OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift kicked off her ‘Eras’ tour with a 44-song set.
The 33-year-old singer/songwriter took to the stage at Arizona’s State Farm Stadium on Friday (17.03.23) for an epic three-hour set, which took fans on a journey through her body of work.
It has been five years since Taylor last toured, during which time she has released three new albums and she told fans: “I can’t even go into how much I’ve missed you.
“I don’t know how to process all of this and how it’s making me feel right now.
“[But] let me start by saying you’re making me feel fantastic.”
Taylor opened the show with ‘Miss Americana And The Heartbreak Prince’ from her 2019 ‘Lover’ album, before taking fans on a journey through her music history.
Highlights included the 10-minute version of ‘All Too Well’, ‘Look What Made You Do’ which was performed against a giant video wall showing Swift throughout her 17-year career and ‘Blank Space’, which featured her dancers riding neon bikes.
Taylor said: “I’m trying to tell you I love you and I’m babbling.”
Gayle and Paramore were the support acts for the opening night of the 52-date tour.
To celebrate Taylor kicking off her tour in Glendale, the city was temporarily renamed Swift City.
A statement from city officials namechecked a number of the pop star’s songs in a statement that read: “There is no need to calm down, we’re fearless and doing something highly unusual to celebrate the fact that Taylor’s concerts start right here!
“We know all too well that she’s one of the most influential artists of her generation and we are writing our own love story for her and greeting every Swiftie in style!”
It will remain in effect for the two nights she’s performing in Glendale.

OHMYGOSSIP — Metallica have purchased a majority stake in a vinyl pressing plant.
The heavy metal band have become majority partners in Furnace Record Pressing in Alexandria, Virginia, which is one of the largest pressing plants in the United States, boasting 12 Pheenix Alpha presses and two Finebilt presses.
The plant – which was founded in 1996 by Eric Astor – pressed several reissues for Metallica, including box set vinyl of their albums ‘Kill ‘Em All’, ‘Ride The Lightning’ and ‘Master Of Puppets’.
In a statement, Astor said: “Building Furnace into the dedicated and experienced family of experts that it is today has been a huge effort, but immensely gratifying.
“Knowing our long-term future is secured while also being better able to take advantage of growth opportunities is really exciting for every member of the Furnace staff.”
Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich added: “We couldn’t be more happy to take our partnership with Furnace — and Eric, Ali and Mark specifically — to the next level. Their indie spirit, the passion they have for their craft… culturally we’re kindred souls.”
‘Enter Sandman’ singer James Hetfield said: “Furnace has been great to Metallica and more importantly to our fans. This deepened relationship between Metallica and Furnace ensures that fans of vinyl everywhere, particularly our Fifth Members, will have continued access to high quality records in the future.”
At the start of 2023, it was revealed that that vinyl outsold CD format for first time in 35 years last year. Overall music sales increased by three per cent in 2022, which is the highest figure since 2003.

OHMYGOSSIP — Micky Dolenz believes it’s his “job” to “uphold the legacy” of The Monkees as the last surviving member of the band.
The 78-year-old drummer-and-singer found global fame on ’60s TV series ‘The Monkees’ which showed four young men – Micky, Davy Jones, Peter Tork and Michael Nesmith – trying to make it as a rock ‘n’ roll group. It was inspired by The Beatles film ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ and was a huge hit, also becoming popular again in the 1980s when it was repeated.
Micky is about to embark on a 25-date North America tour which kicks off on April 1 in Orlando, Florida, on which he will be playing the band’s greatest hits, which include, ‘Daydream Believer’, ‘Last Train to Clarksville’ and ‘I’m a Believer’, as well as the 1967 album ‘Headquarters’ in full, and he insists it is his job to keep The Monkees’ music alive.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, he said: “I’m not necessarily a spiritual person, but I am a philosophic person.
“It’s sort of a ‘Why me?’ to the universe… It’ll remain unanswered. But I am trying to uphold the legacy. It’s also my job.
“It is weird being the last man standing.
“We’ll open with some of the big hits, people love that, and then do ‘Headquarters’, and then end with some of the big hits.”
Micky admits he will miss his bandmate Michael – who died aged 78 in 2021, a month after the pair had headed out on the road – because he played such an integral role in creating the show he’ll soon be touring.
He added: “I wish Nesmith would have been around long enough to [be on the new tour performing] this album, which he was so responsible for putting together.
“We were all obviously supporting him… It was so apparent he had health issues.
“He had them for a few years. We were getting more and more worried. He was not forced in any way, obviously. At times, I was like, ‘Nez, are you sure you want to do this? Let’s take some time off’. ‘No! I’m going to get through it’. Looking back, I think he saw the writing on the wall.
“He was a very private person. He didn’t talk about it. Every once in a while he made a joke about it to me, but I was about the only one he’d even talk to about this.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Bobby Caldwell has died aged 71.
The singer passed away at his home, after dealing with health issues for some time.
Mary Caldwell, his wife, said in a statement on Twitter: “Bobby passed away here at home. I held him tight in my arms as he left us. I am forever heartbroken. Thanks to all of you for your many prayers over the years. He had been “FLOXED,” it took his health over the last 6 years and 2 months. Rest with God, my Love. -Mary Caldwell (sic)”
Caldwell was best known for his 1978 hit ‘What You Won’t Do For Love’, which was subsequently sampled by the likes of Tupac Shakur, Common and John Legend.
The New York-born star – who married Mary in 2004 – got his first big break as a guitarist for Little Richard. The versatile performer released his debut album in 1978, while he also wrote music for numerous other artists during his career, including Peter Cetera and Amy Grant’s 1986 hit ‘The Next Time I Fall’.
Caldwell released his last album, ‘Cool Uncle’, in 2015.
Meanwhile, Questlove – who collaborated with Common on ‘The Light’, which sampled Caldwell’s ‘Open Your Eyes’ – has already taken to social media to pay a heartfelt tribute to the late singer.
As part of a lengthy tribute, the 52-year-old musician wrote on Instagram: “Man such a missed opportunity to meet a legend. Thank you for your voice and gift #BobbyCaldwell (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — Freddie Cowan is leaving The Vaccines.
The guitarist – who has recently been putting out music as Freddie and The Scenarios – has confirmed that he’s stepping down from his position within the band “for the foreseeable future”.
Freddie said in a statement posted on Instagram: “It hasn’t been easy to come to this decision, but in my heart I know it’s time to step down from my position in The Vaccines for the foreseeable future.
“We loved and fought and cried and cared deeply for each other. I would say like brothers but actually I feel like it’s often the chosen family that really matter to us in our lives.
“The band will always be my family. We are bonded forever through the experiences we shared.”
Freddie has loved his time in the indie rock band – which was formed in London in 2010 – and he’s hopeful of reuniting with his bandmates one day.
He continued: “I also hope we have another chapter together when the time is right.
“Love and gratitude to everyone in and out of the camp that made my dream a reality. I never thought it was possible to stand on the Reading main stage or have a number one album. It was a wild and fulfilling ride and my life is richer and forever different for having been part of a truly great band.”
Freddie has also wished his bandmates well for the future.
He said: “I hope The Vaccines continue to new heights for years and years to come.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Bebe Rexha has invited Stevie Nicks to feature on a remix of her new single.
The 33-year-old singer released ‘Heart Wants What It Wants’ last month and after realising it had been “inspired” by the Fleetwood Mac star’s back catalogue, decided to get in touch with her directly and the pair are now working on a remix of the track which she hopes will be available soon.
She told The Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column: “We hit up her team and said we have a song and it’s very inspired by Fleetwood Mac and Stevie.
“She heard it and loved it. We are still working on the remix but hopefully it will come out soon!”
The ‘I’m A Mess’ hitmaker went on to explain that because she was brought up on Albanian music, she never really got the chance to listen to the 1970s rock band – which also consisted of
Mick Fleetwood, John McVie. Mike Campbell, Neil Finn, and the late Christine McVie – and only came across the ‘Go Your Own Way’ hitmakers when a producer suggested it in the studio.
She added: “I grew up in a household where we listened to a lot of Albanian music and my mum listened to a lot of 80s dance but I never really got into 70s music.
“It wasn’t until I was with one of my producers and said, ‘Let’s do a deep dive into something we’ve never done before’; so we started listening to a lot of Fleetwood Mac and disco music

OHMYGOSSIP — Mike Shinoda insists Linkin Park will never perform with a “creepy” hologram of Chester Bennington.
The ‘In The End’ rocker has dismissed the idea of using technology to share the stage with the band’s late frontman again following his tragic death aged 41 in 2017.
Appearing on ‘94.5 The Buzz’, he said: “Those are creepy.
“Even if we weren’t talking about us, if we weren’t talking about Chester, which is… that’s a very sensitive subject, and we would have our feelings about how we would represent that.
“For me, that’s a clear no. I’m not into that.”
He discussed the way the likes of ABBA are using holograms for live shows despite still being alive, and while he isn’t sure he’d be rushing out to “buy a ticket”, he sees the appeal.
He explained: “Even as a viewer of, like, just a fan of another band — like I heard ABBA, for example, they’re doing a hologram show, and they’re still alive.
“Then you get to have an opinion about it based on, like… They’re all still here, and yet they wanna do it this way because they wanna transport you back to that moment in time where those songs were new and it was whatever era it was.
“I get that. I see that. I’m not positive, even under those circumstances, I’m not positive I personally would buy a ticket to the show. But [other people] would. That’s fine.”
However, he pointed out that people are free to their opinions and he encourages people to see hologram gigs if they want to – but it won’t be a Linkin Park concert.
He added: “The problem with the Internet now is that everybody thinks that everything is for everybody.
“And what I mean is everyone feels like they need to chime in, like, ‘Well, here’s my opinion. This is what I have to say. And if it’s not for me, like if I don’t like it, then nobody should like it.’
“That’s not the way the world works. If you like a thing and I don’t like the thing, then you go see the thing, you go buy the thing. So please go see your thing.
“The only problem with that is, we’re not going to do a hologram show.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Avenged Sevenfold have released their first new song in seven years, ‘Nobody’, and announced their new album ‘Life Is But a Dream…’
M. Shadows and co will release the follow-up to 2016’s ‘The Stage’ on June 2.
For now, they’ve shared ‘Nobody’ and its stop-motion music video.
The short film explores “the dichotomy between life and death, love and war, and follows the main character through an existential crisis.”
The metal legends will also play two huge one-off gigs at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on June 9 and New York’s Madison Square Garden on June 23.
Fans were given many teasers for new material, including a digital scavenger hunt with puzzles, ciphers, images, and blog posts all written by Chat GPT, DALL-E 2, and AI voice modifiers.
The upcoming album takes inspiration from the philosophy of Albert Camus, who was part of the rise of the absurdism and existentialism movement.
The ‘Hail to the King’ band previously hinted at addressing the issues that are affecting the world on their eighth outing.
Guitarist Zacky Vengeance said previously: “I think it’s important for us to lend our voice to what’s shaping the world socially and politically.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lana Del Rey has clarified she is playing Glastonbury and admitted she turned it down for the “last three years”.
The ‘Born To Die’ hitmaker had hinted she might not play the world-famous festival because she wasn’t impressed that the organisers didn’t announce she will have one of the top slots this summer when they released the first wave of artists on the line-up earlier this month, with headliners Arctic Monkeys, Guns N’ Roses and Sir Elton John listed at the top of the promotional poster alongside Lizzo – who organiser Emily Eavis said would have headlined if the ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ hitmakers hadn’t already been promised top billing – and then the rest of the acts mentioned in alphabetical order.
She reacted on Instagram: “Well, I’m actually headlining the 2nd stage. But since there was no consideration for announcing that we’ll see.”
However, after the festival put out a new line-up poster with the 37-year-old star higher up on the bill, she has confirmed she is headlining The Other Stage, which she admits is “unfathomable”.
The ‘White Dress’ singer admitted she rejected the festival three times because she didn’t feel worthy of playing Worthy Farm without a “big band”.
Speaking to Clara Amfo on BBC Radio 1, she said: “I am, I am, I am, I am. I’ve been excited to tell people, so I wanted to tell people because, as we started to announce some festivals, its unfathomable to me to headline the second stage of Glastonbury.
“They had asked me to play Glastonbury the last three years but we just weren’t ready. I didn’t want to say yes before we had a big band.”
Lana previously played the Pyramid Stage in 2014 and remembers it “vividly” as she suffered technical difficulties.
She recalled: “We did do it before, like eons ago.
“But honestly it feels like yesterday.
“I remember being on that stage vividly because I had never been on a stage where they set the crowd back about a thousand feet, so every time I tried to come forward past the monitors to get closer to everybody the feedback would ring through the crowd. I thought, ‘Oh wow, I’m really stuck on this stage – I can’t go down like I usually do and sing with everybody.'”
Lizzo also now has double billing with Guns N’ Roses.
Cat Stevens/Yusef is playing the Sunday afternoon legends slot.
Glastonbury takes place between June 21 and June 25.

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Hook and The Light and Sabrina Carpenter are among the new additions to the Isle of Wight Festival 2023.
The legendary festival returns to Seaclose Park in Newport between June 15 and 18, and some new names have been added to the bill, including former New Order and Joy Division star Peter’s group and the 23-year-old pop star.
Scottish singer Brooke Combe, Dublin’s CMAT, electrician-turned-singer Jamie Webster, and indie acts Joesef, Lottery Winners and Lovejoy have also been confirmed.
‘Afraid to Feel’ hitmakers LF System will also bring the party on the Thursday as they make their debut on the Big Top stage.
Pulp, George Ezra, The Chemical Brothers and Robbie Williams are this year’s headliners.
Sheffield rockers Pulp will return to Seaclose Park for the first time in 12 years to headline the main stage on the Friday night.
‘Green Green Grass’ hitmaker George co-headlines on Saturday night with The Chemical Brothers.
And former Take That star Robbie Williams will play a UK festival exclusive, closing out the festival on the Sunday night.
The ‘Angels’ hitmaker said: “There is something magic about a British festival…us Brits know how to bring the energy. I am thrilled to be headlining the iconic Isle of Wight Festival, it’s a real honour. I can’t wait.”
Among those making their debut at the iconic festival are One Direction star Niall Horan and Australian rockers Gang of Youths.
‘Grace Kelly’ hitmaker MIKA, synth-pop icons The Human League, indie rockers The Enemy and reunited hip-hop group N-Dubz are also on the bill.
The Big Top on Thursday night will host Groove Armada, and rock legends Manic Street Preachers will close the Big Top on Sunday night.
Courteeners and Example will also play The Big Top.
James Bay is returning for the first time since 2018.

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack White has broken his silence on the latest criticism of his ex-wife and former White Stripes bandmate Meg White’s drumming.
Journalist Lachlan Markay recently sparked a debate after slamming the 48-year-old’s skills on the drum kit as “terrible” and suggesting the ‘Seven Nation Army’ duo would have been better if they had a “half decent drummer”.
In a since-deleted tweet, he wrote: “The tragedy of the White Stripes is how great they would’ve been with a half decent drummer.
“Yeah yeah I’ve heard all the ‘but it’s a carefully crafted sound mannnn!’ takes. I’m sorry Meg White was terrible and no band is better for having s***** percussion.”
Many have spoken up to defend Meg, including Jack’s ex-spouse Karen Elson, who wrote: “Not only is Meg White a fantastic drummer, Jack [White] also said the White Stripes would be nothing without her. To the journalist who dissed her, keep my ex husband’s ex wife name out of your f****** mouth. (Please and Thank You).”
And now, Jack, 47, has shared a poem that slams the “demons, cowards and vampires out for blood” and calls for less “negativity”.
Alongside a picture of Meg at her drum kit, he posted to Instagram: “To be born in another time, any era but our own would’ve been fine. 100 years from now, 1000 years from now, some other distant, different, time.
“One without demons, cowards and vampires out for blood, one with the positive inspiration to foster what is good.”
The poem continued: “An empty field where no tall red poppies are cut down. Where we could lay all day, every day, on the warm and subtle ground.
“And know just what to say and what to play to conjure our own sounds.
“And be one with the others all around us.
“And even still the ones who came before,
“And help ourselves to all their love.
And pass it on again once more.
“To have bliss upon bliss upon bliss. to be without fear, negativity or pain, and to get up every morning, and be happy to do it all again.”
Meg has been bombarded with criticism of her drumming style in the past, and while the comments have upset her at times, the hate only spurred her on.
She said previously: “I appreciate other kinds of drummers who play differently, but it’s not my style or what works for this band. I get [criticism] sometimes, and I go through periods where it really bothers me. But then I think about it, and I realise that this is what is really needed for this band.”
The White Stripes split for good in 2011, due to “a myriad of reasons … mostly to preserve what is beautiful and special about the band.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Yusuf/Cat Stevens wants to make an unlikely collaboration with Green Day.
The 74-year-old musician – who is also known as Yusuf Islam – has just announced he is bringing out his seventeenth studio LP ‘King of a Land’ on June 16, the week before he plays Glastonbury’s legends slot, and he’s revealed he’s an unlikely fan of the US pop punk veterans and would love to work with them as he thinks they were inspired by his 1971 track ‘Bitterblue’ on their 2010 protest song ‘Know Your Enemy’.
Asked if he’s in the loop with pop music nowadays, he told NME: “Not very much. I came from one of pop’s pinnacle eras when there’d be a new milestone every week, so I tend to listen to that period most. But I love Green Day because of their message. ‘Know Your Enemy’ is an incredible song with a message about the Iraq war that was right on time.”
Asked if he’d like to collaborate with Billie Joe Armstrong and co, he replied: “Yeah! Wow, that’s a good idea. I think they listened to my song ‘Bitterblue’ before making ‘Know Your Enemy’, as I can hear little titbits of it in the chords and some of the words. I reckon we could definitely get it on.”
Cat is releasing his new record on the late Beatle George Harrison’s Dark Horse Records and worked on the songs at the studios at the music legend’s home, Friar Park, in Henley-on-Thames, England, which his widow, Olivia Harrison, 74, owns.
And he admitted he felt the guitarist’s “spirit” while making the record.
He said: “Oh, George’s spirit was there, of course. George left his spirit in so many places, including obviously his music. His son Dhani is the carrier of George’s legacy, and he protects it beautifully. Friar Park is like it’s brand new, as everything in the studio works so fantastically. It was a joy and a privilege to work there. Walking around the grounds, there’s fields and lakes, amazing rock arrangements. It’s just beautiful.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Shania Twain has released her brooding cover of Harry Styles’ ‘Falling’.
The country pop legend became good pals with the ‘As It Was’ hitmaker and they performed her hits ‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman!’ and ‘You’re Still the One’ at Coachella last year, where Harry revealed he grew up listening to her music.
And now, the 57-year-old singer has shared her cover of the track from Harry’s 2019 LP ‘Fine Line’ to Spotify, as part of the streaming giant’s Spotify Sings sessions, and she admitted she can “hear my pain in it”.
In a statement, she said: “I just fell in love with ‘Falling’. I love Harry Styles anyway and his version of the song really moved me and I wanted to try it on. It came out more emotional than I thought it would and I was very pleased – I can kind of hear my pain in it.”
Harry, 29, had said at Coachella before Shania joined him on stage: “In the car, with my mother as a child, this lady taught me to sing. She also told me that men are trash. To you, for the memories you gave me with my mother, I will be forever grateful.”
Shania recently admitted performing at Coachella with Harry was “one of the highlights” of her career.
The ‘I’m Gonna Getcha Good!’ singer told how she first met the ‘Music for a Sushi Restaurant’ singer backstage at one of his concerts and she quickly became friends with the “sweet” star.
She told Today.com: “He was just really on his way up when I first met him.”
Shania admitted she finds it “very rewarding” to have fans of Harry’s generation.
She said: “He’s one of these kids that’s part of the generation that 25, 30 years ago were four, five, six, years old in the audience.
“Now it’s this full-circle moment where they are old enough now to speak for themselves and they can come and see me without the parents and express their admiration for my music and to thank me for the inspiration.
“It’s very rewarding for me to still be doing this and to hear their gratitude in person.”
The ‘From This Moment On’ singer – who released her album ‘Queen of Me’ last month – recently teased that she is planning to work with Harry again in the future.
Asked about the possibility, she said: “Well, not on this album, but in the future, I would say, ‘Yes’. I’m going to hold Harry to that.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Fall Out Boy have treated fans to a first glimpse of a new song featuring Ethan Hawke.
The ‘Sugar We’re Going Down’ hitmakers teased fans at an intimate gig in front of just 500 people at Band on the Wall in Manchester, UK on Wednesday (15.03.23) as they played the intro to the song and revealed how he inspired the direction of their new album.
Bassist Pete Wentz admitted ‘So Much (for) Stardust’ is a record of two halves, with the first darker section taking influence from Hollywood actor-and-filmmaker Ethan before a second half inspired by ‘Field of Dreams’.
Before playing a recording of the instrumental section of ‘The Pink Seashell’, he referenced the band’s recent logo which has a smiley face split into a sad and happy expression.
He said: “If the smiley face is two different sides, then this is the first half of it.”
Fans lucky enough to bag tickets to the small show also got to hear singles ‘Love From The Other Side’ and ‘Heartbreak Feels So Good’, as well as plenty of deep cuts.
Among them was the first performance of ‘Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet’ since 2009, as well as just the second full outing for 2003’s ‘Calm Before The Storm’ – which featured on their debut ‘Take This To Your Grave’ – since 2007.
Starting with ‘Love From The Other Side’, Pete, Patrick Stump, Andy Hurley and touring member Ben Young – who is stepping in for guitarist Joe Trohman as he takes a break to focus on his mental health – also blasted through the likes of ‘Grand Theft Autumn (Where Is Your Boy?)’, ‘Dance, Dance’, ‘Hum Hallelujah’ and ‘This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race’.
Pete took the opportunity to pay tribute to the Manchester music scene, insisting Fall Out Boy wouldn’t have been a band if wasn’t for the groundwork laid by groups from the northern city.
And he noted how special it was being in such a small venue feeling a connection with the fans after having moments during the COVID pandemic where he never wanted to leave his house again.
He also referenced the way some fans wish they had been there for the group’s rise to the top before they became fully-fledged stadium rockers, admitting: “This is what it felt like.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock has been recording songs with one of the masterminds behind Beyonce’s hit ‘Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)’.
The 31-year-old singer has been in LA laying down tracks for her debut solo LP with Warner Records, and she spent some time in the studio working with Kuk Harrell who, along with Terius “The-Dream” Nash and Christopher “Tricky” Stewart, was responsible for writing and producing Queen Bey’s 2008 smash.
Kuk also was responsible for Rihanna’s number one singles ‘Only Girl (In the World)’ and ‘Umbrella’ and has worked with R B legends Mary J. Blige and Usher and ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge Alesha Dixon back in 2008, and is one of the most sought after vocal producers in the world.
Leigh-Anne spilled the collaboration to ger followers on chat room site Discord, posting: “It’s been amazing… I was recording with Kuk Harrell, absolute legend!”
The collaboration hints that Leigh-Anne’s debut album will have an American R B sound as opposed to the pop influences of her former band.
The ‘Touch’ hitmaker has been travelling back and forth from the UK to the US to create her upcoming album, but the singer has been homesick for Britain and has been missing her family, especially her footballer fiancé Andre Gray and their twins.
As she boarded another solo flight, Leigh-Anne posed for a selfie on the plane and told her fans on social media that it “sucked” to be heading off alone.

OHMYGOSSIP — Drake and 21 Savage have announced the ‘It’s All A Blur’ tour.
The hip-hop megastars will embark on the mammoth jaunt in support of their joint LP ‘Her Loss’.
The run kicks off on June 16 in New Orleans and currently wraps in Glendale, Arizona on September 5.
However, more dates are going to be added, including a hometown stop in Toronto for Drake.
General sale tickets go on sale at 12pm local time on Friday (17.03.23).
The tour was teased by Drake when he and Savage performed at the Apollo Theater in New York City for a SiriusXM special in January.
While on stage with his collaborator, he said: “We’re gonna be out on the road this summer.”
The ‘God’s Plan’ hitmaker also teased he might release a new album this year.
He said: “I’ve thought about a bunch of things in life, but at this moment in time none of those things are stopping making music for you, so I’ll be here for you for a little bit at least.
“I hope I can strike up more emotions for you. Maybe this year – I might get bored and make another one. Who knows?”
The tour announcement comes after Drake recently admitted he wants to “gracefully exit” music to make way for the next generation of rappers.
The ‘Rich Flex’ hitmaker has insisted he’s not thinking about retirement anytime soon, but when the time comes to step back, he wants to mentor up-and-coming artists.
Speaking to fellow rapper Lil Yachty, 25, for the first ‘Moody Conversations’ episode on YouTube, Drake said: “Well, I think on a broader scale, I think I’m at the point now where I just wanna — I feel like maybe we talked about this the other day — but I feel like I’m kind of introducing the concept in my mind of a graceful exit.”
The 36-year-old rap superstar continued: “I feel like a lot of people that I’ve watched as the years have gone on, it’s a really addictive competitive space. Oftentimes you’re addicted to the competition itself.”
Reassuring fans that he has no plans to hang up his microphone in the near future, Drake added: “I’m not ready now, but to gracefully continue making projects that are extremely interesting and hopefully cherished by people, and then to find the right time to say, ‘I can’t wait to see what the next generation does.’
“I’ll still be around to work with people or do a show here or there, but I’m not going to force myself to compete.
I would love to just see what the next generation does, whenever that time is. So, I guess that’s the one thing that I want for myself really badly.”
