Danny Dyer confirms if EastEnders character is dead or alive as he hints at comeback

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Dyer has confirmed his ‘EastEnders’ character is dead – but hinted he could still return to the soap.
The 46-year-old actor left soap fans devastated in 2022 when he revealed he was leaving the BBC One show after nine years, and his dramatic exit saw the character get lost at sea over the 2022 festive period.
While ‘EastEnders’ fans have been wondering ever since whether Mick is dead or alive, he has finally revealed his alter-ego has met his maker.
He told Heat magazine: “Everyone is asking when I’m going back to EastEnders, which is very interesting to me.
“But he’s dead!”
However, that won’t necessarily stop Danny from making an ‘EastEnders’ return.
The ‘Football Factory’ actor admitted Mick could be back in one of his alcoholic wife Linda Carter’s (Kellie Bright) dreams, or during an hallucination, as part of the show’s 40th anniversary in February.
He said: “Look, I take it as a compliment that people want me to go back. Who knows? If there’s no closure there, then maybe I would come back for a dream sequence. I don’t think Mick could just rock up covered in seaweed!
“I think if they did it right, with the 40th anniversary coming up, if they came up with an idea of maybe Linda drunk or hallucinating, then I would come back and do some scenes with her.”
Danny admitted he would welcome a return to the soap, because he misses working with Kellie.
He said: “You know, because I do miss Kellie, and I think maybe that would stop people asking me when I’m going back!”
Since departing Albert Square, Danny has gone on to appear in ‘The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer’, and ‘Celebrity Gogglebox’, as well as land a role in British-Australian thriller ‘Heat’ and front game show ‘Scared of The Dark’.

Joseph Quinn ‘nervous’ about Gladiator sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Joseph Quinn is “nervous” about the new ‘Gladiator’ film.
The ‘Stranger Things’ actor plays Emperor Caracalla in Sir Ridley Scott’s upcoming epic historical drama film ‘Gladiator II’ and while he has not yet seen the movie, Joseph revealed it pays homage to the original.
He told Variety: “I haven’t seen a cut of it. I’ve seen little moments of footage, and it looks like everything that you could possibly want. It’s paying homage to the first film, but very much making it’s its own thing. There’s some fantastic performances in it. And I’m very much looking forward to people seeing it — if not a little nervous about it.”
Along with the ‘Gladiator’ sequel, Joseph is also set to star ‘The Fantastic Four’ as as Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch.
And, he revealed he sought advice from ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ co-star Lupita Nyong’o, about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, after she played Nakia in Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’ movies.
He explained: “She told me that it was an experience that I could very much look forward to… She told me to be open-minded and just to commit very hard.”
And, Joseph previously explained working with Lupita was one of the main reasons he signed on to the movie.
He told GQ UK: “I learned a lot working with Lupita. The way that she conducts herself, just as a human being, as well as the choices she makes as an actor really informed whatever I thought I was doing. She’s very discerning. By no means am I saying that I am, I just saw that in her. So I guess it was, at the risk of sounding a bit lofty, trying to give myself a little permission to be selective.”

Austin Butler and Jodie Comer reveal huge movie snubs

OHMYGOSSIP — Austin Butler auditioned for ‘The Hunger Games’ – but he didn’t even receive a call back.
The ‘Elvis’ actor tried out for the role of Peeta Mellark in the 2012 dystopian action movie, but he lost out to Josh Hutcherson.
He told BuzzFeed: “I auditioned for ‘The Hunger Games’ and I didn’t get it at all.
“I don’t even think I got a call back, what’s the character, Peeta? Josh Hutcherson got that, he’s great.
Butler’s ‘The Bikeriders’ co-star Jodie Comer also admitted she once missed out on a huge film franchise, when she auditioned for ‘Mamma Mia!’ around the same time she was trying out for spy thriller TV series ‘Killing Eve’, which went on to catapult her into the limelight.
Comer said: “I auditioned for ‘Mamma Mia!’ That was a time, that was also when I was auditioning for ‘Killing Eve’ as well.”
However, Butler and Comer both managed to land lead roles in crime drama movie ‘The Bikeriders’ as husband and wife Benny and Kathy Cross.
The movie – directed and written by Jeff Nichols – tells the story of Midwestern motorcycle club the Vandals, led by Tom Hardy’s character Johnny, but as the club begins to spiral out of control Benny is forced to choose between his loyalty to it, or Kathy.
Comer recently admitted she found it hard mastering a Chicago accent for the motion picture, which is based on a photo-book of the same name by Danny Lyon.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: “I would say that Kathy’s accent is probably the hardest one that I’ve done. I was given 30 minutes with the real Kathy being interviewed by Danny Lyon, and I was so struck by how singular and unique her dialect and cadence was.
“So I started working with a dialect coach, Victoria (Hanlin), and she told me, ‘All the vowel sounds are a contradiction. This is something that is entirely her own.’
“And I said, ‘I want to get as close to the audio as I possibly can.’ ”

There’s a rat in Walford what are they going to do? BBC calls pest control to 87m EastEnders set

OHMYGOSSIP — EastEnders’ £87 million set has been hit with a rat outbreak.
The BBC were forced to call pest control after the rogue rodents were spotted in the soap’s prop store, where they had been chowing down on props and making themselves at home in Albert Square.
According to The Sun newspaper, a report stated: “Attended site for call-out due to reported rat activity in the EastEnders prop store mezzanine floor.
“A thorough visual inspection was carried out showing chewed products/ nesting material.”
A source told the publication: “‘EastEnders’ has always tried to represent London and that’s become a little too true with an outbreak of rats.
“No one wants to see rodents at work and they have been causing a headache by chewing props and leaving droppings everywhere.”
But Walford’s pint-guzzling characters shouldn’t be too concerned just yet, because the gnawing nuisance-causers are yet to infiltrate the fictional boozer.
The source added: “Thankfully none have made it into the Queen Vic – yet.”
However, the BBC soap insisted there isn’t an “infestation” of the rodents running amok in Albert Square, but admitted “specialists” have been called to deal with uninvited furry guests at times.
An EastEnders spokeswoman said: “There is no rat infestation at ‘EastEnders’ but on the odd occasion, if we have suspected an unauthorised visit from a furry visitor, we have called in the specialists.”
This comes after popular ‘EastEnders’ star Lorraine Stanley bowed out of the BBC soap as Karen Taylor earlier this month.
But, ironically, she has gone on to land the role of Queen Rat in pantomime ‘Dick Whittington’ at the Kings Theatre Portsmouth this year.
She said in a statement: “Having grown up in Portsmouth, it gives me great pleasure to be playing Queen Rat at The Kings Theatre, a venue I have visited since I was a child. I am really looking forward to performing on stage in this beautiful theatre for all my friends and family and the fantastic Pompey audiences.
“I’ve heard such great things about The Pompey Panto so getting to be a part of it is going to be brilliant fun! Get your tickets and practice your Boo-ing because I guarantee this Queen Rat is going to be a real baddie.”

Jack Grealish’s rumoured fling Emma Milton ‘signed by Love Island bosses’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack Grealish’s rumoured fling Emma Milton has reportedly been signed by ‘Love Island’ bosses.
The boxing ring girl and model, 29, was linked to the Manchester City player, 28, in 2021, and is now said to be set to enter ITV’s dating show, where it’s understood she’ll spice things up as she apparently has her eyes set on 33-year-old contestant Joey Essex.
A source told The Sun: “Emma has moved in celebrity circles for years now, has a lot of friends in the industry and through showbiz parties.
“She met Jack on the Manchester party scene. She and the models for Boohoo are all based up there and are regularly out with the City and United teams.
“She has dated a number of high-profile men and the attention, like she experienced after being with Jack, doesn’t phase her.”
The insider added about Emma’s TV experience: “Emma also appeared on Channel 4 reality TV show ‘Shipwrecked’ in 2019 so has her head screwed on.”
And the source said Emma and Joey have “history” as they met in Dubai last year.
The report comes as Joey’s romance with Grace Jackson, 25, hit the rocks on ‘Love Island’ this week after his head got turned by bombshell entrant Jessy Potts, also 25.
Grace lambasted Joey for considering Jessy, for whom the reality star says he now has “true feelings”.
The castmates will soon be hit with a twist that will see two contestants given the chance to steal an islander of their choice.
Coming scenes will show Joey pull Jessy for a chat at the show’s mini-firepit, with the former ‘TOWIE’ regular telling her: “I feel like I gave you quite open.”
Jessy replies: “You gave me open. Grace gave me closed for you. But I feel like that’s between you two.
“With me and Grace, we’re close. We actually get on, there’s real feelings there, all that.
“But it would be silly to just close things off. I want to get to know you more. “That date last night was literally the best date.”
Grace then tells Joey she will refuse to wait for him, adding: “I don’t get it, are you still wanting to get to know her?
“If you are, then I don’t want to be involved.”
Love Island continues at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.

‘Long may we continue!’ Ricky Hatton gushes over girlfriend Claire Sweeney

OHMYGOSSIP — Ricky Hatton has admitted his girlfriend Claire Sweeney helped him avoid being “Billy no mates” at ‘Dancing on Ice’.
The 45-year-old former professional boxer met the ex-Brookside’ actress when the pair competed on the ITV ice-skating reality show earlier this year, and five months after they got together, the star is hoping their romance continues for a long time.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I had a good laugh on the ice. I mean, after the first day, I was scared to death but I always love a challenge.
“I got knocked out in the first round, but I was able to able to meet Claire.
“I was always a Billy no mates at these things before Claire.
“Me and Claire have been together about five months now and long may it continue.”
In May, Ricky gushed over 53-year-old Claire shortly after they returned from a holiday to Tenerife.
When asked how their romantic jaunt was, Ricky told The Sun newspaper: “It was great! Claire is like me, I’ve met someone who I get on with like a house on fire.
“She is just like me. We spend our whole time laughing together. Claire is just like me – she’s so down to earth.
“She would never turn a picture down with a fan and she’s always got time for people. That’s what I really like about her.
“We’ve just been having good fun.”
After finishing their stint on ‘Dancing on Ice’, the couple were spotted embracing in April, before enjoying a romantic date at a pub in Heaton Moor, Stockport.
An insider revealed at the time the pair had “become really close”, and said the ‘Coronation Street’ actress was planning to introduce Ricky to her family, including her nine-year-old son Jaxon, who she shares with her ex-partner Daniel Reilly.
A source told MailOnline: “Claire and Ricky have become really close. She wasn’t looking for a relationship but then Ricky came along and it just felt right and natural and she’s really happy.
“She signed up for a reality TV show and met a great guy so it feels a bit like winning the lottery, and she’s really counting her blessings as it all came from nowhere and often that’s the best way.
“She’s now really looking forward to introducing Ricky to her family and friends soon and they are really looking forward to the guy who has put a smile on Claire’s face.”

Danielle Harold picked up MasterChef cooking tips from I’m A Celebrity co-star Fred Sirieix

OHMYGOSSIP — Danielle Harold picked up some cooking tips from her ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ co-star Fred Sirieix, which helped her in ‘Celebrity MasterChef’.
The former ‘EastEnders’ actress is one of the 20 celebrities who have signed up for the new series of the star-studded BBC cooking show.
Danielle went into the kitchen to film the programme straight after jetting back to the UK from Australia, where she appeared in ‘I’m A Celebrity’ alongside ‘First Dates’ star Fred.
She is quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: “I was literally straight out of the jungle and into the frying pan.
“I was a little bit dazed arriving in the kitchen.
“I learnt from Fred don’t chuck the stock cube in the fire!
“I should have learnt more from him but I hope I have taken a few of the tips he taught me.”
During last year’s ‘I’m A Celebrity’ stint, Fred enjoyed taking over camp cooking duties – even when it wasn’t his assigned job.
However, at one stage he accidentally threw a whole stock cube – an important commodity for campmates on the ITV show, who aren’t blessed with seasoning for their food – into the fire.
Danielle will be aiming to impress ‘Celebrity MasterChef’ judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace when the sizzling series returns this summer.
Model Christine McGuinness, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ pro Vito Coppola, ‘Football Factory’ actor Tamer Hassan and reality TV star Charlotte Crosby are among the other stars confirmed for the show.
Katie Attwood, MasterChef Series Editor, said: “‘Celebrity MasterChef’ fans are in for a treat this summer – with a top line-up of celebrities and the ever-thrilling John and Gregg on judging duty.
“These stars will need to pull out all the stops this year as we’re really testing their mettle. It’s one you won’t want to miss!”

‘This genre helps us exercise emotions’: Lupita Nyong’o is constantly drawn to horror roles

OHMYGOSSIP — Lupita Nyong’o is fascinated by the “heightened nature” of the horror genre.
The 41-year-old actress plays the lead role in the new film ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ – which takes place as killer aliens target anybody making noise – and thinks that horror provides a rare opportunity for audiences to be “openly scared”.
Speaking to Variety at the movie’s New York City premiere on Wednesday (26.06.24), Lupita said: “This genre helps us exercise emotions that we are otherwise running away from a lot of the time, we don’t get permission to be openly scared in our real life.
“I found myself coming (back) again and again to horror because of the roles that have been offered to me there. There is a heightened nature to horror that makes for a really interesting character to explore.”
The new film is a spin-off prequel to the two previous ‘A Quiet Place’ pictures and Lupita explained how she was persuaded to join the cast by John Krasinski – who has handed control behind the camera to Michael Sarnoski on this installment.
The ‘Us’ actress told RadioTimes.com: “He was the first point of contact about this movie. We had a Zoom and he walked me through why he wanted to make another film in this franchise.
“And what he said to me was that he wasn’t really interested in carrying on with the franchise unless he was able to find a new way in. He’s interested in expanding what the franchise can do, but also what the genre of horror can do in and of itself.”
Nyong’o added: “So that’s why he teamed up with someone like Michael, who is a young director, you know, having done just one feature film before this.
“And I like that he was taking risks with the franchise. The first one was a risk, you know, pitching that story could not have been easy. And he did such a wonderful job with it and with the second one, and so I liked his outlook, his mission.”

Two Love Island stars to be axed in ‘savage’ dumping

OHMYGOSSIP — Two ‘Love Island’ stars are to be axed from the villa in Friday night’s episode (28.06.24).
The Islanders are said to already be on the flight home following the “really savage” dumping, which is expected to come as a “real shock” for fans and was a surprise to the pair’s fellow Islanders on the ITV2 dating show.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “It was really savage and nobody was happy at all.
“There were tears and some of the cast were furious. It’ll be a real shock to fans.”
On Thursday night’s episode (27.06.24), viewers were told there was a public vote to determine their “favourite couple”, and those at the bottom of the pile would be at risk.
However, former ‘TOWIE’ star Joey Essex is not in danger of departing the show – which is hosted by Maya Jama – on Friday night, because he is in a new couple with recent bombshell Jessy Potts.
And Jess White and new bombshell Trey Norman are also immune from a villa exit on Friday night, due to Trey being one of the latest arrivals.
There looks set to be plenty of new arrivals to come on the programme, as it’s heavily rumoured that Casa Amor will begin on Sunday (30.06.24).
Earlier on Thursday night’s episode, there was plenty of drama as Jessy stole Joey, and the pair then headed off to the terrace, where they sat on the floor to avoid being spotted by his ex Grace Jackson.
Joey and Jessy then indulged in a sneaky smooch.
If that wasn’t enough, US rapper and singer Eve provided some live entertainment in the villa on Thursday by performing hits including ‘Who’s That Girl?’, much to the delight of the Islanders.

Sarah Ferguson has turned down ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ hundreds of times

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Ferguson has turned down offers to compete on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ “hundreds of times”.
The Duchess of York, 64, said even though she refused to do the ITV jungle show, she has been in talks with her agent to land her a role on Netflix’s steamy period drama ‘Bridgerton’.
Mother-of-two Sarah told Platinum Magazine: “I’ve asked my agent to get me on ‘Bridgerton’! The set designs are incredible!
“I could be a long-lost friend for Penelope (Featherington – played by Nicola Coughlan.) I just have to be on Bridgerton!
“I’ve been asked to go on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ hundreds of times, and the answer is always no. I’m sure it’s lovely for lots of people but not for me!”
There has been royal precedent for appearing on ‘IAC’, as Princess Anne’s son-in-law Mike Tindall, 45, competed in the 2022 series.
Sarah also opened up in her new magazine chat about being diagnosed with skin cancer this year after facing breast cancer last summer.
She said about being supported by her loved ones throughout her health woes: “The whole York family has rallied round and I couldn’t have got through it without them.
“My girls in particular have been rock solid in their support. We always call ourselves ‘The Tripod’ as we are there to prop each other up through thick and thin, and they have certainly demonstrated that in recent months.”
Sarah, who has daughters Princess Eugenie, 34, and Princess Beatrice, 35, with her ex-husband Prince Andrew, 64, added her skin cancer diagnosis was making her focus on every change in her body.
She said: “I look at every bit of skin and think, ‘Ah! Is that melanoma? Is that something?’
“Then you book an appointment to see the dermatologist and by the time you get there, it’s gone.”
Her interview came after Sarah declared she is “so proud” of King Charles, 75, and Catherine, Princess of Wales, 42, for opening up about their battles with cancer.

Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury ‘in talks for Prime Video show’

OHMYGOSSIP — Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury are in talks for their own reality TV show on Amazon Prime Video.
The former ‘Love Island’ winners have appeared on Netflix show ‘At Home With The Furys’, which mainly focused on Tommy’s boxer brother Tyson Fury and his wife Paris Fury, but they could be set to make the move to Prime Video.
A TV source told MailOnline: “Molly-Mae and Tommy are in talks to star in their own reality series with Prime Video.
“Over the years, they have had multiple streaming platforms approach them to do a fly on the wall show, their lives and careers are so interesting and their fanbase would love a closer look into everything that goes on behind the scenes.”
While it is yet to be a done deal, if such an agreement does come to fruition it’s thought filming could start as early as this summer, and continue up until Molly-Mae and Tommy, both 25, get married.
The source added: “The deal is yet to be signed on the dotted line but if it is, they hope to begin filming with the family in July and continue right up until they get married.
“Their wedding is going to be a big event and a moment they want to share with viewers but on their own terms.
“Molly is fiercely business minded and she knows television is the perfect way to open her following up to a new audience and show any of her doubters she is the real deal.”
It comes after Molly-Mae admitted she and Tommy aren’t planning to have another baby “anytime soon”, because they want to get married first.
When asked this month by a fan on Instagram if “baby number two” could be on the cards, she replied: “Not anytime soon … wedding first”
Boxer Tommy popped the question to Molly-Mae last summer, but she has now admitted their nuptials don’t look like happening until next year.
Quizzed on whether her wedding will be in 2025, she wrote: “[Crying face emoji] It’s looking that way.”

Bette Midler confirms talks for Hocus Pocus 3

OHMYGOSSIP — Bette Midler has revealed that talks have taken place regarding ‘Hocus Pocus 3’.
The 78-year-old star reprised her role as witch Winifred ‘Winnie’ Sanderson in the successful fantasy comedy sequel in 2022 and explained that gentle conversations have been held about a third flick.
Bette told SiriusXM’s ‘The Jess Cagle Show’: “Now, they’re kind of talking about a third, very gingerly and very gently.
“They are. They’re talking about a third. The second one was a huge success.”
Bette – who leads the cast alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as the Sanderson sisters – says her alter ego is “probably the least like me of any character” that she has played during an acting career that has spanned more than half a century.
The ‘Stepford Wives’ star said: “She is the closest thing I will ever get to Shakespeare. She’s from the era, from the time of Shakespeare.
“She really does put it on, and yet she has all the great things you love in a great villain. She’s vicious, she’s hilarious, she’s ridiculous-looking, and she doesn’t know any of that. It goes completely over her head.”
Screenwriter Jen D’Angelo revealed last year that the picture is still in the story development phase following the conclusion of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike.
She told Entertainment Weekly: “We’re still in the story phase, we’re still working on it.
“We’ve been working on some ideas. It’s been fun to dive back into that world and we have so many directions in which to go and so many new characters to explore.
“We’ve only scratched the surface of Hannah Waddingham’s Mother Witch.”

Sandi Toksvig found hosting ‘Great British Bake Off’ so boring she sunk into depression

OHMYGOSSIP — Sandi Toksvig found hosting ‘The Great British Bake Off’ so boring she sunk into depression.
The comedian and broadcaster, 66, first joined the popular baking show when it moved from the BBC to Channel 4 in 2017, but stepped down after three series in 2020 – saying at the time she was quitting to “spend more time with my other work”.
But she has now told the ‘Stirring it Up’ podcast about how she really left for the sake of her mental health as she found it so dull to film: “It was the biggest pay cheque of my life… no disrespect to people who like to cook, but watching meringue dry and being told how many different kinds there are?
“I honestly thought I was going out of my mind.
“I would ring (my wife) Deb and go, ‘I’m going crazy, I am going crazy’, because a five-hour bake, which is 20 minutes on the telly – it’s five hours long.
“I was just getting depressed. But it’s about integrity. If you have that then you can sleep.
“If you have integrity and you think, ‘I’m doing a good thing for other people, I’m being good to my friends, my family,’ that’s fine.
“There’s no money in the world that can then take that from you.”
Sandi was joined by her partner Debbie on the show, who said the host became “much more visible” in the press after signing up for the show which also made it “very stressful”.
Psychotherapist Debbie added: “Mental health is way more important than how much money you earn.”
Sandi also told the Radio Times earlier this year about her pain over ‘Bake Off’:
“I was literally standing there watching meringues dry and thinking, ‘Oh my god, my brain is atrophying’.”
Sandi continues to present the BBC quiz show ‘QI’ but her latest project is more ambitious.
She is now producing a digital ‘Mappa Mundi’ documenting women’s achievements and struggles around the world.
The project is being conducted alongside the University of Cambridge and is set to counter a lack of information about women on Wikipedia.
