Zayn Malik confirms new album

OHMYGOSSIP — Zayn Malik will release his new album on 17 May.
The former One Direction singer has been teasing fans about the long-awaited follow-up to 2021’s ‘Nobody Is Listening’, and on Wednesday (13.03.24), the ‘Pillowtalk’ hitmaker has confirmed his new record, ‘Room Under the Stairs’, is coming soon.
Zayn took to Instagram to share the album’s artwork and wrote: “ROOM UNDER THE STAIRS
17.05.2024 PRE-ORDER FRIDAY (sic)”
The news comes a week after the 31-year-old star wiped his social media pages clean, leaving only a teaser of what to expect from his upcoming solo album.
In a teaser clip, he shared: “I think the intention behind this album fully is for the listener to get more insight on me [personally] as a human being.
“My ambitions, my fears…and for them to have a connection with that.
And that’s why it’s so raw, you know, it’s just me writing this.
“I didn’t want anyone else to be in between me and the music, and the music and the people listening to it.”
A little preview of a soulful new song was played at the end, with Zayn singing: “If I told you I loved you, would you say that it’s f***** up.”
Zayn is working with country music producer Dave Cobb on his upcoming album.
It was suggested that Zayn could jump on the country bandwagon like Beyonce after the studio wizard behind his follow-up to 2021’s ‘Nobody Is Listening’ spilled on working with the star.
The producer told Rolling Stone: “What got me about Zayn was his voice, you can hear love, loss, pain, triumph and humanity in it. I feel as if this record is removing the glass from his spirit directly to his fans.
“Zayn has really created his own universe on this record, he really has no fear and is speaking straight from his soul.”
Dave is based in Nashville, Tennessee, and is best known for producing the work of Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile, John Prine, Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell, to name a few.

Dua Lipa confirms new album details

OHMYGOSSIP — Dua Lipa’s third album, ‘Radical Optimism’, will be released on 3 May.
The ‘Levitating’ hitmaker has finally confirmed the title and release date of her upcoming LP and she has explained the 11-track record is inspired by British musical history.
She said in a statement: “A couple of years ago, a friend introduced me to the term ‘Radical Optimism’.
“It’s a concept that resonated with me, and I became more curious as I started to play with it and weave it into my life.
“It struck me – the idea of going through chaos gracefully and feeling like you can weather any storm.
“At the same time, I found myself looking through the music history of psychedelia, trip-hop, and Britpop. It has always felt so confidently optimistic to me, and that honesty and attitude is a feeling I took into my recording sessions.”
The album cover sees Dua in the ocean as a shark swims nearby.
Tracks on the record – which is the follow-up to 2020’s ‘Future Nostalgia’ – include ‘French Exit’, ‘Maria’, and ‘Falling Forever’, as well as the previously-released singles ‘Houdini’ and ‘Training Season’.
Dua previously explained her new record “captures a period of major changes in her life, including the end of a relationship and her forays into dating.”
She added to Rolling Stone magazine: “This record feels a bit more raw.
“I want to capture the essence of youth and freedom and having fun and just letting things happen, whether it’s good or bad. You can’t change it. You just have to roll with the punches of whatever’s happening in your life.”

‘Radical Optimism’ track list:
‘End Of An Era’
‘Houdini’
‘Training Season’
‘These Walls’
‘Whatcha Doing’
‘French Exit’

Griff loves being driven round in a tour bus: ‘I got the best night’s sleep ever!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Griff gets the “best night’s sleep” on her tour bus.
The 23-year-old singer is currently headlining her first solo and has now revealed that one of the perks of being on the road for three months is was her “rocky” mode of transport, which she compared to being “in the womb” again.
Speaking on Apple Music, she said: “You are really sleeping in a bunker/coffin. But it’s actually the best night’s sleep I ever had because you are being rocked.
“When the bus drives and you get into your bunker, you feel like you’re in the womb again. It’s quite nice.”
The ‘One Night’ hitmaker also performed a set for Apple Music London Sessions, including renditions of new single ‘Miss Me Too’ and a cover of the Troye Sivan track ‘One Of Your Girls’.
She joked: “I want to be his best friend, and I don’t know if he wants to be mine, but I would really love that.”
Griff is yet to release her debut album and prior to embarking on her first headlining tour, the BRIT Award winner – whose real name is Sarah Faith Griffiths – admitted that it was such a “weird industry” sometimes because of how she had seemingly done things out of order and that she often suffered from “impostor syndrome” despite her success.
She told NME: “You usually start off doing very intimate gigs and then work your way up around the scene. And then, suddenly, I was in these big stadiums and arenas.
“It’s such a weird industry on so many levels, that imposter syndrome follows you everywhere. No one gives you a manual as to how to be an artist.”

Girls Aloud felt they had ‘nothing to lose’ in 2004

OHMYGOSSIP — Girls Aloud felt like they had “nothing to lose” when they released ‘What Will the Neighbours Say?’.
The chart-topping girl group released the hit album in 2004, and Nadine Coyle admits that it was a turning point for the band.
The 38-year-old pop star told The Independent: “It was a time of such innocence. It could have gone great, and it could have gone horribly wrong.
“We had nothing to lose and everything to gain. We were just kids singing songs.”
The group – which also consisted of Cheryl, Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh and the late Sarah Harding – were formed on the TV talent show ‘Popstars: The Rivals’ in 2002.
And Nicola, 38, still has fond memories of their early days in the music business.
She shared: “I look back on it really fondly.
“I can see and feel the vulnerabilities and how naive and fresh out the gate we were, not really knowing what we were doing.”
Meanwhile, earlier this month, Girls Aloud shared three previously unreleased songs.
The group reissued ‘What Will The Neighbours Say?’, and included the unheard tracks ‘Disco Bunny’, ‘Baby When You Go’ and their cover of Chris Isaak’s 1991 classic ‘Wicked Game’.
The songs feature vocals from Sarah – who died of cancer in 2021, aged 39 – and Cheryl previously revealed that she wants to celebrate what the band achieved together.
The 40-year-old pop star – who has also enjoyed success as a solo artist – recently told the BBC: “Making new music without Sarah would be odd. But celebrating what we made together? Fabulous.”

‘Cheesy as hell!’ Robbie Williams didn’t want to record one of his biggest hits

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams wasn’t convinced by ‘Rock DJ’ because he thought the single was “cheesy as hell”.
The track went to the top of the UK Singles Charts in 2000, but his longtime songwriting collaborator Guy Chambers has admitted he had his work cut out convincing Robbie to have faith in the song.
Speaking to NME, he recalled: “We were trying to [write] a song that could be played at a wedding.
“Well, we wanted the lyrics to be funny, provocative, but he thought it was cheesy as hell. He didn’t like it.
“So I had to keep saying to him, ‘I know you don’t like it, but I think it could work.’ He was very self-critical; incredibly self-critical.”
Robbie had other doubts two years later with ‘Feel’, as he thought the music was too “sad” for him to put lyrics to given his mental state at the time.
Guy said: “He was going through a real crisis when he wrote [‘Feel’]. He found the music sad and, because he’s a manic depressive, he didn’t want to write on it.
“Eventually, he did. Thank God he did and let out how he really felt at that time, which was lonely and he needed [to fill] this massive hole in his life [with] love.”
It was another story with ‘Angels’, which was a battle of its own because Guy was suffering with “a terrible sinus infection”.
He almost cancelled the writing session until his mother convinced him to go into the studio, and an all time classic hit was born.
Asked why the song resonates with people, Guy pondered: “It’s one of the few Robbie songs that isn’t very specific to his life. It’s a universal song.
“A lot of his lyrics aren’t very personal and have a lot of his humour in it and that kind of thing. Quirky would be the word I’d use. ‘Angels’ isn’t like that.
“‘Angels’ is a spiritual song. It’s kind of a hymn. Therefore, I think because of that, it was this massive deal. We should have written more like that really, but we didn’t.”

Dua Lipa and SZA make Glastonbury history

OHMYGOSSIP — Dua Lipa and SZA are set to make history at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.
The two pop stars have been announced as headliners for the festival – with Coldplay completing the lineup at the top of the bill – and Dua, 28, has described the gig as the “pinnacle of festival slots”.
It marks the first time in Glastonbury history that female acts have taken two of the three headline slots.
Dua is “over the moon” to have been given the opportunity, as she jokingly added to the BBC: “The only advice everyone gives me is to bring my wellies.”
Her headline set on the Pyramid Stage is likely to centre on ‘Radical Optimism’, her upcoming album, which she recently described as being a “confidently optimistic” record.
She last played Glasto in 2017, when she had a Friday afternoon slot on the John Peel stage, while Coldplay are no strangers to topping the bill.
The ‘Viva La Vida’ hitmakers first headlined the Pyramid Stage back in 2002, and the chart-topping band – which is fronted by Chris Martin – are now poised to become the first act to headline Glastonbury five times.
Despite this, Coldplay haven’t actually performed at the festival since 2016.
Meanwhile, SZA will head to Glastonbury in June on the back of a successful arena tour and after winning three Grammy Awards in February.
The singer – whose real name is Solana Rowe – was also named the Best International Artist at the recent Brit Awards.
Elsewhere, it’s been announced that country music legend Shania Twain will play the coveted ‘legend slot’ on Sunday afternoon.
Shania revealed that she plans to make her performance an unforgettable one.
The 58-year-old star told the BBC: “I’m doing the hits – the songs that everybody knows and the versions that everybody knows. It’s just going to be a big sing-along party.”
The festival’s line-up actually features a host of big-name female stars, after organisers were criticised for having all-male headliners last year.
The likes of Avril Lavigne, Jessie Ware, Cyndi Lauper and Camila Cabello are all scheduled to perform at Worthy Farm in 2024, with Avril and Camila making their debuts at the festival.e
Meanwhile, Little Simz – the Brit Award-winning rapper – will play immediately before Coldplay take to the stage.

Roger Daltrey compares smashing guitar to ‘killing his wife’

OHMYGOSSIP — Roger Daltrey has compared smashing his guitar to “killing his wife”.
The Who legend, 80, insisted he only ever broke one of his instruments and he still regrets it, even likening it to the idea of murdering his wife Heather Taylor.
He told Shawn Keaveny on the ‘Daily Grind’ podcast: “[Fans] never came to hear the music, they came to see the guitar being broken.
“The trouble is the guitar was worth 50 gigs. I’ve only ever smashed one guitar and I’m really sorry I did it.
“I don’t know why, just this thing came over me. I’ve always regretted it – I thought ‘I shouldn’t have done that, that was like killing the wife.’ ”
The frontman’s bandmate Pete Townshend has a real passion for smashing guitars, and Roger previously admitted he hated seeing his friend destroy such expensive instruments.
He wrote in his memoir ‘Thanks A Lot Mr. Kibblewhite’: “It was heartbreaking. When I remembered how much I’d struggled to get my first guitars, it was like watching an animal being slaughtered.
“An expensive animal that we’d have to replace with another expensive animal before the next gig.
“And we had to pay for the hole in the ceiling … from then on, the audience expected us to break our instruments. It was our thing.”
However, Roger later admitted Pete would carefully break the neck of his guitar so that he could glue the body back together after the shows.
Speaking to the ‘How to Wow’ podcast in 2020, he said: “It was costly in glue because as fast as we were smashing it — we had four sets of gear — it then got glued and by the time we got to smash it again the glue had set.
“They weren’t prop guitars, they were real guitars, but we worked out very cleverly, very rarely did the neck break, as long as the neck didn’t break you could glue the body back.
“Even with holes in it, it didn’t matter, as long as the distance between the bridge and the nut of the guitar [where the strings are supported] was the same you could make it work.”

Justin Timberlake reunites with NSYNC for first live performance since 2013

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Timberlake has reunited with *NSYNC for a performance for the first time in over a decade.
The ‘I Want You Back’ hitmakers – also featuring Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, JC Chasez and Lance Bass – came together for Justin’s ‘One Night Show’ at the Wiltern in Los Angeles on Wednesday night (13.03.24).
The iconic boy band came together to perform 1990s classics ‘Bye Bye Bye’ and ‘It’s Gonna Be Me’.
They also treated fans to the live debut of new song ‘Paradise’, which features on his upcoming album ‘Everything I Thought It Was’, which drops on Friday (15.03.24).
The track is the second *NSYNC have worked on together in recent memory, after ‘Better Place’ last year for the ‘Trolls Band Together soundtrack’, which marked their first song in over two decades.
Before this week, the group hadn’t performed on stage together since reuniting when JT won the Video Vanguard Award at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.
Five years later, they appeared publicly together to receive their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but fans had to wait until last year’s MTV VMAs to see them reunite in public again.
They came together that night to present the best pop prize to Taylor Swift.
While he hadn’t worked with NSYNC in over 20 years, the ‘SexyBack’ hitmaker admitted it felt like no time had passed when they got together again to record ‘Better Place’.
Speaking on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’, he said: “That was fun. It’s kind of crazy, like, there’s so much that just picks up right where it left off as far as the chemistry.”
And Lance had “no idea” there would be such a demand for the group to make a comeback.
He told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “It is beautiful, you know? To be this age and the fans are still this excited, it is a dream come true.
“I had no idea the fandom would go this nuts. It was pretty emotional, the first time we all got in the studio together.
“Back in March, we decided to, you know, get back together and have some fun and it was like no [time] had passed.”
“But there was there was a lot of tears. It was just tears of joy. And it was just a beautiful moment.
“Like, time does so much and for us to finally be together, it just feels right.”

Bon Jovi announce new album Forever as part of 40th anniversary celebrations

OHMYGOSSIP — Bon Jovi have announced the new album ‘Forever’.
The ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ rockers will release their 16th studio record on June 7 as part of the group’s 40th anniversary celebrations.
The first single from the album, ‘Legendary’, is out now and sets the stage for the monumental new record.
Frontman Jon Bon Jovi said: “This record is a return to joy. From the writing, through the recording process, this is turn-up-the-volume, feel-good Bon Jovi.”
Bon Jovi’s 40th anniversary celebrations are in full swing and continue on Thursday (14.03.24) when Hulu premieres the four-part docu-series ‘Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story’ at the SXSW Conference.
The series – which premieres on April 26 – features four decades of personal videos, unreleased early demos, original lyrics and unseen photos that chronicle the journey of the rockers from the clubs of Jersey Shore to the biggest stages on the planet.
Earlier this year, the group announced that the anniversary would be commemorated with the digital release of Bon Jovi Deluxe Edition.
Bon Jovi have also announced the release of an exclusive limited edition ruby colour vinyl LP on March 24 and limited edition cassette on April 5.
Jon revealed that he has had to overcome a number of issues in recent years, including serious vocal problems that afflicted him on the band’s 2022 tour, and explained that “joy” is at the centre of the record after the challenges he has come through.
In an interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, the 62-year-old singer said: “The overarching sentiment of this album is that of joy. How did I get to joy? I had to work through a lot of dark misery.
“I’m thinking about where to go musically and I run into a problem physically, where now I have to seek out a specialist in the field to do a vocal surgery that is not often done.”

‘Forever’ track list:
1. ‘Legendary’
2. ‘We Made It Look Easy’
3. ‘Living Proof’
4. ‘Waves’
5. ‘Seeds’
6. ‘Kiss The Bride’

Black Crowes worried music is missing ‘humanity’

OHMYGOSSIP — The Black Crowes are worried there’s “no humanity” in music anymore.
The ‘Hard to Handle’ hitmakers love to hear chaos and the imperfection that can be detected on old records and are concerned editing tools are being overused to make tracks sound flawless, because that leaves the songs with something missing.
Rich Robinson told The Sun newspaper: “The problem with a lot of music today is that there’s no humanity in it.
“There’s a pursuit of perfection and a use of these tools that sucks all human qualities out of it.
“Listen to a Beatles record – they’re all over the place. Same with Led Zeppelin and the Stones. That’s why their records are exciting.
“Some of my favourite moments on my favourite records have [slip] ups in them. You listen to Zeppelin’s ‘Since I’ve Been Loving You’ and you hear John Bonham’s squeaky kick-drum. That’s so cool.
“You hear about the Stones and the chaos that went into making ‘Exile On Main St’ in this mouldy French villa and it’s 100 degrees.
“It’s amazing and it’s dangerous and can fall off the rails at any time but it’s brilliant and it never does. That’s the human element.”
But the group think there is still a genuine desire for rock and roll in the world today.
Rich’s brother and bandmate, Chris Robinson, said: “A few months ago, we saw AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses and Metallica at Power Trip [Indio, California] in front of 100,000 people.
“I also watched Queens Of The Stone Age recently at the LA Forum. They were rocking out, playing beautiful riffs.”
After going on a “contractual obligation” tour in 2014, the group went their separate ways and the brothers didn’t speak for five years.
Chris admitted: “We had to take it off the heat.
“From the day that tour was over, I didn’t speak to Rich until 2019.”
Father-of-five Rich added: “Two of my guys were still really little at the time and they had never met Chris.
“But my older guys would always ask, ‘How come you never talk to him?’”
And after a chance meeting, the pair got their relationship, and the band, back on track – but didn’t speak about their break.
Chris said: “When we eventually did get back together, believe it or not — we’re very funny and strange in our own way — we didn’t talk about our break from each other…
“My wife and I ran into Rich and his family in the lobby of The Bowery Hotel in New York.
“That day, we committed to giving it another go. Our dynamic is brotherly and it is very deep.”

Kacey Musgraves’ song Cardinal inspired by John Prine

OHMYGOSSIP — Kacey Musgraves’ new song ‘Cardinal’ is inspired by late country music star John Prine.
The 35-year-old singer was devastated by the loss of her friend and mentor in 2020 when he passed away aged 73 complications relating to COVID-19 – and Kacey has now revealed she kept seeing his favourite birds following his death and it inspired the track which opens her new album ‘Deeper Well’.
In the CD zine made to accompany the record, she explained: “When cardinals appear, angels are near. Unexplainable things started happening and cardinals started showing up on my doorstep soon after my good friend and mentor passed, John Prine.
“He always had a big connection to cardinals and felt that they were messengers from the spirit realm. He inspired this song, no doubt.”
In ‘Cardinal’, she sings: “I saw a sign / Or an omen / On the branches / In the mornin’ / It was right after I lost a friend / Without warning / Words unsaid / Scarlet red / Cardinal / Are you bringin’ me a message from the other side / Cardinal / Are you tellin’ me I’m on somebody’s mind / Don’t leave me behind.”
Kacey was a huge fan of the country veteran and they eventually became friends and collaborators, with the singer joining him for a performance on a cruise in 2015 and on stage at a gig in in Colorado in 2017.
After his death, Kacey credited John with having a huge influence on her songwriting. She told PEOPLE: “John Prine singlehandedly impacted my songwriting more than anyone else. He’s the king of turning phrase but keeping it simple. They say you shouldn’t meet your heroes, but you’ll never meet someone as truly genuine as he was.”
She added: “There are two times I’ve ever seen my dad cry: my Memaw’s funeral and the time I got to play with John Prine.”
The late star previously inspired another of Kacey’s tracks – 2019’s ‘Burn One with John Prine’ – which was about their first meeting at one of his annual Christmas parties.
John previously recalled to Rolling Stone: “This little girl comes up to me with her buddy … They wanted to take me out in the parking lot and get me high. I said, ‘Uh, gee, thanks but … no, thanks’
“We had our picture taken together and the next thing I know, I’m over at my record company, Oh Boy Records, and I hear this tape. It’s Kacey singing this song about how she’d like to burn one with John Prine.”

‘The song wasn’t working’: Mark Ronson feared I’m Just Ken would be cut from Barbie

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Ronson has revealed ‘I’m Just Ken’ was almost dropped from ‘Barbie’.
The 48-year-old producer, who co-wrote the track with Andrew Wyatt, “panicked” when he saw a rough cut of the blockbuster and realised Ryan Gosling’s performance of the track “wasn’t working” and studio executives even suggested to director Greta Gerwig that she should consider leaving the scene out of the film.
Mark recalled to Sunday Times Culture magazine: “I thought, ‘God, I hope we don’t ruin it.’
“At that first screening the song wasn’t working. I panicked. The humour wasn’t translating and Greta had to fight. The studio asked her how much she really needed it and she said, ‘With every inch of my body.’ And then there was a big swing.”
The song went on to be a huge success and has been nominated for an Oscar, and Mark thinks it has done a lot to “help young boys”.
He explained: “Ken is ridiculous. But Greta’s point was that nobody should ever be laughing at a character. We feel their pain, as crazy as that sounds about a guy wearing a white mink and two pairs of sunglasses. I never wanted to write a song for a cheap laugh. You want something to get under people’s skin.
“I know I’ll sound like David Brent, but the song helped young boys. My friend’s eight year old got broken up with and he said, ‘It’s OK, because Ken got broken up with by Barbie.’
“The song tells boys that it’s OK to be runner-up. The internet’s caused a level of isolation in boys and this idea of male camaraderie and sharing your feelings is a nice and unexpected thing to come out of it.”
And both the ‘Uptown Funk’ hitmaker and his co-writer can understand why the song appealed to so many people.
Mark said: “It had ripples everywhere. But especially in England, where there is a lineage for this kind of song. “It is the 1970s, the book Elton and Bernie wrote. A piano ballad that is sort of proggy and a bit 1980s too. A bit ‘Handbags and Gladrags’. Or it could be Robbie Williams.”
Andrew added: “It’s unbridled. ‘Like Total Eclipse of the Heart’. These are songs in which someone takes their emotions so seriously that they feel comfortable taking up a huge amount of space to make sure everyone knows they are upset.”

Madonna to close tour with huge FREE concert

OHMYGOSSIP — Madonna is set to perform a huge free show in Brazil.
The ‘Ray of Light’ singer will close out her ‘Celebration’ world tour with a concert on Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach on 4 May, with around two million fans expected to be in attendance.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Madonna is unstoppable and she wants to mark her historic tour with a truly special ending.
“Fans from all over the world are expected to travel to see her perform in what is expected to be an extravaganza.
“Her ‘Celebration Tour’ has already sealed itself as the pop concert of the decade.
“But this concert will be the cherry on the cake.”
While Madonna herself hasn’t officially announced the show, a post on the Instagram account for the city’s official tourism office, Visit Rio, shared the details.
A post advertising the concert stated: “It’s time to get ready! On May 4, the Queen of Pop arrives in Rio de Janeiro for a free and historic show at Copacabana Beach.
“Madonna ends The Celebration Tour here in the Marvelous City, celebrating 40 years of her career with a show that promises to be her biggest.
“Tag here who is also guaranteed to be at this show with you!”
The ‘Vogue’ hitmaker has previously performed in the city three times, in 1993, 2008 and 2012, playing in front of 120,000 at her first gig there.
The free show will follow previous similar performances from the Rolling Stones, who played for 1.5 million on the beach in 2006, and Sir Rod Stewart, who broke the record for the largest free rock concert when 4.2 million revellers watched him in action at Copacabana on New Year’s Eve 1994.

Dolly Parton was ‘tickling and cleaning’ Rob Halford’s beard in studio

OHMYGOSSIP — Dolly Parton started “tickling and cleaning” Rob Halford’s beard when they were rehearsing.
The Judas Priest frontman, 72, found it “so surreal” meeting the 78-year-old music legend for the first time and her stroking his facial hair.
The pair joined forces with ‘Heartbreaker’ hitmaker Pat Benatar, Eurythmics Annie Lennox and Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon to perform Dolly’s iconic hit ‘Jolene’ at the 2022 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony. Rob was then invited to record ‘Bygones’ for the country music icon’s rock album ‘Rockstar’, which also featured Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx and John 5.
He told Metal Hammer magazine of the first meeting: “She goes, ‘I love your beard!’, and she starts to clean my beard! It was so surreal! I’m meeting this living legend and she’s tickling my beard and going, ‘So you’re going to sing some Jolene with me?’ I was just floating.”
The ‘Breaking The Law’ rocker says it was a career highlight working with the ‘9 to 5’ hitmaker.
He said: “We’re on the phone to each other and she’s going [puts on a credible Southern US accent], ‘Send me the files! Send me the files!’ So I sent her the files and she calls back and goes, ‘I love these! This is gonna be great!’ This is Dolly Parton on speakerphone!
Ha ha! She’s just this beautiful beacon of life.
You can tell by the way I’m speaking that this is important to me as a musician, to have had this literally once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work with someone so great.”

Slash confirms star-studded Orgy of the Damned album

OHMYGOSSIP — Slash’s new blues album ‘Orgy of the Damned’ features guest appearances from stars including Brian Johnson, Steven Tyler, Iggy Pop and Demi Lovato.
The Guns N’ Roses guitarist has released the lead single – a cover of Howlin’ Wolf’s ‘Killing Floor’ with AC/DC star Johnson on vocals and Aerosmith’s Tyler playing harmonica – and confirmed the new album’s starry line-up also includes veteran rocker Iggy Pop and pop star Demi Lovato as well as ZZ Top star Billy F Gibbons, Queen collaborator Paul Rodgers, blues star Gary Clark Jr and The Black Crowes’ Chris Robinson.
Guests also include Dorothy, Chris Stapleton, Tash Neal and Beth Hart.
Tracks featured on the album include covers of ‘Oh Well’ by Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Wonder’s ‘Living for the City’ as well as ‘Papa Was a Rolling Stone’, ‘Hoochie Coochie Man’ and ‘Born Under a Bad Sign’.
Slash said of ‘Killing Floor’: “‘Killing Floor’ is one of my favorite Howlin’ Wolf songs, but also one of the iconic blues riffs that turned me on as a young guitar player.
“I’ve always wanted to cover it in some capacity and this record was the perfect vehicle. But playing it with this band, and with Brian Johnson singing, it was an achievement I would never have imagined back then. Let alone Steven Tyler providing the harp.”
Johnson added: “When Slash asked me to sing on ‘Killing Floor,’ I said yes immediately. It was one of the first songs I learned in my very first band, and when he played me the backing track it was a no-brainer, and Steven’s harmonica is so bloody hot. I had a ball with Slash in the studio, and I think we did this great old song justice. Rock on.”
A summary of Orgy of the Damned reads: “A great cover takes something old and makes it new again. This is the philosophy behind Slash’s new album, ‘Orgy Of The Damned’, a collection of 12 dynamic songs that shakes up and revitalised blues classics with a stripped down, instinctive approach.”
‘Orgy of the Damned’ is released on May 17.

‘Let’s see’: Kylie Minogue hints she might collaborate with Madonna

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Minogue teased “let’s see” when asked about collaborating on a song with Madonna.
The Pop Princess, 55, and The Queen of Pop, 65, surprised fans when they performed Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive’ and the former’s noughties hit ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ when Madonna brought the ‘Celebration Tour’ to the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, last week.
And Kylie, who revealed the ‘Vogue’ hitmaker’s manager Guy Oseary got in touch just weeks before to ask her to duet with his client, responded to Variety at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party on Sunday (10.03.24) when they quizzed her on a potential song with Madonna: “Maybe. Who knows? Let’s see.”
However, it’s not the first time she’s been asked about recording a track with the ‘Like a Virgin’ singer.
Speaking to New York’s 1035KTU radio station, she said: “I would. Of course, I would! She’s going on tour. I don’t have Madonna’s number but if I was in town and she was in town it would be amazing. The building would probably fall down. We’d need to send our warnings!”
