Charles Aznavour dead at 94

OHMYGOSSIP — Charles Aznavour has died.
The French singer – who was often hailed as the country’s own Frank Sinatra because of his similar vocal style – has passed away at the age of 94, his spokesperson has confirmed.
Tributes to the chanson singer were headed by France’s president Emmanuel Macron.
He tweeted: “Charles Aznavour was profoundly French, deeply attached to his Armenian roots and known throughout the world. He has accompanied the joys and pain of three generations. His masterpieces, the tone of his voice, his unique radiance will long survive him.”
He went on to reveal he had invited the singer to perform at the Francophonie Summit in the Armenian capital, Yerevan, later this month.
He added: “We share with the Armenian people the mourning of the French people.”
And Renaud Muselier, president of the Provence region of south-east France where Charles called home, said: “French culture has lost one if its greatest. He has left us a priceless body of work rich with more than 1,200 songs. A generous and charismatic singer, he leaves an immense emptiness.”
The ‘She’ singer – whose real name was Shahnour Varinag Aznavourian – began his music career in Paris cabarets during World War II and sold over 100 million records in 80 countries and had around 1,400 songs to his name.
He also had a successful acting career, appearing in the likes of ‘Tirez Sur le Pianiste’ (‘Shoot the Piano Player’), ‘Les Fantômes du Chapelier’ (‘The Hatter’s Ghost’), and the 1979 Oscar-winning film adaptation of Günter Grass’s ‘The Tin Drum’.
Despite his advancing years, Charles continued to perform live and after axing dates in Japan last summer due to a broken arm, he was due to return to the stage in Europe in November.
Just a few days ago, an interview with the singer was broadcast on French TV in which he said he “would die” if he could no longer work and vowed to live until he was 100.
He said: “Me, I cannot not live and I live on stage. I’m happy on stage and that’s obvious.
“My sister and I decided we’re going to pass 100 years. It’s on record. She doesn’t have the right to go back on it and neither do I.”

Nadine Mulkerrin and Rory Douglas-Speed’s Hollyoaks prank on parents

OHMYGOSSIP — Nadine Mulkerrin and Rory Douglas-Speed sent their parents pictures of themselves in their ‘Hollyoaks’ wedding outfits to pretend they’d eloped.
The real-life couple play soap love birds Joel Dexter and Cleo McQueen on the Channel 4 show and they couldn’t resist playing a prank on their mums and dads when they had to film their fictional big day, and they have joked the soap nuptials were “a rehearsal” for their own wedding.
He said: “It’s been so strange filming a wedding as we are together. Even back when Joel and Cleo got engaged I was so nervous, I went bright red. I was terrified – genuinely I was not acting in those scenes!
“It makes it interesting and Nadine and I have a laugh about it. We sent my family pictures of us in our characters’ wedding day costumes pretending we had eloped!
“We joke that it’s a rehearsal for us.”
Joel and Cleo will marry in a special episode next week to coincide with World Mental Health Day (10.10.18), and Rory has found it “tragic” to watch for his significant other’s character, who is suffering from bulimia, and also tough to see his girlfriend play out such a hard-hitting plot.
He added to RadioTimes.com: “Watching Nadine work and how raw her performance is – it’s so tragic for the character as everyone loves Cleo, and also because of my feelings for Nadine I don’t want to see her go through this, but she’s acting and to think people are struggling with this for real is so sad.
“As actors we get to voice somebody else’s life, that’s why we’re telling this story.”
Nadine has previously admitted she felt “ignorant and naive” about bulimia before she landed the storyline.
She said: “Before I took on this storyline I was quite ignorant and naive, I didn’t realise a lot of things. I thought bulimia was just about being skinny and losing weight.
“I didn’t realise it comes with so many different side effects and it’s about control and routine.
“With it being quite a dark, harrowing storyline and Cleo is in a negative head space, she’s really struggling, there’s been quite difficult scenes to emotionally. I just prepare for that emotionally and speaking to some of the ambassadors at Beat.”

Coronation Street’s Tracy Barlow to have ‘massive wedding meltdown’

OHMYGOSSIP — Coronation Street’s Tracy Barlow will have a “massive meltdown” on her wedding day.
Kate Ford, who plays the no-nonsense florist, has revealed her character fears the worst when she accuses her pal Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) of sleeping with her husband-to-be Steve McDonald on the morning of her big day, after she told him he had a “free pass”, meaning for a spa treatment rather than to play away.
She said: “Steve goes missing on the wedding morning and she starts to think about the free pass again, she puts two and two together makes five and decides he’s used the free pass on Abi.
“She has a massive meltdown, a huge row with Abi and then she goes to the garage and sabotages Michelle’s car, which Abi has been working on, in the hope Abi will get into trouble. She’s not thinking straight.”
As well as plenty of drama between Steve and Tracy, there are always comical scenes aplenty between the characters, and Kate loves playing out the humour in their relationship the most.
She added: “I’m really enjoying Steve and Tracy being back together and playing the humour in their relationship, we have such a laugh together, that’s where I’m happiest playing the comedy stuff with Simon.
“I’ve also had some great scenes with Bev [Callard, Liz McDonald] recently and it’s always nice being back in the Barlow house.”
But Kate has hinted Tracy and her adoptive half-brother Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) could come to blows in scenes to come, after he decides to have an impromptu wedding to Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn) on the same day as her marriage.
She added: “It’s not a great thing to do and I think on some level he’s enjoying it.
“There’s still a lot of tension between Tracy and Daniel, there’s more to play there, there’s some real hatred there after what happened with Ken, yet he still seems to be the golden child and Tracy resents that.”

Duchess of Sussex invited to join the Women’s Institute

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan, Duchess of Sussex is to be invited to join the Women’s Institute.
The 37-year-old royal – who married Prince Harry at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in May – is to be given the chance to join the organisation in the UK and thereby follow in the footsteps of other members of her family, including the Queen.
Vicky Booth – the secretary of East Sussex Women’s Institute – told The Sun newspaper: “It’d be lovely if she followed the example of other royals.
“An invitation might well happen. It wouldn’t matter if it was East or West Sussex. It would help raise the WI’s profile.”
The Queen and the Queen Mother have both served as the President of the Sandringham branch of the Women’s Institute, while Camilla is a member in Tetbury, Gloucestershire.
The organisation campaigns on behalf of women and seeks to provide them with educational opportunities.
Meanwhile, Nick Kent – the executive producer of the behind-the-scenes documentary ‘Queen of the World’ – recently hailed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as a “dream team”.
He shared: “She’s a professional in front of the camera. He and Meghan are a dream team.”
Nick also claimed that the former ‘Suits’ actress is already making a mark on the British royals.
The producer pointed to the Duchess’ wedding dress featuring a piece of the dress she wore on her first date with the Duke to prove his point.
He explained: “A powerful example of that is the piece of blue fabric in the [wedding] dress. That was a very private gesture that she made, to have that piece of fabric sewn in, nobody knew about that. The fact that she was happy to share that, you know, it’s quite an intimate insight.
“The other thing, is that it’s a mistake to think that the monarchy stays the same. In a sense, reinventing how you fulfil your duties as a member of the royal family is something that’s not a new thing. So in a funny way, she’s kind of following in the tradition of Queen herself and Princess Diana.”

He said: “What decided me was how much I enjoyed working with the Amazon team on ‘Good Omens’.
“They are smart, gloriously enthusiastic people, who weren’t afraid of ‘Good Omens’ being different but who were as determined as I was to make something as unique and exciting as it is.
“I’m thrilled to know that I’ll have a home at Amazon in the future where I can make television that nobody’s seen before, that’s quite unlike ‘Good Omens’, but just as unusual and just as much fun.”
And Amazon are delighted to have inked a deal with the “phenomenally talented” author and can’t wait to see what his “gifted vision” will bring to their audience.
Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios, said: “Neil Gaiman is a phenomenally talented writer, who creates worlds that are compelling, multi-dimensional and narratively unique.

Jamie Lee Curtis’ emotional Halloween shoot

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Lee Curtis had to “hold back crying” for every ‘Halloween’ scene she filmed.
The 59-year-old star will reprise her role as Laurie Strode in the upcoming reboot of the classic horror film and she admitted it was a very emotional shoot in Charleston, South Carolina, that left her feeling confused and isolated.
She said: “From the moment I showed up on that set, I started to cry.
“Every single scene I did, I had to hold back crying, every single scene. I was sitting on it all day, every day, alone, away from my family, away from my life, in Charleston, driving around. I didn’t know where the f**k I was, I was isolated like Laurie. I was a bit of a freak.”
Before making the movie, the actress and director David Gordon Green had a long conversation about what they thought had happened to her character – who is a twice-divorced grandmother in the new picture – after the events of the original film and how she had gone from having a bright future to being an isolated “freak”.
She told the New York Times newspaper: “When David and I sat down, I said to him, ‘What do you think happened to Laurie, November 1, 1978?’
“I think she went to school the next day. I think she was told, ‘Baby, you’re OK, you have a cut on your arm, [here’s] a bandage. And she went from being Laurie Strode, dreaming, idealised human being with her future in front of her — she would’ve gone to Brown, maybe majored in philosophy, gotten her doctorate — to a freak, which is what trauma and shame attaches to.
“When she walked down the hall of that school, all that happened were people going, ‘Oh my God, there’s Laurie Strode!’ ”

Molly Ringwald admits to being ‘bothered’ by Sixteen Candles scene

OHMYGOSSIP — Molly Ringwald has become “bothered” by a particular scene in ‘Sixteen Candles’ in light of the #MeToo movement.
The 50-year-old actress starred as 16-year-old Sam Baker in the John Hughes-directed coming-of-age comedy, but Molly has admitted her attitude towards one of the scenes has changed over time.
In the 1984 movie, Molly’s on-screen crush contemplates taking advantage of his passed-out girlfriend.
He says: “I’ve got Caroline in the bedroom right now passed out cold. I could violate her 10 different ways if I wanted to.”
Molly admitted the scene wouldn’t be acceptable to a modern-day audience.
She said: “I think, you know, as everyone says and I do believe is true, that times were different and what was acceptable then is definitely not acceptable now and nor should it have been then, but that’s sort of the way that it was…
“I feel very differently about the movies now and it’s a difficult position for me to be in because there’s a lot that I like about them. And of course I don’t want to appear ungrateful to John Hughes, but I do oppose a lot of what is in those movies.”
Molly admitted to feeling uneasy about ‘Sixteen Candles’ now that she has children of her own.
But she even had concerns about certain scenes as she was making the movie.
The actress – who has kids Mathilda, 14, and nine-year-olds Roman and Adele – told NPR: “I do see it differently. I mean, there were parts of that film that bothered me then. Although everybody likes to say that I had, you know, John Hughes’ ear and he did listen to me in a lot of ways, I wasn’t the filmmaker.
“And, you know, sometimes I would tell him, ‘Well, I think that this is kind of tacky’ or ‘I think that this is irrelevant’ or ‘this doesn’t ring true,’ and sometimes he would listen to me but in other cases he didn’t. And, you know, you don’t want to speak up too much.
“You don’t want to cross the line. Or at least that’s the way that I felt at the time.”

Lily Allen: Happiness is partying at Glastonbury

OHMYGOSSIP — Lily Allen thinks happiness is taking “your first E at Glastonbury”.
The 33-year-old singer – who has kids Marnie, five, and Ethel, six, with her ex-husband Sam Cooper – has revealed that while she’s in a “good place” in her life, she wouldn’t necessarily describe herself as being happy.
Lily – who is now in a relationship with MC Meridian Dan – told the new issue of Britain’s Cosmopolitan magazine: “Look, happiness for me is your first E at Glastonbury – that’s the happy place.
“I don’t think I’ve ever had that base level of happiness. What I see as being happy is that fake level of happiness because that’s what I’ve had from the spike in endorphins or whatever.
“But I’m in a happy relationship, my kids are thriving and I’m creating great music. I couldn’t really ask for much more. So, yeah, I’m in a good place.”
Last month, Lily revealed she doesn’t want her children to “blame themselves” for her past mistakes.
The ‘Apples’ singer – who recently published her memoir, ‘My Thoughts Exactly’ – said she preferred to be open and honest about her actions so her kids wouldn’t feel “neglected” or at fault for her bad decisions.
Lily – who was married to Sam from 2011 until their divorce earlier this year – admitted: “A lot of the decisions I made when my children were really, really small will have a lasting effect on them.
“If I don’t tell them the truth, they will internalise those feelings of neglect or whatever it was.
“I would rather they know it was mummy’s fault than think, ‘It’s my fault.'”
The full interview with Lily appears in the new issue of Cosmopolitan magazine, which is out on Wednesday (03.10.18).

Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin did marry

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin got married on the day they received their marriage license.
The ‘Baby’ singer and his model partner were rumoured to have tied the knot last month, but the 21-year-old beauty dismissed the reports.
However, according to TMZ, Justin’s friend Josh Mehl was a witness at their wedding ceremony on September 13, which was officiated by preacher Jeffrey Quinn, a member of the faculty at Nyack College, which is near the courthouse in New York City.
The couple also spoke to lawyers about drafting a prenuptial agreement – but they didn’t do so until the day they got married, meaning there was no time to get the paperwork in place and signed in time.
And Justin and Hailey have made no attempts to get a postnuptial agreement signed instead, as the 24-year-old singer is “so in love” he doesn’t feel the need for one, despite having an estimated fortune of $250 million.
The couple are still planning on a formal ceremony, but it will be a wedding in name only as they are already husband and wife.
Hailey previously denied having married Justin on Instagram.
She wrote: “I understand where the speculation is coming from, but I’m not married yet!”
However, days later her uncle Alec Baldwin claimed his niece and the ‘Love Yourself’ hitmaker had “just went off” and got married.
He said: “They just went off and got married and I don’t know what the deal is. We text Hailey every now and then. We met him one time.”
It was previously claimed the pair have tied the knot but won’t consider themselves officially married until they hold a religious ceremony.
A source said: “They went ahead and did it without listening to anyone. They’re going to have a big blowout, in front of God and everyone they love.”

Saira Khan confirmed for Dancing On Ice

OHMYGOSSIP — Saira Khan has signed up for ‘Dancing On Ice’ after being “shamed” by her son.
The ‘Loose Women’ star turned down a request to appear on the celebrity skating contest but was forced to change her mind following some harsh words from 10-year-old Zachariah.
Saira – who also has seven-year-old Amara with husband Steve Hyde – said: “They asked me to do it and I refused, ‘No, no, no, I’m too old, I’m going to fall, I’ll injure myself and I haven’t got the time# and my little boy said, ‘Have you heard yourself? What if I said I couldn’t do my homework, it’s too hard, I’m busy’ – he shamed me into doing it, so I am doing it for my kids.
“I’m not doing it for the money, I’m doing it for my kids.”
Saira made her announcement on ‘Loose Women’ on Tuesday (02.10.18), and stumbling out on the set on roller skates, she admitted she isn’t a natural.
Enlisting Stacey Solomon to help her to her seat, she said: “Come and help me, this is a nightmare, I can’t… honestly… As you can see, I’m in it to win it. What am I doing?
” I cannot skate, some people say it and they can but I cannot, I’ve never been on ice skates.”
The former ‘Apprentice’ contestant then sought reassurance from Andrea McLean, who competed on the first series of the show, but didn’t get what she was looking for.
Andrea said: “I broke only one rib and I only concussed myself once, it’s fine.”
And fourth panelist Janet Street-Porter also didn’t offer much support.
She quipped: ” You won’t have very good hair with a crash helmet.”
But Stacey offered more support when she said: “The best for me is to watch the ones with no experience work their way up.”
Saira’s announcement came after Brian McFadden, James Jordan, Gemma Collins and Richard Blackwood confirmed they will be taking part in the next series.

Doctor Who’s Jodie Whittaker influenced by Coldplay

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Whittaker says “Coldplay album covers” were behind her Doctor Who outfit.
The 36-year-old actress – who is the first ever woman to play the time-travelling alien – has revealed she needed to have “colour” and “rainbows” included in her Time Lord’s outfit for the popular BBC One show.
Speaking to the Radio Times, she said: “I found an old black-and-white image on Google that spoke to me. It’s of a woman walking with a purpose in crop trousers, boots, braces and a T-shirt, and she just looks so comfortable and non-gender specific – that was my style point.
“And I needed it to have colour because I respond to colour. I really love the use of colour on Coldplay album covers, which I also showed to [costume designer Ray Holman]. Which is where the rainbow came in – nothing evokes a sense of hope in me more than hundreds of rainbows!”
For Jodie’s Doctor, the style includes a pair of cropped trousers with much-needed “pockets”, slightly undone boots “that are comfortable to run in” and an iconic two-tone blue coat where the “exterior is day but the lining is dark blue for space” with a rainbow trim.
The former ‘Broadchurch’ actress admitted she “grew up” with ‘Doctor Who’ and when she was invited to audition, Jodie was told to be her “fidgety” self rather than “mimic a previous” Time Lord’s “performance”.
She added: “Chris Chibnall [the new showrunner] knew he was writing for a woman. We worked together on ‘Broadchurch’ and he asked me to come in to audition with my own accent, and all my fidgeting, really being me.
“I think I have an energy Chris felt would drive this part. I’m more comfortable viewing things in the child version of me than the grown-up. I wouldn’t say it’s being fearless – because children aren’t scared they don’t have the bruises – perhaps more naivety.
“I’d seen some growing up, but once I started auditioning, Chris was happy for me to come in with fresh eyes. Because of the wonders of the internet I was able to do the research thoroughly without actually watching every episode. I wanted to make sure my choices were instinctive to me, rather than mimicking a previous performance.”
‘Doctor Who’ returns to BBC One on Sunday (07.09.18) in ‘The Woman Who Fell To Earth’ at 6:45pm.

He gushed to Australia’s New Idea magazine: “I feel very complete as a man, as a person. I’m very lucky to have found Storm.

He said: “It’s been amazing to watch them. There is such a bond between all four of them.

“It’s that completeness you feel. Strength, security, knowing they’re all happy together.”
Ronan takes great pleasure in seeing how easily Storm has adjusted to motherhood.
He said: “She’s taken to it like a duck to water. She’s been so natural at the whole thing, it’s been a pleasure to watch her as a mum.
“Even though I’ve been there before, we’re learning all the time.
“I’m the worrier, but she’s like an earth mother – she’s so calm, it’s impressive.”
The 41-year-old singer was previously a judge on ‘The X Factor’ in Australia and admitted he’d love to relocate Down Under again in the future.

Post Malone’s tattoos inspired by Justin BIeber

OHMYGOSSIP — Post Malone got his tattoos to prove he was “tougher” than Justin Bieber.
The 23-year-old rapper may be inked from head to toe now, but he used to be “so scared” at the thought of going under the needle, and only seeing how much body art his pal had made him change his mind.
He explained: “I was always so scared to get one and then I got one.
“We were working on [debut album] ‘Stoney’, and then we had a tattoo artist came through, and I was like, you know what? Justin Bieber’s got some tatts, and I love you, but I know I’m way tougher than you.”
The ‘Rockstar’ hitmaker’s first design was a Playboy bunny, but it didn’t last very long as he had a run-in with Justin, 24, on the basketball court a few days later.
Speaking on the ‘Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, he said: “I guess Justin was watching this interview in the future when I said I was tougher than him ’cause we played basketball like two days later and he knocked the whole thing off.
“It was just blood dripping down my hand. It kind of looks like my tattoo got dropped in lava, but I like the story anyways.”
Justin previously admitted he loves the fact he’s made his “body a canvas” with his many tattoos.
He shared some photos of his body art on Instagram and wrote: “If tattooed didn’t hurt everyone would have them. Well maybe not very one!! Over a hundred hours of hart work on my body and I wouldn’t take back a single one.. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ART AND IVE Made my body a canvas and it’s SO MUCH FUN.(sic)”

Tom Hardy guided by son

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Hardy’s son was his “spirit guide” on ‘Venom’.
The 41-year-old actor portrays in titular anti-hero in the latest Marvel Studios movie and he was thankful 10-year-old Louis – who he has with former girlfriend Rachael Speed – was on hands to give him “honest” feedback and advice on his performance.
He told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “He was pretty much in the driving seat for the most of it, and I did use him as my anthology and mythology wizard.
“He told me what I was doing wrong and I was doing more things wrong than I was doing right because children are deeply honest. He was my little spirit guide in that aspect. So as far as I’m concerned, I passed his [test], and that’s the best I could do.”
Tom – who also has a three-year-old child with wife Charlotte Riley, who is believed to be pregnant – had a great time playing Eddie Brock and his alter ego Venom in the movie and is hoping he’ll be part of a franchise for “several years”.
He said: “We went into this hoping to build it, and I went into it hoping to do something for the next several years and I can invest myself in.
“But we have to launch it and see how people feel about it, and if they don’t like it, we’ll see, but I don’t think they will. I have a really good feeling about it. I know the whole team has poured a lot of love into it, and I’ve really enjoyed it. I’ve left a lot of stuff out there and I did a lot of improvisation in it that will never make it to the movie.”
And the ‘Dark Knight Rises’ actor joked he’s got a number of unusual ideas for future films.
He quipped: “There might be a singing and dancing number in there somewhere possibly in a sequel, because I think we should push the boundaries, maybe a little figure skating.”
