Karim Zeroual backing new end-of-life charity drive

OHMYGOSSIP — Karim Zeroual is backing a new end-of-life charity drive.
The ‘EastEnders’ actor and ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ finalist, 30, has joined a joint fundraiser run by Superdrug and Marie Curie to urge shoppers to top up their beauty purchases with 20p to raise cash for terminally ill patients.
Referring to how he and his partner Yazminn Greene had their first daughter, Zayna Romy Zeroual, on 11 March, he said: “As a recent first time dad I’m always finding myself having to stock up on essentials, and it’s brilliant that it’s now so easy for people to donate to Marie Curie when they do so.
“The work they do to help people at the end of their lives is so valuable – so I encourage everyone to donate their spare change to the charity on their next Superdrug shop.
“Twenty pence can feel like very little compared to what you’d spend overall, and yet it helps to make a monumental difference to this vital charity.”
Superdrug’s new Yellow Pennies fundraising initiative in partnership with hospice charity Marie Curie comes as a survey revealed shoppers in Britain are set to spend £1.4 billion on health and beauty this summer.
The joint fundraiser aims to get shoppers to top up their Superdrug buys with a 20p donation so the cash can go towards funding the vital work of the end of life charity.
If only one in five Brits chose to donate 20p on just one Superdrug purchase this summer, it would raise more than £2 million for the charity.
An estimated 150,000 people die every year without the care they need, with nine in 10 of people who pass away in Britain today needing palliative care.
A press release for the Yellow Pennies campaign said: “Without this care and support, people are dying frightened, alone, and in avoidable pain and suffering. “Stressed and exhausted families often do not know where to turn to for help.”
Sophie Graham, a clinical nurse manager at Marie Curie, said: “This campaign is so much more important than you might think.
“Every 20p donation will go straight into funding vital hospice and hospice care at home services, and Marie Curie healthcare assistants and nurses like me.
“It all adds up, and they will allow us to be there for even more people when they need us the most.”

Lauren Goodger’s grief still raw two years after death of baby

OHMYGOSSIP — Lauren Goodger’s grief is still “just as raw”, two years after the death of her daughter.
Lauren’s daughter Lorena died just minutes after being born with her umbilical cord around her neck and Lauren, 37, admitted she is still struggling to process the loss.
She told Closer magazine: “People said time would be a healer but it’s the opposite. It’s harder now because reality has set in. My brain is only just understanding that I’ve lost my baby whereas at the beginning I was on autopilot.”
And Lauren admitted she finds it even harder when she watches other daughter Larose, almost three, – whose father is Lauren’s ex-partner Charles Drury – playing on her own.
She said: “When I watch Larose playing alone in the garden, that’s when it hurts the most- Lorena should be there with her.
“It’s a very emotional time, next week is Larose’s birthday, so while I’m grieving, I also have to organise her party, when really I should be planning for them both. I have to carry on for Larose. She’s too young to understand but she knows of Lorena and the other day she said ‘my sister’ which gave me chills.
“I’ve got a plaque of Lorena’s name on the wall, a cast of her hand and feet and even a bit of her hair that I keep with me. It’s hard but I love talking about her because it keeps her alive.”

Joe Swash and Stacey Solomon’s happy marriage

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Swash and Stacey Solomon still “fancy the pants off each other”.
Although Stacey, 34, recently revealed that she and Joe, 42, no longer share a bed due to their young kids, friends have insisted the pair are happier together than ever.
The couple have have son Rex, five, and daughters Rose, two, and 16-month-old Belle together, while Stacey has Leighton, 12, and Zachary, 16, and Joe has Harry, 16, from previous relationships.
A source told new magazine: “Stacey always jokes that her and Joe don’t have a love life because they have so many kids but the truth is they still fancy the pants off each other and just love being around each other as much as they can.
“Because of their busy lives, they don’t see each other as much as they’d like to and sometimes they’re both so tired at the end of the day and putting the kids to bed that they just fall asleep and it can be easier with one of them in with Rex and the other having the two younger ones.”
However, the happy couple are planning lots of date nights together this summer.
The insider added: “They’re fortunate in the fact that they have lots of family nearby who are always happy to look after the kids, so Stacey wants them to have lots of date nights this summer as they have the most fun when they’re out together.”
Meanwhile, Stacey recently admitted she might one day decide to become a stay-at-home mum.
Speaking on the ‘Glad We Had This Chat’ podcast, she told host Caroline Hirons: “I’m a phenomenal mum. I’m done with mum guilt. If you’re the mum who loves to be out at work, and I’m the mum who’s like, oh, I love playing at home. They’re both good mums. I don’t understand why one is better than the other in my opinion.
“Whatever phase of life I’m at, I might be this mum right now. But in two years time, if, let’s say, I’ve decided to stay at home and never work again, I might be like, I want to go back to work. Does that make me a bad mum? No, no, it makes me a human that my children can see that I am still a human being. Not just mum.
“I’m not a mythical creature with no feelings and no ambitions.”

Adrian Chiles studying witchcraft after spotting ‘Witchy Supplies’ shop

OHMYGOSSIP — Adrian Chiles is studying witchcraft.
The former ‘One Show’, ‘Daybreak’ and ‘Match of the Day 2’ host, 57, says he is reading a book on the “dark arts” and wants to buy crystals after seeing a store in the West Midlands that specialised in “witchy supplies” – and is also convinced witches are a force for good despite being terrified of them after seeing ‘The Wizard of Oz’.
He wrote in his regular column for The Guardian: “I saw a strange thing on the way to Cradley Heath. Or thought I did.
“I was driving my mum’s car to a garage for a service. I passed a shop for witches. ‘Witchy Supplies’, it said on the sign.
“I did a double take, giving thanks there was no one in front of me or I’d have driven into them.
“Later, I mentioned this place to a couple of friends who live and work in that area and they looked at me funny. What? A witches’ supply shop? In Colley Gate? Are you sure?
“I wondered if I’d dreamed it. So when I collected the car, I risked another drive past and, yes, there it was. The Wicklow Witch. Candles, Crystals, Witchy Supplies.”
Adrian bought a book called ‘Basic Witches’ when he went back to the shop – which goes for around £12 and promises to teach readers how to “tap into their inner sorceress and channel the dark arts”.
Father-of-two Adrian added about returning to the shop after his curiosity got the better of him: “There, behind the counter, was the witch herself. I asked her if there were many witches, here in the Halesowen area.
“‘You’d be surprised,’ she said. Actually, I wouldn’t. I don’t think anything is ever going to surprise me again.
“I’ve been decidedly anti-witch ever since I was scared half to death 50 years ago by that nasty piece of work in ‘The Wizard of Oz’.
“I’m thankful to this witch, the delightful Juliet O’Brien, for putting me right on a few things, not least that proper witches don’t do bad things because they know such behaviour will only come back and haunt them.
“Witches are a force only for good. I’ve been reading up on them in a book I bought from Juliet called ‘Basic Witches’ and I’m liking what I’m finding.
“I’m going back soon to pick up some crystals, seriously.”

Daisy May Cooper taking break ‘Buzzcocks’ after becoming mum for third time

OHMYGOSSIP — Daisy May Cooper is taking a break from her role as team captain on ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’ after becoming a mum for the third time.
The comic and actress, 37, whose son Benji arrived early last month, had been due to return to the job when the music quiz show returned for a fourth series later this year on Sky Max.
But she’ll now be replaced by comedian Sophie Willan, 36, on the show until Daisy returns for the Christmas Special.
Daisy had taken to Instagram to say she was very grateful to everyone for their “beautiful messages” after the arrival of her baby boy – who she said arrived a “bit earlier than we expected”.
She shared a picture of herself cradling Benji in her arms while still in the hospital along with the message: “Update: ignore the dinner plate sized areola… little Benji is doing brilliantly.
“Thank you so much for all your beautiful messages xx.”
She said on when Benji arrived in June alongside a video of them in a neonatal intensive care unit: “You came a bit earlier than we expected and gave me the worst post op constipation that I nearly had to phone the Samaritans but my god you are perfect.
“I cannot thank @deliverysuitegrh enough. The way you looked after us through such a scary time was above and beyond.
“You are all superstars. I am so blessed. Welcome to the world little Benji, ya nutter Born 06/06/24.”
Daisy was seen in her video being pushed by a nurse into the neonatal unit where she broke down in tears when she saw her child, and was seen crying: “Hi bubba” as she reached into his incubator to touch her boy.
Benji is Daisy’s first child with her boyfriend Anthony Huggins, and she has her other two children – daughter Pip, six, and four-year-old son Jack – with her former long-term partner Will Weston, from whom she split in 2021.
The new series of ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’ will see comic Greg Davies, 56, return as host with team captains Noel Fielding, 51, and regular panellist Jamali Maddix, 33, also set for a comeback.

Eddie Murphy wants to make a ‘mash-up movie’ of all his characters

OHMYGOSSIP — Eddie Murphy would like to do one movie combining every role he’s done.
The 63-year-old actor is thrilled to be reprising his role as Donkey in the upcoming fifth movie in the DreamWorks Animation franchise, and would love to reprise any one of his roles as long as the right script came along.
He told Australia’s WHO magazine: “Sure. We’re just doing another Shrek, which is going to be great. We already did Coming 2 America and we’re working on a new script for another movie right now. But I like the idea of maybe doing a mash-up movie with all my characters and have me play them all. That would be fun. But if the idea is good and the script is right, I would return to any one of my characters again.”
Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie are all on board to reprise their roles for the next instalment, which is set to hit cinemas on 1 July 2026, 16 years after the release of the fourth film, ‘Shrek Forever After’.
The studio confirmed the news on X, with a spokesperson stating: “Not too Far, Far Away… @Shrek 5 is coming to theaters on July 1, 2026 with Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz.”
Walt Dohrn, who previously worked as writer and artist on the second and third movies and was Head of Story on the fourth, will direct the film, with Brad Ableson as co-director. Gina Shay is returning to produce alongside Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
The confirmation comes a month after Eddie confirmed work had started on the film, and that his character Donkey will be getting a spin-off movie.
He told Collider: “We started doing ‘Shrek’ four or five months ago.
“I recorded the first act, and we’ll be doing it this year. We’ll finish it up.”
Illumination founder Chris Meledandri first discussed the film last year and admitted he was hopeful of getting the original cast back together.
The film producer told Variety: “We anticipate the cast coming back. Talks are starting now, and every indication that we’ve gotten is there’s tremendous enthusiasm on behalf of the actors to return.”

Twisters anxiety and trauma

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Twisters’ is about “anxiety and trauma”.
The new movie – starring Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell and Anthony Ramos – is not a direct sequel but is inspired by the original 1996 movie ‘Twister’ and director Lee Isaac Chung hopes the natural-disaster movie helps people to face their own fears.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “What I want people to take away from this has to do with fear, and, in a similar way, anxiety and trauma — which I hear people talking about quite a lot. I’ve personally felt a lot of fear in my own work and career. And going from ‘Minari’ to this project came with a lot of fear, too. So I’m hoping that this film has some feeling to take away in Kate’s [Edgar-Jones] journey of how she wrestles with it and how she comes through on the other side.”
In the movie, Edgar-Jones’ character Kate loses several friends (including her boyfriend) during a college experiment gone wrong but by the end of the film, she appears to be at at peace with her traumatic past.
Chung added: ” All of the tornado science elements, we tried to be as accurate as possible. We do take stretches. There’s science fiction in it. The idea of Kate’s experiment of what she’s trying to accomplish with the tornado that is very speculative, but it’s based on theoretical science.”

Sharon Stone praises streaming

OHMYGOSSIP — Sharon Stone believes streaming has been good for Hollywood.
The 66-year-old actress believes that streaming networks have been vital in keeping mid-range budge movies alive as studios focus on blockbusters.
Speaking at the Taormina Film Festival, where she received the Golden Cariddi Lifetime Achievement Award, Sharon told Variety: “The world has changed dynamically since 1992. When I made ‘Basic Instinct,’ it seemed like a scandal. The studios have changed dramatically. They’ve changed from making a variety of movies to making really these gigantic $100 and $200 million films. When I was making these beautiful films 30 years ago, they would be $50-60 million tops. Now streamers are taking over our business. And I don’t think that that’s a terrible thing really. We’re coming back to making smaller and more relevant films.”
And, Sharon believes there is now more of an opportunity for women to write, direct and produce.
She said: “I just have to say now that women are writing, producing, and are more and more a part of filmmaking, and films are less about men writing about their fantasies of the way women are and actors asked to portray the male fantasy, and the critics are less asked to tell us if we fulfil the male fantasy, or not.
“That film is so changed from whether women are fulfilling the written, directed, produced, edited, and criticised… if we’d have met with a male fantasy, and now it’s more about: are we fulfilling this human condition?”
“It’s not something we’re coming back to in my mind. It’s stayed on TV. You wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t natural. None of us would be here if sex and sexuality wasn’t a natural part of our human condition.”

Paddy McGuinness to discuss divorce in new tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Paddy McGuinness will discuss his split from Christine McGuinness in his new stand-up show.
The 50-year-old comedian – who has twins Leo and Penelope, 10 and Felicity, seven, with Christine – revealed he will open up about his personal life, including his painful break-up with Christine and co-parenting their three autistic children.
He told Tony Bellew on his podcast ‘Club Bellew’: “This tour will be slightly different from past tours. “I’m planning to talk about things I have never talked about on tour, for instance having children with autism.
“I’m divorced now, so that will come into it. It’s been eight years since my last tour and there’s lots of things to laugh about. I’m looking forward to getting back in front of a live audience, along with running the gauntlet of cancel culture, click bait and fake news.”
Meanwhile, Paddy – who split from Christine after 11 years of marriage in 2022, although they still live together for the sake of the kids – recently revealed he would be supportive if Christine, 36, met someone else.
Speaking with the Daily Mirror newspaper, he said: “If Christine met someone else, I’d be supportive.
“If someone didn’t know our situation and came to our house and they spent the day with us, they would not have a clue [we were not together]. We get on well, we live together and co-parent. We get the lawyers back and forth but that’s separate – that’s a different thing.”
Paddy also revealed he had been on a few dates, but has now decided to stay single and focus on his family.
He explained: “ I tried a couple of dates last year – After 12 months of adjusting to life on my own I felt I should give it a try rather than really wanting to. For now I’m happy being single.
“For now, we’re happy with how things are, living together and helping each other balance work and kids.”

Christine Lampard’s family bond

OHMYGOSSIP — Frank Lampard is “like the son” Christine Lampard’s parents never had.
The 45-year-old TV presenter revealed her parents Frederick and Mina adore her football manager husband – who she tied the knot with in 2015 – and treat him like their own son.
She told Woman Home magazine: “I love the relationship Frank has with my family. Frank is like the son my mum and dad never had.”
Frank lost his own mother Patricia in 2008 so the relationship with Christine’s parents is even more special to him.
She said: “There are still moments where losing his mum takes Frank’s breath away, and he can’t quite believe its been so long.
“I didn’t get to meet Frank’s mum but there’s a lovely picture of her in our house and even though the kids are really young, they know exactly who she is.”
“It was a very emotional day when I asked Frank ‘Why don’t we call our daughter Patricia?’ I think he was overwhelmed. I look at her now and she’s nothing else but Patricia.”
Meanwhile, Christine said she the key to a happy marriage between her and Frank, 46, is that they still make time for each other.
She explained: “Frank and I always make time for each other, which feels really special. We love getting dressed up, going somewhere nice and having a proper laugh. I still get excited about doing that.’
“We’ll go out for some food, but if it’s in the evening, we’ll be back at a decent time because we know we’ll get woken up at the crack of dawn by work or a small child.
“I’m just as happy going out with Frank as I am going out with a gang of girls. I like a sneaky lunch so I can be back early and avoid a hangover. If I knew I could stay in bed and sleep the next day after a night out, fine, but I can’t.”
Frank shares daughters Luna and Isla with his ex Elen Rivas, while he has Patricia, five, and Freddie, three, with Christine.

Dave Bautista pays tribute to WWE career in his movies

OHMYGOSSIP — Dave Bautista tries to “sneak” his signature wrestling move into all of his movies.
The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ star – who retired from the WWE after 19 years in 2019 – confirmed his famed Bautista Bomb features in a fight sequence in his new action comedy sequel ‘My Spy: The Eternal City’ and admitted he wants to use it in as much of his work as possible to pay tribute to his past career.
He told ComicBook.com: “I just wanted to put it in. We were working on that fight scene and I was like, ‘Oh man this would be fun.’
“And now, it’s kind of become my obsession. I’m trying to squeeze it into every film just because. It’s one of those Easter eggs.
“I think if I can get it into every film, I will. It’s just a nod to my career. A nod to the fans.”
Meanwhile, the 55-year-old actor recently admitted his “dream role” was always supervillain Bane, but once he felt he was too old for the part, he’d jump at the chance to play Superman’s arch-nemesis Lex Luthor.
When ScreenRant asked the actor which DC characters he’d be open to portraying, he said: “For forever, it was Bane. When I was younger, I wanted to play Bane; it was like a dream role for me. And I got to a point in my career where I just felt like I was just too old to play Bane. I think the physicality of it, at this point in my career and my life, I just wouldn’t be able to do the character justice.
“And then I saw somewhere online that someone posted something of me playing Lex Luthor; an older Lex Luthor. I kind of became obsessed with that idea.”
Sadly for the star , DC boss James Gunn opted to cast ‘X-Men’ star Nicholas Hoult as the villain in ‘Superman’, but the actor has emphasised he’s still interested in joining the superhero cinematic universe.
He continued: “Obviously, they moved on from that idea, so at this point, I’m struggling to find my place in the DC universe. But I’d really be up for anything.”

Madonna offered ‘great note’ for Deadpool and Wolverine

OHMYGOSSIP — Madonna offered a “great note” that changed ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ for the better.
The 65-year-old singer – who has previously directed movies ‘Filth and Wisdom’ and ‘W.E.’ – was approached by the film’s star Ryan Reynolds for permission to use her 1989 single ‘Like A Prayer’, and not only did she give her permission after he and director Shawn Levy offered an extensive pitch, she also gave some guidance on the best way to utilise the music.
Speaking on SiriusXM, Shawn admitted: “It did feel like we were meeting royalty.”
Hailing the meeting “one of the great thrills” of his life, Ryan said: “Madonna doesn’t just license the song, and particularly that song has not been licensed.
“So it was a big deal to ask for it and certainly a bigger deal to use it… We went over and met with her and showed her how it was being used and where and why.
“And she gave a great note. My God, she watched it and, I’m not kidding, she was like, ‘You need to do this, this, and this in this moment.’ And damn it, if she wasn’t like spot-on and right.”
The 55-year-old director was happy to take Madonna’s advice.
He said: “We literally went into a new recording session within 48 hours to do this one note. She had only one note, and it was a great note, and it made the sequence better.”
The filmmaker noted that one of the Queen of Pop’s sons is a “big ‘Deadpool’ fan”, and “she mentioned that that definitely was an advantage” in persuading her to let him use her classic track in the upcoming movie, which will also star Hugh Jackman.

Gwendoline Christie uses music and scents to get into a character’s mindset

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwendoline Christie has to be in the “mindset” of her characters before she arrives on set.
The ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Star Wars’ actress will use music and certain fragrances to help her get into character.
She told Total Film magazine: “I need to be thinking about my character from the moment I arrive on set: I find objects can be an endless supply of inspiration for that. I might take a photograph, use a certain scent, but often for me, it’s usually music.
“There was a PJ Harvey track I used for one character and it was quite confronting. I found that listening to that endlessly would immediately put me into the character’s mindset.”
The 45-year-old actress says that oftentimes friendships are formed extremely quickly on set and whenever she meets them again, no matter how much time has past, they instantly go back to how they were.
Asked if she has remained friends with cast and crew on the many projects she has worked on over the years, she replied: “On set, something quite magical happens whereby you have an immediate friendship with someone but you might not see them for years.
“The second you meet again, it’s as though no time has passed at all: you pick up exactly where you left off. Part of the beauty of being a performer is the intensity of these relationships: they can be over very quickly but often they are so significant that you never forget the beautiful energy of that time together. And when it resumes, it’s one of the most wonderful parts of the job.
“There are also people with whom you become friends for life.”

James Corden emotional after penning last ever Gavin and Stacey script

OHMYGOSSIP — James Corden has “finished” writing ‘Gavin and Stacey’ for the final time.
The 45-year-old star and his co-writer Ruth Jones confirmed earlier this year they were bringing back the comedy series for one final festive special – which will air on the BBC on Christmas Day (25.012.24) – and the former ‘Late Late Show’ host admitted it has only just hit them that they’ll “never” again pen material for their beloved characters.
Speaking on ‘The Chris Evans Breakfast Show’ on Virgin Radio, James grew emotional as he said: “Last night we were like ‘oh that’s it now. We’ve finished. We’ll never write anything that Pam says again.
“We’ll never write interior Gwen’s house. We’ll never come up with an interesting thing that Bryn’s done.’
“We just looked at each other and we were like ‘wow – isn’t that amazing?'”
Earlier this month, James revealed he and Ruth had been making the final touches to the script for the episode, but finding the time had proven to be tricky
because of their respective stage commitments.
Speaking on Capital Breakfast, he said: “It’s written right but now we’re doing rewrites. So we have to, we have to remove some time, we have to change some bits around.
“So we’ve been doing that, it’s quite tough because Ruth’s in ‘Sister Act’ over in the West End at the minute, and I’m doing ‘The Constituent’ at the Old Vic.
“So we’ve been doing quite a bit of writing in dressing rooms and things like that. And then both looking at each other being quite tired from the plays but we’ll be back at it tomorrow. Back at it Friday. I hope by Friday…it will be done and finished this Friday.”
The pair agreed to make a finale episode of the show – which debuted in 2007 and ended in 2010, but came back for the festive edition nine years later – after James returned to the UK from the US after hosting ‘The Late, Late Show’ on CBS.

Craig Revel Horwood ‘shocked’ by misconduct allegations towards Strictly Come Dancing professionals

OHMYGOSSIP — Craig Revel Horwood has insisted allegations of abusive behaviour from ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professionals came as a “shock” to him.
The 59-year-old choreographer and his fellow judges – Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke – are kept “very, very separate” to the contestants on the BBC Latin and ballroom competition so he had no idea about the alleged misconduct until claims were made in the media and people such as Amanda Abbington and Zara McDermott spoke publicly about their experiences.
He told BBC Radio Wales: “I’m just finding out [about the allegations], like everybody else, through the press.
“For me it’s a shock, and news to me, because the judges are never present at any of the teaching. We literally come in on a Saturday and just judge what we see before us.
“So we’re kept very, very separate to the rest of the company.
“For us, it’s complete news. Every day that I read about something I think, ‘That can’t be right,’ so I’ll wait and see what happens with the investigations, but certainly we have nothing to do with that.”
But Craig insisted he isn’t worried about the future of ‘Strictly’ after Graziano Di Prima was dropped from the show after allegedly being violent towards Zara, while Amanda and others have complained about Giovanni Pernice’s teaching methods.
Asked if he’s worried about the future of the show, he said: “I don’t think so because it’s one of those shows that belongs in the people’s hearts that are at home who love dancing, and there’s nothing better than seeing someone come from nothing and work hard and move up to being absolutely phenomenal.”
The BBC have pledged to make changes to “strengthen welfare and support” on the show, including introducing chaperones to rehearsals.
And Craig welcomes the move.
He said: “When I was in [the musical] ‘Annie’ we had chaperones everywhere, because the kids and laws and all of that stuff.
“And I’ve noticed in the theatre world we have chaperones and people we can speak to if you’re having a down day.
“We have psychologists on the shows now, and all of that, so I think it’s just a normal progression of what’s happening in life now. I think it’s good to have that.”
