Jake Wood issues warning to ginger bullies

OHMYGOSSIP — Jake Wood has been contacted by people who feel “suicidal” over being “bullied” because of their flame-coloured hair.
The ‘EastEnders’ actor has questioned why it is “socially acceptable” for people to poke fun at others “for ginger characteristics”, and admitted some kids are also facing abuse over the colour of their hair.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’, he said: “Why is it socially acceptable to mock people for ginger characteristics?
“There is always a fine line between banter – I don’t mind fellow red heads taking the mickey out of us but there is a fine line.
“60 per cent of people with red hair have experienced abuse and yeah, you can suck it up – but people have been getting in touch saying that they have been suicidal because of it or their children are being bullied because if it and want to dye their hair.”
Jake appeared on the show after his Twitter rant last week – in which he retweeted the BBC’s The Social skit, which poked fun at a person with ginger hair sitting in the sun.
The 47-year-old actor – who plays Max Branning in the BBC One soap – wrote: “Bulls**t. I’m calling this out. Why is it socially acceptable to take the piss out of someone for the colour of their hair and not for the colour of their skin?!
“All gingers have experienced being teased and bullied. I’m not even joking @GingerParrotUK I’m happy to lead the army. (sic)”
The Ginger Parrot is a community specifically for fellow redheads, and they responded to Jake’s concerns, saying: “It’s about time redheads find their voice about this. Thanks for taking the lead! #gingerpower. (sic)”
His tweet gained plenty of attention but still attracted some trolling.
One response read: “Calm down copper k***.”

James Corden wrote Gavin and Stacey script ‘over FaceTime’

OHMYGOSSIP — James Corden wrote the ‘Gavin and Stacey’ Christmas special script “over Facetime” with Ruth Jones.
The 40-year-old actor – who has kids Max, eight, Carey, four, and 19-month-old Charlotte with his wife Julia Carey – has revealed the writing duo penned the script together during early morning video calls and mutually agreed to not tell the BBC.
He said: “We wrote the new script over Facetime. I would get up at 4am, and work with Ruth until it was time to take Max to school.
“We didn’t tell anyone we were doing it, certainly not the BBC. We thought, ‘We’ll do it for us and we’ll know if it’s right’. We’ve seen too many people ruin what they’ve done – for no reason.”
James – who moved to Los Angeles to present ‘The Late Late Show’, which is famous for its celebrity Carpool Karaoke – has insisted he doesn’t want the one-off comedy Christmas special to be seen as a “career-emergency”.
Speaking to GQ magazine, he added: “We would’ve hated for Gavin & Stacey to be seen as something we’re reviving in a panic, over no longer being relevant … we’re hoping it won’t be seen as this career-emergency, break the glass decision.”
The ‘Cats’ star has also opened up about one day leaving ‘The Late Late Show’, and explained he’s worried he’ll be a question people “struggle to answer” on the US game show ‘Jeopardy!’
He added: “The day might come and I might not be brave enough. I’ve go to try to make peace with this idea, that if I walk away from this show, there’s a chance I become a question on Jeopardy. One people struggle to answer.”
James and Ruth play Smithy and Nessa Jenkins in the sitcom – which they co-created – alongside Mathew Horne and Joanna Page, who star as the titular characters.

Love Island’s Joe Garratt feels ‘awkward’ speaking to Lucie Donlan

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Garratt feels “awkward” speaking to Lucie Donlan since leaving the ‘Love Island’ villa.
The 21-year-old hunk confessed that although he and former partner Lucie, 21, had tried to rekindle their romance since being booted out of the ITV2 dating show, the surfer is “doing her own thing” and he doesn’t feel comfortable chatting to her at showbiz events because of insistent speculation the pair are dating again.
Speaking to The Sun Online, he said: “We kissed at the ITV summer party after getting close again outside of the villa. I really like her, but she’s doing her own thing right now.
“I’m looking for a girlfriend, I really want to find love. But she’s not thinking about that right now.
“It’s awkward because we see each other at events all the time. It’s difficult, I don’t feel like I can talk to her now because everyone is looking at us wondering if we’re getting back together.”
The blonde beauty also confirmed that she and Joe are not romantically involved, while also insisting that she no longer has any interest in boxer Tommy Fury, who was the runner-up of the show alongside Molly-Mae Hague.
She said: “Me and Joe are just friends. We tried to see if anything was there but he’s so lovely, we’re just going to be friends.
“I’m over Tommy. I won’t be pursuing him again, I’m so over that.”
Monday night’s (29.07.19) live final saw Greg O’Shea and Amber Gill crowned the winners of the show, beating favourites Molly-Mae and Tommy – who were the only official couple in the final – Ovie Soko and India Reynolds, and Curtis Pritchard and Maura Higgins.

Greg O’Shea’s pals didn’t know he was entering Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — Greg O’Shea’s friends had no idea he was going into the ‘Love Island’ villa.
Monday night’s episode (29.07.19) of the ITV2 dating show saw the rugby player and Amber Gill crowned the winners of the 2019 series, and Greg’s pals and teammates Shane Daly and Alex McHenry have confessed he hadn’t told all of his friends he was entering the villa.
Speaking on Virgin Media One’s ‘The Six O’Clock Show’, Alex said: “We watch a lot of ‘Love Island’ together in the house and I was with contact with Greg on the Friday evening because I hadn’t heard from him in a while.
“So I gave him a call and I was chatting to him because I was based in Limerick at the time and he was in Dublin and he was like, ‘Oh Alex I have loads of gossip for you, we must catch up soon.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, absolutely.’ “He was like, ‘Shane’s been getting all the gossip off me,’ and we were watching ‘Love Island’ Sunday night and he walks into the villa and I’m watching in the house in Limerick and all of my friends were like, ‘Oh my God, what’s going on?’ ”
Shane went on to explain that he was with Greg when he discovered the news and confessed the pair were “freaking out” after he was asked.
He said: “It was actually a funny situation. We were in-between training sessions and he just got a random DM on Instagram and he just read it and it was from an ITV casting person and it said, ‘Would you be interested in doing an ITV show in the summer?’
“So his phone rings two minutes later and his head is shook and he’s like, ‘It’s ‘Love Island’. We were freaking out the two of us.”

Anna Vakili ‘doesn’t know’ what Maura Higgins ‘sees in’ Curtis Pritchard

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’ star Anna Vakili “doesn’t really know” what Maura Higgins sees in Curtis Pritchard.
The 29-year-old pharmacist has praised the 28-year-old model for not being “fake” in the ITV2 villa, but has questioned why she is with the ballroom dancer.
Speaking on Tuesday’s (30.07.19) episode of ‘Loose Women’, Anna – who had a dramatic exit from the series after her ex Jordan Hames tried to crack on with fellow Islander India Reynolds following advice from the pro dancer – said: “I feel like Maura really likes him because she won’t fake anything but Curtis – I don’t really know what she sees in him.”
Last week, Curtis, 23, advised Jordan to pull India for a chat to reveal his true feelings, just two days after Jordan asked Anna to be his girlfriend on the show.
However, after confiding the shocking revelation to Maura, who Curtis is coupled up with, the Irish model rushed to tell Anna the news, leading to her and Jordan splitting up.
Opening up about the drama, Anna added: “I wouldn’t say I was just as angry at Curtis but I was angry [at him]. It just wasn’t nice.”
And the brunette beauty confessed she has been cruelly targeted by body-shaming trolls on social media since leaving the villa.
She continued: “I was actually prepared for it going in [to the villa] because I knew that that’s an easy thing to say because compared to the other girls, I am a bit bigger than them, so it’s the easy thing to say.”
Coleen Nolan interjected: “Well, it’s a stupid thing to say. It shows how brainless they are.”

Jonathan Ross to be judge on The Masked Singer

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonathan Ross has reportedly signed up as a judge on ITV’s ‘The Masked Singer’.
The TV chat show legend is to join host Joel Dommett on the upcoming talent show, which first started in South Korea with a US version pulling in 12 million viewers earlier this year, and sees 12 stars disguised in costumes head-to-toe as they sing in front of the celebrity panel, which is to be led by the ‘Jonathan Ross Show’ host.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “Landing Jonathan is a real coup for producers.
“They think he’ll be hilarious fronting the panel and help make the series a success.
“He’s the big name they needed to get the show off the ground and encourage viewers to take it seriously.”
It’s the 58-year-old presenter’s first talent show role, whilst it’s Joel’s prime time debut gig on the channel.
The latter reportedly landed the job after a successful stint fronting quiz show ‘Hey Tracey!’ this summer.
An insider claimed: “Joel has impressed head honchos at ITV and they think he is the perfect fit for this zany show.
“They’re hoping he can help make this new series a hit, especially after ‘The X Factor’ and ‘The Voice’ have failed recently to bring the big audiences.”
ITV’s Head of Entertainment Commissioning Siobhan Greene preciously said: “Not very often, a show comes along that seems to abandon all the rules … and this is it. ‘The Masked Singer’ is original, bold, funny and a proper guessing game, that we hope will have the nation hooked. We all loved it from the moment we saw it and are so excited to be bringing it to a UK audience.”
‘The Masked Singer’ is due to air later this year.

Amber Gill wants to inspire women to not take back exes

OHMYGOSSIP — Amber Gill hopes her ‘Love Island’ win has inspired other women not to take back their love rat exes.
The 21-year-old beauty therapist won the ITV2 show with new partner Greg O’Shea, just weeks after ex Michael Griffiths dumped her in favour of islander Joanna Chimonides.
She said: “I definitely want girls to be strong and do what they want to do and don’t go back to people that hurt you. You don’t have to, even if it seems easier, so I’m glad I’ve inspired people – it makes me really happy.”
And Amber has confessed she nearly walked out the villa during the fall out from the split from Michael.
She said: “There definitely was a few points where I really wanted to go. In the real world you don’t have to watch your ex crack on with a new person. It was hard just to watch and you feel quite lonely. I’m glad I stuck it out. It made me stronger and I’ve come out better off.”
And Greg is hopeful he and Amber can carry on with their romance outside the villa.
He said: “I’m a big believer you only date somebody if you can see potential with them, otherwise you’re wasting your time. It’s only been a couple of weeks but it’s been great so far.”
And Amber and Greg are willing to try and make it work, despite her living in Newcastle and him living in Dublin.
Amber shared: “We are prepared to put in the work. You make it work if you want to make it work, and if don’t, you don’t. I’m not particularly worried about it.”
Whilst Greg added to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “I live in Dublin and it’s a really quick fight to England so it’s a lot easier than it looks on paper. At the moment we’re just delighted and we’ll see how it goes.”

Brad Pitt found it ‘easy peasy’ working with Leonardo DiCaprio

OHMYGOSSIP — Brad Pitt admitted he was “really happy” to have Leonardo DiCaprio “help carry the load” in ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’.
The 55-year-old actor stars as stunt double Cliff Booth alongside the 44-year-old star’s alter ego Rick Dalton, a washed-up TV actor, in Quentin Tarantino’s latest flick, which explores life at the end of the 1960s, particularly around its cinema, and he says it was “easy peasy” to work with another Hollywood heavyweight.
Speaking to Sky News at the film’s UK premiere in London’s Leicester Square on Tuesday night (30.07.19), Pitt said: “He’s a good egg.
“Easy peasy, and I was really happy to have him to help carry the load.”
The ‘Troy’ star also revealed that Tarantino makes it fun in between filming and that usually leads to “pretty good” results.
He spilled: “Quentin [Tarantino] just keeps a really fresh vibe going, just a lot of talk about film, a lot of laughs and telling stories in between takes.
“And then we get pretty good takes.”
The movie also stars Margot Robbie as real-life late actress Sharon Tate.
The Hollywood star was eight-and-a-half months pregnant with her and husband Roman Polanski’s (Rafał Zawierucha) son when she was murdered by members of the notorious Manson Family cult, led by Charles Manson, in August 1969. Four other people were also killed in the horrific attacks.
And the 29-year-old Australian star revealed the director was very specific about her playing a “very affectionate” version of the actress.
She said: “There was a pretty distinct version of Sharon that Quentin wanted to portray, very affectionate version, and that was clear in the script, so I did all my usual prep, and then beyond that you let the director tell you what he wants.”
Margot previously admitted she thinks Sharon’s involvement in the film “embodies the best parts of the ’60s” and she considers Tarantino’s story to be a “celebration of her life”.
‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ actress said: “Sharon embodies the best parts of the ’60s. This is a celebration of her life. And you get a lot of hang time with her in this film.”

Kym Marsh will be ‘no shrinking violet’ against ‘romance fraud criminals’

OHMYGOSSIP — Kym Marsh will show she is “no shrinking violet” when she confronts “criminals” in her new show ‘For Love or Money’.
The ‘Coronation Street’ star is bowing out of the ITV soap later this year after portraying Michelle Connor since 2006, and she has warned fans she takes a no-nonsense approach against “romance frauds” in the upcoming BBC investigative documentary.
She said: “So-called romance frauds are on the rise, and I’m delighted to be involved in a new week-long series for BBC Daytime called ‘For Love or Money’.
“I’m presenting it with the lovely BBC reporter Ashley John-Baptiste and we’re setting out to expose the criminals behind romance frauds.
“I felt quite heartbroken for the victims we spoke to. And as for the criminals, well, let’s just say I’m no shrinking violet when it comes to confrontations.
“One of the reasons I wanted to get involved is because I’ve had people pretending to be me in the past, trying to trick others.”
While Kym is to co-host the doc, the cobbles favourite insists that doesn’t mean her acting days are over.
Writing in her OK! magazine column, she added: “It was great being given the chance to co-present a show like this but I won’t be giving up acting when I leave ‘Corrie’ this year.
“In fact, I’m very much pursuing other roles.”
Kym and Ashley’s doc will examine the “sophisticated techniques” used by con artists.
The BBC recently said: “Each episode of the series will see Kym and Ashley look into one case, in the forensic style of a crime investigation.
“Their aim is to expose the sophisticated techniques fraudsters use to pull at an individual’s heartstrings, so they can empty their bank balance.
“They will find out how the criminals manage to appear so convincing, identify the real owners of the photos they’ve used to trick people into trusting them, unpick the other evidence they’ve supplied, and sometimes even make contact with the crooks themselves.”

Max Bowden and Tony Clay’s EastEnders beard rash

OHMYGOSSIP — Max Bowden and Tony Clay were left with “beard rash” after kissing for two hours for an ‘EastEnders’ scene.
The pair – who play Ben Mitchell and Callum ‘Halfway’ Highway, who have been dubbed “Ballum” by fans – recently had to shoot a steamy scene after their characters hooked up, and they felt the effects afterwards.
Max said: “Tony and I were in a park kissing for about two hours – it was a massive bonding experience.
“We both had beard rash by the end of it.”
While some fans were shocked when Ben and Halfway got together, Max believes their romance has worked well because they come from similar backgrounds.
He said: “What was beautiful was the common ground between them – these are two proud, masculine men who’ve come from a similar background.
“Ben can see something in Callum he once saw in himself, and I think their chemistry showed in that scene. It’s worked.”
While Ben and Callum’s romance has cooled lately due to the fact he is actually engaged to Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty), Max has teased there is plenty more to come with the pair.
He added to Inside Soap magazine: “There’s so much to come with Callum.
“Ben is starting to develop feelings, something he’s usually capable of dismissing – but Callum and Whitney are planning a wedding, so it’ll get complicated.
“We’ll have to see what happens there.”
Tony recently admitted he was worried he “might not get on with” co-star Max.
He said: “With Max, there’s always going to be this worry at the start that you might not get on with the other person, but me and him have a great relationship.
“We have a lovely chemistry and, although we make each other laugh a lot, there’s always a level of professionalism there when we have big, intense scenes.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dianne Buswell insists Joe Sugg won’t be “jealous” of her dancing with another guy when she returns to ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ this year.
The pro dancer claims her relationship with her former celebrity partner Joe won’t be affected when she teams up with a new celeb partner on the show’s upcoming 17th season.

“He loves the experience so much, and he is really excited to see, you know, what I can do this year.”
What’s more, Dianne doesn’t think pro dancer Oti Mabuse’s sister Motsi Mabuse being cast as the new ‘Strictly’ judge will jeopardise her credibility by favouring Oti – because she is a “professional”.
The 30-year-old star said: “Motsi is an amazing dancer, so will be a very credible judge. She knows what she’s talking about. She’ll bring some energy to the show.”
Dianne and Joe have also announced their first-ever joint tour around the UK from March to April in 2020.
Speaking about their new show, the dancer said: “It is something Joe and I wanted to do together, obviously he loved the whole ‘Strictly’ experience and most importantly, he loves learning how to dance and we love dancing together.”

Iain Lee ‘full of shame’ before coming out as bisexual

OHMYGOSSIP — Iain Lee was “full of shame” before he came out as bisexual.
The 46-year-old TV and radio personality opened up about his sexuality on his TalkRadio show recently and said he feels relieved that he has finally been able to reveal his true self.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Wednesday (31.07.19), he said: “I came out as bisexual and now I have said it on TV so it must be real.
“I was full of shame. It has lifted a huge weight and nearly everyone has been brilliant and it’s not a big thing, it’s not like I am now going to go around and start queening up and going out with loads of guys and stuff.
“That’s not what it is about, it’s about saying I have done this stuff in the past that I have had a lot of shame about and I don’t need to be ashamed about it.
“I am in a great place. My life has changed.”
Iain decided to reveal his sexuality after going through a particularly tough year following a car crash and the breakdown of his marriage to his wife Helena and he said seeking therapy had helped him to realise his bisexuality.
He explained: “I had a really horrible year, I was involved in a really nasty car crash that messed me up so I was seeing a therapist and as we were talking about that we kind of latched onto some abuse that I had as a young man.
“We worked out why I used to take drugs and it turns out that probably a lot of the anxiety, the depression and the drug taking was around not being true to who I am so I came out. And everyone went ‘oh well, who cares?'”
Iain previously revealed he had been abused by older men when he was a teenager and he praised his therapist for helping him to work through his emotions.
He said: “I’ve started again with this brilliant therapist. I’ve been doing a lot of work with him trying to get through this sodding depression.
“He’s helped me realise that I’m probably bisexual. That’s a big thing to come out.
“I’ve been reminded of a lot of stuff that started when I was 14 or 15 years old when I was involved and engaged in sex acts with significantly older men.
“This went on for quite a while. I’ve had a lot of confusion about it… these things happened and then I started putting myself in positions where they’d happen again. Now I can see that it was abuse – a 14-year-old me and 60-year-old guy, I can see it was abuse. He’s helped me look at that in kind of a new light.”

George Takei would consider Star Trek return

OHMYGOSSIP — George Takei would consider returning to ‘Star Trek’.
The 82-year-old star – who starred in the 1960s television series ‘Star Trek: The Original Series’ as Hikaru Sulu – would be up for a role in Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Star Trek’ film if the script was right.
He told The Blast: “It depends on the script. He’s a great filmmaker. Well, it all depends. He is a very individualistic filmmaker, so he will decide how he envisions it, who he is gonna cast.”
Meanwhile, William Shatner – who played James T. Kirk in the original 1960s television show – would love to be part of a Quentin Tarantino-directed ‘Star Trek’ movie.
He said: “Quentin Tarantino said something in the paper that somebody said to me, that he loved me. [looks into camera] And Quentin, I love you. If you’re going to do Star Trek 50 years later, a few pounds heavier, come on. Not a problem! Well, I’d like to do it. Whether I’d be up for it, I don’t know.”
And Tarantino previously confessed if he commits to directing ‘Star Trek’ then it will be his final film.
He said: “I guess I do have a loophole, [if] the idea was to throw a loophole into it. Which would be [to go], ‘Uh, I guess ‘Star Trek’ doesn’t count. I can do ‘Star Trek’ … but naturally I would end on an original. But the idea of doing 10 isn’t to come up with a loophole. I actually think if I was going to do ‘Star Trek’ I should commit to it. It’s my last movie. There should be nothing left-handed about it. I don’t know if I’m going to do that, but that might happen.”
