Mission Ignition host Howard Donald loves to race classic cars

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Mission Ignition’ host Howard Donald has revealed he races classic cars every year at the Goodwood Revival and dresses in 1950s race clothes.
The Take That singer has teamed up with retired racing driver Dario Franchitti, 45, for the four-part Channel 4 series.
Each 60-minute episode sees two classic cars taken to pieces and then Howard – who worked as a panel beater and vehicle sprayer before joining Take That – and Dario have to work to put them back together with two teams of amateur car enthusiasts and the first team to rebuild their car is allowed to keep the vehicle.
The 50-year-old pop star admits the brainchild behind the programme is his own love of classic motors and he makes it his mission to go to the September meet-up at the Goodwood Circuit, in Chichester, England, to indulge his racing driver dream because it his “passion” away from music.
In an interview on ITV show ‘Lorraine’, he said: “I do racing as a passion, it’s not necessarily serious that’s for the big boys. I like to do historic racing and not modern racing. I do the Goodwood thing every year and I dress up in the 40s or 50s gear. I recommend it to anyone! It’s the best.
“It’s completely different. You are driving the car, it’s got gears, it doesn’t have any driving aids where it will stop you from crashing. You’re driving for your life really.”
Howard would like to do more racing but his four children – the youngest of which is his two-year-old son Dougie, whom he raises with his wife Katie Hall – get in the way of his hobby.
He added: “It’s actually getting the time do it because race meetings are on weekends and I’ve got four children so it’s a bit of a balancing act. But when I can, I do.”
The first episode of ‘Mission Ignition’ airs on Channel 4 on March 30 at 8:30pm.

Sam Reece turned to meditation after feeling ‘down’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Emmerdale’ newcomer Sam Reece says meditation “really helped” him to feel better when he was feeling “so down”.
The 26-year-old hunk landed a role in the ITV soap as B&B guest Mr Palmer, who was caught getting up to no good in the showers with a female guest on Thursday’s (28.03.19) episode, but off-screen he has encouraged people to talk if they are going through a difficult period in their lives.
Sam – who shot to fame when he appeared on Channel 4 show ‘First Dates’ in 2015 – told MailOnline: “Last year I went to see a counsellor twice. They recommended I try meditation, so I downloaded the HeadSpace app and it’s really helped.
“I didn’t know why I was so down, and talking to someone about how I was feeling made a massive difference.
“It’s important to speak to family and friends when you’re having a tough time, but sometimes talking to someone you know can work too.
“With everything that’s happened recently and the sad death of Mike Thalassitis, it’s more important than ever to raise awareness of mental health struggles, especially for men.”
Sam is more familiar with ‘Hollyoaks’, or at least cast member Stephanie Davis (Sinead Shelby), who he previously dated, but he doesn’t appear to talk to her much nowadays.
When asked if he is still in contact with Steph, he replied: “Who?”
And the star admits he is pleased to have hooked up with his current girlfriend, school teacher Rachel.
Quizzed about her, he said: “Being with someone normal is the best thing I’ve ever done. I only wish I’d done it sooner.”

Katie Jarvis ‘leaves EastEnders’

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie Jarvis has left ‘EastEnders’.
The 27-year-old actress hasn’t been seen on screen as her character Hayley Slater for nearly two months, and she looks unlikely to return to Albert Square in the near future.
Katie’s last scene aired on February 8th, and an ‘EastEnders’ source has told Digital Spy that there are no current plans for her to return to Walford.
This comes just weeks after Katie took to Twitter to allege she had been “glassed” for no reason.
Katie – who now appears to have deleted her Twitter account – wrote at the time: “Big thank you to the Met police tonight and ambulance service for looking after me after I was glassed by a drunken Irish man for f*** all (sic)”
And she later clarified she was “absolutely fine”.
She wrote: “OK to put people’s minds, and questions to rest. I am absolutely fine thank you so much for all your concern and checking in on me but I’m a solider and been through hell of alot worse. (sic)”
Katie was involved in a big storyline over the Christmas period when Hayley pushed Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) down the stairs, leaving her and the rest of the Slater clan fearing he was dead, but he made a miraculous recovery.
Before leaving Walford, Hayley left her and Alfie’s baby, Cherry, in the care of the Slater clan.
In December, Katie was left feeling “humbled” after she won the Best Soap Talent accolade in Nothing But’s TV Awards.
She tweeted: “To say I’m extremely humbled by this award is an understatement.
Thank you so much to every one who took the time to vote for me. It really does mean so much and I hope i can continue to make all my supporters proud (sic)”

Former Beatles booking manager Joe Flannery dead

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Flannery has died aged 87.
The Beatles’ booking manager, who was often regarded as the “Secret Beatle”, passed away at his home in Aigburth, Merseyside, north west England, after being unwell “for the past month”.
Joe’s nephew Norman Meek said in a statement: “He had been unwell for the past month but he was still making plans for the future.
“Fans from all over the world would call at his home and he was always happy to speak with them.
“He had a song, ‘Much Missed Man’, and I’m sure the city would agree with that sentiment.”
The Cavern Club – where The Beatles played numerous shows in their early years – paid tribute to his life.
A post on the venue’s official Twitter account read: “We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Joe Flannery, a lifelong friend and business associate of Brian Epstein and friend of The Cavern Club.
“Everyone at The Cavern, Beatleweek and all who met him over the years will miss him dearly and our thoughts are with his family.”
Joe was a lifelong friend of the band’s manager Brian Epstein, and was the group’s booking manager from 1962 to 1963.
His association with the ‘Love Me Do’ hitmakers started in 1959 when his flat in Stoneycroft, a district of Liverpool, acted as a meeting place for Merseyside bands such as The Beatles.
He became friends with the group and would often let them sleep at his flat and drive them home the following morning.
Joe once gave a young George Harrison – who died in 2001 aged 58 – driving lessons.
He described his time with the group during their early years as “very exciting”.
Writing in his book ‘Standing in the Wings: The Beatles, Brian Epstein and Me’, he said: “It was a very exciting time. The Beatles were more with me than Brian in the early days.”
Joe is said to have been planning to travel to Norway for a Beatles convention right up until his death.

Keith Richards’ debut solo album gets ‘second coming’

OHMYGOSSIP — Keith Richards is glad his debut solo album ‘Talk is Cheap’ is “getting a second coming” for its 30th anniversary.
The Rolling Stones rocker released his first solo album three decades ago, and is reissuing the title in celebration of the milestone, which he thinks is “great” because it proves the timelessness of his music.
He said: “It’s great the album is getting a second coming. I had a feeling the first time wasn’t enough and that the record would hang through time. It’s proved to be true. It’s an, ‘I told you so!'”
Keith, 75, says he’s still “amazed” when he goes back and listens to the album’s tracks including ‘Take It So Hard’ and ‘Make No Mistake’, as he says he wrote the songs with the intention they would “last”.
He added: “I made these songs to last. I’m amazed listening to them now. Good music transcends fashions and what a bunch of guys!
“Let’s face it, one huge band in a lifetime is enough for anyone but putting together another lot with the same feel and tightness was incredible.”
Alongside Keith’s solo reissue, he’s also been hard at work on the 24th Rolling Stones studio album, and says he couldn’t be happier with the material he and his band mates – including Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts, and Ronnie Wood – are putting together.
The ‘Paint It Black’ hitmaker said: “We’re working on the album. We’ve got the first bits done and I’m looking forward to getting back in after this tour. Charlie Watts is playing his a**e off!
“He’s absolutely amazing. It’s indescribable to find a drummer like Charlie Watts, exceptionally brilliant.
“I can never praise Charlie enough and I can praise Mick Jagger 99 per cent of the time.
“Mick knows what I mean and he’ll say the same about me. Things happen between Mick and me because it’s just two guys working together. You only hear about the odd bust-up. I love the man 99 per cent of the time.”

Westlife thought they wouldn’t have fans during their reunion

OHMYGOSSIP — Westlife were “nervous” about reuniting, as they worried they wouldn’t have any fans.
The Irish boy band – made up of Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily, and Shane Filan, and previously including Brian McFadden – made a comeback in 2018 after disbanding in 2012 following a 14-year career, and they’ve now said they were “relieved” to see they still have devoted fans despite the six year break.
Mark said: “We were nervous coming back after so long, would the [fans] still be there? Would they still want to come and see us? It was obviously just a huge relief to know that they were all still there and actually there are even more people there than before. The tickets sold out faster and between that and the new album that we’re currently making we just feel so lucky, we really appreciate this, we don’t take it for granted.”
The ‘Flying Without Wings’ hitmakers were “secretive” about their plans to reform when they first started having meetings, but their “cover was completely blown” when a meeting at Nicky’s house went wrong.
Nicky recalled: “We were all secretive because we didn’t want anyone to know, we didn’t tell anybody, it was just the four of us on email and we said we’d meet at my house, half past two, be there. At about twenty to three I’m [looking at my watch] thinking ‘the boys are a bit late’ then the boys arrive and said, ‘We’ve just knocked into the neighbours garden and knocked over the plant pot and she went, ‘Ah hi guys, Nicky lives next door.’ So our cover was completely blown.”
And now that several of the members have partners and children, they’ve said they’re able to look at their upcoming tour in a new light, as they’re “older and wiser” than they were when they started out in 1998.
Speaking during an appearance on ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’ – which airs on Saturday (30.03.19) – Shane said: “We’re older and wiser, we’ve got kids and families and stuff and they’re getting to see what Daddy does for a living for the first time and really understand it and it’s just mind blowing, it’s amazing.”

Jamie Lawson to write for other artists

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Lawson wants to write hits for other artists.
The 43-year-old singer-songwriter became the first artist signed to Ed Sheeran’s record label Gingerbread Man Records in 2015, and he’s now revealed he’d love to follow in Ed’s footsteps and write more material for other singers, because he’s already dabbled in the process and “really enjoyed” it.
He said: “I have written with some other artists, they’ve not seen the light of day yet, but I really enjoyed the process. It’s definitely something I want to do more of in the future, and I’m hoping those opportunities reveal themselves more.
“I am always trying to write or brainstorm ideas whenever I can.”
But the ‘Wasn’t Expecting That’ musician says there’s no competition between himself and Ed when it comes to songwriting, as he insists the ‘Castle on the Hill’ hitmaker often gives him “constructive thoughts” on his work.
Jamie added: “He’s a massive, massive star, to have someone of that magnitude on your side, and offering opinions, and constructive thoughts you have to listen! Ed knows what he’s on about.”
And Jamie already has a list of artists he’d love to work with, including a plan to nab Ed’s touring buddy and regular collaborator Anne-Marie, whom he says it would be “an honour” to team up with.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, Jamie said: “We spent a bit of time over the summer in the next room to Anne-Marie, probably annoying her warming up when we sing silly songs – our way of warming up – but we’ve not collaborated yet. I like her stuff and it would be an honour to do something.”

Kate Hudson turned down 10 Things I Hate About You

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Hudson turned down a role in ’10 Things I Hate About You’ because her mother Goldie Hawn didn’t like the script.
The film’s casting director Marcia Ross has revealed that the iconic roles of Kat and Patrick in the 1999 romantic comedy, which were eventually played by Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger, were tested by several stars, including Kate, 39, who didn’t go for the role as Goldie, 73, didn’t feel the script was “right for her”.
Speaking to The New York Times newspaper, Marcia said: “We screen-tested Josh Hartnett, Eliza Dushku, Heath and Julia, but Julia and Heath just had the best chemistry together. I loved Katie Holmes. She was about to get ‘Dawson’s Creek’ and we had to make a decision really fast. The other person I loved was Kate Hudson. But her mom [Goldie Hawn] didn’t like the script for her, so she passed.”
The film’s director Gil Junger also revealed that she knew Heath – who tragically died in 2008 at the age of 28 following a cardiac arrest brought on by an accidental drugs overdose – was the right person for the role immediately and said the late star’s “sexual energy” was “palpable”.
She said: “Heath walked in, and I thought to myself, if this guy can read, I’m going to cast him. There was an energy to him, a sexuality that was palpable. I just wanted to see how fast his mind would adapt, comedically. After 35 seconds, I said, ‘OK. Fantastic.’
“But I could tell he was nervous that he blew it, because the audition was so quick, and I said, ‘No, no. You’re a very talented guy, and I really appreciate you coming in.”
“The instant the door closed, I turned to the women in the room and said, ‘Ladies, I have never wanted to sleep with a man, but if I had to sleep with a man, that would be the man. Please cast him immediately.”

Justin Theroux and Pierce Brosnan join False Positive

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Theroux and Pierce Brosnan have joined ‘False Positive’.
The stars are part of the cast of A24’s latest horror film which will see Justin, 47, and Ilana Glazer, 31, play a couple struggling to conceive who look to a fertility doctor, portrayed by Pierce, 65, who tricks them by getting her pregnant with his own sperm, according to Collider.
Zainab Jah, Gretchen Mol, Sophia Bush, and Josh Hamilton have also joined the ensemble cast and production will start next week in New York.
John Lee is directing from a script he co-wrote with Glazer, and both Lee and Glazer are producing alongside Jonathan Wang.
The movie is based on the horrifying true story of Doctor Donald Cline, who in the 1970s and 1980s used his own sperm to approximately 50 women and while he was eventually stripped of his medical license he didn’t face any legal repercussions for his crimes.
This summer, former James Bond star Pierce returned to the ‘Mamma Mia!’ franchise in ‘Mamma Mia 2! Here We Go Again’ as well as the AMC series ‘The Son’.
Following his critically acclaimed HBO show the ‘Leftovers’, Justin has recently been seen in Paramount’s ‘Bumblebee’, Focus Features’ ‘On the Basis of Sex’, in which he appeared opposite Felicity Jones and Armie Hammer, and most recently ‘The Spy Who Dumped Me’ alongside Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon.
On action scenes in ‘The Spy Who Dumped Me,’ Justin said: “I really enjoy it. I sort of equate it to something like a dance or something. There’s like nine steps to a scene where you do a thing, you break someone’s neck and then you pull a gun and then you hit them over the head, then you throw some hot water … I kind of like nerding out on trying to perfect those dance moves in a way.”

Dame Judi Dench fears being out of work

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Judi Dench never turns down a role as she fears she’ll never be offered a job again.
The Oscar-winning actress has admitted that, despite an illustrious career in film and theatre which spans over 60 years, she always takes a part if it is offered to her as it could be the “last job I’m going to be asked to do”.
In an interview with The Daily Telegraph newspaper, she said: “No I can’t turn things down. If I’m offered a job I always do it because I think it’s the last job I’m going to be asked to do.”
When asked whether she worries that the parts will dry up if she takes a break, she added: “Well of course, why ever would I not think that?”
The 83-year-old British star also spoke about her dry and wet macular degeneration diagnosis – with the former causing blurry vision, while the latter can cause blind spots.
Judi has joked that the slow deterioration of her vision does have a “silver lining” because she has to stand very close to people to see them “which is handy with the fellas”.
She said: “I can only see someone when I’m six inches away now.
“I have to get very close to people and I mean extremely close which is handy with the fellas. Wonderful really, you have to find a silver lining don’t you.”
Judi will soon star in the upcoming big screen adaption of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit musical ‘Cats’ in which she will play Old Deuteronomy and the star – who was due play Grizabella in the original West End production of ‘Cats’ in 1981, until she was forced to withdraw through injury – will appear alongside the likes of Idris Elba, Taylor Swift, James Corden, Jennifer Hudson and Sir Ian McKellen.

Robbie Williams needs ‘musical Viagra’

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams “needs musical Viagra” to get him in the mood.
The 45-year-old singer is currently working on a new album with longtime collaborator Guy Chambers, and the songwriter has now revealed Robbie needs something exciting to get him ready for a recording session, as he isn’t excited by a simple guitar in the same way he was 20 years ago.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, Guy said: “To get him in the mood he needs musical Viagra – when he was 22 he didn’t need any of that, the guitar was enough.”
Guy – who wrote Robbie’s hit single ‘Angels’ – also described the former Take That star’s upcoming record as “varied”, and said it features a “cornucopia of sounds”.
Alongside working with Robbie, Guy is also set to release his debut solo album entitled ‘Go Gentle Into The Light’ on May 3, which features a host of tracks originally recorded by Robbie reimagined as piano instrumentals by Guy.
The musician recorded all the music on his 55th birthday last year in a single session at the world famous Abbey Road Studios in London.
Speaking about the record, Chambers said: “I chose the music that I thought would lend itself to solo piano, they were not chosen as part of a greatest hits exercise. I learnt a lot about the songs.
“I thought it would be nice for them to be heard in their pure melodic form. It was a little gift to myself.”
The album will be preceded by the single ‘The Road To Mandalay’ and other songs on the tracklist include ‘Go Gentle’, ‘No Regrets’, ‘Angels’ and ‘Millennium’.
Meanwhile, Guy and Robbie also recently collaborated to pen the music and songs for upcoming stage musical ‘The Boy In The Dress’ – which is an adaptation of David Walliams’ children’s novel of the same name.
The songs from the show are also set to be released as an album.

Emma Bunton ‘rekindles romance’ with Jade Jones on new track

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Bunton has “rekindled her romance” with Jade Jones on her new track ‘All I Need To Get By’.
The 43-year-old Spice Girl paid homage to Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s 1968 motown classic with a stripped back cover version of the song, which features the vocals from her longterm partner Jade.
The release of the track marks the third song to be released from her highly anticipated new album ‘My Happy Place’, and Emma has admitted recording with Jade was a “romantic” and “lovely moment” for the pair.
In a statement Emma said: “We loved being in the studio together, it was quite romantic after all these years. It was a lovely moment of us as a couple.”
Jade added: “We worked together when I was in Damage, but that was in a group situation. Now being older, it was like rekindling our romance again.”
‘My Happy Place’ is a brand new collection of 10 songs, which have been recorded over the last two years, and features special collaborations with Josh Kumra, Will Young and Robbie Williams, who features on a brand new version of the Spice Girls hit ‘2 Become 1’.
And Emma says she picked the album’s name for a sentimental reason.
She added: “The reason I called the album ‘My Happy Place’ is because my happy place is with my family, with my friends, listening to music and being in the studio. All those things came together on this album. While recording it my kids came to the studio, my friends came down, my mum listened to every song over and over again.
“Being in the studio I just feel so happy. As you get older you feel more confident because actually your priorities change, and my family have become my focus, but this album is like the icing on the cake. Being able to write, record and perform is definitely that extra sprinkle of magic”.
‘My Happy Place’ is set to be released on April 12.

Slick Woods was ‘spanked’ by Rihanna when she was in labour at fashion show

OHMYGOSSIP — Slick Woods was “spanked” by Rihanna when she was in labour at the Savage x Fenty Lingerie Show.
The 22-year-old model famously gave birth to her first son Saphir – who she shares with fellow model Adonis Bosso – just hours after walking the runway at the ‘Work’ hitmaker’s New York Fashion Week Savage x Fenty Lingerie Presentation in Brooklyn last September.
And the American beauty – who walked the runway wearing nipple pasties, thigh-highs, and stilettos – revealed that she was already “2cm dilated” when she left for the hospital, and her “last memory” before rushing out of the show was Rihanna “spanking” her with a “whip”.
She said: “My last memory before going into the hospital is of Rihanna spanking me with a whip. I was already 2cm dilated when I left the show, and I was in labour for another 18 hours. The delivery room was out of control.
“There was my agent and my baby’s daddy and Erykah Badu on FaceTime, acting as my doula. Then suddenly there he was: my miracle. I have no words for what it felt like to hold him for the first time.”
Slick also explained that she was always told that she’d “never” be able to have a child “naturally”, and so when the model fell pregnant and was attending her first sonogram, she “understood the true power” of her own body.
She told Vogue UK: “I was nearly in my last trimester when I found out I was going to have a baby. I’d always been told I would never be able to have a child naturally, and it was only when my agent told me I was looking kind of chubby in my bikini at Coachella that I visited my doctor.
“A few appointments later, a nurse was doing a sonogram. There he was: my son. I started crying tears of joy. I had life in me, and felt like I understood the true power of my body for the first time. If I could bring another human being into this world, nothing was out of reach.”

In a professionally shot video which accompanied the post, the ‘Almost Famous’ star could be seen modelling bohemian style prairie dresses, a jumpsuit, bright coloured blouses and denim overalls, and fans can sign up now for notifications.
The blonde beauty – who is the daughter of actress Goldie Hawn – previously admitted that she wants all businesses to reflect the Time’s Up movement, which takes action against sexual harassment in the entertainment industry.
Speaking in London during a Q&A organised by the British Fashion Council, she explained: “On the heels of what happened, we got together to see what we can do to create a movement for all women in all workplaces. It’s not just about Hollywood, the justice system is the way to fight a cause.”
Kate explained that originally wanted to create a dress line, but thought athletic wear would make more sense to the fans who will buy her products because of her interest in leading a fun and healthy lifestyle.
She explained: “I first thought I was going to be doing dresses, but when I sat down and thought about what I could offer to a company and to my partners, athletic wear made a lot of sense.
“It was about taking away the stigma that you have to be a crazy yogi or an athlete to wear printed leggings. The collections resonated quickly because they brought a sense of fun while still incorporating the right technology.”

Barbara Palvin is ‘addicted’ to lip balm

OHMYGOSSIP — Barbara Palvin is “addicted” to lip balm.
The 25-year-old model – who was recently named Victoria’s Secret’s newest angel – is known for her flawless complexion on and off the catwalk, however, the star has revealed that her desert island beauty product is “lip balm”, and every night she always makes sure her perfect pout is smothered in her go-to salve.
In US Harper’s Bazaar’s ‘Go To Bed With Me’ series, she said: “I’m a lip balm addict so day and night I can also sleep in my lip balm. I put a lot on. My recent favourite one is the Giorgio Armani Neo Nude Ecstasy Balm [$34].”
The Hungarian-born beauty also insisted that when she is removing her make-up every night, she always makes sure to gently “wipe off” her mascara first because it prevents wrinkles.
She added: “Before I would always rub my eye, and they [makeup artists] told me that it’s actually not good. You have to be gentle even though it’s faster when you rub it. You have to soak it a little bit and then wipe it off because it’s much better for your eyes. Don’t pull it too much because then you don’t get wrinkles.
“My mum told me not to pull my eyes so much because then I stretch the skin and since then I am very careful. Even if people are not watching. I promise. I always remove my makeup when I go to bed because if you’re not earring makeup your skin can breath in the night and rest and you’re going to have gorgeous skin.”
And the star admitted that she doesn’t like intense eye make-up on photoshoots because it takes “hours” to remove.
She continued: “Sometimes when I do a massive black eye or glitters, that’s the worst, it can take hours to remove it because your eyes are one of your most sensitive parts of your body. Maybe it’s just my eyes, but you can even see now that it’s a little red.”
