Jeremy Renner almost starred in Hellboy

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Renner was offered the titular role in ‘Hellboy’.
The 48-year-old actor has revealed he very nearly took on the role of the titular demon in Guillermo del Toro’s 2004 fantasy movie – which is based on the graphic novels by Mike Mignola – but after he was unable to “connect” to the story, the part eventually went to Ron Perlman, who has since become well known for the role.
Speaking about his offer, Jeremy said: “I was just reading the script and [thinking] like, ‘I don’t get this …’ I just couldn’t connect to it. I said, ‘I can’t find a way in [to this character], I don’t know what I’d be doing,’ so I had to say no.”
And although Jeremy admits he turned down a lot of money by not taking the role, he has “zero regrets” about skipping the opportunity, because he’s sure he “wouldn’t have fit” into the franchise.
Speaking to Justin Long on his ‘Life is Short’ podcast, he added: “There’s zero regrets, zero. Most of the time it’s like, ‘Oh, I’m glad I didn’t do it,’ and it made sense to me. Not just ‘Hellboy’ or whatever it was, and I’m not saying that it’s a good or bad movie, it’s not about that … I just wouldn’t have fit there.”
Following the success of 2004’s ‘Hellboy’, Ron Perlman returned to the role in 2008 for sequel ‘Hellboy II: The Golden Army’.
The franchise was rebooted earlier this year with David Harbour in the lead role, which saw a grittier side to the titular character as it was given an R rating.
David said of the movie: “There’s really a sense that you’re actually killing things, even if they are giants or monsters.
“You’re chopping their heads off, you’re bathing in their blood and you’re feeling the complex feelings of actually cutting the heart out of another thing.
“We’re taking the time to deal with the fact that Hellboy is a killer. He’s a weapon.”

Jennie McAlpine ‘worried’ about learning Corrie lines again

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennie McAlpine is “worried” about her ‘Coronation Street’ return – but bosses have promised to “ease her in gently”.
The cobbles favourite returned to shooting scenes on the cobbles this week after going on maternity leave to give birth to her second child, eight-month-old Hilda, but she is nervous about her comeback and concerned she won’t be able to learn all her lines.
She said: “It feels a bit like going back to school after the summer holiday, I’ve got butterflies.
“I’m worried I don’t have enough space left in my brain to learn all my lines.
“But the producers have promised I’ll be eased in gently.”
Hilda will be heading to the same nursery as Jennie and husband Chris Farr’s first child, Albert, four, went to because there is no creche on the ‘Corrie’ set – but Jennie admits it is probably for the best because she wouldn’t get much work done if there was one.
She said: “It’s probably a good thing Corrie doesn’t have a crèche. I’d always be disappearing from set to see her.
“We have a great support network around us too, who can help. We’re very lucky.”
Jennie – who plays Fiz Stape on the ITV soap – would’ve “loved” to have taken a few years off to spend with her little ones, but she enjoys working on the cobbles so much she was keen to return to Weatherfield.
She added to OK! magazine: “I love my job so I wanted to get back to it.
“I knew the longer I left it, the harder it would be to go back.”
Jennie returned to the ‘Corrie’ set on Monday (01.07.19), alongside Isabella Flanagan, who plays Fiz’s daughter Hope Stape, and she enjoyed a “lovely day” of filming.
Sharing a picture of herself and her on-screen family, including Alan Halsall (Tyrone Dobbs) and Maureen Lipman (Evelyn Plummer), she wrote on Instagram: “Posh tea in the bistro for our homecoming. What a lovely day”

Mark Wright to co-host This Morning again

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Wright is to return to ‘This Morning’ to co-host alongside Rochelle Humes.
The 32-year-old star has fond memories of hosting ITV’s daytime show for the first time last year alongside Mollie King, and he’s looking forward to reprising the role on Friday (05.07.19) with her The Saturdays bandmate Rochelle Humes.
He said: “When I presented the show the first time, out of anything I’ve ever done that was probably in my head and in my heart one of my biggest achievements.
“Just because it is a show I’ve watched all my life, it’s so iconic in my household and I just remember, I think other people have said this too, when the music came on at the top [of the show] I was like ‘What? That’s me on that couch!’
“And when I watched it back, when I saw a clip after, I was thinking, ‘That’s me! On what I watch everyday with Phil and Holly.’ It was quite a surreal moment and so I am buzzing to be doing it again.”
And the former ‘Extra’ presenter admitted there are a lot of nerves ahead of tomorrow’s appearance, but he thinks “that’s a good trait to have” when it comes to his line of work.
He explained: “Yeah, I’m sure I’ll be nervous before. I’m always quite nervous when I do stuff because I think that’s a good trait to have. A touch of the jitters sharpens the mind, so they say. “And it’s ‘This Morning’, such an iconic show, you know the music, the studio itself.
“I remember when I first came onto TV about nine years ago and I was asked to go onto ‘This Morning’ to talk about ‘TOWIE’ and I thought ‘Oh my God, I’m going onto the couch at ‘This Morning’. And so now to be hosting it, it’s a big ordeal, it’s a big thing.”
Mark Wright is hosting ‘This Morning’ alongside Rochelle Humes tomorrow from 10.30am.

Laura Norton would love Emmerdale flashback ep

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Norton would love ‘Emmerdale’ bosses to give her a flashback episode.
The 36-year-old actress has portrayed Kerry Wyatt on the ITV soap since 2012, and she is keen to delve into more of her character’s past in a special ep.
She said: “I think I’d love to see something come up from the past.
“A past event where even if you don’t get to see the other character, you get to find out what exactly has happened to her that makes her behave so ridiculously. A flashback episode.”
Laura is hoping the flashback episode could show fans what Kerry is all about and perhaps the character could become a “better friend and parent” by looking back at her past.
She said: “If she fixes whatever it is that’s hurt her in the past, that will inevitably help her be a better friend and a better parent and she’d make much better life decisions.”
Laura would also be keen for Kerry to have another baby and try to be a better mum second time around than she was to her daughter Amy Wyatt – now played by Natalie Ann Jamieson – during her younger years.
She added: “Or she could have another baby and see if the second time around she could do it differently. Who knows? Maybe a flashback would be the best.”
Laura loves playing Kerry when things go wrong because she can get her teeth into “gritty” storylines, but admits portraying the character when things are going well for her alter-ego is the “most fun” she’s had on screen.
She said: “When things are running smoothly she’s the most fun character I’ve ever played.
“But when she makes a mess you get to do brilliant, gritty stuff where somebody’s got disaster following them wherever they go.”

Gemma Collins fears for Love Island contestants

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins is “not really into ‘Love Island'” because she worries about the Islanders’ emotional state.
The 38-year-old star is no stranger to reality TV but admits she is “one of the lucky ones” because she can “cope” with being in the public eye, but she fears for the current batch of contestants in the villa, and admits she is only tuning into the ITV2 dating show because she is a big fan of Tommy Fury, whose brother is boxer Tyson Fury.
Speaking at the Heart Dance launch event, she said: “I’m only watching ‘Love Island’ because of Tommy Fury.
“I’m a big fan of his brother the boxer but literally, yeah, to be honest, I’m not really into ‘Love Island’ just because I think you know I do watch the show, I love it, like everyone else, but you know, some of the games they play on there that are set up for them to do, I just feel that it could be a little bit tough on them to be honest.
“I worry about them because you know I’ve been in the reality realm myself and I have been one of the lucky ones that can cope with it.
“But, yeah, some of the things I see that they have to do on there, I’m little bit like, ‘These are people’s emotions guys.’ ”
Gemma showed off her recent weight loss at the event, and insisted she will not accept people treating her differently no matter how she looks because “no one should be judged”.
She said: “No one will ever treat me differently [due to weight loss] at the end of the day accept me as I am or turn the other way. I’m not interested. You know we’re all different shapes and sizes.
“Defining someone through their shape and size, it’s not just for plus size girls it’s for slimmer girls as well.
“No one should be judged. We’re living in a world now where it’s totally free. Just be who you wanna be. Radiate positivity, energy. Think good thoughts and everything comes to you.”
As well as radiating positive energy, Gemma believes if everyone was on the same spiritual “higher vibration” as her they could “achieve and be who they want to be”.
She added: “I’m an Aquarian but I’m very, very into a higher vibration. I’m into the universe and I have a different thought process to most people but if everyone thought like me they can achieve and be who they wanna be. But not everyone’s open to it but yeah I just radiate on a higher vibration spiritually yeah.”

AJ Pritchard hits out at ‘portrayal’ of brother Curtis Pritchard on Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — AJ Pritchard has hit out at the way his brother Curtis Pritchard is being “portrayed” on ‘Love Island’, insisting he hasn’t “cheated” on Amy Hart.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ pro has shot to the defence of his sibling after Curtis explained to “half-girlfriend” Amy that he was recently interested in newcomer Jourdan Riane, who he kissed as part of a task, and AJ has also blasted some of the girls for “blocking” Amy from speaking to Curtis.
He said: “It’s been portrayed that he’s kind of cheated on her, whereas realistically, yes he kissed another girl, but that was in a task. He slept outside with Tommy in a bed. Him and Tommy’s relationship has gone from strength to strength.
“I feel like she [Amy] does have to trust in Curtis, I know that it is hard.
“It’s hard seeing him upset, and seeing the whole bigger picture from the outside.
“Curtis wears his heart on his sleeve, he can’t lie.
“It’s important, with Amy and Curtis now, the other girls are blocking Amy, they don’t want him to come in and speak to her.”
Curtis opened up to Amy on last night’s (03.07.19) show after she and the girls returned from Casa Amor, telling her she tried to pursue Jourdan but she wasn’t interested, and he ended up recoupling with Amy.
And in emotional scenes, the pro dancer also told the air hostess there were some issues with their relationship, and AJ is hoping the pair can patch up their differences.
He said: “I think he should stay with Amy. Curtis does what he feels and he wants to get back with her.”
Asked if he approves of Amy, AJ said: “100 per cent yeah, she’s a gorgeous girl and her personality.”

Jon Favreau got confused with MCU overlap during filming

OHMYGOSSIP — Jon Favreau “didn’t always know what was going on” with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The filmmaker – who directed the first two ‘Iron Man’ movies and then acted as an executive producer on the ‘Avengers’ blockbusters – admitted he sometimes found it hard to keep track because of the overlap when it came to working on each project.
He told Variety: “With the Marvel things, they have so many films happening at the same time and all of them interweave with one another. “Oftentimes you’re not exactly sure what’s happening, even me. I’m an executive producer on ‘Endgame,’ I didn’t always know what was going on.”
Favreau, 52, reprises the on-screen role of bodyguard Happy Hogan in ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’, and his relationship with Peter Parker (Tom Holland) has changed after Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr.) death in ‘Endgame’.
He added: “In the beginning, I was kind of annoyed by him and I was a babysitter assigned to look after him in the background of what was happening in ‘Civil War,’ but now after ‘Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame’ all the characters have been through a lot emotionally.
“I like what this relationship has evolved to, and, of course, working with an actor like Tom Holland with scenes that are both funny and emotional is great because I don’t get to act like this that often.”
Meanwhile, the star – who has also directed the new live action ‘Lion King’ reboot – recently admitted to being thrilled by the emergence of streaming services, saying it has helped to change the landscape of the movie business.
He said: “Now you can make specific material and content for specific groups as long as you’re doing a good job, and they’re loyal to it, and they like what you’re doing, there’s room in this new ecosystem, and so it’s going to be very interesting to see what now just Lucasfilm does, but Marvel does, and Disney … but the opportunity to do things that don’t have to compete on a blockbuster weekend in the summer and the holidays.”

Joe Sugg cast in Shaun the Sheep sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Sugg has been cast in ‘A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon’.
The YouTube star – who previously lent his voice to the UK versions of ‘Wonder Park’ and ‘The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie: Sponge Out of Water’ – will have a cameo role as Pizza Boy in the upcoming Aardman Animations film.
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ finalist Joe said: “I have always been a huge fan of everything that Aardman have ever made. So much so, that I went to animation club as a kid.
“I jumped at the chance at playing a role in their new movie and am so excited to be part of it!”
It has also been confirmed that Kylie Minogue will join forces with The Vaccines for a new track called ‘Lazy’ for the movie’s soundtrack.
Frontman Justin Hayward-Young added: “We love Kylie and we love Aardman, both [are] national treasures.
“Collaborating together on ‘Lazy’ was an honor and a dream come true. Maybe an unlikely pairing on the face of it – but one that makes total sense in a world as wonderful and mischievous as Shaun’s.”
The upcoming sequel – which is a follow-up to 2015’s ‘Shaun the Sheep Movie’ – will see Shaun meeting Lu-La, an alien who crash lands near his field on Mossy Bottom Farm.
The extraterrestrial has to find her way home to prevent an invasion called the “farmageddon”.

Shaun will be voiced by Justin Fletcher, while John Sparkes will play sheep dog Bitzer.

Tamzin Outhwaite ‘overwhelmed’ by mum dreams

OHMYGOSSIP — Tamzin Outhwaite has been left feeling “overwhelmed” after dreaming about her late mum “so much”.
The ‘EastEnders’ actress’ mother Anna sadly passed away suddenly in April 2018, and the former ‘New Tricks’ star admits she would do anything for just “one more hug” and a “long, hilarious, wise, comforting conversation” with her.
She wrote on Instagram: “Dreaming and thinking about my mum so much at the moment. It’s overwhelming. I would love just one more hug and a long, hilarious, wise, comforting conversation with her, which ends in her singing “Hey ,you, get offa my cloud”
And falling into throaty, husky, fits of laughter when her voice cracks. (sic)”
The 48-year-old star said goodbye to her mother with a musical memorial service in June 2018, and expressed her “love and thanks” to those who attended and sang at the event, including Ride’s Andy Bell, stage star Anna-Jane Casey, Nicola Bright-Thomas and Ruby Turner.
She posted on Twitter: “Massive love & thanks to everyone who attended my mum’s memorial yesterday @TheHanburyArms Performing…
“The glue @andybell #jonnyamobi
The beautiful @AnnaJaneCasey & @NicolaBT & the outstanding @rubyturnersoul for surprising us & singing mum’s fave song. So much love there. (sic)”
Tamzin announced in May 2018 that her mum had sadly died.
Sharing a throwback picture alongside her two brothers, she wrote: “These two beauties @jakeycakeyy @keswicko and I lost our beautiful mum 3 weeks ago today, suddenly …THE best mum ever. (sic)”
Just weeks later, she had to go through her first Mother’s Day without her mum.
She wrote: “It’s been far tougher than I could ever have imagined. My 1st motherless Mother’s Day. I spent the day with my 2 girls, doing what my mum would have done on Mother’s Day…. spoiling her children. Eating where they wanted, (Wagamama’s), doing what they wanted, buying them clothes and generally spoiling them.
“Then watching Marnie with @colinouthwaite in her show at The Shaw Theatre was a massively proud highlight! I struggled with holding back tears in front of them knowing when they see me cry… they cry. Exactly as I was with my mum. (sic)”

Yewande Biala slams ‘lying’ Curtis Pritchard after leaving Amy Hart heartbroken

OHMYGOSSIP — Former Islander Yewande Biala has accused Curtis Pritchard of being the biggest game player on ‘Love Island’ and lying to Amy Hart for weeks.
The former Miss UK was left devastated when she found out the 23-year-old professional dancer kissed Jourdan Riane and told her he fancies her, and now the dumped scientist has accused Curtis of stringing Amy along the whole time.
Appearing on ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Thursday (04.07.19), Yewande said: “I think some people are really genuine and some people have a game plan.”
When the show’s co-host Susanna Reid asked who she thinks is simply on the show for their own gain, Yewande responded: “From watching it yesterday Curtis really shocked me.
“I’m still confused how you can go from 100 to zero real quick.
“He basically said to Amy he’s been lying from the start which kind of makes you question everything really.
“Did you have a game plan from the start? How have you kept lying to her for four weeks? That’s a long time to lie to someone.”
Amy felt really “disrespected” by Curtis’ actions.
Speaking in the Beach Hut on last night’s (03.07.19) episode, she said: “I thought I’d met my first love and the one and it turns out I haven’t.
“I’m someone’s back up plan yet again and he disrespected me in such a way. I wouldn’t have ever looked at anyone else. He was my future and now I have nothing and he’s taken that away from me.”
The 26-year-old was hurt after Curtis opened up about his discussion with Jourdan, 24, while she was away in Casa Amor.
He said: “I did say ‘I like you, I think you are very attractive and good looking’ [to Jourdan] I spoke about you and said everything is perfect with you, everything’s great, I can see a future with you.
“I don’t understand why I’m feeling this for anyone else, I was contemplating asking you to be my girlfriend.
“Then I said I’m not over thinking anything anymore, I’m not going with my head and I feel something and I’m so confused and I don’t understand what it is.”
The blonde hunk told Amy how Jourdan said no to a recoupling offer, but denied the suggestion she was a backup choice.
He said: “I realised that I had been lying to myself, I’d been lying to everybody and worst of all I’d been lying to you…
“Our relationship has stuff we need to work on, it really does and I’ve lied and said it hasn’t.
“A girl has walked in that has some of the things I’d like us to work on and this is where I felt my connection with her… I would like to work on our relationship and work on the things and make them better.”
‘Love Island’ continues tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media Two and ITV2.

Call the Midwife writer Heidi Thomas ready to axe actors with Hollywood in sights

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Call the Midwife’ writer Heidi Thomas is ready to axe stars who intend to use the show as a stepping stone to make it in the US.
Th 56-year-old screenwriter has become cautious about signing up “young” stars who have Hollywood in their sights and admitted she has become “quite ruthless” about putting stateside hopefuls to “one side”.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper’s HOT TV column, she confessed: “Writers don’t have control over whether people stay or not.
“And when young ladies come on the show and then three years later they decide it’s time to go to Hollywood every time, it’s like a stab through the heart.
“I now know the signs and when I see those signs I think: ‘Oh Hollywood beckons’ and I start to think how I will move them to one side.
“I become quite ruthless about it.”
The BBC One series has helped launched the careers of Jessica Raine – who played nurse Jenny Lee from 2012 until 2014 – who featured in ‘The Woman in Black’ alongside Daniel Radcliffe in the same year she started on ‘Call the Midwife’.
And Emerald Fennell, who portrayed nurse Patsy Mount until 2017, and had a role as Elsa in 2015’s ‘The Danish Girl’ alongside the likes of Eddie Redmayne, Alicia Vikander, Ben Whishaw and Amber Heard.

Carol Vorderman hasn’t weighed herself in 20 years

OHMYGOSSIP — Carol Vorderman hasn’t weighed herself for two decades.
The 58-year-old star has revealed she only takes notice of her “dress size”, and hasn’t bothered to check how much she weighs since before the turn of the century.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’ as part of the ‘Body Confidential’ series on Thursday (04.07.19), she said: “I haven’t weighed myself since 1999.
“I don’t actually know how much I weigh and I don’t care because I go on my dress size, thank god for lycra! I’m probably about a size 8 to 9 at the moment.
“I’ve always had a small waist, I think I’m about 25 inches around my waist. If I put on a bit of weight, I know I have, and I go up to a size 11. A larger size 10, that’s kind of my boundary for where I’m happy.”
When it comes to staying in shape, the former ‘Countdown’ presenter revealed she loves to go hiking, and walks 12 to 20 miles twice a week.
She added: “In terms of squats, or the equivalent of squats, I probably do over 20,000 a year… that’s a lot”
Carol also opened up on how her body has changed over the years, especially during the meopause.
She explained: “As you go through the menopause things change. I had what’s called a mirena coil. I put on a stone in two weeks.
“It gives off hormones as well, so I had it removed and it took me a year to lose the weight. I went through this terrible hormonal depression, and I don’t use that word lightly, it really was awful.”
Watch ‘Lorraine’ weekdays on ITV from 8.30am to 9.25am.

Himesh Patel stunned by shocking Yesterday cameo

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Yesterday’ star Himesh Patel was stunned by the movie’s “poignant” surprise cameo.
The actor plays singer songwriter Jack Malik in a world where The Beatles never existed, which leads to an incredibly emotional moment when he meets a 78-year-old John Lennon, who lived a peaceful life out of the spotlight.
Opening up on the touching scene, he told Digital Spy: “It kind of took my breath away, to be honest. It felt so poignant, of course, and yeah, really beautiful.
“This whole film is kind of a ‘what if?’ story, and it felt like the tip of that, you know? “Maybe there’s a universe in which that’s where John is. And then he still turns out to be this wonderful, thoughtful, philosophical man.”
The actor playing Lennon in the shock cameo appearance requested – along with Universal – to keep his identity under wraps “out of respect” for the late musician’s memory.
The studio said in a statement: “The filmmakers and the actor made an agreement that they would keep the actor’s identity a secret out of respect for the life and memory of John Lennon. We respect their wishes and therefore will not be releasing his name.”
Meanwhile, director Danny Boyle – who also won’t be naming the performer behind the role – recently revealed they didn’t hold auditions for the special part.
He explained: “We just talked about this actor and I sent it to him. I knew him, and I knew he was a lifelong Lennon fan. For him, it was a special journey.
“He didn’t want to be credited in the cast, in the list, and he didn’t want it to be talked about or become a thing or anything like that.
“He just wanted to do it to honour someone that was very important in his imaginative life. He never met him or anything like that, but he played a huge part in his imaginative life.”
Although the iconic musician survived in the film’s story, he died on December 8, 1980 when he was shot by fan Mark Chapman as he returned to his Manhattan apartment hours after signing an autograph for him.

Julianne Moore explains how her choices have changes

OHMYGOSSIP — Julianne Moore has learned to be more selective with her film roles.
The ‘After the Wedding’ actress and producer – whose husband Bart Freundlich makes his directorial debut on the adaptation of 2006 drama of the same name – admitted while she used to feel a “responsibility” to hunt down the best parts to play, now she is in a position to develop her own projects.
She said: “At the beginning of your career, as a young actor, you don’t care what you do, because you just want to have a job. You do whatever’s available.
“You just keep taking one step after another to grow your career… I’ve always felt that it’s my responsibility to find [great roles], to seek them out, to find the directors I want to work with.
“Right now, for the first time, I’m starting to develop material for myself.”
Meanwhile, Moore revealed she and her man are searching for new material for future projects, and she admitted the process is never ending.
She told Variety: “We’re looking everywhere for material. Bart writes original material. I read a lot of literature. I’ve optioned a couple of things, and we’re developing a couple of things. I think it’s whatever piques your interest.
“You don’t know how something is going to strike you, and why it strikes you. You just have to continually look. And then you find it.”
However, she was keen to point out she still doesn’t feel like she’s in total control of her creative choices, because there is always a need to find the next job.
