Si King insists there is no Hairy Bikers without Dave Myers

OHMYGOSSIP — Si King has insisted he won’t continue as the Hairy Bikers without Dave Myers.
The 57-year-old chef was left devastated when his presenting partner died of cancer in February and while he’s currently figuring out his own future, he insisted he won’t be continuing with the moniker in which they made their names.
He told the Observer magazine: “It can’t be the Hairy Bikers 2.0. That’s not going to happen. It wouldn’t be respectful.”
“There’s obviously the sense of losing your best mate. But there’s also a sense of loss in that the experiences we had together can’t go on…
“There is no Hairy Bikers without Dave. Because it’s plural.”
Si admitted working out his own future is “very difficult”, particularly because he “needs” to have someone else to work with.
He said: “It’s only in the past couple of weeks that I’ve started to think about what I want to do. I’ve spent all my life from very young thinking about what other people want and what their needs and aspirations are. So to be presented at my age with the question of what you really want to do is very difficult. We were a partnership, a double act..
“I need someone to play off. I’m good at unpacking people. I’m genuinely interested in people’s stories.”
But discussing the idea of a travelogue with another famous face, he said: “It’s virtually impossible to think about that sort of thing at the minute.”
However, Si is keen to continue working and hopes to retain the Hairy Bikers’ fans.
He said: “I don’t think as a creative person you ever stop being creative. How can you retire from yourself? Do I want to do more books? Yes, I do. Do I want to make more programmes? Yes, I do.
“It would be incredibly churlish not to say thank you to our fanbase. I sincerely hope that whatever I do next they come with me and we start another journey together.”

Charlie Lawson slams ‘extremely average’ acting on Coronation Street

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ legend Charlie Lawson fears the soap won’t be around in a decade.
The 64-year-old actor – who has played Jim McDonald on and off since 1989 – warned some “extremely average” acting is putting off viewers, and the older cast members are so exhausted with their heavy workload, he can’t see them sticking around much longer.
Charlie claimed he and Sarah Lancashire, who played Raquel Watts from 1991 to 1996, recently discussed their fears for the show at the funeral of former writer John Stevenson, who died aged 86 in September.
He told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “I fear that ‘Corrie’ might not be here in ten years’ time. Sarah and I were talking. We both agreed John wouldn’t recognise the show.
“We felt it was a completely different animal, so fundamentally different from our day — and the viewing figures have plummeted.”
Charlie warned the likes of Sue Nicholls, 80, and 90-year-old Barbara Knox – who play Audrey Roberts and Rita Tanner respectively – could follow veteran star Helen Worth out of the door after she announced she is leaving her role of Gail Platt after 50 years.
He said: “The workload is huge. The cast is huge, there’s less time for enjoyment, for fun, to get to know the vast quantity of people there.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if some of the stable of elderly actors leave too. I know they are not happy, it’s not the happy ship it used to be.
“They are the foundation of ‘Corrie’, and the young ones have to try and live up to that. But I’m afraid most of them never will. Some are great but many performances from some of the younger cast are extremely average, sometimes disappointing.
“They use Alison King all the time because she’s a f****** brilliant actress. But I know she gets absolutely knackered.
“If you’ve got the best centre forward on the park, you use them. And they do, with Simon (Gregson) too. They are quality, they get flogged sometimes.”
Charlie last appeared on the show in 2018 and while he’d like to return again, he fears it would only be for his alter ego to die.
He said: “The only way I can see him going back is to die.
“How could Jim fit in now? Television has become dipped in a large bucket of PC woke s***e. You’d have to change him completely, cut his nuts off. I couldn’t play that.
“It would be a disservice to every ‘Corrie’ writer past and present and to the character, who became a legend.
“It’s sad. I want the character to stay alive for ever.”

Alan Hansen released from hospital

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Match of the Day’ co-host Alan Hansen has been released from hospital.
The ex-footballer turned TV pundit, 69, was admitted to hospital in early June – sparking a flood of tributes and well-wishes from his footballing friends – but it was announced on Sunday (23.06.24) he will now continue his recovery from a serious illness at home.
A statement from Liverpool FC said: “Alan has been discharged from hospital today to continue his recovery at home.
“Alan, Janet, Adam, Lucy and family would like to thank everybody for their wonderful messages of love and support. It has been overwhelming and has helped enormously.”
‘Match of the Day’ host Gary Lineker, 63, said the announcement of Alan being discharged from hospital was the “best news ever”, while ex-Newcastle United player Alan Shearer, 53, celebrated online by posting three clapping emojis.
Alan appeared on the BBC’s ‘Match of the Day’ for 22 years from 1992 to 2014.
Gary posted on X when he was hospitalised: “Horrendous news. Thoughts are with Alan, Janet and all the family.”
Former player Graeme Souness, 71, told talkSport days ago: “Anyone who’s met Alan once… you know he’s got a wicked sense of humour.
“So, for two conversations with him in the last five or six days, both conversations were me on the receiving end of his humour.
“So that tells me he’s on the way back.”
He previously said about his old friend: “I believe he was the best footballing centre-half ever. And I know that is some statement but I really believe that.
“I saw it first hand he was a really quality performer and a great human being.
“You know when people are in trouble with illness, people say they’re great guys, but I’m telling you he is a great guy.
“You’d have to search a very long way to find anyone saying a bad word about him – that takes some doing.
“And he’s in the fight of his life right now and we should all say a little prayer for him.”

Jack’’s previous ‘Corrie’ co-star Michelle Keegan added: “Awww congratulations to you both” while his other previous onscreen wife Paula Lane added: “So strange I had such a feeling about this when I saw your adventure! Huge congratulations both of you.”
The couple met when Hanni was working at ‘Corrie’ and they got to know each other better when they both attended a friend’s wedding.
Jack previously told OK! magazine: “We met at ‘Corrie’ but we only really knew each other to say hello to at work. Then our mutual friends got married and we were both guests at the wedding. We got chatting, I made Hanni laugh, we had a couple of drinks and we flirted. That was it.
“Then we bumped into each other in Sainsbury’s … Hanni freaked out as she was wearing gym gear and thought she looked a state!”
Jack also explained he always wanted to marry Hanni but he was worried about “scaring” her off.
He added to the publication: “We want to do all those big milestones like marry, have kids and buy a house …
“I didn’t want to scare Hanni off but we did have the discussion about marriage and children early on, as you need to know you want the same things.

Laura Anderson tells troll Gary Lucy hasn’t seen daughter Bonnie in almost six months

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Anderson has called out Gary Lucy for allegedly not seeing their little girl in almost six months.
The 35-year-old former ‘Love Island’ star has nine-month-old daughter Bonnie with the 42-yer-old former ‘Hollyoaks’ actor, but she has claimed he hasn’t been to see her since the start of 2024.
Reacting to a troll who asked if the little one ever sees her dad, Laura replied on Instagram: “Do you mean has her daddy seen her….No he hasn’t since 2nd January if you would like to direct those questions to him as I have no control over the actions of others x.”
Laura responding to the critic comes after she confessed being a single parent has been hard.
The blonde beauty split from Gary before their daughter was born and Laura admitted that while she never expected to be solo when raising her child, she is determined to make it work for them.
She told The Mirror: “I think it was hard to get my head around initially, it wasn’t what I expected. But that’s the cards I was dealt in the end. Of course, I’m going to make it work for my child, even more so. I feel like I’m a really good mum, to be honest.”
However, Laura admitted that things can be difficult.
Offering advice, she said: “Prioritise what you need to do, it’s just me. I have to make it work. I am tired but of course, I’m going to be tired. I’m bringing up a human soul, that’s what I signed up for.
“[Bonnie’s] great, your social life does a take a little bit of a backseat but most people, your good friends understand that.
“Think how many mums out there are struggling with that work-life balance, it’s not just me. It’s so relatable and that’s the best thing about ‘Love Island’, having a social media following, I’ve really understood it more since having a baby. It’s so nice to resonate and it really is a positive place.
“It’s just full of mums, it’s not all about ‘you’re trying to look sexy all the time’ because that’s not important.”

Jodie Foster ‘got stuck’ in acting

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Foster “got stuck” in acting even though she preferred the “technical side of filmmaking”.
‘The Silence of The Lambs’ star shot to fame as a child after getting started in showbiz at the age of three and she’s admitted she never really loved acting because she actually preferred behind behind the camera.
In a chat with actress Jodie Comer for Interview magazine, she explained: “I just got stuck in it when I was three. I probably would’ve been a lawyer or a college professor. It’s just not my way.
“So I loved the technical sides of filmmaking, but I never fell in love with the acting part. It was against my nature, and I think has made me a richer person because of it.”
Jodie added of her acting technique: “I’ve always made movies by myself, where it was just about my character, and I didn’t have to deal with the other actors. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to understand that was selfish of me, jealously guarding something that I didn’t want to share.
“Now I’m learning to enter in and say, ‘How are we together and dynamic?’ Instead of it all being about me. It has been so interesting, because now I meet all these actors that do everything differently.”
Jodie branched out into directing in the early 1990s making her debut behind the camera with 1991 drama ‘Little Man Tate’. She went on to helm Mel Gibson movie ‘The Beaver’ in 2011 as well as 2016’s ‘Money Monster’ as well as directing episodes of ‘Orange Is The New Black’, ‘House of Cards’ and ‘Black Mirror’.
She said of her directing work: “When I direct, I love to talk, so I talk to people about the techniques, but I don’t like to get inside an actor’s body, because I think that’s invasive. Tell me, ‘Faster, slower.’ Tell me, ‘I didn’t feel that part,’ but don’t talk about my childhood, and don’t try and be one with me.”

Marvel star Pom Klementieff in talks for DC role

OHMYGOSSIP — Marvel star Pom Klementieff is in talks for a role at rival superhero firm DC.
The 38-year-old actress plays Mantis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – including 2017’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ and 2023’s ‘Vol. 3’ – and she has spilled that she has been having discussions with DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn about being in the DCEU as “one specific character”, however, she is keeping tight-lipped on who it is.
Appearing at San Antonio’s Superhero Comic Con, Pom was quizzed on who she wants to play and replied: “Do you really think I’m going to answer this question?”
She continued: “I just want to keep working with James, so we’re going to keep trying to find ways to do that.
“Yes, we’ve been talking about one specific character, but I can’t talk about that right now.”
Gunn of course penned and helmed all three ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movies for Marvel, whilst he also directed 2021’s ‘The Suicide Squad’ for DC.
In 2022, Warner Bros. Discovery hired Gunn and Peter Safran to become co-chairmen and co-CEOs of DC Studios. The pair are heading up the soft reboot of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). His upcoming movies include 2025’s ‘Superman’.
As for Pom, she’s got the eighth ‘Mission: Impossible’ film next year, in which she plays French assassin Paris.

Hugh Laurie’s villain set for shock Night Manager return

OHMYGOSSIP — Hugh Laurie’s deceased alter-ego is set to make a sensational return to ‘The Night Manager’.
The 65-year-old actor portrayed arch villain Richard Roper in the first series of the BBC One drama and while he was initially believed to have been killed off, he is set for a shock return.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Everyone was working on the basis he’d been killed in series one, so this will come as a pleasant surprise.
“It’s only going to crank up the excitement for the much-anticipated sequel, which has already started filming and is expected to air next year.”
While Laurie will return for season two of the series, which aired its first season in 2016, co-star Tom Hiddleston is also confirmed for the project.
He will once again play Jonathan Pine, the central hero of John Le Carre’s book, which inspired the series.
And, Olivia Colman has also signed on to return as Foreign Office official Angela Burr.
Other returning cast members include Alistair Petrie as Sandy Langbourne, Douglas Hodge as Rex Mayhew, Michael Nardone as Frisky, and Noah Jupe as Daniel Roper.
Character 7’s Stephen Garrett, who was also lead Executive Producer on the first season previously said: “The best dramas all have at their core some version of the family, and the first season of ‘THE NIGHT MANAGER’ was no exception. It’s thrilling that our riotously dysfunctional family is now, after years years apart, reunited for season two, spearheaded by the impeccable Olivia Colman. Joined by Messers Petrie, Hodge, Nardone and the global star that Noah Jupe has rightly become, it almost looks like we planned it…”
Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama, added: “Olivia Colman’s award-winning role as Angela Burr in the first series of ‘The Night Manager’ was unforgettable and we are over the moon that she is back alongside Tom Hiddleston. We have such a strong cast and with Alistair Petrie, Douglas Hodge, Michael Nardone and Noah Jupe also returning, and filming starting in London, the second series of ‘The Night Manager’ promises to provide even more drama, glamour, intrigue and suspense.”

Three Margaret Thatcher TV biopics in development

OHMYGOSSIP — Three Margaret Thatcher biopics are currently in the works.
The late politician – who was memorably portrayed by Gillian Anderson in ‘The Crown’ – is set to be the focus of three new TV dramas.
Channel 4 is making ‘Brian and Margaret’ — focusing on the relationship between journalist Brian Walden and Thatcher, who was Prime Minister from 1979 to 1990.
Mammoth Screen is also working on a show about her, while another project is said to have the backing of a “top writer”.
It is thought that both could be picked up by streamers.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “This is just the latest in a growing number of dramas with the same subject matter which are being made by TV rivals.
“Things are becoming so competitive they are making direct bids to outdo one another with essentially the same stories.
“Prime Video and Netflix have both made dramas about Prince Andrew’s car crash Newsnight interview, while the BBC and Sky are both making shows about the Lockerbie terrorist bombing.
“But never before have three biopics been in development at the same time. All three shows can’t escape being compared to one another.”
‘The Crown’s Dame Harriet Walter will take on the lead role in the Channel 4 project.

Millie Gibson’s reduced Doctor Who role

OHMYGOSSIP — Millie Gibson’s role in ‘Doctor Who’ is set to be reduced next season.
The 20-year-old actress features as Ruby Sunday, the companion to Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor but after viewers saw her bid a tearful farewell to the Doctor in Saturday’s (22.06.24) finale, it has been revealed that she will have a much smaller role in next year’s series.
A source told The Mirror: “In next year’s series there is a big standalone episode featuring Ruby reminiscing about her time with the Doctor, as a flashback.
“And then the story about her and her family members is wrapped up in the season finale. But it’s more about them than her.
“[But] the door has been left open [for her return].”
However, showrunner Russell T Davies has insisted viewers will see Ruby again, after leaving the TARDIS to spend time with her newly discovered biological mother, played by Faye McKeever.
He said: “This is a pause. I genuinely felt Ruby’s story paused there. She couldn’t get all that information about her family, all that emotional overload, and run off in the TARDIS. It pauses there. She’s coming back.”
And, while Ruby is away from the TARDIS, the Doctor will be joined by a new companion, played by Varada Sethu, 32.
Russell said: “A new companion is coming in, but you’ll see the three of them together. Three people in this TARDIS fighting evil. There are really crucial stories for Ruby to come, and her family.
“We were ordered for two years of a series off Disney and the Ruby Sunday story literally spans those two years.”

Lisa Riley struggling to cope after sudden death of Robin Windsor

OHMYGOSSIP — Lisa Riley admitted she is struggling to cope after the death of her close pal Robin Windsor.
Former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional Robin and ‘Emmerdale’ actress Lisa struck up a close friendship after being paired up on the BBC dance show in 2012 and Lisa said Robin’s shock death in February has left her devastated and struggling to work.
Lisa, 47, told The Mirror: “To then lose my best friend as well… It was like, ‘Why does God take the best?’. It’s a pain like no other.
“He was such a big part of my life. There have been days when I didn’t want to go in front of the camera. I had to paint Mandy Dingle on… put the wig and lashes on and go out there. But it’s so painful.”
Lisa has credited her ‘Emmerdale’ co-stars with helping her to cope.
She said: “All of my friends at ‘Emmerdale’ have helped me. The Dingle sisters all share a dressing room and I can’t thank those girls enough. There are six of us. And everyone in that room has been a godsend beyond words. They have given me the energy to keep filming. They have been a great therapy.”
Lisa also revealed she hopes that the death of Robin, 47, can raise awareness and support for those suffering with their mental health.
She said: “Robin struggled for a while. Mental health issues are rife within the gay community. It needs to be spoken about. We want gay men and women to know they can talk. They are not alone. They are loved, they are worthy.”
And she revealed that she wants to support mental health charity SANE, which Robin was an ambassador for, in his honour.

Eddie Murphy channelled life experiences into Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F

OHMYGOSSIP — Eddie Murphy drew on his life experiences to play Axel Foley in ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F’.
The 63-year-old star reprises his role as the detective for the first time in 30 years in the fourth movie of the action franchise and explained that audiences can expect a more mature side to the character in this picture.
Eddie is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper as saying: “Even though it’s a sequel, I’m not that 22-year-old anymore and I’ve had this whole other life and so I can act that.
“Axel at 22 and Axel at 63? He’s a whole different person with the changes that he’s made in life and his relationship with his daughter, Jane.
“That is the emotional hook that you need for these movies. For Axel to get involved, he’s got skin in the game. All that stuff is on paper first and then I go to the set and do it.”
Eddie explained that it was straightforward to get back into character on the new movie – which is being released on Netflix next month – and thinks that the flick will appeal to those who loved the old ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ films.
The ‘Coming to America’ actor said: “I don’t look at it like, ‘Oh, I’m reliving it and I have to get back into it.’
“I’ve played the character several times already, so I know him.”
Murphy added: “Axel’s not a kid anymore, it’s not his first time in Beverly Hills. At this point, he’s been there many times, has friends there and has seen the crazy stuff that’s in the city. He’s not taken by surprise.
“Anyone that saw the original ‘Beverly Hills Cop’, you’re going to love this movie. And even if you haven’t seen it, this movie stands by itself and you can jump right into it.”

Jessica Alba opted to use a knife instead of a gun for Trigger Warning kills

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Alba didn’t want her character to use a gun in ‘Trigger Warning’.
The 43-year-old actress plays Special Forces commando Parker in the Netflix action film and explained that she and director Mouly Surya made the decision to have her character use a knife in combat scenes instead.
In an interview with Collider, Jessica said: “That was a choice. 100 per cent. Both of us did. We feel like this genre is dominated these days by a lot of gun killing and gun fights and all of that.
“It kind of goes with the genre in a lot of ways, and ‘John Wick’ wins that narrative, and so we were like, ‘What is right for us? What would feel satisfying and cool to watch also?’
“Also, if Parker does need to take out an opponent, these are passionate kills, these are not nameless and faceless. These are people who have wronged her and who are trying to kill her, and what does that look like, and that dynamic?
“So we were inventive and open to her taking her opponents out in various ways, but we tried not to use a gun as much and tried to use other things.”
‘Trigger Warning’ is Jessica’s first movie role in five years and she explained that she wanted to be at the centre of a “perfect” action film.
The ‘Sin City’ star said: “I’ve always wanted to an action movie, and I always wanted to do a gritty, grounded kind of throwback action movie.
“It just took some time for us to get the script where we needed to get it and find the most perfect director, and for everything to kind of fall into place. It was in my mind that this was something I wanted to do for a really long time, but all the pieces coming together just took a hot minute.”

Amanda Abbington calls in police after death threats

OHMYGOSSIP — Amanda Abbington has been forced to call in the police after being hit with a number of death threats.
The 50-year-old ‘Sherlock’ actress has reportedly been the target of furious fans of former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional Giovanni Pernice, who she has accused of bullying behaviour, and she has even deleted her Instagram account due to the nasty messages.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Amanda has been left petrified and feeling very vulnerable in public.
“She has been worried about leaving the house to do simple errands like walking the dog or picking up groceries.
“At one point she was struggling to field the hundreds of messages from Giovanni supporters saying nasty things and threatening her safety.
“It was awful to cope with. The sheer volume was horrendous and the content was unspeakable and incredibly threatening. The police have taken the messages seriously.
“It has felt like a real public pile on and got very ugly with personal, offensive attacks.”
The BBC has launched an investigation into Giovanni, 33, following Amanda’s complaints but he has denied all wrongdoing.
There is also no suggestion that Giovanni had any knowledge of the threats made against Amanda.
Amanda previously revealed she was diagnosed with mild PTSD following her ‘Strictly’ stint.
She told The Sun on Sunday: “I just want to thank everyone who has been so kind and lovely and supportive this past week. It means a great, great deal.
“I was diagnosed with mild PTSD after Strictly for several reasons and I told a few people about that, in the utmost confidence, among other things that were happening in my life at the time both professionally and personally.
“I’m very sorry that people felt the need to send me death threats, threaten my children and bring up my past, healthy relationship with an ex-partner as an indicator of my current mental health. I wish those people well.”

Jeremy Sheffield reveals alter-ego’s tragic backstory

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Hollyoaks’ star Jeremy Sheffield has revealed his character Jeremy Blake’s tragic backstory.
Jeremy made his return to the soap this week after eight years as Patrick Blake’s brother Jeremy, aka Jez, alongside Sherrie Hewson as his mother Martha, and Jeremy revealed the trauma Jez suffered at the hands of his sibling.
He told Inside Soap magazine: “A huge event blew the brothers apart and Jez disappeared — whatever went on was so traumatic he just had to escape.
“I imagine Jez was Patrick’s first victim.”
He also revealed Jez’s strained relationship with Martha, saying: “They have a terrible, toxic relationship, but we don’t know why yet. And it’s not even clear who is the good guy and who is the bad guy.
“But this is the Blakes we’re talking about! Sherrie is fantastic, I’m not sure she’s ever played a character like this!”
It is eight years since the 58-year-old actor’s alter-ego Patrick was killed off and Patrick’s daughter Sienna was left stunned at the return, wrongly assuming her evil father was back from the dead.
Promising that there is even more drama ahead, Jeremy said: “Jez had to learn ways to survive having been under Patrick’s control, so he’s good at being a chameleon.
“He is smart, articulate and full of charm — but he may not be all he seems…”

Strictly stars banned from discussing Giovanni drama

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ stars have been banned from discussing the Giovanni Pernice drama.
The professional dancer will not be part of this year’s lineup amid allegations of “threatening and abusive behaviour” towards his former partners on the show and BBC bosses are said to have put a ban on public discussions of the controversy, due to fears it could overshadow the 20th anniversary.
One professional dancer told The Sun newspaper: “I’m not allowed to comment. We’ve been told not to talk about it until the official ‘Strictly’ statement.”
A source added: “When [the] claims first came to light no one could have foreseen the drama would still be raging so ferociously six months later.
“We’re just a few weeks away from the 2024 cast reveal and bosses are worried the scandal is now dangerously close to overshadowing the new series.
“A lot of work has gone into it as it’s the 20th anniversary, and now — still — all anyone talks about is Giovanni.
“Bosses hope gagging the cast will help.
“It will require some fancy footwork, but the cast have all been trained on how to handle questioning and politely sidestep difficult topics.”
The ban comes after show judge Shirley Ballas, 63, defended Giovanni, 33.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “He has always been to me, and I will make that clear, to me, a perfect gentleman.
“My feeling for Giovanni is, let them do this investigation or whatever it is they are doing and the truth will come out.
“I have never ever, ever experienced any ill will or bad feeling or bad sportsmanship or rudeness from him.”
Shirley admitted she can only reflect on her “own perspective”, and she refused to pass judgement until she knows “100 percent it is true”.
She said: “You know, I can only talk from my own perspective. I have known Giovanni for 10 years. I know he is a hard worker. He wants the people to do the very best that they can do.
“Obviously in my life I was bullied a lot. I don’t condone bullying on any path but also I don’t believe gossip because things get escalated and they are blown way out of all proportion and it can turn into a great big snowball.
“So we don’t judge anybody until I know absolutely 100 percent. I won’t pass on the gossip unless I know 100 percent it is true. He will be missed.”
Giovanni has denied all allegations.
