Grantchester returning for 5th series

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Grantchester’ is returning for a fifth series.
The ITV drama will see Robson Green and Tom Brittney reprising their respective roles as DI Geordie Keating and his new crime-fighting partner, parish priest Will Davenport, after Tom replaced James Norton as a lead character during series four.
Emma Kingsman-Lloyd, Kudos’ executive producer, said: “We are very excited that ‘Grantchester’ is returning for a fifth series.
“The audience has taken the pairing of Robson Green and Tom Brittney to their hearts and we are delighted to be able to continue the story of Geordie and Will with Masterpiece and ITV.”
The fifth series will begin in Cambridge in 1957, the year Prime minister Harold Macmillan told the British public they had “never had it so good”.
And while there are certainly positive signs in Grantchester, trouble is never too far away for Geordie.
The latest scenes will start shooting in Cambridgeshire this summer, and further casting news will be announced at a later date.
‘McMafia’ star James – who played charming clergyman Sidney Chambers – previously admitted he felt the time was right to depart the ITV drama to pursue other opportunities.
He said: “I fancy an adventure – I’d love to spend a bit more time in New York or LA, I’m open to opportunities.”
But before his departure during series four, he managed to get some of his family members small cameos in the show.
He said: “Yes, in fact this is a bit embarrassing: we’ve got a scene where there’s a big outdoor fete and not only is my dad coming, but my mum and my two aunts as well!
“They’ve been begging me the whole time, ‘Please can we?’ So my Aunt Bridget and Aunt Alison are going to be people visiting the fete.”

Marvin Brooks leaves Love Island villa

OHMYGOSSIP — Marvin Brooks has been dumped from the ‘Love Island’ villa.
The semi-professional footballer was booted out of the show in a dramatic recoupling during Thursday night’s (11.07.19) show.
Speaking about his time in the villa following his exit, he said: “It was definitely a lot longer than I expected! In terms of finding someone romantically, I found it difficult but in terms of friendship, I had a brilliant time! It was unbelievable.”
In the recoupling, new girl Francesca Allen caused a stir when she chose Curtis Pritchard to couple up with – despite Maura Higgins expressing an interest in the dancer – whilst Anna Vakili chose Jordan Hames, who she has grown back close to after returning from Casa Amor. Single Amber Gill chose her good friend Ovie Soko in the hope he will have a chance to find love with someone else in the villa whilst Maura gave new boy Chris Taylor a chance, although she seemingly hinted there was nothing romantic going to happen between them.
Strong couples Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury, Michael Griffiths and Joanna Chimonides and Belle Hassan and Anton Danyluk all chose to recouple up with their respective partners.
Marvin is rooting for Molly-Mae and Tommy – who are currently the only official couple in the villa – to win the show.
He said: “I think Tommy and Molly-Mae are the obvious choice. They are acting like a couple who’ve been together for years. They’re so comfortable with each other. It’s really nice to see. I’m starting to see Michael and Joanna getting really close and they’re starting to show those signs. Those couples are the strongest for me.”
And when it comes to the new love triangle between Maura, Curtis and Francesca, Marvin thinks the Essex beauty will come out on top.
He shared: “I feel Francesca is more Curtis’ type and I think their romance will blossom. But it won’t happen easily because Maura will definitely have her say in the matter.”

Dara O Briain leads tributes to Father Ted’s Brendan Grace

OHMYGOSSIP — Dara O Briain and the President of Ireland have led tributes to Brendan Grace after he died aged 68.
The ‘Father Ted’ star – who played Father Fintan Stack in the Channel 4 sitcom – passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning (11.07.19) surrounded by his family, just 10 days after he was diagnosed with lung cancer.
Several stars have paid tribute to the late actor, including Dara, who praised him as a “genuine comedy legend”.
He wrote on Twitter: “So sad to hear the news of the death of Brendan Grace. A genuine comedy legend in Ireland, when we were growing up he was the king of the entertainers. Sorry I never met him, but relieved I never had to follow him. RIP Brendan.”
Irish president Michael D. Higgins recalled Brendan’s “spontaneous wit and his sense of timing”, and admitted he felt “privileged” to have known the actor.
He said in a statement: “I have learned with great sadness of the death of Brendan Grace, singer and comedian.
“As a comedian Brendan’s spontaneous wit and his sense of timing, his obvious delighting in interaction with his audiences, meant that Brendan’s sense of humour was drawing from, and itself a profound contribution to, the deep wellspring of Irish wit.
“His best-loved characters will endure, precisely because they are both recognisable and representative of the experiences lived and recalled by Irish people of all ages.
“It was a privilege to know him, and a pleasure to meet Brendan as recently as the 5th of June last, when he accompanied The Forget Me Nots choir to a Garden Party at Áras an Uachtaráin.
“As President of Ireland, I express my deepest condolences to his wife Eileen, his children Bradley, Melanie, Brendan and Amanda, and to his wider family and his friends, and all who valued his acuity and sharp sense of humour.”
‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’ creator and lead star Brendan O’Carroll thanked Grace for “opening doors” for many others.
He tweeted: “So sad at the passing of a great comedy legend, husband and father #brendangrace He opened doors for so many of us and leaves a legacy of love and laughter that will echo through this land and we will all mourn his passing. Rest peacefully Bottler you’ve earned it. (sic)”
Earlier this month, it was revealed Brendan had cancelled his summer tour after receiving a lung cancer diagnosis while he was getting treatment in hospital for pneumonia.
A spokesperson said: “Brendan Grace has been in hospital for the last four weeks receiving treatment for pneumonia.
“It has now transpired that he is also suffering from cancer for which he is receiving ongoing care and treatment.
“His family are a great support to him at this difficult time and respect for their privacy would be much appreciated.”
As well as acting, Brendan was also a singer and he topped the Irish charts with his hit ‘Combine Harvester’ one year before The Wurzels made the song even more famous when they had a UK number one with their version in 1976.

EastEnders team up with Muslim Youth Helpline for Bobby Beale plot

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘EastEnders’ have teamed up with the Muslim Youth Helpline to work on a new storyline which will see Bobby Beale explore the Islamic faith.
In last night’s (11.07.19) episode, viewers saw Bobby – played by ‘EastEnders’ newcomer Clay Milner Russell – meet up with his pal Imran, who he met at a young offender’s institute, and he was given a copy of the Qur’an to read as he looks to try to find peace after killing his sister Lucy Beale (Hetti Bywater).
Zohra Khaku, director of the Muslim Youth Helpline, praised the soap for portraying Islam as a “positive influence” on Bobby’s life.
She said: “The Muslim Youth Helpline have been providing feedback on Bobby’s storyline with the BBC ‘EastEnders’ team.
“In a time where young British Muslims see their faith overwhelmingly represented in a negative way, it is heartening to see Islam portrayed as a positive influence in Bobby’s life.”
‘EastEnders’ executive producer Jon Sen is hoping the powerful plot will show the “positive impact” religion can have in modern society, as Bobby searches for “meaning, structure and purpose” in his life.
He said: “We are thrilled to be working with the Muslim Youth Helpline on a storyline which serves to challenge preconceptions and prejudices about the role of faith in young peoples’ lives.
“Bobby Beale’s story will show how a young boy uses religion to help find peace and give his life meaning, structure and purpose.
“We hope this storyline will demonstrate the positive impact of religion in modern society.”
Clay made his debut as Bobby last month as the character was released from a youth detention centre, where he was sent for killing Lucy.

Tamzin Outhwaite leaving EastEnders

OHMYGOSSIP — Tamzin Outhwaite is to leave ‘EastEnders’.
The 48-year-old actress – who reprised her role as Mel Owen in 2017 – will leave Walford in the autumn to “pursue other challenges”, and admitted she only planned for her latest stint to be 12 months.
She said: “When John [Yorke] asked me to return to ‘EastEnders’ back in 2017, I jumped at the chance to play Mel once more but it was only supposed to be for a year.
“That year quickly passed and I agreed to stay on for another, but now the time feels right to once again pursue other challenges.
“I will of course miss so many people here at ‘EastEnders’, and I will forever have good memories of my time at the show, but I am also excited to experience new roles outside of Walford.”
The soap’s executive producer Jon Sen praised Tamzin for some “wonderful performances”, and wished her well for the future.
He said: “We are extremely grateful to Tamzin for reviving the character of Mel Owen back in 2017, allowing ‘EastEnders’ fans the chance to see one of Walford’s most popular characters take centre stage once more.
“Tamzin is an incredible talent who has set our screens on fire with her wonderful performances in some of our most iconic storylines.
“We wish her the best of luck for the future.”
Tamzin initially played Mel from 1998 to 2002, and she returned to the soap in 2018, 16 years after she bowed out of Walford.
Mel has been involved in some big storylines, such as being one of Ian Beale’s (Adam Woodyatt) many wives. Ian tried to pursue her on her return to Walford, but didn’t have any luck.

Emmerdale dedicate double bill to Sandy Thomas

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Emmerdale’ dedicated last night’s (11.07.19) double bill to their late star Freddie Jones.
The ITV soap paid tribute to the late actor, who died on Tuesday (09.07.19) aged 91 following a short illness, after playing Sandy Thomas from 2005 to 2018.
ITV announced both episodes would be dedicated to Freddie, and at the end of the second ep his picture appeared on screen alongside a message.
It read: “In loving memory of Freddie Jones, 1927-2019”
A message on the show’s Twitter account also paid tribute to Freddie earlier this week, admitting he was one of the soap’s “favourite human beings”.
It read: “Everyone at Emmerdale is deeply sad to hear about the death of one of the show’s most brilliant actors and favourite human beings, Freddie Jones. #Emmerdale (sic)”
Several of the soap’s cast have paid tribute to Freddie, including John Middleton, who played his on-screen son Ashley Thomas.
He tweeted: “I first saw Freddie on stage when I was 14. He was brilliant and that’s when I decided that I wanted to do that too, although I would never be as good. The profession he inspired me to join is suddenly poorer.”
Charlotte Bellamy – who played Sandy’s daughter-in-law Laurel Thomas – tweeted: “We shall all miss you #FreddieJones #emmerdale (sic)”
Mark Charnock (Marlon Dingle) wrote: “Very hard to put into words what the remarkable Freddie Jones meant to us all. Was lucky enough to share a dressing room for over a decade.
“The laughs, wisdom, anecdotes, the blazing, wonderful personality, the enormous talent. Above all things, he was our lovely #Freddie (sic)”

Millie Bobby Brown denies The Eternals role

OHMYGOSSIP — Millie Bobby Brown has denied rumours she’s set to star in ‘The Eternals’.
The 15-year-old actress – who is best known for her starring role as Eleven in hit Netflix series ‘Stranger Things’ – was reported this week to have landed a role in the upcoming mysterious Marvel Cinematic Universe project, but she has now denied the news, saying she has “no idea” where the rumour started.
Taking to her Instagram account, Millie said: “OK, guys, this is the problem. Everybody thinks that I’m going to be in a Marvel movie. Not that I know of. My family and I have no idea. So, I just want to let everybody know that I’m not … as of right now.”
So far, much of ‘The Eternals’ is still under wraps, with no official casting announcements having been made, although rumours are also circulating the likes of Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, and Keanu Reeves.
It is believed Richard Madden will play Ikaris, who is fuelled by cosmic energy in the movie, with one plot line of the film involving a love story between his character and Sersi, who relishes moving amongst humans.
Angelina Jolie has been rumoured to be taking on the role of Sersi.
Marvel Studios are set to make an official casting announcement for the upcoming movie – which is being helmed by Chloe Zhao – during San Diego Comic-Con, which kicks off on July 18.
‘The Eternals’ is based on the 1976 Marvel comic series by Jack Kirby, which sees the titular fictional species – who are offshoots of the evolutionary process, and were intended to be the Earth’s defenders – do battle with the Deviants.
‘Ruin’ writers Matthew and Ryan Firpo have signed up to pen the script for the movie, and Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Feige will produce the picture.

Christoph Waltz returning to James Bond

OHMYGOSSIP — Christoph Waltz is returning to James Bond.
The 62-year-old actor starred as the villain Blofeld in 2015’s ‘Spectre’ and he’s now been spotted on set at Pinewood Studios, where the upcoming 25th installment of the franchise is currently being filmed.
He reportedly told one set visitor in hushed tones: “You haven’t seen me. I’m not here.”
In ‘Spectre’, Blofeld tried to establish a global surveillance network that would allow his villainous group to monitor and evade criminal investigations at the highest level.
In the previous film, the villain – who was revealed to be Bond’s foster brother – was left disfigured after an explosion and in the finale, his helicopter was shot down, but it was confirmed Blofeld was still alive as he was seen crawling from the wreckage.
A movie executive told the Daily Mail newspaper columnist Baz Bamigboye: “There’s unfinished business between Bond and Blofeld. If I told you any more, I’d have to kill you.”
It may come as a surprise to fans that Christoph is returning to the franchise opposite Daniel Craig as 007 as he’s previously ruled himself out of a comeback and admitted there were elements of ‘Spectre’ which he was unhappy with.
He said: “It was an incredible experience to be part of this postwar cultural phenomenon. Yet I can’t say that I was happy at every step of the process. I feel that there are some loose ends with my engagement.
“And I’m not saying that I’m going to be in the next one. I’m not going to be in the next one.
“But let’s say, in terms of my feeling that I have sufficiently served a purpose, there are a few white blotches on that map for me, personally.
“I don’t want to be critical of something that doesn’t deserve to be criticised, so that’s why I’m being a little cryptic.
“There are just certain things I am unhappy with. I wish I would have gotten the opportunity to iron those glitches out.”

Curtis Pritchard sent Maura Higgins ‘stunning’ message in 2018

OHMYGOSSIP — Curtis Pritchard sent Maura Higgins a message saying she was “stunning” last year.
The ‘Love Island’ star recently admitted he slid into his fellow Islander’s messages before the pair entered the villa, and it’s now been revealed he praised her appearance in a private Instagram DM.
The 23-year-old ballroom dancer sent the message back in November, but the 28-year-old model didn’t respond to his attempted advances.
A source close to him told The Sun newspaper: “Curtis was taken with Maura’s beauty so couldn’t resist sending her a cheeky message.
“He was embarrassed that she ignored him as he doesn’t often slide into girls’ DMs.
“He assumed she wasn’t interested. He loved ogling her sexy shots.”
However, the tables have now turned and Maura is the one pursuing Curtis in the villa, but she was denied the chance to couple up with him in last night’s (11.07.19) episode when newcomer Francesca Allen chose him before Maura got the chance.
Maura turned her attentions to Curtis recently after he dumped “half-girlfriend” Amy Hart following a four-week romance in the villa.
Curtis had a change of heart while the girls were away at second villa Casa Amor, and ditched Amy upon her return.
The air stewardess later quit the show after a tearful few days without the dancer.
With Francesca picking Curtis on last night’s recoupling, Maura decided to give new boy Chris Taylor a chance when faced with a decision of choosing him or her former flame Marvin Brooks, who she brought back from Casa Amor, resulting in Marvin being axed from the island.
Following his exit, he said: “It was definitely a lot longer than I expected! In terms of finding someone romantically, I found it difficult but in terms of friendship, I had a brilliant time! It was unbelievable.”

Megan Barton-Hanson lost weight on Love Island ‘through stress’

OHMYGOSSIP — Megan Barton-Hanson lost “a lot of weight” due to “stress” when she was in the ‘Love Island’ villa.
The 25-year-old star appeared on the fourth series of the ITV2 show last year, and admits she shed some pounds during her time on the programme because she was “very on edge”.
She said: “In the villa, I lost a lot of weight through stress.
“Because it’s like an unknown situation, you don’t know what’s happening so I was very on edge and I lost a lot of weight.
“Since I’ve come out, I’ve put on weight because I’m happy and I’m enjoying myself.”
Megan turned down the chance to appear in 2017’s third series because she didn’t feel “confident” enough to take part, but she later decided to join the show last year.
She said: “‘Love Island’ approached me. I actually turned it down the year before, because I was like, ‘No, I’m not ready, I’m not confident.’
“But to grow as a person you really need to push yourself out of your comfort zone and do it.
“But at no point I thought, ‘Oh, aren’t I gorgeous? I’m going to strut in here and feel fabulous.’ I was so nervous.”
Megan has been tuning into this year’s series, and is a big fan of Maura Higgins.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’, she added: “I love Maura, I love what she stands for. I love the fact she’s so open about her sexuality.
“She’s really everything I stand for. I just hope her intentions are real with Curtis, because I love him.
“He’s a proper gentleman.
“I think Molly and Tommy will definitely win it.
“Anton and Belle have grown on me. They’ve only known each other a short time but their connection is so genuine.”

Daniel Radcliffe reads relative’s suicide note on Who Do You Think You Are?

OHMYGOSSIP — Daniel Radcliffe broke down on ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ while reading his great grandfather’s suicide note.
Samuel Gershon took his own life aged 42 following a 1936 robbery at his Hatton Garden jewellery business, but things got worse when police thought the Jewish businessman had faked the raid to claim on the insurance.
Speaking on the show, the 29-year-old star says: “Everything he had worked for and that his father had worked for, has sort of been destroyed.
“You want to just reach into the past and just go, ‘Whatever you’re going through, you have so much to offer the people who are around you still … you have so much to give to them.
“And, they still would all have loved you.’ ”
Daniel was left shocked by a police report that said: “Jews are so frequently responsible for the bringing down of their own business premises,” and the ‘Harry Potter’ actor admitted it was “jarring” hearing such comments.
According to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column, he says: “There’s a lot to dig into in that one sentence. It’s very jarring to see being a Jew to be taken as a piece of evidence in itself.”
What’s more, Daniel is also expected to look into the story of his great-great-uncle Ernie, who fought at World War I, on the BBC genealogy show.
A source previously said: “When Daniel starred in TV drama ‘My Boy Jack’ – one of his first major roles after Potter – his inspiration was his great-great-uncle Ernie, who lost his life in World War I.
“As Daniel investigates exactly what happened to Ernie during the war, he discovers an extraordinary and moving cache of letters Ernie wrote home.
“He pieces together the heart-breaking story of how Ernie fought alongside his three brothers and how all of them, except for Ernie, survived.”

Francis Rossi lined up for I’m A Celebrity?

OHMYGOSSIP — Francis Rossi is being lined up for this year’s ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
Show bosses are said to be keen on the 70-year-old Status Quo frontman appearing in the Australian jungle, and hope he can make a similar impact to last year’s winner, 72-year-old former football manager Harry Redknapp.
A show source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Francis would be the perfect successor to Harry. They are both Londoners with the gift of the gab and a wealth of brilliant anecdotes to tell.
“Francis has worked alongside all the greats and would win over a new generation of fans by appearing in the jungle.”
Francis previously admitted he would’ve loved to have seen his late bandmate Rick Parfitt – who died in 2016 aged 68 – appear on the show, and believes he could’ve been crowned King of the Jungle.
Speaking in 2004, he said: “Rick would have been the perfect campmate. Funny, lovable, much more famous than most of them and completely game for any trials. He’d have probably won it.”
Rick was due to appear in the programme 15 years ago but show bosses pulled the plug on his appearance because he was taking prescribed sleeping pills Rohypnol at the time.
This show will return later this year for its 19th season, and celebrity executive Micky Van Praagh recently revealed this year’s series is already taking shape.
She said: “It’s very early days, but we’ve already started casting.
“I think we know what works. I think of our show as a comedy and so I’m looking for people who are funny and high energy as we know those types of things always work.
“But otherwise you want to do something completely different every year. You’re never looking for the next Harry Redknapp or the next John Barrowman or the next Fleur East. You’ve got to do something different.”

Woody Harrelson joins the cast Kate

OHMYGOSSIP — Woody Harrelson has joined the cast of ‘Kate’.
The 57-year-old actor will star in alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead in the thriller flick, which will see a female assassin go on a manhunt on the streets of Tokyo after she is poisoned and given just 24 hours to live.
Variety first reported the news of Harrelson’s casting, which comes almost three months after they also broke the news of Winstead’s role as the assassin herself.
Cedric Nicolas-Troyan will direct the motion picture, and Umair Aleem will pen the script.
Production on ‘Kate’ is expected to begin this year, and the film will be produced by Bryan Unkeless, Kelly McCormick, and Patrick Newall, while David Leitch and Scott Morgan will serve as executive producers.
The movie will be shown through Netflix after the streaming giants secured the rights when they won an aggressive bidding war back in 2017.
Netflix have also hired stunt coordinator and second unit director Jonathan Eusebio, special effects make-up designer Damian Martin, visual effects producer Taylor Rockwell, production designer Dominic Watkins, and Lyle Vincent as cinematographer.
Meanwhile, Harrelson recently revealed that playing himself in his 2017 directorial debut ‘Lost in London’ – which recounted autobiographical events in 2002 – was “one of the least likeable characters” he’s ever played.
He said: “This is probably one of the least likeable characters I’ve ever played and I’m playing me. So I wish I had made some reason to like him a little more.”
“I gotta say it was something so wonderfully liberating about everything working out. You get a shot at redemption. It’s a pretty glorious thing because what it taught me, and what the theme of the movie is, is that you’ve gotta feel pretty lucky for what you have you know? I was made aware of how lucky I was and hopefully I haven’t taken it lightly since then.”

Dexter Fletcher to direct Sherlock Holmes 3

OHMYGOSSIP — Dexter Fletcher is set to direct ‘Sherlock Holmes 3’.
The 53-year-old filmmaker and actor recently received critical acclaim for his work at the helm of Sir Elton John biopic ‘Rocketman’, and also took over filmmaking duties on Queen movie ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ following the firing of Bryan Singer.
And on the back of his recent success, he’s now been hired as the director for the third instalment of the ‘Sherlock Holmes’ movie franchise, which stars Robert Downey Jr. as the titular detective.
Fletcher is taking over the series from Guy Ritchie, who helmed the previous two films, 2009’s ‘Sherlock Holmes’ and 2011’s ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’.
According to Variety magazine, Warner Bros. had always planned on making a third film, but found it difficult to get off the ground as Downey Jr.’s hectic schedule as Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe made it hard to find time to begin production.
Now his time as Iron Man has drawn to a close, he’s back on board as the super sleuth, and will be once again joined by Jude Law as his trusty sidekick and close friend Professor Watson.
Chris Brancato is penning the script, while Downey Jr.’s wife Susan Downey, Joel Silver, Dan Lin and Lionel Wigram are producing.
The movie was originally supposed to open on Christmas Day next year (25.12.20), but it was pushed back almost a full year last March, and will now be released on December 21 2021.
For Fletcher, the directing job comes as he also previously helmed ‘Eddie the Eagle’, and the 2013 film adaptation of Scottish stage musical ‘Sunshine on Leith’. He also earned a BAFTA nomination in 2011 for his directorial debut ‘Wild Bill’.

Anna Passey films Free Rein cameo

OHMYGOSSIP — Anna Passey has filmed a cameo role in ‘Free Rein’.
The ‘Hollyoaks’ actress recently shot some scenes for the Netflix drama – which tells the story of a US teen who comes over to England for the summer and develops a friendship with a horse – and she was “really thrilled” to have been asked onto the programme.
She said: “I was really thrilled to be asked to go over and do ‘Free Rein’, which is also produced by Lime Pictures.
“I’d watched the first two series and I’m such a pony girl at heart that I loved it.
“If I was a teenager I would have been obsessed with that show, so to be asked to be a part of it was really lovely.”
Anna plays horse rider Felicity who is a judge in the try-outs for the Under 18s Riding Team, and the soap star – who portrays Sienna Blake on the Channel 4 show – loved rolling back the years by going horse riding again.
She said: “I play a lady called Felicity, who is the ex-champion of the island where the show is set, so all the kids in the show know that she’s this really fabulous horse rider.
“She goes to help them to train and she is a judge at the final competition, where one of them gets selected for the under 18s team.
“It was really fun and I got to do some horse riding, which I’ve done since I was little, so I was absolutely in my element.”
As well as horse riding, Anna has also been doing a lot of surfing recently during her holiday in Portugal.
She said: “I was learning before I went on holiday and I got to an OK stage, but having a week to go every morning for three or four hours in glorious sunshine has helped me improve loads.
“I’d never tried paddle boarding before but I tried that for the first time and was surprisingly quite good.”

Jemma Donovan hasn’t watched Jason Donovan’s Neighbours eps

OHMYGOSSIP — Jemma Donovan hasn’t ever seen any of her dad’s ‘Neighbours’ episodes.
The 19-year-old actress will follow in her father Jason Donovan’s footsteps on Monday (15.07.19) when she makes her debut on the Channel 5 soap, but the Harlow Robinson actress admits she hasn’t seen her dad play Scott Robinson in a full episode before.
Asked if she’s watched any of her dad’s old episodes, she said: “I actually haven’t. I know that won’t win me daughter of the year.
“But I’ve seen brief clips and it’s so funny seeing him at my age in the same place.”
Denise van Outen will play Harlow’s mum Prue in the soap, and Jemma cannot wait to shoot some scenes with the former ‘EastEnders’ star.
She added to Inside Soap magazine: “I haven’t started doing any scenes with her yet, but it’s so exciting.
“I really like her – she’s so lovely and has such great energy.
“I hope that’s reflected on screen.”
Jemma recently revealed Jason – who played Scott from 1986 to 1989, 11 years before Jemma was born – burst into tears when she landed a part on the Australian soap.
She said: “He started crying when he found out. He was so happy for me.
“He’s a great supporter and I love having him by my side, which is great.”
Asked whether she was always going to go into acting or entertaining, she said: “I think so. I always loved it when I was younger. I kind of stopped a little bit to do my school work.
“And I didn’t know whether I wanted to pursue it, but then I thought, ‘This is what I want to do.’ ”
‘Neighbours’ airs Mondays to Fridays on Channel 5 at 1:45pm and 5:30pm.
