OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Whittaker is being paid “no less” than any of her ‘Doctor Who’ predecessors.
The ‘Broadchurch’ star will make her debut as the Thirteenth Doctor – the first-ever female Time Lord – in the BBC sci-fi show’s new series next month, and the 36-year-old actress has been told she isn’t taking home a reduced salary compared to any of the former male Doctors.
She said: “I absolutely know I am not being paid less than any other Doctor.
“It is not the show to set that standard.
“This show is not the show that’s going to do that, and then have that [pay] revelation be the sidebar. It isn’t. Thank God.
“So that’s not going to have to fall on an awkward press conference.
“But am I aware of that [issue]? Yeah.”
Show runner Chris Chibnall added: “But also, so is everyone. So that’s not just Jodie’s responsibility.”
Jodie is “incredibly excited” to be a part of a “moment of change” by playing the type of role that hasn’t always been widely open to actresses in the past.
She added: “When I was growing up those characters didn’t look like us doing those things.
“Those were the white guys running about saving the day, doing really cool stuff, and if you were lucky, when I was a kid, you may be clapped at the side and may be passed something to help the really heroic moment happen.
“So to be in the moment of change for that is incredibly exciting, particularly because it’s in a world where it’s absolutely true of this character.”
But Chris recently revealed the new series will barely address the Time Lord’s change of gender.
He said: “The gender issue is pretty by-passed. It’s not really a kind of a gender-related story or anything like that.
“The first story is much more a story of survival for the new Doc.
“The last we saw of her she was falling through the air above planet Earth so it’s less about gender and more about: ‘How am I going to get out of this?’ ”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Patrick Stewart is set to star in the ‘Charlie’s Angels’ reboot.
The 78-year-old actor is said to be in final negotiations about joining Elizabeth Banks’ movie, which she will direct, produce and star in alongside Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska, who will portray the titular trio.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stewart will play Bosley, who was previously the face of the never-seen owner of detective agency Charlie Townsend.
In a new twist, there will be a number of characters called Bosley, one of which will also be played by Banks, who has penned the movie’s script alongside Jay Basu.
The Sony movie – a new take on the popular 70s TV show – will tell the story of the Charlie Townsend Agency, which has now become a security and intelligence service with teams across the globe.
The film will focus on one of those teams with Stewart, Scott and Balinska portraying the three Angels.
Banks will produce the motion picture alongside her husband Max Handelman, as well as Doug Belgrad and Elizabeth Cantillon.
Last month, Stewart revealed she had started boxing to ensure she is in the best possible shape to film the movie.
She said: “I have been boxing a bit, which I have never done. I am so addicted to it. As soon as I have to actually start sparring though, I realise what I am doing is intended to fight people. I am like, it really is assaulting and I really hate it.
“But all I am doing lately is talking to Liz, and can’t wait to meet the other girls and I leave on Sunday … gonna start doing more fight training, getting more aggressive quite soon.”
The TV series spawned a 2000 action-comedy film ‘Charlie’s Angels’, which saw Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Liu play the titular trio. They also returned for sequel ‘Full Throttle’ three years later.
‘Charlie’s Angels’ is expected to be released on September 27, 2019.

OHMYGOSSIP — Bryan Singer is reportedly in talks to direct an adaptation of ‘Red Sonja’.
The 53-year-old director – who helmed ‘The X-Men’ franchise – has reportedly been offered a big-money deal by Millennium to take over the reins of the big screen adaptation of the 1970s ‘Conan the Barbarian’ comic book spinoff.
According to ‘The Hollywood Reporter’, the independent film firm has slapped down a huge sum to secure Singer for director as they want to get the movie started as it has been in the works since 2008 when Robert Rodriguez teamed with his then-girlfriend Rose McGowan for the project before pulling out.
Millennium is financing and producing the new version of ‘Red Sonja’, while Ashley Miller – who wrote ‘X-Men: First Class’ – is penning the screenplay.
‘Red Sonja’ will be the first film Singer has worked on since he was fired by Fox after not showing up for work on the set of its Queen biopic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.
He was also dropped by his agency WME and has been relying on his lawyer David Feldman to help him bag the best deal when it comes to ‘Red Sonja’.
Singer has kept a relatively low profile since last year when he was accused of raping Cesar Sanchez-Guzman when he was a 17-year-old boy when the Me Too movement was set up following the Harvey Weinstein sexual abuse allegations.
The producer-and-writer denied all the allegations against him but decided to remove himself from the public eye while the investigation was ongoing.
This wasn’t the first time he found himself caught up in a sex abuse scandal though as he also faced similar accusations back in 2014 from multiple men.
He denied all of the allegations as soon as they came out.

OHMYGOSSIP — Slipknot are to re-release ‘All Hope is Gone’ to celebrate the record’s 10th anniversary.
The heavy metal outfit’s percussionist Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan has confirmed they will put out their fourth studio album – the group’s first to debut at number one on the Billboard chart – again, and has hinted the band will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut ‘Slipknot’ album next year in some way.
Speaking about how he once viewed “corporate” anniversary projects, he said: “I’m in a band and I can’t stand that. But now, I’m like, ‘Wow.’ For instance, I’m working for ‘All Hope Is Gone’, and what I’m doing is I’m using the stuff I would’ve never approved.
“Now I can look at it and go, ‘Wow. The fans need to see this.’ ”
When asked if there could be something next year to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the ‘Spit it Out’ hitmakers’ self-titled debut album, which dropped in 1999, Shawn replied: “Oh, for sure.”
The ‘Wait and Bleed’ hitmakers entered a temporary hiatus in 2016, and while Shawn admitted the band are still having some time off, they are “really, really looking to the future”.
Speaking to The Des Moines Register, he added: “We still have a lot of time left of this year.
“We’re still off. It’s gonna be a minute for new music and new stuff. But … I’m here. So keep your eyes and ears open.”
Slipknot haven’t released a new album since 2014’s ‘.5: The Gray Chapter’, but in April frontman Corey Taylor revealed the group were working on new music.
He said: “The guys are writing tons of music and I’ve written lyrics to almost all of it.
“We’re going to start trying to put together demos here and there with the time off that I have and really try to get ahead of the curve as far as what happens next.

OHMYGOSSIP — Machine Gun Kelly poked fun at Eminem’s age during his gig in Orlando over the weekend.
The rappers have been locked in a feud ever since the latter hit out at the ‘Bad Things’ hitmaker on the track ‘Not Alike’ on his surprise LP ‘Kamikaze’ last month, but it’s escalated further than just lyrics now as the 28-year-old star couldn’t resist mentioning his long-time enemy during his concert at the Amway Center in Florida on Sunday (16.09.18).
According to TMZ.com, MGK – whose real name is Richard Colson Baker – kicked off his set by shouting “F**k Marshall Mathers,” before he added: “The real Slim Shady can’t stand up.”
Eminem admitted he first dissed MGK because he accused him of hindering his career.
The ‘River’ rapper explained that he released ‘Not Alike’, which includes the line: “Now you wanna come and f**k with me, huh? / This little c**k-sucker, he must be feeling himself”, after his rival rapped about banning him from his radio station ‘Shade 45’.
However, he insisted that he’s not interested in wrecking MGK’s because there are “better” rappers out there and his name doesn’t even pop up in the list.
Eminem said recently: “The reason that I dissed him is because he got on – first he said, ‘I’m the greatest rapper alive since my favourite rapper banned me from ‘Shade 45,’ or whatever he said, right? Like I’m trying to hinder his career. I don’t give a f**k about your career. You think I actually f***in’ think about you? You know how many f***in’ rappers that are better than you? You’re not even in the f***in’ conversation.”
Eminem previously admitted his beef with Kelly isn’t about him calling his daughter Hailie “hot as f**k” in 2012.
He teased that his problem with the young star is “a lot more petty” than anything he’s ever said about the 22-year-old beauty on Twitter, after he hit back with ‘Not Alike’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Strictly Come Dancing’s Charles Venn has already lost weight from training.
The ‘Casualty’ star – who is known for playing hunky clinical nurse Jacob Masters in the medical drama – has only been preparing for the ballroom and latin show for the past few weeks but he’s already noticed his waist shrinking because his professional partner Karen Clifton has been putting him through his paces.
Speaking to the Radio Times magazine, the 45-year-old actor said: “This is my first time being asked to do the show, and I jumped at it. I’m hoping to master a few dance skills, and hopefully get as far as I can. I’ve seen Karen [Clifton] do her thing on the dancefloor and know she’s going to whip me into shape. I’ve already started dropping weight and seeing muscle definition I haven’t seen in years.”
But Charles will have some tough competition as his fellow ‘SCD’ contestant Faye Tozer is looking forward to shaking her stuff on the dance floor – even though the thought of performing live on television fills her with “dread.”
The Steps singer explained: “What fills me with dread is the idea of going on TV and dancing live in front of so many people. But I was born for this. More sequins, more spray tan, more feathers. I’m ready – throw it at me.
“I’ve been wanting to do ‘Strictly…’ for years! I’m a huge fan. I had preconceived ideas about what it was going to be like, but it’s everything and more.”
And the 42-year-old beauty – who is paired with Giovanni Pernice – is looking forward to seeing how her son Benjamin, whom she has with her husband Michael Smith, reacts to seeing her “twirling around on telly” every weekend.

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Copley has joined ‘Emmerdale’ as Charity Dingle’s dad.
The ‘Downton Abbey’ actor – who played Mr. Mason in the period drama – will make his debut as Obadiah Dingle next week when Charity (Emma Atkins) goes on a “drunken mission” to find her father after she overhears her ex Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) slamming her.
Emma said: “She goes in search of her dad. She doesn’t intend to do it but she gets extremely drunk after the Dingles hold a court.
“She can’t bear it, she overhears Cain saying to everyone, ‘She’s a loser, she always will be. She’s never going to get herself right because she’s damaged goods.’ ”
Charity is a “loose cannon” after DI Bails was found guilty of rape, wrongful imprisonment and prostitution last week and sentenced to 30 years in prison, following his horrific crimes against her during her youth.
And she will seek out more life answers from her father next week.
Emma added: “She goes with anticipation, but she’s more or less sure she’s going to get what she got many years ago, a cantankerous kind of guy who has no patience for her.
“But she wants answers and she’s determined to get them.
“She knows how to handle him and what to expect.”
The 43-year-old actress recently admitted Charity’s court case was the most “terrifying” thing she’s ever had to endure.
She said: “It’s the most terrifying thing she’s had to go through. Charity has to rake up this ordeal in front of strangers and she knows it’s going to feel unpleasant.
“It’s everything you don’t want to say out loud – all the nitty gritty about her dark past. She knows what she’s got to do, but deep down there’s a lot fear, anticipation and worry.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel Brosnahan used her Primetime Emmy Awards acceptance speech to urge people to vote.
The 27-year-old actress picked up the Lead Actress in a Comedy Series prize for her role as Midge in ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ on Monday (17.09.18) and she urged her “captive” audience at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theatre, as well as viewers at home, to use their voice in an “important” way by staying engaged with politics.
After thanking cast, crew, producers and creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, she said: “One of the things I love the most about this show while I have you captive for another two seconds, it’s about a woman who is finding her voice anew.
“It’s something that’s happening all over the country right now. One of the most important ways that we can find and use our voices is to vote. So if you haven’t already registered, do it on your cell phone right now. Vote, show up, and bring a friend to the polls. Thank you so much.”
Rachel beat out ‘Mom’s Allison Janney, Issa Rae from ‘Insecure’, ‘Better Things’ star Pamela Adlon, ‘Black-ish’ actress Tracee Ellis Ross, and ‘Grace and Frankie’s Lily Tomlin to take the award, and was the first new winner in the category since 2012, the year ‘Veep’s Julia Louis-Dreyfus began her successful streak at the ceremony.
Her win added to the Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series win for her co-star Alex Borstein, and both Writing and Directing in a Comedy Series for creator Amy, who made history as the first woman to win the awards.
Meanwhile, ‘Barry’ actor Bill Hader was stunned to be named Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
Thanking co-stars including Henry Winkler – who won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role on the show – and Sarah Goldberg, he quipped: “I did not think this would happen.
“I took classes at Second City LA. I was taught there that you should always make the other people look good so I hired other great actors who made me look good.”
Bill was shortlisted for the accolade alongside Larry David for ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’, Anthony Anderson for ‘Black-ish’, ‘Shameless’ star William H. Macy, ‘The Good Place’ actor Ted Danson and Donald Glover for ‘Atlanta’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Thandie Newton thanked a female God at the Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday (17.09.18).
The 45-year-old laughter sparked laughter inside Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theatre when she got on stage to accept the Supporting Actress in a Drama Series prize for her role in ‘Westworld’ and made the religious quip as she opened her speech.
She said: “I don’t even believe in god but I’m going to thank her tonight.
“I am so blessed. I am so blessed… To work with the people that I have gotten to work with. The cast and crew of – I can’t believe I’m here – the cast and crew of ‘Westworld’, I love you all so much.”
Thandie – who has children Ripley, 18, Nico, 14, and Brooker, four, with husband Ol Parker – then gave a special shout-out to her oldest daughter.
She said: “My family, my daughter Ripley turns 18 today and I get to guide you and love you and protect you, which is my north star. I love you so much, baby. Thank you, thank you for this.”
Thandie beat out Alexis Bledel from ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’, Lena Headey of ‘Game of Thrones’, Millie Bobby Brown from ‘Stranger Things’, Ann Dowd from ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’, Vanessa Kirby of ‘The Crown’ and Yvonne Strahovski from ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’.
Peter Dinklage took the Supporting Actor in a Drama Series award for his portrayal of Tyrion Lannister in ‘Game of Thrones’ and paid a special tribute to his wife Erica Schmidt after admitting he forgot to thank her when he previously scooped the same prize in 2015.
He said: “Thank you, Erica, for putting up with me. I’m very temperamental and I love you very much.”
And the 49-year-old actor – who has won the award three times and is the most nominated in the category of all time – also praised showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss and author George R.R. Martin in his speech.
He said: “Thank you for changing my life. I cannot walk down the street anymore. George Martin for creating this darn thing.”
Peter’s co-star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays his brother Jaime Lannister, was also nominated for the award and his friend pledged to share the win with him.
He said: “Thank you to my brother from another mother, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. I love you, and I share this with you because you are an amazing, handsome brother.”
Other nominees for the honour included ‘Homeland’ star Mandy Patinkin, ‘Stranger Things’ actor David Harbour, ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’s Joseph Fiennes and ‘The Crown’s Matt Smith.
‘Game of Thrones’ also scooped the prestigious Drama Series award.

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ was the big winner at this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards, taking home five prizes.
The Amazon show scooped the prestigious Outstanding Comedy Series – beating the likes of ‘Atlanta’, ‘Barry’, ‘Black-ish’, ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’, ‘GLOW’, ‘Silicon Valley’ and ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ – at the ceremony at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater on Monday (17.09.18), while there were also wins for stars Rachel Brosnahan and Alex Borstein in the Leading and Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series categories.
‘Veep’s hiatus meant Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ six-year winning streak came to an end when Rachel took the Leading Actress honour, and the 27-year-old star paid tribute to creators Dan Palladino and Amy Sherman-Palladino as she picked up her prize.
She said: “I’ll be thanking you for the rest of my life for trusting me with your Midge.”
And creator Amy made history as the first woman to win the prizes for Writing and Directing a comedy series.
As she picked up the writing honour, she quipped: “Whoever put that carpet down hates women. I just want to say Time’s Up!
“My father inspired this, really, so I had to turn a six-foot-two Bronx Jew into Rachel Brosnahan. That’s Hollywood!”
And taking her second prize, she joked: “My panic room’s gonna be so pretty!”
She then added: “It takes a giant village full of union crew members to make sure that Maisel goes out on the streets of New York and takes your parking spaces away from you.
“So to my crew, my crew, my crew, you are my everything. I worship you.”
Elsewhere at the ceremony, the coveted Outstanding Drama Series prize went to ‘Game of Thrones’, while its star Peter Dinklage won the Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
‘The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story’ was named Outstanding Limited Series, and there were also wins for its director Ryan Murphy and actor Darren Criss.
The final season of ‘The Americans’ saw Matthew Rhys win Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for the first time, and it was also honoured with a writing prize, while another star departing their role, ‘The Crown’s Claire Foy took Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
‘Barry’ cast members Bill Hader and Henry Winkler took home Lead and Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series awards respectively.
Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series went to Thandie Newton for ‘Westworld’ while ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ was named Outstanding Reality/Competition Series.
This year, the annual ceremony was hosted by Michael Che and Colin Jost.

OHMYGOSSIP — Evan Rachel Wood was accompanied to the Primetime Emmy Awards by Nobel Peace Prize nominee Amanda Nguyen.
The ‘Westworld’ actress walked the red carpet at Los Angeles Microsoft Theatre on Monday (17.09.18) with the activist – who created the Sexual Assault Survivors’ Bill of Rights – because she’s determined to use her high profile “for good”.
She said: “I think we’re at a crucial time in history right now, especially for women and civil rights. If I have even a little bit of power, I’m going to use it for good.
“I’m here to also support ACLU and families separated at the border. It’s what I’m compelled to do. Amand is certainly someone who has inspired me to do more.”
And Amanda, who “connected” with the 31-year-old beauty at the Women’s March – expressed her gratitude to the ‘Wrestler’ actress for taking her to the event.
She said: “Thank you Evan for lending my your platform for us to fight for survivors of civil rights, I’m so grateful and so are my team.”
When it comes to her own work and activism commitments, Evan – who has a five-year-old son with ex-husband Jamie Bell – knows it is important to “tap out” and take the time to care for herself.
She told E! News: “You have to plan for self-care and you have to know when to tap out. I love it. I’ve seen the impact that it’s had on people. I love the people I work with, being creative and inspired, moving progress forward through art, through pushing the boundaries and change and being slightly out there… That’s how I’ve always been.”
And Evan urged fans looking to her for advice and support to love themselves and appreciate how strong they really are.
She said: “Just make sure you take care of yourself and love yourself first. That is the foundation of everything. If you have that, you can get through anything.
“I think we’re all stronger than we realise. People have an infinite amount of strength in them. It’s there. Be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Dinklage found it “very sad” saying goodbye to ‘Game of Thrones’.
The 49-year-old actor shot his final scenes as Tyrion Lannister in July and admitted it was particularly difficult to draw the project to a close because he had “developed deep roots” in many of the areas he shot the drama in because it was so far away from the home he shares with wife Erica Schmidt and their two children.
Speaking backstage at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater after winning the Supporting Actor in a Drama Emmy Award on Monday (17.09.18), he told reporters: “I had my last day on set in July, just over two months ago now and it was very sad.
“This is not only a great TV show to be a part of, but it was an enormous family to be a part of.
“I’m sure you’ve heard that before from actors but in this case I was far from home, I live in New York and we shot the show in Europe, so many times I had to stay there and couldn’t go home on the weekends and I really developed deep roots in the community of Ireland and some of the other countries we shot in.
“It was definitely hard to say goodbye, because it wasn’t just saying goodbye to the show, I was saying goodbye to a life over there.”
And the actor admitted it will be hard to “top” both the success and the experience he had working on the fantasy saga.
He said: “How do I top this? You just keep searching, hoping the next writer you come across is equally as talented as David Benioff and Dan Weiss.”
Though Peter could never have predicted the success of the show – which scooped the Outstanding Drama prize at the Primetime Emmys – he praised the response of audiences as “beautiful”.
He said: “I absolutely adored this character and the stories we were telling so it’s so beautiful when other people end up feeling the same way you do.”
And the actor also admitted he initially had some “concerns” about taking on his role.
He said: “I had concerns about this genre, I wasn’t familiar with the books or the complexity of Tyrion before this because unfortunately before this character, many times people my size weren’t interesting enough for me to be interested in doing it.
“I had done it one or two times before and it sort of didn’t you know, grab me but they relieved by concerns very quickly.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel Brosnahan feels like the “new kid at the party” after winning an Emmy Award.
The 27-year-old actress scooped the Lead Actress in a Comedy Series accolade at the Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday (17.09.18) for her role in ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ and she praised showrunners Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino for their support and guidance on the programme.
Speaking to reporters backstage at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theatre, she said: “This is very, very new — I feel like the new kid at the party. It’s very new but I’ve had incredible teachers, Amy and Dan have been the gods and fearless leaders and I’m so, so grateful for their guidance on this.
And the brunette beauty admitted the role, and its popularity, had come as a surprise to her, though she’s grateful the show has done so well.
She said: “This is a dream I didn’t know I had. If you had told me five years ago that I’d be playing a stand-up comedian on television, I would have told you to sit down.
“But I’ve always wanted to play complex and interesting and grounded women and this has been an opportunity to do that.
“We’ve put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into it and the acceptance of the show has been lifeblood for us.
“There’s so much good TV out there and it’s incredible to know we’ve made something people love as much as we do.”
Rachel believes the Amazon series has struck a chord with audiences because it successfully mixes “fantasy and reality” to come up with an aspirational tale.
She said: “The show is equal parts fantasy and reality. It has beautiful clothes and sets. It’s aspirational too; it’s about a woman reinventing herself … and it’s never too late to do that.
“And it’s funny and filled with joy at its core — and that’s something we need a lot more of right now.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel’s son is “growing up” fast and has just started school.
The superstar couple’s three-year-old boy Silas is getting “big” now, and the proud parents are delighted to be ticking off another milestone in his development.
Speaking to ‘Extra’ at the Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday (17.09.18), Jessica revealed: “He’s sooo good, sooo big — he started school today, pre- pre-K… it’s a big deal…
“He’s just getting so big and so funny. He has beautiful long hair that we haven’t cut yet. He’s just growing up.”
The loved-up pair – who got married in 2012 after dating for five years – recently took a family trip to Italy, with Jessica, 36, admitting the European country is their “happy place”.
Her 37-year-old husband added: “If you don’t have fun in Italy, there’s something wrong with you.”
Although their busy globe-trotting careers often separate them, the actors believe their marriage is solid because they work hard to keep the peace and understand one another.
The brunette beauty recently said: “We’re lucky enough to go and stay in different places and live in different places while we work and that’s definitely part [of having a strong marriage].
“But, honestly, I just really feel like you have to work hard. That doesn’t change if you work at home or in an office or you’re on a tour. It doesn’t change, the work doesn’t change. Being devoted to the relationship is our biggest priority.”
Despite trying to make time for date nights while Justin is on the road touring, Jessica has admitted they tend to opt for cosy time in the hotel room.
She explained: “Yes, we’re in these amazing places, but a lot of times we’re trying to protect his immunity and protect his body from breaking down.
“A date night for us would be just sitting in the hotel and having room service and watching a movie — just like everybody else.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Dyer was “really pleased” to “delve into the darkness” of prison life in his latest ‘EastEnders’ storyline.
The 41-year-old actor’s alter-ego Mick Carter is behind bars for the attempted murder of Stuart Highway (Ricky Champ) after the calculated character claimed his former pal shot him, and the ‘Football Factory’ actor was pleased the scriptwriters decided to “focus” on the goings-on in jail.
He said: “What I was really pleased about was we don’t just leave it at the gates, we actually delve into the darkness of what it’s like to try and survive in prison.
“I’m happy to be focused on that. With Stuart all bets are off, anything can happen, so it’s tied in lovely with that storyline.”
Danny “didn’t feel” as though he was appearing in ‘EastEnders’ during the prison scenes, but has praised the casting of Mick’s fellow cons.
He added: “The job changes when you go off the Square. We built a set within the studio and I was interacting with different characters so it didn’t feel like ‘EastEnders’ for a bit.
“I really think we’ve nailed it, it’s been very well cast.
“It was nice to get a bit of a fresh intake on how Mick would survive away from his family.”
But Danny’s daughter Dani Dyer won’t be coming to Mick’s rescue anytime soon, after she recently revealed show bosses have banned her from landing a part on the programme because it would spark a “massive outrage”.
She said: “I don’t know about ‘EastEnders’, they wouldn’t let me in it.
“They won’t let me, and are like, ‘it ain’t going to happen’.
“I think it’s because my dad is already on it so if I went on it there would be a massive outrage.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Montana Brown has hit out at Bear Grylls following her short stint on ‘Celebrity Island’.
The former ‘Love Island’ star quit the gruelling reality show after just a handful of days, and she has now blasted the programme’s narrator and star for dumping them on a Pacific land mass and heading off to a posh hotel.
She said: “He just dropped us off and went to the Four Seasons. T**t.”
The 23-year-old reality TV star has also hit out at fellow contestant Eric Roberts – who is the brother of film star Julia Roberts – claiming he “looked down” on her, and treated her “like s**t” on the programme.
She said: “There was Julia Roberts’ brother Eric on with us. He’s a bit of a k**b.
“He looked down on me the whole time. That’s the first time I felt someone didn’t like me for no reason and treated me like s**t.
“Towards the end he warmed up a little bit.
“But at the beginning I was like, ‘I cannot stay here with this t**t’.
“Everyone was climbing in his a******e, saying, ‘Eric you’re amazing!’ ”
Montana has insisted she struggled “mentally” on the island because she didn’t have any girls to talk to who were around the same age as her after actress Roxanne Pallett and journalist Paris Lees left the programme.
Speaking on Jamie Laing’s ‘Private Parts’ podcast, she added: “It’s not like reality shows where you’re with your friends and people are the same age, girls and guys, and it’s fun.
“I was on a show with all ages so I was the youngest and two of the girls left at the beginning and it was me and Jo Wood and she’s over 60.
“So I found it mentally tough because I felt like I didn’t click with anyone.
“Especially when you don’t have your phone, you feel so far away from home.
“And everyone’s like, ‘What were you doing in the 90s?’ and I’m like, ‘I was in a womb’.”
Montana has taken to Twitter to defend Paris after her performance on the show was criticised by a viewer.
She hit back: “Honestly people need to stop being so nasty! @TheIsland is bloody hard, of course Paris wanted to do well on it? If she had the energy to get s**t done, she would’ve done it! Her body did not cope well on the island and neither would most of yours so everyone needs to lay off! (sic)”
