Sir Paul McCartney “never thought” he would be a singer-songwriter

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Paul McCartney “never thought” he would be a singer-songwriter.
The ‘FourFiveSeconds’ hitmaker would never have dreamed of being famous and making it as a singer.
He said: “Talk about: Pinch yourself. I never thought I would be a singer-songwriter. Who dreams of that? I think with Elvis appearing I did think, ‘It’d be good to get a bit of that.’ And John was thinking that, and George was. When we got together, we sort of started to dream that. It was a bit of a far-off dream, and it was just a dream. It wasn’t anything that we really ever thought would turn out to be more than that.”
Despite his international fame, Paul loves doing “normal” things, like taking public transport or the Underground in London and thinks he is very different to the “celebrity me” he is in the spotlight.
The 76-year-old singer told GQ magazine: “I quite like going on public transport. It’s just my character enjoys the sort of thing that I always did. It’s a roots thing. I’ll sometimes go on the Underground in London, which I did the other day. I’m being me. I’m not being the celebrity me. And those moments are quite precious. Obviously I understand that if were to see Elvis or David Bowie on the Tube, I’d kind of want a photo of him, so I get it. But I’ve figured I have to make certain rules for myself to give me a quality of life.”

Katy Perry thinks the music industry is “kind of brutal”

OHMYGOSSIP — Katy Perry thinks the music industry is “kind of brutal”.
The ‘Dark Horse’ hitmaker believes the industry is “going through something very strange” at the moment and has urged people to “stay true to themselves” through it all.
She said: “If anyone else can tell, the music industry is going through something very strange, and I think young people are really in a struggle with online services and ideas of what they should be and what their life should be about. I felt that same way too, and I think a lot of us feel really alone even when we have over 75 million people following us and liking our stuff. This industry [is] kind of brutal. Just stay true to yourself. That’s all I ever did. I didn’t really have very much fear. I don’t have any fear anymore. I really don’t care what the outside world says about me ’cause I know who I am.”
And the 33-year-old singer feels happiest when she’s “connecting with God and nature”.
Speaking at Citi Sound Vault at The Theatre at Ace Hotel, she added: “I believe in a higher power bigger than myself, and I believe in God. I don’t know if it’s the same God you believe in, but She is incredible. People that think you’re happy when you have money have never had money. It’s not about getting things.
“It’s about connecting with God, it’s about connecting with nature. This year, I saw the God in all of us – in each and every single individual. Every single individual is absolutely enough and worthy and can do whatever they put their mind to.”

Ariana Grande was “all about” helping Mac Miller get sober

OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana Grande was “all about” helping Mac Miller get sober.
The ‘god is a woman’ hitmaker was always very “supportive” of Mac’s desire to get sober during their relationship, according to their friend Shane Powers. His comments come after Ariana – who is now engaged to Pete Davidson – came under fire from online trolls who blamed her for Mac’s untimely death at the age of 26 last week.
Speaking on his podcast, The Shane Show, he said: “They were very much in love and I have to say, she was incredible when he was first sobering up. She was a f***ing G to him. There could not have been anybody more supportive of him being sober than Ariana. I saw that, I was around it, I took phone calls from her. ‘How do I help? What do I do?’ This little girl was unbelievably involved and helpful to him being healthy.
“Whether he’s an addict or not, the way that Mac partied was not healthy. And there was no one in his life more ready to go to the wall for him when it came to him being sober. She was an unbelievably stabilising force in his life and she was deeply helpful and effective in keeping Mac sober and helping him get sober. She was all about him being healthy. Period.”
Prior to his tragic death, which is thought to be from an overdose, Miller had spoke candidly about his trouble dealing with the pressures of fame.
Reflecting on the stresses of success, he said: “There’s pressure. A lot of times in my life I’ve put this pressure to hold myself to the standard of whatever I thought I was supposed to be, or how I was supposed to be perceived. It’s the job. This is what I signed up for. So, you just have to not. You have to have your own reality and that has to be the driving force of your life. Do I wish that every single thing I did when I was 19 wasn’t a discussion? Sure.”

Miranda Kerr uses crystals in her beauty routine

OHMYGOSSIP — Miranda Kerr uses crystals as part of her skincare routine.
The former Victoria’s Secret model has revealed that as part of her morning beauty regime, she applies the Glow Face Oil from her beauty line KORA Organics – using a rose quartz crystal to massage the product into her skin.
In an interview with Australian Vogue, she said: “I find that my face, especially in the morning, is really puffy so massaging it is really such a good way to stimulate circulation.
I notice a big difference with my skin when I use this crystal because I just feel that it wakes up my skin and it reduces the puffiness. It improves circulation and the way that it curves, you can really get into the jawline and you can get into the eye area and you can just wake up those certain areas and you can really promote that lymphatic drainage that eliminates the toxins.”
The 35-year-old star – who has seven-year-old son Flynn Christopher Bloom from a previous relationship with actor Orlando Bloom, and four-month-old son Hart Spiegel with her husband, Evan Spiegel – has admitted that her routine has somewhat changed since becoming a mother.
She said: “It’s got to be simple, quick and easy, I get in my cleanse and moisturiser routine and I do my mask and I put on my oil and its things that are quick and easy.”
Miranda swears by her brand’s organic oil to give her a radiant complexion, and her 28-year-old husband has started using the product and it has completely altered the appearance of his skin.
She said: “I wouldn’t be able to live without that morning and night and it is the same with my husband. He uses it more than I do at night too and it completely has changed his skin.”

Jamie Oliver plays down bravery

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Oliver insists he wasn’t being “brave” when he chased and apprehended a would-be burglar.
The 43-year-old chef was praised by neighbours for his “heroic” antics last week when he caught a man trying to break into his house, but he insists he had no choice but to do react to the situation.
He told reporters: “[I was lucky] to be there to stop something from getting much much worse.
“I didn’t really have a choice, so it wasn’t really about bravery – it was a very odd and unfortunate grabbing scenario.”
Despite Jamie’s comments, residents in Highgate, north London praised the ‘Jamie Cooks Italy’ star – who has five children, Poppy, 16, Daisy, 15, Petal, nine, Buddy, seven, and two-year-old River, with wife Jools – for his “selfless” behaviour.
A source recently said: “It was just a brave, selfless thing to do.
“Despite the clearly very hairy situation, Jamie was laughing and joking with the coppers saying they’d done a great job to arrive so quickly after the 999 call.
“Everyone is really thankful for his quick thinking and courage.”
Jamie was at home with his family when he confronted the would-be burglar last Tuesday (04.09.18).
The source said: “Jamie was alerted to something wrong when he heard a massive commotion coming from his neighbour’s house.
“He was set to investigate but before he knew it, he was face to face with the burglar himself as he tried to smash his way into his house as well.
“Jamie went absolutely mad and sprinted after the man down the street before catching up with him and pinning him down to the floor.”
Police confirmed an “aggressive man” was arrested but later released without charge.
A spokesperson said: “At 7.13pm on Tuesday, September 4, police were called to reports of an aggressive male attempting to gain entry to residential addresses in N6.
“The male was apprehended by members of the public and was subsequently detained by police.
“He was taken to a north London police station and was subsequently released with no further action.”

Justin Bieber bonds with Stephen Baldwin

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Bieber has been bonding with his future father-in-law.
The ‘Love Yourself’ hitmaker and Stephen Baldwin spent Monday (10.09.18) at a music festival in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and were even photographed with their arms around one another when they headed back to their hotel.
The pair were without Justin’s fiancee, Stephen’s daughter Hailey Baldwin, because she’s busy working at New York Fashion Week.
Meanwhile, Stephen’s brother, Alec Baldwin, has advised his niece and her pop star partner to put their relationship ahead of their careers if they want their marriage to be a success.
He told etalk: “People who get married young – and they are very young – I want them to just spend time with each other. Obviously, [Justin] in particular has this crazy superstar career. When you’re married … like, right now, I’m quite a bit older than both of them, but I got married recently a few years ago. And my wife and I had four kids in four-and-a-half years. We have a lot of little kids.
“The thing is, all the work I do now is based on my family. There are movies I got offered where they say, ‘Come leave town for five weeks. No, we can’t travel your family with you, we don’t have that in the budget.’ And I pass because I don’t want to be away from my family. And I hope that they realise that. If you want to have a successful marriage, you have to be together. You gotta stay together.”
Justin decided he wanted to be with Hayley after taking a break from the spotlight.
A source shared previously: “Justin has always been in love with Hailey and is looking forward to being married. Justin has been in the spotlight for a long time, and his childhood was accelerated. After years of ups and downs, Justin took some time to evaluate everything in his life, took time off his tour [and] music and got to enjoy a more simple life. With that time, Justin knew he wanted to spend his time with Hailey and have a future with her. Wedding planning hasn’t really started other than talking about what the couple would like when they do tie the knot.”

Taylor Kinney proud of Lady Gaga

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Kinney is “proud” of Lady Gaga.
The 37-year-old actor has given his full support to his former fiancee – who he split from in July 2016 after five years together – and hopes her new movie, ‘A Star Is Born’, is hugely successful.
Asked how he feels about the singer’s move into movies, he told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “Proud. Only proud. I want it to do really, really well.”
Meanwhile, Gaga recently spoke of the “instant connection” she felt to her ‘A Star is Born’ co-star and director, Bradley Cooper, when they met for the first time to discuss the project over pasta and her piano.
She said: “”I opened the door, and the second I looked into his eyes I felt an instant connection to him.
“We’re both from the east coast, we’re both coming from Italian families, I was like ‘Are you hungry?’ I cooked him up some leftover pasta, and we were eating, and before I knew it, he said ‘I would like to sing with you, if that’s OK.’
“And we went to the piano, and I printed out the sheet music for a song that he wanted to sing called ‘Midnight Special.’ ”
Gaga admitted she wasn’t prepared for how “incredible” Bradley’s singing voice was.
She added: “I sat down and started to play, and he began to sing and I just stopped instantly in my tracks, and I looked at him and I said, ‘Bradley, you have an incredible voice, you sing from your gut, you sing from your soul, you sing from the nectar of your being.’
“He said, ‘Should we film it?’ So he filmed it on his iPhone, and we all of a sudden started to sing together, harmonising and laughing, and looking at each other.
“It was instantaneous, and I knew in this moment that I could make this film with him, and I truly believe that there’s no other actor or director in the world that could have played this role or made this film.
“There’s no other actor that could play a rock star, he’s the only one.”

Lil Xan’s tattoo tribute to Mac Miller

OHMYGOSSIP — Lil Xan has had a tribute to Mac Miller tattooed on his face.
The 22-year-old rapper was left heartbroken when his “hero” died on Friday (07.09.18) following an apparent overdose and he’s had a new inking over his right eyebrow to honour his friend.
The tattoo is of the Latin phrase “Memento Mori”, which translates as “Remember that you will die”.
He shared a photo of his new body art on Instagram and wrote: “MOMENTO MORI [broken heart emoji]. Miss you Mac, y’all can start hating me now.”
A number of commenters on the post criticised the tattoo but Xan – who has several other inkings on his face – defended his decision to make himself look “ugly”.
Showing off another new facial tattoo, of liquid dripping under his right eye, he posted: “I do this for me.
“I could care less if this makes me ugly because that’s what I was going for, Ugly is the new beautiful, well not really but there’s some truth to that, I love you guys [broken heart emoji] (sic)”
Following Mac’s death, the ‘Betrayed’ rapper – whose real name is Diego Leanos – admitted the tragedy had made him want to quit music.
He said: “The Mac s**t is crazy.
“I’ve been crying in my apartment, Mac didn’t die, Mac didn’t overdose…
“When your hero dies, f**k that s**t, I don’t want to make music no more… [I’m] retiring after this contract.”
Xan recalled the last time he saw Mac, at his last show, which was the “third or fourth time” they had hung out together, but there’s one memory that will always stay with him.
He explained: “Before I left, he was like ‘Be safe.’ People say that you know, like ‘be safe.’ But he grabbed me, and he pulled me back and he was like ‘No I mean BE SAFE.’ That almost made me cry, that’s my idol right there.
“I keep thinking about that, how it resonated in my head, how those were his last words.”

EastEnders cast Stuart Highway’s daughter

OHMYGOSSIP — Faye Daveney has joined ‘EastEnders’ as Stuart Highway’s estranged daughter.
The former ‘The Bill’ actress will portray Zara in the BBC One soap, and the no-nonsense character will kick off when she finds out her father Stuart – played by Ricky Champ – has been shot.
A TV source said: “Faye will only be in it for a few episodes but she sure makes a name for herself.”
Fiery Zara will waste no time making her mark in Albert Square when she slaps her uncle, Callum ‘Halfway’ Highway (Tony Clay) and rushes to the hospital to be with her dad.
The source added to The Sun’s Bizarre TV column: “Callum tells Zara about Stuart getting shot and she rushes to be at her father’s bedside.
“Zara demands answers from Halfway and tensions quickly rise and she ends up slapping her uncle.”
Stuart was recently shot in the latest ‘EastEnders’ whodunnit, and viewers are yet to discover the identity of the attacker.
But Ricky did himself some real damage while shooting a scene with Danny Dyer – who plays Mick Carter – recently, leaving him requiring hospital treatment.
He was left with a hairline fracture in his foot while portraying his character smashing up his flat following a massive fight with Queen Vic landlord Mick.
Ricky recently said: “I had to trash the apartment where I live and smash down on a table, it was a small hairline fracture in a metatarsal, a footballer’s injury.
“I had a nice schedule afterwards, got to sit down … it was fine in the end.”
‘EastEnders’ were recently forced to defend the soap after police chiefs issued a warning to the public advising against becoming predator hunters, after Stuart was revealed to be a paedophile-hunter.
An ‘EastEnders’ spokesperson said: “At no point is ‘EastEnders’ encouraging or glamorising predator hunting.”

Matthew Wolfenden hasn’t watched Emmerdale for 6 years

OHMYGOSSIP — Matthew Wolfenden hasn’t watched himself on ‘Emmerdale’ for six years – because he was making himself “miserable” by picking apart his performances.
The 38-year-old actor – who plays David Metcalfe in the ITV soap – has to fast-forward his scenes because he was criticising himself so much it was “affecting [his] work”, but his co-star and wife Charley Webb (Debbie Dingle) watches every episode.
He said: “Charley loves the show and she’ll watch every episode. I love the show but I can’t watch myself.
“I hate it and I have to fast-forward through my parts. It’s been about six years since I last watched myself.
“I found I was picking holes in my performance and going into work and feeling miserable and it was affecting my work.”
Matthew had to stop watching himself on the soap of an evening to be able to “enjoy going to work again”, but admitted he must be doing something right because he has been playing David since 2006.
He said: “It’s not that I’d done anything bad, I’m just one of those people who pick holes in myself, so I had to stop watching myself to enjoy going to work again.
“If they keep employing me, they obviously like me.”
Charley – who has sons Buster, eight, and two-year-old Bowie with Matthew – has portrayed Debbie since 2002 and she “loves” being on the soap as long as she is given regular new storylines.
In a joint interview with Matthew, she told OK! magazine: “I do love it there. As long as I’m busy and doing new stuff, I really enjoy it.
“The job’s great and I get to go home to the kids each night, and that’s really important to me right now.”

Gregg Wallace moves mother-in-law into house

OHMYGOSSIP — Gregg Wallace has moved his mother-in-law into his house to make him feel “more secure”.
The ‘MasterChef’ co-host and his wife Anne-Marie, 32, now live under the same roof as her mother, 57-year-old mum Rina Sterpini, and the “insecure” TV presenter admits it is a “good” arrangement because it will be harder for his significant other to leave him.
He said: “Anne can’t leave me because mum would have to leave as well, so for an insecure old man with a younger woman, that’s good news.
“It’s made a family home for them now Anne and her mum are here all the time.”
Gregg is also set to welcome his father-in-law into his home, which could give him and Anne-Marie some extra support should their fertility treatment be successful.
The former greengrocer – who has children, Tom, 24, and Libby, 21, from his second marriage to ex-wife Denise – said: “When you fall in love with a younger woman, you’ve got to realise they are going to want a family.”
The ex-‘Saturday Kitchen’ presenter’s wife does the cooking for the trio in their abode, and she and Rina share the housework, and Gregg admits the pair take their “old-fashioned” roles “very seriously”.
Speaking to the Mail on Sunday’s Event magazine, he added: “Anne, by her choice, doesn’t work. They’re funny, these southern Italians, very old-fashioned.
“They take their roles very seriously.”
Gregg has previously admitted he fell in love with Anne-Marie – his fourth wife – after she tweeted about his duck and rhubarb dish.
He said: “When I was single, Twitter for me was like going fishing, what I found is it’s not a dating site, you can chat to people.
“Anna my beautiful wife – I’m very fortunate I’ve been with her for four years – and she just asked me about duck and rhubarb, which is a dish I cooked for the telly. I looked at her picture and said ‘Oh my word you’re a pretty girl.”

Michael K. Williams reveals his Star Wars ambition

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael K. Williams is eager to return to the ‘Star Wars’ franchise.
The 51-year-old actor was previously cast as Dryden Vos, a crime lord in ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’, and even though his scenes didn’t make the final edit after Ron Howard was brought in to direct the project, Michael doesn’t hold any bitterness towards the franchise.
He told Variety: “I have not had a chance to see ‘Solo’, but you know a shout out to my castmates, even though I didn’t make the final cut, they’re still my castmates. I love you guys.”
Michael is keen to finally see the movie, but his biggest ambition is to make a return to the franchise.
He said: “I’m quite sure I’ll get around to it [seeing ‘Solo’] but I’m more interested in getting another shot in being in that galaxy … I would love another opportunity to make it happen.”
‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ performed poorly at the global box office and, ultimately, the much-hyped movie failed to break even.
Despite this, the director previously defended the film, insisting he was proud of his effort and of the cast.
Ron tweeted: “I’m proud of #SoloAStarWarsStory and the cast & crew worked hard to give fans a fun new addition.
“As a director I feel badly when people who I believe (& exit polls show) will very likely enjoy a movie … don’t see it on a big screen w/great sound. (sic)”

Viola Davis relishes playing a character in ‘dire circumstances’

OHMYGOSSIP — Viola Davis relished playing a character who finds herself in “dire circumstances” in ‘Widows’.
The 53-year-old actress stars in the new Steve McQueen-directed drama, which tells the story of four women who unite to repay the debt left by their criminal husbands, and Viola has revealed why she found her role so appealing.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: “I think it’s only when you’re in dire circumstances that you see what you’re made of. When you have it easy, you can definitely wear the mask of grins and lies.
“Change happens when you’re forced into it, kicking and screaming. And these women are forced to take control of their lives.”
McQueen previously revealed good fortune played a big part in making the new movie, which is inspired by Lynda La Plante’s ground-breaking TV drama of the same name.
McQueen admitted he only pursued the project after a fortuitous meeting with the British screenwriter.
He recalled: “I met Lynda La Plante at Buckingham Palace, as you do, lining up to meet the Queen at an arts event – Lenny Henry and Angela Lansbury were there – and I asked her what happened to the movie rights to ‘Widows’.”
At the time, the rights belonged to Disney – but New Regency, the studio through which he made ’12 Years A Slave’, subsequently purchased the film.
McQueen subsequently set to work on a contemporary version of the show with an added touch of politics.
He explained: “I wanted to understand what makes a big city tick, as four women are organising a big heist with the clock ticking against them.”

Interpool’s Paul Banks awkward Quentin Tarantino encounter

OHMYGOSSIP — Interpol’s Paul Banks once embarrassed himself in front of Quentin Tarantino.
The ‘Barricade’ hitmaker messed up his chances of becoming pals with the 55-year-old filmmaker as the ‘Pulp Fiction’ helmer called him out for not watching his movie ‘Django Unchained’ before attending the premiere after-party in 2012.
Recalling the awkward encounter, the 40-year-old musician – who was among the likes of disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein and cast members Uma Thurman, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx at the star-studded bash – told the Daily Star newspaper: “I met Tarantino once and blew it – it was my classic awkward moment.
“I was out for dinner and then got invited to an after party for his movie ‘Django Unchained’ by this publicist friend of mine.
“She walks me over to him, he’s there in some corner with Harvey Weinstein and Uma Thurman, a bunch of others and they introduced me as the guy from Interpol.
“Tarantino’s like: ‘Hey man what did you think of the movie?’
“For a split second I thought do I lie to Quentin Tarantino or just come clean and say: ‘I didn’t see the film, I’m just here for the party’.
“But before I could say anything he just yells: ‘Party foul!’ He turned and shouts it to the whole room and that was like it! Where could we go from there?
“I felt terrible because I love his work and I would have loved to have seen it.”
Meanwhile, Paul recently admitted that he doesn’t see himself performing with a full band in 30 years’ time, and will likely be retired or just doing the odd stripped back gig.
Asked if he sees himself rocking into his 70s, he replied; “When I’m 70?! I think I’ll probably be retired when I’m 70! Or maybe, maybe a wooden stool and an acoustic. Maybe that’s my future when I’m in my 70s.”
Interpol returned with their new album ‘Marauder’ last month – the follow-up to 2014’s ‘El Pintor’.

4U: A Symphonic Celebration of Prince features original arranger

OHMYGOSSIP — Questlove’s ‘4U: A Symphonic Celebration of Prince’ concert will feature the late music icon’s original arranger Brent Fischer.
The 47-year-old star has curated the forthcoming one-day event, described as “the first and only official Estate approved symphonic presentation of Prince’s music”, which is to be held at London’s Royal Albert Hall on December 13, in honour of the ‘Purple Rain’ hitmaker.
The 54-year-old composer, together with his late father, Dr. Clare Fischer, worked closely with Prince – who died last April at the age of 57 from a fentanyl overdose at his Paisley Park estate – over three decades.
Among their credits are the star’s albums ‘Sign O’ The Times’, ‘Graffiti Bridge’, and ‘Parade’.
The duo also co-wrote the arrangement for the ‘Raspberry Beret’ hitmaker’s famous 2004 ‘Prince Medley’ at the Grammys, which saw Brent join Beyonce and Prince as an orchestra percussionist during the ceremony.
On welcoming Brent on board, Questlove said: “In that respect, it feels completely apropos for the production to welcome Fischer’s orchestral arranging talents and production experience.”
And Brent added: “Questlove is one of the most innovative artists of today. Between his encyclopedic knowledge of and my history with Prince, we see eye-to-eye on so many creative levels and have a deep respect for preserving Prince’s amazing output.”
A full 27-piece orchestra will perform Prince’s timeless classics at the performance later this year.
Meanwhile, on September 14, the Prince Estate, in partnership with Warner Bros. Records, will release the ‘Piano & A Microphone’ LP.
The nine-track record features a previously unreleased home studio cassette recording of Prince at his piano captured in 1983.
Meanwhile, Prince’s estate and Legacy Recordings/Sony Entertainment Music have joined forces to release 35 of the legend’s previously released records, dating between 1978 and 2015, over the next few years.
Last month, 23 of the late music icon’s albums were made available on major streaming services.
Prince pulled all of his music from Spotify and Apple Music in 2015 leaving it only on Jay-Z’s TIDAL platform, before removing it entirely.
His music did return to most streaming services but a raft of rare songs and LPs from the star’s back catalogue were unleashed, as well as the greatest hits album ‘Prince Anthology: 1995-2010’, which is comprised of songs he recorded in that period.
The Anthology contains 37 of his most influential songs from that period which followed him breaking ties with Warner Bros. Records and it opens with ‘Emancipation’, the title track from the seminal 1996 triple album of the same name which celebrated the end of that business relationship.
Over 300 songs are available to stream online for the first time ever and there is also a brand new music video for ‘Black Sweat’, from 2006 LP ‘3121’.
Tickets for ‘4U: A Symphonic Celebration of Prince’ go on sale on September 14 at 9am via LiveNation.co.uk.
