Love Island stars reveal Joey Essex rule break

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Love Island’ stars Jess White and Hugo Godfroy have told how Joey Essex broke the rules in the villa.
The 25-year-old retail manager admitted the former ‘TOWIE’ star “ignored” producers when the Islanders were told they had to sit in separate gender groups during meal times, because he was keen to speak to his partner Jessy Potts.
She told OK! magazine: “Joey just doesn’t understand when you say, ‘Boys and girls separate.’
“It’s like, ‘Joey – separate! That means separate!’ He just ignores them.”
But 24-year-old electrician Hugo admitted it was difficult to avoid “Island chat” at meal times, and confessed he also fell foul of the rules at times.
Hugo added: “You’re not allowed to have Island chat when you’re having lunch but it’s all we know!
“You just want to talk about it but constantly on the Tannoy, it would be like, ‘Hugo, shut up!’ ”
Jess explained: “They’re like, ‘Stop talking! Stop talking or we’ll separate you!’ It’s quite scary being told off.”
What’s more, Jess also told how she and Hugo are “still seeing each other”.
Hugo added: “We’re just going at our own pace.”
The pair were dumped from the villa earlier this month, and Jess admitted at the time it was “bittersweet” to be leaving the villa, but insisted the experience has been “everything and more” than she ever imagined.
She said: “It’s a bittersweet moment, I always said if I made it past week one I’d be proud of myself, so to make it to week five is amazing.
“It was nothing like I expected, it was everything and more.
“Everyone has been beyond lovely from the amazing Islanders I was with in the Villa to the production team and crew, everyone has just made my experience even more than I ever imagined it to be.”

Jeff Brazier reveals why he ‘would be uncomfortable’ taking part in next Strictly series

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeff Brazier would be “uncomfortable” taking part in the next series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The ‘This Morning’ presenter wouldn’t want to venture into the “world” of his 21-year-old son Bobby Brazier – who is currently starring on ‘EastEnders’ as Freddie – and he would prefer to let his boy have it as “his thing”, after he reached the final last year.
Bobby was partnered with professional dancer Dianne Buswell, 35, on the BBC Latin and ballroom competition, which is hosted by Tess Daly, 55, and Claudia Winkleman, 52 and features a judging panel of Shirley Ballas, 63, Anton Du Beke, 57, Motsi Mabuse, 43, and Craig Revel-Horwood, 59.
The 45-year-old television presenter told Closer magazine: “I would be uncomfortable doing the next series, because I feel like that was Bobby’s world. I want to leave that as his thing.”
Jeff – who also has 19-year-old son Freddie, who he shares with his late partner, ‘Big Brother’ icon Jade Goody, who passed away in 2009 aged 27 – believes he has become “a better person” over the years.
He said: “I have become a better person the more vulnerable I’ve become.
“In the early years of bringing up the children, I would just use the shield of positivity, and it only got me so far. If I can allow myself to ask for support, then suddenly life gets a little easier.”
Jeff heaped praise on his wife Kate Dwyer, 34, for working “incredibly hard” as a public relations executive.
He said: “My wife is the director of a PR company, so she works incredibly hard. I’m so proud of her.
“Bobby’s got such an amazing opportunity to pursue his passions, and that’s very much acting.
“My youngest Freddie is working on something slightly more manual and physical. There’s never any pressure from me – I don’t care what either of my boys do, as long as they’re nice people.”

Paula Radcliffe says Strictly Come Dancing would be her ‘worst nightmare’

OHMYGOSSIP — Paula Radcliffe says competing on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ would be her “worst nightmare”.
The BBC presenter – who will help lead the public broadcaster’s coverage at the 2024 Paris Olympics, which kicks off on Friday (26.07.24) – doesn’t ever want to compete for the Glitterball Trophy on the BBC One Latin and ballroom contest, despite seeing other athletes succeed on the show.
The 50-year-old former Olympian told OK! magazine: “Doing ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ would be my worst nightmare. I know some athletes are good but I totally wouldn’t be.”
Paula much prefers the idea of competing in the Olympics rather than ‘Strictly’ – which features judges Shirley Ballas, 64, Anton Du Beke, 57, Motsi Mabuse, 43, and Craig Revel-Horwood, 59 – and enthused there was “something very special” about the Games taking place every four years.
She said: “There is something very special about the Olympics. It’s the pinnacle for any athlete and all athletes want to be at the top of their game.
“Representing your country is such a privilege and as a commentator, we are so lucky as we have got the best seat in the house.
“We all get on brilliantly – it’s like working with friends.”
Paula praised her family – which includes her husband of more than 23 years Gary Lough, 54, daughter Isla, 17, and son Raphael, 13 – for being there for a “big bulk” of her running career.
She said: “When I look back and think, ‘Would I do my career again?’ – had I not had my family with me for a big bulk of it, it would have made it so much harder.
“This is because [him being there] made it easy to be doing what I loved doing without having to make a sacrifice and being away from family.”

‘We never tolerate unacceptable behaviour’ BBC director-general says sorry over Strictly complaints

OHMYGOSSIP — The BBC director general has apologised to anyone who has had an experience on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ that “hasn’t been wholly positive”.
Tim Davie has told how he felt “disappointed” to hear several celebrity contestants have complained about their time on the show, but he insisted the Latin and ballroom programme will “never tolerate unacceptable behaviour of any kind”.
Speaking at a news briefing following the release of the corporation’s annual report, he said: “I’m very sorry that anyone has had an experience on Strictly that hasn’t been wholly positive.
“That’s something we do need to reflect on and I’m sorry about that.
“There are clearly learnings specifically about oversight in the training rooms that we had needed to address.
“There will be a degree of competitiveness and will to do well, but there are limits and the line should never be crossed. We never tolerate unacceptable behaviour of any kind.”
Davie also encouraged anyone who thinks there was “something wrong” with their ‘Strictly’ experience to “raise that” with the BBC.
He added: “‘Strictly’ is a wonderful show that brings a lot of joy to a lot of people and has done so for 20 years to both those involved with the show and to the millions of people at home.
“Hundreds of people, be they pros, contestants or crew have been part of it and had a brilliant experience.
“At the same time if someone thinks there was something wrong or they want to talk about their experience then of course we want them to raise that with us.
“Be in no doubt we will take it seriously, listen and deal with it as appropriate.
“And while I’m not going to talk about individuals, you can see evidence of that in recent weeks.
“So I hope that anyone who does want to talk to us feels that they can.”
His comments come after pro dancers Graziano Di Prima and Giovanni Pernice both departed the series following allegations about their behaviour in training.
Pernice has denied “any accusations of abusive or threatening behaviour”.
Di Prima was axed amid reports of alleged misconduct relating to how he treated his 2023 dance partner Zara McDermott.
The dancer has since admitted he “deeply regrets” the events that led to his departure, and said his “intense passion and determination to win” might have “affected [his] training regime”.
Zara previously said she “wrestled with the fear of opening up” about her experience on the programme, and claimed there are videos of “particular incidents, which are incredibly distressing to watch”.
A BBC spokesperson previously said: “We can confirm that Graziano Di Prima is no longer a part of the line-up of professional dancers for the upcoming series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
“While we would never comment on individual cases, it is well-known that the BBC has established robust duty of care procedures, and if issues are raised we will always take them seriously and act swiftly as appropriate.”

Kym Marsh: People are generally baffled that I’m a grandmother

OHMYGOSSIP — Kym Marsh says her being a young grandmother “generally baffles people”.
The ex ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star was just 42 years old when she became a granny after her 27-year-old daughter Emilie Mae Cunliffe gave birth to now-five-year-old son Teddy, and her 29-year-old son David welcomed his now-23-month-old son Clayton into the world.
Kym believes some of the things people say to her about being a nan are “quite funny”.
The 48-year-old actress told Closer magazine: “It generally baffles people, and their reactions can be quite funny.
“But when you have children young, inevitably you’re more likely to be a grandparent early on, so I had that in my head for a long time. I love it and I adore my grandchildren.
“I have friends who had grandkids before me and they told me it was a different feeling altogether. I suppose I wondered how that was possible, but it’s true and I feel very lucky that I’m young enough to enjoy my grandchildren and have the energy to run around with them.”
The ‘Morning Live’ host – who has also 13-year-old daughter Polly with her ex-husband Jamie Lomas, 49 – admitted she opted to go by the moniker ‘Yaya’ as the thought of being dubbed ‘Granny’ at her young age left her “a little bit bothered” when the prospect first arrived.
She said: “I was a little bit bothered at the beginning and I was trying to find alternatives, but Teddy just came up with his own name for me, which is Yaya, and we found out later that it’s Greek for grandma. So, I’m Yaya!”

Sharon Stone to star as a villain opposite Bob Odenkirk in Nobody 2

OHMYGOSSIP — Sharon Stone has joined Bob Odenkirk to star in Universal Pictures’ highly anticipated action sequel ‘Nobody 2’.
The pair previously co-starred as agent Iris Burton and Tommy Wiseau in James Franco’s critically acclaimed 2017 biographical comedy, ‘The Disaster Artist’.
According to Deadline, Stone – who rose to fame for her roles in Paul Verhoeven’s films ‘Total Recall’ (1990) and ‘Basic Instinct’ (1992) – will play the villain in ‘Nobody 2’.
The movie is scheduled for release in August 2025, though plot details remain tightly under wraps.
Odenkirk, Derek Kolstad, Aaron Rabin and Umair Aleem are on writing duties, with Kelly McCormick and David Leitch among the producers.
The first movie follows Hutch Mansell (Odenkirk), a father hiding from his past as a deadly government assassin.
When his family is traumatised by a home invasion, Hutch’s dormant rage and skills re-emerge, thrusting him into conflict with a Russian drug lord.
Stone earned an Oscar nomination for her work opposite Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci in the 1995 film ‘Casino’.
News of her role in ‘Nobody 2’ comes weeks after she opened up about having “zero money” following a stroke in 2001 that led to the loss of her $18 million fortune.
The life-changing event took her seven years to recover from, both financially and physically.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Stone said: “People took advantage of me during that time. I had $18 million saved because of all my success, but when I got back into my bank account, it was all gone. My refrigerator, my phone – everything was in other people’s names.”
When asked how she recovered from the stroke, she replied: “I decided to stay present and let go. I decided not to hang onto being sick or to any bitterness or anger. If you bite into the seed of bitterness, it never leaves you. But if you hold faith, even if that faith is the size of a mustard seed, you will survive. So, I live for joy now. I live for purpose.”

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman wanted to exceed ‘sky-high’ expectations with Deadpool and Wolverine

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman were determined to exceed the “sky-high” fan expectations for ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’.
The two actors reprised their respective roles of ‘The Merc with a Mouth’ and the mutant anti-hero in the eagerly-awaited comic book blockbuster, and have now revealed they poured all their efforts into making the picture a fan-favourite instalment into the Marvel Cinematic Universe , as well as satisfying their own desires to do justice to their characters.
Speaking to Deadline, 55-year-old Jackman said: “I think both of us had such high expectations for the movie.
“So, yeah there’s risk because we wanted this to exceed those expectations, and both of these characters mean so much to us.
“Our friendship is one of the most important things in my life. So, we wanted to be as great as we could be, and thankfully for me, it’s exceeded every one.”
Reynolds, 47, added: “Those same tenants could be broadly applied to the audiences of these movies. I mean, their expectations are sky-high.
“And you can’t just meet them, you have to exceed them, not just in one sequence or broadly, in every moment of the movie.
“The thing I’m most proud of is every frame of ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ is thoughtful in the sense that we spent so much time and so much detail, and paid so much attention to the detail in every single moment … and it just pays off.”
The film sees Reynolds’ Deadpool and Jackman’s Wolverine team up to face the reality-warping villain Cassandra Nova, played by Emma Corrin, 28.
While Emma loved appearing alongside the two actors, ‘The Crown’ star admitted it was initially intimidating working with Reynolds due to his incessant improvising.
Emma said: “Actually, he does so much ad-libbing for his own character.
“But anything involving anyone else, he offers stuff up. He’s like, ‘Why don’t you try it this way? That was great. What about this? I just had this idea.’
“It’s a very, ‘Yes, and’ mentality.”

Kevin Feige rules out Eternals sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Feige has confirmed there are no plans for ‘Eternals 2’.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) blockbuster was met with poor reviews when it was released in 2021 and the studio boss has dismissed the prospect of a sequel – although did suggest that certain elements of the story could be revisited.
Kevin told Inverse: “There are no immediate plans for Eternals 2.
“There are, and I think you’ve seen maybe in a trailer we’ve released recently, an acknowledgment of some of those events. Certain giant things came out of the ocean.”
Kumail Nanjiani played the role of Kingo in the picture and admits that he sought counselling after it was savaged by the critics.
He told Michael Rosenbaum’s ‘Inside of You’ podcast: “I knew it wasn’t me. I think that there were a lot of things that went into it. I love that movie and I’m very proud of that movie. I’ve seen that movie a bunch of times because it’s my kind of movie, and a lot of my stuff I don’t watch.
“It was really, really hard because Marvel thought that movie was going to be really, really well reviewed, so they lifted the embargo early and put it in some fancy movie festivals and they sent us on a big global tour to promote the movie right as the embargo lifted.
“The reviews were bad, and I was too aware of it. I was reading every review and checking too much. I think there was some weird soup in the atmosphere for why that movie got slammed so much, and I think not many much of it has to do with the actual quality of the movie.
“It was really hard and that was when I thought it was unfair to me and unfair to Emily (V. Gordon, his wife) and I can’t approach my work this way anymore. Some s***’s gotta change, so I started counseling and I still talk to my therapist about that.”

“Tom’s very busy. He’s got a lot of movies lined up, and he’s a very in-demand actor. So we’ll have to get a good screenplay, and hopefully, he’ll like it as much as we will.”

The 55-year-old actor portrayed circus owner PT Barnum in the 2017 musical blockbuster, and he hasn’t ruled out stepping into the ring again.
Hugh told E! News: “The first one took us eight years.
“Maybe we started five years ago, and it’s gonna be another nine years.
“I love that movie, and I loved everything about it. So yeah, I’m open.”

EastEnders’ Dean Wicks actor ‘surprised’ by outcome of murder trial

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘EastEnders’ star Matt di Angelo says there is a huge twist in the Dean Wicks case that even he was shocked by.
The rapist’s victim, Linda Carter, managed to get him sent down for the murder of Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) after her friend Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) was initially arrested for the crime.
And Matt says even he was “surprised” by the outcome of the upcoming trial.
He told The Mirror: “There’s going to be a trial and I think the outcome of trial surprised me and it wasn’t what I was expecting at all. So hopefully that makes good TV!”
Linda, Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), Denise Fox (Diane Parish), Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth), Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) and Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) make up the six who were there on the night Keanu tried to strangle Sharon before Linda stabbed him at The Queen Vic.
Kellie, whose character is an alcoholic, previously said of keeping the secret: “She has to. If Linda falls, all of the other women fall with her. I honestly don’t think that Linda will ever truly find peace for killing Keanu whilst it remains a secret, but I think the guilt of taking the other women down with her would be too much for Linda to bear. She’s also very aware that her children have already lost one parent, and she doesn’t want them to lose another. Linda has to try and remain strong but as you’ll see this week, her drinking threatens to jeopardise it all.”

Strictly Come Dancing bosses ‘made Anthony Ogogo cover up surgery scar’

OHMYGOSSIP — Anthony Ogogo has claimed ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ bosses made him “cover” up his scar.
The retired boxer turned professional wrestler was recovering from a shoulder injury when he appeared on the BBC’s Latin and ballroom competition in 2015, and while he heaped praise on his “brilliant” dance partner Oti Mabuse, he was disappointed not to be able to display the effects of an infection he caught after surgery.
He told Sky News: “I wanted the scar to show how much pain I was going through but they covered it up and they made a point one day saying ‘we don’t want it on TV’.
“I said ‘I want to show the public to know how much pain I’m going through’ and they made a comment, they were like just ‘cover the scars’.
“They made it clear I had to cover the scars.”
The 35-year-old sportsman – who is contracted to WWE rival All Elite Wrestling (AEW) – was kicked out of the show just three weeks in, despite being told his shoulder injury “wouldn’t be an issue”.
He recalled: “When I did it, they were like ‘oh your shoulder’s bad, maybe it’s time to go home’, that’s the impression I got. It was frustrating. It could’ve been amazing.”
He praised those who have spoken up about their experiences on the show, which has come under fire with allegations of misconduct by professional dancers in rehearsals.
Ogogo admitted he would return to the programme, but added: “I’m not saying you lose free will but you’re very aware you’re in this intense fishbowl of pressure and emotion.
“It’s live TV, the BBC… you want to do really well. I’m a strong-willed person and even I buckled under that pressure.”
pro dancers Graziano Di Prima and Giovanni Pernice both departed the series following allegations about their behaviour in training.
And the BBC director general Tim Davie has since said in a news briefing: “I’m very sorry that anyone has had an experience on Strictly that hasn’t been wholly positive.
“That’s something we do need to reflect on and I’m sorry about that.”
