Kathleen Turner says money paid to Hollywood A-listers is ‘immoral’

OHMYGOSSIP — Kathleen Turner thinks the amount of money being spent on movies and A-list actors is “immoral”.
The 64-year-old actress has hit out at the current landscape in Hollywood, arguing that the money should instead be redirected towards improving the quality of scripts and giving actors more rehearsal time.
She said: “The hundreds of millions they spend on films now I find essentially immoral.”
Kathleen firmly believes that male and female co-stars ought to receive equal pay.
However, she doesn’t think studios should be paying such eye-watering sums to the industry’s best-known stars.
She told the Observer newspaper: “How much money does a person need?
“You can only live in one house at a time. Perhaps they could designate that the studio pay a portion of the fee to an organisation or an educational institution.”
The award-winning star has also criticised film producers and directors for not giving actors more time to rehearse.
Looking back on her own career, she explained: “The films we rehearsed the longest on were with Larry Kasdan [‘Body Heat and Accidental Tourist’] and Francis Coppola [‘Peggy Sue’].
“We rehearsed for up to four weeks before ever going in front of the camera. It immediately pays off.
“Not only do you have actors who anticipate, understand and watch each other, because they know each other so much better, but also the time you save. You know exactly where the camera’s going to be … Two or three takes and you move on…
“It gives you time to actually develop characters, instead of being forced to make a quick choice, which you might look back on in a week or so and say, ‘Damn it, I’m locked into that, so that I have to pursue the character this way now.'”

AC/DC working on new album

OHMYGOSSIP — AC/DC are working on a new album.
The rock band haven’t released a studio LP since 2014’s ‘Rock or Bust’, but it’s believed lead guitarist Angus Young has been working on a new release, which will feature his late brother Malcolm Young – who died last year – on ” every track.”
A source told Dallas publication JAM Magazine: “Turns out, five years prior to the ‘Black Ice’ LP, AC/DC’s 15th studio release, Angus and Malcolm Young lived together where they literally wrote hundreds of songs, many were recorded and have been stashed away until now.
“Angus has decided to select the best tracks from those recordings that Malcolm played on and is now back in the studio recording and mixing them with fellow band mates Phil Rudd, Cliff Williams and yes, Brian Johnson on vocals.”
Malcolm tragically passed away in November last year at the age of 64, following a three-year battle with dementia.
AC/DC – which was co-founded by Malcolm and Angus – confirmed the sad news in a Facebook post at the time, writing: “Today it is with deep heartfelt sadness that AC/DC has to announce the passing of Malcolm Young.
“Malcolm, along with Angus, was the founder and creator of AC/DC.
“With enormous dedication and commitment he was the driving force behind the band. As a guitarist, songwriter and visionary he was a perfectionist and a unique man. He always stuck to his guns and did and said exactly what he wanted.
“He took great pride in all that he endeavored.
“His loyalty to the fans was unsurpassed. (sic)”
The ‘Highway to Hell’ rockers recruited Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose for their tour last year after their frontman Brian Johnson was forced to quit the band in 2016 due to hearing loss, but it’s not yet known whether he will join them for the album.

Nile Rodgers says Stephen Hawking inspired the name of his new album

OHMYGOSSIP — Nile Rodgers says Professor Stephen Hawking inspired the name of his new album.
The 65-year-old record producer is set to release his first album with Chic in 26 years later this month and Nile – whose new record features appearances from the likes of Lady Gaga, Sir Elton John, Emeli Sande, Craig David and Hailee Steinfeld – has revealed how the album was given the name ‘It’s About Time’.
He told The Sun newspaper: “I came up with the album title before David [Bowie] and Prince died, and maybe even before Michael [Jackson] died, or right after.
“Then I find myself talking to Stephen Hawking about how time is the most important measurement in the universe and, of course, I’ve always loved a double entendre in a title and obviously it’s about time I put out an album.”
Nile also explained his motivation behind releasing the album, saying that surviving two cancer scares has led him to reconsider his priorities.
He said: “I’ve survived cancer twice. It makes you think about your mortality, and you do always want to make sure you’re not forgotten.
“Making an album is a solid, tangible thing. It’s making the whole movie, not just making trailers.”
One of the tracks on the new album – which is scheduled for release on September 28 – is a duet featuring Elton and Emeli on a song called ‘Queen’, which was actually written for Diana Ross in 1983.
Revealing the story behind the track, Nile explained: “The song was inspired by her but she said, ‘I can’t sing it. If I sing a song called ‘Queen’, they’re really going to think I’m a diva’.
“I said, ‘The song is not about you, it’s because of you.'”

Doctor Who will barely address Time Lord’s gender

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Doctor Who’ bosses will barely address the Time Lord’s change of gender.
After 55 year, Jodie Whittaker will take over the TARDIS as the first woman to play the iconic role, and showrunner Chris Chibnall has confirmed it wasn’t really an issue in the story they’re telling.
He told the Daily Star: “The gender issue is pretty by-passed. It’s not really a kind of a gender-related story or anything like that.
“The first story is much more a story of survival for the new Doc.
“The last we saw of her she was falling through the air above planet Earth so it’s less about gender and more about: ‘How am I going to get out of this?’ ”
Although Chris is keen to make sure it doesn’t become an issue, an insider has added that it’s “odd” that it doesn’t get referenced more.
A source said: “It is odd that one minute Peter Capaldi is The Doc and he turns into Jodie Whittaker and the sex change is barely mentioned.”
One thing the team are keen to retain is the series’ sense of “unpredictability”, and to keep an audience so familiar with the history of the show.
Speaking to Doctor Who Magazine, writer Malorie Blackman revealed: “Part of the joy of writing for Doctor Who is to try to surprise your audience, no matter what their age.
“I love unpredictability – where you introduce the unexpected, even into a story the audience may already think they know.”
The new series of ‘Doctor Who’ will be on BBC One this autumn.

Chris Evans quits BBC Radio 2

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Evans has quit BBC Radio 2’s ‘The Breakfast Show’.
The 52-year-old radio presenter has announced his decision to step away from the airwaves around the festive period after eight years at the helm.
Speaking live on air on Monday (03.09.18), he said: “I’m leaving Radio 2 and since I decided this, which has been a conversation I have been having with my nearest and dearest since last year, a few weeks ago I made my mind up for sure. During that conversation it was pointed out that I had been here for 13 years and that’s a long time and I’ve been on the breakfast show for eight years which is also a long time. A brilliant time, a great time and I’ve loved every single minute of it. Some of us are mountain climbers and if you get to the top of your favourite mountain and you stay there, you’re just an observer.
“And I’ve got to keep climbing so I’m going to go and go again and start up on a brand new adventure. And I’ve loved it here, every second and I don’t want this to be it. I’m 52, it’s brilliant, it’s never been more current.”
Chris has been at the station for 13 years and took over the morning segment – which regularly attracts nine million listeners – from Sir Terry Wogan in 2010.
It’s not yet known who will replace him but he’s wished his successor “the best.”
He said: “As Sir Terry said before me, there’s never a right time to leave something you love but there might be a wrong time if you hang on too long. I honestly think The Breakfast Show is currently as positive, useful, sunny and inclusive as it has ever been. In fine shape for its next custodian. Whoever that turns out to be, I wish them all the very best, they are in for an absolute blast.”
Radio 2 teased that Chris had some “big news” to share at 8:10 this morning.
They shared on Twitter: “@achrisevans has some big news to share with you this morning! Make sure you’re listening at 8:10 to find out more (sic)”
Tony Hall, Director-General of the BBC, said: “Chris has been an absolutely first-class presenter of the ‘Breakfast Show’. He has brought both warmth and a genuine insight into what listeners want.”

Kimberley Walsh wants another baby

OHMYGOSSIP — Kimberley Walsh wants another baby.
The former Girls Aloud singer already has sons; Bobby, four, and Cole, 19 months, with her husband Justin Scott but she has admitted she’d “love” to add to her brood in the near future – even though she’s expecting to have another boy.
Speaking to Gurgle magazine, she said: “I’d love to have another regardless of whether it’s a boy or girl. My sister had three boys so I presume I’ll have another boy too. It would be nice to see them react to a sister, but you can’t choose.”
However, the 36-year-old beauty doesn’t mind if she has three boys because she loves the way her sons are so “protective” and how they share similar interests.
She explained: “They are so cute together. Bobby is very protective of his little brother. He sticks up for him at soft play. They do fight too but I step back and let them sort it as they have to learn. They both love the park and soft play so we’re safe in those areas … I’m a very relaxed person, but I’m not at all a relaxed mum! I’m a real worrier when it comes to my kids and I also smother them with love, I’m very tactile – sometimes Bobby will even tell me to stop kissing him so much. They’ll hopefully make amazing boyfriends because they’re so used to affection.”
Kimberley manages to juggle motherhood around her busy work schedule but she has admitted she doesn’t really do anything for herself anymore.
She said: “My job can be juggled around the kids so I just make it work. My mum, or an old family friend, helps out, and if they can’t cover it then Justin takes the day off. I could take Bobby to work because he was very chilled but I can’t do that with Cole. He’s got a lot of energy – and he goes at a hundred miles an hour.
“You don’t really do anything for yourself anymore. And that’s OK.
“I had lots of very indulgent years with Girls Aloud when it was all about me and what I wanted to do, with people organising everything for me. Both Justin and I hit a point where we were ready to look after somebody else and take the focus off us. I got sick of talking and thinking about myself.”

Sir Paul McCartney ‘saw God’ on drug trip

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Paul McCartney claims he “saw God” after taking psychedelic drugs.
The 76-year-old Beatles legend recalled being “humbled” by a “higher thing” after experimenting with the strong hallucinogen Dimethyltryptamine (DMT) with a group of friends.
He said: “I do think there is something higher. No idea [what]! But I sense that through experiences I’ve had.
“I once took a drug, DMT. There was the gallery owner Robert Fraser, me, a couple of others. We were immediately nailed to the sofa. And I saw God, this amazing towering thing, and I was humbled.
“And what I’m saying is, that moment didn’t turn my life around, but it was a clue.
“It was huge. A massive wall that I couldn’t see the top of, and I was at the bottom. And anybody else would say it’s just the drug, the hallucination, but both Robert and I were, like, ‘Did you see that?’ We felt we had seen a higher thing. I can just see the bloody headlines now: ‘I saw God!’ ”
The ‘Live and Let Die’ singer was left devastated in 1998 when his first wife Linda died of breast cancer and he likes to believe she’s still looking down on him, even though he has no definitive proof.
He told the Sunday Times magazine: “Having lost both my parents and Linda, and having experienced people close to me dying, you often hear this from others when you say you’re missing a person so much. ‘Don’t worry,’ they say. ‘They’re here, looking down on you.’
“And there’s part of you that thinks there is no proof of that. But there’s part of you that wants to believe it.
“I like to allow myself to think that happens, rather than stopping myself thinking of the possibility.
“I was in the country once, and I saw a white squirrel. So, this was Linda, come back to give me a sign.
“It was a great moment. It thrilled me. Goosebumps! Obviously, I have no proof it was her at all, but it was good for me to think that.”
The ‘Yesterday’ hitmaker – who had four adult children with Linda, daughter Beatrice, 15, with second wife Heather Mills and is now married to Nancy Shevell – also admitted he still doesn’t feel he has got life “sussed” because there are always “curveballs” to encounter.
He said: “Did you think, when you were a kid, that at some point you would have it all down?
“That you would have sussed the whole thing out and wouldn’t have to think about new challenges? Well, I don’t find that to have been true. Life isn’t like that. It keeps throwing you a curveball. It keeps moving. It keeps it intriguing.
“Also, if you have children, you always learn lessons, because there’s no accepted way to bring them up. It’s the biggest ad lib of your life, as they tell you one thing, but your kid might not fit that mould. Throughout history, I can’t think of anyone who didn’t have some kind of insecurity.”

Roseanne Barr is moving to Israel

OHMYGOSSIP — Roseanne Barr is moving to Israel.
The 65-year-old actress saw her sitcom ‘Roseanne’ cancelled earlier this year following an outcry over a racist tweet she posted, but she won’t be watching ABC’s upcoming spin-off show, ‘The Conners’ – which features all her old castmates – as she’s planning to delve deeper into her Jewish faith and study with her “favourite teachers”.
Speaking on Rabbi Shumley Boteach’s podcast, she said: “I have an opportunity to go to Israel for a few months and study with my favorite teachers over there, and that’s where I’m going to go and probably move somewhere there and study with my favourite teachers.
“I have saved a few pennies and I’m so lucky I can go…[I’ll study with with] any rabbi that I can ask to teach me. It’s my great joy and privilege to be a Jewish woman.”
Though Roseanne insists she doesn’t “wish bad” on anyone involved in ‘The Conners’, she also doesn’t have anything positive to say either.
She said: “I’m not going to curse it or bless it. I’m staying neutral. That’s what I do. I’m staying neutral. I’m staying away from it.
“Not wishing bad on anyone, and I don’t wish good for my enemies. I don’t. I can’t. I just stay neutral. That’s what I gotta do.
“I have some mental health issues of depression and stuff. I got to stay in the middle or I’ll go dark, and I don’t want to go dark again. I’ve done it. After all, I was married to Tom Arnold.”
And Roseanne still maintains her tweet – in which she compared Valerie Jarrett, a former advisor to Barack Obama, to an ape – was misunderstood.
She said: “I’m so sorry that you thought I was racist and that you thought my tweet was racist because it wasn’t.”

Catherine Zeta-Jones’ son heads to university

OHMYGOSSIP — Catherine Zeta-Jones wants to go to university.
The 48-year-old actress – who left school when she was 15 – shared the excitement of her and husband Michael Douglas’ 18-year-old son Dylan when she helped him to move into his dorm at Rhode Island’s prestigious Brown University over the weekend.
She shared a black and white video of her son’s new home on Instagram and wrote: “Jumping for joy this morning. The start of Dylan’s college life.
“He is bursting with joy, as am I ! Wish I could enroll too!! Fantastic! Enjoy every second #thejoyoflearning.(sic)”
The ‘Chicago’ actress – who also has 15-year-old Carys with her spouse – went on to wish her son luck in the new chapter of his life.
She added: “Let the lectures really begin! I love you Dylan. Good luck in the next exciting and enlightening chapter of your life.”
Michael, 73, was also spotted in the video as Dylan said goodbye to his family and was on hand to help his son move in to his new room and continue his academic studies.
Dylan shared a picture to his own Instagram account of his dorm room and captioned the post: “A new home”.
The teen’s room features iconic Union Jack cushions on his bed, in honour of his British roots via his Welsh mother, and a Rolling Stones poster on the wall.
Meanwhile, ‘Ant-Man’ star Michael recently admitted he and his father, 101-year-old actor Kirk Douglas, have warned his kids – including Cameron, his 39-year-old son from his marriage to Diandra Douglas – they may not be able to replicate their movie success in their own lives.
He said: “We’ve talked all about it. They’ve seen good fortune but they understand it’s really about… if they have that joy of performing and want to do it, then great. It’s not easy.
“Second generations are rare in terms of success. Or third generations. So we wish them well. You’re always happy to see someone young have something they’re interested in.”

Robbie Williams feels like X Factor ‘boss’

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams feels like “the boss” on ‘The X Factor’.
The ‘Angels’ hitmaker and his wife Ayda Field joined the judging panel as part of a £10 million deal for the current series, and while the talent show is Simon Cowell’s “baby”, the singer feels in control.
He’s quoted by the Daily Star as saying: “In my world, I’m the boss. This show is Simon’s baby and has been for the longest time. He’s the best at it, so I’m always going to respect that he’s the boss.
“But at the same time, in my world, I’m the boss. So it’s an interesting juxtaposition between us, because ever since I left Take That I’ve been in a solo career, all the choices and decisions have been mine. Now I’m in a band again.”
Robbie, 44, has proven popular with fans, especially with his dynamic with Simon, 58, and he admitted he’s loved stealing his boss’ thunder to get a rise out of him.
He teased: “I’ve been doing a lot of raising my hand up to stop the music, to stop the audition. I didn’t realise that it’s only Simon who does that normally.
“I’ve been trying to get [Louis Tomlinson] to do it a bit more often. I’m like, ‘Go on, put your hand up first, it feels great.’ ”
Simon doesn’t appear to mind though, and he added that the huge fee has been money well spent so far.
He explained: “”To be honest with you, yes – it’s the best £10 million I’ve ever spent. In life you have to do things like this. I’d rather do this than do nothing. For me it’s exciting and makes it more thrilling.”

Ryan Thomas praised by brother

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Thomas’ brother has praised him for being an “absolute champion” in the ‘Celebrity Big Brother House’.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ actor was left distraught when former housemate Roxanne Pallett alleged he had punched her in the ribs and claiming she was too scared to sleep in the same room as him and though his family found the footage “heartbreaking” to watch, they hope now the actress has quit the show, he will be able to put the scandal behind him and start smiling again.
In a video message aired on ‘Lorraine’, Scott Thomas said: “Massive thank you for your support, its been so so tough the last few days, it’s been heartbreaking for the family but we knew he’d get through it.
“He’s handled it like an absolute champion and we’re proud of him.
“We cant wait to see him smiling and hear that crazy Thomas laugh.
“Ryan for the win, come on bro.”
Following Roxanne’s reaction to their play fight, the 34-year-old actor broke down and admitted he’d been left “broken”.
He sobbed: “I’ve done nothing, I don’t understand how she can do this. I don’t understand it.’
“I’ve got to get this show back on the road now and I have to make amends, I don’t feel like I’m the one making amends but I’ll be the bigger person. I’m not going to lie, it’s broken me a little, and if I’ve offended someone, or done something wrong, I am so sorry. But I will not walk away from this, I’m not a quitter, I’m genuinely not.”
Ryan also accused the 35-year-old actress of making up the allegations for more airtime.
He said: “I just walked past her in the kitchen, it’s how I’ve been showing affection. I’m trying to show affection to everyone I can. But she’s dragging it out, for what? More air time. She knows what she’s doing, it’s not her first barbecue.”
After the footage was broadcast, over 20 of the actress’ former ‘Emmerdale’ co-stars have spoken out to slam Roxanne for her conduct.

Jermaine Pennant and Hardeep Singh Kohli nominated for CBB eviction

OHMYGOSSIP — Jermaine Pennant and Hardeep Singh Kohli have both been nominated for surprise eviction from ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.
The two housemates have been named as the pair to go head to head in the upcoming public vote on Monday night (03.09.18), and the losing star will be kicked out of the Channel 5 reality TV digs.
Hardeep has been nominated by six of his housemates, with Gabby Allen, Kirsty Alley, Dan Osborne, Nick Leeson, Sally Morgan and Ryan Thomas.
Meanwhile, Jermaine seems slightly more popular but still got votes from Kirstie, Nick, Sally and Ryan.
sally received nominations from Dan and Hardeep, while Nick’s two came from Gabby and Hardeep, with Gabby and Ryan getting one vote each.
Meanwhile, Dan and Kirstie proved most popular as they didn’t receive a single nomination from their fellow housemates.
The surprise eviction comes after Jermaine barely survived on Friday’s episode (31.08.18) when he was up against Ben Jardine.
The pair initially drew 4-4 after the vote, but a re-vote saw things come out a bit more positively for the footballer.
This evening’s episode will also feature Roxanne Pallet’s interview with Emma Willis after she made a dramatic exit from the house.
The former ‘Emmerdale’ actress quit the reality show after she accused Ryan of repeatedly punching her in the ribs, and Roxanne is now set to discuss the controversial incident.
Meanwhile, an insider previously claimed that the 35-year-old star decided against involving the police following talks with the show’s producers.
The source said: “Roxanne sat down with producers on Friday and they discussed all the possible courses of action she could take.
“She was still adamant Ryan had hit her and that it was a really serious incident, despite what everyone has seen on camera.
“‘CBB’ takes its duty if care to the celebs incredibly seriously and they wanted to give her all the options.
“They asked her if she wanted to report the incident to the police. She asked what would happen if she did and they said her and Ryan might have to leave the house and they might both forfeit their fees.
“To be fair to her, she said she didn’t want to go down that route. Then she left.”

Dakota Johnson: I’m a very porous person

OHMYGOSSIP — Dakota Johnson thinks she’s a “very porous person”.
The 28-year-old actress – who stars as a dancer in new movie ‘Suspiria’ – has revealed the way in which making the supernatural horror film has subsequently left an impression on her.
She shared: “I’m a very porous person, and I absorb a lot of people’s feelings. And sometimes when you work on a dark subject matter, it can stay with you.
“And to talk to somebody really nice about it afterwards is really comforting, and my therapist is a very nice woman.”
Despite this, Dakota – who is best-known for her starring role in the ‘Fifty Shades’ movies – has insisted that making the Luca Guadagnino-directed film was not a traumatic experience.
She said: “It was the most fun and the most exhilarating and the most enjoyable that it could be. So it’s not like I ended up in a psych ward afterwards. I just had a lot of feelings!”
Meanwhile, Dakota recently admitted she found Chris Hemsworth’s physique very distracting on the set of ‘Bad Times at El Royale’.
The Hollywood star joked it was a “really big mistake” for producers to film her co-star shirtless in the mystery thriller – which is set in a hotel and features a group of strangers being spied on by an unknown person – because it drew all the attention to him.
She said: “I think it was a really big mistake to have him take his shirt off.
“Because it’s all you can look at. It’s so astonishing. It’s really impressive. He may or may not do a little dance of sorts. And it’s so, so spectacular.”

Colin Farrell says he ‘miscalculated’ Barry Keoghan

OHMYGOSSIP — Colin Farrell admits he initially “miscalculated” his ‘Killing of a Sacred Deer’ co-star Barry Keoghan.
The 42-year-old actor has conceded he made the mistake of judging the 25-year-old star – whose mother died of a drug overdose – based on his youthful appearance, saying he’s “older, wiser, more experienced” than he assumed.
Colin shared: “My first impression of him was that he was a pure burst of Irish energy.
“He seemed young – but that was a miscalculation on my part. Before too long I got to know a little more about him and rather than younger than his years, he’s older, wiser, more experienced than them.
“He’s stepped between the pillars of tragic loss way more often than most twice his age and he’s done so with his head unbowed.”
Colin is hugely impressed with how Barry – who is, perhaps, best-known for his role in ‘Dunkirk’ – has dealt with tragedy in his life.
He told the Guardian newspaper: “I love Barry. I think all the experiences he’s had in life would bury most of us.
“Certainly, I believe such struggle would place me in anger and destructiveness that is counter to what I’ve seen in him. He’s about creating.
“Just look up his CV and see who he’s worked with already, and the depth and mystery he’s brought to each role. He’s focused, driven and grateful, all alongside the natural talent he has.”

Sir Paul McCartney’s music lessons for Stormzy

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Paul McCartney taught Stormzy how to play the piano.
The 76-year-old Beatles legend was asked for advice by the grime star on how to improve his musicianship, so he gave him a “basic” lesson in tinkling the ivories.
He said: “Stormzy asked for advice. He’s looking to advance his music.
“As a rapper, I thought he’d have words down, but there was a piano, so I showed him basic stuff — how you get middle C, make a chord, a triad and, just by moving that, get D minor, E minor, F, G, A minor, and how that’s enough for anyone.”
The ‘Norwegian Wood’ hitmaker caused a stir with an unlikely collaboration with Kanye West and Rihanna on ‘Four Five Seconds’ in 2014 and he admitted he had no idea what the track would sound like, or even that it would feature the ‘Work’ hitmaker, until it was finished.
He told the Sunday Times magazine: “Working with Kanye, I’m sitting around the Beverly Hills bungalow, (strumming a slower riff than was used on the track).
“I originally thought we would sit down and [play something upbeat] ‘Well, today’s a good day!’ And he’d go, ‘Yes, it sure is.’ And I’d go, ‘Come on now, Kanye, we have gotta take a p**s!’ Or whatever. But it turned out it wasn’t like that. He recorded with his iPhone and, months later, I got this…
“I didn’t even know we were connected to Rihanna!”
Despite his years in the music industry, Paul has never grown tired of his career.
He said: “It’s never got to be like a job. I love it. You sit down and there’s a black hole you pull something out of. Little things, chords, planets. And then you’ve got something, where there was nothing.”

Roxanne Pallett admits accusation was a ‘mistake’

OHMYGOSSIP — Roxanne Pallett has admitted she “got it wrong” when she accused Ryan Thomas of hitting her.
The ‘Emmerdale’ actress quit ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ over the weekend after accusing her housemate of punching her during a play fight but she’s now admitted her accusations were wrong and she understands the backlash against her.
She said: “At the time it hurt but when I looked back at the clip as soon as I left the house, it was the first thing I did and I got it wrong, I really got it wrong…
“I agree fully with every single person who was outraged.”
And the brunette beauty offered a “massive” apology to Ryan and his family and friends for her “overreaction”.
Speaking on ‘Jeremy Vine’, she said: “I massively apologise, not just to Ryan but his family, friends, fans, every single person that watched that and justifiably saw an overreaction to what wasn’t a malicious act.
“In that moment, because I am sensitive and I was emotional, what was playful – and he did apologise and said his ring caught me – it’s the word deliberate I regret because I doubted his intention.
“There was no malicious intention and that’s what I apologise for, I shouldn’t have questioned his motivation. I got it wrong.”
When told the allegation could have ended Ryan’s career if it wasn’t caught on camera, the 35-year-old actress vowed to become a “better person”.
She said: “He couldn’t disprove his intention and I couldn’t disprove, or prove, the feeling, but since I’ve been out, I looked at the clip and spoke to my family and reflected in a normal environment, because it’s not normal in there. I wasn’t thinking straight and that’s something I need to go away and work on, I need to be a better person…
“I’m overenthusiastic and dramatic, they are my character traits I need to look at and better myself, this is a serious subject and it’s something I need to focus on now not just to rebuild my career but my personal life, this is something that’s overshadowed everything because it’s a serious issue to me, all I want to do now is reassure everyone I’m well aware I overreacted, I apologise massively to every person I’ve offended, everyone I’ve disappointed and doubted the intention behind the reaction.”
Roxanne is hoping her former housemate is able to “forgive” her at some time in the future and admitted she’s “heartbroken” by her behaviour.
Discussing false allegations in the wake of the #MeToo movement, she said: “I think male or female there will always be a handful of people who get unfairly discredited when the situation is not intentional and I’m heartbroken that I’ve contributed to distressing Ryan and I just hope that people can forgive me and that Ryan can forgive me.”
Roxanne admitted she had been “advised” not to appear on the Channel 5 show this morning (03.09.18) but wanted to acknowledge her “mistake”.
She said: “I was advised not to, I’m not getting paid, It’s been the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, come here today. It’s affected my family and friends, this is my reality now and I’m here to acknowledge a mistake.”
And the actress – who has been a victim of domestic violence in the past – is “devastated and mortified” after she was criticised for trivialising the issue.
She said: “I work with women because of my own experience and perhaps they were right my reaction was a sign I’ve been in a situation like that, in my life I have become conditioned, I’m sensitive to certain things but I’m devastated and mortified if even one person thought I’d discredited or undermined abuse because that was not my intention.”
Following the row, over 20 of Roxanne’s former ‘Emmerdale’ co-stars spoke out to criticise her behaviour but she played down any suggestions of a feud.
She said: “I think we all make friends and enemies in life on jobs and unfortunately, when you make mistake mistakes there’s a lot of people who contribute to the backlash.”
