OHMYGOSSIP — Morten Harket has plenty of new material for another solo album.
The a-ha frontman has a batch of songs penned about his “philosophical” musings on politics and could easily release a follow-up to 2014’s ‘Brother’.
Another big theme is “love issues”.
He told Classic Pop magazine: “I have a lot of songs.
“I could have put some on ‘True North’ [a-ha’s comeback album], but it wasn’t the place, when there was so much material already on the table.”
He added: “I’ve started to write more lyrics on my own, and feel pretty happy about that.
“There’s a political side, but with a philosophical perspective.
There are love issues: the dynamic between two people who become aware of each other in a crowded room, when you don’t know each other, but suddenly you are the only two people aware of each other.
I find those mechanisms fascinating. ”
The 63-year-old Norweigen singer admits his solo tunes are entirely different from the stuff he, Magne Furuholmen and Paul Waaktaar-Savoy make in the ‘Take On Me’ group.
He added: “My songs are a little different to a-ha. The spirit of a-ha is a communal effort, so none of our songs on our own sound the same.
“But it’s up to others to say how these new songs will differ from a-ha.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Willis never intended to be a musician.
The 39-year-old star shot to fame alongside Charlie Simpson, 37, and James Bourne, 39, as part of pop-rock band Busted in the early 2000s but had trained at the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School in London after being spotted at a holiday camp and attended class with the likes of Amy Winehouse and Billie Piper where he initially “fell in love” with acting.
He said: “I’d barely heard of the place. I sang in a talent competition at Haven Holidays camp. My mum made me do it and I sang ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ and I had sung a few times – little bits. So I sang in this talent competition and someone in the crowd worked for Sylvia Young. They said ‘We’re holding auditions for a scholarship, do you wanna come?’ I was 14 and I was like ‘Yeah, absolutely, I’ll do that!’ I looked it up not really knowing what it was and I then was like ‘Oh right, that’s where that Spice Girl [Emma Bunton] went.’
“They were all in my class. it was a really special time. Suddenly, I found something I could do that I was good at and enjoyed. I just wanted to get better at it and be at school rather than leave as soon as I possibly could. I fell in love with acting at school. I never ever intended to be a musician. It was something I just did as a hobby in my spare time and then me and James from Busted met and started writing songs.
The ‘Year 3000’ hitmaker – who since his heyday in Busted has gone on to act in productions of ‘Flashdance’ and ‘Waitress’ and is now starring alongside former ‘Love Island’ host Laura Whitmore in the West End production of ‘2:22 A Ghost Story’ – went on to explain that he and James unsuccessfully auditioned for lots of different bands before deciding to go it alone.
Speaking on ‘James Martin’s Saturday Morning Kitchen’, he added: “We auditioned for different bands around our area and we weren’t getting in. Then we did a few in London, and we met and were like ‘Should we just try something ourselves?’ At the time, we were discovering this American punk music that was a massive influence on us. So we just tried to take elements of that and take elements of pop music that we really loved.
“Music was kind of an accident – a really happy accident, which I’m very grateful for but it was an accident.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Stormzy and Burna Boy join Rihanna on the ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ soundtrack.
The full track-listing for ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – Music From And Inspired By’ has been unveiled following the release of ‘Lift Me Up’ by Rihanna.
London rapper Stormzy appears on ‘Interlude’, while Burna Boy has contributed the track ‘Alone’.
Hip-hop legend Future also features on the track ‘Limoncello’ by OG Dayv.
Nigerian rapper and musician Rema makes two appearances on Bloody Civilian’s ‘Wake Up’ and Alemán’s Pantera.
Composer Ludwig Göransson, who worked with the Marvel movie’s director Ryan Coogler on the soundtrack, told Pitchfork: “Ryan and I talked about the importance of creating an immersive journey of sound and voice. If we used a song in the film, we wanted it to be the entire song, and to be connected to the story.
“Thematically, we wanted to move the audience from grief to celebration. When you listen to the soundtrack, you can close your eyes and relive the experience of the movie. That was the intention.”
The slow-burning ‘Lift Me Up’ is a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, who played the titular character in the first film.
Rihanna was the director’s first choice for the soundtrack.
Ryan explained that the new mother was the perfect fit because motherhood is a big theme in the flick.
He said: “Rihanna, man, we knew she was at a point in her life as well where she was focusing on different things — focused on business, motherhood, which is a big theme in our film. We were holding out hope that maybe it could work out and boy did it for this song.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kelsea Ballerini will return to co-host the 2023 CMT Music Awards.
The country music awards will take place on April 2, 2023, airing live from the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, for the very first time.
What’s more, Carrie Underwood was confirmed as a performer during her concert at the venue on Wednesday (02.11.22).
Margaret Comeaux, John Hamlin, Leslie Fram and Jason Owen, executive producers of the awards, said in a statement: “Both Austin and Nashville are two of the world’s greatest music cities and we couldn’t be more excited to announce the return of the CMT Music Awards on CBS than with co-host Kelsea Ballerini surprising Carrie Underwood, our most awarded artist, in the middle of her incredible live performance at Moody Center – the exact venue where we’ll all be back exactly five months from today!
“Our fans are in for an unforgettable night of music with plenty of surprises, as the Live Music Capital meets Music City for the first time ever on a national stage in what will be a true country music extravaganza.”

Due to a positive COVID-19 test, Kelsea was forced to co-host from home at this year’s ceremony, with Kane Brown and Anthony Mackie on the ground.
She said at the time: “The incredible CMT team and my team have bought part of the CMT set to my house, to my little bubble, and set it up to where I can still host and perform.
“It is certainly not what we had expected or planned for, but we are doing our damn best. … Let’s make some lemonade together out of these very bitter lemons.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Selena Gomez hopes to release new music in 2023.
The former child star’s last studio album was 2020’s ‘Rare’, while last year she put out the Spanish language collection ‘Revelación’, and the ‘Come and Get’ hitmaker has hinted that she’ll return with more tunes next year.
Asked when fans can expect new music, she told Variety at the ‘Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me’ premiere at the AFI Festival on Wednesday (02.11.22): “Hopefully next year.”
The 30-year-old singer-and-actress also teased that it’s about time she played some shows for her fans.
Asked about a tour, she replied: “Maybe! I know. I should, right?”
Last year, Selena vowed to never quit music, despite previously saying she was considering retiring from music as she didn’t feel like she was being taken seriously.
She said at the time: “It’s hard to keep doing music when people don’t necessarily take you seriously.
“I’ve had moments where I’ve been like, ‘What’s the point? Why do I keep doing this?’ ‘Lose You to Love Me’ I felt was the best song I’ve ever released, and for some people it still wasn’t enough. I think there are a lot of people who enjoy my music, and for that I’m so thankful, for that I keep going, but I think the next time I do an album it’ll be different. I want to give it one last try before I maybe retire music.”
Speaking about her tell-all documentary, which debuts on Apple TV+ on Friday (04.11.22), she told the publication: “By being fully honest and transparent about what I walked through, there’s nothing that they can say that honestly will affect me.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Reba McEntire has postponed her upcoming concerts on doctor’s orders.
The 67-year-old country music legend has been placed on vocal rest and has therefore cancelled her planned performances this weekend and moved them to December.
In a social media statement, she said: “An update about this weekend’s shows.
My doctor has advised me to go on vocal rest, so I have made the difficult decision to reschedule this weekend’s shows.
“All tickets will be honored for the new dates.
“Thank you for understanding!”
Reba is now scheduled to play in Columbus, Ohio on December 2, in Raleigh, North Carolina on December 3, and in Indianapolis, Indiana on December 16.
Last year, the ‘Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar’ tested positive for COVID-19, only to be told it was more likely RSV virus (Respiratory syncytial virus) she was suffering from.
The music legend and her partner, Rex Linn, both tested positive for the virus despite being fully vaccinated.
She said in a TikTok live stream: “I just want to say one thing: this has been a hard year and it’s getting rougher again. You guys, please stay safe. Wear your mask. Do what you have to do. Stay home.
“It’s not fun to get this. I did get it. Rex and I got it and it’s not fun. You don’t feel good. We were both vaccinated and we still got it, so stay safe, stay home, and be protected the best you can.”
However, when she was tested for antibodies, it turned out she had all the symptoms of coronavirus, but her nurse suggested it was more likely to be the RSV virus.
Appearing on ‘Talk Shop Live’ with Nancy O’Dell, Reba said: “I did say that I had COVID but when I got tested my antibodies — it came up that I had not had COVID.
“I had my antibodies from my vaccine.
“So I had all the symptoms, so I was kinda probably — I did get tested, you know the test that I had and it said that I had it but then the nurse that came and tested me for my antibodies said that I probably had the RSV virus.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘Neil Young: Harvest Time’ documentary is heading to cinemas worldwide next month.
The ‘Heart of Gold’ hitmaker’s film takes the viewer on an “intimate journey to Neil’s Broken Arrow Ranch in Northern California for the ‘Harvest Barn’ sessions, to London for an iconic performance with the London Symphony Orchestra, and to Nashville where the then 20-something Neil Young worked on various tracks of this signature album [‘Harvest’].”
It’s part of the 50th-anniversary celebrations for the seminal 1972 collection.
The doc heads to cinemas on December 1, with limited encores on December 4.
Neil, 76, said: “This is a big album for me. 50 years ago. I was 24, maybe 23 and this album made a big difference in my life. I played with some great friends and it’s really cool that that this album has lasted so long. I had a great time and now when I listen to it, I think I was really just lucky to be there. I hope you enjoy this story, which is ‘Harvest Time,’ and which talks about everything that happened. And now people all around the world can see it at the movies.”
Fans can also get their hands on 50th Anniversary Edition Box Sets on Vinyl and CD.
Meanwhile, Neil previously revealed he turned down “millions” to tour the classic album.
The ‘Cinnamon Girl’ hitmaker doesn’t want to perform a retrospective show of the fourth LP in full because “everyone” who worked on the record with him has since died.
He said: “I was just offered millions of dollars for a tour to do ‘Harvest’.
“Everyone who played on ‘Harvest’ is dead. I don’t want to do that. How about planting instead of harvesting?”
Neil was joined by his band the Stray Gators when he made ‘Harvest’, but pianist Jack Nitzche passed away in 2000 and drummer Kenny Buttrey died in 2004. In 2010, pedal-steel guitarist Ben Keith also died, and final member, bassist Tim Drummond, passed away in 2015.
The music legend admitted performing live is getting harder as he gets older but he’s not planning to retire.
He said in 2019: “I’d feel like Cher. Don’t retire unless you really aren’t interested. I’m interested.
“It hurts a little to play now where it didn’t before. I don’t hear quite as well as I did before. My voice is not like it was before.
“Show me something that is like it was before. I feel good about the future. The idea is, do not stop moving.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Cave is planning to start work on a new album.
The rocker has a busy few months ahead as he’s about to start a tour of Australia with his collaborator Warren Ellis which will wrap in Sydney on December 17 – but after that Nick is planning to put aside some time to start work on his next musical project.
He made the revelation during a London Literature Festival question-and-answer session at the Southbank Centre earlier this week, explaining: “The thing is, that’s [a new album] coming, and I know what that involves. It’s about a man sitting down in his space and confronting a complete lack of ideas about things. I don’t collect ideas, I don’t write things down or get a cool title or whatever. I don’t do that stuff. I just make a date and sit down and start to write a record.”
Nick added of the writing process: “The initial sitting down comes from a complete absence of ideas, and every line I write seems to affirm the fact that I am not very good at what I do! It’s a very slow process of just collecting a line together and putting it next to another one … it’s micro-managing these words to get something going, and it just grows. That initial thing, it’s not very nice. I wish it wasn’t so.”
The star added: “I’ve read Neil Young wrote the whole of ‘Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere’ in bed one day when he had the flu. Is that true? And I’m like, ‘F*** you, man!’ – I never liked that record anyway.”
The last album the musician released with his band The Bad Seeds was 2019’s ‘Ghosteen’ while last year he dropped an LP called ‘Carnage’ with Ellis. The duo also created the soundtrack for 2022 Netflix movie ‘Blonde’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Trainor wants to go back on tour.
The 28-year-old pop star – who has been married to ‘Spy Kids’ actor Daryl Sabara since 2018 and has 20-month-old son Riley with him – has not been on the road since she headlined ‘The Untouchable Tour’ across the US in 2016 but realised how much she has “missed” performing since she saw Harry Styles perform in concert and would love to get a series of shows done as soon as possible so she can then have another baby.
She said: “I saw Harry Styles perform last week and it made me miss touring. I thought, ‘We should knock out a tour real fast and then get pregnant.’ I want to come to the UK as soon as possible. My favourite place is that biga*** mall-Harrods!”
Meanwhile, the ‘Lips are Movin’ hitmaker – who has now released her fifth studio album ‘Takin it Back’ – went on to reveal that in the early days of motherhood, she felt “guilty” for accepting her dream television job because she had to spend so much time away from the little one.
She told The Sun on Sunday’s Bizarre column: “Three months after I gave birth, I got offered a job hosting a TV show. ‘Top Chef Family Style’. I thought it was way too early to take that job on, but it was also my dream. I felt so much guilt for not being with my boy all day long. Kids say, ‘Dada’ first because it’s easier, but I was like, ‘Well, it’s because I’m not home!’ You ask yourself. ‘Am! doing everything right? Is my baby happy?’ But then I remind myself that he is the happiest kid.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Keith Moon allegedly once threw a cat at his girlfriend Annette Walter-Lax.
Former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman, 86, has recalled the infamous wild antics of the late Who drummer – who he claimed was often under the influence of multiple prescription drugs and booze.
He told Classic Rock: “Keith was a wonderful guy but, God he did overindulge. The doctor would come round and give him so much bloody stuff, then three days later Keith would’ve taken it all.
“There’d be Valium 10s, sleeping pills, wake-up pills and speeding pills, and he would just down them all the time. And there’d be champagne in the mornings, with brandy. I used to watch him in disbelief.”
Keith – who tragically met his demise aged 32, in 1978, after suffering an accidental overdose of the prescription drug Heminevrin, prescribed to combat alcoholism – is believed to have gotten into a physical altercation with his partner, which ended with him launching the pussy at her face.
He remembered: “Once I was making a cup of tea in the morning and his lovely Swedish girlfriend [Annette Walter-Lax] came down – I’d heard them fighting upstairs – and she had scratches down each side of her face, with blood. I said: ‘Annette, what happened?’ And she went: ‘Oh, nothing. Keith just threw the cat at me.'”
Sharing the extreme lengths Keith would go to in a bid to amuse himself, Bill added: “He’d do the maddest things. If he’d be meeting me […] he’d arrive in a full hunting uniform. He’d have been out and hired fox-hunting gear: hat, coat, riding crop, jodhpurs.
“One time he bought a cemetery in the West Country as a birthday present for [Who bassist] John Entwistle.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lionel Richie is returning to the UK for his first show since 2019.
The ‘Hello’ hitmaker will play the Nocturne Live concert series at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, which takes place between June 14 to 18, 2023.
He said: “I’m really looking forward to heading to Blenheim Palace next summer.
“The UK crowds are some of the best in the world and I can’t wait to get back over there to see you all!”

Earlier this year, the music legend was forced to cancel all of his summer 2022 UK and European gigs, including his headline slot at the Isle of Wight Festival, due to the “impact” of COVID-19.
In a Twitter statement in February, he said: “As COVID and its variants continue to impact the world, I have decided to hold off on my European tour this summer.
“The most important thing to me is the health of my fans, band and crew. I hope you all understand and I hope to see you very soon when we can all gather safely.”
The ‘Dancing on the Ceiling’ hitmaker was due to co-headline The Isle of Wight Festival with Lewis Capaldi on June 17.
The 73-year-old singer previously vowed to never stop touring.
The ‘All Night Long’ hitmaker loves performing for people across the globe and has no plans of stopping anytime soon.
He said: “The tour hasn’t stopped. Once someone asked me how long is this tour gonna last, and I said, well I’ve been on tour since ’71.”
Lionel also praised the British music industry for its global influence.
He added: “The British have so much influence on the musical scene. The Beatles came over, and, of course, The Rolling Stones and you’ve got the rush of Ed Sheeran now. As far as I’m concerned, artistry is always kind of a thing that Britain has always stayed right on top of. I always say, if you have a hit record, play it, and make sure you do one thing more importantly, don’t change it, cos they have to know when to come in, the crowd has to know when to sing, you want the original, you want it to sound just like the record, and for god’s sake play it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Rihanna returned to music to record a song in honour of Chadwick Boseman.
The pop star broke her hiatus and got bak into the studio to create a track called ‘Lift Me Up’ for the ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ soundtrack and the movie’s director Ryan Coogler has now revealed she saw the project as a tribute to the first film’s star Boseman, who died in 2020 aged 43.
According to Screenrant.com, Coogler explained how the collaboration came about during a press event, saying: “The truth is we were looking for a great artist who could tell the story of the film, embrace the themes of the film, and present them to the audience in a different packaging … This film is different [to the first film]. It made sense that it would be a woman, and it made sense that it would be someone who could speak to not necessarily the words but the feeling of motherhood, because that’s a major theme in this film.”
He added of the pop star: “I think it timed up that she was in that kind of space in her life, and she was open. It was really the trailer, I think, when she saw the performances that everybody was putting down. That was what kind of put her over the edge and [made her] say, ‘Hey, I want to see this film. I want to see if I can figure this out.’ …”
However, Coogler revealed Rihanna was very open about the one big reason she wanted to record the song. He went on: “The truth is, once she played us the record, she said straight up, ‘I did this for Chad.’ It was him, man. And sitting here thinking about it, it’s hitting me right now … Chad brought us all together, you know what I mean? He just keeps on and keeps on giving. I’m just really thankful that Rihanna was the latest gift to join the family, and I can’t wait for folks to see how it’s used in the film.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds are back with the new song, ‘Pretty Boy’, featuring Johnny Marr.
The 55-year-old musician has released the lead single from the upcoming follow-up to 2017’s ‘Who Built The Moon?’, and he’s hailed his good friend Johnny, who plays lead guitar, for “taking it somewhere special”.
He said: “For this new record it was the first thing I wrote, the first thing I demoed and the first thing I finished, so it’s only right that it’s the first thing people get to hear. Massive shout out to my mainest man Johnny Marr for taking it somewhere special.”
Noel, who is reluctant to feature in his own music promos, teased: “Oh … and watch out for a cameo from me in the video … first one to spot me wins a bag of Flamin’ Hot Wotsits Giants!!”
Since the last record, the former Oasis star has been experimenting with various genres on a series EPs, including the infectious dance track ‘Black Star Dancing’, from the 2019 EP of the same name.
A second EP, ‘This Is The Place’, followed that year, and a third, ‘Blue Moon Rising’, in 2020.
In June 2021, NGHFB released the chart-topping greatest hits collection ‘Back The Way We Came: Vol 1 (2011-2021)’.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will release their fourth studio album in 2023, with “further details to be revealed soon.”

The KISS co-founder, 70, says the Led Zeppelin legend, 78, is far more than a guitarist, comparing his music to paintings.
Taking part in a Q+A on the ‘Kiss Kruise’, he said: “The guy who I respect the most and had the most impact on me is Jimmy Page … Jimmy’s Beethoven. Jimmy is so far beyond … When people say, ‘Oh, all respect to a lot of other hotshot guitar players,’ they’re guitar players. Jimmy Page is a brilliant cinematographer; he’s a brilliant arranger. He paints with sound.
He continued: “There’s lots of guys … They say, ‘Well, who’s better: [Eric] Clapton or…?’ Jimmy Page is in a class totally by himself.
“And there’s loads of great guitar players, but he’s so far beyond that. Plus, it’s amazing, ’cause I was a 17-year-old kid seeing them in 1969 and it was life-changing — it changed my life. Paul added of the complexity hidden in Zeppelin’s tunes: “It’s not always the obvious thing that makes a song, and it’s not always the obvious thing that makes anything great, whether it’s a painting or a song.
“When people say, ‘Oh, Zeppelin, that’s, like, heavy metal or something,’ give me a break. Those songs are paintings. You think you’re hearing one big guitar. You’re not. You’re hearing a little guitar with another guitar behind it, and it’s all layered. And that’s the brilliance. And I think that too often in all kinds of things that we do in life, we think it’s what we see, and it’s very often what’s behind what we see, and it’s very often what’s behind what we hear. It’s not what we think it is. That’s where I think a lot of people fail.”
He concluded: “[Jimmy is] brilliant. What he’s done is just crazy.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Pulp, George Ezra, The Chemical Brothers and Robbie Williams will headline The Isle of Wight Festival 2023.
After recently confirming their reunion next summer with a string of shows and festival dates, Sheffield rockers Pulp will return to Seaclose Park in Newport for the first time in 12 years to headline the main stage on the Friday night.
‘Green Green Grass’ hitmaker George co-headlines on Saturday night with The Chemical Brothers.
And former Take That star Robbie Williams will play a UK festival exclusive, closing out the festival on the Sunday night.
The ‘Angels’ hitmaker said: “There is something magic about a British festival…us Brits know how to bring the energy. I am thrilled to be headlining the iconic Isle of Wight Festival, it’s a real honour. I can’t wait.”
Among those making their debut at the iconic festival are One Direction star Niall Horan and Australian rockers Gang of Youths.
‘Grace Kelly’ hitmaker MIKA, synth-pop icons The Human League, indie rockers The Enemy and reunited hip-hop group N-Dubz are also on the bill.
The Big Top on Thursday night will host Groove Armada, and rock legends Manic Street Preachers will close the Big Top on Sunday night.
Courteeners and Example will also play The Big Top.
James Bay is returning for the first time since 2018.
Blondie, Sugababes, Anne-Marie Sophie Ellis-Bextor, ‘Eurovision’ runner-up Sam Ryder, Scouting For Girls, OneRepublic, Gabrielle and many more will play across the weekend.
The festival takes place between June 15 and 18.
