Ed Sheeran regrets giving Tori Kelly his song

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran says the only song he wishes he kept for himself is one he wrote for Tori Kelly’s album.
The ‘Thinking Out Loud’ hitmaker penned ‘I Was Made For Loving You’ on the 24-year-old beauty’s LP ‘Unbreakable Smile’ and has admitted he wishes he didn’t let it go as it is so “beautiful”.
Asked on New York’s Fresh 102.7, if he has regretted giving away any of his songs, he said: “The one on Tori Kelly’s album, ‘I Was Made For Loving You’. I remember writing that with Tori and saying before, ‘Whatever we write, definitely for your album, don’t worry about it,’ and remember halfway through being like, ‘Aghhh, God I wish I was keeping this’.
“It is a really beautiful song and it turned out so, so well.
“But that’s one song that I wish I’d kept.”
It comes after the ‘Castle on the Hill’ hitmaker admitted Just Bieber’s ‘Love Yourself’ “wouldn’t have made it” onto his new album.
The 25-year-old singer gave the pop sensation the track, which features on his 2015 LP ‘Purpose’, because it wasn’t good enough to be featured on his own upcoming record ‘÷’.
He recently said : “That was a song I had written for ‘÷’. It just wouldn’t have made it. And then Justin took it and did his thing on it, and released it as a single and made it what it is.
“So going from a song that would have never been released to [being] the biggest song of last year – it just became Billboard’s #1 of 2016 of the whole year, and [was] nominated for Song of the Year at the Grammys – it just shows you that you shouldn’t always write stuff off.”
Ed’s third studio album is slated for release on March 3.

BRIT Awards to feature tribute to David Bowie and George Michael

OHMYGOSSIP — The 2017 BRIT Awards is to feature “tearjerker” tributes to David Bowie, George Michael and George Martin.
The prestigious British music bash is to give the late ‘Starman’ hitmaker – who died in January 2016 from cancer – his second major salute after ‘Royals’ hitmaker Lorde paid homage to the rock legend at the ceremony last year.
Bowie is expected to be a big winner on the night as he is reportedly in the running for British Male and Album of The Year.
‘Carless Whisper’ hitmaker George – who was found dead at his home in Oxfordshire, England, at the age of 53 last month – is also to be remembered with the legendary Beatles producer as the bosses want to keep the tributes for British musicians.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “After so many huge losses last year the organisers thought it was only fitting that they paid tribute properly.
“The focus is purely on home-grown stars, specifically David Bowie, George Michael and George Martin, who have all won BRITs int he past.
“It has not been decided yet what form the tribute will take but it’s going to be a tearjerker.
“There won’t be a dry eye in the room.”
At last year’s ceremony Bowie’s close friend Gary Oldman accepted the BRITs Icon Award on behalf of the family of the ‘Heroes’ star – who was 69-year-old when he died – and revealed that Bowie kept up a positive outlook right until the end of his life, and Annie Lennox also spoke kindly of the late great star.
Following Annie’s and Gary’s tributes, Lorde took to the stage to perform an emotional rendition of ‘Life on Mars’.
The BRIT Awards 2017, in association with MasterCard, will be held at London’s The O2 on February 22.

The Weeknd: A 'good song' gets me 'horny'

OHMYGOSSIP — The Weeknd says listening to a “good song” will get him “horny”.
The 26-year-old musician – real name Abel Tesfaye – has admitted that whilst he doesn’t necessarily “focus on” what his turn ons are, he says hearing a good piece of music is a sure-fire way to get him into the mood.
He said: “Right now, I’m much more, like, self-regulating than I was four years ago, when I first started getting everything and enjoying life.
“I don’t focus on it as much as I used to. You know what I mean? Before, it’s like, ‘Holy f**k this is amazing.’
“Right now, it’s like a good song turns me on way more. Like, that gets me horny, like, literally gets me horny.”
And the ‘Starboy’ hitmaker – who recently broke off his relationship with model Bella Hadid and is now rumoured to be dating fellow musician Selena Gomez – also admits he launched his music career because he wanted to be “someone else”.
He said: “I don’t think I did it to make it. I don’t think I was like, ‘I’m leaving. I’m going to go become a star.’ It was more like, ‘I need to get the f**k out of here and live another life.’ You know? Be somebody else. Not a star, just someone else.”
The ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ musician doesn’t think he’s particularly sexy and believes girls are only attracted to him because of his music.
He told the new issue of GQ magazine: “I don’t think that’s real. Listen, I’m not walkin’ around like f***in’ Idris Elba, know what I mean? …I’m not gonna walk into the club and be like, ‘Oh s**t I’m the sexiest guy in here.’ The reason why they want to f**k with me is because of what I do [in the studio]. So I’d rather just focus on doing that.”

Bruce Springsteen doesn't stress about success

OHMYGOSSIP — Bruce Springsteen doesn’t worry about fluctuations in his success.
The 67-year-old music icon has seen his status ebb and flow through the course of his legendary career, but has insisted it is not something that has ever concerned him.
Asked if it’s something he’s found tough to cope with, Bruce explained: “Not really. Everyone has their moments when they think, ‘Gee, why isn’t everyone listening to this record I made?’ But I take the ebb and flow of my work life, after 50 years of doing it, as a natural part of the dynamic of your career.
“But whenever you put something out there – particularly if you believe in it completely – you want to to be understood, you want it to be well received. You want to grab people’s ears – that’s my business. If not, you’re going to be disappointed.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Born in the U.S.A.’ hitmaker said he has been forced to adjust his onstage antics as he’s aged, admitting he is not physically capable of delivering the energetic performances that once defined his shows.
Bruce told the Guardian newspaper: “I’m probably not going to do three running somersaults at this point. But the basic thing, the only thing that I notice as I’ve gotten older is that you have certain structural weaknesses in your body that arise, and you’ve got to manage your physical self so it can do the essential and important things. So you can deliver your message and create the evening you want to create.
“So you curtail a few of the other things that at this point aren’t as necessary – you have the possibility of busting your back or your neck.”

Chance the rapper: I don't have Kanye West's personality

OHMYGOSSIP — Chance the Rapper doesn’t want people to think he has the same “personality” as Kanye West.
The ‘No Problem’ hitmaker is close with his peer and wishes he had the same “assurance” he has in his own music, but he doesn’t always agree with the outspoken star’s comments he makes and he is not afraid to tell the ‘Famous’ rapper, 39, when he disagrees with his views.
In an interview GQ America, he said: “I don’t think I ever wanted to be like Kanye in personality, though.
“I think I definitely want to, have always wanted to, have his boldness or assurance in myself.
“But I’ve definitely seen Kanye do things where I was like, ‘I’d never do that.
“I’ve always been able to defend Kanye.
“When everybody’s like, ‘Kanye’s a nut’, I’m one of those guys saying, ‘No, he’s saying some real s***.”
The 23-year-old hip-hop star admits that he wants to be a people’s person, but that his music may come across differently.
He added: “But Kanye’s said some crazy s*** to me where I respond, ‘No, I don’t feel you at all.’
“I always wanted to be more of a person that people enjoy.
“Somebody that will make you laugh.
“I’m talking about just my personality, not necessarily how my music sounds.
“Because I believe I’m a disrupter like Kanye in a lot of ways.”
People are already comparing Chance to Kanye, as ‘Ordinary People’ hitmaker, John Legend – who worked with Chance on the song ‘Penthouse Floor’ – recently said he thinks he is the next Yeezy.
He said: “Kanye and I are both big fans of Chance’s and I feel he is the next big guy.”

Nick Jonas: many babies will be made to Bom Bidi Bom

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Jonas says “many babies will be made” to his ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ collaboration with Nicki Minaj.
The ‘Levels’ hitmaker has teamed up with the ‘Anaconda’ rapper, 34, for the track called ‘Bom Bidi Bom’, which features on a star-studded tracklist for the soundtrack to the next instalment in the erotic thriller franchise, and he reckons fans will be dying to get frisky after listening to it.
Taking to Twitter to share the tracklisting Nick, 24, wrote: “I know many babies will be made to this soundtrack.. #FiftyShadesDarker @NickiMinaj @FiftyShades (sic)”
Also included on the song list is Halsey’s new single ‘Not Afraid Anymore’, which will drop on Friday (13.01.17).
And the likes of Sia, John Legend and Tove Lo’s original tracks have made the LP.
It follows the huge collaboration between Taylor Swift and Zayn Malik, ‘I Don’t Wanna Live Forever’, which saw them recently smash a hotel room in London for the music video.
The pair caused utter chaos in London’s five-star hotel St Pancras Renaissance where the shot the accompanying visuals for their song.
A source said: “Taylor had to light the curtains on fire for her part. The smoke alarms were turned off on the nearby floors so that the building didn’t have to be evacuated.
“At one point Taylor smashed a mirror in the bathroom.
“All the scenes were carefully planned. It’s going to be a very sexy video. Zayn was dressed dapper and Taylor was wearing garters and heels.”
However, the 27-year-old blonde beauty was not the only one to cause mayhem in the £2,500 a night accommodation as the 23-year-old ‘Pillowtalk’ hitmaker – who is currently dating Gigi Hadid – also “trashed” the room.
The source continued: “Zayn trashed the hotel room to bits, ripping apart pillows and smashing a lamp up against the wall.”
Taylor’s visit to London was short lived, because as soon as she had finished shooting the music video she swiftly hopped on a private jet and flew home.

Ariana Grande and John Legend record Beauty and the Beast theme song

OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana Grande and John Legend are recording a new theme song for the upcoming ‘Beauty and the Beast’ live-action film.
The 23-year-old singer and John, 38, have joined forces to create a revamped version of the classic Disney tune, which was originally written by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken and performed by actress Angela Lansbury in her role as the voice of the character Mrs. Potts.
Later, the song was recorded by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson for the film’s soundtrack and won an Academy Award, Golden Globe and Grammy Award.
However, Ariana and John are busily trying to put their own stamp on the song, which will feature on the new ‘Beauty and the Beast’ soundtrack, according to Oh My Disney.
The much-anticipated new movie sees Emma Watson star in the role of Belle and the actress previously admitted to being nervous about singing in ‘Beauty and the Beast’.
Emma explained that whilst she was “excited” to be given the iconic part, she was nervous about lending her voice to the role because she’s been out of practice for so long.
She said: “It’s so crazy. I was so excited. It was nerve-wracking for me because I’ve sung as a child in plays and I loved it, but I just hadn’t done it in such a long time, it was like learning to ride a bike again.”
A clip of Emma singing emerged earlier this week and has prompted criticism from soprano Catherine Bott.
She recently said: “Within two notes it was fairly obvious to me that auto-tune had been deployed.
“I think Emma Watson’s voice sounds fragile – she’s not a singer – but actually I think it has an innocence to it. And Belle is supposed to be an innocent girl embarking on a great, exciting story.
“I’m really sorry that the studio hasn’t had the courage of their convictions, and has tinkered with Emma Watson’s fragile but pleasant voice. She no longer sounds like Emma Watson.”

Simon Neil 'owes a bit of gratitude' to David Bowie

OHMYGOSSIP — Biffy Clyro’s Simon Neil says he “owes a bit of gratitude” to David Bowie.
The ‘Space Oddity’ hitmaker passed away in January 2016 at the age of 69 after suffering from liver cancer, and the Biffy Clyro frontman has now opened up about the legacy of the late star, saying he’s “a part of the tapestry” of music.
Speaking on UK radio station Radio X, the 37-year-old musician said: “I think just anyone who’s ever played music or ever listened to music owes a bit of gratitude to David Bowie.
“For us Bowie’s always been there. I think he’s such a part of the tapestry of the culture coming out of the UK and the music.”
The ‘Wolves of Winter’ hitmaker – who is joined in his band by twins Ben and James Johnston – was then asked which tracks from the music icon had inspired him the most, to which he chose ‘Low’ and ‘Sound and Vision’.
Speaking about his choice, he said: “Even though there’s not a lot of vocals on that one, it’s one of my favourite songs, I love how he put a three or four-minute intro to songs.
“For me there’s so many amazing songs, so many beautiful songs, so many songs that bring out different feelings.”
And the ‘Many of Horror’ singer went on to say “thank you” to the late musician for inspiring him, as he revealed Biffy Clyro would often play ‘Let’s Dance’ to prepare them for their own live shows.
He said: “We used to go onto ‘Let’s Dance’, which I know isn’t Bowie’s greatest song, but it got us right pumped up, so thank you David Bowie for all you’ve done.”

Ed Sheeran unveils tracklisting for new album

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran has unveiled the tracklisting for his new album ‘÷’.
The 25-year-old singer – who has just made his musical comeback following a year-long hiatus – took to Twitter on Wednesday (11.01.17) to share a chalkboard with individual pieces of paper with 12 songs titles; ‘Eraser’, ‘Castle on the Hill’, ‘Dive’, ‘Shape of You’, ‘Perfect’, ‘Galway Girl’, ‘Happier’, ‘Hearts don’t break around here’, ‘New Man’, ‘What do I Know?’, ‘How Would You Feel (Paean)’ and ‘Supermarket Flowers’ (sic)”
The ‘Thinking Out Loud’ hitmaker has already released ‘Shape Of You’ and ‘Castle on the Hill’, which reached number one and number two respectively in the UK chart.
The flame-haired hunk made history with both his comeback singles reaching over 13 million streams in 24 hours, beating One Direction with his new tracks, which had been streamed globally 6,868, 642 and 6,168, 395 times respectively, smashing Spotify’s ‘Day 1’ UK and global streaming record.
Ed knocked the ‘History’ boy band, who achieved 4,759,698 streams with ‘Drag Me Down’ in August 2015, off the top spot.
And he recently admitted he plans on releasing seven more records before retiring.
He said: “I’m not planning on doing the math symbol thing for all of them, but yeah, I have thought about that and I have another five lined up that will be [coming] after the next [album]. I have two more math things and five more different things coming up. Seven more albums and then I’m done.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Lego House’ singer has said he wants to become as big as Adele.
Ed enjoyed a much-needed break from touring and social media in 2016 but now he’s back he’s hungrier than ever for success and hopes he can eclipse his British pop peer Adele when it comes to concerts, record sales and streams.
He said: “Monday motivation is trying to be the biggest music artist in the world and even if I never achieve that and get halfway there, that’s enough. Adele’s set the benchmark so high, you just have to aim for Adele. And if you get half way to Adele you’re laughing.”
A release date for the LP is yet to be announced.

Solange Knowles inspired by Missy Elliott to produce LP

OHMYGOSSIP — Solange Knowles was inspired by Missy Elliott to produce her album ‘A Seat at the Table’.
The 30-year-old singer looks up to the ‘Work It’ rapper and has fond memories of her R&B superstar sister Beyonce, 35, collaborating with her on tracks, including 2003’s ‘Signs’ and 1999’s ‘Crazy Feelings’, which led her to feel “enamoured” by their creativity and want to do more than just sing.
She explained: “One of my biggest inspirations in terms of female producers is Missy. I remember seeing her when you guys worked together and being enamoured with the idea that I could use myself as more than a voice and the words.”
The ‘Cranes in the Sky’ hitmaker admits before now she felt “afraid” to turn her hand at producing and that it only felt right this time because she was “comfortable” with her songs.
Speaking to her sister for Interview magazine, she shared: “On my previous records, I contributed to production here and there, but I was always really afraid to really get in there and … I guess I wasn’t really afraid, I was just really comfortable writing the songs. I felt like my contributions as a producer were enough.”
Solange came to realise that she was the only one who could produce the tracks because she found it hard to explain to others what was needed, which was a really “really scary” feeling.
However, she is proud of herself for conquering production and fighting her fears.
She continued: “But when I started to work on the sonics for this record, I realised that I had to create such a very specific sonic landscape in telling the story. I had these jam sessions, and there were holes that no one else could really fill for me. It really came out of a need for something outside of what I could articulate and lead someone else to do. And it was scary. It was really scary, and a lot of times I was frustrated with myself and feeling insecure because it was new to operate in that space and be in front of people at this age, learning something on this level. But I feel so grateful and excited that there’s a new phase that I conquered as an artist. ”

The Killers jokingly demand 'chicken for life' from Panda Express

OHMYGOSSIP — The Killers have jokingly demanded “chicken for life” after takeaway company Panda Express used their lyrics in a fortune cookie.
The ‘Somebody Told Me’ hitmakers – comprised of Brandon Flowers, Dave Keuning, Mark Stoermer and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. – took to Twitter to share the piece of paper stuffed inside the sweet Chinese treat with the fortune reading the song title of their 2004 hit ‘Smile Like You Mean It’, and said they’d let the American restaurant chain off using it if they provide them with their favourite dish forever.
Alongside a picture of the fortune cookie, they wrote: “I’m thinkin’ orange chicken for life and we’ll let you off the hook for using our stuff (sic)”
Panda Express have since replied to the rock band on the micro-blogging site, writing: “.@thekillers When it comes to #OrangeChickenLove, we always mean it. (sic)”
The Killers have been keeping quiet over the festive period apart from dropping Christmas album ‘Don’t Waste Your Wishes’.
The ‘Brightside’ group recently marked the 10th anniversary of their LP ‘Sam’s Town’ with a vinyl reissue and a two-day Las Vegas “extravaganza” and they are currently working on a follow-up to 2012’s ‘Battle Born’.
Talking about the progress, drummer Ronnie said: “We’ll see what happens. We’ve been working with different people and seeing how it feels, and we’re starting to work with another person now.
“I don’t know if we wanna reveal who that is.”
However, that person could be Sir Elton John, who previously revealed his plans to head out to Las Vegas to lend his expert songwriting skills to the band.
Elton, 68, said: “I’m hoping to go to Las Vegas and write with Brandon Flowers for the new Killers record. So that’ll be interesting.”

Corey Taylor has written a song for Robbie Williams

OHMYGOSSIP — Corey Taylor has written a song for Robbie Williams.
The 43-year-old Slipknot frontman thinks the ‘I Love My Life’ hitmaker is “f***ing amazing”, and has revealed he has penned a track for his unlikely idol, although the heavy metal rocker admits he has probably “lost cool points” for admitting to liking the 42-year-old British singer.
He told Metal Hammer magazine: “I actually wrote a song for Robbie Williams. I love Robbie. He’s f***ing amazing.
“He cracks me up. He’s a great entertainer, he’s an amazing singer. And I just love the energy that he’s got.
“I know that I’ll probably lose cool points with a few people for that, but I just f***ing love him. I think he’s great.”
Fans of the ‘Wait and Bleed’ hitmakers will no doubt be shocked by Corey’s confession as he previously slammed modern pop music calling it “insulting to musicians”.
The ‘Killpop’ singer said he felt annoyed that artists with “more talent” who get “less attention” are not getting the credit they deserve for their work, while pop musicians “let a computer do all the work for them” and has compared it to “listening to a f***ing piece of wood”.
He said: “It’s so auto-tuned, it’s so beat-corrected, it’s so canned and processed and lifeless… I mean, you might as well be listening to a f***ing piece of wood at that point.
“To watch these people basically let a computer go through the motions and do all the work for them, it’s insulting to everyone out there who has more talent and less attention.”
Corey said he feels so passionate about his music that he says he literally “bleeds and dies for it every night” and puts everything he has into being the best he can.
He added: “It bothers me, because I put so much into everything I do, I put so much into my music – I bleed for it and die for it every god damn night, you know?”

Mariah Carey suing promoters over cancelled shows

OHMYGOSSIP — Mariah Carey is suing the promoters of her cancelled South American shows.
The ‘Without You’ hitmaker was due to perform in Chile and Argentina last year, but has accused bosses at FEG Entretenimientos for failing to pay her in full and for breaching their contract, according to documents filed by her lawyers in Los Angeles on Tuesday (10.01.17).
The 46-year-old singer claims she was forced to axe the shows due to late payments and that she deserves to be paid the total fee.
However, FEG have reportedly accused Mariah of harming their reputation by not performing.
According to the Toronto Sun, her legal representative wrote: “In the music industry everyone knows the familiar story of the deceitful promoter that promises to pay and fails to deliver.
“This lawsuit filed in part not only to confirm the multiple breaches of the contracts by FEG … but to warn the artistic community not to trust any promises from FEG.”
The legal documents state that FEG had agreed to pay a fee to the pop superstar and it was expected that they would pay in installments.
They also claim that Mariah’s management pulled the shows because no payments had been made near to the time of the shows in October.
And it also stated that the ‘We Belong Together’ singer lost other business opportunities because she had committed herself to the performances.
Mariah hasn’t had much luck of late, with her ‘Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest’ getting plagued with technical difficulties and on Monday (09.01.17) her Hollywood Walk of Fame star was vandalised.
The buxom blonde had her star graffitied on with an ink marker when someone wrote a question mark at the end of her name.
The Los Angeles Police Department are now said to be searching for the culprit who drew on the star, which has now been fixed for a reported $1,500.
It is thought it may have been done in response to Mariah’s disastrous New Year’s Eve performance at Times Square.

Madonna: I can't imagine not wanting to make music

OHMYGOSSIP — Madonna “can’t imagine” a time when she doesn’t want to make music.
The 58-year-old pop icon has retained her relentless passion for making hit songs – but has revealed that her ex-husband, moviemaker Guy Ritchie, failed to understand why she was so obsessed with her art.
She shared: “It’s inexplicable; it’s like breathing, and I can’t imagine not doing it.
“That is one of the arguments I would get into with my ex-husband, who used to say to me, ‘But why do you have to do this again? Why do you have to make another record? Why do you have to go on tour? Why do you have to make a movie?’
“And I’m like, ‘Why do I have to explain myself?’ I feel like that’s a very sexist thing to say … I’ll stop doing everything that I do when I don’t want to do it anymore.
“I’ll stop when I run out of ideas. I’ll stop when you f***ing kill me. How about that?”
Meanwhile, Madonna also hit out at some of her music rivals, accusing them of refusing to speak out about social injustices because they fear it will harm their earning potential.
The ‘Like A Virgin’ hitmaker told Harper’s Bazaar magazine: “What I find really astonishing is how quiet everybody is in my industry.
“I mean, nobody in the entertainment business except for maybe a handful of people ever speak out about what’s going on. Nobody takes a political stance or expresses an opinion.
“They want to maintain a neutral position so they can maintain their popularity.
“I mean, if you have an opinion and people disagree with you, you might not get a job. You might be blacklisted. You might have fewer followers on Instagram. There are any number of things that would be detrimental to your career.
“Everyone’s really afraid. Because it doesn’t affect their daily life yet, no one’s doing anything about it.”
