Lewis Hamilton told F1 cast if they did something that wouldn’t happen in real racing world

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Lewis Hamilton helped to steer the Brad Pitt-starring ‘F1′ movie – and wasn’t afraid to tell the cast if something they did “wouldn’t happen” in the real racing world.
Actor Damson Idris had to step behind the wheel of a real-life F1 car for the upcoming movie, in which he plays Sonny Hayes’ (Brad Pitt) rookie teammate Joshua Pearce, and he was thankful to have the champion racing driver on board.
Speaking at the IWC Schaffhausen Pre Silverstone British Grand Prix Event ahead of Hamilton winning his first British Grand Prix in two years on Sunday (07.07.24), he said of the flick: “It’s unlike anyone has ever seen before, we are driving the cars for real.”
Damson said of Mercedes star Lewis’ role as producer: “He lets us know that wouldn’t happen, which is a rarity in this art form. Like I said, it’s a fictional story, so to have someone who lives, breathes and sleeps F1, we are in no better hands.”
He continued: “There’s no better person to teach you about Formula 1 than Lewis Hamilton. To have someone who lives breathes and sleeps Formula 1, we’re in no better hands.
“When I think of Lewis I think of inspiring. It doesn’t matter what art form you’re involved in; you’ll always take a bit of Lewis and apply it to your life.”
The Apple Original flick is being directed by ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ filmmaker Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckeheimer.
Damson teased: “This movie is unlike anything I’ve ever done before; they put me behind the wheel. I had some driving experience, I’ve driven fast cars before, but it’s unlike anything what we are doing right now.”
Kosinski has said the innovation is beyond what they did for ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and the epic flying scenes with Tom Cruise.
He told Deadline: “It’s the next generation from what we did on Top Gun. Everything is much smaller and the big innovation that we’re now able to control the movement of the cameras on the cars. We’re not locked into these kinds of fixed positions we had on Top Gun. Now we have real-time control of panning and focusing them while shooting through a very extensive RF network that we’ve built around the tracks.”
The film is set to undergo further shooting later this year and will continue filming until the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in December.

Kym Marsh finds love with ‘soulmate’ co-star

OHMYGOSSIP — Kym Marsh has found love again with her “soulmate” co-star Samuel Thomas a year after the breakdown of her third marriage.
The pop star-turned-actress, 48, has revealed she’s in a relationship with Samuel after meeting him while they were working on a production of ‘101 Dalmatians The Musical’ together and she’s now made the romance Instagram official by sharing a picture of the pair kissing.
Alongside the snap, Kym wrote: “Met the most amazing man ever! Sometimes the most unexpected things happen at the most unexpected times. @samuelthomasuk I love you #beautiful #soulmate #loveyou.”
Samuel replied to her post by commenting: “I love you”.
He also added a picture of the pair together on his own Instagram account, writing: “I didn’t expect you, but here you are. I love you.”
Kim replied to the post: “Ditto. The best things happen unexpectedly. Love you too.”
The new romance comes a year after Kym split from her third husband Scott Ratcliff with the former couple parting ways in May 2023 – just 13 months after they tied the knot.
An insider previously told The Sun newspaper that Kym’s relationship with Scott broke down because they were both so busy while the screen star was taking part in TV talent show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The source said: “They both really tried to make it work, but the cracks have been there for a while and they were only getting to see each other for one or two days a week at the very most … It’s very sad for all involved.”
She was previously married to actor Jack Ryder – the father of her kids David, 29, and Emilie, 27, from 2002 until 2009 and then to ‘Hollyoaks’ star Jamie Lomas. Kym is mum to a 13-year-old daughter – Polly – with Jamie.

Kathy Burke claims to have spiritual powers

OHMYGOSSIP — Kathy Burke claims to have spiritual powers.
The former ‘Gimme Gimme Gimme’ star felt “a bit psychic” when she had a strange encounter with a Syrian cab driver.
The 60-year-old comedian recalled on her podcast ‘Where There’s A Will, There’s A Wake’: “I had a funny moment with this cab driver I said to him, ‘Where are you from? I’m pretty good at accents and I can’t place your accent.
“And he said, ‘I’m Syrian.’
“For some reason I found myself saying, ‘Well, maybe in your past life, you were a bird because they are mimics.
“Well, this guy shut off the radio, He looked at me in the rear-view mirror and went, ‘Two mornings ago, I woke up from the most beautiful dream I’ve ever had. I was flying over Syria. And when I woke up, my first thought was that I used to be a bird.
“I said, ‘I’m happy to confirm.’ I’m maybe a little bit psychic.”
Meanwhile, Kathy previously revealed she enjoys ranting on social media and loves it when her followers tell her off for using bad language – which she has claimed she picked up from nuns at her convent school – as it reminds her of her dad.
She said: “I came on to Twitter in my 50s and I sort of think that was perfect. I am just a ranting old lady really and I like it. If I get angry about stuff – I have to say I can use quite fruity language at times which isn’t to everyone’s taste.
“I am always being told off for using bad language but it’s sort of lovely really, because it makes me think of my lovely dad who was constantly shouting at me for bad language.”

Strictly Come Dancing 20th anniversary special ‘axed’

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ 20th anniversary special set to be filmed at Buckingham Palace has reportedly been axed.
The BBC One Latin and ballroom programme – which first debuted in 2004 – was due to celebrate two decades on screens with Queen Camilla, 76, playing host to a regal televised event but the looming outcome of the investigation into the alleged bullying of celebrity contestants at the hands of long-time pro, Giovanni Pernice, 33, is thought to have been the reason behind the cancellation.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “She found the idea of hosting at the Palace exciting.
“But it was felt by some that the decision to welcome the show might come to be seen in a negative light.”
Giovanni has profusely denied the accusations made against him from former ‘Sherlock’ star Amanda Abbington, 50, who quit last season citing “personal reasons” and ex ‘Love Island’ host Laura Whitmore, 39 – who along with an anonymous star -lodged complaints about his conduct during training sessions.
The BBC and the Palace have not commented on the alleged cancellation.
At the time, Giovanni – who last snagged the Glitterball trophy in 2021 with deaf ‘EastEnders’ star Rose Ayling-Ellis, 29 – defended himself and his teaching methods, which “always come from a place of love”.
He said: “Those who have followed my journey on Strictly Come Dancing over the last decade will know that I am passionate and competitive.
“No one is more ambitious for my dance partners than me.
“I have always striven to help them be the very best dancers they can be. This has always come from a place of love and wanting to win – for me and my dance partners.”
The BBC vowed to deal with the allegations with “care, fairness and sensitivity.”

Cain Dingle actor Jeff Hordley avoids social media due to trolls

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Emmerdale’ star Jeff Hordley avoids social media due to trolling.
The 54-year-old actor has played bad boy Cain Dingle on the long-running ITV soap on-and-off since 2000, and he insists he doesn’t want to “get dragged into that world” so he won’t be signing up for Instagram or Facebook anytime soon.
He is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper’s HOT TV column as saying: “I don’t look at social media. I don’t have Instagram and I don’t have Facebook. I have an account on X but I don’t really look at it.
“I don’t want to get dragged into that world. There are a lot of people that want to be negative.
“This job is hard enough as it is, so I don’t want to deal with that as well.”
The soap star says it can help stars know the reaction to their storylines, but there is too much negativity for him to have any desire to check out people’s comments online.
He continued: “Being an actor is very exposing. It’s hard. Some young actors use social media to gauge what the reaction is to a storyline. But it’s usually quite negative.
“Sports stars are the same. They’re playing a game and then thinking, ‘What have people said about it?’
“But the problem is people can be crushing.”
Jeff is also glad to see producers helping younger stars navigate social media and deal with the backlashes they can face.
He said: “Companies are becoming more aware of social media and helping youngsters.
“It goes across all platforms. I think we need to stamp out the negativity if we can.
“People should just be kind.”

The late Dr. Michael Mosley to be honoured with Just One Thing Day this week

OHMYGOSSIP — The BBC is set to honour the memory of the late Dr. Michael Mosley with ‘Just One Thing Day’ on Friday (12.07.24).
The TV doctor passed away at the age of 67 in June on the Greek island of Symi after he vanished during a walk in sweltering temperatures whilst holidaying with his wife Dr. Clare Bailey Mosley.
And everyone is being asked to do ‘Just One Thing’ in tribute to the host of the BBC Radio 4 podcast of the same name.
Radio 2, 6 Music and BBC Radio1, ‘Morning Live’ and ‘The One Show’ will also be involved.
Mohit Bakaya, Director of Speech and Controller of BBC Radio 4 and 4 Extra, said: “Michael’s broadcasting changed people’s lives. His Radio 4 podcast inspired so many to take up small, everyday things to improve their health and well-being.
“So we thought it would be fitting to dedicate a day to the impact he had on people’s lives and celebrate his legacy within broadcasting and beyond.
“He was a hugely well-liked and widely admired colleague within radio and TV, so it is no surprise that so many programmes across the BBC have been keen to share their support for Michael as part of ‘Just One Thing Day’. I hope audiences will be similarly inspired to join us to do ‘Just One Thing’ in memory of Michael.”
His widow recently vowed to continue his work as she paid tribute to her husband.
She thanked the public for their “outpouring of love” in the wake of the health expert’s death.
Clare posted on Instagram: “Thank you all for your wonderfully supportive messages. The outpouring of love from so many people has meant a huge amount to me and my family.
“I’m going to be quiet for a while. I’m sure you will understand. But I will be back here soon. I very much want to continue with the work that gave Michael and myself so much joy and such a sense of purpose.
“Once more thank you so much for respecting my family’s privacy so kindly.
“Michael was an amazing man. Thank you for seeing that too. We miss him so much.”
Mosley – who presented shows such as the BBC programme ‘Trust Me, I’m A Doctor’ – had reportedly been offered the chance to appear as a contestant on the next series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ before his tragic death.
A source told the Daily Mail newspaper: “He told me just the week before last he’d been invited to do ‘Strictly’.
“Dr. Mosley would have been a hugely loveable contestant, exactly what the show needs.”
‘Just One Thing Day’ will run all day across the BBC. Box sets of Just One Thing are available on BBC Sounds.

Ruben Ostlund thinks awards recognition adds ‘pressure’ on directors

OHMYGOSSIP — Ruben Ostlund admits that winning awards piles the “pressure” on filmmakers.
The 50-year-old director has won two Palme d’Or awards at the Cannes Film Festival for his films ‘The Square’ and ‘Triangle of Sadness’ but saw the recognition as a curse rather than a blessing.
Speaking in conversation with writer-director Niclas Larsson for Interview magazine, Ruben said: “It makes you more insecure, I would say. For me it was a hundred per cent like this. Winning one Golden Palm put more pressure on me, but winning two Golden Palms took away a lot of pressure because that means I wasn’t a one-hit wonder. But then I also need pressure in order to perform.”
The Swedish filmmaker has set himself the target of becoming the first person to win the Palme d’Or award for three consecutive movies.
Ruben said: “So that’s why the goal with the next film is to win another Golden Palm. It’s going to be the first time in the history of filmmaking that a director wins three Golden Palms in a row.
“For me, the goal is to create a bar that is pushed up and to create a goal. I think a lot of people consider me very cocky in a way, but for me, you say it because it creates something that makes it possible to push something.”
Ostlund explained that his sense of “self-confidence” has grown from his success in the film industry as well as other social situations.
He said: “I think also true creative confidence and managing to achieve something and working with feature films and travelling the world and meeting people also developed my self-confidence.
“So it’s something about getting confidence in a profession and then through that, experiencing the world and being put up in different social situations that makes you even more confident.”

Elizabeth Debicki enjoyed ‘medical palate cleanser’ of MaXXXine after starring in The Crown

OHMYGOSSIP — Elizabeth Debicki says starring in ‘MaXXXine’ was a “medical palate cleanser” following her portrayal of Princess Diana in ‘The Crown’.
The 33-year-old actress plays Elizabeth Bender in the third film in Ti West’s ‘X’ horror series and admits that the role provided a refreshing contrast to her part as the tragic royal in the popular Netflix series.
Elizabeth told Forbes: “I shot this quite soon after ‘The Crown’ and I found it to be a very medical palate cleanser.”
The ‘Night Manager’ actress explained the 1980s set film had one of the most impressive scripts that she has ever read and revealed how most of West’s screenplay ended up in the finished picture.
Debicki said: “To be honest, when I read the script – and honestly, I’ve read a lot of things in the last year and a half – I found it was one of the most entertaining things that landed in my inbox. It really entertained me.
“It’s one of those rare films where 99 per cent on the page in the script is what made it on the screen. It’s almost a mirror of the page and that’s a testament to Ti and his team’s storytelling commitment and how talented the departments are that made this movie.”
Elizabeth revealed that she hadn’t watched the previous films in the ‘X’ series before being cast in ‘MaXXXine’ and was taken by surprise when she did so.
She said: “They’re radical films that do something really interesting in the genre.
“I was delighted by what I found because it’s such performance-driven horror. It’s incredibly intelligent about how they use the tropes of the genre but they’re not films about scaring people. They’re films about a woman and how her inner psychological blueprint is being explored all of the time.”
Elizabeth added: “I love films like that. I love films about women. I seek them out.
“So, I’m so glad my role in ‘MaXXXine’ prompted me to watch ‘X’ and ‘Pearl’. I was completely mesmerised by both of them. They’re so unusual and really enjoyable and I didn’t think I’d feel that way.”

Lucy Fallon hits back at women ‘triggered’ by her wearing makeup

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ star Lucy Fallon has hit back at women who are “triggered” by her wearing makeup.
The 28-year-old soap star – who plays Bethany Platt on the ITV show – attended the Lytham Festival over the weekend, and she shared a video of herself getting ready on Instagram which sparked several comments about her beauty.
One user commented: “That’s a lot of make up, your naturally attractive anyway, don’t need it! (sic)”
She responded: “Ppl (women lol) are SO triggered at me wearing makeup. Maybe I LIKE making an effort when I get the opportunity to. Sorry if you don’t xx. (sic)”
Meanwhile, Lucy previously admitted she feared she wouldn’t be able to remember her lines when she returned to ‘Coronation Street’.
She made her debut back in 2014 and departed the show in early 2020 but returned to screens in January.
And while it was the “best decision” she has ever made to reprise the role, she joked that she was initially concerned that people may have forgotten about her during her time away.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, she said in December: “The best decision I’ve ever made was to go back, it’s the best to work and some of my best friends work on that show.
“I’m just so happy. It was [nerve-wracking], it was like the first day back at school. I’d had nearly four years away from the show and then going back I was like ‘Am I going to remember my lines?’, ‘Are people gonna remember who I am? They might be like ‘Who is this girl?'”

Joanna Page refuses to wear a bikini on Gavin and Stacey

OHMYGOSSIP — Joanna Page refuses to wear a bikini on ‘Gavin and Stacey’.
The ‘Love Actually’ star considers herself too old to be frolicking around the Welsh seaside in a two-piece swimsuit on the beloved BBC Three sitcom.
The 47-year-old actress, who plays Stacey, the love interest of Gavin (Mathew Horne), told ‘BBC Breakfast’: “I just hope that I haven’t signed on to be running around on Barry beach in a bikini because I’m not doing that at 47.”
For 2003 rom-com classic ‘Love Actually’, Joanna appeared naked as celebrity body double Just Judy alongside Martin Freeman as John, who fall for each other while filming sex scenes.
Joanna – who has children Eva, 10, Kit, eight, Noah, seven, and Boe, two, with her husband James Thorton – insisted she was also in the blue when her co-stars, the show’s creators, Ruth Jones, 57, and James Corden, 45, penned the finale and was shocked by their characters Nessa and Smithy ending the Christmas special in 2019 on a proposal cliffhanger.
She said: “I am the same as everyone else. I can’t wait to find out what has happened. I remember all those years ago reading the script for the last special, and I was doing it on my phone.
“I got to the end, and it said, ‘Nessa goes down one knee’, and I remember scrolling through thinking, ‘That can’t be the end’. I am the same as everybody, what happens?”
James – who recently finished his run as the host of ‘The Late Late Show’ on CBS in Los Angeles – broke the news on his Instagram in May after months of speculation.
He wrote on a black-and-white selfie of himself and Ruth: “Some news… It’s official!!! We have finished writing the last ever episode of Gavin and Stacey. See you on Christmas Day, BBC One. Love Ruth and James.
“We’ll have: A chicken bhuna, lamb bhuna, prawn bhuna, mushroom rice, bag of chips, keema naan, nine poppadoms and the last ever episode of Gavin and Stacey!!!
“Coming this Christmas Day on BBC One and iPlayer.”
Alison Steadman, 77, Larry Lamb, 76, Rob Brydon, 59, will return as Pam, Mick and Bryn, respectively.

Love Island’s Kaz Kamwi is not romantically involved with Chris Taylor

OHMYGOSSIP — Kaz Kamwi has denied speculation she is dating fellow ‘Love Island: All Stars’ star Chris Taylor.
The 29-year-old reality star has insisted she and her co-star are platonic, and the same goes for her and Toby Aromolaran.
She told The Sun: “Love Chris. Love Toby. My friends forever!
“I think everyone thinks that me and Chris are a thing.
Everyone thinks that me and Toby are a thing. Those are my boys!
“No dating, we’re all really great mates.”
Chris – who landed a role as Ken in the blockbuster ‘Barbie’ movie in 2023 – is among the stars confirmed for the new series of E4’s ‘Celebs Go Dating’.
Series 13 is also expected to feature former ‘Coronation Street’ star Helen Flanagan, former ‘Hollyoaks’ actress and singer Jamelia, ex-‘Gogglebox’ star Stephen Lustig-Webb, Made in Chelsea’s Tristan Phipps, and ‘Married at First Sight’ cast member Ella Morgan.
And an eyewitness said of Kaz and Toby’s outing together: “Toby and Kaz looked really cosy and appear to have a close bond. They were having such a good time together, laughing and joking all day. Whether the relationship is platonic or not is hard to work out, but they certainly seem fixated with each other.”

Simon Cowell makes Midas Touch changes due to ‘travel schedule’

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Cowell’s nationwide hunt for the new One Direction was due to head to Newcastle, but plans have now changed.
The ‘X Factor’ boss is said to have signed a deal with Netflix for new documentary ‘The Midas Touch’, which will see him look for a new global sensation pop act, and there was due to be nine auditions, but that has been reduced to seven.
According to The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column, there were initial plans for two audition dates in Newcastle, but they are no longer expected to take place.
Representatives for Simon told the publication that the dates hadn’t been axed as such, because venues hadn’t been booked in Newcastle, but the changes were due to their “travel schedule”.
It comes after Simon – who previously signed Newcastle-born Cheryl to the ‘X Factor’ panel – previously admitted he loves Geordies.
He said: “I wanted to go to places with fun people, so Newcastle, yeah.
“I like the people from Newcastle.”
Last month, it was reported that Simon and co were due to head to Newcastle for auditions on July 4th and 5th, before moving on to Liverpool, Dublin and London.
He is said to be hoping to recreate the success he had at ‘The X Factor’ auditions in 2010 when Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson tried out as solo singers.
Simon and his fellow judges put the quintet together to form One Direction, who went on to become one of the biggest boybands in the world.
However, it is likely that Simon will make one big change with his new boyband after recently admitting his big regret with One Direction was that he did not keep the rights to the group’s name.
Speaking on ‘The Diary of a CEO’ podcast, Simon explained: “The one thing I regret is I should have kept the name. I should have owned the name. That’s the problem. When you give an artist the name, it’s not yours. And that’s my only regret. So if you’re listening, I’ll buy it back from you.
“If one of the band members, for whatever reason, say they don’t want to tour, it can stop the others [from] touring. So, if it was me who owned the name, it wouldn’t be a problem.”

Claire Sweeney and Ricky Hatton’s mutual Only Fools and Horses love

OHMYGOSSIP — Claire Sweeney and Ricky Hatton bonded over a mutual love of ‘Only Fools and Horses’.
The former professional boxer was known to be a big fan of the legendary BBC sitcom, and now ‘Coronation Street’ star Claire – who hooked up with Ricky after they met on ‘Dancing on Ice’ earlier this year – admitted one of their favourite pastimes is watching episodes of show.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, she said: “I’ve known Ricky for like 25 years and always passed each other at events.
“I first met him in La Manga in the early 2000’s, then we did ‘Dance for Comic Relief’ together 2013, and then we met on ‘Dancing on Ice’ and it’s great … he makes me laugh and we both like ‘Only Fools and Horses’, so what’s not to like!”
Claire’s comments about their “great” relationship come after Ricky recently admitted the former ‘Brookside’ star helped him avoid being “Billy no mates” on the ITV ice-skating show earlier this year.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I had a good laugh on the ice. I mean, after the first day, I was scared to death but I always love a challenge.
“I got knocked out in the first round, but I was able to able to meet Claire.
“I was always a Billy no mates at these things before Claire.
“Me and Claire have been together about five months now and long may it continue.”
In May, Ricky, 45, gushed over 53-year-old Claire shortly after they returned from a holiday to Tenerife.
When asked how their romantic jaunt was, Ricky told The Sun newspaper: “It was great! Claire is like me, I’ve met someone who I get on with like a house on fire.
“She is just like me. We spend our whole time laughing together. Claire is just like me – she’s so down to earth.
“She would never turn a picture down with a fan and she’s always got time for people. That’s what I really like about her.
“We’ve just been having good fun.”

‘It’s hard to make films as a woman and it is hard to make films about women…’ Kate Winslet discusses challenges on biopic Lee

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Winslet insists it is still “hard to make films as a woman” and “about women”.
The 48-year-old actress stars in and co-produced upcoming biographical drama ‘Lee’, about the life of model and war photographer Lee Miller.
Winslet was attached to the project for eight years and after taking on producing duties she hired cinematographer Ellen Kuras – who she had worked with on ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’ – to make her directorial debut on the movie.
Appearing at the European premiere of ‘Lee’ at the Munich International Film Festival, Kate spoke about how the film’s lengthy journey to the screen proves why it is still difficult to tell important stories about women on screen.
She said: “We chose to delay the release of ‘Lee’ because of the strike and because I wanted to be able to talk about the real true labour of love that it was for me and my producing partner Kate Solomon to make this film.
“It’s hard to make films as a woman and it is hard to make films about women. I hope with this film people will be more open-eared and more open-eyed to wanting to absorb stories of phenomenally important historical figures like the formidable Lee Miller.”
Miller had been a fashion model in New York in the 1920s before heading to Paris, France, to learn how to be a fashion and fine art photographer before she became a war correspondent for Vogue at the outbreak of World War II in 1939.
Miller – who was living in Hampstead, London, when the conflict began – teamed up with David E. Scherman, played by Andy Samberg in the film, to cover events such as the London Blitz and the liberation of Paris.
Their often harrowing images were responsible for educating the world on the true atrocities of the Nazis, in particular the concentration camps at Buchenwald and Dachau.
Winslet admits the scenes showing Miller’s work in the camps was particularly difficult to film.
She said: “The part that was hardest to shoot was Dachau; it was extremely hard for Andy Samberg who did not want to see the set at all until we’ve actually gone onto his face [in the film]. His entire reaction as we are walking in really is how he was reacting.
“It was just so important to us to make sure that we weren’t trying to emulate images of the camps that have been done brilliantly by other filmmakers in the past. We had to really be determined to make sure we were only seeing it through [Miller and Scherman’s] eyes.”
