Crazy Rich Asians sequels set to film back-to-back

OHMYGOSSIP — Two ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ sequels are set to film back-to-back.
The widely acclaimed drama movie – which was released earlier this year – proved to be a global success, earning more than $230 million at the box office, but plans to reunite the cast to shoot a sequel have, perhaps, proven to be more difficult than expected.
Some of the original movie’s cast – which includes the likes of Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Gemma Chan, Sonoya Mizuno, Awkwafina and Michelle Yeoh – have recently emerged as some of the most in-demand stars in Hollywood.
As a result, the two sequels – which will be based on author Kevin Kwan’s follow-up novels ‘China Rich Girlfriend’ and ‘Rich People Problems’ – will be filmed back-to-back, according to producers Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson.
The first of the sequels is unlikely to go into production until 2020, according to Deadline, which reports that Adele Lim and Peter Chiarelli are currently working on a script.
News of the sequels comes shortly after Henry Golding revealed he doesn’t want to be labelled as the “Asian leading man”.
However, the sought-after star said that if it helps to “inspire” others, he’s happy to take the title.
He explained: “I don’t want to be defined as the Asian leading man. I want to be the leading man. Henry Golding.
“If it means helping inspire other Asians to be leading men, hell yeah, I’ll take it. You don’t know how proud I am to have that associated with my name.
“Sadly, we’re so underrepresented that we have to start with these labels to be proud of it, to normalise it. So s**t, I’ll be the next Asian leading man.”

Jennifer Aniston ready for 2019

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Aniston can’t wait for the year to end.
The ‘Dumplin” actress – who announced in February she and her husband Justin Theroux had separated at the end of 2017 – admitted she and her friends haven’t particularly enjoyed 2018 so she’s looking forward to embracing “new beginnings”.
She told USA Today newspaper: “First off, I cannot believe it’s already December. That’s outrageous. I’m excited for ‘Dumplin” to come out.
“And I’m excited for 2018 to move on. It was the year of the dog. I don’t know if there’s one person you can come into contact with who wasn’t like, ‘This year can go [f**k] itself.’ Know what I mean?
“A lot of people passing and a lot of endings that can only create room for new growth and new beginnings. That’s what I’m excited about.”
And the 49-year-old star described the recent California wildfires – which destroyed thousands of homes – and the current volatile political climate as “biblical” but she’s expecting change to come.
She said: “It’s biblical. We’re literally living in biblical times. But I feel like something has got to give.”
But on a positive tone, Jennifer is pleased her old sitcom ‘Friends’ is as popular as ever, following Netflix’s recent announcement they are bowing to public demand and will continue screening old episodes throughout 2019.
She said: “Apparently ‘Friends’ was going to be taken off Netflix. Then it wasn’t. Was there really a frenzy about it? Or a ‘Friend’-sy?”
Asked if she got involved with keeping it on the streaming service, she replied: “I didn’t. It must’ve been the support and love of those ever-faithful ‘Friends’ fans. ‘Friends’ isn’t dead. It’s alive and well.”

Nick Park considers reviving Wallace and Gromit

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Park is considering reviving Wallace and Gromit.
The 60-year-old animator is most famous for creating the clay animation comedy series, which led to multiple film successes – including ‘A Grand Day Out’, ‘The Wrong Trousers’ and ‘A Close Shave’ – and Nick has now revealed he’s been contemplating returning to the stories.
He confessed: “I’ve just been taking a bit of a break and being slightly off the radar for a bit. But I can’t stop.
“I’ve been mulling over and writing ideas. I’d love to come back to Wallace and Gromit, for example. But for me, they’ll always be there. And I can’t help but think of ideas for them. They’re my first love really.”
Nick explained why he particularly relishes working with the characters.
He told Collider: “I remember when I discovered with Gromit, if I just move his brow up-and-down, it sort of said everything. You suddenly imagine the … he had a voice and an expression and a whole personality.
“It’s somehow … clay enabled me to just be very simple and basic with him. And I feel like Gromit was born from clay, really.
“If I could design him on a computer screen, I know you can do fantastic CG animation, as so many people prove it – but for me, it just works as clay. And in a way, that helps now single us out from everything else that’s around.”

Jonah Hill offers to replace Justin Timberlake

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonah Hill has offered to “fill in” for Justin Timberlake on his cancelled tour dates.
The ‘SexyBack’ singer announced earlier this week he was scrapping the remainder of his 2018 live shows due to bruised vocal chords but now the ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ actor has volunteered to step in so fans aren’t left disappointed.
Commenting on Justin’s Instagram post announcing the disappointing news, Jonah wrote: “I have decided to fill in for JT on his remaining dates.
“It’s what we do in our incredibly small circle of people with extraordinary voices. Feel better. I got you until you do.”
The 37-year-old singer postponed a number of shows in October and last week, he shelved his show at Los Angeles’ Staples Centre due to his medical woes, before announcing a few days ago that doctors had told him to take a complete break from performing to allow him time to heal.
He wrote on Instagram: “Hey guys, I’m sure you have heard that I’ve had to postpone several tour dates due to bruised vocal cords. My vocal cords are healing, but they are not all the way back to normal, so my doctors want me to continue to rest my voice. They have asked me to hold off on singing until next month.
“I’m really sorry, I want to be back on the stage and I am doing all I can to get there quickly. Thank you for understanding — I see all of your posts and I appreciate the support and the love. I look forward to coming back stronger than I was before. More to come on the rescheduled dates. (sic)”
The ‘Cry Me a River’ hitmaker had eight remaining dates scheduled for December, and he is due to return to his tour in the new year on January 4 in Washington.

Sam Fender named 2019’s BRITs Critics’ Choice

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Fender is “truly humbled” to be the recipient of the BRITs Critics’ Choice Award 2019.
The ‘Poundshop Kardashians’ singer beat R&B star Mahalia and indie rocker Lewis Capaldi to the prestigious honour, and admitted it was surreal as it was “crazy enough” making the shortlist.
The 24-year-old star said: “I am truly humbled to win The BRITs Critics’ Choice Award.
“Being nominated was crazy enough, never mind winning it.
“I’m so grateful to everyone back home for believing, and to my band and team for all their hard work.
“We’ve played literally hundreds of shows this year, and we’re going to go even harder in 2019.
“Most importantly, a big shout to my fans.
“I’ve met a lot of you over the last few years and it’s truly an honour to get up and play night after night to such a wonderful bunch of people.
“To everyone who’s taken a punt on me so far, thank you. Here’s to next year!”
Sam – who recently released his debut EP ‘Dead Boys’ – found out he had won the accolade whilst in a taxi and his immediate reaction was to scream and “punch” the seats in the car, before getting “absolutely smashed”.
He told Sky News: “We were in a taxi driving back to my manager’s house [when I found out].
” I was driving past my old school, which was very strange, and the label rang, and he put them on loudspeaker and then he was just like, you’ve got it mate, you’ve got it.
“I just started screaming.
“I was punching all the seats in the taxi going completely mad.
“Then I went back to my manager’s house and got absolutely smashed.”
Jason Iley, BRITs Chairman and Chairman and CEO of Sony Music UK & Ireland, commented: “Many congratulations to Sam Fender on winning The BRITs Critics’ Choice Award.
“He is an exceptional young artist, with a bright future ahead of him.
“This award has shone a spotlight on some of the most successful new acts for more than a decade, who between them have sold more than 90 million records, from Adele to Sam Smith, Florence + The Machine to Rag’n’Bone Man.
“I wish Sam the very best and that he enjoys the same success as many of the previous winners have before him.”
Sam will be the first to receive a BRIT designed by Sir David Adjaye OBE.
Adele, Sam Smith and Rag’n’Bone Man are among the previous recipients of the gong.
The 2018 BRIT Awards – sponsored by Mastercard – will take place on February 20 at London’s The O2 arena, and will be hosted once again by Jack Whitehall.

Gwen Stefani’s Christmas gift struggle

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have ruined their Christmas surprises for one another.
The No Doubt singer admitted she’s found it “hard” to choose the perfect present for her boyfriend because he already has “everything” and they each pretend they’re simply not going to bother buying gifts.
Speaking on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’, she said: “It’s so hard. He has everything. I feel like we were both sitting there going, ‘Promise me you’re not going to get me anything. Let’s just not get gifts this time.’ ”
The 49-year-old singer thought she’d found the perfect gift for the ‘Voice’ coach because she knew he needed a leaf blower, but after browsing the selection on offer on the Home Depot website, she made a terrible mistake when she asked her assistant to look at the one with the best reviews.
She explained: “I sent it to this group text with all of our friends on it on accident. So he wrote back and said, ‘Yeah, that’s the perfect gift!’
“I blew it with the leaf blower! He confessed that he had actually bought one a week ago already.”
But Blake, 42, has had equally bad luck when it came to getting a gift for Gwen, coming up with what he thought was the perfect present after they browsed Black Friday sales together – only for her to buy the same item for herself.
She said: “He helped me because he’s my best friend. And I’m like, you know, ‘Do you like this jacket? I’m gonna get it, no it’s too expensive. I’m not going to get it.’ But then I got it.
“So he saw it and snuck bought it behind my back, but then when it came and I had it, he was like, ‘I got you that! That was your Christmas present!’ so now I have two of them.”

Bring Me The Horizon’s Oli Sykes says rap is the new punk

OHMYGOSSIP — Oli Sykes thinks hip hop is the new punk.
The Bring Me The Horizon frontman has put what he sees as the “boring” rock scene on notice and suggested rappers are bringing the energy and excitement that the genre has started to lack.
Speaking to Music Week, he said: “That’s why rappers are almost the new rock’n’roll or punk or whatever. Rock’s gone soft, it’s gone miserable and boring, there’s not really much exciting about it.
“So it’s important that we cross over, because we feel like we belong more in a place where people just like music and it’s not about how heavy it is.”
The 32-year-old star also commented on the band’s more commercial sound as they expand their musical horizons from their heavier beginnings.
He suggested as long as the songs remain “exciting and exhilarating”, they will still stand out from the crowd.
He explained: “Even if it’s a poppier song, it’s a million times more exciting than the shit you hear on the radio. It’s emotional, it’s got depth, and it’s always going to grab you and make you feel something.”
Meanwhile, the group had to speak out earlier this month after a fan tragically died at their show at Alexandra Palace in London.
Speaking on Twitter the morning after the incident, BMTH wrote: “Words cannot express how horrified we are feeling this evening after hearing about the death of a young man at our show last night.
“Our hearts and deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones at this terrible time. We will comment further in due course.”

Coronation Street stars to take on Army Tug of War team

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ stars will take on the Army Tug of War team in a special festive forces show.
Simon Gregson – who plays Steve McDonald on the ITV soap – Antony Cotton (Sean Tully), Victoria Ekanoye (Angie Appleton) and Melanie Hill (Cathy Matthews) teamed up with crew and supporting cast members to take on the Army’s official team for Christmas programme ‘Totally Christmas’.
The compilation show will air on Forces TV on Christmas Eve (24.12.18) and feature messages sent from military families to their loved ones back home and overseas, as well as the tug of war challenge.
Antony was shocked to find out the army even had such a team.
He wrote on Twitter: “I have just found out that the @BritishArmy has an actual Tug O’War team. All arms and official. Who knew?!?! (sic)”
One of the tuggers tweeted him saying: “Thank you all for giving up your lunch hour to spend it on the end of the rope with some of the Army Tug of War team. It was a great afternoon and we thank you all. (sic)”
‘Corrie’ took on the Army in three “pulls”, but fans will have to tune into the show to see what the final score was.
It’s not the first time the ‘Corrie’ cast have taken part in a tug of war.
The soap’s 1967 Christmas Day (25.12.67) episode saw character Albert Tatlock (Jack Howarth) getting some of the residents together for a tug of war between the Rovers Return pub and rivals The Flying Horse.
Albert managed the Rovers team, which featured a younger Ken Barlow (Bill Roache), and Jimmy Leadbetter (Bud Ralston) did the same for The Flying Horse.
Sadly for Albert, The Flying Horse team ran out easy winners.
‘Totally Christmas’ airs on Christmas Eve at 12pm on Forces TV in the UK and on Forces Radio BFBS.

Lily Rose-Depp doesn’t get fashion advice from dad

OHMYGOSSIP — Lily Rose-Depp doesn’t take fashion advice from her father Johnny Depp.
The 19-year-old model – whose mother is Vanessa Paradis – has admitted the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor’s quirky fashion sense hasn’t rubbed off on her, and she usually goes to her 45-year-old fashion model mom for outfit inspiration.
When asked if she takes inspiration from the 55-year-old star, she replied: “I always look to my mom more for fashion advice.”
Lily-Rose also confessed she still steals Vanessa’s clothes and accessories.
She told E! News: “I would always steal anything I could get my hands on.
“Definitely a lot of handbags and shoes up until the age I could start wearing her clothes, and then I would just take it all.
“It’s less of a trade and more I take her things and don’t give them back.”
Meanwhile, Lily previously revealed she has worn Chanel since she was a baby.
The style icon – who starred in her first campaign for the fashion house in 2015 – has been adorning the designer brand’s garments ever since she was a baby, and the “first memory” she has of her wearing the label is when she used play dress up with her mother’s expensive clothes.
She said: “My first memory of wearing Chanel was probably when I was still in diapers, going into my mom’s closet and picking out her Chanel heels and her dresses and stuff, even though I was swimming in them.
“I would put on all her Chanel stuff and carry around her bags and everything, so it was probably my first dress up memory as well.”
And it is not only the prestigious label that has been in Lily’s life for many years, but the brand’s creative director Karl Lagerfeld, as she has revealed the mogul was always present during her childhood.
Speaking about the 85-year-old creative mastermind, she said: “I’ve known [Karl] since I was eight – he’s definitely somebody who has been in my life since I was little. I definitely have a lot of Chanel memories growing up.”
And Lily has hailed Karl for his innovative designs.
She said: “The amount of stuff that he comes up with…the amount of creativity in his head, that he creates each year and has created over his entire life, the different ideas he has had. He’s really somebody who has managed to evolve but never stray from this level of artistry and precision. But at the same thing he’s never done the same thing twice.”

Nick Knowles apologises for budgie smugglers on I’m A Celebrity

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Knowles has publicly apologised for wearing his red budgie smugglers on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’
The 56-year-old television presenter – who is best known for his work on ‘DIY SOS’ and ‘Who Dares Wins’ – has said he’s sorry for walking around the jungle in a pair of revealing red pants, claiming that it was the only thing he had to wear.
He spoke to ‘This Morning’ today (07.12.18) and said: “Can I publicly apologise for the red budgie smugglers. It was literally all I had to wear!”
Nick became the sixth celebrity to leave the jungle this series, as he lost out on a place in this weekend’s final during Thursday’s (06.12.18) episode of the ITV reality competition.
Nick follows in the footsteps of TV legend Noel Edmonds, ‘Hollyoaks’ star Malique Thompson-Dwyer, ‘Coronation Street’ actress Sair Khan, actress Rita Simons, and ‘The Chase’ quiz brain Anne Hegerty, who have all been kicked out of camp since voting opened last week.
He admitted that he liked keeping himself busy in the jungle and says that he ran a laundry service for his camp mates by making a washing line from old sheets.
He said: “It was a sheet that I had ripped into strips – it turned out to make this really amazing rope. It had been raining for like two days straight and nobody had any clothes.
“I was stuck in camp with nothing to do. So I made a rope – and it worked, which amazed me more than anybody else! So I managed to get everyone’s clothes dry during the day. It was like I was running a laundry all day!”
Now, just five camp mates – Harry Redknapp, Fleur East, Emily Atack, James McVey, and John Barrowman – are left battling it out for a place in Sunday’s (09.12.18) final, where one celebrity will be crowned King or Queen of the jungle.

Eva Longoria praises L’Oreal for championing women

OHMYGOSSIP — Eva Longoria has praised L’Oreal for championing women and their “struggle” for power.
The 43-year-old star – who is an ambassador for L’Oreal Paris – has opened up about the difficulties, and said the huge brand is helping with its ‘You’re worth it’ slogan.
Speaking at the company’s annual Women of Worth Awards, Eva said: “We’re finding our voices and our power every day, and there’s a struggle to do that in every industry — not just Hollywood, in every industry — so to see a big company like L’Oréal doing the work and representing this slogan, which is, ‘You’re worth it,’ making sure women are finding their worth in life, is really important.”
Meanwhile, the proud mum gave birth to her first child – son Santiago – with her husband Jose ‘Pepe’ Baston in June, and she hasn’t felt any outside pressure to get her pre-baby body back.
She told Extra: “Well, I don’t really succumb to any pressures outside of myself, but I really gave my body time to heal and just embrace…
“I was breastfeeding and just enjoying postpartum and basking in his energy and this beautiful life I created, and so I was very forgiving to my body because it created a human!
“It’s just now I’m starting to get back to working out and dieting… but not even hardcore, just like, you know what? Let’s start… let’s start to do some movements, see what happens.”
The ‘Desperate Housewives’ star recently revealed she is on a “very serious” weight training programme and being more careful with her diet, but she’s happy she didn’t rush getting back into exercise and gave her body the time it needed to recover.
She said: “I still love yoga, but my workouts now are more weight training. Very serious weight training.
“I really gave my body time to adjust to postpartum and post-pregnancy. You know, it had a baby! It created a human life, so I really wasn’t too hard about getting back into shape.
“Now I’m working out a lot more and watching what I eat. I’m barely starting to get back into it.”

Daleks returning for Doctor Who New Year’s Day special

OHMYGOSSIP — The Daleks will return to ‘Doctor Who’ for the New Year’s Day special.
The one-off episode of the popular science fiction show – which will follow the finale of the current series this weekend – will feature the return of the Time Lord’s most iconic rival.
As reported by the Mirror, Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor will face the evil cyborgs for the first time when they make a comeback after more than three years.
The merciless villains were last seen in 2015’s ‘The Witch’s Familiar’ when Peter Capaldi was still in the TARDIS.
It’s said the memorable foe will be getting a bit of a makeover for the upcoming special – which is airing on January 1 instead of its typical Christmas Day (25.12.18) slot – as they’ll lose their bronze look in favour of something new.
It comes after the new showrunner Chris Chibnall banned old monsters for his first series as he sought to put his own stamp on the show.
He previously said: “There are no old monsters. OK?”
He also teased it was only “this year” he was keeping them out, and he looks to have decided to start 2019 in a big way.
Daleks – which were created by Terry Nation – were first seen in 1963 when William Hartnell was playing the first Doctor.
The report comes after it was revealed Charlotte Ritchie, Nikesh Patel and Daniel Adegboyega will star in the New Year’s Day episode.
Details of their roles in the upcoming special are being largely kept under wraps, but the former ‘Call the Midwife’ star will play a character called Lin, Nikesh – who is best known for his role in ‘Indian Summers’ – is to portray Mitch, and ‘Save Me’ actor Daniel will play Aaron.
This year will be the first since 2005 that there has been no Christmas Day episode of the sci-fi saga so BBC bosses previously teased the New Year special will be “spectacular”.
The broadcaster said: “With 2018 marking a brand new era for ‘Doctor Who’, it is only right that 2019 kicks off in spectacular style…
“In this year’s festive episode the Tardis will travel through the time vortex from its traditional timeslot on Christmas Day and will land in style on New Year’s Day.”
The hour-long episode will see the Doctor – who is portrayed by Jodie Whittaker – and her companions Ryan (Tosin Cole), Graham (Bradley Walsh) and Yaz (Mandip Gill) arrive home and discover a new alien threat to Earth.

Holly Willoughby to brave the Cyclone on I’m A Celebrity

OHMYGOSSIP —
Holly Willoughby will brave the Cyclone on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
The 37-year-old TV presenter will take part in a Bushtucker Trial as part of the climax of the series – which she is guest hosting alongside Declan Donnelly – despite previously insisting she wouldn’t do any trials on the Australian jungle-based show.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “It’s very unique as hosts don’t normally do trials.
“The only other time was when Ant and Dec did Cyclone for Text Santa one year.
“Holly was adamant that she would not be doing a trial either but since she has got out here things have gone so well and the ITV2 ‘Extra Camp’ team managed to persuade her to take part. It is one of her favourite trials so she couldn’t say no.
“It will be the perfect end to a brilliant stint hosting the show with Dec which has gone down better than anyone could have dreamed of.”
The blonde beauty will be taking on the Cyclone, where she will climb up a hill carrying a giant foam star to a certain point whilst being hit by high pressure water cannons, gale force winds and giant balls.
Holly will join ‘Extra Camp’ presenters Scarlett Moffatt, Joe Swash and Joel Dommett to do the Cyclone on Saturday, with the results screened later that night at 10pm.
She attempted to do a Bushtucker Trial on ‘This Morning’ last month, when she put her hands into boxes to identify what was inside, to which she screamed profusely.
Now, just five camp mates – Harry Redknapp, Fleur East, Emily Atack, James McVey, and John Barrowman – are left battling it out for a place in Sunday’s (09.12.18) final, where one celebrity will be crowned King or Queen of the Jungle.

Julia Haworth filmed Doctors Christmas scenes in summer holidays

OHMYGOSSIP — Julia Haworth shot her ‘Doctors’ Christmas scenes in the middle of the summer holidays.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ actress – who played Claire Peacock on the ITV soap from 2003 to 2011 – has joined the BBC One daytime soap as Laura, who is keen to have a baby with her husband, and she thought it was “bonkers” doing festive filming in the Birmingham heat.
She said: “This is the earliest I’ve filmed Christmas scenes.
“We had to have fake snow for Claire and Ashley’s Christmas Day wedding, which we shot in October, but at least it was cold then.
“It was the middle of the summer holidays filming Christmas at ‘Doctors’, which was bonkers.”
The 39-year-old actress – who has two kids – admits her “sensitive” ‘Doctors’ storyline has made her consider “what is important” in her life.
She told Inside Soap magazine: “Laura is a fascinating character, she really is.
“She and Russell are going through IVF, which is having a massive impact on their lives.
“It’s a very sensitive storyline, which midwife Ruhma becomes involved with – and it impacts her life as well as Laura’s.
“It’s one of those stories that makes you consider what’s important.”
Julia recently revealed she is training to be a teacher at Bolton College in between acting jobs.
She said: “As an actor still working professionally within the entertainment industry, the knowledge and skills I am teaching to the Performing Arts students here at Bolton College are 100 per cent up to date, accurate and relevant.
“This is imperative in a rapidly changing industry and in helping the learners with their future employability.”

Mary Berry wraps Christmas turkey in a sleeping bag

OHMYGOSSIP — Mary Berry wraps her Christmas turkey in a sleeping bag.
The former ‘Great British Bake Off’ judge has been cooking the festive bird for the past few years, despite her daughter Annabel hosting Christmas dinner for their family one-hour drive from the 83-year-old star’s house.
As a result, Mary has to take precautions to ensure the turkey keeps warm on her travels, so she uses one of the padded bags to make sure the meat remains in-tact on her Christmas Day jaunt.
She is quoted by The Sun’s Bizarre TV column as saying: “For the past couple of years, I’ve been to my children and I always take the turkey, which people think is odd. I went to my daughter Annabel’s last year.
“She cooks most of the things, but I cook the turkey.
“It’s an hour away, so I cook it in my own oven but then it’s done a couple of hours early so I wrap it in foil, cover it in a sleeping bag then stick it in the boot of the car.”
Mary may well have needed her sleeping bag for getting some shut-eye in earlier this year when she jetted off to Morocco and Italy to shoot her new show, ‘Mary Berry’s Quick Cooking’, which will see her exploring the delights of musical festival delicacies.
A source said at the time: “It’s Mary Berry as we’ve never seen her before and audiences are going to love every minute.
“She is a dream to work with and will pretty much say yes to all of the team’s wacky ideas. It’s refreshing to see such an established personality up for reinventing herself.”

Michael B Jordan recalls ‘exhausting’ preparations for Creed II

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael B Jordan’s preparation for ‘Creed II’ was “worse” than the original movie.
The 31-year-old actor – who has reprised his role as Adonis Creed for the new film – has admitted to hating the exhausting experience of getting himself in shape to star in the boxing movie.
He confessed: “For the first [film], there’s no way I could imagine what I was going to be doing – the second time around, it was worse.
“I have to believe when stepping into the ring, I am a fighter. I would work out to exhaustion day in and day out. Sometimes twice a day, going home with swollen knuckles and all.
“To get in shape, we definitely amped up the cardio along with the boxing, which itself is an amazing workout, two times a day, every day for six weeks.”
The painful fight scenes also meant Michael needed to make multiple trips to the hospital.
But the Hollywood star has insisted he didn’t allow the bumps and bruises to discourage him.
Michael – who appears alongside Tessa Thompson and Sylvester Stallone in the new movie – told the Belfast Telegraph newspaper: “It’s a badge of honour, honestly. We’re making an action film and if you’re not getting hurt, then you ain’t trying hard enough.
“So I feel like it just means that we were putting it all on the line for the perfect shot. For the perfect scene.”
