Matthew Vaughn advises Marvel on Fantastic Four

OHMYGOSSIP — Matthew Vaughn thinks Marvel should incorporate ‘Fantastic Four’ into its Cinematic Universe as soon as possible.
The 48-year-old filmmaker – who previously produced 2015’s ‘Fantastic Four’ – has insisted that following Disney’s purchase of 21st Century Fox, Marvel should quickly bring the franchise into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
He reflected: “As the man that produced the last terrible ‘Fantastic Four’ – and I will say that because I said it from day one, but no one listened to me – I think ‘Fan Four’ is, for me, it’s the live action version of ‘The Incredibles’.
“It’s probably the most, I think, commercially viable Marvel Comic. Kevin Feige will get ahold of that and probably make a masterpiece.”
By contrast, Matthew – who is married to model Claudia Schiffer – believes Marvel should adopt a more cautious approach to another of its new assets, ‘X-Men’.
The director – who also helmed 2011’s ‘X-Men: First Class’ – told Cinema Blend: “I imagine that might get put on ice for a little bit. I think it needs a little bit of breathing room.
“They made a hell of a lot since ‘First Class’, if you think about it. ‘Fan Four’ would be the thing I’d like to see them do next. Disney and ‘Fan Four’ and Marvel is a really potent combination.”

Sophie Turner relished her X-Men experience

OHMYGOSSIP — Sophie Turner felt like a competition winner on the set of ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’.
The 23-year-old actress plays the role of Phoenix Force in the money-spinning franchise, and Sophie has admitted to relishing the experience.
She said: “I felt like I’d won a contest. Every time I was on set, I thought: I shouldn’t be here.
“It was mad to have one-on-one scenes with Jess [Chastain] or Jen [Lawrence] or Michael [Fassbender].”
Despite starring in the ‘X-Men’ franchise, Sophie is, perhaps, still best-known for her appearances in ‘Game of Thrones’.
And the actress has admitted she’d be open to reprising her role on the hit TV show in the distant future.
She told PorterEdit magazine: “Maybe we should do a season nine?
“In 20 years, when I’m old and haggard and out of work, I’ll definitely be up for a season nine.”
By contrast, Sophie previously said that reprising the role of Sansa Stark would result in “more trauma”.
The actress was satisfied with way her character’s story finished in the finale of the HBO fantasy series, and she insisted it was “time to let her go” after a decade on the show.
She said: “I think it’s time to say goodbye to Sansa. I’m ready … ish, to say goodbye to her. I think my watch has ended.
“It’s been 10 years of my life and the best 10 years of my life by far. I finished in a very happy place with Sansa and it’s time to let her go. I feel like if I played her again it would be just be more trauma.”

Amanda Holden loves the focus on her cleavage

OHMYGOSSIP — Amanda Holden loves that there’s so much focus on her cleavage.
The 48-year-old TV star has attracted lots of comment and criticism for some of the eye-catching outfits she’s worn on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ – but Amanda relishes the attention.
She shared: “I love it that people are still talking about my tired old breasts and I’m nearly 50!
“No one talks about [BGT co-host] Alesha Dixon’s – she’s got great boobs by the way – and she’s eight years younger than me.”
The blonde beauty explained that stylist Karl Willettt is responsible for her recent fashion evolution.
Speaking to the Mail On Sunday newspaper’s You magazine, Amanda said: “I go through different phases, I have a different stylist – a bloke. It’s a different eye.”
Amanda is also proud that her outfits remain affordable to most of her fans.
She explained: “If someone asks me, I like to say, ‘This is from Zara’.
“If I admire someone’s outfit, I hate it when they say to me, ‘It’s Dolce! because even I go, ‘I’m not buying that – that’s the school fees!'”
And, unlike many of her critics, Amanda doesn’t allow her age to influence her style.
She said: “Age is totally irrelevant, thanks to people like J-Lo, who is 49 and just a sexy, hot woman who dresses for how she feels.”

Scarlett Moffatt reveals her Strictly Come Dancing ambition

OHMYGOSSIP — Scarlett Moffatt dreams of appearing on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ – but she doesn’t think it’ll ever happen.
The 29-year-old presenter – who has previously starred on shows like ‘Gogglebox’ and ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ – thinks she’s basically ruled herself out of contention by previously discussing her dancing experience.
Asked about the possibility of appearing on the BBC show, Scarlett shared: “I would honestly love to do it, it’s my dream but I feel like it’s never going to happen because I’ve openly talked about the fact that I danced a lot growing up.
“I’d love to be partnered with Anton (Du Beke) he’s such a lovely man and he’s like the master of that show because he’s been on it right from the start. Who knows, I’ll keep trying my hardest!”
Scarlett is similarly enthusiastic about the new series of ‘Love Island’.
And the TV star admitted she’ll be glued to the ITV show throughout the summer.
She told TV Times: “I’m obsessed with it. I apologise in advance to all my friends because the minute that’s back on I’m going to be glued to my TV.
“I loved Jack (Fincham) and Danni (Dyer) last year. I’ve met Danni a few times and she’s such a genuine girl. I’m excited about seeing AJ Pritchard from Strictly’s brother, Curtis, on it this year.”

Jodie Comer’s BAFTA award went on a pub crawl

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Comer’s parents took her BAFTA award on a pub crawl.
The 26-year-old actress won the Best Actress gong at the annual awards bash for her performance in ‘Killing Eve’, and she celebrated her success with the help of her parents.
Jodie recalled: “My dad had it out on the train, and this woman went: ‘That’s not from Poundland, is it?’ This other woman said: ‘Is that the real thing?’ He said, ‘Yeah, do you want to touch it?’
“They took it on a pub crawl. They were so proud.”
Jodie admitted she’s always been in touch with her emotions.
She told the Observer newspaper: “I’m a Pisces, so personally, I’m up here [points to the ceiling], or I’m the opposite.
“There’s no in-between with me. But I love a good chat about feelings. I’m like, come on girl, let’s get it all out, let’s have a cup of tea.”
And despite her recent success, Jodie is determined to keep her personal and professional lives quite separate.
To that end, the actress ensures that most of her social media posts are strictly work-related.
Reflecting on her approach to privacy, Jodie explained: “I’ve seen comments where people say, all you do is post work stuff. And it’s so hard, because I understand that it’s about balance and engaging with the people who support you, but I also have to be protective of my own world, you know?”

Love Island to pay tribute to Mike Thalassitis

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’s opening episode will feature a tribute to the late Mike Thalassitis.
The dating competition came under fire after the former contestant took his own life at the age of just 26 earlier this year, and though it was previously claimed ITV didn’t want to bring attention to the tragedy with the new series, producers have now decided it would be the “right thing” to acknowledge the “difficult subject” when the show returns on Monday (03.06.19).
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Producers wanted to pay their respects to Mike and show his friends, family and fans that he was a part of the Love Island family and is missed deeply by everyone.
“It is a really difficult subject but they wanted to address it rather than sweep it under the carpet or pretend it hasn’t happened.”
Following the deaths of Mike and another former contestant, Sophie Gradon, the show fell under scrutiny for its aftercare programme, prompting producers to bring in new plans for this series.
ITV have revealed there will be more detailed conversations with potential Islanders regarding the impact of participation on the show, and bespoke training for all Islanders on social media and financial management, which extends support to all Islanders following their participation.
The ‘Love Island’ team have been working with Dr. Paul Litchfield, a physician and a former Chief Medical Officer, for the last eight months to “evolve and enhance” their duty of care processes.
He said: “I have reviewed Love Island’s duty of care processes from end to end and they show a degree of diligence that demonstrates the seriousness with which this is taken by the production team.
“The processes and the support offered to Islanders have necessarily evolved as the show has developed and grown in popularity.”

Gary Windass to become Coronation Street serial killer

OHMYGOSSIP — Gary Windass is set to become ‘Coronation Street’s latest serial killer.
The builder – played by Mikey North – was recently revealed as the person behind the Underworld factory roof collapse, which killed Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia), and he is now set to target gangster Rick Neelan (Greg Wood).
A source told The Sun: “Gary’s involvement in the Underworld roof collapse was only just the start of his demise.
“He becomes an all-out bad boy after the breakdown of his relationship with Sarah Platt.
“It’s going to cause shockwaves in Weatherfield and have huge implications for Gary.”
Mikey, 32, recently hinted at Gary’s plunge into darkness, saying: “If he thought things were bad after the factory collapse then life is about to get a whole lot worse for Gary.”
And he also teased that there is “a lot happening” for his ‘Coronation Street’ character this year.
He said: “It’s going to be a big year, there’s a hell of a lot happening for Gary.
“It’s kind of his big turning point; there is lots to come that will take us to all locations far and wide. It should be good. It’s kind of the next strand of the characters life really.
Meanwhile, Mikey recently revealed ‘Coronation Street’ viewers have been hurtling abuse at him in the street for portraying “bully” Gary.
The actor admitted it will take “some time” for him get used to the insults he has been receiving following his character’s bust-ups with Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni), which comes after he was targeted in 2008 when he first joined the show.
Mikey said: “Since the recent episodes, where Gary’s kind of bullying Seb, it’s gone back to how it was when I started on the show and Gary is hated again – people are shouting at me on the streets!
“That side of him is always fun to play, but it’s going to take some time for me to get used to the abuse again, I think.”

Keanu Reeves to star in The Eternals

OHMYGOSSIP — Keanu Reeves is set to star in ‘The Eternals’.
The ‘Toy Story 4’ actor is reportedly preparing to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with a role in the upcoming mysterious project, which is set to enter production at the end of summer.
According to MCU Cosmic, the ‘Speed’ actor is still in negotiations for an unknown role in the blockbuster and has yet to sign a deal to star alongside the likes of Richard Madden.
It was previously claimed the ‘Rocketman’ star was in talks to play Ikaris, who is fuelled by cosmic energy in the movie, with one plot line of the film involving a love story between his character and Sersi, who relishes moving amongst humans.
Ma Dong-Seok was also reported to have joined the cast, along with Angelina Jolie.
The 48-year-old actor – who is best known to audiences for 2013 zombie thriller ‘Train To Busan’ – and the ‘Tourist’ star’s parts are too being kept under wraps for the time being.
The movie, which is being helmed by Chloe Zhao, is based on the 1976 Marvel comics by Jack Kirby.
Fictional species The Eternals are offshoots of the evolutionary process, and they were intended to be the Earth’s defenders, which sees them do battle with the Deviants.
The film will be Jolie’s first superhero outing, but she has starred in a comic book movie before – 2008’s ‘Wanted’, which was an adaptation of Mark Millar and J.G. Jones series of the same name.

Mindy Kaling wrote Late Night for Emma Thompson

OHMYGOSSIP — Mindy Kaling wrote ‘Late Night’ for Emma Thompson.
The 39-year-old actress and writer admitted she had no back-up plan if Emma, 60, turned down the role of talk show host Katherine Newbury in the movie and joked she was a “creep” for being such a huge fan of Emma.
Mindy told chat show host Ellen DeGeneres: “She’s done so much drama and not that much comedy, but she’s really funny and came from comedy. It was a stupid thing to do. I’m in Los Angeles creepily writing this movie about a woman I was a fan of. She’s hilarious and never gets to do funny parts. She just turned 60, and I was excited to see her in this kind of role.”
In the movie, Emma’s character Katherine brings in Kaling’s character Molly as diversity hire to join her entirely white male writing staff on her failing talk show.
And the movie is special to Mindy – who also produces – as when she first got into show business she was shocked by the blatant lack of diversity she saw in the workplace.
She said: “When we started on the film, I thought, OK, things are different now. But then I met the first African American female writer on a late-night talk show and she was only hired in, I think, 2016. And these shows are mainly made in New York City! I mean, not having an African American woman until 2016 in New York, that’s hard to do.”
And Mindy thinks people often only work with others who are the same race as them because people “feel comfortable” with people who look similar to them.
She said: “I think there’s such pressure when you’re creating a show to keep it on the air that people only hire those who they feel comfortable with, and for a lot of people that’s people who look exactly like them.”

Daniel Brocklebank sign new Coronation Street contracts

OHMYGOSSIP — Daniel Brocklebank and Melanie Hill have signed new ‘Coronation Street’ contracts.
The 39-year-old actor and the 57-year-old star have put pen to paper on new deals to ensure their cobbles characters Billy Mayhew and Cathy Matthews will be sticking around for the foreseeable future.
She told Digital Spy: “I’ve just signed another contract and I’m very happy there.”
He added: “I just signed another contract so I will be definitely sticking around for at least another 12 months, yes.”
Billy had a tough 2018 when he struggled with a heroin addiction and nearly died after falling off a cliff, but Daniel has teased fans they can expect a “lighter year” for his alter-ego in 2019.
He said: “Without giving too much away, I think it’s going to be a lighter year this year for Billy.
“Obviously last year was quite a dark year with heroin addiction and falling off a cliff, and all the other things that happened to him, so I think we’re looking at a bit more lighter stuff.”
And away from Weatherfield, Daniel has lots to look forward to after recently revealing will make his concert debut at the West End Proms this summer.
The star won ITV’s ‘All Star Musicals’ in March with a stunning rendition of ‘From Now On’ from ‘The Greatest Showman’, and he will be part of two specials shows in July performing songs from seven decades of musical theatre.
He said: “I absolutely love performing and I am so excited to make my first stage appearance with West End Proms.
“Winning ‘All Star Musicals’ was a dream come true; I now can’t wait to sing live once again, on stage with this wonderful cast.”
The actor will appear during London’s Green Music Time on July 4, and at Scarborough Open Air Theatre on July 5.

Eyal Booker says Love Island lockdown is ‘daunting’

OHMYGOSSIP — Eyal Booker says being in ‘Love Island’ lockdown before going on the show is a “daunting” experience.
The 23-year-old star shot to fame after he appeared on the hit ITV2 dating show last year, and he says this year’s contestants – who are currently in lockdown and gearing up for the first show on Monday night (03.06.19) – are going through a rollercoaster of emotions before they appear on the programme.
Eyal told The Sun Online: “Lockdown is pretty much a nice little holiday before you go in, you get your phone taken away and you’ve got to say good bye to your family and friends, can’t have contact with the outside world from then on in.
“You have a chaperone who is looking after you and takes you out for dinner, you go to a hotel and basically chill for a week.
“To be honest, it’s quite a daunting experience, because most of what’s on your mind is your about to embark on this journey and you have no idea on what’s going on.
“But you get to tan, you get to read a book or two, or you get to watch some Netflix series, you just get to chill out.
“It definitely comes in waves, one minute you’re super excited, the next your freaking out a little because you’re about to go on this show.”
But the hunk also admitted that while lockdown can be an unnerving experience, there are a number of positives.
He said: “I definitely think it’s a daunting experience but it’s a nice experience, it’s not like you’re locked in a room for seven days and you’re just in your own head.
“You’re very much able to discuss your concerns and things like that.”
‘Love Island’ will return on Monday at 9pm on ITV2.

Britain’s Got Talent winner Colin Thackery ‘set for big-money record deal’

OHMYGOSSIP — Colin Thackery is set for a big-money record deal following his ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ win.
The 89-year-old singer scooped £250,000 and a spot at the Royal Variety Performance after beating off competition from magicians X and Ben Hart in last night’s (02.06.19) final, and the Chelsea Pensioner looks destined for further success in the music industry following his ‘BGT’ triumph.
An industry source told The Sun newspaper: “The belief among record execs is that Colin has even more commercial potential.
“If they can come to an agreement, the initial plan would be to release an album in the next few months.”
Colin received a standing ovation following his heart-warming rendition of Michael Ball song ‘Love Changes Everything’, and revealed after his win that he only took part in the show because of a dare from one of his friends.
He said: “It’s just amazing. I can’t believe this has happened. It started as a dare, you know, about a year ago. One of the guys as I was coming off the stage at our club, having sung after the curry lunch and he said, ‘When are you going to do it?’ and I said, ‘What?’ and he said, ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ and I said, ‘Don’t be silly.’ ”
But Colin – who lives in Royal Hospital Chelsea, a retirement and nursing home for veterans of the British Army – doesn’t plan to give his pal any of his quarter of a million winnings, and will instead donate some of his windfall to the Chelsea Pensioners.
Asked if he will be sharing his money with his friend, he said: “No certainly not. I live in a wonderful place and I want to make a donation to that.”
The Chelsea Pensioners praised the ‘BGT’ winner for working “so hard”.
A post on their official Twitter account read: “We cannot believe it! #ChelseaPensioner Colin is this year’s winner! He has worked so hard and done so well to win the #BGT final. Congratulations to all the other acts also. Thank you to everyone who voted and supported Colin over the past weeks. #ColinsGotTalent (sic)”

Jodie Whittaker wanted to be a pop star

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Doctor Who’ star Jodie Whittaker didn’t watch the sci-fi show as a kid because she was too busy dreaming about being a pop star.
The 36-year-old actress became the first woman to take on the iconic part when she appeared in her debut series as the Thirteenth Doctor in 2018 but she admits her ambition as a teenager growing up in Yorkshire was to become a famous musician.
Speaking in the new issue of Doctor Who Magazine, she said: “We had a school year book and the other students said I was the most likely to be famous. I think I said I’d be a pop star. I think it was because I was completely obsessed with being the centre of attention. I didn’t watch ‘Doctor Who’ as a kid. I was too busy thinking I was going to be a pop star.”
Before becoming the Time Lord, Jodie had a number of roles in acclaimed shows such as ‘Broadchurch’, ‘Trust Me’ and ‘The Smoke’.
Although she’s very busy shooting the new series of ‘Doctor Who’ this year , Jodie is still keen to take on other roles and she would love to land a cameo in Channel 4 comedy ‘Derry Girls’ – which is written by Lisa McGee and focuses on a group of teenage friends growing up in Northern in the 1990s.
However, the actress would have to master a Northern Irish accent if she were to get cast in the programme.
She said: “I do a terrible Irish accent, so I’d need to work on that!”
Meanwhile, the next series of ‘Doctor Who’ is set to welcome back familiar villains The Judoon.
The rhino-headed intergalactic police force first made an appearance more than 12 years ago opposite the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) and his companion Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) in 2007’s ‘Smith and Jones’.
And when the Thirteenth Doctor returns to screens next year, she will come face-to-face with the brutes once again as they make their long-awaited comeback to the popular BBC sci-fi show.
The Judoon will meet The Doctor in present-day Gloucester, but as of the time of writing, all other details of their episode are being kept under wraps.
The series will also see the return of the Thirteenth Doctor’s companions Graham O’Brien, Ryan Sinclair and Yasmin Khan, played by Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill respectively.

Keanu Reeves thrilled to play absurd version of himself in Always Be My Maybe

OHMYGOSSIP — Keanu Reeves jumped at the chance to play a heightened version of himself in ‘Always Be My Maybe’.
The 54-year-old actor was enthusiastic about “sending up that actor-star culture” in the new Netflix romantic comedy and director Nahnatchka Khan was impressed that Keanu was secure enough to make fun of himself with the role.
The movie tells the story of childhood best friends Sasha (Ali Wong) and Marcus (Randall Park) who reunite after 16 years apart. Just as Marcus is ready to admit he has feelings for Sasha, she starts dating Keanu.
Khan told the Los Angeles Times: “Keanu completely got it. First of all, he read the whole script. A lot of the time somebody of his stature will just read their section. He read the whole script and saw how his character fit in. You’re tracking Marcus during that section because he’s trying to tell her how he feels and she throws this grenade, and it feels like his worst nightmare: It’s literally Keanu Reeves that she’s dating.
“He trusted myself, Ali and Randall to make the joke into what we’d talked about; he is not the butt of the joke – he is in on the joke with us. It’s like James van Der Beek in ‘Don’t Trust the
B—-.’ They all think it’s funny as well, and it’s their version of sending up that actor-star culture.”
Keanu was also praised for his improv skills, with Khan explaining that he was keen to contribute to the script.
She said: “When we were shooting on the day there were a lot of funny jokes he was pitching because he thought it would be funny if he knew a lot of Chinese dignitaries and started listing them. Of course Keanu would know that. He knows everything.”

Julia Goulding confirms Coronation Street wedding

OHMYGOSSIP — Julia Goulding has confirmed Coronation Street’s David Platt and Shona Ramsey will marry.
The cobbles couple are currently in testing times after Shona – played by Julia – called off their engagement last week after David (Jack P. Shepherd) revealed he had spent part of his gran Audrey Roberts’ (Sue Nicholls) stolen money, but another Weatherfield wedding is definitely on the way.
She said: “At the moment the engagement is off, but I am allowed to say that we will be getting married.
“I think she’s tried really hard to bring herself out of the gutter and I think she calms him. I think she makes him a bit more mature.”
As well as her character’s nuptials to look forward to, Julia is expecting a baby with her husband Ben Silver – who she married earlier this year – and she revealed the news to her ‘Corrie’ co-stars by sending them a picture of herself with a ‘Baby on Board’ badge in the soap WhatsApp group.
She said: “I told the girls on our WhatsApp group and had a ‘Baby on Board’ badge down in London and sent them a little selfie.
“Tina [O’Brien] and Jane [Danson] knew for quite a while. They both picked up on it to be fair and they’ve been wonderful. So kind and lovely.”
Julia also admitted ‘Corrie’ producers will no doubt hide her growing baby bump with the Rovers Return bar when she films scenes in the fictional boozer, and is now glad her character wears baggy clothes.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, she added: “Lucky for me, Shona does wear quite baggy clothes. I think we’ll be able to hide it. Maybe some Rovers scenes with the bar.”
Julia recently joked she will request a double-barrelled surname if Shona marries David to try to avoid being the victim of a Platt family curse, after his wife Kylie Platt (Paula Lane) was murdered, and his mum Gail Platt (Helen Worth) has a long list of dead husbands.
She quipped: “I might push for a double-barrelled surname and not be a complete Platt.”
