Anton Danyluk is smitten with Arabella Chi

OHMYGOSSIP — Anton Danyluk is already smitten with ‘Love Island’ newcomer Arabella Chi.
The 24-year-old gym owner was left single earlier this week when viewers of the ITV2 reality show voted to send his partner, Elma Pazar, home, but it seems a new romance could be just around the corner, as he’s already interested in 28-year-old model Arabella, who entered the villa on Thursday’s (20.06.19) episode.
When Arabella entered the villa, Curtis Pritchard ran to tell the other islanders that a new girl had arrived, Anton originally didn’t believe him.
He said: “There’s a new girl outside? No way.”
But after stepping outside and landing eyes on her, he was immediately stunned and rushed back inside to freshen up before introducing himself.
He added: “There is! There is mate. I need to wash my face, I’m going in the shower! There’s a girl! It would have to be first thing in the morning man.”
Luckily for the hunk, Arabella chose him and Danny Williams – who is currently paired up with Yewande Biala – to take on dates during the episode, and Anton was visibly pleased with the decision.
During their date, Arabella admitted that she found Anton “a lot better looking” in real life compared to what she’d seen on TV before entering the villa.
She said: “I’m going to be honest; you’re a lot better looking in real life. You’ve got a great tan.”
Anton replied: “It’s nice to go on a date with such a beautiful girl.”
The pair then went on to speak about their childhood, where Anton admitted he wasn’t always the hunk he is today.
He told her: “When I was at school, believe it or not, I was slightly overweight. I wouldn’t take my top off when I went swimming. Now, you can’t get me to keep my top on!”
‘Love Island’ continues Friday (21.06.19) night at 9pm on ITV2.

Charlie Frederick laughs off Love Island exes sharing a bed

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlie Frederick tried to laugh off scenes of his two exes sharing a bed together on ‘Love Island’ – despite claiming he had been “completely mugged off” by Arabella Chi before she entered the villa.
The former ‘Love Island’ contestant – who made a brief appearance on the ITV2 dating show last year, and previously dated this year’s Islander Lucie Donlan – has hit out at Arabella for “completely disregarding [his] feelings” before she joined the show, and claimed the 28-year-old model “lied” to him, leaving him “truly upset”.
He wrote on Instagram Stories: “Right so this is an absolute madness for me.
“Finding out that a person I’m seeing on a serious level has just strolled into the villa completely disregarding my feelings and our relationship or what we had. I feel like I have to air these screen shots because I feel like I’ve been completely mugged off.
“I’m truly upset that Arabella has lied to me about what she was doing and claiming she had a campaign but instead actually going into Love Island.
“Every relationship has its ups and downs but these next screen shots are all within the last 2 weeks. I’m truly gutted and for the life of me cannot figure out why she has DONE THIS. (sic)”
He later shared messages claiming to be between him and Arabella, but has since deleted them from his Stories.
On last night’s (20.06.19) episode, viewers saw Lucie mention to Arabella that she was her “ex’s ex”, but the model replied: “Well, not ex. Not ex.”
Arabella then said she was sure there was “definitely no crossover though”, and Lucie replied: “Oh no, of course not.”
With the pair both single in the villa, Lucie and Arabella shared a bed together.
Charlie then posted a screenshot of them in bed, writing: “Gotta laugh ain’t ya (sic)”
When asked her “claim to fame” before she entered the villa, Arabella said: “I dated Charlie Frederick for a time.”
And things went from bad to worse for Charlie last night, after he discovered, when it was too late, that his toothbrush was covered in aftershave – leaving his mouth “on fire”.
He said: “I just bought a new Versace aftershave and it leaked in my bum bag. It went all over my toothbrush, and my mouth is on fire. Versace on fire.”

All Together Now axed

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘All Together Now’ has been axed.
The singing competition – which was fronted by Rob Beckett and Geri Horner – has been dropped by the BBC after two series and a celebrity special, but producers are keen to find a new project for the two hosts to work on together.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “The show was good fun and seemed to rate well.
“It had solid ratings and the BBC commissioned a second series, so clearly saw some promise in it.
“But after two airings and a celebrity special, which was won by ‘EastEnders’ Laurie Brett, they’ve decided to leave it there.
“They thought Rob and Geri were a great team and are now seeing what else they can do with them.”
A BBC spokesperson confirmed the show had been axed but praised the efforts of all those who had worked on it and helped to sell the format around the world.
The representative said: “We would like to thank Rob and Geri and all members of The 100 for two fabulous series and an unforgettable celebrity special.
“The award-winning format is now on air in 14 countries and the BBC is delighted to have played a part in bringing this unique singing show to the wider TV world.
“We would like to thank the production team for all their hard work in launching such a successful format.”
The show saw singers compete for a £50,000 prize by trying to get as many of ‘The 100’ – a huge judging panel – to stand up and sing along as possible in order to progress to the next round.
Michael Rice won the 2018 edition of the show, while the most recent run saw Shelleyann Evans take the crown.

Malique Thompson-Dwyer quits Hollyoaks

OHMYGOSSIP — Malique Thompson-Dwyer has quit ‘Hollyoaks’.
The 21-year-old actor will leave his role as Prince McQueen this summer after three years on the Channel 4 soap, and he will be pursuing other acting roles as well as his music interests.
He said: “I will miss everyone, every single person.
“I have been doing a lot of music and I’m trying to peruse that and get my music out there, however acting is my main passion which I won’t be giving up.”
But Prince could return to the village one day, as the ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ star confirmed his alter-ego will not die.
He said: “The door is open. My character is still alive so you never know.”
Prince has been “really struggling” since his wife Lily McQueen (Lauren McQueen) died suddenly in April after contracting sepsis.
Malique said: “Since Lily has been gone, Prince tried to preoccupy himself and take his mind off her, but he’s been really struggling.
“I think Goldie will struggle with the prospect of Prince leaving, most likely feeling left behind once again as she was by her other son, Hunter. However, I think Prince can persuade her that it’s the right thing for him to do.”
And Malique admits he will “never forget” shooting the dramatic 2018 ‘Hollyoaks’ storm scenes on the soap.
He said: “It’s so hard to choose my favourite storyline, especially playing Prince as he has had ups and downs, explosions, stunts and car crashes.
“But one thing I’ll never forget is filming the storm in Fleetwood in Blackpool. It was incredible.”

Chiwetel Ejiofor joins The Old Guard

OHMYGOSSIP — Chiwetel Ejiofor has joined the cast of ‘The Old Guard’.
The ’12 Years a Slave’ actor is the latest actor to join the film adaptation of a five-issue comic book series of the same name about immortal warriors, which also stars Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne and Marwan Kenzari.
According to the Daily Mail newspaper columnist Baz Bamigboye, Chiwetel will play Copley, an ex-CIA operative who hires the fighters for a rescue mission but is not immortal himself.
Harry Melling has also joined the movie and will play sociopathic businessman Steve Merrick, while Veronica Ngo will portray a character named Quynh.
Charlize leads the cast as 5,000-year-old Andronika the Scythian, who is known as Andy, the leader of the warriors, an Amazon from the Herodotus age of ancient Greece and has no idea why she’s still alive.
Starring alongside her as another immortal warrior will be ‘If Beale Street Could Talk’ actress KiKi, who will portray newest recruit Nile, a US Marine. A third role will be that of a French Renaissance thief, but their casting has not been revealed yet.
Marwan will play Joe, a part of the “long-lived squad” who was once a “moor warrior”.
‘The Old Guard’ comics were produced by writer Greg Rucka and illustrator Leandro Fernandez and the authors have described their work as a “fairytale of blood and bullets”.
‘The Secret Life of Bees’ filmmaker Gina Prince-Bythewood is directing the movie, which will be filmed in the UK and Morocco.
Work is currently underway at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, which is also home to James Bond 25.

Ray Winstone ‘joins Black Widow cast’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ray Winstone has joined the cast of ‘Black Widow’.
The 62-year-old actor – known for the likes of ‘The Departed’ and ‘Sexy Beast’ – is expected to appear in the Marvel standalone movie alongside David Harbour, Florence Pugh, and titular star Scarlett Johansson, sources have told Variety.
Cate Shortland will direct the motion picture, with Kevin Feige producing the project.
Production for the film, written by Jac Schaeffer, has started in London.
In April, Rachel Weisz and O. T. Fagbenle were said to be in talks to join the film, which will focus on Johansson’s S.H.I.E.L.D. spy character Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, an alter-ego she has portrayed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2010, when she made her debut in ‘Iron Man 2’.
Emma Watson has also been linked to the motion picture, with her potential part recently described as a “kick-ass female [James] Bond”.
Johansson has high hopes for her Black Widow film, and believes Feige can help to create a “really ground-breaking” movie.
She said: “The only way to do it would be if it were something that we’ve never seen before that was really ground-breaking and incredibly bad ass. I think if anyone could make that happen my boss Kevin Feige could. He’s a visionary.
“I think it could be something really special. There’s a lot of room there. The character has a tortured past, she’s had to make a lot of difficult decisions. She has a lot of trauma. She’s got issues. There’s room to work them all out.”

Angela Griffin ‘returning to Coronation Street’

OHMYGOSSIP — Angela Griffin is returning to ‘Coronation Street’.
The 42-year-old actress portrayed hairdresser Fiona Middleton from 1992 to 1998, and she looks set to reprise her role for a “short and sweet” stint, which will see her ex Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) told he is the father of hairdresser Emma Brooker (Alexandra Mardell), who is expected to turn out to be Fiona’s daughter.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Angela’s return is short and sweet but it has huge implications for Steve.
“She’s back on screens and will find out that the dates that he was with Fiona tally up to when Emma was born.”
Steve’s mum Liz McDonald (Beverley Callard) is set to work out that Emma, born in 1999, was conceived in 1998 when her son was dating Fiona.
Ever since Alexandra joined the show in April 2018 fans have speculated she could be Fiona’s daughter, because the pair are both hairdressers and have similarities.
However, Alexandra has previously insisted the potential plot is “definitely not true”.
She said: “I’ve heard the Fiona and Steve’s daughter theory, but that’s definitely not true.”
Alexandra and Angela have spoken about the theory, and found it “quite funny”.
She added: “I did have a little chat and a joke with Angela Griffin about it and that was quite funny.”
Alexandra’s comments came after fans took to Twitter to point out the similarities between Emma and Fiona following Emma’s arrival as David Platt’s (Jack P. Shepherd) love interest.
One Twitter user wrote: “So how long before we find out that you’re Steve McDonald’s daughter from his brief relationship with the hairdresser? Fiona I think she was called? Great way to get Angela Griffin back. 🙂 (sic)”
Another shared: “I know I said she could be Kelly Crabtree’s daughter, isn’t Emma the right age to be Fiona & Steve’s daughter? #AngelaGriffin @simongregson123 #CoronationStreet (sic)”
One viewer wrote: “#corrie is it me? Or does Emma look like a young Fiona? Xx (sic)”
And Angela has previously admitted her alter-ego could’ve been pregnant before she left.
In 2014, she said: “My idea for a return storyline – if I were to go back – was that I’d have been pregnant by Steve when I left. And I could then return with the child.”

ITV ‘plotting Jeremy Kyle return with two shows’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Kyle is reportedly set to return to TV with two ITV shows.
The 53-year-old star’s self-titled ITV show was axed after 14 years last month following the tragic death of participant Steve Dymond – who died from a suspected suicide just over a week after recording an appearance on the programme – but it’s said channel bosses are discussing potential future projects for the presenter.
According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, a new series of ‘The Kyle Files’, in which the presenter uses secret filming to tackle social issues, is set to return in 2020.
But the second programme is still up in the air as ITV bosses consider previous shows Jeremy has produced for them, including ‘Emergency Room’ – which saw people air their medical worries to doctors – and ‘High Stakes’.
The latter was cancelled after just one run, but offered big-money prizes to contestants.
A source told the publication: “‘The Kyle Files’ will be back as usual in early 2020 and another show is being sought for him.”
Jeremy was left “devastated” by Steve’s death and he sent his “thoughts and sympathies” to his family.
He previously said: “Myself and the production team I have worked with for the last 14 years are all utterly devastated by the recent events. Our thoughts and sympathies are with Steve’s family and friends at this incredibly sad time.”
Announcing the end of ‘The Jeremy Kyle Show’, Carolyn McCall – ITV’s CEO – said at the time: “Given the gravity of recent events we have decided to end production of ‘The Jeremy Kyle Show’.
“‘The Jeremy Kyle Show’ has had a loyal audience and has been made by a dedicated production team for 14 years, but now is the right time for the show to end. Everyone at ITV’s thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends of Steve Dymond.
“The previously announced review of the episode of the show is underway and will continue.”

Richard Madden: Bodyguard sequel isn’t being made this year

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Madden says the ‘Bodyguard’ sequel won’t be made this year.
While talks are officially underway for a second series of the hugely popular BBC One drama – in which he starred as personal protection officer PC David Budd alongside Keeley Hawes, who played Home Secretary Julia Montague – the leading man has explained the team are keen to take their time with whatever comes next.
He told Deadline: “We decided we’re not going to rush it and shoot something this year. We’re going to give it a breath and do it justice.
“If we come back to do another one, I want to do something as different as the first series was, and not just repeat the cycle, repeat the formula.
“I want to do something totally different and I’m excited to see what [creator Jed Mercurio] comes up with in that way.”
Despite the delay, the 32-year-old actor – whose character walked through the streets of central London with a suicide bomb strapped to his chest in the season finale – is excited to see where the story goes.
He added: “I’m fascinated by a man who’s gone through so much, and I’m very keen to see what happens to him two years later.
“Where will this man be, in terms of his mental health, in terms of his wife and children, in terms of his career?
“He’s not going to sit back and retire, and he’s not going to pick a normal job. He’s going to be engaged in something interesting.”
His comments come after Jed revealed the team are currently holding discussions about bringing the programme back.
He recently said: “We’re in talks. We’re going through the logistics of it. There’s no real update now.”

Love Island’s Casa Amor ‘set to return next week’

OHMYGOSSIP — Love Island’s Casa Amor is set to return next week.
The second villa twist caused controversy on the ITV2 dating show last year when Dani Dyer was shown a clip of Jack Fincham revealing in Casa Amor that he used to date one of the then-new Islanders, Ellie Jones, sparking more than 2,500 complaints to Ofcom after Dani wasn’t shown footage of Jack declaring his love for her.
And, according to The Sun Online, the villa will be back as soon as next week when 12 new Islanders head to Majorca to shake up the current crop.
Last month, there was speculation Casa Amor may be axed this year.
A source said: “Casa Amor was the ultimate test for islanders in their new romances – and viewers were left on the edge of their seats as producers teased potential betrayals and heartbreak.
“But after two years there are concerns the rival villa won’t have the same impact and that new islanders who’ve watched the show will see it coming.
“It all depends what happens when the series starts – there’s still a possibility Casa Amor will be used but at the moment producers aren’t certain.”
But days later, show boss Angelia Jain hinted the twist could well be included once again, admitting the Islanders’ relationships will be “tested” with “format twists” throughout the series.
She said: “What we do in terms of format twists – as this is ongoing casting – we’re trying to mirror real life and relationships do get tested, that’s entirely normal.
“So we will test them and the islanders are fully aware their relationships will get tested.
“We will do that because that’s the expectation for the audience and the islanders.”
Last year, UK communications regulator Ofcom initially received 650 complaints from viewers about the way Dani was treated in the episode after she was shown the clip of Jack, which resulted in her bursting into tears.
The figure later increased to 2,525, but Ofcom later cleared the show because they didn’t feel ‘Love Island’ breached any guidelines.

Eamonn Holmes breaks down in tribute to Ruth Langsford’s sister

OHMYGOSSIP — Eamonn Holmes broke down while explaining why Rylan Clark-Neal has stepped in for his wife Ruth Langsford on today’s (21.06.19) ‘This Morning’, following the death of her sister.
The 59-year-old TV presenter informed viewers why Ruth wasn’t on today’s episode after her older sibling Julia passed away, and he began reading out a heartfelt tribute tweet she wrote yesterday (20.06.19).
He said: “Let me just explain why it is Rylan and myself today. You may already be aware of the terrible bereavement Ruth has had yesterday on her social media.
“She made this post to inform everyone and she said, ‘My lovely sis Julia has died after a long illness.
“‘My heart is completely broken. She was the kindest and most gentle soul …’ ”
As Eamonn struggled to hold back the tears, Rylan then took over reading out Ruth’s tribute, saying: “‘And I’ll miss her forever as I am sure you will appreciate I need to take him to grieve. Thank you for your understanding.’ ”
Eamonn admitted he was grateful to Rylan for stepping in for Ruth, and revealed the former ‘Big Brother’s Bit on the Side’ host was the first person he called when he heard Julia had passed away.
He said: “No one understands more than our friend and our colleague Rylan, who has been a great comfort to Ruth and a great help by stepping in today for her.”
Rylan admitted he “couldn’t not be here” standing in for the ‘Loose Women’ anchor.
He said: “We know Ruth is watching and we are sending you all our love, and we love you dearly. And Ruth is going to need time to deal with this.
“And so are you, for that matter. But I couldn’t not be here.”
Eamonn replied: “Thank you. Rylan was the first person I phoned when we heard this news, and you are a great support to Ruth on all of this.”
He also revealed show bosses had chosen “bereavement” as the topic of today’s ‘This Morning’ phone-in following Ruth’s tragic news.
Eamonn explained: “Because of what Ruth has gone through, we thought it might be an appropriate time to talk about a loved one.”
Ruth – who co-hosts ‘This Morning’ with Eamonn every Friday – revealed yesterday her sister had sadly died.
She wrote on Twitter: “My lovely Sis Julia has sadly died after a very long illness. My heart is completely broken.
“She was the kindest and most gentle soul and I will miss her forever.
“As I am sure you will appreciate I need to take time to grieve with my family. Thank you for your understanding.”
The two sisters were close, and Ruth previously revealed in an interview that her fantasy 24 hours would involve spending time with Julia.
Referring to her own son, she said: “I’d take Jack, my sister Julia and my niece Katie to a matinee in the West End, followed by a cream tea with the family.”

Easy A spin-off in the works

OHMYGOSSIP — An ‘Easy A’ spin-off movie is in the works.
Nearly a decade after the 2010 hit teen comedy was released Screen Gems have recruited original screenwriter Bert Royal to create another movie.
According to Variety, the film is still in “early development” as Royal is still in the process of writing the screenplay but it will be set at the same school with a new group of teens and teachers.
The original film starred Emma Stone as high school student Olive Penderghast who takes on the unwarranted reputation as a “school tramp” after she lies about losing her virginity to a college guy.
However, it is not thought that Stone, 30, will appear in the new film.
The original film was a financial success earning $75 million worldwide from an $8 million production budget.
Despite the success of the film, ‘La La Land’ actress Stone has admitted that she’s never actually seen the movie all the way through as she found it hard to watch herself on screen “for that long”.
She previously said: “I haven’t seen it. No, I’ve seen some scenes. But I went to a friends and family screening to see it, and I had to get up and walk out. Who wants to watch themselves for that long?
“I was 20 and I put so much pressure on myself. While we were shooting it, I was just going nuts and was like, ‘I don’t know, this whole thing could fall apart, I have no idea.’
“Because I had to be there all day, every day. And if I wasn’t on screen, I was narrating, and it was just too much me.
“It was kind of like, I just felt like it had to be well-calibrated throughout, and it was the first time that I had ever had to rely on myself mostly to be able to carry all that, I think I just put so much pressure on myself.”

Hollyoaks’ Owen Warner wants more scenes with girlfriend Steph Davis

OHMYGOSSIP — Owen Warner wants more ‘Hollyoaks’ scenes with his girlfriend Steph Davis.
The 20-year-old actor admits he would be up for filming a lot more alongside his lover – who he started dating in December – because he finds her character Sinead Shelby is “very interesting”.
He said: “I’d love some more scenes with Sinead as she seems like a really interesting character.”
But the couple may not be able to film scenes together much over the summer, because Owen is planning to take his girlfriend on holiday to Greece.
When asked about getaway plans, he said: “Hopefully I’m going to whisk Steph away to Greece.”
But one ‘Hollyoaks’ star who will be departing this summer and not returning anytime soon is Owen’s pal Malique Thompson-Dwyer – who plays Prince McQueen – after the ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ star quit the Channel 4 soap.
Following the news, Owen has been left “gutted”, and admits that while he would love his friend to remain on the programme, he is looking forward to seeing what he does next.
He said: “Words can’t describe how gutted I am! Since I came here he’s been my best mate, and I always have such a laugh with him.
“A selfish part of me wants him to stay but also I can’t wait to see where his career is going to go.”
But Owen could have reason to celebrate next year, after Steph recently hinted the pair may marry in 2020.
She recently said: “I used to ask people, ‘How do know if they’re The One?’ and they’d say, ‘You just know.’
“I can’t imagine my life without him. He’s so good to me, and he loves the bones of me. He’s shown me what a real relationship is like.
“He’s the one I am going to marry, so hopefully it’ll happen next year. That’s what he tells me.”

David Walliams has ‘no immediate plans’ to work with Matt Lucas

OHMYGOSSIP — David Walliams has “no immediate plan” to work with Matt Lucas again.
The ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge revealed earlier this year he had repaired his fractured friendship with ‘Little Britain’ collaborator Matt Lucas, sparking speculation of a comedy reunion.
But though the 47-year-old star admitted they are hoping to work together on a new project, nothing is set in stone just yet.
He told The Sun newspaper: “It has been great seeing much more of Matt. He is spending more time in the UK, so it has been a lot easier to see each other.
“We hope to do something together in the near future, but there is no immediate plan.”
David’s comments come after it was recently claimed he and Matt wanted to resume their comedy partnership and work on a new series of one of their shows, most likely airline sketch show ‘Come Fly With Me’.
A source said recently: “It’s all very quiet, and very recent, but Matt and David have started speaking again. They’ve made up, which is amazing and what’s even better is that they are in serious discussions to work together next year.
“Both realise they missed one another a lot and realise how much joy they can bring themselves and the general public by making a comeback.
“‘Come Fly With Me’ is seeming the best option at the moment.”
David previously admitted he’d also love to bring back ‘Little Britain’ for another tour.
He said in November: “I would like to return to it. I would like to do a live show again, I think that would be fun.”
Asked what Matt thinks of the idea, he added: “Yeah, yeah, well, yeah, y’know.
“We were talking about, there’s an idea to possible do it for charity as well.
“The show wasn’t that big in America. I think we would do Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland.”
The pair fell out during their 2005 ‘Little Britain Live’ tour, with 45-year-old Matt detailing in his autobiography, ‘Little Me’, how they were “often at loggerheads” over minor issues such as what chocolate to have backstage, which rapidly escalated and they eventually stopped speaking in 2011.

Danny Boyle backs Robert Pattinson to play Bond

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Boyle thinks Robert Pattinson should be the next James Bond.
The 62-year-old director – who was originally set to helm Bond 25 but left the project over creative differences – has backed Pattinson, 33, to take over the tuxedo from Daniel Craig once he hangs it up for the final time.
Boyle is convinced the ‘Twilight Saga’ star would make a great 007 after seeing his performance in 2018 sci-fi film ‘High Life’.
Recalling his reaction to Pattinson in Claire Denis’ film in an interview with The Guardian newspaper, he said: “And it was so bizarre, because I was sitting there thinking, ‘Oh my God, they should get him to be the next Bond.’ ”
When asked whether he thought Pattinson could potentially be too young for the role, he said: “No, no, he must be in his 30s. How old was [Sean] Connery? He’s ready now.”
The ‘Trainspotting’ filmmaker previously revealed that it was a disagreement with producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson over the script that caused him to exit the project but insisted it was a “great shame” that things didn’t work out.
He said: “I learned quite a lot about myself working with Bond. I work in partnership with writers and I am not prepared to break it up.
“We were working very, very well, but they didn’t want to go down that route with us. So we decided to part company.”
Cary Joji Fukunaga has since been appointed as the movie’s director and Boyle wouldn’t reveal any specific details about the disagreement because it would be “unfair” on the new filmmaker.
He said: “It would be unfair to say what it was because I don’t know what Cary is going to do. I got a very nice message from him and I gave him my best wishes … It is just a great shame.”

Daniel Brocklebank says trolls abuse him less because he ‘calls them out’

OHMYGOSSIP — Daniel Brocklebank says homophobic trolls don’t abuse him as much anymore because he “calls them out”.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actor admits he still receives cruel comments for playing homosexual vicar Billy Mayhew on the ITV soap, and while the abuse “still exists”, he says people “do it less now” since he started pointing out their comments.
When asked if he “gets much grief” on social media for playing the cobbles character, he said: “I do. I choose to highlight it, actually.
“I think it’s important to highlight in 2019 that it still exists. People do it less now because I call them out on Twitter, so I think they’ve stopped because they know I’ll highlight it.
“I think it’s important that we can show that religion and homosexuality can go together.
“Because obviously they are two subjects which are often opposing in most religions. It has been good to represent that.”
Daniel remained coy on speculation ‘Corrie’ may be set to follow in EastEnders’ footsteps by getting its very own gay bar, and admitted he hopes Billy will run the establishment if one does pop up in Weatherfield.
He said: “Not as far as I know – if there is I hope Billy is running it.”
The 39-year-old star recently put pen to paper on a new ‘Corrie’ deal, but admitted he would be open to more stage work in the future after winning ‘All Star Musicals’.
Quizzed on whether this could open doors for him, he told ‘Good Morning Britain’: “I suppose so.
“I am still in ‘Corrie’ I have just signed another contract for there. I am absolutely not leaving there.”
