OHMYGOSSIP — Andre Ovredal loves the “huge challenge” of adapting ‘The Long Walk’ for the big screen.
The ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’ filmmaker is also at the film of the upcoming take on Stephen King’s unique horror novel, and he admitted the story – which is focused on a deadly cross country walk – has given him plenty to thing about.
He told DailyDead: “What I find so amazing about that one is that it’s a challenge, an incredible challenge for a director because I have nothing to hide behind.
“It’s actors, a camera, and the dialogue of the script. It’s just a walk and talk, and I’ve got to create suspense and intensity and the performances have to be great.
“So, to me, it’s a really huge challenge and I can’t wait to do it because it’s breaking new ground for me as well.”
‘The Long Walk’ was originally published back in 1979 under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, and it was the first novel King wrote.
The novel follows a group of 100 teenage boys forced to march across the country by a militaristic dictator.
If anyone falls below a certain speed – or even just falters at all – they could be shot by soldiers riding alongside them.
Previously talking about his approach to the adaptation, Ovredal described it as “very claustrophobic”.
He explained: “It’ll be very claustrophobic, because we never leave that road.
“I think the studio and producers really liked my work on ‘The Autopsy of Jane Doe’, and compared it to this, because it’s very intimate.
“You’re walking right there with these kids; the fact that it has an expansive nature around it, as opposed to just walls, is a variation, but it’s going to be an extremely claustrophobic movie.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ruth Langsford left the ‘This Morning’ studio in tears over her sister’s death.
The 59-year-old TV presenter had to leave after a caller’s story during a mental health segment on Monday (12.08.19) reminded her of her late sibling Julia’s own struggle with depression.
Her husband and co-host Eamonn Holmes explained: “Ruth is upset and had to leave the studio … because of her sister’s chronic depression.
“No matter what sort of help or medication, it didn’t seem to make much difference in the good times and bad times.”
Ruth left while the ITV programme’s resident psychologist tried to help a viewer with her ongoing battle with anxiety and depression.
After the segment finished, Eamonn added: “These things are very raw for [Ruth] following the death of her sister.”
She later returned after the commercial break.
Last month, Ruth returned to the show after stepping away from ‘This Morning’ for a leave of absence after her sister’s death in June.
The star had thanked her friends, family and fans for all the sympathetic messages she received following Julia’s passing, and insisted she felt “grateful” for the support.
Passing on a message from Ruth, Eamonn previously said: “Ruth wants me to say to the production team, everybody who works here in this studio, she said, ‘Everyone of them has been in touch,’ and she’s so grateful for everything that everybody has said.
“So, thank you. She can’t reply to everything. She reads them all, and it’s much, much appreciated.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Rebecca Ryan has said goodbye to ‘Casualty’ and heaped praise on the cast and crew in an emotional message.
The 28-year-old actress made her final appearance as Gemma Dean during the double episode series finale over the weekend after two years on the medical show, and she described her tenure as “the most amazing time”.
Taking to Twitter, she wrote: “It’s my last episode today on @BBCCasualty I had the most amazing time being on this show and met the most incredible people!!
“One of the best shows to work on!! Thanks to everyone!! Hope you enjoy the feature length show tonight!! It’s a good one (sic)”
Her former co-star Michael Stevenson (Iain Dean) was among those to offer kind words on social media.
He cheekily quipped: “The most incredible ‘PEOPLE’! Bloody predictive text obvs meant to write ‘PERSON’! It was lovely to meet you too! (sic)”
Gemma’s exit saw Rebecca’s alter-ego decide to leave Holby and join her boyfriend Rash Masum (Neet Mohan) overseas.
Unfortunately for the character, their reunion abroad looks to be short-lived as Rash will be back on the small screen on Saturday’s (17.08.19) episode.
Despite Neet’s impending return, it has been confirmed that Rebecca has shot her final scenes with no plans in place for a comeback.
Although it’s not yet known what brings Rash back to Holby, it doesn’t look like there is a happy ending for the on-screen couple.
Over the weekend, viewers also saw the departure of Amanda Mealing’s alter-ego Connie Beauchamp, who is set to return in 2020.

OHMYGOSSIP — Julianne Moore’s movie choices are inspired by dinners with her parents.
The 58-year-old actress has said that the roles she takes have often been influenced by conversations she’s had with her military judge father and psychiatric social worker mother over the years.
She told CBS News: “I look back and I think about all the conversations that we had at dinner about who people are and why they did what they did. It’s fascinating to me. That’s what you’re always kind of looking at.”
Prolific Julianne – who has a back-catalogue of over 75 films – has no desire to lighten her workload anytime soon.
She added: “I always say that I’m industrious! I like to work. I love what I do. I’m like, ‘Oh my God, after all these years I’m still interested in doing this.’ But I am.”
And while she may be an Oscar-winning star, the ‘Hunger Games’ actress still worries about the fact the job offers will one day stop coming her way.
She said: “We are self-employed, you know? And talk to anybody who’s self-employed, the minute that job is over, you have to find another one. So, people always say, ‘Why do you worry that, you know, it’ll go away?’ And I always say, ‘Because it’s not unprecedented!'”
Julianne won an Academy Award on her fifth nomination for her work on ‘Still Alice’ in 2015 and though she had a good idea she would take the coveted Best Actress statuette, there was still a a part of her that feared being part of a “big upset”.
She said: “By the time you get to the Oscars, people generally know who’s going to win. That being said, I think it’s always hard, because you have to find a way to feel natural when it’s the least natural thing in the world.
“At that point I had won all of the awards up to that, so I remember somebody said to me, ‘If you’re not winning tonight, it’ll be the biggest upset in Academy history.’ And I thought, Please don’t let it be the biggest upset!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Domhnall Gleeson admits the script for ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ was “different” to what he anticipated.
The 36-year-old actor – who plays General Hux in the science fiction franchise – has opened up about working on the ninth instalment of the series, which is set for release later this year, revealing it was an “exciting page-turner” that left him feeling like he was “part of a cool club”.
He said: “It was cool, it was a page-turner and it was different than what I thought. It was great.
“It was exciting and you feel part of this tiny club that gets to read these things before other people and that was great, really cool.”
Domhnall made his ‘Star Wars’ debut in the 2015 film ‘The Force Awakens’, and the Irish actor is “proud” to have been part of such a “good movie”.
He told Collider: “I like being part of good films and I think the two films, and hopefully the three films because I’ve not seen the third one … I think they’re two really, really good films.
“I hope the next one is a really good one too. I like being in good movies more than I like being in franchises or anything else, so similarly to this, I’m just proud to have been part of something good, because often times it doesn’t work out. So when it does it feels right.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Quentin Tarantino’s final movie will be “epilogue-y”.
The 56-year-old director – who previously revealed that his tenth movie will be the final project of his legendary career – has teased details of the much-hyped film.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Tarantino explained: “If you think about the idea of all the movies telling one story, and each film is like a train boxcar connected to each other, [‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’] would sort of be the big show-stopping climax of it all. And I could imagine that the tenth one would be a little more epilogue-y.”
‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ starred the likes of Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Leonardo DiCaprio.
And Brad recently revealed he relished the experience of working with the legendary filmmaker.
He shared: “Quentin just keeps a really fresh vibe going, just a lot of talk about film, a lot of laughs and telling stories in between takes.
“And then we get pretty good takes.”
The acclaimed actor also admitted he enjoyed working with DiCaprio.
Reflecting on his on-set experience with the Hollywood superstar, he said: “He’s a good egg.
“Easy peasy, and I was really happy to have him to help carry the load.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Mindy Kaling says writing ‘Late Night’ was “so satisfying” as she could relate to both main characters.
The 40-year-old actress and producer recently penned the comedy-drama film in which she stars as a writer who is hired mainly on the basis she is an Indian-American woman, to save the career of a seasoned late-night host, played by Emma Thompson.
The ‘Office’ star explained that she felt “uniquely qualified” to empathise with both her own character – as she has experienced being a minority writer in a mainly white and male writing room – as well as Thompson’s character as she herself has been a boss without being on her “best behaviour.”
Speaking to news.com.au, she said: “The movie was so satisfying to write because I feel uniquely qualified in my life to write for both of those characters.
“I remember, vividly, what it’s like to be the only woman or minority in a writer’s room when I was 24 years old.
“But I also remember, more recently, the frustration of being an employer, having Katherine’s opposition, and being a little complacent, a little bit bored with your job.
“You employ all these people but you’re not always on your best behaviour and I know that feeling well.”
The ‘Mindy Project’ star went on to confess that championing other women from culturally diverse backgrounds in the writer’s room hasn’t always been the easiest thing to do.
She said: “For the longest time when I was on my own show, being a showrunner and the star was so time-consuming.
“At times it felt like being a mentor or taking the energy to look deeper than normal on what people were submitting for characters or writers is so time-consuming.
“But what I learnt recently is it’s the only way to change culture and it’s completely worth it, and the fact that I did take the extra time to try and find cast and writers on these two shows I’m writing now has really made a difference for the better on both of those projects.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Karl Urban thinks the studio behind the ‘Star Trek’ franchise would be “insane” to ignore the talents of Quentin Tarantino.
The legendary director has been heavily linked with an involvement with an upcoming ‘Star Trek’ movie, and Karl – who plays the role of Leonard McCoy in the rebooted film series – has welcomed the idea.
He told HuffPost: “I think Quentin Tarantino doing that film would be phenomenal.
“He is definitely one of the most exciting filmmakers that’s currently working and if he has an interest in making a ‘Star Trek’ film, I think the studio would be insane not to let him do that.”
Karl also admitted he’d relish the chance to work with Tarantino, 56.
He said: “Obviously, I’d very much relish the opportunity to be a part of it, if it came to be.”
Meanwhile, Tarantino previously insisted that the tenth movie of his career would be his last.

OHMYGOSSIP — Alison King is reportedly engaged to her mystery long-term partner.
The 46-year-old actress – who is best-known for playing Carla Connor in ‘Coronation Street’ – is said to have accepted her partner’s marriage proposal earlier this month and her co-stars, including Jane Danson and Kym Marsh, are delighted for her.
An insider told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “Ali is so popular with everyone on the cobbles. They think it’s wonderful.
“The engagement is a lovely surprise. Ali is over the moon.”
Alison previously dated ‘Coronation Street’ sound technician Adam Huckett from 2007 until 2012.
The former couple got engaged in Paris in 2011, but they decided to go their separate ways the following year.
Speaking about the actress’ current romance, the source added: “Ali has ­obviously endured heartache in the past. But she is hoping those days are now firmly behind her.
“She is very excited about what the future holds.”
Alison actually walked away from her role in ‘Coronation Street’ in 2016, admitting she wanted to spend more quality time with her daughter, who was born in 2009.
The soap star – who has since returned to the show – said at the time: “I’ve probably only ever done about 20 pick-ups or drop-offs in all the time my daughter’s been at school, which is quite sad.

OHMYGOSSIP — James ‘Arg’ Argent has turned to Tyson Fury in a bid to lose weight.
The reality TV star is desperate to shed his excess weight and he has, therefore, reached out to the heavyweight boxer, who also ballooned in weight prior to his return to the ring.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “He has asked Tyson if he can help him shift the pounds because if he doesn’t do something drastic, his health is at risk.
“He is great friends with Tyson, and he has agreed to help him out. Arg gets on much better when he is doing something he enjoys, like being in a boxing gym.
“Tyson has said he can give him tips and advice to train efficiently. He said diet and discipline was a key factor and that is where Arg really needs to sort himself out.”
Meanwhile, Gemma Collins – James’ on/off girlfriend – recently revealed she expects her partner to sign a pre-nuptial agreement.
The reality TV star confirmed that she and Arg have already discussed the idea of getting a pre-nup.
She said: “In the past, James and I did have conversations and I said to him both of us would sign a pre-nup.
“And if James didn’t sign an NDA (non-disclosure agreement), I’d be like ‘See you later, honey.'”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Kyle is reportedly set to make his TV comeback in 2020.
The 54-year-old presenter – who is best known for fronting ‘The Jeremy Kyle Show’ on ITV – had his show scrapped in May after a guest who failed a lie detector test died in a suspected suicide.
A TV insider told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “Jeremy is a huge ratings draw and he has a great relationship with ITV, who are very keen to bring him back.
“So it was only a matter of time. An ITV team have been told ‘find a format for Jeremy’ and that is what they are working hard to do.
“His team have told them they are open to all ideas.
“As you would expect, chat show formats are being considered, but others are too. And it is not a given that his return will be to daytime TV.
“We are expecting to have initial meetings about what they come up with in September, with the aim of then having Jeremy back on TV early next year.”
Jeremy – who was previously paid around £2 million per year by ITV – is apparently looking forward to returning to work.
A source close to the veteran presenter – whose show first aired in 2005 – said: “Jeremy has a fantastic relationship with ITV and he is excited about possible projects in the future.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘Peaky Blinders’ cast smokes herbal tobacco throughout filming the BBC series, according to Helen McCrory.
The 50-year-old actress – who plays Polly Gray in the hit show – has revealed that the cast make their way through around 5,000 cigarettes during each series of the programme.
She told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “They use herbal tobacco which has no nicotine and tastes horrible. They’re the same type they smoke in theatre productions.
“I used to go to plays for years and wonder why they had a [cannabis joint] on the go during a play and how they could remember their lines.
“It smells, to a layman like me, like someone is smoking cannabis. It’s just a bit funny and not like tobacco.”
Meanwhile, Helen recently confessed she couldn’t watch the “disgustingly violent” opening episode of the new series of ‘Peaky Blinders’.
The actress warned fans about “disturbing” scenes in the fifth season, but she insisted the portrayal of such savagery “should be horrifying”.
She said: “It is very violent and it’s really horrible and you should look away.
“I’ve only seen episode one, and there’s a whole bit … We saw the screening in Birmingham, for fans who managed to get lottery tickets.
“I look away from the screen. I as Helen can’t watch it. I think it’s disgusting, gratuitous violence. It is … no, not gratuitous – disgustingly violent.
“But it is. And it should be. I think it’s much more disturbing than somebody slashes somebody’s face or somebody shoots somebody and it’s all just the end of it.”

The ‘Love Island’ beauty lashed out at her former boyfriend – who she met on the ITV2 show – during a date on E4’s ‘Celebs Go Dating’ and admitted that he broke her heart by texting former co-star Amber Davies behind her back.
Speaking during a date with a girl on ‘Celebs Go Dating’, bisexual Megan said: “Basically, I feel like he wanted to have his cake and eat it,” Megan sighs.
He wanted to have me there, and date me, but also like, he’s living the life of a budget version of Chris Brown. He was loving life!”
She later told dating agents Anna Williamson and Paul Carrick Brunson: “Cracks started to appear [in the relationship].
“I thought we had this future, like he spoke to me about kids and marriage and it came on the radio that he was sexting another ‘Love Island’ contestant.

OHMYGOSSIP — Natalie Portman would feel “weird” playing a parent in a movie.
The 38-year-old star – who has Aleph, eight, and two-year-old Amalia with husband Benjamin Millepied – has deliberately taken on roles such as a singer in ‘Vox Lux’ and an astronaut in ‘Lucy in the Sky’ because they are so far removed from her everyday life.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she said: “I just feel weird if I’m at work pretending to be a mom to some kid who’s not my kid.
“So I’ve been trying out wild experiences like being an astronaut or a pop star.”
The Oscar-winning actress is keen to direct again and has also been writing a script when her children have gone to bed.
She said: “I’ve been working a little bit, you know, I get the kids to bed, do the dishes, do the laundry, and then write for an hour, which has been… fun!”
Natalie has been a vocal advocate of the Time’s Up movement but still thinks she could “do more”.
She said: “I’ve been so inspired by the many women I’ve met through Time’s Up – like Reese Witherspoon, America Ferrera and Kerry Washington – who are doing such impressive creative work, producing, acting, directing and taking such good care of their families.
“They are inspiring activists and also great friends. Whenever I think I have too much to handle, I see what they’re doing and know I can do more.”
Last year, the ‘Black Swan’ actress spoke about the “sexual terrorism” she’d experienced when she was starting her career at the age of 13 but she insists there are others who have experienced worse.

OHMYGOSSIP — A feature film documentary about ‘Batwatch’ is in the works.
Filmmakers Matthew Felker and Brian Corso are working with former cast members of the iconic show to create ‘Baywatch: The Documentary’, which will tell the inside story of the TV hit.
Felker said: “We want to show the audience how it culturally shaped an entire decade. The look and feel and tone of ‘Baywatch’ bled into everything ’90s. ‘Baywatch’ is about as synonymous with a decade as the Kardashians are to today’s current pop culture.”
David Hasselhoff, Nicole Eggert, David Chokachi, Alexandra Paul, Erika Eleniak, Gena Lee Nolin Hulse, Jason Simmons and Jeremy Jackson have all been confirmed to take part, while producers are also hoping to get access to Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra and Michael Bergi.
Eggert will produce the documentary, along with Felker, Corso, Ari Shofet and Drew Arnold.
Speaking about the show, Hasselhoff – who played series lead Mitch Buchannon – told The Hollywood Reporter: “What a phenomenal experience it was to be part of the ‘Baywatch’ journey from the shows first season being cancelled to lasting over 10 years to being rebooted some 30 years later. I am honored and proud of the work our cast and crew did together. ‘Baywatch’ is truly a spectacular worldwide hit and has affected millions of people and saved a lot of lives. ‘Baywatch’ forever!”
Eggert, who played Summer Quinn, added: “The most amazing part of being involved with ‘Baywatch’ for me is that not only was it one of the most fun jobs on Earth, but people responded and loved what we were doing almost as much as we loved doing it. Having your work appreciated like that is extremely rewarding. It also brought opportunities to help people understand water safety and what to do in an emergency. Not sure how you could top doing what you love, having people all over the world loving what you’re doing and actually educating people all at the same time. An experience of a lifetime.”

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’ bosses are searching for a male virgin, a female stripper and someone related to royalty for the new season of the show.
Casting agents and talent spotters for the ITV2 show – hosted by Caroline Flack – have been asked to find an eclectic mix of people to take part in the upcoming winter series, which will air in January.
They are also on the lookout for a rock chick and a male surfer dude.
A source told The Sun Online: “It’s no secret that contestants for the show come through a lot of different channels.
“As well as tens of thousands of people applying through ITV’s website this year, the show accepts contestants put forward by talent scouts and agents, and producers approach people on social media too.”
It was previously revealed that the ITV2 dating show is also seeking “twins, goth girls and Essex lads”.
One guy, who was approached by show bosses at a Spanish pool party, said: “I was asked if I was single and they showed me credentials from ITV2.
“I was a bit nervous about giving my name so they then showed me an email where they’d been asked to find ‘types’. On there, it listed twins, goth girls and Essex lads.”
While the show will move to a brand new villa in South Africa for a winter sun version of the show, the summer series will return to Europe later in the year as usual.
