Louise Redknapp wants X Factor job

OHMYGOSSIP — Louise Redknapp wants to be an ‘X Factor’ judge.
The popstar has revealed that she would jump at the chance to take part in Simon Cowell’s show when it returns for a celebrity version later this year.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I love the ‘¬X Factor’, I think it’s brilliant, I would definitely be up for being a judge on it. For sure. If Simon can make it happen that would be great.”
However, Louise would not be interested in competing in the celebrity version.
She said: “I don’t think that would be the right thing for me at this point in my career, but judging is a different idea entirely. That could work well.”
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that James Arthur would also love to be a judge on the celebrity version of ‘The X Factor’.
The ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ hitmaker previously walked away as the champion of the ITV singing competition back in 2012, and after plans were announced to create an all star version of the programme, James said he’d “love to get involved” as a member of the judging panel.
He said: “I’d love to get involved but I wouldn’t want to be a contestant. I’m still signed to a record label so I don’t think it would be right for me to take part in that way, but I’d definitely be up for helping out in some way.”
And when asked if he’d judge the show, he added: “Yes I’d love to do that. If they want a really honest judge then I’d be more than happy to do it.”

Love Island’s Michael Griffiths dumps Amber Gill for new girl

OHMYGOSSIP — Amber Gill has been left single after Michael Griffiths dumped her for new girl Joanna Chimonides in Love Island’s savage re-coupling on Tuesday (02.07.19) night.
The 21-year-old beautician was shocked to find out that her partner – who grafted hard to persuade her to couple up with him in the first place because he wasn’t her “type” – had hit it off with the brunette beauty in the Main Villa over the past three days while she was staying loyal to him in Casa Amor.
Amber refused to get to know any of the new boys during her time in the sister villa and was horrified at the thought of Michael snogging another girl during the group challenges, but the 27-year-old firefighter had other ideas as he happily locked lips with Joanna and shared a bed with her.
When asked if he wanted to stay with Amber or recouple, Michael said: “The last few days have been quite interesting. They’ve opened my mind to a few things. So the past few days have given me a lot of time to reflect. I’ve come to the realisation that I’ve not been true to myself and I’ve overlooked certain situations that I wouldn’t normally do.
“I’ve bitten my tongue when I wouldn’t usually do so. Meeting this girl has brought the Michael that I know and everyone else knows back. She’s unbelievably stunning and she doesn’t take herself too seriously which is a massive thing for me and although it doesn’t usually roll off my tongue, I do believe she’s beautiful. So I’ve decided to recouple. The girl I would like to recouple with is Joanna.”
The news didn’t go down too well with Amber’s friends as Anna Vakili, Molly-Mae Hague and Maura Higgins all buried their heads in their hands as Caroline asked Amber to come in.
The strong-minded model – who classes herself a 10 out of 10 – walked in on her own, having decided to stick with Michael, to find her now-ex-beau standing side-by-side with Joanna.
And Michael wasn’t the only one to have his head turned while the girls were away as Curtis Pritchard admitted earlier on in the show that he had taken a shining to new girl Jourdan Riane and was in two minds about whether he would stay coupled up with Amy Hart or ditch her for the stunning model.
The professional dancer snogged Jourdan in two separate challenges after admitting that he fancied her but decided against coupling up with her after she told him that she liked Danny Williams.
Curtis said: “Amy and I we haven’t had any test or bumps in the road and things were going fantastic until a few days ago.
“Basically a young girl walked into the villa and made me realise a lot of things … It made me realise I’d been lying to myself and most of all, to Amy. I just hope everything can be sorted out.”
Although he decided to stay with Amy, he has promised that he will be “honest” about what has gone on in the Main Villa while she was away – and the revelation will no doubt infuriate the air hostess as she declared her love for the hunk to her friend Molly-Mae just hours before.
In tomorrow (03.07.19) night’s show, Amber and Michael will lock horns and Amy and Curtis will come to blows as the boys reveal the reasons why their heads were turned while they were away.

Six people get dumped from Love Island in brutal re-coupling

OHMYGOSSIP — Six people have been dumped from ‘Love Island’ after tonight’s (02.07.19) brutal re-coupling.
Producers dropped 12 new singletons – six girls and six boys – onto the sun-soaked island last week in the hope of destroying already-matched couples and creating tension between contestants – and they certainly accomplished their mission as three people had their heads turned in a new direction and six new pairings have been born.
After spending three days getting to know the new girls, Danny Williams – who was left single after Arabella Chi was dumped from the villa last week – hit it off with model Jourdan Riane and decided to partner up with her during the savage re-coupling.
Maura Higgins – who was also single after Tom Walker was given the boot – was getting to know two boys; Marvin Brooks and Dennon Lewis during her time in the sister villa Casa Amor, but ultimately went with the footballer because she felt he was actually interested in her life.
Anton Danyluk hasn’t had much luck on the love front since he entered the villa three weeks ago but has finally found his match after Belle Hassan joined the Main Villa three days ago.
The gym owner couldn’t believe his luck when the busty blonde asked to share a bed with him and tickled his fancy when she ran her long nails down his back while he was snoozing.
Lucie Donlan – who had all the boys after her in the beginning – has decided to pair up with George Rains because he’s “so good looking” after ruling out millionaire Stevie Bradley.
Professional dancer Curtis Pritchard decided to stay coupled up with Amy Hart – even though he has admitted he fancies Jourdan and would be open to “getting to know her.”
Professional boxer Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague have also decided to stay together – and the social media influencer was reduced to tears when she found out her beau’s decision as she had convinced herself he had fallen for someone else when she saw that her cuddly toy Ellie Belly the Elephant had been moved from her place on his bed.
However, she later realised he’d actually been holding it to greet her with.
Anna Vakili ruffled a few feathers when it came to her turn to announce her decision as Jordan Hames – who she was originally partnered up with – decided to stay with her, but she had fallen for new boy Ovie Soko in Casa Amor and wanted to take him back to the Main Villa with her – leaving Jordan single and, ultimately, in danger.
And the 24-year-old model isn’t the only one single now as Amber Gill is also on the lookout for a new lover after Michael Griffiths dumped her for new girl Joanna Chimonides.
The re-coupling meant that Stevie, Dennon, Dan Rose, Lavena Back, Nabila Badda and Maria Wild have all left the villa after they failed to hit it off with anyone enough to couple up with.

Arabella Chi ditches Danny Williams?

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Love Island’ star Arabella Chi has ditched Danny Williams after he recoupled with Jourdan Riane.
The 28-year-old model had admitted she would be prepared to wait for the 21-year-old star once he left the ITV2 dating show, but she is now said to have decided “things are well and truly over” after he hooked up with the newcomer on last night’s (02.07.19) episode.
A source told The Sun Online: “Arabella’s feelings for Danny were really genuine but she thinks he has shown his true colours now.
“They had an amazing connection when they were on the show and she had hoped they could make things work on the outside.
“But she did also make it clear she wouldn’t be made to look like a mug so it’s fair to say that things with Danny are well and truly over.
“She told pals that she won’t be starting off where they left off when he leaves the villa.”
The writing was on the wall as Danny and Jourdan had been sharing steamy smooching sessions and a bed for the past few nights.
Speaking yesterday (02.07.19), Arabella admitted: “I didn’t enjoy seeing Danny’s kiss that’s for sure.”
Arabella also took a swipe at Danny, saying he had been “acting his age” after he “jumped ship” to Jourdan just days after she was dumped from the island.
The ‘Wonder Woman’ star – who won over Danny’s affections in the villa, which led to Yewande Biala being dumped – said: “I think he’s saying the same to her [Jourdan] as he did to me. Obviously with Yewande, I feel like it’s history repeating itself but in a very short period of time.
“I feel like he’s just acting his age which, yeah, does change my view on him because I feel like he’s acting like a 21 year old now.
“He’s just jumping ship. But like I said, he is single like I’m single so he can …. you know … he’s entitled to do what he wants to do.”

Quentin Tarantino planning retirement from directing

OHMYGOSSIP — Quentin Tarantino has admitted he has “come to the end of the road” with directing.
The Hollywood legend has contemplated retiring from helming big screen productions and is considering becoming a writer of books and theatre.
He told GQ magazine: “I think when it comes to theatrical movies, I’ve come to the end of the road.
“I see myself writing books and starting to write theatre, so I’ll still be creative. I just think I’ve given all I have to give to movies.”
‘Once Upon A Time in Hollywood’ could be his final film and he has even considered not bothering at all with his ninth movie.
He admitted: “If it’s really well received, maybe I won’t go to 10.
“Maybe I’ll stop right now! Maybe I’ll stop while I’m ahead. We’ll see.”
Brad Pitt – who plays Cliff Booth in the upcoming comedy drama – says the ‘Pulp Fiction’ helmer is “dead serious” about quitting the job but he said it won’t be the last we hear of the 56-year-old filmmaker.
He added to the publication: “No, I don’t think he’s bluffing at all.
“I think he’s dead serious. And I kind of openly lament that to him, but he understands the math of when he feels like directors start falling off their game.
“But he has other plans and we’re not going to have to say goodbye for a long time.”
Meanwhile, Tarantino previously insisted that ‘Once Upon a Time In Hollywood’ is his “most personal” film because it is inspired by his own childhood.
The ‘Django Unchained’ director considers his highly anticipated film – which is set 1969 Los Angeles and stars Leonardo DiCaprio as television star Rick Dalton, Pitt as his long-time stunt double and Margot Robbie as movie star Sharon Tate – to be a “love letter” to the last moments of Hollywood’s golden age and he considers the story to be a “memory piece” about Los Angeles, the city where he grew up and that fuelled his passion for cinema.
He said: “[The film is] probably my most personal. I think of it like my memory piece.
“Alfonso [Cuarón] had ‘Roma’ and Mexico City, 1970. I had LA and 1969. This is me. This is the year that formed me. I was six years old then. This is my world. And this is my love letter to LA.”

Colin Jost joins Tom and Jerry movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Colin Jost has joined ‘Tom and Jerry’.
The ‘Saturday Night Live’ writer – who is engaged to Scarlett Johansson – looks set to star alongside Chloe Grace Moretz and Michael Pena in the movie, according to Deadline.
Tim Story will direct and executive produce the Warner Bros. live action/ animation motion picture, which is based on the original series of cartoon short films created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera in 1940.
The shorts told the story of the rivalry between cat Tom and mouse Jerry.
Adam Goodman will also executive produce the movie, and Chris DeFaria will produce.
It’s not yet known who Jost will portray in the movie, but Grace Moretz has been lined up for the role of Kayla, a new employee at a posh hotel, and Pena will portray her alter-ego’s evil boss Terrance.
After Jerry sets up home in the hotel, Kayla hires Tom, who is a struggling alley cat, to get rid of him but the pair soon work together to get rid of Terrance.
Jost – who got engaged to ‘Avengers: Endgame’ star Johansson in May – has previously starred in 2015 comedy movie ‘Staten Island Summer’, which he also wrote, alongside the likes of John DeLuca, Zack Pearlman and Kate Walsh.
And he appeared in 2016 romantic-comedy ‘How to Be Single’ opposite Dakota Johnson, Rebel Wilson and Leslie Mann.
The movie – which also featured Alison Brie and Jake Lacy – was directed by Christian Ditter and based on novel of the same name by Liz Tuccillo.

Tristan Gemmill ‘wary about repetition’ on Coronation Street

OHMYGOSSIP — Tristan Gemmill is “wary about repetition” on ‘Coronation Street’.
The 52-year-old star is delighted with the “great” storylines he has played out as Bistro owner Robert Preston since 2015, but ahead of his ‘Corrie’ exit the actor admitted there is “always a time to move on”.
He said: “I’ve had an awful lot of great stories but I think as an actor you have to be slightly wary about repetition.
“There’s always a time to move on.”
Tristan is looking forward to facing new “challenges”, but isn’t sure what exactly he wants to do next.
He is quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column as saying: “I don’t know what I want to do next. I’m just going to be open to the world and see what happens.
“I think there’s always a time to step away and face the challenges that may lay ahead and that’s where I am at the moment.”
Last month, Tristan confirmed he had landed his first post-‘Corrie’ role by signing up to star as Captain Hook in pantomime ‘Peter Pan’ at the Swansea Grand Theatre in Wales.
Tristan wrote on Twitter: “People of #Swansea – I am coming to throw sweets at your children. Get your tickets now! (sic)”
He shared a tweet from the theatre which revealed 2014 ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ semi-finalist Ricky K will take on the role of Starkey, and Kev Johns will portray Mrs Smee.
But the actor admitted things are set to come “crashing down” for his character ahead of his cobbles exit after Robert got his ex Vicky Jefferies (Kerri Quinn) pregnant, despite getting back with Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh).

Malin Andersson felt ‘too selfish’ to take own life

OHMYGOSSIP — Malin Andersson thought it would be “selfish” to take her own life following the deaths of her daughter and mother.
The former ‘Love Island’ star was distraught when baby Consy – who was born with a heart defect – passed away aged just four weeks, and though she’d spent time when the tot was in intensive care collecting sleeping pills, she ultimately couldn’t go through with her overdose plan.
Malin – whose mother died of cancer in November 2017 – said: “After Consy died, I locked myself in my apartment for about three weeks. I hadn’t even grieved properly after my mum’s death and now Consy too.
“I didn’t want to see anyone. I was drinking the whole time – and there were times I would grab my sleeping tablets and think, ‘Do I join Mum and Consy in heaven or do I stay here?’
“One day, I decided I just couldn’t drink anymore. I thought, ‘What a waste of a life, a waste of my mum’s life and of Consy’s life.’ It felt too selfish to take my own.”
In March, the 26-year-old star ended her 14-month on/off relationship with Tom Kemp – who she subsequently accused of being abusive and unfaithful, which he denied – and she’s vowed never to go back to their “toxic” romance.
She said: “I’d been suffering in silence with Tom. He was narcissistic and he humiliated and bullied me, but I kept going back for more because I thought I had no one else.
“I used him as a comfort blanket when I was vulnerable – it was toxic and I’ll never go back. I felt I had to speak out to draw a line under it all.”
But Malin hasn’t ruled out finding love again in the future.
She said: “I want to find love – but sometimes the more you look for it, the harder it is to find. I’m texting a few guys at the moment, but nothing serious. I’m just focusing on me right now.”
And the brunette beauty is hoping to have another chance at parenthood.
She added to Closer magazine: “Even though I had Consy, it doesn’t feel like I had the chance to be a mum, to be honest.
“At the time, it felt like it was so out of my hands … I couldn’t hold her, she was getting treated, washed by other people.
“I would love kids in the future but absolutely not with Tom.”

Piers Morgan defends Gary Lineker’s £1.75m BBC earnings

OHMYGOSSIP — Piers Morgan has defended Gary Lineker’s £1.75 million BBC earnings – insisting he would be paid more if he jumped ship to ITV.
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ co-host insists the ‘Match of the Day’ host – who was revealed as the biggest star earner at the corporation in 2018/19, taking home between £1,750,000 and £1,754,999 for the Saturday football highlights show, ‘Sports Personality of the Year’ and the 2018 ‘World Cup’ coverage – is on “less than he could get paid almost anywhere else”.
He said: “He’s getting paid the market rate. He’s getting paid, I would argue, less than he could get paid almost anywhere else.
“If ITV came in for Gary Lineker now they’d pay him more than he gets from the BBC. I guarantee it.
“You can say … ‘You can get a gazillion nurses for a Lineker’ but that’s not how the reality of the marketplace works in television.”
Piers admits he “completely defends” Gary, and believes the former footballer should hit out at the BBC’s decision to scrap free TV licences for most over-75s.
His comments come after some criticised the ex-England striker’s pay in the wake of the corporation’s decision to axe the freebie for pensioners.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’, Piers added: “If I were Gary Lineker, I’d come out and whack this, I’d call their bluff.
“He fights for every other underdog on Twitter. He’s a good mate of mine. I completely defend him on this. I don’t think he’s to blame.
“If I was Gary, I’d come out on Twitter this morning and attack the decision to take the TV licences away from the pensioners.
“It would be a very brave thing to do. He’d earn himself a lot of favours from people because at the moment he’s just getting killed. He’s getting killed through no fault of his own at all.”
The BBC published the list of its highest-paid stars as part of its annual report, with former BBC Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans second in the list on £1,250,000-£1,254,999.
He left the station to move to Virgin Radio in January, so this fee reflects nine months of work on the channel’s breakfast show.
Graham Norton received £610,000-£614,999 for his BBC Radio 2 Saturday show and ‘Eurovision’, but that fee doesn’t include his BBC One chat show, while news reader Huw Edwards has taken a pay cut and received £490,000-£494,999.
Others in the list included ‘Match of the Day’ and ‘World Cup’ pundit Alan Shearer (£440,000-£444,999), and ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ co-host Claudia Winkleman (£370,000-£374,999).

Finn Cole, Anna Sawai and Vinnie Bennett join Fast and Furious 9

OHMYGOSSIP — Finn Cole, Anna Sawai and Vinnie Bennett have joined ‘Fast & Furious 9’.
The ‘Peaky Blinders’ star, alongside Anna and Vinnie, has been added to the cast of the next instalment of the blockbuster action franchise which started filming last month.
Nathalie Emmanuel, who joined as hacker Ramsey in the seventh movie, took to Twitter in June to announce shooting was underway and tease returning cast members in emoji form.
She tweeted: “Day one of shooting Fast and Furious 9 today… The team is back together.”
It was believed the first emoji was Vin Diesel (Dom), Michelle Rodriguez (Letty), Tyrese Gibson (Roman Pearce), Jordana Brewster (Mia) and as the final two have laptops they are believed to be Nathalie and Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges’ (Tej).
Vin also shared a video from the set with Michelle on his Instagram and admitted it felt like a “miracle” completing their first day.
He said: “Wow. Can you believe it, Letty? Can you believe it? We just completed our first day and it feels like a miracle.”
He added in the caption: “First day completed! Blessed beyond words. #Fast9 2020 (sic)”
Earlier this month, it was revealed that John Cena had joined the cast in an unknown role that is believed to be a “bada**”.
The WWE star confirmed the news himself in a Tweet which read: “For nearly 20 years, the Fast Franchise has entertained fans and created some of the biggest cinematic moments in history. It’s an incredible honour to join this franchise and this family. (sic)”
‘Fast and Furious 9’ has a May 2020 release and has been written by Dan Casey and is being directed by Justin Lin, who is back in the director’s chair on the franchise for a fifth time.
Vin is producing through his One Race Films banner, and Justin will also produce through Perfect Storm Entertainment.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Jason Statham will be sitting this instalment out, as they’re both busy filming a spin-off movie about their own characters, entitled ‘Hobbs and Shaw’.

Andy Muschietti on board to helm The Flash

OHMYGOSSIP — Andy Muschietti is in talks to direct ‘The Flash’.
The 45-year-old filmmaker has so far enjoyed all of his success in the horror genre with 2013 ghost story ‘Mama’ and the 2017 reboot of Stephen King’s ‘It’ but he has now opened discussions with Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films to helm a standalone film about super-fast superhero Barry Allen, who is played by Ezra Miller in the DC Extended Universe.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Muschietti is wanted to direct a movie from a new script by ‘Bumblebee’ and ‘Birds of Prey’ screenwriter Christina Hodson.
The movie has been in a state of flux as John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein were previously set to write and direct ‘The Flash’ film but made the decision to exit the project for unknown reasons, then Miller submitted a script that he co-wrote with comic book writer Grant Morrison based on the acclaimed ‘Flashpoint’ DC Comics story but the studio turned down that script in May but assured the 26-year-old actor that they wanted him to continue in the role.
Miller previously explained that the delays on ‘The Flash’ is because everyone wants to ensure the film is “just right” for the fans and accurately represents the universe that The Flash inhabits in the pages of the comic books.
The ‘Justice League’ star said: “We’re talking about sparking a whole new universe, it’s not just the DC multiverse, it’s the speedster multiverse. And the speedsters are the ones who connect all the disparate pieces of it. Because Marvel is a universe, right? It’s a world with all the same characters in it. DC is a multiverse – all these different stories with different realities, different characters and different versions of characters. And the speedsters are the ones who move through it all.”

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK lands Spice Girls and Little Mix stars as guest judges

OHMYGOSSIP — Geri Horner and Jade Thirlwall have joined ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’.
The Spice Girls and Little Mix stars have both been confirmed as guest judges for the upcoming first series of the BBC Three show, and the ‘Wannabe’ hitmaker is looking forward to joining the panel.
She said: “This show has brought so much joy and pride to people all over the world. I can’t wait for everyone to see the amazing queens representing the UK in this first ever series.”
‘Black Magic’ singer Jade – who is a huge fan of the US version of the show – admitted she wishes she could have been a queen herself.
She added: “I love absolutely everything about drag. I love that it’s art.
“I love how fabulous it is, how fun it is, I love that you can transform your body into a fantastic beautiful woman … the whole thing! I just wish in my next life I can be a drag queen.”
The star once hosted a drag queen-themed birthday party, and she starred alongside ‘Drag Race’ queens Alaska, Courtney Act and Willam in Little Mix’s ‘Power’ video two years ago.
Geri, 46, and Jade, 26, will each appear in a separate episode alongside panellists RuPaul, 58, and Michelle Visage, 50.
Comedian Alan Carr, 43, and chat show host Graham Norton, 56, will both make regular appearances as rotating judges.
‘Game of Thrones’ actress Maisie Williams, 22, has also already been lined up as a guest.
She previously said: “What I love the most about drag is the story of the drag queen behind the facade.
“I think that so much of drag comes from a place of real pain and seeing how that transforms into a character is so interesting to me. I love that about art and about drag.”
The show is “coming soon” on BBC Three.

Charlotte Crosby returning to Celebs Go Dating

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlotte Crosby is returning to ‘Celebs Go Dating’.
The former ‘Geordie Shore’ star is heading back to the E4 reality show – three years after she appeared on the programme looking for love – but this time she’ll be getting couple’s counselling with ‘Love Island’ boyfriend Joshua Ritchie after they got together last year.
She said: “When we do argue, it’s quite vicious. It can get really escalated. Like, I don’t think we really know how to deal with an argument and how to really come to a good resolution.
“I think [Anna Williamson] and [Paul Brunson] could really help us with patience. They could teach us not to snap at each other, coping mechanisms, how to deal with our problems. Maybe by communication instead of just shouting.”
The next series of the dating show – set to air later this year – will be the first to feature siblings as ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ sisters Chloe and Demi Sims will appear.
Joining them will be former ‘Love Island’ contestants Jack Fincham and Megan Barton-Hanson, Blue’s Lee Ryan, 2015 ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ campmate Lady Colin Campbell, ‘Geordie Shore’ star Nathan Henry and ‘TOWIE’ alum Lauren Goodger.
Katie Price and her man Kris Boyson were set for couples counselling on the show, and despite already filming their scenes, they had to quit due to other commitments.
They have been replaced by retired footballer Jermaine Pennant and his wife Alice Goodwin.
He said: “We’ve joined the agency because we want to iron out some issues in our marriage. So we’re bringing to the agency our issues of trust.”
Alice added: “Communication. We need to know how to communicate a little bit better I think.”

The 48-year-old star – who plays Jack Branning on the BBC One soap – was presented with flowers on set yesterday (02.07.19) to mark the occasion as the cast and crew came together to congratulate him on the milestone, and the actor “can’t believe” he has appeared in so many episodes.

Scott has played former police officer Jack in two stints, from 2007 to 2013, and 2015 until the present day.
The star’s celebration comes just three months after Letitia Dean (Sharon Mitchell) was surprised on set with a bouquet of flowers after filming her 2,000th episode.

A surprised Letitia said: “No! Thank you.”
She then turned to Steve McFadden – who has played her on-screen husband Phil Mitchell since 1990 – and said: “I couldn’t have done it without you, Steve.”
He replied: “She’s right. You’re right.”
EastEnders’ senior exec producer Kate Oates presented Letitia with the bouquet and praised her “amazing achievement”.

OHMYGOSSIP — Kieron Richardson has signed up for play ‘Band of Gold’.
The ‘Hollyoaks’ star will play abusive husband Steve Dickson in the stage adaptation of the 1990s ITV drama, and while he was nervous about his audition, he is excited to tackle the tough role.
He told Digital Spy: “I’ve never done theatre before. My old acting teacher works with the casting director who was putting the cast together for ‘Band of Gold’ and thought I would be right for the role.
“I went to audition and I haven’t had an audition for nearly 13 years, so I was absolutely bricking it! Especially auditioning in front of someone like [the original show’s writer] Kay Mellor, who for me is a legend as well. I was so nervous. I came away thinking, ‘No way, no chance’, but I was offered the role.
“I had to ask ‘Hollyoaks’ if I could do it and our executive producer Bryan Kirkwood, being the supportive boss that he is, said: ‘Yes, absolutely.’ He’s letting me do it and I can’t wait.”
Despite being set for a four-month stint from November to March treading the boards, Kieron, 33, was keen to point out he won’t be leaving his soap role as Ste Hay.
He added: “There’ll probably be a few weeks where I’m just doing the tour, but then I’ll obviously be straight back to ‘Hollyoaks’.
“I know people will automatically think I’m leaving the show, but it’s absolutely not the case. I am ‘Hollyoaks’ till I die.
“Literally, they will have to kill me to get rid of me! I can’t imagine ever saying, ‘That’s it, I want to hang up Ste’s tracksuits for good.’ I’m really grateful that Bryan is letting me do this alongside ‘Hollyoaks.’ ”
