Dominic West inspired by Captain Fantastic

OHMYGOSSIP — Dominic West moved to the countryside after seeing ‘Captain Fantastic’.
The 49-year-old actor – who has a 20-year-old daughter from a previous relationship and Dora, 12, Senan, 10, Francis, nine, and five-year-old Christabel with his wife Catherine FitzGerald – recently relocated to Slaughterford, a tiny village in Wiltshire, South West England, to live out his “fantasy” life.
Asked why he moved, he said: “I saw a film called ‘Captain Fantastic’. Did you see that, with Viggo Mortesen? Anyway, it’s about him raising his kids in the mountains in Oregon or somewhere.
“And I was sitting there and my missus looked at me and she went, ‘This is just your fantasy, isn’t it?’ So we moved to the country.
“But no one said I was going to become a driver. Actually, no, I think maybe they did. And I ignored them. Yeah, I didn’t bank on that.”
But the ‘Colette’ actor admitted some aspects of rural life have left him unimpressed and his kids horrified”.
He told the Sunday Times magazine: “I don’t have f***ing broadband! I’ve been trying to get broadband for two months. The kids are horrified. I keep kicking them out to build forts in the woods, and they just look at me.”
Dominic’s brood are set to get a break from rural life in the coming months as they will be joining him in Los Angeles and homeschooled while he films ‘The Affair’ before travelling across the US to Canada by April.
However – none of his family are keen on the plan and his wife isn’t convinced about his idea of home education.
He said: “She has a point that if we don’t get them out of the house in the morning, she’ll go insane.
“The truth is, I don’t know what we’re going to do, but we’ll do something. Yes, it could be a catastrophe. No one wants to go. It’s fraught with potential disaster.”
Despite his family’s reluctance, the former ‘Wire’ star is confident he’s making the right decision.
He said: “I’ve been away so much doing ‘The Affair’ and I’m very conscious of missing out on these golden years.
“So, when they said they had to do another season of ‘The Affair’, I thought I’d bring them all out with me…
“A friend of mine went around New Zealand on a trip with his wife and two sons, then his wife died a couple of years later and he said that trip is what they’ll remember all their life. So that’s why I’ve forced everyone’s hand. It’s good to be selfish sometimes.”

Shirley Ballas ready to embrace Christmas at last

OHMYGOSSIP — Shirley Ballas is finally able to embrace Christmas again thanks to ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 58-year-old judge – who replaced Len Goodman on the show in 2017 – and her other Audrey have struggled over the festive season since the suicide of Shirley’s brother David 15 years ago but she admitted she’s now “finally understood” that life goes on.
Shirley told You magazine: “There was no way we could enjoy Christmas without David. I couldn’t believe he wasn’t there, eating his treble helpings of Christmas dinner with ten glasses of milk. David wasn’t a drinker but he loved milk and chocolate – he was a chocoholic!
“After David died, Mum threw away all the decorations. I was living in the US and we always got together as a family – sometimes his daughter Mary would go to her mother’s, sometimes she’d come to me, usually quietly watching films on television and wishing it would be over. It was all a little bit solemn…
“Last year I was the new girl but this year I feel a full part of Strictly and it’s impossible not to be inspired by such a sparkly merry-go-round of a show. The fans have sent me so many beautiful, supportive messages about my brother, it’s all helped me reinvent Christmas, so for the first time in years, the house will feel celebratory like it used to.”
And Shirley plans to pay tribute to David on December 25.
She explained: “There will be a place at the table for David, a photo of him and Mary by the tree, and I’ll buy a massive box of Cadbury’s Dairy Milk for him. It’s taken a long time, but I’ve finally understood that life goes on and that we must make the most of every second.”
Meanwhile, the Queen of Latin – who was previously married to Sammy Stopford and Corky Ballas, the father of her son Mark – admitted landing her job on ‘Strictly’ meant a lot to her.
She said: “[It] really boosted my confidence. People might not realise I needed that boost but, as an older woman in my industry, getting that job meant so much.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Arterton sees her movies as an “experiment”.
The ‘Escape’ actress views her career as a “creative adventure” and she’s always on the lookout for “complex” characters to portray in order to see how far she can push herself.
She said: “It is all about the complexities of a character.
“Every time I do a project now, it’s a creative adventure, an experiment in seeing what I can do.”
Though Gemma does a lot of research for her roles, she knows ultimately her performance is down to something inside of her.
She explained in a recent interview: “I can have all that technical information in my brain and yet in the end it’s going to be something that comes through me.”
The 32-year-old actress has served as a producer on her last three movies and is keen to move into directing, and she loves being a supporter of ERA (Equal Representation for Actresses).
She said: “It’s what we are all striving for: making great parts for women and giving women directors and writers more voice.”
Gemma recently revealed that she felt “inspired” by her late grandmother, Helen, who took her own life eight years ago after feeling “suffocated” by domestic life, wile making ‘The Escape’.
She said: “My mother would be on set with me and say, ‘You know this is your ­grandmother’s story.’ But it’s a universal story about a woman who’s fighting to breathe while being choked and escaping from her happy life.
“It’s a fragile subject and very personal to me. There’s so much of me in it, it really came from inside me and then shooting in Gravesend, it’s like a mirror of what my life could have been had I never left maybe?”

OHMYGOSSIP — Mariah Carey listens to Christmas music “24 hours a day” over the festive season.
The 48-year-old singer spends the holiday in Aspen with loved ones including her seven-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe – who she has with ex-husband Nick Cannon – and she wants her guests to fully embrace the celebration and tries to make it “fun for everybody”.
She said: “Once I start listening to Christmas music, that’s it.
“Everybody who is with me in Aspen, they have to listen to Christmas music 24 hours a day.
“Christmas is very important to me. I try to make it fun for everybody – I literally have Santa Claus out there and real reindeer. I’m not making this up!”
And the ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ hitmaker loves choosing thoughtful gifts for her friends and family.
She said: “The only time I go shopping is for Christmas. I wait to go to Aspen and I do it there. I don’t even like shopping for myself but I like shopping for other people.”
But Mariah doesn’t ask for much in return.
She quipped in a recent interview: “Well, if they can’t do diamonds they can just write me a nice card and call it a day.”
It’s been 24 years since Mariah released ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ but she never gets tired of the festive track.
She said: “It still reminds me how much I love Christmas. I wrote a song that, thankfully, people like to listen to in the holidays.
“I used to pick it apart every time I listened to it but now I just get festive. My kids love it too.”

Millie Mackintosh had weird Christmas

OHMYGOSSIP — Millie Mackintosh had a “weird” Christmas last year.
The former ‘Made in Chelsea’ star and her husband Hugo Taylor – who she married in June – spent the festive season in Florida last year and shunned a traditional turkey dinner for lobster rolls, and though they had an “amazing” break, the 29-year-old beauty found it odd not participating in her usual customs.
She said: “It was amazing but weird not having a tree.”
This year, the couple will host Christmas for both of their families.
Millie explained in a recent interview: “For our first Christmas as newlyweds, getting the families together was the best compromise.”
Millie – who was previously married to Professor Green recently admitted she and her now-husband needed time apart to come back together even stronger than before, and said that the couple see children in their future.
She said: “I didn’t see Hugo much once I left the show, and then after my divorce I reconnected with old friends and we found ourselves back at the same gatherings. We were both older, we were both in different places. He was respectful and sensitive, and I felt completely comfortable in his company. He knows me so well and always looks out for me. I knew after everything he really was the right one for me. We both want children in a few years’ time, we’re open to the idea of living in Los Angeles for a while and we’re both so happy to be together again. He’s the man I want to be married to for life.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Buble spends a big part of Christmas Day having a dance party.
The ‘Feeling Good’ hitmaker and his wife Luisana Lopilato – who have children Noah, five, Elias, two, and Vida, five months, together – embrace the “excesses” of the festive season but their favourite “tradition” is a huge musical celebration with their extended family on December 25.
He said:” Christmas is basically about excess for us – excess love and excess drinking and food.
“But my favourite part of Christmas, the tradition now, is the dance party.
“It’s just a huge party with kids. My sister Crystal’s pregnant again with another little one – she’s got three. My other sister’s got two, and I’ve got three kids.
“We play Christmas music and it’s literally three hours of full-no dance, disco and karaoke.
“And all of us parents get rid of our cynicism and get rid of being adults for a couple of days.
“We get to look at the world through the eyes of the kids. I think that’s probably our favourite part.”
The boys have already written their gift lists to Santa, but Michael has had to try and persuade his eldest child to rethink his requests.
He said in a recent interview: “Eli loves ‘The Incredibles’, so he likes the action figures. And Noah, he just simply wants a Mighty Morphin Power Rangers real robot dinosaur that he can go in and control.
“We’ve been trying to explain that it doesn’t exist – that robots you can drive in and attack cities with aren’t real.
“But now we’re having a difficult time because his argument is, ‘But Santa Claus is magic and so he can make that happen!'”

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s accent doubts

OHMYGOSSIP — Lin-Manuel Miranda didn’t want to go “full Cockney” in ‘Mary Poppins Returns’.
The 38-year-old actor portrays Jack, the former apprentice to the original movie’s Bert, and though he didn’t want to subject himself to the ridicule Dick Van Dyke received for his London accent in the first film, he still wanted to pay homage and had a lot of fun changing his US tones.
He said: “For me, the lesson was ‘Don’t go full Cockney’. I went for more of an Anthony Newley, Billy Bragg, working class East End just shy of rhyming slang. But it affects rhyme.
“I’ve got some pretty hardcore… I wouldn’t say rhyming, but patter, in this film, and that was a joy to unlock.
“And you’re filming in Shepperton Studios. You’ve got a crew that are all going to help you out so it was really fun to slip in and out of it every day.
“And by the way, no one has a better sense of humour about that accent than Dick Van Dyke himself.”
The ‘Hamilton’ creator was thrilled to land his role in the Disney sequel because he never “ever thought” it was a film that would ever be made.
He told Empire magazine: “I have had some audacious dreams in my life.
“I wanted to be on Broadway and I wanted to do movies but the audacity to dream that there would ever be a sequel to ‘Mary Poppins’ and that I could be in it? That’s not something I ever thought could be on offer….
“I couldn’t believe what [director Rob Marshall and producing partner John DeLuca] were pitching me. As soon as they said ‘Emily Blunt’ and that this was a new story, not a remake, I was in.
“I happen to think that Rob Marshall is one of the best makers of musical films ever, so I wanted to learn.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin and Hailey Bieber have adopted a puppy.
The ‘Love Yourself’ singer and his 22-year-old model wife – who he’s believed to have married in September – took to their Instagram accounts on Saturday (22.12.18) to share pictures and video footage of their new “dogson”, who they have named Oscar.
Justin shared a shirtless photo of himself with the pooch sitting on his shoulder and wrote: “Meet our dogson his name is #Oscar (sic)”
The cute canine then appeared in several posts on his Instagram Story, with one photo showing off Oscar’s new toys and sleep area which was captioned: “Merry Christmas from Oscar.”
The 24-year-old pop star then shared a number of videos of himself and Hailey in bed with Oscar as the tiny puppy crawled across Justin’s chest, was showered in kissed by the model, and returned the favour by licking her nose.
The ‘Believe’ hitmaker ended his flurry of posts with a picture of Oscar fast asleep on a pillow.
Hailey – whose surname before her marriage was Baldwin – also shared a number of videos of her “Christmas baby” on her own Instagram story, including one of Oscar scampering around on the bed adorned with a large blue bow and more of him sleeping.
However, she also admitted the number of dog posts had been an “overload” but she just couldn’t help sharing them.
While the couple may be smitten with their new “dogson”, Hailey – who is the daughter of Stephen and Kennya Baldwin – recently admitted she “can’t wait” to have children and hinted that won’t be too far away in the future for the couple.
She shared: “I love kids and I can’t wait to have my own. I would say now that’s a closer reality.”

Ant McPartlin’s dog custody issue to end

OHMYGOSSIP — Ant McPartlin’s ex-wife is to give up custody of their dog.
The ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ presenter and Lisa Armstrong have taken their beloved Labrador Hurley on alternate weeks since splitting in January, but with handovers growing increasingly fraught, the 42-year-old make-up artist has reportedly decided to save herself from further turmoil and hand the pooch over to her former partner so she can move on.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “Lisa was desperate to keep Hurley.
“He’s her baby boy, her one constant throughout this ordeal.
“But she doesn’t want anything to do with Ant in future. Sadly to achieve that she must choose between keeping Hurley or moving on without him.”
The former couple are said to refuse to see one another during exchanges with Hurley and they recently had a row over who got to spend Christmas with their furry friend, who they adopted in 2013.
Ant, also 42, is currently banned from driving so his chauffeur usually collects the dog from Lisa, but as the former ‘Byker Grove’ star’s staff aren’t working over the festive period, he’s said to have told his ex-wife that he’d simply keep Hurley for the holidays, much to her fury.
A source said: “Lisa refused, saying it was her turn.
“After a massive argument Lisa’s parents are now driving to Ant’s in Wimbledon to pick up Hurley.”
The former couple were granted a divorce in October but are still in negotiations in how to divide their assets, with Hurley also regarded as a personal possession in the eyes of the law.
Jewellery and valuable artwork, including paintings by street artist Banksy, are also part of the pair’s negotiations, while Lisa is expected to get as much as half of Ant’s £52 million fortune.
The ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ presenter – who has taken a break from TV this year to focus on his sobriety – is now dating his former personal assistant, Anne-Marie Corbett.

Holly Willoughby wants Dancing On Ice romances

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Willoughby wants the ‘Dancing On Ice’ contestants to find love on the show.
The 37-year-old presenter – who has children Harry, nine, Belle, seven, and four-year-old Chester with husband Dan Baldwin – is keen to play matchmaker on the programme, though she doesn’t want there to be any scandal of attached celebrities or professional skaters leaving their partners for someone else.
She said: “Over the years I’ve set up quite a few people.
“I really want there to be a romance on Dancing On Ice this series. Wouldn’t it be great? We all like a bit of romance.
“As long as it’s two single people, then I’m well up for a bit of setting people up.”
But her co-presenter Phillip Schofield is more keen to see sparks fly than cupid’s arrow and plans to stir up arguments between the judges and competing couples.
He told reporters: “A good row is great. I’m looking forward to seeing James Jordan, who told me, ‘The judges are professionals, I’ll respect what they say’. That’s going to last a week.
“Me and Holly will step back and let it happen . . . and if it’s not happening, I might poke it a little bit.”
Meanwhile, judge Christopher Dean has confirmed there won’t be a 2019 tour after the TV show comes to an end amid rumours it had been axed due to poor ticket sales in the past.
He said: “There won’t be a tour next year.
“We feel it’s not the right time. We may have another tour next time, but not this series.”
Brian McFadden, Wes Nelson, Jane Danson, Didi Conn, Richard Blackwood and Saara Aalto are among the celebrities taking part on the show this year.
‘Dancing On Ice’ returns to ITV on January 6.

David Walliams and Matt Lucas to resume partnership?

OHMYGOSSIP — David Walliams and Matt Lucas are to work together again.
The ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge has rekindled his friendship with his former comedy partner and now they are reportedly set to reteam for the first time in eight years to revive one of their shows, with airline sketch show ‘Come Fly With Me’ tipped to be their chosen project.
A source told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: “It’s all very quiet, and very recent, but Matt and David have started speaking again. They’ve made up, which is amazing and what’s even better is that they are in serious discussions to work together next year.
“Both realise they missed one another a lot and realise how much joy they can bring themselves and the general public by making a comeback.
“‘Come Fly With Me’ is seeming the best option at the moment.”
The news comes after David, 47, admitted he’d also love to bring back ‘Little Britain’ for another tour.
He said in November: “I would like to return to it. I would like to do a live show again, I think that would be fun.”
Asked what Matt thinks of the idea, he added: “Yeah, yeah, well, yeah, y’know.
“We were talking about, there’s an idea to possible do it for charity as well.
“The show wasn’t that big in America. I think we would do Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland.”
The pair fell out during their 2005 ‘Little Britain Live’ tour, with Matt previously detailing in his autobiography, ‘Little Me’, how they were “often at loggerheads” over minor issues such as what chocolate to have backstage, which rapidly escalated.
And the 44-year-old comic recalled how an argument over his co-star’s facial hair ended with them “hurling obscenities at one another”.
The pair stopped speaking to one another in 2011 but came face-to-face at Dale Winton’s funeral earlier this year.

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwen Stefani got the perfect Christmas present – when Blake Shelton filmed a festive music video with her.
The ‘Hollaback Girl’ says it was “such a gift” to have her partner join her to film a video for ‘You Make It Feel Like Christmas’ because he “hates” making videos usually.
She said: “It was such a gift because he hates doing videos. Literally, for his own videos he’s like, ‘You got two hours and then I’m out of here.’ He just – it’s not his thing. So for him to be able to put the time in for a whole day and do that video with me was just a dream. I was all excited about how it turned out and it was a lot of fun.”
The 49-year-old singer is releasing a deluxe version of 2017’s ‘You Make It Feel Like Christmas’ as well as two brand new songs, ‘Cheer for the Elves’ and ‘Secret Santa’, and she says there is something so “magical” about Christmas songwriting.
Speaking on Billboard’s Pop Shop Podcast, she explained: “Like, you get to have that moment with everyone’s memories and their families and their holiday. It’s like you’re part of their celebration and the backdrop of their lives. Honestly, songwriting is so magical, but to do Christmas songwriting was another level for me.”
Meanwhile, Gwen previously confessed her and Blake have ruined their Christmas surprises for one another.
She shared: “It’s so hard. He has everything. I feel like we were both sitting there going, ‘Promise me you’re not going to get me anything. Let’s just not get gifts this time.'”

The ‘Miss You Already’ actress admits it can be tough for her to lose weight but after shedding an impressive 25 pounds, she realises she has the “control to be who she wants” to be.
She wrote on Instagram: “#TheWayItLooksToUs: WELLNESS … When I look at Instagram, I am made to think I should be at my best self. But most days, I lack consistency due to real life … Solution: with the right people (@marniealton) we can make our goals a reality… Here is me in a before pose and then 25 pounds later in the same place. You can tell my face is so much thinner! This takes me so much work. Diet and exercise and fighting like a lion for it! Damn you genetics! And yet thank you for all the good stuff. I love where I come from (JOHN ETHEL LIONEL) and whatever package it comes in. I just know that I have the control to be what I want. Even if it is hard AF! Meanwhile, Drew previously claimed she doesn’t really care about having “a hot body” and regaining her pre-pregnancy body isn’t a priority.
The actress – who has Olive, six, and Frankie, four, with her ex-husband Will Kopelman – said: “Having a hot body is just not my thing. I care a little, I don’t care a lot. I never looked good in a bathing suit, so now I look worse in a bathing suit. I have cellulite. But I would much rather have my kids and look a little worse in a bathing suit!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Beckinsale has made Freddie Mercury the star on the top of her Christmas tree.
The ‘Underworld’ star paid homage to the late Queen singer by placing a small cardboard cut out of him at the top of her tree whilst his track ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ played in the background.
Alongside three yellow heart emojis, she captioned the video on Instagram: “Hey hey hey (sic)”
Meanwhile, Kate previously opened up about how she feels torn between having more children and “getting annihilated”.
The 45-year-old actress – who already has a 19-year-old daughter called Lily with fellow Hollywood star Michael Sheen – said: “I definitely would [have another child], but then I think ‘Oh God, I annihilated my twenties and I suddenly get a taste of freedom and annihilate myself again?’ But I am open to seeing what happens.”
Kate feels she has an “intense” relationship with her daughter.
She explained: “I’m my mother’s only child and Lily is my only child. It’s an intense relationship to have, especially if you’re a single parent. Then it’s very important that the child has her own personality and her own life. That’s hard for the parent but it’s also important. On the other hand, I text my mother 18 times a day.”
And Kate feels “very sorry” that her daughter has flown the nest.
She shared: “It means I’ve got an open landscape for the first time since I became a mother. Lily is a great, bright, intelligent, interesting, feisty girl. I’ll be very sorry for her not to be always in my house but hopefully she’ll come back to visit.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lopez went on a journey of self-discovery after the arrival of her twins.
The ‘On The Floor’ hitmaker – who has twins Max and Emme, now 10, with her ex-husband Marc Anthony – says the birth of her two kids made her realise that she wasn’t always as happy as she thought she was and credits them for making her laugh and smile.
She said: “When they were born, I realised, ‘Wow, I haven’t laughed and smiled like this in a long time.’ It made me realise that I had spent a lot of my life being happy and doing what I loved, but I had also spent some of my life being unhappy personally and not living in as much happiness and gratitude and the present as I needed to be doing.
“I realised that the only person who could guide me out of it was myself. And I had work to do and I had to make myself happy and figure myself out. That was a big turning point in my life. You get a new perspective and a gratitude and you grow into somebody who realises that your mistakes are not what define you. What defines you is what you do after your mistakes and how you learn what is meant to be learned from those moments.”
And the 49-year-old singer and actress has finally learned she has the “power” to make her life whatever she wants it to be.
She told Vanity Fair magazine: “Everybody has the same feelings where you feel lost at some point in your life and think, ‘What am I doing? Is there more? Should I dream bigger? Can I start now? Is it too late?’ I just feel like that’s why people are responding to this movie in the way that they are. Because it really does make you feel like the only person stopping you from anything in your life is you. And you really have that power to make your life whatever you want it to be.”

Cardi B is feeling the pressure

OHMYGOSSIP — Cardi B is feeling “so much pressure and anxiety” to deliver with her second album.
The ‘Bodak Yellow’ hitmaker admits she is nervous about her next LP after all the tracks on her debut album, ‘Invasion of Privacy’, were certified gold or higher in the United States by the the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
After hearing the news, she wrote on Twitter: “BIG MOMMA BARDI !! Im happy my album is amazing but I got sooo much pressure and anxiety cause I know I gotta kill it with my second one (sic)”
Back in September, soon after the arrival of her daughter Kulture – who she has with estranged husband Offset, Cardi admitted she felt guilty that she hadn’t been in the recording studio for two days.
She shared: “I missed two days in the studio!Its Kulture fault,her eyes be telling me “don’t go momma ” … Sooooo much work , soooo little time. I shall finish though (sic)”
Cardi previously teased she was planning on unveiling at least five new tracks, which didn’t make her debut album ‘Invasion Of Privacy’.
In an Instagram live, she said at the time: “There’s about five songs that I was supposed to put on ‘Invasion Of Privacy’ but they didn’t fit and make sense. So I’m gonna put it on this project that I really want to put out on September 1st, but I’m missing like four or five songs. I got four or five songs I gotta finish for this project and I got like six features I still got to do [for other artists].”
