The Invisible Man reboot starts filming

OHMYGOSSIP — Leigh Whannell’s ‘The Invisible Man’ reboot has started filming.
The 42-year-old director announced on Twitter that production has officially kicked off in Sydney, Australia, for the remake of Universal’s 1933 movie, which is based on the novel of the same name by H. G. Wells.
Sharing a photo on a clapper board from the set, he tweeted: “Any recommendations for things to do in Sydney? No? Okay, I think I’ll just go shoot a movie then. STARTING TODAY. (sic)”
Elisabeth Moss will star in the film and is believed to be playing Flora Cranley, the love interest of the character Dr. Jack Griffin who becomes invisible after a conducting a series of scientific tests while Aldis Hodge, Storm Reid and Harriet Dyer are also part of the cast in unknown roles.
The movie is part of Universal’s ‘Dark Universe’ collection of films which was started by 2017’s ‘The Mummy’.
The shared cinematic universe is inspired by the Universal Monsters movies which began in the 1920s with Lon Chaney’s ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame’ and ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ and for the next three decades with films such as ‘Dracula’, ‘Frankenstein’, ‘The Mummy’, ‘The Wolf Man’ and ‘Creature from the Black Lagoon’, all which were box office hits and made household names of the likes of Bela Lugosi, Lon Chaney Jr. and Boris Karloff.
The ‘Dark Universe’ was due to continue with a ‘Bride of Frankenstein’ remake with Angelina Jolie in the title role but that project was put on hold after Alex Kurtzman – who helmed and co-wrote the Tom Cruise led reboot of ‘The Mummy’ – and co-producer Chris Morgan stepped away from the multiverse.

Idris Elba cut ‘black James Bond’ line from Hobbs and Shaw

OHMYGOSSIP — Dwayne Johnson has claimed Idris Elba refused to say a line in ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ in which his character referred to himself as “the black James Bond”.
The 47-year-old wrestler-and-actor has spilled that 46-year-old Idris rejected a line in which his villainous alter ego, former MI6 agent Brixton Lore, compared himself to 007 because he felt it was “too close” to the never-ending rumours about him taking over the part of the iconic big screen spy from Daniel Craig.
Dwayne claims he was responsible for coming up with the alternative line in which Idris describes himself as the “black Superman”.
Speaking to Variety, the ‘Rampage’ star said: “Everyone loves ‘the black Superman’ line. Everyone’s taking credit for it – Idris, our director, our producers, I’m sure, Jason [Statham] … I came up with that. I’m on set because they originally said, ‘Oh I’m the black James Bond,’ and he goes, ‘No I don’t wanna, it’s too close to what everybody’s talking about.’ I said, ‘What about the black Superman?’ And everyone’s like, ‘Great!’ [But] now everyone takes credit.”
Although Dwayne is convinced he came up with the line, Idris remembers things differently, and is adamant it was in fact him who “improvised” the memorable moment.
The ‘Luther’ star said: “That line was just improvised, I was in one of these takes and I was really riffing, and then it came out and [director David Leitch] loved it, and so we kept it.”
It seems producer Hiram Garcia can back up Idris’ story as he claims it was him and not The Rock who improvised the Superman saying.
Hiram concurred: “[Idris] just shouted it out. He was talking trash, shouted it out, and we said, ‘This is incredible!’ [The line] was his … so he ran with it. He loved it, and that line really stuck, and we’re so happy the fans responded to it.”

Daniel Radcliffe: It would be ridiculous for me to play James Bond

OHMYGOSSIP — Daniel Radcliffe has said it would be “ridiculous” for him to play James Bond.
The 29-year-old actor – famous for portraying boy wizard Harry Potter – voices 007-inspired character Rex Dasher in new animated family adventure ‘Playmobil: The Movie’ but although he can convince as that character Radcliffe has ruled himself out of the running to replace Daniel Craig in the spy franchise because he doesn’t believe he has the gravitas to slip into the tuxedo.
In an interview on BBC Radio 2 on ‘The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show’, he said: “Rex Dasher is a Playmobil version of James Bond. There’s a ridiculous thing that will sound suitably ridiculous to your listeners, because they know that it would be ridiculous for me to play James Bond in real life.
“But because I have an English accent I go to America, a lot of people think and say something to the effect of, ‘You should be James Bond.’ And I say, ‘No, you’re wrong.’ So the chance to play Playmobil James Bond was like, ‘That seems a little more my speed.'”
‘Playmobil: The Movie’ is based on the popular line of toys and Radcliffe admits it was great fun to portray Rex and be a “very silly character”.
He said: “He’s a very, very silly, fun character. He’s totally over-confident and oblivious. The film as a whole is about a young girl and her brother dealing with a traumatic and exciting incident at the beginning of the film, that’s then healed by this crazy adventure they go on as they’re sucked into a Playmobil fantasy universe.”
Although the movie includes several musical numbers, Radcliffe does not sing in his role.
The English star – who will be appearing opposite Alan Cumming in a production of Samuel Beckett’s ‘Endgame’ at the Old Vic in January 2020 – said: “It’s also a musical, but don’t worry I don’t sing, so people won’t have to experience that. It’s left to others. It’s very, very fun. I’m now at the point in my life when I have a few god-kids and a few friends with young kids and I haven’t been able recommend they go see a film I’ve done for literally years.”

Love Island’s Anton Danyluk left villa after ‘feeling unwell’

OHMYGOSSIP — Anton Danyluk left the ‘Love Island’ villa after feeling unwell.
The 24-year-old gym owner will not feature on tonight’s (17.07.19) episode after he spent a night away from the villa because he was poorly, but ITV have confirmed he has since returned to the show.
They said: “After feeling unwell during the day, Anton spent the night away from the villa and is subsequently missing from tonight’s episode.
“He has since returned to the villa.”
Anton is currently coupled up with Belle Hassan, who he made up with following a blazing row after he gave his number to a shop assistant last week, and he then smooched fellow Islander Anna Vakili in a challenge.
While Anton left the villa and then returned, his fellow former Islander Amy Hart quit the show for good earlier this month.
Amy decided to leave the villa early after being dumped by Curtis Pritchard, and the air stewardess later revealed she was in a “in a very horrible place” the week before she departed.
She said: “I chose my mental health over the reality show. I was in a very horrible place over the last week, to be told that the gloves were off with Maura [Higgins] and I had to ‘brace myself’, like a storm. I knew I had to leave when I did. I’m kidding myself thinking that I can watch Curtis cracking on with Maura. It would be self-sabotage. It’s not nice. I have to put myself and my sanity first.
“I’ve given up a place that 130,000 people applied for but I had to leave as I wasn’t myself any more. I was in absolute despair. I was grieving the loss of my first love, living in a house with him and watching one of my alleged friends get with him. I feel a million times better now I’ve left, but I defy anyone not to fall apart and be completely heartbroken.
“I was very confused. I couldn’t eat, I lost six pounds. I felt so numb. I didn’t feel hungry. When I wouldn’t eat, they would stand over me and make me eat a bowl of food or I couldn’t do the challenges.”

Danny Williams inundated with ‘travel agent’ remarks

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Williams has been inundated with people calling him “the travel agent” since he left ‘Love Island’.
The 21-year-old star is dating fellow former Islander Jourdan Riane, 24, having previously dumped Yewande Biala and Arabella Chi in the villa – leading to their exits from the show – but he laughed off the idea he is a “bad omen” after he and his beau also got sent home.
Speaking to ‘Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp’, he said: “Is it my fault? Yeah I’ve seen a lot of things on Twitter and Instagram circulating calling me the travel agent and I thought it was absolutely hilarious.
“Fingers crossed, now we’re out the villa, there’s no more bad omens and we can just crack on and be positive.”
The nickname was given to Danny by the ITV2 dating show’s narrator Iain Stirling after Danny’s head kept getting turned in the villa, leaving the previous love interest facing a flight home after they were dumped from the island.
While narrating one show scene, Iain quipped: “Back in the villa, Jourdan’s chatting to Danny, or as I like to call him, the travel agent because when people hang around him, they always wind up heading to the airport.”
Danny and Jourdan – who have confirmed their relationship is now official – dismissed the idea they are part of a ‘showmance’.
She argued: “As much as there’s been loads of positivity and love and stuff, there’s also been quite a lot of negativity and I don’t think either of us would put ourselves through any more negativity and hate just for the sake of a picture on Instagram.
“It’s just not worth it. But I don’t really care if people don’t believe it because we know what it is.”
Danny admitted he could see why some people might doubt the strength of their feelings for each other because of the “short amount of time” contestants spend in the villa, but he described their romance as genuine.
He added: “To a certain extent but then, you know, you’re in the villa for such a short amount of time, you only know these people for a short amount of time, so feelings aren’t that strong and now I’m at a stage with Jourdan where feelings are genuinely strong.”
Tune into ‘Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp’, week days from 6am-10am.

OHMYGOSSIP — Cheryl and Dame Twiggy have joined ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’.
The 36-year-old pop sensation and the 69-year-old fashion icon have both been confirmed as guest judges for the BBC Three show, and Cheryl has heaped praise on the “inspiring” programme.
She said: “I am a huge fan of ‘Drag Race’. I have always admired the work and dedication that goes into drag and have learned over the years that it is an art form.
“It is not only fun and glamorous but equally as skillful and admirable, I find it incredibly inspiring. I just love the makeup, creativity and the drama. I am honoured to be a guest judge!”
British icon Twiggy – whose real name is Lesley Lawson – loves the “creativity” of the programme and feels she’ll have “brilliant fun” on the show.

Amber Gill’s mum hopes she doesn’t go back to Michael Griffiths

OHMYGOSSIP — Amber Gill’s mother hopes she doesn’t get back together with Michael Griffiths.
The ‘Love Island’ star’s mum Vanessa suggested her daughter “will realise” the 27-year-old firefighter – who is single again after being coupled up Joanna Chimonides, before her exit this week – no longer has feelings for her, and she is disappointed with how he’s been “playing a little bit of a game” in the villa.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘This Morning’, she said: “I think Amber will realise that now. I don’t think she’ll go back with him, I hope she doesn’t.
“Because of the whole way I think he’s played it. He hasn’t been upfront with her. He’s been a little bit holding himself back, I don’t know whether he’s playing a little bit of a game.
“But I think he should’ve been honest with her when she opened up her feelings to him when they went to that night out.”
While Michael claims to still have feelings for Joanna, Amber’s best friend Martin suggested if this was true he should have left the villa when she did on Monday.
He added: “If he [Michael] really had those feelings for Joanna, he would’ve just walked the other night. And I just thought ‘Why are you staying?’ ”
Martin also joined viewers in backing Amber and Ovie Soko to win the show as friends.
He explained: “I think they both could be the first-ever friendship winners on ‘Love Island’. He’s lovely.
“When her and Michael started off, they started off as friends. It grew and it progressed and it was natural and that’s why I think the public connected with them.
“I think she’s got such a brotherly connection with him [Ovie].”

Jonathan Ross thanks stranger who found his missing pug

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonathan Ross had a scare earlier today (17.07.19) when his pet pooch went missing, sparking a huge Twitter appeal.
The 58-year-old TV presenter urged fans to help him find his four-legged friend after he escaped from the garden of his Dorset home, and fortunately a helpful stranger found the pug and took him to the “safe haven” of Lynwood Veterinary Group in Swanage, southern England.
The chat show host initially shared a picture of the dog’s twin brother with the caption: “Hi. If anyone is in or around Swanage today and they see a black pug he may be mine!! He must have escaped from the garden. This is his brother (sic)”
After a nervous wait, the dog was found.
Comedian Jonathan then returned to Twitter, writing: “Pug is home!!
“Thank you to whomever found him and took him to the safe haven of Lynwood Vets. Phew. (sic)”
Several social media users were quick to share their joy at Jonathan’s pooch being back home.
They wrote: “Oh thank the Lord. I was upset for you & the dog of course! Pals back together now …..I feel happier too (sic)”
Another tweeted replied: “Fantastic news. Lynwood Vets are brill x (sic).”
However, Jonathan isn’t the only star to have had his pet go missing recently.
‘Hollyoaks’ actor Gregory Finnegan revealed earlier this year he “feared the worst” after his cat Jacko went missing.
The soap star – who plays James Nightingale in the Channel 4 soap – took to Instagram to reveal his beloved four-legged friend had left his house and hadn’t been seen since.
He wrote: “This old timer wandered out of the house at the weekend and hasn’t been seen since. Fearing the worst (sic)”
And there was a sad ending as Gregory had to put his cat down.
He later confirmed the feline had “found his way home in a bad way and after a consultation with a vet had to be put to sleep”.

Michael Griffiths still likes Amber Gill

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Griffiths has confessed he still likes Amber Gill.
The firefighter split from the 21-year-old star after meeting Joanna Chimondes in Casa Amor and he has now admitted to his fellow islanders that he still has feelings for his ex-girlfriend.
He told them: “Now that Joanna has gone, it has given me time to think about things. I’m not saying I don’t like Joanna, because I do. But I feel like because Joanna was there I actively avoided Amber.”
Jordan said: “I think if you did go back there, things would be so different.”
Michael apologised to Amber after he demanded she “sit down” before a chat and said he was “taking out his frustration” on her.
Michael says: “When I came over and told you to sit down, it was because you had been wearing heels all night and I didn’t want you to walk anywhere else. I am apologising if it came across in a bad way.”
Amber replies: “I just think you really need to think about the way you speak to me, because it comes across really badly. I knew you before and you never spoke to me in a way that made me feel upset.”
Michael responds: “I don’t actually want to hurt you and I never have. Right now, it seems that I take all of my frustration out on you.”
Michael’s frustration came after Joanna was booted off ‘Love Island’.
She said: “Part of me expected Michael to leave with me, however I don’t want to be in control of someone’s life journey and if he wants to continue in the villa, to get to know someone else or see where things go, I’ve got respect for that. It is a bit disappointing but I’d never hold that against him. I am a bit in limbo about how I’m feeling about Michael. We got along well and had lots in common and laughed together but for me I need to put it on pause and then we can see what happens when he leaves the villa.”

Oti Mabuse won’t judge Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Oti Mabuse won’t replace Dame Darcey Bussell as a judge on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ – as it may “upset” the other dancers.
The 28-year-old star is currently a professional dancer on the BBC Latin and ballroom dance competition, but was believed to be in the running to replace Darcey – who has stepped down from the show after judging for seven series – after wowing producers with her judging talents on fellow BBC dancing show ‘The Greatest Dancer’.
But sources have now claimed Oti won’t be getting the role, as they believe the other professionals “wouldn’t react well” to having the “dynamic changed”.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “The move would have caused uproar among the cast – it would be one thing giving Anton the role, but Oti is still fledgling in her career.
“The thought was that the other dances wouldn’t react well to Oti being a judge. She is popular, but if the dynamic changed and she went from being one of them into another role on the show it’s likely that this would cause friction and upset.”
Instead, it’s likely that Darcey’s replacement will be a new face to the ‘Strictly’ ballroom, and although there’s no information on the new judge just yet, it’s believed they will be female.
The source added: “But bosses are keen on handing the role to a woman to keep the panel fair.”
Meanwhile, Oti herself recently said whoever fills Darcey’s shoes needs to be “angelic” like her.
She said: “Darcey was so amazing. What she bought was this kind of angelic side of things. Whoever gets it has to show they know what they’re talking about.”

Javier Bardem in talks for The Little Mermaid

OHMYGOSSIP — Javier Bardem is reportedly in talks for ‘The Little Mermaid’.
The 50-year-old actor is believed to be lined up for the role of King Triton in Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of the popular animation which was first released in 1989.
If Javier does land the role, he’ll be playing the father of the titular mermaid, known as Ariel, who will be played by 19-year-old actress and singer Halle Bailey.
‘The Little Mermaid’ tells the story of a young mermaid named Ariel – who will be played by Halle Bailey in the remake – who is fascinated with life on land and on one of her visits to the surface, meets and falls in love with Prince Eric.
Determined to be with her love, Ariel makes a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula to exchange her beautiful voice for human legs, but she must seal the deal with a kiss within three days, or she will lose her voice forever.
In the original movie, King Triton disapproves of his daughter’s interest in life above water, but is forced to come to Ariel’s aid when her deal with Ursula doesn’t go according to plan.
Javier’s rumoured casting – which was first reported by Deadline – comes just days after it was speculated that One Direction star Harry Styles is in talks to play the handsome Prince Eric, following his acting success in 2017’s ‘Dunkirk’.
Most recently, Harry was one of the contenders for the role of Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming biopic on the King of Rock n’ Roll, and Deadline claims the hunk was waiting to see if he landed the job before committing to ‘The Little Mermaid’.
Austin Butler came out on top for the Elvis Presley role, and so it is now believed Harry will commit to Prince Eric instead.
Awkwafina and Jacob Tremblay are also said to be in talks for roles in the Rob Marshall-helmed reboot, with Awkwafina set to portray Scuttle the seagull, while 12-year-old Jacob will lend his voice to the role of faithful fish friend Flounder.

Lana Del Rey ‘up for Priscilla Presley role in biopic’

OHMYGOSSIP — Lana Del Rey is said to be keen to play Priscilla Presley in the upcoming Elvis Presley biopic.
The 34-year-old singer is said to have pointed out the likeness between her and Priscilla – who was married to singing legend Elvis from 1967 to 1973 – and thinks she was “born to play” the part.
A source told Radar Online: “Lana feels it’s a role she was born to play.”
Lana’s apparent interest in the movie comes after Austin Butler was cast to play Elvis in the Baz Luhrmann project, beating Harry Styles, Ansel Elgort, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Miles Teller to the role.
The ‘Zoey 101’ star shared an article about the casting along with the caption: “You have made my life complete, and I love you so” (sic)”
Speaking about his decision to choose Butler to portray Presley, Luhrmann said: “I knew I couldn’t make this film if the casting wasn’t absolutely right, and we searched thoroughly for an actor with the ability to evoke the singular natural movement and vocal qualities of this peerless star, but also the inner vulnerability of the artist.
“Through a journey of extensive screen testing and music and performance workshops, I knew unequivocally that I had found someone who could embody the spirit of one of the world’s most iconic musical figures.”
Luhrmann will direct the movie and has penned the script along with Craig Pearce, and the filmmaker previously said he was keen to hire a relatively unknown actor to play the late ‘Hound Dog’ hitmake, who died in 1977 aged 42 at his Graceland estate.
The director is keen to begin production on the project later this year.

Ant McPartlin’s cheeky new I’m A Celeb promo

OHMYGOSSIP — Ant McPartlin will mark his return to ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ with a cheeky new promo.
The 43-year-old TV presenter was replaced by Holly Willoughby last year when he took a break from the show to deal with his alcohol issues after a drink-driving conviction but he has now reunited with partner Declan Donnelly and the pair have filmed a funny new promotional clip, called ‘Two Men And A Boat’, to mark his return.
The short clip sees the pair set sail for Australia – where the show is filmed – but they get lost due to bad weather. The promo follows their journey before they eventually make their way to Australia, for Ant to resume presenting duties alongside Dec, 43.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “The boys are in a boat which has got lost on the way to Oz, it ends up going through all sorts of different continents and they get bombarded by bad weather, snow, rain, blistering sunshine and everything in between – before finally make their way to Australia in time to host the show.
“It’s a big and very expensive set-up with masses of special effects, but they wanted it to be right — especially for Ant’s return.”
The insider went on to praise Holly for being a “fantastic” stand-in but added that the plan was always for Ant to return.
Meanwhile, the show’s creative director Richard Cowles previously insisted the ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here’ team are “looking forward” to welcoming Ant back on the show.
He said: “We love what Holly did, but we’re very much looking forward to Ant coming back and I think it’s going to be an amazing series. I think the job is for us to create a series and cast where everyone wants to come back and watch more, so I’m not worried.”
And Dec previously admitted he didn’t want another man to replace Ant on the show so Holly was the perfect replacement.
He shared: “As always I’m incredibly excited to be heading to Oz for ‘I’m A Celebrity’. It is obviously tinged with sadness that Ant won’t be coming this year, I’m going to really miss him, but it’s only for one series and he’ll be back stronger next year. I didn’t want to host this series with another guy so Holly was top of my list.”

Madeleine West pleased to be paid to put on Neighbours’ masterclass’

OHMYGOSSIP — Madeleine West feels like she is being paid to put on a “masterclass” when she portrays two characters on ‘Neighbours’.
The 38-year-olld actress stars as both Dee Bliss and Andrea Somers on the Channel 5 soap, which requires her to act out the same scenes but with a completely different character.
She said: “I’m basically doing twice the work of everyone else. Sadly not double the pay, but I’m not complaining because it was like doing a masterclass and being paid to do it! It was an absolute joy.
“They use a camera called the 4K which splits the screen and so you can’t overlap yourself. I have to play both characters, filming the same scene twice, looking in both directions and also with a body double.
“Then I have to change costume, change physicality and change voice and then play the other character, playing out the same scene all over again.”
Madeleine – who appeared in ‘Neighbours’ from 2000 to 2003, and re-joined in 2017 – spent hours researching how to stand and speak like the two different characters, and admitted she deliberately didn’t look back at old footage of Dee because she wanted to “rediscover” the character how she is now.
She added to What’s On TV magazine: “It took a lot of research to play both Andrea and Dee. Each has a different voice, different ways of standing and different intonations.
“Dee isn’t a carbon copy of that blushing bride she was 16 years ago when she supposedly died, she has lived as someone else all this time as Karen, and so she is a different person.
“I didn’t look back at old clips of Dee from when I played her before. I wanted to rediscover Dee as she is now, in the environment she has been in, then add on the fact that she is now much older, she is in her 30s now.
“I don’t want to mimic what she was like in her early 20s.”

Julia Bradbury has ‘healthy attitude’ to nudity

OHMYGOSSIP — Julia Bradbury has a “healthy attitude” towards nudity.
The ‘Countryfile’ presenter, mother of Zephyrus, seven, and four-year-old twin girls Xanthe and Zena, admits her kids see her “waking around naked all the time”, and she believes it is important to teach her children about body image.
Speaking about baring all in a naked photo for charity last year, she told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I think you need a healthy attitude towards nudity. My kids were proud of the image – they saw it. It doesn’t mean anything to them as they see me walking around naked all the time.
“They are far too young now to be talking about body image, but it does key into that in these early stages, and the, ‘What are the differences between boys and girls and men and women?’ It’s not something that bothers me.”
Julia describes herself as a “passionate” recycling campaigner.
She said: “I stand by that picture. The point is people were talking about it. I was lying on 750 bottles – that is the number that are dumped in England every single minute. Only a tiny percentage will be recycled.”
Julia, 48, also revealed she doesn’t buy her children plastic toys and she recently threw an environmentally-friendly party for her son Zephyrus.
She added: “Goody bags were made of recycled Indian newspapers, full of sustainable toys, recyclable plates and cups – no balloons, pizza in cardboard boxes and glass water bottles.”
The TV presenter stars alongside Sir Trevor McDonald in new ITV series ‘Britain’s National Treasures’, which counts down a public vote of the 20 most iconic structures and sites in Britain. Julia admits Sir Trevor didn’t respond well to a joke she made about his status as a national treasure, saying: “I did try to make some jokes about him being a national treasure, but he didn’t like it.”
