Dani Dyer teases The Osbournes-style family show

OHMYGOSSIP — Dani Dyer has teased her family could “potentially” star in their own version of ‘The Osbournes’ next year.
The ‘Love Island’ winner has added fuel to the fire that she and her ‘EastEnders’ actor father Danny Dyer will have their own TV series, by saying the possible programme could be like Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne’s show – which aired between 2002 and 2005 on MTV and followed the famous family’s wild antics during their day-to-day lives.
Asked to confirm whether or not talks have taken place, Dani told Roman Kemp on Capital Breakfast: “Yes, there’s been talks about it, but we’re gonna see.
“You know, it’s one of them things that’s just like once you commit, you commit.”
Roman asked: “Yeah, and so that’s them asking for you as a family?”
Dani replied: “Yeah, as a family. Oh god, I’m giving out some spoilers!”
When Roman suggested that it would be like ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’, Dani said it would be more like ‘The Osbournes’.
When pressed for more details, the 22-year-old beauty – who is dating Jack Fincham – hinted: “It could possibly, potentially happen next year, yeah.”
Dani’s dad Danny, 41 – who portrays Queen Vic owner Mick Carter in the BBC One soap – recently gave fans hope about the show, admitting he would do it “for the right money”.
He said: “It’ll either be brilliant and amazing, or a total car crash. Maybe we should give it to them for the right money?”
Danny said he’s already working with his daughter on something top secret, and admitted he’d like them to both star on the big screen together.
He said: “We want to do a film together too, not just selling.”

Ken Dodd documentary set for BBC Two

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Ken Dodd’s life and career will be celebrated in a new BBC Two documentary.
The upcoming special programme, ‘Ken Dodd: How Tickled We Were’, is to pay tribute to the late comedy icon following his death in March 2018 at the age of 90.
His widow Lady Anne Dodd, who will be interviewed for the project, said: “When Ken passed away in the spring, I was overwhelmed by the outpouring of affection and love for him not only here in Liverpool but all over the nation.
“I’m delighted therefore that the BBC has chosen to honour Ken’s memory with this special documentary about his life’s work and his unique relationship with the British public.
“I’m looking forward to working with the producers on what I anticipate will be a very special film.”
The veteran entertainer captured the imaginations of fans across the UK, with a career spanning over 60 years from his first professional stage engagement in 1954, until his final hometown performance in Liverpool in December last year.
The highly anticipated documentary will cover his boyhood, growing up in Knotty Ash, his breakthrough and rapid rise to fame, and enduring popularity as both a comic and recording artist.
Described as “poignant and uplifting”, ‘How Tickled We Were’ will feature interviews with Ken’s friends, family, fellow performers and admirers.
Mark Wells, executive producer, said: “Nobody added more to the gaiety of our nation over such a long period than Sir Ken Dodd.
“He was a joyous entertainer, and – when he put the tickling sticks down – a fascinating man.
“It’s an honour to have the opportunity to share his story with BBC Two’s viewers.”
Rachel Ashdown, commissioning editor for the BBC, added: “From filling theatres to topping the charts, Sir Ken entertained generations of fans and this will be a wonderful opportunity to relive many of those golden moments.”
‘Ken Dodd: How Tickled We Were’ will air on BBC Two later this year.

Rita Simons meditated every day for 2 years to ‘calm down’

OHMYGOSSIP — Rita Simons meditated every day for two years to help herself “calm down”.
The former ‘EastEnders’ star suffers from insomnia due to her “overactive” brain and she has also suffered from anxiety for as long as she can remember, but she found it “life-changing” to meditate for 15 minutes a day.
She said: “I have traits of ADHD – I have overactive adrenal glands, which means I have to train a lot to get rid of excess energy.
“I’m confident, strong and not afraid of confrontation – you wouldn’t want to mess with me, but I do have anxiety.
“I’ve been anxious for as long as I can remember. For two years I religiously meditated every day for 15 minutes, and it was life-changing.
“I used the Headspace app – it really helped calm me down.”
While the 41-year-old star – who played Roxy Mitchell in the BBC One soap from 2007 to 2017 – can survive on four hours sleep, she sometimes cannot get any shut-eye at all and has to “stare at the wall for 12 hours” hoping she will drop off, which turns into an “all-nighter”.
She added to Closer magazine: “It’s been on and off since I was a kid. Some nights, I pull an all-nighter because my brain is overactive.
“I’ll stay up worrying about the same thing and, by 4am, it’s become the world’s biggest problem.
“I tend to stare at the wall for 12 hours, which is horrible. I feel horrendous all day, but I have to work and I’ve got kids to look after, so I get on with it.”
Rita recently admitted she suffers from numerous conditions, including OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) and depression, and said her insomnia is “like torture” at times.
She explained: “I suffer with a million ‘isms’, including ADHD.
“I also have really bad insomnia. The worst is when I can’t sleep at all and I’m up all night.
“Some nights I’m awake just staring at the wall. I don’t even watch TV or listen to music. It is awful. It is like torture.”

Ross Adams has Roxanne Pallett history

OHMYGOSSIP — Ross Adams has his “own history” with Roxanne Pallett which “didn’t end nicely”.
The 36-year-old actor has admitted in light of this year’s ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ controversy whereby the former ‘Emmerdale’ actress falsely accused Ryan Thomas, 34, of punching her and described him as a “woman beater”, Ross has praised the former ‘Coronation Street’ star’s “dignity” and revealed his own experience with Roxanne.
In a blog for OK! Online, the ‘Hollyoaks’ star wrote: “My heart has gone out to Ryan after watching the show, but in light of what he was accused of, I have to say I feel he has handled himself with grace, dignity and gentlemanly loveliness in what must’ve been extremely difficult and stressful circumstances.
“Like many others, I have my own history with Roxanne that ultimately didn’t end nicely, but as I like this blog to encourage positivity I won’t dwell on it.
“Instead, I’m wishing Ryan nothing but luck and happiness and I look forward to seeing the exciting things the future holds for him.”
Ryan – who went on to win the series – has since admitted he would be prepared to forgive Roxanne following her false allegation.
He said: “Can I be really, really honest I don’t know what’s been said about Roxanne I only know what I went through when I was in ‘Big Brother’.
“I really don’t wanna fuel something I feel Roxanne has gone through without me, you know coming out here, and I feel as if I don’t know enough about the outside world to start commenting.”
Following the ‘CBB’ controversy, several of Roxanne’s former ‘Emmerdale’ co-stars came out in support of Ryan, and revealed their own experiences with Roxanne.
Danny Miller tweeted: “Roxanne’s a known, compulsive liar. Ryan wouldn’t harm a fly. Horrible, attention seeking little liar. Goes from being upset & in pain to dancing & drinking – to going bed, crying she can’t sleep in the same room as Ryan, to worrying about being nominated? You be the judge #CBB (sic)”
Kelvin Fletcher wrote: “She’s not ‘mentally ill’ or in need of ‘help’. That denounces that people with actual mental health issues are as vindictive and menacing as her. They are not. There is a big difference. That was calculated and manipulative beyond belief. Ryan (sic)”

Adele thanks Lauryn Hill for inspiring her

OHMYGOSSIP — Adele has thanked Lauryn Hill for inspiring her career.
The ‘Someone Like You’ hitmaker attended the former Fugees star’s concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Tuesday night (18.09.18), and afterwards she took to Instagram to share her own personal memory of seeing the 43-year-old star in London, when she was just 10-years-old in 1999.
Heaping praise on the ‘Ready or Not’ singer’s 1998 debut solo LP ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ and for reaching levels she doesn’t believe she herself is capable of, Adele, 30, wrote alongside the record’s artwork: “I saw Lauryn Hill in 1999 at Brixton Academy when I was 10 years old. Tonight I saw her play at the Hollywood Bowl. I’ve just turned 30! What a woman what a record, by far Miseducation is my favorite record of all time. Such an honest representation of love and life, I feel I can relate too but also I know theres elements and levels i never will be able to. Ms Lauryn Hill was on form in every way possible. Thank you for the record of a life time, thank you for your wisdom! Thank you for existing. Happy 20th x (sic)”
Lauryn was recently forced to defended herself against claims she stole music for the album.
She penned a lengthy essay defending herself after jazz musician Robert Glasper claimed last month that Lauryn had “stolen all of [his] friends’ music” whilst making the record.
In 2001, Lauryn settled a lawsuit with four musicians from the album who claimed they had been denied writing credits.
In her essay, she wrote: “I apologise for the delay in getting this posted, I was late in hearing about it. I understand this is long, but my last interview was over a decade ago.
“The Miseducation was the first time I worked with musicians outside of the Fugees [whose] report and working relationship was clear. In an effort to create the same level of comfort, I may not have established the necessary boundaries and may have been more inviting than I should have been.
“In hindsight, I would have handled it differently for the removal of any confusion. And I have handled it differently since, I’m clear and I make clear before someone walks in the door what I am and am not looking for. I may have been inclusive, but these are my songs.”
She also refuted Glasper’s allegations that she was difficult to work with and she cut musicians’ pay when she was displeased with them.
Lauryn wrote: “Don’t have the details or recollection of cutting the band’s pay in half. If fees had been negotiated and confirmed without my knowledge, I may have asked for them to be adjusted. But I would never just cut a musician’s pay arbitrarily unless I had a legitimate reason. There are artists who do cut pay though, James Brown was notorious for docking musicians if they did something he didn’t like, I’m sure there are others.
“Men often can say ‘I want it done like this’ and not be challenged. The same rules don’t always apply for women who may be met with resistance. When this happens you replace that player with someone who respects you and the office you hold. (sic)”

David Beckham reveals inspiration behind Inter Miami badge

OHMYGOSSIP — David Beckham says the badge for his new soccer club Inter Miami FC is inspired by the “old South American crests”.
The retired former England captain is launching the new franchise in the MLS (Major League Soccer) and he was determined to create a memorable badge which paid tribute to the large Latino population in the American city and the original immigrants from South America.
The club logo has been created by designer Kimou Meyer who spent three years on his creation from start to finish and features two herons standing back-to-back with their legs forming an ‘M’ shape which symbolizes Miami.
In a video released on Inter Miami’s official Twitter page, said: “We wanted to gravitate to the old South American crests, it was something that really needed to go into the logo.
“Once I met Kimou, I knew they were the right people to work with. I knew that creatively, they would come up with something different.”
Kimou added that Beckham “liked the idea of a monogram-inspired mark with a symbol that would represent the club”.
Although the one-time LA Galaxy midfielder is happy with the creation, the name chose for his new club has been mocked by social media users.
One Twitter follower claimed the club moniker was “something a nine year old would come up with,” whilst another claimed it was the type of team name an amateur side would come up with, tweeting: “Pretty sure I’ve come up against a 5-a-side team called Inter Miami playing Powerleague before.”
Inter Miami will play their first season in the MLS in 2020 and Barcelona star striker Lionel Messi is wanted as their marquee signing.

Matthew Perry’s ‘serious’ condition

OHMYGOSSIP — Matthew Perry’s condition was “very serious” when he was hospitalised three months ago.
The former ‘Friends’ star revealed on last week that he had been staying in hospital for a lengthy three months after undergoing an emergency operation to fix a gastrointestinal perforation, which causes severe abdominal pain and tenderness and can be fatal.
And now, sources say he was “very sick” when he was taken into hospital, and his three month recovery time was needed as “healing can be complicated” following the surgery.
The source told People magazine: “Matthew was very sick when he was hospitalised; his condition was very serious. A gastrointestinal surgery is very complex, and the healing can be complicated.”
Matthew, 49, left hospital last week according to sources, just one day after taking to social media to reveal the news of his lengthy recovery time.
He wrote: “Three months in a hospital bed. Check.”
His representative first confirmed the need for surgery last month.
They said at the time: “Matthew recently underwent surgery in a Los Angeles hospital to repair a gastrointestinal perforation. He is grateful for the concern and asks for continued privacy as he heals.”
A gastrointestinal perforation or ruptured bowel occurs when a hole develops in the lining of the gastrointestinal tract and can be caused by illnesses such as Crohn’s disease, colitis and appendicitis.
Although it is usually repairable, doctors have to work fast to prevent the contents of the gastrointestinal tract from spilling out into the stomach and causing an infection.
Once an infection develops, it can lead to sepsis and ultimately cause death.
Exact details on Matthew’s surgery are still not known but he has been very open in the past about his struggles with alcohol abuse, which can contribute to digestive health issue.
The actor completed a 48-day programme in rehab for Vicodin addiction in 1997 after he turned to the drug to stop him from “drinking as much” as he was.
In 2001, he checked back into a rehab facility to recover from his use of Vicodin, methadone, amphetamines, and alcohol.
He said previously: “I’ve had a lot of ups and downs in my life and a lot of wonderful accolades but the best thing about me is that if an alcoholic comes up to me and says, ‘Will you help me stop drinking?’ I will say, ‘Yes. I know how to do that.’ ”

Carrie Underwood’s ‘miracle’ pregnancy

OHMYGOSSIP — Carrie Underwood believes her pregnancy is a “true miracle”.
The 35-year-old singer is expecting her second child with husband Mike Fisher – with whom she already shares three-year-old son Isaiah – and after revealing over the weekend that she tragically suffered three miscarriages between 2017 and the start of 2018, she couldn’t be more “thankful” to have a baby on the way.
A source said: “Carrie is so healthy and happy. Carrie and Mike are so thankful for this precious time, they are great parents and have always wanted more children so they believe this is a true miracle.”
The ‘Cry Pretty’ hitmaker had a rough year in 2017, after having not only suffered two of her three miscarriages, but also having a scary fall which resulted in a broken rise and 40 stitches on her face.
But the source insists she has “come a long way” in recent months, and has been “incredibly strong” in the face of her hardships.
The insider added to ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “2017 was one of the most challenging years of Carrie’s life. She had big plans for herself and every step of the way she faced roadblocks.
“Carrie is a great mother and an amazing performer and wanted 2017 to be her year. She made some big changes in management but dealing with her career, her miscarriages, her fall and losing part of her team was almost more than she could handle.
“She has come a long way and we are all so proud of her. She is incredibly strong. She has an incredibly supportive family and leaned on them and her closest friends to get through it all.”
This weekend, Carrie revealed she had endured three miscarriages in the last two years, and said she was left feeling “angry” by the ordeal.
She said: “I had always been afraid to be angry. Because we are so blessed. And my son, Isaiah, is the sweetest thing. And he’s the best thing in the world. And I’m like, ‘If we can never have any other kids, that’s okay, because he’s amazing.’ And I have this amazing life. Like, really, what can I complain about? I can’t. I have an incredible husband, incredible friends, an incredible job, an incredible kid. Can I be mad? No.
“[But after the miscarriages,] I got mad. [I thought], ‘Why on Earth do I keep getting pregnant if I can’t have a kid?’ Like, what is this? Shut the door. Like, do something. Either shut the door or let me have a kid.”

Kourtney Kardashian romancing Luka Sabbat?

OHMYGOSSIP — Kourtney Kardashian has reportedly struck up a romance with 20-year-old actor and model Luka Sabbat.
The 39-year-old reality star ended her romance with Younes Bendjima in early August after almost two years of dating, and it seems she’s already found someone new as sources say she has been quietly dating Luke – who is five years younger than Younes, and almost two decades younger than Kourtney – for around a month.
One insider said: “All of their friends know she’s head over heels for Luka. None of her friends liked Younes, and they all love Luka even though he’s only 20! They think he’s good for her, and he’s a very down to earth and good guy.”
Over the weekend, the ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ star – who has Mason, eight, Penelope, six, and Reign, three, with her former partner Scott Disick – was spotted at the opening of TAO Chicago with Luka, alongside her pals Malika Haqq, Jonathan Cheban, and Dave Grutman.
An onlooker told People magazine: “They were close to each other, and there was a sense of chemistry as the two were laughing and having fun together all night.”
Kourtney’s rumoured new romance comes after it was claimed she “distanced herself from her sisters” during her romance with 25-year-old Younes.
A source said: “Kourtney was always so private and closed off when it came to Younes, and that really distanced herself from her sisters. Things are fine with them now and I’m sure they’ll get even more back to normal now that it seems he’s out of the picture for good.
“This could be a really positive thing for her relationship with her family.”

Anna Faris uses cooking to bond with her son

OHMYGOSSIP — Anna Faris says cooking meals with the help of her son has helped her form a “really close” bond with him.
The 41-year-old actress recently partnered with Uncle Ben’s for the Homework Pass Challenge – which allows children to swap tedious after-school activities with spending time in the kitchen – and has said her six-year-old son Jack loves to help her out with the cooking, and is even more willing to eat the foods that he’s helped plate up.
Anna – who shares her son with estranged husband Chris Pratt – said: “I grew up cooking with my mom, and it was such an important bonding time for me. My mom is a great cook, I love to cook but I’m not great.
“I started cooking with Jack at a really young age, and he loves it. It’s an activity that we can do together where I feel really close to him. I’ve also found that when he helps cook something, he’ll eat it.”
The ‘Mom’ star is eager for other parents to try cooking with the help of their children, through the Homework Pass scheme which is currently underway in 12 schools across the US.
She added to Us Weekly magazine: “It’s such a great idea. It makes kids feel like they get to spend time with their families without doing homework, but they are learning the whole time. For me, the family time is just so important.”
Meanwhile, the ‘House Bunny’ actress recently admitted she loves to embarrass her son, as he’s now getting to the age where he believes he’s too cool for his mother, and no longer tells her he loves her in public.
She said: “I think I always embarrass my son … Six months ago we would do this little game where I would say, ‘I love you to the moon and back’ and he would say ‘I love you to Jupiter and back’ and I would say ‘I love you to Uranus and back!’
“Recently he’s stopped doing that. I found myself doing that in public to him and I could tell that he was getting embarrassed. He’s like, ‘Mom, chill!'”

Burt Reynolds, Aretha Franklin honoured with Emmy’s In Memoriam

OHMYGOSSIP — Burt Reynolds, Anthony Bourdain, David Cassidy, and Aretha Franklin were among the stars honoured during the In Memoriam segment of the Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday (17.09.18).
The Television Academy paid tribute to a host of actors, writers, directors, producers and other entertainment professionals who passed away over the last 12 months in an emotional montage that was set to the sound of Aretha – who died last month aged 76 – singing ‘Amazing Grace’.
Tina Fey introduced the segment at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater with a touching speech about the connections viewers make with their favourite television stars.
She said: “Tonight, we celebrate the lives of some people who have been our very good friends.
“To work in TV is a privilege. We challenge your assumptions. We gently deliver bad news. We feel a responsibility to always tell you the truth.
“It’s understandable to feel that when someone from our favourite show has passed away, we feel like we have lost a friend because we have.”
Others featured in the segment included actors Reg E. Cathey, Jerry Van Dyke, Alan O’Neill and Jackson Odell, actresses Della Reese and Vanessa Marquez, producer Craig Zadan, sportscaster Dick Enberg, writer Steven Bocho, Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner and Arizona senator John McCain.
However, many fans were outraged that Mac Miller, who died from an apparent overdose earlier this month, wasn’t included in the segment, despite having had his own reality show, ‘Mac Miller and the Most Dope Family’, for two seasons in 2013-2014.
One Twitter user posted: “Honestly it’s shady they didn’t put Mac Miller in the In Memoriam part of the Emmys. Like he had his own show smh.(sic)”
Another wrote: “can’t believe that Mac Miller was not included in the emmys memorium for people lost this year when many singers/songwriters were included.(sic)”

The 25-year-old singer and her fiance Pete Davidson had been expected to be among the guests at the ceremony at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater on Monday (17.09.18) evening, but following the death of her former boyfriend Mac Miller from an apparent overdose 10 days ago and the terrorist attack at her concert in Manchester, North West England, in May 2017, she’s taking some time away from the spotlight.
Her representative told People magazine: “Contrary to reports, Ariana will not be attending the Emmys tonight.
“Pete has also opted to not attend to be with her in New York.
“Given the events of the past couple of years, Ariana is going to take some much needed time to heal and mend.”
The ‘No Tears Left to Cry’ singer is also planning to work on some new music without any pressure on her while she takes her time out.
The spokesperson added: “She will be staying close to home and using this period to spend time with her loved ones and work on new music without deadline. She thanks her fans for their understanding.”

Paul Weller’s daughter gets married

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Weller’s daughter has got married.
The 60-year-old ‘Modfather’ watched his daughter Leah – whom he has with his ex-wife Dee C. Lee – exchange vows with her Japanese Calvin Klein model partner Tomo Kurata at Goodwood House in West Sussex over the weekend.
The 26-year-old singer looked beautiful in a Riki Dalal white lace gown which she teamed with a pair of Vivienne Westwood white shoes and Tiffany & Co accessories, while the 28-year-old groom opted for a DAKS black suit and shirt, according to the MailOnline.
The brunette beauty – who is an animal rights activist – wanted her big day to be nothing less than perfect so she arranged for a vegan wedding cake to be made for the reception.
Despite wanting Leah to take centre stage on her special day, Paul couldn’t resist showing off his dance moves as he took to the floor for a father and daughter boogie.
Leah later took to her social networking sites to share a number of the professional photographs she and Tomo had posed for after they were declared husband and wife.
She captioned the shots: “Mr & Mrs
“Hair @tomoyukiandco @hannahillierphotography

She then shared a black and white photograph on her Twitter account of the pair having a sweet kiss and she simply captioned it with the date of her wedding: “15.09.18.”
The songwriter has also wasted no time changing her name on her social networking sites and has made it clear that rather than drop Weller, she’s merged her maiden name and marital name together to create Leah Weller-Kurata.

Julie Chen ‘to leave The Talk’

OHMYGOSSIP — Julie Chen is to leave ‘The Talk’.
The 48-year-old TV presenter is set to announce her departure from the CBS talk show in a video message on Tuesday’s (18.09.18) show, after her husband, CBS’s former chairman and CEO Les Moonves, left the corporation following sexual misconduct accusations made against him in July.
A source told CNN: “She has decided that her main focus needs to be clearing her husband’s name from accusations made 25-30 years ago and tending to her son.”
Another insider close to the show also confirmed to Deadline that Julie will announce her decision to quit the show on Tuesday.
Earlier this month, Julie took “a few days off” from ‘The Talk’ – which she has co-hosted since it began in 2010 – to spend time with her family after Les departed as chairman and CEO of CBS amid more sexual misconduct allegations, and she didn’t appear on Monday’s (18.09.18) episode.
She is expected to continue to host CBS reality show ‘Big Brother’, and on Thursday night’s (13.09.18) show she issued support for her husband, signing off by saying: “From outside the ‘Big Brother’ house with Brent, I’m Julie Chen Moonves. Good night.”
Julie’s ‘The Talk’ co-stars discussed her absence on the show earlier this month.
Sharon Osbourne said: “It’s very embarrassing and upsetting to have to talk about [Julie’s] husband, but… we feel it’s right.
“Obviously the man [Les] has a problem.”
Sara Gilbert said she will “always” support Julie, and added: “[This is] an important time in our culture.
“And just because this hits close to home, it doesn’t change this story. All women’s stories matter. This is very serious and the appropriate actions need to take place.”
Julie recently issued her support for her husband following the accusations.
She said in a statement: “Leslie is a good man and a loving father, devoted husband and inspiring corporate leader. He has always been a kind, decent and moral human being. I fully support my husband and stand behind him and his statement.”
Les denies the allegations and claims they are part of a “concerted effort” to bring him down.
On the day he left CBS, he said: “Untrue allegations from decades ago are now being made against me that are not consistent with who I am.”
Les previously said in a statement: “Throughout my time at CBS, we have promoted a culture of respect and opportunity for all employees, and have consistently found success elevating women to top executive positions across our company.
“I recognise that there were times decades ago when I may have made some women uncomfortable by making advances. Those were mistakes, and I regret them immensely.
“But I always understood and respected – and abided by the principle – that ‘no’ means ‘no,’ and I have never misused my position to harm or hinder anyone’s career.
“This is a time when we all are appropriately focused on how we help improve our society, and we at CBS are committed to being part of the solution.”

Jodie Whittaker paid ‘no less’ than male Doctor Who predecessors

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Whittaker is being paid “no less” than any of her ‘Doctor Who’ predecessors.
The ‘Broadchurch’ star will make her debut as the Thirteenth Doctor – the first-ever female Time Lord – in the BBC sci-fi show’s new series next month, and the 36-year-old actress has been told she isn’t taking home a reduced salary compared to any of the former male Doctors.
She said: “I absolutely know I am not being paid less than any other Doctor.
“It is not the show to set that standard.
“This show is not the show that’s going to do that, and then have that [pay] revelation be the sidebar. It isn’t. Thank God.
“So that’s not going to have to fall on an awkward press conference.
“But am I aware of that [issue]? Yeah.”
Show runner Chris Chibnall added: “But also, so is everyone. So that’s not just Jodie’s responsibility.”
Jodie is “incredibly excited” to be a part of a “moment of change” by playing the type of role that hasn’t always been widely open to actresses in the past.
She added: “When I was growing up those characters didn’t look like us doing those things.
“Those were the white guys running about saving the day, doing really cool stuff, and if you were lucky, when I was a kid, you may be clapped at the side and may be passed something to help the really heroic moment happen.
“So to be in the moment of change for that is incredibly exciting, particularly because it’s in a world where it’s absolutely true of this character.”
But Chris recently revealed the new series will barely address the Time Lord’s change of gender.
He said: “The gender issue is pretty by-passed. It’s not really a kind of a gender-related story or anything like that.
“The first story is much more a story of survival for the new Doc.
“The last we saw of her she was falling through the air above planet Earth so it’s less about gender and more about: ‘How am I going to get out of this?’ ”
