ executive Gareth Collet.
In a statement, the firm said: “Matt will join those farming innovatively and discover the remarkable people caring for native wildlife or preserving the countryside for future generations. He’ll join those working in extreme landscapes and champion the remarkable people preserving Britain’s rich and proud history and heritage.”
Recently, the former ‘Blue Peter’ presenter revealed he was dealing with a herniated disc – which is where the soft cushion of tissue between bones in the spine push out – and took to social media to praise the NHS for their help, and asked for tips on how to cope with the pain.
On Instagram, he penned: “Hi all, Any advice for a herniated disc?
“For a long time now I’ve been dealing with a herniated disc- as an ex gymnast it’s hard not to be able to bend forward… so I decided to have a nerve block injection, – what a brilliant surgeon and lovely NHS team it was that did my treatment Thank you all! (also a big thanks to the nurse who used to watch me on ‘Blue Peter’ – the buttered toast was amazing!)
“Big thanks also to my friends at Champneys for helping me with my rehab it’s a very special place. If you know of any good exercises or helpful tips I’d love to hear them.”

Miles Teller to star in Eternity with Elizabeth Olsen and Callum Turner

OHMYGOSSIP — Miles Teller, Elizabeth Olsen and Callum Turner are in talks to star in ‘Eternity’.
The trio are set to feature in the rom-com from director David Freyne, with both Miles and Elizabeth serving as executive producers.
Pat Cunnane wrote the script while Oscar-nominated producers Trevor White and Tim White are working on the A24 picture for their Star Throw Entertainment banner.
Plot details are yet to be disclosed but the film is thought to be a romantic comedy where the protagonists must decide who they wish to spend eternity with.
Miles featured alongside Tom Cruise in the hit blockbuster ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ in 2022 as Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw and is set to return with a third movie reportedly in development.
It was revealed in January that Paramount were developing the flick with scribe Ehren Kruger said to be writing a draft script for a new installment in the action franchise.
Cruise, Teller and Glen Powell are all expected to return and it is also thought that producers Jerry Bruckheimer and David Ellison will once again be involved. ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ director Joseph Kosinski may also return behind the camera on the picture.
Miles previously revealed that he had discussed the possibility of a third ‘Top Gun’ movie but said that any decision was ultimately down to Cruise.
He told ET: “That would be great, but that’s all up to TC. It’s all up to Tom. I’ve been having some conversations with him about it. We’ll see.
“For him to share ‘Top Gun’ with me and a lot of these other young actors it’s just been such a wild ride, and it’s still going.”

Stacey Dooley felt ‘super comfy’ staying in a brothel

OHMYGOSSIP — Stacey Dooley felt “super comfy” during her visit to an American brothel.
The 37-year-old TV star, who has fronted a string of hard-hitting documentaries since beginning her career in 2008, stayed in America’s only legal brothel – the Mustang Ranch in Nevada – for the second series of her UKTV show ‘Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over USA’, and has insisted she enjoyed her stay.
She told Metro newspaper’s SixtySeconds column: “I love a brothel – I felt super comfy.
“The madams were sweethearts and very transparent and proud about what they do for a living.
“It’s completely legal in Nevada and I don’t understand why all the states don’t adopt that same approach. That occupation is always going to exist, so why not keep the girls safe and allow them to contribute financially to society.
“Condoms are mandatory and they’ve got panic buttons. It felt like a no-brainer.”
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ champion then explained that sleeping over in the brothel meant she was able to find “common ground” with the women, even if there are “things she fundamentally disagrees with”.
She said: “You’re able to find common ground, almost always, even if there are things you fundamentally disagree with.
“I think it’s super healthy and makes you challenge what you do think you believe.”
However, the brothel experience wasn’t all positive, as Stacey admitted she wished she had “brought some ear plugs” considering she could hear the “madams” at work all night long.
She told The Sun newspaper: “The sole purpose of this room is to service the client. I’ve got girls either side of me, that’s the only thing. I should’ve brought some earplugs!”
Once she had met the workers, including Missy, the documentarian revealed she could “hear everything” through the walls and emphasised the women “must be absolutely exhausted” after hearing them work throughout the night.
She said: “You could hear everything! Missy was right next door, and she was such a sweetheart.
“She had one night where she had one after the other, and I was like, ‘Oh my god, this girl must be absolutely exhausted.’”

Bob Mortimer saw ‘the light at the end of the tunnel’ during triple bypass surgery

OHMYGOSSIP — Bob Mortimer’s heart-stopping triple bypass surgery made him believe in life after death.
The 64-year-old comedian, who is best known hosting the show ‘Shooting Stars’ with Vic Reeves, underwent triple heart bypass surgery in 2015 after it was discovered that “95 per cent” of his arteries were blocked. Bob’s heart stopped for 32 minutes, and he has now revealed he experienced moving into the afterlife during the time he was flat-lining.
Speaking on Kathy Burke’s ‘Where There’s A Will, There’s A Wake’ podcast, he said: “I did see the light at the end of the tunnel. I experienced going towards the light and feeling happier than I have ever felt, ever. It was quite extraordinary, and then I woke up a day later and I was ok. I thought, ‘This is great. I no longer fear death and everything’.”
The former ‘Drifters’ star also revealed to Kathy that after his near-death experience, his spiritual event was dismissed as nothing but “hallucinations” by naysayers.
He said: “Loads of people wrote to me and said, ‘It’s because your body gives out loads of PCT, some chemical to get you through that and it gives you these hallucinations.’
“I was a bit sad about that.”
In 2023, Bob endured “the worst year” of his life after he was told he had lost 20 per cent of his muscle function.
The screen star had told his ‘Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing’ co-host Paul Whitehouse that his health decline dramatically after contracting shingles.
During the programme, he said: “It’s been a very, very, very unhealthy year for me Paul with my shingles.
“It was the worst health year of my life to be honest and you know what, it was worse than my heart period.”
Paul asked: “With this, you had misery and pain in equal measure didn’t you?”
To which Bob replied: “It the moment the consultant saying I’m heading for 80 per cent muscle recovery in my leg and she said ‘you’ll just have to see what that means for you.
“The muscles I’ve lost, I’ve lost. But other ones can compensate for it, you know what I mean?
“I can make the other muscles stronger but I have a terrible feeling I’m never going to be able to run again and you know that I used to like to run Paul.”

Kerry Katona wants Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu evicted from Celebrity Big Brother for ‘bad-mouthing’ OnlyFans

OHMYGOSSIP — Kerry Katona wants Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu evicted from ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.
The 43-year-old star – who made her name in the 1990s girl group Atomic Kitten and these days has claimed to have made more than £1 million by selling racy photos of herself on OnlyFans – has become “obsessed” with the ITV1 reboot of the hit reality series but was offended when former ‘Love Island’ winner Ekin, 29, made a comment about the adults-only platform earlier in the week.
Kerry told OK!: “The one thing keeping me going this week has been ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ – I’m obsessed. But I really want Ekin-Su Cülcüloglu to be voted out, she’s playing such a game. I didn’t like her badmouthing OnlyFans.”
Ekin – who is currently up for eviction alongside ‘Ibiza Weekender’ star David Potts, former ‘This Morning’ host Fern Britton, businessman Levi Roots and former ‘X Factor’ judge Louis Walsh – claimed on camera that she would rather be bankrupt than create content for the service because she has “pride” in herself.
She said: “I’d rather have zero pounds than a million pounds doing it the wrong way, but have pride.”
Kerry – who finished runner-up in the 2011 series of ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ behind boxer Paddy Doherty – previously insisted that the kind of money she earns from her business venture is “crazy” and she sees it as a way of finding confidence in her body after suffering many “issues” during her lengthy career in the public eye.
She said: “It is crazy how much I earn now and the community is like no other. My boobs make me feel great. I do have so many issues when it comes to my body from just being in the industry for so many years.”

TOWIE star Demi Sims reveals bitter feud with sister Chloe started over an argument about the Wi-Fi

OHMYGOSSIP — Demi Sims’ feud with her sister Chloe started over an argument about the Wi-Fi.
The 27-year-old reality star is not on good terms with former ‘TOWIE’ co-star Chloe, 42, and explained as part of their OnlyFans reality show ‘House of Sims’ – which follows the sisters and brother Charlie’s girlfriend Georgia Shults after their move from Essex to LA – that they were torn apart when they were living with their other sister Frankie, 29, over a disagreement about the bill for Internet access.
She told MailOnline: “Charlie, Chloe and Georgia all went out to put their names on and me and Frankie were left in the dark a little bit. Me, Charlie, Chloe and Frankie were all paying evenly for this house and Georgia wasn’t paying.
“We felt like ‘Why is Georgia getting the credit and we’re not?’ So that’s what it came from, which I feel was a fair argument. But in the end they had already formed a team, so I obviously did take Frankie’s side because it was morally wrong.
“So that is my side, I’m a fair person and I’ll always say what’s wrong and what’s right and in my eyes that wasn’t right. This was over a year ago now.”
The TV star explained that the feud all kicked off “over a year ago” and feels that it all could’ve been dealt with “so easily” but that didn’t happen and claimed that the situation has instead “got worse” over time.
She said: “This was over a year ago now. It could’ve been squashed so easily, just saying listen let’s just agree to disagree and move on. But unfortunately, it didn’t, it actually got worse and then Chloe got involved and it all went downhill…
“‘Also, our side of the story with Chloe was that she was talking down to us for a long time, so that’s why we didn’t speak to her for a long time. I know they have a different side, but that’s mine and Frankie’s side.”

Rufus Sewell had doubts about playing Prince Andrew in Scoop

OHMYGOSSIP — Rufus Sewell was reluctant to play Prince Andrew in ‘Scoop’ at first.
The 56-year-old actor portrays the Duke of York in the new Netflix film about the royal’s calamitous 2019 ‘Newsnight’ interview with Emily Maitlis regarding his connection to the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein but was hesitant about the project as he lacks “mimicry” abilities.
Speaking at the Next on Netflix event in London on Thursday (14.03.24), Rufus explained: “I actually didn’t say yes until I’d worked on my own for a while.
“I had an instinct about (Prince Andrew) and felt that there was something that I could bring to him, but I’m not someone who has a natural gift of mimicry.
“I have a good ear. I’ve always been good with accents. But there are certain really great actors who just have that preternatural ability to just do it. I can’t. I have to come up with a different way. So I said yes, because of an instinct.”
Rufus confessed that he became “obsessed” with watching footage of Prince Andrew as he looked to perfect his depiction of the royal.
He said: “I just obsessed with watching the interview and watching him.
“I watched a lot of footage of him when he was younger and at his best because one of the temptations is to avoid anything that seems to show him in a good light. It’s quite a responsibility.”
Gillian Anderson plays former BBC journalist Maitlis in the film – which will be released next month – and explained how she experienced similar doubts to Sewell before agreeing to take the part.
The ‘X-Files’ star said: “The opportunity to play her was a privilege and was daunting. She is a formidable character and journalist, and an incredibly impressive woman.
“So when first asked to play her I said, ‘Absolutely not, it’s too hard, she’s too amazing and everyone knows her too well and I will undoubtedly fail.'”

‘Every intent of a new movie coming out’: Roddenberry Entertainment boss Trevor Roth gives positive Star Trek film update

OHMYGOSSIP — Roddenberry Entertainment boss Trevor Roth has promised that a new ‘Star Trek’ film will be released in the “very near future”.
A fourth movie in the rebooted film series has been stuck in development for some time and Roth has confirmed that Paramount Pictures has a “plan” in place for big screen projects.
He told Screen Rant at SXSW: “I am not able to say much, but I can say that it is Paramount’s intent to figure out the ‘Star Trek’ side of movies and what’s going on there. There’s every intent of a new movie coming out in the very near future.
“There’s a lot of secrecy around what’s going to happen there. But there is a plan getting into place. And we’re very excited to see it return to the big screen.”
‘Star Trek 4 ‘ has been in development for the past eight years and Roth can understand why frustration has grown, although he explained the problems that behind-the-scenes issues can cause.
He said: “People a lot of times are like, ‘Oh, why isn’t this happening or that happening?’ And sometimes those questions are really good questions. And other times, there’s a lot you don’t know that is happening behind the scenes that can make things more difficult than you would think.”
Roth continued: “So all in all, we’re getting there to my understanding, and we’re excited, and plans are being put in place. And I know that from the standpoint of the studio, there is no lack of recognition of wanting and needing a ‘Star Trek’ film coming out.”
Chris Pine has played Captain James T. Kirk in the three previous movies and bemoaned the fact that cast members are always the “last people” to find out information about new projects.
The 43-year-old star said: “In ‘Star Trek’ land, the actors are usually the last people to find out anything. I know costume designers that have read scripts before the actors.
“It doesn’t really foster the greatest sense of partnership, but it’s how it’s always been. I love the character. I love the people. I love the franchise. But to try to change the system in which things are created – I just can’t do it. I don’t have the energy.”

The 29-year-old TV star – who appeared on ‘Love Island’ back in 2022 – has been evicted from the house following a public vote.

Ekin-Su wished her housemates the best of luck with the show.
She said: “Everyone’s so nice in there, such beautiful personalities. I wish them all the best.”
On the other hand, Ekin-Su confessed to being frustrated by some of the housemates’ perceptions of her.

Karen Gillan wants more dramatic roles

OHMYGOSSIP — Karen Gillan wants to make more dramatic movies.
The 36-year-old actress – who is best known for her work in ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ – stars alongside Russell Crowe in psychological crime drama ‘Sleeping Dogs’ and she is keen to take on similar roles.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: “I don’t know if I really was looking for anything in particular, but I do want to dabble in the dramatic space a little bit more just because I’ve gotten to do a fair bit of comedy and genre stuff. So I wanted to exercise that [dramatic] muscle a little bit, but I was pretty open-minded. This just came along, and I always think a sure sign that I should do something is when I’m reading it and I start reading the lines out loud just because it’s fun. So it’s for no one’s benefit but my own, and that’s when I’m like, “Well, if I’m having fun doing this right now, I should probably go and do this for a job.”
Karen plays researcher and femme fatale Laura Baine, who Karen calls “very performative”.
She said: “My interpretation of the character might not line up with everyone else’s interpretation, but I liked this idea that she was very performative. Maybe she studied people that she deemed to be intellectual and were really into classical music and sophisticated things that she could talk about at dinner parties. So I thought it would be fun for me to watch some YouTube videos of people that she might want to emulate and then do a little bit of an affectation. It’s not an impression, but it’s more like this feeling that she doesn’t seem totally genuine. There’s something going on there that feels a little performative.”
However, Karen is also keen to make another ‘Jumanji’ movie.
When asked if there are any updates on the franchise, she said: “I don’t know. I’m sure it’s tricky to wrangle everyone’s schedules, but I haven’t heard anything about it other than the fact that we will be doing it at some point. So we’re all so enthusiastic about it. We all love working on those films, and it’s just a matter of when.”

Millie has already made two ‘Enola Holmes’ movies and the actress hinted that she could reprise the character in the future.

Simon Thomas turned to vodka to cope with wife’s death

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Thomas turned to vodka to numb the pain of his wife’s death.
The 51-year-old presenter’s first wife Gemma, 40, died just three days after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia in 2017 when their son Ethan was eight.
And, Simon admitted he turned to alcohol to cope.
He told The Sun newspaper: “For months every single night was a battle not to drink. Occasionally I would win, mostly I lost.
“I would sink a litre of vodka in an evening, disguised in a coke can.
“In social situations, where I felt more paranoid than I had ever done before, it became an even bigger mask.”
Simon met his second wife Derrina, 31, one year after Gemma’s death and he credits her with saving him and Ethan.
He said: “Without a doubt, she’s the reason Ethan is on a level footing.
“Derrina has been a massive blessing to us after everything that happened.
“She is a mother figure who came into his life, and it’s an amazing sacrifice to love someone else’s child.
“So, despite everything that’s happened, Ethan is incredibly lucky and blessed, which is a weird thing to say.
“But Derrina loves him like he’s her own.”
Along with Ethan, Simon and Derrina have a daughter Talitha together and another child on the way.

Louis Walsh’ secret cancer battle

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Walsh has revealed his secret cancer battle.
The 71-year-old music manager revealed that he was treated for a rare blood cancer during the COVID-19 lockdown and admitted the diagnosis shocked him.
Speaking on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’, Louis said: “I was sick, and I think nobody knew I was sick
“I had cancer. A mild version, a rare one.
“In my blood, I didn’t even know that I had it until I went to the hospital, and then they checked me, checked me, checked me, then they found it. They said it’s a rare one.”
While Louis said doctors were able to “clear up” the cancer, he admitted that it left him struggling mentally.
When asked by housemate Ekin-Su Culculoglu: “Did it affect you mentally?”, Louis replied: “It did, I gotta be honest with you. It’s just up here, even when I go past a hospital I almost get sick.
It’s all gone, I’m fine. It was just the shock of being sick and that word… nobody wants that word.
“I have it blocked out, a reality check, you see so many people sick and it’s terrible.
“In my world it was all about pop music and all that. I didn’t think of anybody getting sick or anything like that.
“And that was like wow, reality check, you’re in the real world.”
A source close to Louis explained that he is in remission from a type of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma called waldenstrom macroglobulinemia.
The insider told The Mirror: “This is the whole reason why Louis wanted to go into ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.
“He has spent the last five years at home in Dublin with lockdown and this health battle and it’s given him a reality check on life.
“He just wanted to have some fun.
“Sharon Osbourne was aware of his struggles, but beyond his family no one else knew.
“It’s the reason why he’s sleeping quite a lot in the house and is quite frail.
“But his family are happy he felt comfortable enough to open up his housemates on this, and start to show his softer side.”
