Steven Soderbergh has taken filmmaking inspiration from Taylor Swift

OHMYGOSSIP — Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming film has been inspired by Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour.
The 61-year-old director is “fascinated” by the success of the pop mega star and explained that the record-breaking concerts have influenced a new movie that he is in the early stages of developing.
Speaking to Variety at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, Steven said: “I have been thinking about a project in which I analyse large scale, cooperative endeavours that work. Airports. Why do airports work? Or AA?
“You look at the Taylor Swift concert, at this whole tour and it works. So why can’t we figure out Syria or any other conflict?
“Humour is a great delivery system for an idea and nothing lights up the brain like music, so this project better be funny and there should be some musical component as a way to open people up. I want you to come out on the other side after you see it, and feel different.”
The ‘Magic Mike’ director is astonished by the way in which the ‘Blank Space’ hitmaker has captured the world’s imagination.
He said: “People laugh that there is a college class being taught about her and I go, ‘There should be’.
“What she is doing, the way she is doing it… Nobody has ever done this before. The amount of control she has taken over. She is relentless.”
Soderbergh’s new picture ‘Black Bag’ features a cast including Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender and the director explained the complexities of shooting a lengthy scene at a dinner table.
He said: “It’s a very specific take on people who also have complex personal lives. It was terrifying, because there is a 12-page dinner sequence and nobody even moves from their seats. That kept me up.”

Kevin Costner not concerned by Horizon’s box office failure

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Costner won’t judge the success of ‘Horizon’ on box office figures.
The 69-year-old star has self-financed the epic Western saga – in which he both directs and acts in – but isn’t disheartened by ‘Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1’ failing to make an impact in its opening weekend in cinemas as long as his four-film vision is realised.
Kevin told Entertainment Weekly: “I’ve lived with movies and what happens to them on their opening weekend. If we put so much pressure on that, we’re bound to be disappointed.”
The ‘Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves’ actor added: “I’m really happy that ‘Horizon’ looks like what it’s supposed to look like, and that’s the way it’ll look the rest of its life. And that’s really important to me in this process.
“Would I love that it would be highly, highly successful? Of course, I’d like that. My ego would like that; everyone would like that. But I am happiest that the movie that you and I are talking about looks the way I want it to look.”
The second ‘Horizon’ film will be released in August and Costner was determined to get both pictures released in the cinema.
He told IndieWire: “That’s where I belong.
“And I also felt that I have to look at things from a monetary standpoint, because I have so much invested, that I didn’t want to throw that window away. But artistically, I thought it should be on the big screen.”
Despite the initial box office disappointment, Kevin is pushing on with his plans to make a quartet of movies.
He said: “People are going to just keep coming, and the story is going to keep coming, and it’s going to expand.”

Steve McQueen’s Blitz to open BFI London Film Festival

OHMYGOSSIP — Steve McQueen’s World War II drama ‘Blitz’ will open the 2024 BFI London Film Festival.
The 54-year-old filmmaker has written and directed the new picture that features Saoirse Ronan, Harris Dickinson and newcomer Elliott Heffernan.
Stephen Graham and musician Paul Weller – making his acting debut – are also attached to star.
The film follows the epic journey of George (Heffernan), a nine-year-old boy in World War II London whose mother Rita (Ronan) sends him to the safety of the English countryside.
A synopsis reads: “George, defiant and determined to return home to Rita and his grandfather (Weller) in East London, ensues on an adventure, only to find himself in immense peril, while a distraught Rita searches for her missing son.”
It is the first solo screenwriting credit for the ’12 Years a Slave’ director.
The premiere will be held on October 9 at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall and is to be screened as a world premiere.
McQueen said: “‘Blitz’ is a movie about Londoners. It honours the spirit of what and how Londoners endured during the blitz, but also explores the true representation of people in London, while at its core is the story of a working-class family desperate to be reunited during times of war.
“I could not be more thrilled that the BFI London Film Festival has invited us to open this year’s festival, and to celebrate the world premiere of ‘Blitz’ in my hometown.”
Kristy Matheson, BFI London Film Festival Director, said: “‘Blitz’ is a film of incredible scale. Steve McQueen infuses the film with nuance at every turn; the depth of character and texture of the city are all peerless and make this subject feel completely new.
“It’s an astounding production that will leave audiences in awe of the director, his cast, and creative collaborators. We are honoured to share this film with audiences in London and across the UK and can think of no better way to open the 2024 BFI London Film Festival.”

‘The journey in the car to the airport was horrendous…’ Andrew Lincoln got homesick on The Walking Dead

OHMYGOSSIP — Andrew Lincoln got homesick when he was making ‘The Walking Dead’.
The 50-year-old actor played Rick Grimes in the hit post-apocalyptic horror drama for several years but he always missed life in his native Britain.
Andrew praised his wife Gael Anderson – with whom he has two children Matilda and Arthur – for always supporting his career and joining him Stateside.
In an interview with Radio Times, he said: “Every time, the journey in the car to the airport was horrendous. I was already homesick.
“I would view with dread the prospect of being away for eight months of filming. We were fortunate that my wife is such an extraordinary woman and was able to up sticks and build a life anywhere. I just didn’t want to be the Brit abroad.”
Andrew – who appeared in seasons 1–9, returning as a special guest star in Season 11 – is set to reprise his role in the upcoming spin-off show ‘The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live’, which follows the battle-scarred Rick and his lover Michonne (Danai Gurira) as they try to survive the zombie-infested world.
The actor explained he wanted to pick up their story that was left “unfinished”.
When asked why he was returning to the series, he said: “Because people would stop me in the street and go, ‘Where’s Rick?’ There was an unfinished story. And I was talked into it by Danai and Scott [M. Gimple, one of the series producers]. But I didn’t want it to feel like a spin-off.
“I wanted to complete a story that we left unfinished. It was about reuniting two lovers and seeing if their love could survive time and distance apart.”
Andrew added the upcoming series gave them “an opportunity to tell a bigger story”.
He said: “‘The Walking Dead’ characters have been scrabbling around in the dirt for years. What if we tell a more operatic story of what the grown-ups have been up to in the apocalypse – rebuilding society? What if there was a viable restart going on?
“It’s a really interesting question because it occupied my life for so long, and because it was an unfinished symphony, to a degree.
“I needed to complete it. That’s why this is such an important, momentous full-stop – with a bow on top – to that story.”

Girls Aloud to star in one-off ITV documentary about reunion tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Girls Aloud are reportedly working on a one-off TV special which will document their reunion tour.
Members Kimberley Walsh, 42, Cheryl, 41, Nadine Coyle, 39, and Nicola Roberts, 38, have just completed ‘The Girls Aloud Show’ dates, which was their first tour as a quartet without late bandmate Sarah Harding, who passed away at the age of 39 in September 2021.
The ‘Biology’ hitmakers were followed by a camera crew for the tour who captured the most magical moments on stage as well as what went on behind-the-scenes and that footage will be used to create a documentary for ITV.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “There’s a number of options on the table as to how ITV could deliver the final piece.
“Backstage footage has been captured but bosses feel there’s equal value in presenting the show in its entirety as one glossy set piece.”
Girls Aloud – who were formed in 2002 on TV talent show ‘Popstars: The Rivals’ – want the final programme to honour the memory of Sarah, who was the inspiration behind the reunion tour.
The source added: “Honouring their legacy and remembering Sarah is so important. However the finished product ends up, it will be a gorgeous piece of TV.”
After their reunion tour came to a close, Nicola paid tribute to her late bandmate, and emphasised Sarah was “very involved in the show”.
She said: “That was the priority from the get-go. We planned those moments carefully … everybody adding what they wanted to see of Sarah, and what we thought the fans would want to see, keeping all of her parts in there, but finding the balance, thinking about how her family would see the show, and her friends, and what she would like to have been seen of herself.
“There was a lot of thought and discussion. I think we got it right … the DMs are full of people saying we did Sarah proud. It’s very rewarding to know that we did our friend proud.”

‘It’s always sad when a relationship breaks up…’ Carol McGiffin says Ruth Langsford’s split from Eamonn Holmes must be ‘really hard’

OHMYGOSSIP — Carol McGiffin has opened up on Ruth Langsford’s split from husband Eamonn Holmes admitting it must have been “really hard”.
The TV power couple made headlines in May after announcing that their nearly 14-year-long marriage was over, and now Ruth’s former ‘Loose Women’ co-panellist has offered her sympathy to the pair as any separation in the public eye is tough.
In an interview with OK! magazine, Carol said: “It’s always sad when a relationship breaks up, but it’s sadder when you’re so in the public eye. It’s really hard.
“Everyone’s speculating, everyone has a theory. I’d put everything I own on the fact that a lot of it is b*******.
“I feel for them both in that respect. I love them both, I’ve worked with them both, been at parties with them both.”
Carol – who experienced her own public break-up when her marriage to TV star Chris Evans ended in 1993, with their divorce finalised in 1998 – hasn’t “reached out” to Ruth yet, but she doesn’t think the former ‘This Morning’ host would want to hear from her right now.
She said: “I’ll send her a message when I know what’s really going on, not before. Otherwise, you’re just adding to the noise.”
Carol appeared on ‘Loose Women’ for 23 years, though left the ITV programme last year after finding she didn’t “fit in there anymore”.
The 64-year-old presenter misses appearing on the show, despite being happy with her decision to step down from the panel due to her feeling as though her views were being policed.
She said: “It was once a great job. It doesn’t really have many alternative opinions now. And I do watch it occasionally to remind myself that I made the right decision.
“I don’t regret leaving – I don’t fit in there anymore.
“Someone, somewhere will be offended by absolutely everything. I’d rather not be on a show that panders to that.
“It’s boring – and I won’t be told what I can or can’t say.”
Despite having problems with the show, Carol stressed she was “still very good friends with a lot of the Loose ladies”.
She said: “Denise Welch popped down here with Lincoln [Townley, her husband] last year and we met them for lunch.
“I’ve seen Kaye [Adams], Jane [Moore] and Nadia [Sawalha] a few times.”

‘To be creative, you’ve got to feel free,’ David Walliams helped inspire Adele

OHMYGOSSIP — David Walliams helped Adele overcome writer’s block.
The former ‘Little Britain’ star used to be a neighbour of the 36-year-old music megastar when they both lived in Hove, East Essex, South East England, and David would “see quite a lot of her”.
The 52-year-old comedian-and-writer once imparted his words of wisdom about the creative process when Adele confessed she was struggling to write new songs.
In an interview with Australian newspaper The Age, David said: “She came over for dinner and was saying how difficult it was to write her new album. I said to her, ‘The problem you’ve got is that you are against yourself, because you are trying to write ‘Someone Like You’ every time you write a new song.’ To be creative, you’ve got to feel free.”
Back in January, Adele confirmed plans to embark on another world tour after the release of her next studio album, but it is unlikely to be anytime soon.
Her last LP ’30’ was released in 2021 and won British Album of the Year at the 2022 BRIT Awards.
The ‘Rolling in the Deep’ singer is currently performing her ‘Weekends with Adele’ residency show in Las Vegas and once that wraps in November she will turn her attention to new music in 2025.
She said: “I just don’t think I’m gonna write an album for quite some time. But next time I do, I’ll come to wherever it is you live.”

Scarlett Moffatt celebrates son Jude’s first birthday by going on a family trip to Disneyland Paris

OHMYGOSSIP — Scarlett Moffatt took her son to Disneyland Paris to celebrate his first birthday.
The former ‘Gogglebox’ star, 33, whisked away Jude – who she shares with her fiancé Scott Dobinson, 35 – to the famed theme park to celebrate her son’s big day, and described her stay as “like being in a dream”.
She said: “Jude is our little miracle baby, and I didn’t know if I would ever get to experience the feeling of this magic as a family.”
The visit also holds special significance for the couple, as the resort was the first vacation the pair went on together.
She explained: “Disneyland Paris was mine and Scott’s first holiday together, and we talked about how amazing it would be to return as a family. It feels so special to come back to celebrate our baby boy Jude’s first birthday.”
As well as celebrating Jude’s birthday, Scarlett added the holiday served as an important way for the family to relax and spend valuable time with one another.
She explained: “Life is busy, and I always remind myself we work to live, not live to work.
“It’s nice to have a few relaxing days with the family, focused on having fun and not worrying about everything else.
“For me, moments like seeing my little boy see Sleeping Beauty’s Castle for the first time make all the nights when I’m in London away from home and can’t say night-night to Jude worth it.
“So as soon as I put my Minnie ears on, that was it. Out of office email on, time to relax, not set an alarm, and simply have fun!”
The ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!’ winner revealed one of her most memorable moments from the trip was seeing her son’s face light up when he met Jessie from the ‘Toy Story’ franchise at Worlds of Pixar.
She said: “Jude loves ‘Toy Story’ music and had his little ‘Toy Story’ T-shirt on, so when we met Jessie and she made such a fuss of Jude, it was lovely. He kept giggling. I’m going to get that picture printed and put it up in his nursery.
“Seeing Jude’s face light up seeing the characters, I can’t even put into words how happy that makes my heart.”
Scarlett also gushed about her stay at the Disneyland Hotel – which reopened in January 2024 following a complete reimagination – describing it as a “magical” place.
She said: “Disneyland Hotel is always one of my favourite places to stay. Not just because of how comfy the beds are but because it feels magical.
“The staff always go above and beyond. I didn’t think the hotel could get any better but walking into the newly reimagined hotel for the first time – it certainly has the wow factor. The Disney castle crystal chandelier in the hotel lobby when you walk in is just spectacular.”

Gemma Collins has ‘such a bond’ with her stepson

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins has “such a bond” with her stepson.
The 43-year-old reality TV star became a stepmother to her 49-year-old fiancé Rami Hawash’s son Tristan, six, after they rekindled their romance three years ago, and she has now opened up about the special connection the pair share.
Speaking to New! magazine, she said: “Tristan has been in my life since he was three, and he’s nearly seven now. Since day one, it’s been so easy to love him.
“We’ve got such a bond, like he’s my [biological] child anyway.”
Gemma got engaged to Rami for the second time in 2021, and the couple are eyeing a date in 2026 to tie the knot because it’s the year the groom-to-be will turn 50.
Looking ahead to the nuptials, the former ‘TOWIE’ star revealed she wants to say “I do” in an “earthy” setting.
She said: “If I get married, I’ll get married in the woods. I want it to be earthy.”
In her public life, the former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ contestant is best-known by her nickname ‘The GC’, though insisted the persona is simply a brand and not reflective of who Gemma the real person is.
She explained: “The GC is very much the business, and there’s a whole series of events that happen before she appears – there’s make-up, the big hair, the whole performance. People call me GC and I’m like, ‘My name’s Gemma, not The GC.’
“As Gemma, I’m all about my garden, growing my vegetables, [and] walking the dog. I’m a very homely, earthy person.”

Hayley Palmer having counselling after shock split from The Chase’s Mark Labbett

OHMYGOSSIP — Hayley Palmer has been having counselling following her shock split from ‘The Chase’ star Mark Labbett.
The 42-year-old TV presenter was left “heartbroken” after Mark, 59, ended their year-long relationship in a brief three-minute phone call, leaving her utterly blindsided.
Mark initially reassured Hayley that he would finalise his divorce from wife Katie, 32, who he split from in 2020, but ultimately changed his mind and decided he didn’t want to legally separate from the mother of his son.
Speaking on the My Dirty Laundry podcast, Hayley said: “The way he did it, his voice still haunts me to this day. I’m having counselling because someone told me, ‘What you’ve had is betrayal trauma.’
“They said, ‘Have you been having flashbacks and nightmares and anxiety?’ I said, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, that’s what I get’. It’s just the shock to your body of it completely coming out of the blue.”
Hayley admitted she “doesn’t know what happened” as they had just celebrated their first anniversary on May 16 with a trip to the beach in Southsea.
She added: “He called me and said, “How are you? Are you on GB News this Saturday?” I was like, “Yeah, I’m booked to go on, can’t wait”… I was telling him everything.
“And then he said, ‘Right, this is not gonna be easy to tell you, but you were right. I don’t want to get a divorce’.”
After being abruptly dumped, Hayley said she put the phone down and blocked Mark on everything and has had no contact with him since.
Hayley explained how she felt like there were no warning signs to pre-empt his decision and the whole situation has left her feeling bereft of confidence.
She said: “I wish we could have just sat down and just said, ‘Look, this is the situation. Can we make it work? Okay, let’s stick together. Let’s put a statement out together.’
“‘Because it all happened and I felt completely alone. I felt really scared. I am a positive person but I couldn’t get out of bed because I felt so low.
“I thought counselling would be a weak thing to do, and it would be embarrassing. But it really helps me to know that others have gone through the same thing.
“And that I’m not alone and OK to have nightmares, it’s what happens.
“This was real love and I poured all my love into him. I put him on a pedestal – but now I’ve got to pour that love into myself instead.”

Now You See Me 3 gets major update with 2025 release date

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Now You See Me 3’ will be released in late 2025.
The long awaited sequel – which will see Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, and Morgan Freeman reprise their roles – is finally set to be pulled out of the hat and onto the big screen, 11 years after the first film and eight years after the follow-up.
After plenty of speculation and anticipation, Lionsgate has confirmed the movie will be released on November 14, 2025.
At the moment, there no further films slated to launch on that date.
Plot details are being kept closely guarded, bit the magician heist franchise will be back with the Four Horsemen – J. Daniel Atlas (Eisenberg), Merritt McKinney (Harrelson), Henley Reeves (Fisher) and Jack Wilder (Franco) – all returning.
New cast members for the movie include Justice Smith, Rosamund Pike, Dominic Sessa and Ariana Greenblatt.
The film is being directed by ‘Venom’ filmmaker Ruben Fleischer, who will work from a script written by Eric Warren Singer, Seth Grahame-Smith and Mike Lesslie.
Lionsgate president Nathan Kahane previously said of the writing team: “Eric has always been fascinated with the fine art of deception and illusion in all of its forms and he came to us with a great story that takes the mythology of ‘Now You See Me’ and pushes The Four Horsemen to a whole new level with our key returning cast and new characters.
“The ‘Now You See Me’ franchise has been built on keeping the audience surprised and guessing.
“Any great magician knows, you can’t keep doing the same tricks. And Eric and his team of illusionists have something special up their sleeve for this new film.”
The first ‘Now You See Me’ movie was directed by Louis Leterrier and was released in 2013, with a John M. Chu-directed sequel following three years later.

Deadpool 3 could have been a low-budget road trip comedy

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Reynolds has revealed the third ‘Deadpool’ movie nearly became a budget road trip comedy.
Several ideas were touted, including a movie of Ryan’s titular superhuman, the alter ego of Wade Wilson, and his taxi driver Dopinder (Karan Soni), and the antics they get up to, but they ultimately decided to do the ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ movie.
The 47-year-old actor told Entertainment Weekly: “Literally, it was a $5 or $6 million budget with no special effects.
“It was just a talkie-talkie road trip with me and [Karan Soni’s character] Dopinder and some of the things we collected and saw along the way. It wasn’t meant to be an event movie. If we’re on our way to Point C, it was meant to just get us to Point B. That was the weirdest one. I liked it. I thought it was kind of fun.”
When Fox was merging with Disney, the ‘Proposal’ star doubted he would ever reprise his role and star in another Marvel movie after 2016’s ‘Deadpool’ and the 2018 follow-up ‘Deadpool 2’.
He told the outlet: “I didn’t know if I’d ever be playing Deadpool again.
“It’s not something I would’ve said necessarily publicly, but I didn’t know how a character like that would fit into that world [of the MCU].”
Ryan recently insisted he wouldn’t have made ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ without Shawn Levy.
After he worked with the 55-year-old filmmaker on ‘Free Guy’ (2021) and ’The Adam Project’ (2022), he decided he would only work on the third flick – which also stars 55-year-old Hugh Jackman as the iconic mutant superhero – if Shawn was behind the camera.
Speaking to Deadline, the director said: “Hugh, in like 2011, Hugh said, ‘You know, if you ever meet Ryan Reynolds and work with him, you’re never going to stop.’ He said that over a decade ago.
“And it took several years before I met Ryan, but the first time we met to talk about ‘Free Guy’, it was clear that we’d both had successful careers, but we were meeting in the right moment.
“We’re old enough to know a really good thing when we stumble into it and not let go.
“And ‘Free Guy’ led into ‘The Adam Project’. It was on the set of ‘Adam Project’ that Ryan told me he only wanted to do ‘Deadpool’ 3 if I directed it.
“And I remember him going, ‘I know, I know, you’re going to say no’, and I’m like, ’I’m not gonna say no. I’m definitely saying yes!’”

EastEnders to air spiking storyline amid rise in cases in the UK

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘EastEnders’ is set to air a storyline about the “dangerous realities of spiking”.
Anna Knight, who is played by Molly Rainford, is set to be left shaken after having her drink spiked without her consent at Peggy’s wine bar in Walford – which can leave victims with serious physical and mental health effects.
It comes amid an “alarming” rise in cases across the UK.
The long-running BBC One soap has teamed up with the charities Stamp Out Spiking and WithYou to ensure the story is told “accurately and as sensitively as possible”.
Executive producer Chris Clenshaw said: “With incidents of spiking rising at alarming rates across the UK in recent years, we chose to explore this issue with Anna Knight who represents the demographic most affected by spiking.
“It was imperative for us to work alongside organisations to accurately present, and sensitively portray this storyline.
“Molly’s performance has thoughtfully demonstrated the dangerous realities of spiking, as we look to raise awareness of the warning signs and symptoms to look out for after an individual has been spiked.”
Dawn Dines, CEO and founder at Stamp Out Spiking, added: “EastEnders is a wonderful vehicle to drive the safeguarding message.
“With its huge popularity amongst a wide range of the public, it will help inspire conversations to help protect men and women being targeted.
“Education is key to preventing these incidents. Stamp Out Spiking are delighted to have taken part in bringing the essential storyline to the screen.”
As well as the main story, which will air on July 16, viewers will be invited to watch a five-part mini-series on TikTok expanding on the issues raised, which will be accessible via a QR code at the end of the show.
Anna recently became the victim of a crime after her bag was snatched by a thug.

Netflix ‘in big money talks with Baby Reindeer creator’ to make more shows

OHMYGOSSIP — Netflix is reportedly making ‘Baby Reindeer’ creator Richard Gadd a huge offer to make “a string of shows”.
The streaming platform is said to be keen to work with the 35-year-old star on more projects, and in an ideal would they’d have him working on a new series “as soon as possible”.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “This is not a done deal, with both the streamer and Richard negotiating the details of a contract which would see him start work on a new show as soon as possible.
“The fact that it could end up being worth seven figures reflects just how much Netflix want to keep him ‘in house’ following the incredible response to ‘Baby Reindeer’.
“They are hoping they can come to an agreement that will see Richard produce a string of shows for them, which could prove just as successful and thought-provoking.”
‘Baby Reindeer’ follows struggling comedian and barman Donny as he was stalked by Martha in a dramatised version of Richard’s own real-life ordeal, in which a woman allegedly stalked the comedian.
Since the seven-part series aired, Scottish lawyer Fiona Harvey has come forward as the “real-life Martha”, and threatened legal action against Netflix.
She has since brought a legal complaint against the streamer for $170 million (£132m) for alleged defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, and violations of her right of publicity.
The lawsuit reads: “The lies that Defendants told about Harvey to over 50 million people worldwide include that Harvey is a twice-convicted stalker who was sentenced to five years in prison, and that Harvey sexually assaulted Gadd.
“Defendants told these lies, and never stopped, because it was a better story than the truth, and better stories made money.”
The complaint continues: “As a result of Defendants’ lies, malfeasance and utterly reckless misconduct, Harvey’s life had been ruined. Simply, Netflix and Gadd destroyed her reputation, her character and her life.”
A spokesperson for Netflix previously commented: “We intend to defend this matter vigorously and to stand by Richard Gadd’s right to tell his story.”

Alan Carr blames ‘masculine’ football manager dad for him being so camp

OHMYGOSSIP — Alan Carr thinks his football manager dad is to blame for him being so camp.
The 48-year-old comedian has joked that “evolution” means he was bound to be gay because of his father Graham Carr’s time as a player and head coach for Northampton Town.
He told the ‘Getting Curious’ podcast: “My dad was a football manager.
“You know what they say about gays, the evolution, if you have a really masculine dad they have a gay son. I do know a lot of gay men whose dads are.
“I high kick out of my mum’s vagina, there’s been like a mix-up at the hospital and there’s some hairdresser looking at his son playing rugby going, ‘What’s happened?’ ”
The ‘Changing Ends’ actor – who wrote and starred in the autobiographical sitcom about his childhood – also hit out at people branding him a “stereotype” because of his campness.
He argued: “The thing is with camp, if I put it on then have a go at me.
“On the outside I am probably a stereotype but my brain’s not, if it was everyone would have a podcast or a hit chat show.
“If it was easy to be me, everyone would be doing it.”
Alan admitted life as a comedian can be “quite lonely” as he travels up and down the country with “no one to talk to” on the road.
During an episode of his ‘Life’s A Beach’ podcast, he said: “I tell you what with stand-up comedy, and I just finished a tour, I was walking around all by myself as I always do and I thought you either speak to yourself or speak to an audience.
“And that’s the weirdness – you’re either going, ‘Oh, this is a nice day’, or you’re speaking to a theatre of 1,500 people.
“The problem is you’ve got nowhere in between. You don’t have any company. So that, I think, is my problem.”

Ainsley Harriott says being a ‘national treasure’ led to his marriage breakdown

OHMYGOSSIP — Ainsley Harriott believes being a “national treasure” cost him his marriage.
The TV chef, 67, split from his wife Clare Fellows in 2012 after 23 years of marriage, and now the ‘Ready Steady Cook’ star has cited his position in the public eye as a reason for the relationship’s collapse.
When Rylan Clark asked him how he dealt with his status as a “national treasure” on his ‘How to Be in the Spotlight’ podcast, Ainsley said: “It’s other people who put you in that category, you don’t put yourself in there. You’re not someone who brings negativity, you’re someone who brings a smile.
“Most of the time people approach me, even if they bash their supermarket trolley into me, it’s always a lovely moment, been doing it for years. They still bring a tomato and a pepper, ‘what you going to do with this?’. I smile, I have a little moment with them.
“I think it’s difficult for partners. It was certainly difficult for my ex and I think that probably contributed to our break-up because you are sharing the person that you love all the time and that is hard.
“A lot of people in the industry have been there and you feel divided because there are two of you but ultimately there is only one.”
The TV star admitted it was hard to remain in the spotlight and maintain his upbeat persona on shows like ‘Ainsley Harriott’s Street Food’ while he was dealing with the fallout of his failed marriage.
He explained: ”Because I was so natural if I felt a little bit down they [the public] could see it, they could feel it. But at the same time, I was doing a programme that required you to be energetic and stuff like that.
“It doesn’t affect how you perform necessarily but it lives with you and it’s when you come off stage, and how you deal with it. I have never been a druggie. I have never been a heavy boozer. I did some sport, a bit of tennis.
“I had support without thinking I had support. Mates would pop round and have a chat or I would go over for a meal. It was just having some company.”
