Ed Sheeran reveals plan for seven more albums

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran wants to release seven more albums.
The 25-year-old singer – who is preparing for the release of his third studio album ‘÷’, the follow up to ‘x’ – has revealed he has already lined up a retirement plan.
He said: “I’m not planning on doing the math symbol thing for all of them, but yeah, I have thought about that and I have another five lined up that will be [coming] after the next [album]. I have two more math things and five more different things coming up. Seven more albums and then I’m done.”
However, Ed – who would like to take a break to raise a family – believes he will return to the music scene when his children are teenagers and no longer want him around.
Speaking on WestWoodOne’s ‘Zach Sang and The Gang, he explained: “I think the time in my life where I would like to pause is [after I have] kids. I would like to see my kids grow up and then when they get to about 14, 15, 16, when they don’t really want their dad around anymore cause he’s uncool, that’s when I’ll start doing it again.”
Ed also revealed he has a special guest on his new album.
He said: “I got John Mayer on a guitar solo that’s uncredited that’s quite cool. I did a really terrible guitar solo on a song and I was like, ‘I bet John Mayer could do this better.’ So I emailed him and he did it a lot better.”
Ed has just returned after a year out of the spotlight, where he shunned social media and travelled the world, but he admitted he missed touring.
He said: “I’m still a pretty simple person anyway, so I’m still living in simpler times. Fame is like, you just have to find a way to deal with it in your own way, and the reason I took the break is I didn’t know how to deal with it so I wasn’t really enjoying it.
“I’ve now kind of recharged my batteries and thought about why I was in the music industry and came back with a sort of different view and I don’t really mind, like I’m really grateful that people have a lot of love for the music I make which is nice. I’m in the music industry to perform. It took a year of not performing to see that because I started getting like, pangs of being upset and I was like ‘What am I upset about?’ I was like, ‘Oh yeah, I haven’t played a show in a year.’
“It’s that buzz, it’s a like a drug, you get addicted to it. That’s why Bob Dylan will continuously tour, cause that’s his drug.”

Mel B reveals Spice Girls recording plans

OHMYGOSSIP — Mel B has revealed the remaining Spice Girls will be recording new music at her home-built studio.
The ‘Viva Forever’ hitmaker has been writing songs with Emma Bunton and Geri Horner after Mel C and Victoria Beckham declined to be a part of their reunion plans, and she says they plan to start recording as soon as they can.
She said: “We have written new material and I have a studio at my house in LA. As soon as Emma and Geri get their schedules sorted they will be over in LA and we can start working on new music.”
Though a track by the trio, ‘Song For Her’, was leaked last year, Mel – who has five-year-old daughter Madison with her husband Stephen Belafonte, and 17-year-old Phoenix and nine-year-old Angel from past relationships – insists that and other songs they recorded won’t feature on their album as they ditched the recordings.
She told Closer magazine: “We haven’t got any new material because the songs we had were leaked. We have to get back in the studio and get it going when everybody is ready.”
While they plan on releasing new music, the 41-year-old beauty says “nothing is set in stone” in regards to plans for the reunion for 20th anniversary of their debut album, ‘Spice’.
She admitted: “Nothing’s set in stone yet. We’re just working towards getting something organised this year, so there’s nothing to talk about yet.”
Mel has also admitted that she was “annoyed” when ‘Song For Her’ leaked online, but she is glad their fans got to hear it.
She said: “It wasn’t meant to be leaked, which sort of annoyed me as we didn’t finish off the vocals.
“That was just a rough demo. But I was glad people got to hear it.”

John Legend's role model is Quincy Jones

OHMYGOSSIP — John Legend says Quincy Jones is one of his role models.
The ‘All Of Me’ singer is hugely inspired by the legendary music producer and the pair have discussed working together in the future.
Speaking about his role models, John told Billboard: “Quincy Jones is certainly of them.
“We talk about a lot of things. He’s hugely influential to me and he’s always been a role model to me. Both of us have been in a position where music has opened up a lot of doors for us and given us a lot of influence and we wanted to carry that into other areas and particularly into film because music and film are so related.
“We’ve talked about working together. He and my father actually have a hat line they’re doing together. Popz Topz is my father’s hat brand, and Quincy’s going to do a special collection with him.”
John won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for ‘Glory’, along with Common, in 2015 and said performing at the Oscars was one of the highlights of his life.
He said: “We’re used to going to the Grammys and the AMAs and those kinds of things. I was like, ‘Wow, this is fun being at a different place than I normally am.’ Obviously, the world’s watching and the opportunity to perform at the Oscars was just incredible and pretty monumental part of my career. I say, just enjoy it.”

Ed Sheeran set to top UK charts

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran’s new singles are set to reach number one and number two in the UK charts.
After taking 2016 off, Ed has returned to the limelight in 2017 with ‘Castle On The Hill’ and ‘Shape Of You’ and he is on course to take the top two places in the charts, according to The Sun.
Ed wrote ‘Shape of You’ with pop superstar Rihanna in mind but decided to keep the song for himself in the end as he didn’t think Rihanna would want to sing those lyrics.
He said: “But then I was singing some of the lyrics and was like Rihanna is not going to sing these words so kept it to myself.”
And ‘Castle on the Hill’ is a “love song” to his home county, Suffolk.
He said: “‘Castle on the Hill’ is a love song for Suffolk because I don’t think anyone has ever done that.
“I’ve shot the music video actually in Suffolk and the cast of it are people from my high school. The main guy who looks just like me is weirdly from my sixth form.”
The flame-haired star had originally planned to release his new music in September and confessed to playing some of his new tracks for strangers he met in the pub.
He added: “The funny thing is while I have music waiting to be released I usually end up playing it to random people. Normally when I’ve been out drinking I’ll be like, ‘Hey mate do you want to hear my new song?’ that happens a lot.”
Ed delighted his fans when he released two songs this week after a year-long hiatus.
Before his break, he announced in a lengthy post on Twitter that he was off to “travel the world”.
He wrote: “Hello all. I’m taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while, I’ve had such an amazing ride over the last 5 years but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes so I’m taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I’ve missed.
“To my family and friends, if you love me you will understand me buggering off for a bit, to my fans, the 3rd album is on its way and is the best thing I have made thus far. See you all next autumn, and thank you for being amazing. Ed. x (sic)”

Alison Krauss set to release first album in 17 years

OHMYGOSSIP — Alison Krauss is set to release her first album in 17 years.
The 45-year-old singer – who has amassed an impressive 27 Grammy Awards across her career – will release ‘Windy City’ in March as well as a new single called ‘Losing You’.
Speaking about the new album, Alison said: “Usually it’s just all songs first. It was the first time I’d ever not had songs picked out, and it was just about a person.”
The album features 10 songs that Alison has carefully selected alongside Nashville producer Buddy Cannon, who has worked with the likes of Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn and Merle Haggard.
The new album covers different eras and musical genres and is packed with original tracks as well as covers including ‘Gentle On My Mind’ and ‘You Don’t Know Me’.
And Alison was pleasantly surprised during the recording process when she found out Buddy had written ‘Dream Of Me’, a song she recalled from her childhood. It took some light persuasion but he agreed to sing backup on the track along with his daughter Melonie Cannon.
The album has a tinge of sadness but not in a “pitiful” way.
Alison explained: “It’s almost like you didn’t know it was sad because it doesn’t sound weak. It doesn’t have a pitiful part to it, where so many sad songs do.
“But these don’t. And I love that about it. I love that there’s strength underneath there. That whatever those stories are, they didn’t destroy. That that person made it right through it. I love that.”
‘Windy City’ is released on March 3.
Full ‘Windy City’ tracklisting:
1. Losing You
2. It’s Goodbye And So Long To You
3. Windy City

Ed Sheeran is 'very confident' that has LP will do well

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran isn’t worried if Taylor Swift releases her album at the same time as him as he is “confident” with his work.
The 25-year-old singer made his musical comeback on Friday (06.01.17) unveiling two new tracks from his forthcoming third studio LP ‘÷’ – ‘Shape of You’ and ‘Castle on the Hill’ – and when asked if the ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker would be competition, he said he doesn’t see her as a threat to his chart success because of the quality of the music he’s made.
Ed recently chatted with the 27-year-old pop beauty – who he supported on her 2013 ‘Red Tour’ – and she told him she was eagerly-anticipating his return.
Speaking on ‘The Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Scott Mills’, he said: “I’m very confident in my stuff. It’s a different lane that I’m going in at the moment.
“I spoke to Taylor yesterday (05.01.17) … I just got capital letters on an email saying, ‘OMG so excited for what you’ve got tomorrow.'”
And quizzed on whether Taylor is working on her next album, he added: “I imagine so, yeah.”
However, when pressed for a release date for his album – his first since 2014’s ‘X’ – Ed kept tight-lipped, but said he will be touring this year.
He said: I’m not going to tell you! You can ask whatever you want, but I’m just not going to answer it.”
And on when he will hit the road, he spilled: “Soon, eventually. it will be this year. I’ve rehearsed it.”
Taylor previously gushed about Ed for inspiring her with his “drive and passion”.
She shared: “Ed and I had been on tour together all year on the ‘Red Tour’ and we saw each other almost every day. I lived for the moments he would burst into my dressing room with a new song to play me. It happened so often that it became normal, and I don’t think he ever knew how much it meant to me that he wanted me to hear his songs first.
“I don’t think he ever knew how inspired I was by his drive and passion to constantly create new art … You deserve everything you have, and everything you will continue to achieve, Ed.”

Ed Sheeran 'wasn't allowed to eat' on the Queen Mary 2

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran didn’t eat while he was recording music on the Queen Mary 2 ship because he’d have to wear a suit.
The ‘Shape of You’ hitmaker got to build a makeshift studio on the cruise liner, which was located in the freezer room, and has admitted he didn’t have any food because of the fancy dress code.
Talking about working on the boat with producer Benny Blanco on ‘The Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Scott Mills’ on Friday (06.01.17), he said: “I got the Queen Mary 2 boat over and built a studio in that because Benny [Blanco] – who made the album – refuses to fly.
“So we got the boat over and one, we weren’t allowed to eat because one of the things was we weren’t allowed to eat because you have to have a suit …”
The ‘Lego House’ singer also revealed that during his trip from New York to Southampton he was hounded by the crew for selfies because they are mainly from the Philippines, which is his biggest fan base.
He continued: “… Two, my biggest market in the world is in the Philippines and every staff member on the boat was Filipino. So I had a wave of people come to my room every five minutes coming for selfies.
“We built one that you can break down easily. I think it was like in the freezer room.”
It was previously revealed that Ed hired a “cheap cabin” aboard the QM2 and locked himself away penning songs for his hotly-anticipated third studio album, ‘÷’.
A source previously said: “Ed turned up at the dock in New York and asked for a cheap cabin, nothing fussy.
“While aboard he requested a meeting room so they found him a basic, windowless crew room in the bowels of the ship. He spent the entire week locked away, writing.”

Ed Sheeran recorded song in Ghanaian dialect Twi

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran has recorded a song in the Ghanaian dialect Twi.
The ‘Bloodstream’ hitmaker got the chance to record the track while spending time in Ghana in West Africa in June, where he was partying with Afrobeats superstar Fuse ODG.
The 25-year-old singer/songwriter says it was “the most fun” he’s had making a song as they got drunk on a local drink called Shocker – a combination of spirits – and just partied while playing it all night.
Talking about his third album ‘÷’ on ‘The Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Scott Mills’ on Friday (06.01.17), he said: “The best experience was I wrote a song in Twi, which is the Ghanaian dialect, and I wrote that in Ghana at Fuse’s house with all of his mates.
“That was the most fun experience. Being in the studio with someone like Fuse it’s just a party the whole time.
They drink this thing called Shocker, and I won’t tell you what is in it, but there is a lot of stuff in it.
“They drink that while they are in the studio and just go nuts the whole time. They just play this song on repeat full volume. That was probably the most fun I’ve had making a song.”
The unnamed track is produced by Killbeatz, but it’s not known if it will feature on Ed’s new record, which includes the singles ‘Shape of You’ and ‘Castle on the Hill’.
Meanwhile, Ed revealed he has been sitting on his comeback track ‘Castle on the Hill’ for two years, and has described it as a “love song” for his hometown of Suffolk.
He explained: “It’s a love song for Suffolk because I don’t think anyone’s done that. That’s the second song I have completed on the album.
“I wrote that mid-2015, so almost two years [ago]. I shot the music video in Suffolk, and they cast all my friends from school. It’s all putting Suffolk on the map.”
And he also shared that ‘Shape of You’ was initially penned for R&B superstar, Rihanna.
He said: “This is actually a really random one, I went in to write songs with other people and we were there writing the song thinking ‘This would work for Rihanna’, then we decided half way through we would make it for me. This was the last song that was finished, and I didn’t put two and two together and didn’t put it on the album and kept it from my label.”

Take That are back for good

OHMYGOSSIP — Take That have vowed never to split up again and insist they are back for good.
Frontman Gary Barlow, 45, doesn’t ever imagine a day where the band, which is currently also comprised of Mark Owen and Howard Donald, calls it quits, but is adamant that one day former member Jason Orange, 46, – who quit in 2014 – and part-timer Robbie Williams, 42, could return at some point.
He told The Sun newspaper: “We’re at the point in our careers where we feel more excited than we’ve ever been.
“I do picture doing more solo stuff in the future.
“It’s been a few years since I’ve done that.
“I don’t think there’s ever going to be an announcement that says, ‘Take That is finished’, I really don’t.
“I just think it may be different. It may be four. It may be three, it may be five.
“I think it’s always going to be changing, that bit.”
Gary’s reassurance comes after he said Take That would be no more if they lost another band member.
The ‘Back For Good’ singer has opened up about the “constant battle” boy bands face to maintain their success, and has admitted that if Mark or Howard were to leave the group it’s unlikely they’d carry on.
He admitted: “It can’t get any less than three.”
The ‘Could It Be Magic’ hitmakers celebrate 25 years together in 2017, but won’t be performing live to celebrate for some time afterwards as they want Robbie – who will go on a solo tour next year – to join them on stage.
Gary recently said: “We are still trying to work out the reunion.
“We are looking at a tour in 2018 and we’ll drop the album at the very end of next year. But these things can change, at the moment that’s what we are hoping for. Robbie will hopefully come along but Jason is happy staying where he is for now.”

Ed Sheeran 'forgot' the lyrics to all his songs after year break

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran had “forgotten” the lyrics to his songs after his one year hiatus.
The 25-year-old singer songwriter unveiled his two new singles ‘Castle On the Hill’ and ‘Shape of You’ from his third studio album ‘Divide’ on Friday (06.01.17), and the flame-haired musician has revealed he couldn’t remember the words to his previous records including his 2014 hit ‘Don’t’.
Speaking on BBC Radio One today, which saw him co-host the popular show with Scott Mills, he said: “It’s the first radio interview I’ve done in two years.
“I was just saying I’ve forgotten how to do it. ‘Don’t’ came on and I can’t remember the words.”
And Ed has revealed he had to “re-learn everything” and was forced to spend 24 hours going over every single he has released to help him jog his memory.
He explained: “I’ve re-learnt everything. I’ve spent a day re-learning everything.”
The ‘A-Team’ hitmaker has revealed he has learnt his lesson and has vowed not to take such a long break from the music industry in the future to avoid this problem.
He quipped: “So I think the next time I take a break will be two weeks and not a year.”
The Suffolk-born artist has revealed he has been sitting on his comeback track ‘Castle On The Hill’ for two years, which he has described as a “love song” for his hometown.
The star has revealed ‘Shape of You’ was initially penned for Rihanna to sing, although he swiftly changed his mind when he had finished the track and decided to keep it for himself.
Speaking about the release, he said: “This is actually a really random one, I went in to write songs with other people and we were there writing the song thinking ‘This would work for Rihanna’, then we decided half way through we would make it for me. This was the last song that was finished, and I didn’t put two and two together and didn’t put it on the album and kept it from my label.”
However, Ed has revealed his music label made him change his mind and feature it to his latest LP.

David Bowie didn't know he was dying when he recorded Blackstar

OHMYGOSSIP — David Bowie didn’t know he was dying when he recorded ‘Blackstar’.
The late music icon passed away in January 2016 at the age of 69 after battling with liver cancer, and a new documentary on the star suggests that whilst he was recording his final album – which was released two days before he passed – he had no idea of his deteriorating health.
Speaking in the documentary ‘David Bowie: The Last Five Years’ Johan Renck – who directed the video for ‘Lazarus’ which sees the star lying in a hospital bed – said the concept had “nothing to do” with his illness.
Johan said: “David said: ‘I just want to make it a simple performance video’
“I immediately said ‘the song is called Lazarus, you should be in the bed’. To me it had to do with the biblical aspect of it… it had nothing to do with him being ill.
“I found out later that, the week we were shooting, it was when he was told it was over, they were ending treatments and that his illness had won.”
The documentary – which will air on Saturday (07.01.17) on UK TV channel BBC Two – will serve as a follow-up to Francis Whately’s BAFTA-award-winning ‘David Bowie: Five Years’, which was broadcast on BBC Two in 2013.
Speaking about the documentary, Francis said previously: “I always hoped that I would make another film about Bowie as we were only able to scratch the surface in the first film, but I just didn’t expect it to be this soon. However, looking at Bowie’s extraordinary creativity during the last five years of his life has allowed me to re-examine his life’s work and move beyond the simplistic view that his career was simply predicated on change – Bowie the chameleon… ‘ch ch ch changes’ etc. Instead, I would like to show how the changes were often superficial, but the core themes in his work were entirely consistent – Alienation, Mortality and Fame.”

George Michael honoured in London tribute night

OHMYGOSSIP — George Michael will be honoured in a special tribute night at a bar he frequented in London.
The late star passed away on Christmas Day (25.12.16) from heart failure aged 53, and now The Glory – a gay ‘super-pub’ in London – is gearing up to honour the ‘Faith’ hitmaker in a tribute night, as they claim many of the venues regular customers and staff were “friends” with the singer.

Posting on their website about the event, The Glory said: “George Michael means a lot to many at The Glory. Jennifer Hudson to work with will.i.am on next album

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Hudson plans on hitting the studio with will.i.am to work on her next album. The ‘Dream Girls’ star has learnt a lot from watching all three of her ‘The Voice UK’ co-judges on the ITV programme and says she and the Black Eyed Peas star are going to record together once filming for the spinning-chair show is complete.

Speaking to The Huffington Post, she shared: “I do plan on working with will for my next album.” The pair discussed their plans to collaborate while filming the new series, which kicks off on ITV on Saturday (07.01.17), and she would also like to write with fellow judges Sir Tom Jones and Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale.

She added: “Yes, and I want to sing with Tom [Jones] and I’ve watched Gavin’s [Rossdale] process. His process is so amazing, watching him groom and work with the talent. It’s like he’s forming them into artists before your eyes. I’m learning from that, so I’m taking from all of them and learning from them, and yes I do want to work with them.”

The ‘I Gotta Feeling’ hitmaker is excited to work with the 35-year-old songstress – who is also an actress – as he feels “honoured” to work with someone so “fierce”. He told the publication: “That’s what’s going to happen. We are going to do that because I would be honoured to work with J. Hud. Because she is spectacular, she’s fierce.”

Last year Jennifer signed to L.A. Reid’s Epic Records. The ‘Spotlight’ singer is planning to release a new album under the watchful eye of the label’s head honcho – who recently signed Jennifer Lopez to his roster, which already includes the likes of Meghan Trainor, Fifth Harmony and Mariah Carey – and said she was thrilled to be joining the renowned label.

Taking to Instagram, she previously wrote: “I have no doubt in my mind, this is going to be EPIC! #epicrecords (sic)”

The brunette beauty’s deal sees Reid team up with legendary record producer Clive Davis, who has won five Grammys and is a member of the Rock Hall of Fame, for the first time ever and Jennifer can’t wait to see what magic the “prolific musical legends” will perform on her fourth studio LP. She said: “I couldn’t be more excited to embark on this new chapter with two of the most prolific musical legends of this generation. There is no doubt that this is just the beginning of a very special collaboration and I know that the result will be something unforgettable. I am looking forward to the creative process and sharing new music very soon.”

Jennifer’s last release was 2014’s ‘JHUD’, which was released on RCA Records.
