Spencer Matthews would’ve ‘lost’ wife Vogue Williams if he hadn’t stopped drinking

OHMYGOSSIP — Spencer Matthews has admitted he would’ve “lost” his wife Vogue Williams if he hadn’t quit alcohol.
The former ‘Made in Chelsea’ star says he and Vogue had a “highly social, quite boozy relationship” after they first met on Channel 4 reality TV show ‘The Jump’.
But the star – who has son Theo, five, daughter Gigi, three, and two-year-old son Otto, with Vogue – knew he eventually had to give up drink to keep his marriage on track.
Speaking on The Mail’s ‘Everything I Know About Me’ podcast, Spencer said: “There was a certainty that I would lose Vogue, if I carried on drinking the way I was drinking.”
Spencer – who married the model in 2018 – has recalled going on a “mental bender” after he won ‘The Jump’, but he later felt like a “real mess”.
He said: “When I won I went on some like mental bender, lost everything.
“I was beginning to feel like I was a real mess, then. And that was a bit unusual for me.”
While he claimed Vogue is “a bit of a binge drinker”, she ditched alcohol when pregnant with Theo, but Spencer continued to drink at that time.
But because Vogue wasn’t drinking, it “emphasised” Spencer’s alcohol intake.
He said: “My drinking was emphasised by the fact that she wasn’t drinking.
“There was a general level of disappointment in her about me.
“I’ve always wanted people who are close to me to be proud of me.”
But he quit alcohol after a turning point in 2017, when he drank most of a bottle of whiskey.
Earlier this year, Spencer told how he “could’ve died” during the height of his “abusive drinking” habit.

1980s sitcom slapped with BritBox trigger warnings

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Terry and June’ has been slapped with trigger warnings.
The classic 1980s sitcom – which aired 65 episodes over nine series from 1979 to 1987 – was known for being a more mild family show – saw Terry Scott and June Whitfield playing a married middle class couple from Surrey.
Now, BBC and ITV’s subscription service BritBox has introduced a warning about the episodes.
The message warns viewers about “discriminatory language of the period”.
The sitcom typically focused on misunderstandings which put Terry in farcical situations.
A number of episodes appear to have content which Britbox feels could offend certin viewers.
In one, Terry hears someone singing and jokes: “Last time I heard screeching like that was when I accidentally vacuumed the cat.”
There were apparently concerns that animal lovers could take issue, while another scene saw Terry’s boss dressed in Native American fancy dress, while putting on an accent and adopting other stereotypes.
In response, BritBox said: “Programming that contains potentially sensitive language has carried appropriate warnings since our launch.
“We regularly re-examine our historical programming in order to review, re-label, provide context and ensure the right guidance is in place for viewers.”
The streaming service has put warnings on a number of older shows over the years, including ”Allo ‘Allo!’, which was set during the Germany’s occupation of France during World War Two and starred Gordan Kaye as French café owner Renee.
The warning read: “This classic comedy contains language and attitudes of the time that may offend some viewers.”
When it first aired, the comedy was originally shown on BBC One in a teatime slot from 1982 to 1992.
An insider told the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column back in 2021: “Bosses are worried the pantomime-esque sexual innuendo and the stereotyping of French and German characters could cause offence in today’s ‘woke’ world.”

Lorraine Kelly and Bruno Tonioli to join Late Night Lycett

OHMYGOSSIP — Lorraine Kelly, Bruno Tonioli and Kiell Smith-Bynoe will join Joe Lycett for episode three of ‘Late Night Lycett’.
The comedian will welcome some more of his celebrity pals to his hometown of Birmingham, and presenter Tom Read Wilson will adopt the role of ‘Hunderstudy’ when he hosts an after-party for boy band Blue as they perform in Gateshead.
Regular show features “Where is Natalie Cassidy”, about the whereabouts of the ‘EastEnders’ actress, and “There’s something Teeny on Claire Sweeney” will return for a third episode of the show, which is filmed in front of a live audience.
Previously in the show, David Potts assumed the role of Joe’s ‘Hunderstudy’ as he opened a public toilet in Reading, and Sinitta visited a naturist spa.
Series two has already featured star guests such as Danny Dyer, Kate Garraway, Big Zuu, Alesha Dixon, Paddy McGuinness and Alexander Armstrong.
The celebrities have hung out with Joe, his aunties, and LGBTQ+ heroes in the studio, which is situated on the banks of the Digbeth canals.
While Joe is enjoying being himself in the show, the star previously admitted he would love to appear in a sitcom in which he plays a fictionalised version of himself.
In December, when asked if he would be up for starring in a sitcom, he said: “Maybe, I mean I’m not a good actor so it would need someone to write a role exactly for how I would react at any moment.”
Tune in to ‘Late Night Lycett’ every Friday at 10pm on Channel 4.

David Leitch: Ryan Gosling was completely influential in shaping The Fall Guy character

OHMYGOSSIP — David Leitch has revealed Ryan Gosling had a major influence on his character in ‘The Fall Guy’.
The 48-year-old filmmaker has helmed the new action comedy movie that features Ryan as the battle-scarred stuntman Colt Seavers and explained how the ‘Barbie’ star had an instrumental role in constructing his alter ego.
Speaking to Screen Rant, David said: “Ryan was completely influential in shaping this character. He came on early in the development process, the only actor we went to.
“And we had a conversation early on that was like, ‘Hey man, I’m good at romance. Have you seen ‘The Notebook’? And I did ‘The Nice Guys’, I can be funny. I just did this thing called ‘Gray Man’. I sort of dipped my toe into action, but I’d love to make ‘The Fall Guy’ sort of something where I can do all of that stuff and really have fun with all of my skill sets.’
“And so, from the development phase, he was really influential in creating this character, and even scene for scene all the way up to shooting, even into post, we were close collaborators on this project.”
The ‘Bullet Train’ director explained that Ryan and his co-star encouraged producer Kelly McCormick to change the tone of the movie so it featured more romantic elements.
Leitch explained: “It’s funny, it started out as a noir, and we were going to do sort of an L.A. noir, but I think Ryan influenced Kelly McCormick, and [so did] our creative producer and Emily. There were a lot of influences, but we kept leaning more into fun.
“Ryan brought up the romance. Kelly was working on Emily’s character to take her from makeup artist to director.
“The noirish investigation fell off, and we’re starting to lean into this rom-com as we’re developing the script in this sort of collaborative bubble.
“We just started to lean into the fun and what a beautiful experience it is to make movies and how we spread that joy in this film, so it was like fun choices overrode everything else we could make.”

Renee Zellweger and Leo Woodall to kiss in new Bridget Jones movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Renee Zellweger will lock lips with Leo Woodall in the new ‘Bridget Jones’ film.
The 55-year-old star is reprising the role for the fourth time in the upcoming movie ‘Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy’ and it has been confirmed that the ‘One Day’ actor – who is 28 years her junior – will be her love interest in the new picture.
The film, which is based on Helen Fielding’s 2013 novel of the same name, will see Bridget adjusting to life as a single mother following the death of her husband Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) and it has been suggested that the character will be a “cougar” in the flick that is being released in February 2025.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Bridget is going to be a real cougar in the new film and she’ll be seen starting a relationship with a much younger character played by Leo.
“He was thrilled about landing the part and will have a major role as her love interest in ‘Mad About the Boy’.
“Bridget is a single mum trying to navigate a new world of social media and dating apps after Mark’s death, so she’s definitely going to end up in a pickle.
“Hugh Grant is back as Daniel Cleaver, so there will be a love triangle between Bridget’s older flame and this much younger new man.”
Grant is returning following his absence from the third film, 2016’s ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’, and thinks that the next movie will be the best in the series yet.
The ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ actor told Entertainment Tonight: “I’ll tell you what, I think this script for the fourth Bridget is the best one of the four. And, in fact, one of the best scripts I have read in a long time.”

Hugh Grant’s homemade iPhone audition left Jerry Seinfeld ‘stunned’

OHMYGOSSIP — Hugh Grant’s homemade iPhone audition clip left the ‘Unfrosted’ writers “stunned”.
The ‘Notting Hill’ star features in Jerry Seinfeld’s comedy ‘Unfrosted’ as Thurl Ravenscroft – the actor who played Tony the Tiger for several decades – and his home-filmed try-out couldn’t have gone down any better.
Recalling his audition, Seinfeld’s co-writer Spike Feresten told IndieWire: “He had a glass of wine in his hand, and he was on the couch.
“We were just stunned on how homemade his audition was — and how good it was. Here’s Hugh Grant at 8 o’clock at night before he goes to bed, crushing the lines. Crushing. That’s when we said, ‘Jerry, close this for us. Get this guy.’”
It was no doubt a relief that Grant was perfect for the role because they were “terrified” of not being able to cast anyone.
Seinfeld – who also plays Bob Cabana, an employee of Kellogg’s – said: “There was a long time where we didn’t have anybody to make this movie. We had the budget, we had the script, but we didn’t have any people to play the parts.
“That was one of the most terrifying moments. We would go into this little room that we had with each part on a 3×5 card on the wall. And we had [Jim] Gaffigan as Kellogg — and that was it. And there were like 30 parts.”
However, the ‘Wonka’ actor signing up led to other stars being interested.
He added how “a lot of other people started falling in after that.”
The Netflix film is loosely based on the true story of the creation of Pop-Tarts toaster pastries.
The cast also includes Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, Amy Schumer, James Marsden, Jack McBrayer, Thomas Lennon, Bobby Moynihan, Maria Bakalova, Max Greenfield, Bill Burr, Dan Levy, and Christian Slater.

Anne Hathaway gives update on potential Princess Diaries and Devil Wears Prada sequels

OHMYGOSSIP — Anne Hathaway has revealed ‘The Princess Diaries 3’ is in a “good place”, but she admitted a ‘Devil Wears Prada’ sequel is “probably not” going to happen.
The 41-year-old actress admitted there is “nothing to announce yet” in terms of a third ‘Princess Diaries’ movie in the franchise, which sees Hathaway as an ordinary teen who discovers she’s actually royalty, but it appears to be progressing well.
Speaking to V magazine about another ‘Princess Diaries’ motion picture, she said: “We’re in a good place. That’s all I can say.
“There’s nothing to announce yet. But we’re in a good place.”
However, Hathaway admitted she cannot see a ‘Devil Wears Prada’ sequel coming to fruition, but if someone did think of a way to do it then the original cast – which includes Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci – would be “crazy not to” take part.
Speaking about the possibility of a follow up, she added: “Probably not.
“We all love each other and if somebody could come up with a way to do it, I think we’d all be crazy not to.”
The 2006 original saw Hathaway portray aspiring journalist Andy Sachs, who is hired as a personal assistant to fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestly (Streep), the editor-in-chief of Runway magazine.
Hathaway added: “But there’s a huge difference in the world now with technology, and one of the things about that particular story is it was about producing a physical object.
“Now with so much being digital, it would just be very different. Maybe me, Stanley, Emily, Meryl, Dave Frankel, Patricia Field … we should just all do something else together. That’d be fun.”

Mrs Brown’s Boys star Gary Hollywood and his wife Cherylanne expecting 2nd child together

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’ star Gary Hollywood and his wife Cherylanne are expecting their second child together.
The 44-year-old actor and Cherylanne, 35 – who got married five years ago – welcomed son Ollie into the world four years ago, and they now have a sibling on the way for the youngster.
Gary told OK! magazine: “This news has just made up our year. We couldn’t be happier.”
Cherylanne, who is 16 weeks pregnant, added: “Ollie is so excited to be a big brother.
“Although he’s rooting for a sister. I think it’s because he doesn’t want to share his toys.
“He said I’ve to eat pink food to help.”
Last year, the couple suffered a miscarriage, which they found out at their 12-week scan.
Gary said: “It’s given us so much respect and understanding for other people who’ve gone through what we went through.
“Thankfully, we now have a happy story to tell and another addition to our family.”
Cherylanne has been experiencing a “mixture of emotions” to be expecting again, but the couple “couldn’t be more thrilled”.
She added: “We found out we were expecting just after my birthday in February, we are just over the moon. We’ve been trying again for a while.
“After I miscarried I said that we wouldn’t do it again, but I think that was just the process of healing.
“I went into my 12-week scan feeling excited but leaving with absolute devastation. So, this time around I do often think about something going wrong but I’m also not trying to wish this time away. It’s definitely a mixture of emotions – but we couldn’t be more thrilled.”

George Gilbey laid to rest after 7k raised to give Gogglebox star ‘send off he deserves’

OHMYGOSSIP — George Gilbey has been laid to rest.
The former ‘Gogglebox’ star passed away last month aged 40, and his funeral took place on Thursday (25.04.24) at Weeley Crematorium, near his hometown of Clacton in Essex.
A GoFundMe account was set up to raise money for the service to give George the “send off he deserves”, and more than £7,000 was donated.
Hundreds of family and friends gathered to pay their respects to the late electrician, who tragically passed away after he fell through a skylight at work last month.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “George has been laid to rest and his family have said their last goodbyes.
“It was a terribly sad day and devastating for everyone concerned, particularly his mother Linda who was in bits.
“George also has a daughter and it was terrible for her as well as his ex-partner.
“He has gone far too soon, but despite everything people tried their best to celebrate his life.”
A picture of George on ‘Gogglebox’ alongside his mum Linda and his stepdad Pete McGarry – who passed away from bowel cancer aged 71 in 2021, days after he had been given six months to live – was placed alongside several other floral tributes to the star.
These included some claret and blue flowers, in a nod to George’s favourite football team, West Ham United.
On Monday (22.04.24), an inquest was told George died from traumatic head and torso injuries following a fall at work.
He was working on a roof in Shoeburyness, Essex, on March 27th at the time.
The hearing was suspended following a request from the Essex Police, pending the outcome of a criminal investigation.
Proceedings have been adjourned for four months as a result.
A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter relating to the star’s passing, but he has since been released by police under investigation.
George first appeared in ‘Gogglebox’ in 2013’s second series, but he left the show a year later to enter ‘Celebrity Big Brother’, on which he finished fourth.

OHMYGOSSIP — Amanda Holden and Alan Carr ‘s ‘The Italian Job’ will undergo a major shake-up for its third series.
The pair’s renovation series will get a new name ‘Alan and Amanda’s Spanish Job’ as they swap Italy for Spain’s Costa del Sol this summer.
Alan, 47, told The Mirror: “It’s always exciting when a show you love gets recommissioned but the fact that we will be bringing our unique DIY expertise to a whole different country makes it even more special. We are saying ciao for now and Hola España! Can’t wait to grab our power tools and get our hard hats on and bring some much-needed TLC to a casa in Spain.”
Amanda, 53, added: “It’s wonderful how often I’m stopped in the street and told how much people love our show. Alan and I have the best time filming it and to have reached series three already is beyond the dreams of our lockdown pitch to the BBC!
“By day we love getting our hands dirty knocking down walls and lugging around power tools knowing we’ll be sipping on an ice-cold reward by night, forgetting the cameras are rolling. Bring on the Spanish sun, we can’t wait to get started and continue to help Comic Relief and Children In Need along the way.”
All proceeds from the sale will go to the BBC’s charities Comic Relief and Children In Need.
Meanwhile, Amanda recently revealed she would love to host the BAFTAs with Alan.
She told The Sun’s TV Magazine about their future plans: “We thrive on live telly! The BAFTAs might be good, but I feel it would be a tough audience.”

“There’s a band called Wet Leg, and I’m like, ‘Why would you call yourself Wet Leg, love?’”

Paul Hollywood signs six-figure promotion deal

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Hollywood has signed a six-figure deal to star in the Compare the Market adverts.
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ star will follow in the footsteps of Hollywood stars including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Nicole Kidman and Macaulay Culkin who have previously appeared in the ads.
A TV insider told The Sun newspaper: “This is particularly surprising given that the ‘Bake Off’ judge very rarely lends his name to anything or takes part in campaigns.
“But the meerkat ads are well-liked and he thought the way they were going to use him was funny and clever.
“And Paul is an international star worthy of an international campaign because ‘Bake Off’ has made him a famous face around the world.”
Paul’s surname will reportedly be used as a pun to promote the company’s 2-4-1 cinema tickets offer.
Meanwhile, Paul, 57, recently was recently awarded an MBE for his services to baking and broadcasting.
Speaking after he received the honour from The Princess Royal at Windsor Castle, he told the BBC: “I was over the moon. When I (first found out) I told my mum and she was silent on the phone, which is quite unusual for my mum.
“I wish my nan had seen it. She was very fond of the Royal Family, as we all are.
“But specifically she would’ve been over the moon. But my mum was here today so she was loving it.”
Paul added that he has “always been fond” of Princess Anne after meeting her a few years ago at Buckingham Palace.
He said: “We were all with members of the royal family and I just happened to be there with Princess Anne. So to see her again was fantastic.
“She did say ‘baking is so integral to the DNA of us all. We love the smell’. And I said ‘absolutely, I grew up with the smell’.
“I think she’s particularly fond of Chelsea buns. I promised her some, so I put myself on the spot there.”

Amanda Holden says Simon Cowell can never sack her

OHMYGOSSIP — Amanda Holden says Simon Cowell can never sack her from ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.
Simon, 64, swapped his London mansion for a country house near Amanda, 53, in the Cotswolds last year and she insisted the move will keep her on the show because it would be too awkward for Simon to face her in their local pub if he fired her.
She told The Sun newspaper: “I see Simon most weekends in the Cotswolds, so it would be very uncomfortable for him.
“My local pub is now their local pub, so often I’ll get a table and the manager will go, ‘Oh, you know your friend Simon is coming in?’, and I’ll go, ‘Oh for God’s sake! OK, let’s just turn it into a table for 10 then’.”
Amanda has been a judge on the show for 15 years and says she is still grateful for the opportunity.
She said: ““That call to say ‘You’ve got a job’, it’s still the most amazing day for me, even 30 years into my career.
“I never know I’m coming back for ‘BGT’. We do not have long contracts, we’re contracted yearly and I’ve never expected it.
“Simon is not frightened of a change. But there are other ways I earn my money, so I try to go, ‘If I get it again, then great’.
“Simon always says I’m like a competition winner, but I think I just still have an actor’s mentality that you never know when your next job is, so you make the most of the moment.”

Debi Mazar regrets turning down The Wedding Singer

OHMYGOSSIP — Debi Mazar regrets turning down a role in ‘The Wedding Singer’.
The 59-year-old actress was offered the role of Holly Sullivan, cousin and friend to lead character Julia Sullivan (Drew Barrymore) in the 1998 romantic comedy but revealed she rejected it, which she still regrets.
Speaking on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’, she said: “I wanted to do ‘The Wedding Singer’, and I got the part, and I was so excited because I really was such a huge fan of Adam [Sandler]. And then my agent said, you know, ‘Don’t do it, you’re not getting paid the right amount of money.’ And I was like, wait, what?”
Debi explained she dropped out “only because my agent told me, ‘Just, just hang on, don’t do it’.”
Christine Taylor went on to play the role of Holly and Debi said: “I regret it to this day. I [said sorry] to Adam Sandler, I said, ‘Oh my God, I was so young. My agent told me the wrong information.’ I ended up firing my agent after that, obviously. And so I’m happy for you [Taylor]. To this day I have such regret, because I so wanted to do that movie, and I just was young and made a stupid decision.”
‘The Wedding Singer’, directed by Frank Coraci, follows a wedding singer, Robbie (Sandler), in 1985 as he goes through the breakdown of his own relationship before falling for waitress Julia, who is engaged.

Kit Harington reveals why his new movie role was exactly the role he wanted after Game of Thrones

OHMYGOSSIP — Kit Harington wants to focus on playing villains.
The 37-year-old actor is best known for his role as the heroic Jon Snow in the HBO fantasy series ‘Game of Thrones’ but is now starring as drug dealer Ricky in the new drama ‘Blood For Dust’ – which follows desperate salesman Cliff (Scoot McNairy) as agrees to partner with Ricky and run cocaine across Montana wth Kit’s character – and admitted that he is “not so interested” in protagonist roles anymore.
He told Entertainment Weekly: “That is seemingly what I’ve been hunting a bit. If I look at the roles I’ve taken since playing an out-and-out hero in ‘Game of Thrones’, I have to admit there seems to be some sort of pushback about playing a hero. I’m not so interested in heroic roles, and if I am, they have to be pretty anti-hero-ish.”
The ‘Baby Ruby’ star explained that playing heroes can be very difficult and finds it more “fascinating” as an actor to play a villain because he is constantly searching for reasons why they might behave the way they do.
He said: “They’re f****** hard to play and to make interesting. It is more fascinating as an actor, I think, to empathize with someone deeply faulted and wrong, to try and find your way into why they are doing these things.
“[Playing] a guy who is doing all the right things and is driven by being good, it’s harder to do that. And I think people who do it successfully, who play classically heroic roles, are very talented actors. But at the moment, I just find it more interesting looking for the f***** up people.”

Rylan Clark’s X Factor secret

OHMYGOSSIP — Rylan Clark only applied for ‘The X Factor’ to buy a new car.
The 35-year-old star auditioned for Simon Cowell’s popstar search show in 2012 and has gone on to become one of Britain’s most popular broadcasters but Rylan admitted he had no long-term plans when he first signed up for ‘The X Factor’.
He told The Mirror: “I never intended what happened for me, to happen. I’ll tell you the Gods honest truth, the reason I went on ‘X Factor’ was my car just broke down, right? Patsy the Peugeot, long may she rest.
“I thought, if I could go on that show, last one week of live shows, get a couple of gigs in some gay clubs, earn about 20 grand, I’ll be able to get a new Patsy, buy my mum a new front door, and might be able to start renting somewhere on my own as I was still living with my mum at the time.
“Well I’ve built three houses and now I drive a Range Rover so I’ve done alright!”
And, if it all went away tomorrow, he thinks he would be fine.
He said: “I don’t know tomorrow, but if it all flies away, I’ve got them two houses. That is the worst case scenario – living with my mum again.
“I was very, very lucky that I was on ‘X Factor’ at a time that it did still make people. And celebrity in those days was a lot more of a currency than what it is nowadays.
“Now anyone can be famous by taking their phone and saying the right or wrong thing. And then we all know about it. We all know that you can be in someone’s living room 24/7 just by holding your palm up, whereas in those days you couldn’t…”
