Sir Peter Jackson’s new documentary film feels ‘personal’

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Peter Jackson’s new documentary film ‘They Shall Not Grow Old’ has a “personal” feel for the director.
The acclaimed moviemaker – who is best-known for helming the ‘Lord of the Rings’ films – has revealed how his latest movie connected him with members of his family.
Speaking at the London premiere of ‘They Shall Not Grow Old’ on Tuesday (16.10.18), he explained: “My grandfather was there and my gran was killed in the First World War, so … as was very common to a lot of families.
“It was nice to be able to stop doing other films and to pause for a moment and do something that was, you know … something that was a bit more personal.”
Peter, 56, also explained how his film differs from previous movies about the conflict.
He told London Live: “There’s a level of the First World War which is under the historian aspect, which is the greater geo-political picture. There have been hundreds, thousands of books written about and there probably will be in the future.
“What I wanted to do, was not to do that. This is not a story about the First World War – this is a story about the men who were there.”
Meanwhile, Peter recently argued that war films are “cliched” and too serious.
The award-winning filmmaker said: “I think First World War movies are in danger of being a cliche. They take the most basic concept, which is soldiers going over the top, and that’s all the films are. I’m just not excited about most of them.
“Also, and this is going to sound weird, First World War films are often too serious. They show troops having a miserable time, whereas, if you are in a bad place, humour comes to the surface.”

Patrick Wilson to reprise role alongside Vera Farmiga in Annabelle 3

OHMYGOSSIP — Patrick Wilson is to reprise his role alongside Vera Farmiga in the ‘Conjuring’ franchise to star in the third ‘Annabelle’ movie.
The 45-year-old actor and Vera, 45 – who play Ed and Lorraine Warren in the film series – appeared in the earlier films in the franchise, and are set to play supporting roles in the untitled ‘Annabelle’ project, Deadline reports.
The third ‘Annabelle’ movie will open with the Warrens bringing the Annabelle doll to their Artifacts Room, assuming it will stop the doll from creating chaos.
But in actual fact, Annabelle awakens the room’s evil and then targets Judy, the Warrens’ ten-year-old daughter.
Mckenna Grace will play the role of Judy in the Gary Dauberman-directed movie.
Meanwhile, James Wan previously revealed he always had ambitions to turn ‘The Conjuring’ into something bigger.
The director – who helmed the first movie in the movie-spinning franchise – discussed his long-term ambitions for the series prior to the release of ‘The Nun’, which was a spin-off of ‘The Conjuring 2’.
He shared: “One of the things that occurred to us early on is, ‘They have a superhero universe, why can’t we do that in the horror world?’
“When we were making the first ‘Conjuring’, it became very apparent to us that there could be a bigger universe. So many other stories that would be awesome to look into.”
The upcoming ‘Annabelle’ film is scheduled for release in July 2019.

Liam Payne and Cheryl planned Polaroid duet

OHMYGOSSIP — Cheryl and Liam Payne were planning to duet on ‘Polaroid’.
The former One Direction singer released the track earlier this month but Jonas Blue – who wrote the song and features on the single with Lennon Stella – has admitted it was initially conceived as a collaboration between the former couple, who split in June.
Jonas told the Daily Star newspaper: “About a year ago I said to my manager that I would love to do a collaboration with them both and I reckon it would have been ‘Polaroid’.
“It would have been perfect as I knew when I wrote the song I could hear Liam’s voice on it.”
Jonas has also dismissed speculation Liam – who has 19-month-old son Bear with Cheryl – wrote the song about his break-up with the 35-year-old pop star.
He told the Metro newspaper: “This song actually stemmed from a Polaroid that I had of me and my girlfriend. It has been written that Liam wrote it about his break-up, but he didn’t have any involvement in the writing.
“When I wrote this song, they (Liam and Cheryl) were still together. I got it over to him and he was like, ‘I absolutely love it’.”
While Liam, 25, and Cheryl are no longer together, the ‘Fast Car’ hitmaker’s relationship with girlfriend Melinda is going well, and he credits the effort she makes to accommodate his work for keeping their union strong.
He added: “My girlfriend is super proud and happy, but it’s tough trying to make it work. And if it wasn’t for her it wouldn’t work, because she flies out to see me wherever I am.
“She kind of gets it. We have been together for 11 months now.”

Bono, Michael Stipe feature on dead cat record

OHMYGOSSIP — Bono, Michael Stipe and Pharrell Williams are among the stars to have contributed to an album about an artist’s dead cat.
Sophie Calle has compiled a 37-track record which has been named ‘Souris Calle’ in honour of the late feline and attracted a string of guests to appear on the LP, including The National, Jarvis Cocker and Laurie Anderson.
The album opens with a voicemail tribute from Bono, who speaks over a rock beat and says: “She seems to hide all looks that have ever fallen into her/ So that like an audience she can look them over/ Menacing and sullen, curls asleep with them/ Then all at once, as if awakened/ She turns her face to yours/ And with a shock you see yourself/ Tiny, inside the golden amber of her eyeballs.”
Sophie announced plans for the record in June and debuted the project at Paris’ Perrotin gallery earlier this month, with the exhibition also including photographs and autobiographical texts written by the French artist about the deaths of her cat, as well as close family and friends.
She previously admitted people have dismissed her mourning of her furry friend as “ridiculous”, even though she had a stronger bond with Souris – which translates to Mouse in English – than her immediate family.
She told Artnet: “When you say you’re sad about the cat, it’s a bit obscene for people. You can’t say that.
“I mean, if I say my mother or my father is dead, everyone tells me ‘Oh, poor thing, she lost her mother, oh, poor thing, she lost her father,’ but if we say that about our cat, we seem ridiculous.
“It makes me laugh, when for me, in my daily life, it was almost more violent, because I lived with my cat. I didn’t live with my parents.”

Manon Lagreve booted off Bake Off

OHMYGOSSIP — Manon Lagreve has been booted off ‘The Great British Bake Off’.
The 26-year-old baker was axed from the Channel 4 show last night (16.10.18) after failing to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith during Danish Week – which was inspired by host Sani Toksvig’s heritage – with her Showstopper dessert appearing to convince the pair to let her go.
She said afterwards: “I love Denmark! I have been twice to Copenhagen and my best friend is Danish, but none of that helped me in Danish Week. I was hoping I could have made my friend proud, but she has now forgiven me.
“I loved the ‘Bake Off ‘ bubble so much. There isn’t a moment of it that I didn’t enjoy. I learned so much and I loved meeting everyone involved with the show. I am my own worst critic, though. I put my heart on a plate so the judges would either cuddle it or kill it. It was hard to take the criticism but I valued it and learned from it.
“Noel and Sandi are so funny as a double act. They are amazing, and when you had a down moment they were so supportive. Just a little word or a cuddle helped you so much and made the atmosphere so much lighter, as it gets quite intense in that tent. Noel could tell when I was getting a bit stressed.”
However, fellow ‘Bake Off’ contestant Rahul Mandal’s Showstopper, Signature and Technical challenges were all criticised by Paul and Prue, leaving some fans of the show to threaten to boycott the programme when Manon was axed instead of him.
One wrote: “Gonna have to boycott bake off next week, loved Manon 🙁 (sic)”
Another posted: “BOYCOTT #GBBO UNTIL R*HUL IS GONE AND MANON IS BROUGHT BACK (sic)”
One shared: “I feel a #GBBO boycott coming in the Green household. What a complete swizz … We [love] Rahul but he was shocking tonight & should have left the competition (sic)”

The TV hosts will front the live charity appeal show on BBC One on November 16th, and comedian Rob admits it is a “huge honour” to have been asked to join the presenting team for the spectacle.
He said: “I am so excited to be presenting ‘BBC Children in Need’ this year.
“It’s a British institution and a wonderful charity, so to be asked to help out is a huge honour. My parents are gonna be bursting with pride. I also get to meet Pudsey! I can’t wait!”
As always, ‘Children in Need’ will feature an all-star line-up as they work together to try to raise money for disadvantaged kids and youngsters across the UK.
Graham Norton has co-hosted the show since 2016, and he is excited about Rob joining the team.
He said: “I love presenting the live show of ‘BBC Children in Need’ and I look forward to welcoming Rob Beckett to the team, in what will be a night full of celebrating some of most brave and inspirational children.”
This news comes just days after ‘The One Show’ confirmed its Rickshaw Challenge will return this year with presenter Matt Baker joining forces with a team of six youngsters, all supported by BBC Children in Need-funded projects, to take on a gruelling 423-mile route from Calais to Salford over eight days.
He said: “This is the eighth year that we’ll be heading out on the roads with the Rickshaw Challenge and I can’t wait to get back in the saddle alongside six truly inspirational young people.
“Every year the support that we get never ceases to amaze me, it’s fantastic to see how people from all across the UK get behind the challenge and I’m looking forward to seeing all those friendly faces willing us on again this year, and helping us to raise so much money for a charity which is incredibly close to my heart.”
The Tour de Rickshaw will begin in France on November 9 and conclude on November 16 in Salford during ‘BBC Children in Need’.

Heidi Klum’s Halloween costume will be ‘very, very cute’

OHMYGOSSIP — Heidi Klum’s Halloween costume will be “very, very cute” this year.
The 45-year-old supermodel is famous for her elaborate outfits on the spooky holiday and although she won’t spill all the details, she has promised fans that this year she won’t be dressing in anything scary.
Speaking to People, she said: “This time it’s going to be very cute, It’s not gonna be scary; it’s going to be very, very cute.”
But among those who get a sneak peak of the former ‘Project Runway’ host’s costume are her four kids – Leni, 14, Henry, 13, Johan, 12, and nine-year-old Lou – because they are often around when her outfit is being created.
She said: “My kids know; they always know, they always wonder how it’s done, and I have fittings and people come over when I have to try different pieces on.
“So a lot of the times they are a part of the process and they see it happen.”
This year will mark the 19th anniversary of Heidi’s annual Halloween bash and she admitted her costumes have grown more elaborate over the years – which can also be risky.
She said: “In the beginning stages, I didn’t know about these [prosthetics] professionals yet and I did my own hair and make-up, and I had some people who would help me put the clothes together.
“When you do prosthetics and all of this stuff, I’m always having my fingers and toes crossed that it actually does work out on the day because there was no dress rehearsal.
“Because we can’t actually glue all these things down and see if it actually really works. So it’s always a bit nerve-wracking for me, too, that it actually does work out in the end. Usually it does, but you just never know until the day comes.”
The blonde beauty – who has appeared last year as a werewolf from Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ video- previously teased fans on social media by posting a picture last month of a mask being specially made in a workshop.

Hailey Baldwin loves her ‘boyish’ style

OHMYGOSSIP — Hailey Baldwin loves her “boyish” look.
The 21-year-old model is famous for her hyper-casual and graphic-chic look, and the blonde beauty has revealed her favourite piece is a men’s Balenciaga leather jacket.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar magazine, she said: “I’m obsessed with big, clunky leather jackets. One of my favourites is a men’s Balenciaga piece.”
“I’ve always thought there was something really fun about a lanky girl in very boyish clothing. I love dresses with sneakers.”
Haley – who is the daughter of Stephen and Kennya Baldwin – has previously revealed that she “really loves clothes” and takes inspiration from the designers and creative directors she works with when modelling.
She said: “I’ve gotten to work with so many people and get a feel for other people’s tastes and see their style. I’m so inspired by clothes and fashion.
“I really love clothes, so I pay really close attention to what designers and creative directors do in terms of cuts and fits. I’m big on the way things look and fit on me.
During her career Hailey has learned how to undertake other roles in the industry, and has previously helped designers to dress other models – she shared that when she styles other girls she “tries to be fair to their body” and attempts to be “really respectful”.
She said: “When I’m styling the girls, I try to be fair to their body, and what I think is going to look good on them.
“I ask every girl what they’re comfortable with. I don’t want to put a girl in something they’re not comfortable with. I want to be really respectful.”

Courteney Cox rules out Friends reunion

OHMYGOSSIP — Courteney Cox “doesn’t see” a ‘Friends’ reunion happening.
The 54-year-old actress – who played Monica Geller in the television show from 1994 to 2004 – would love to reunite with her castmates but she doesn’t know if there’s a way to “redo it”.
She told People magazine: “People ask us all the time, ‘Will we ever do a remake?’ That was a story about these group of people that are friends in their 30s who are finding themselves. I don’t know if there’s a way to redo it. I just don’t see it happening. Even though I would do anything to be in a room with all of those people acting and having a great time. But I don’t see it happening.”
Meanwhile, Jennifer Aniston – who played Rachel – previously revealed she “fantasises” about a reunion.
She said: “Courteney and Lisa and I talk about it. I fantasise about it. It really was the greatest job I ever had. I don’t know what it would look like today, but you never know. So many shows are being successfully rebooted. I know Matt LeBlanc doesn’t want to be asked that question anymore. But maybe we could talk him into it.”
Matt has made no secret of the fact he doesn’t see a reunion taking off.
He shared: “Normally I’d never say never, but in the case of ‘Friends’, I would definitely say never … I don’t think anybody wants to see Joey at his colonoscopy! … I understand that people really want to see that reunion. But that show was about a finite period in these six characters lives, between 20 and 30.”

Conners producer defends Roseanne’s exit

OHMYGOSSIP — The producer of ‘The Conners’ has defended how they handled Roseanne Barr’s exit.
The 65-year-old actress has bemoaned how the death of her on-screen character – who passed away from an accidental opioid overdose – was “grim and morbid” but now executive producer Tom Werner has spoken out about why they decided to “shine a light” on drug issues with the show.
During a panel at The Paley Center for Media in New York City, he said: “I think it was important that we all be respectful of Roseanne Conner and Roseanne Barr, but as we talked about it … what made the show work for us is I think we were touching on themes that were very relevant to our audience. There are a lot of choices in television, but this is a show about a working-class family that is very identifiable to the audience. When we talked about what to do moving forward … if you’d seen the show in the last year, Roseanne Conner was struggling with a drug [addiction].
“This is a problem – and again, we’re doing a comedy – this is a problem that has affects tens of thousands of people, opioid addiction – 80,000 people died last year dealing with opioid addiction and overdose. We felt that this is something that could shine a light on. I think there will be people talking about this and how it affects the family. It obviously touches on healthcare issues and the fact that Marcy Bellinger was sharing drugs with other people in the community. In part, it’s because we know prescription drugs are expensive … I think this was an honest and authentic way of dealing with Roseanne Conner.”
In a statement, Roseanne and her mentor Rabbi Shmuley Boteach said it was a decision the network “didn’t have to make”.
She said: “While we wish the very best for the cast and production crew of ‘The Conners’, all of whom are deeply dedicated to their craft and were Roseanne’s cherished colleagues, we regret that ABC chose to cancel ‘Roseanne’ by killing off the Roseanne Conner character. That [the character’s death] was done through an opioid overdose lent an unnecessary grim and morbid dimension to an otherwise happy family show. This was a choice the network did not have to make.”
Roseanne’s axe was triggered by her offensive tweet about Valerie Jarrett – a senior adviser to former US President Barack Obama – earlier this year.

Tara Reid blames her dog for flight disturbance

OHMYGOSSIP — Tara Reid says her flight disturbance was because of her dog.
The ‘Sharknado’ star was removed from a flight after causing a disturbance prior to takeoff and she has now revealed it was because of her pet pooch.
She told Extra: “They wouldn’t let the dog sit next to me, so I wasn’t going to stay on the plane. Of course everyone made a big deal about it … I’m kind of used to that in my life. They always kind of pick on me.”
It was previously reported that the 42-year-old actress was sat on-board a flight to New York, but was annoyed that she wasn’t given a window seat and that the person in the seat in front of her was reclined, causing her to feel cramped. She was also heard complained loudly about the situation and was frustrated at having not been given a pillow.
A Delta spokesperson at the time told TMZ that the plane eventually took off following a short delay, with Tara reported to have boarded an alternate flight.
Meanwhile, Tara recently admitted to having made some bad life choices, conceding she wishes she’d done some things differently.
The actress shared: “I would do a lot of stuff differently. I wouldn’t have gone out so much and been so crazy. When I started out, I wasn’t aware I would lose all my privacy, so I was doing everything that your average 21-year-old does, but it was there for everyone to see. I should have made wiser choices about where to go and what to do, because that kind of all caught up on me and it changed everything.”

Kendall Jenner stalks exes on Instagram

OHMYGOSSIP — Kendall Jenner makes fake accounts to stalk her ex-boyfriends.
The ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star – who has dated the likes of Harry Styles, ASAP Rocky and Blake Griffin – has admitted to starting new accounts on photo-sharing site Instagram so she can check what her exes are up to.
Taking part in a lie detector test with Hailey Baldwin, she was asked: “Have you ever created a fake Instagram to look at what your ex is doing?”
And Kendall – who was taking part in a special Carpool Karaoke with Hayley – knew she was in hot water, joking back, “You know the answer to this,” before adding: “Yes!”
Meanwhile, Kendall previously confessed she wants to “run away” and get married.
Speaking to her friend Jen Atkin, she said: “I literally want to run to the city hall and get married and just be like ‘F*** it, let’s go right now. Just like, spur of the moment.”
Jen was puzzled by the brunette beauty’s revelation as she doesn’t have a “type”.
She said: “Who are you going to marry? You don’t have a type at all.”
To which Kendall replied: “I don’t have a type – you cute, you cute. Like, who am I going to marry? A piece of advice that my dad always told me is that in a relationship, when you meet someone young, the hardest thing to do is change with them.”
The model has never been one to be open about her love life and she recently admitted her reluctance to share details led to people thinking she was bisexual.
She said recently: “I like my private life. I think it’s because I’m not like all my other sisters, who are like, ‘Here’s me and my boyfriend!’ So it was a thing for a minute because no one ever saw me with a guy. I would always go that extra mile to be low-key with guys, sneaking around all the time. You don’t want to, like, look crazy. I don’t think I have a bisexual or gay bone in my body, but I don’t know! Who knows?! I’m all down for experience – not against it whatsoever – but I’ve never been there before.”

Rick Astley admits his Hollyoaks plot is ‘pretty weird’

OHMYGOSSIP — Rick Astley says his ‘Hollyoaks’ storyline is “pretty weird”.
The 52-year-old star is to make a cameo in the Channel 4 soap as part of a plot which has seen Kim Butterfield (Daisy Wood-Davis) seek solace in a poster of the ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ hitmaker while she was locked in a school for three months, and the music legend admits it is “kind of a crazy storyline”.
He said: “I’d hardly call it [Rick’s part] acting, it was just a fun thing. The whole thing was really bizarre, the storyline was pretty weird. It’s kind of a crazy storyline.
“They just asked me if I would do a cameo and I said, ‘Of course I would.’ ”
While Rick found it “weird” shooting a scene on the soap as himself, he enjoyed being on the set of the show, which has been around since October 1995.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, he added: “It was weird but it was also kind of fun, and also just to be on set for something that’s been around that long and just see the reality of it.”
But Rick’s cameo has not tempted him to give up music and try to forge an acting career anytime soon.
He said: “I’ve got a very small cameo in ‘Hollyoaks’. I can’t tell you anymore. It’s a secret.
“Oh, it’s a one-off, yeah. I have got a beautiful life and I’m really, really enjoying the music right now.
“It’s been an amazing couple of years and it feels so comfortable.”

Bob Cryer ‘really sad’ about Hollyoaks exit

OHMYGOSSIP — Bob Cryer is “really sad” to be leaving ‘Hollyoaks’.
The actor’s alter-ego Glenn Donovan bowed out of the Channel 4 soap in last night’s (16.10.18) E4 episode when Grace Black (Tamara Wall), Simone Loveday (Jacqueline Boatswain), Maxine Minniver (Nikki Sanderson), and Courtney Campbell (Amy Conachan) took inspiration from Agatha Christie’s ‘Murder on The Orient Express’ and poured poison into his drink, meaning they were all equally responsible.
The act trigged Glenn to have a fatal heart attack – and Bob is now looking forward to watching the “thrilling aftermath” of the plot play out from the comfort of his own sofa.
He said: “I’ve had the most fantastic year on the show. The people who make the show do it with such love and passion that I’ll be really sad to say goodbye.
“I can’t wait to sit back and watch my brilliant friends play out what is going to be a thrilling aftermath to his exit.”
While Bob is sad to depart ‘Hollyoaks’, he knew Glenn’s reign of terror – which included killing his eldest son Adam Donovan (Jimmy Essex) – would come to a grizzly end eventually.
He said: “Glenn couldn’t get away with it forever, could he? He closed the door on everyone who mattered, so ultimately there was no way out for him.”
The evil gangster’s death will come as a great delight to Grace as Bob recently hinted his alter-ego might ensure she meets her maker.
He said: “Everything is possible after you’ve killed your eldest son. Grace is very well aware that she isn’t protected either.
“It will always come back to the love story between Glenn and Grace so she will always be central to his fate.
“He will always want her close and the weakness for him is that he genuinely loves her. That’s where he will make his mistake, in his love for Grace.
“Part of the attraction from Glenn to Grace is that he knows how dangerous she is. Everyone’s definition of love is different and in this case it was a meeting of equals but in the laws of the jungle there can only be one king.”

Dave Bautista hints at wrestling showdown with Triple H

OHMYGOSSIP — Dave Bautista has hinted he could return to wrestling for a WrestleMania showdown with Triple H.
The professional wrestler turned actor has teased he could be taking time out of his Hollywood career to head back into the ring with Triple H, a match that he’s been wanting for a long time.
Appearing at Washington DC’s Capital One Arena for WWE Smackdown 1000, Dave mentioned that Triple H has never actually beat him one-on-one, with the pair ending up staring at each other.
Back in May 2017, Dave spoke about how he was wanting a match with Triple H before his retirement.
He said: “I’ve asked, yeah, I’ve asked. I’ve asked for what I want. I’ll tell you and I’ve talked to [Triple H] about it and I’ve talked to Vince [McMahon] about it. I said I would come back and run a whole program with Triple H. That’s the only thing I’m interested in doing. They’re just not interested in it, you know?”
And Dave also has acting ambitions too, as he previously revealed he wants his ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ character – Drax – to be given his own standalone movie.
He said: “I really pushed and fought for the Drax standalone film but I don’t think it’s ever going to happen. I really wish they would because I think there’s a story to be told there and I think the fans would really love to see that story, even if it’s not me portraying Drax, I just think it is an interesting story to tell. It’s a beautiful and heartbreaking emotional thing to know where that love for his family and that heartbreak over his family being lost and murdered, where it comes from I think.”
