OHMYGOSSIP — Stormzy will receive the prestigious O2 Silver Clef award next month.
The ‘Vossi Bop’ hitmaker will take home the highest honour at music therapy charity Nordoff and Robbins’ annual O2 Silver Clef Awards ceremony, which will take place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on 30 June, following in the footsteps of previous winners including Sir Paul McCartney, George Michael, David Bowie, Dame Shirley Bassey, The Rolling Stones, Oasis and Coldplay.
In addition, organisers have also announced Wet Leg will receive the New Music Award, Biffy Clyro will be named Best Live Act, Outstanding Achievement will go to Neneh Cherry, Level 42’s Mark King will scoop the Icon accolade and the Classical Award will go to Ayanna Witter-Johnson.
Wet Leg said they are “blushing red as lobsters” at the news they will be picking up the Ticketmaster Best New Music prize.
They said in a statement: “To the hunnies at Nordoff and Robbins, tysm for choosing us for Best new music award!?! We’re blushing red as lobsters.
“We’re so stoked to be supporting Nordoff and Robbins to bring music to those who need it most! Through their work, they provide music therapists to isolated children and adults which allows them to break down barriers whilst making real connections with other people.””
Meanwhile, Biffy Clyro are thrilled with the recognition they’ll receive in the form of the PizzaExpress Live Best Live Act Award because they love being on stage.
They said: “We’re so pleased to receive the Best Live Act Award. Some of our favourite memories have been created on stage and nothing compares to the response from a live audience. Music brings us together in such a unique way– all people – from non-verbal children to older people with dementia can really respond and communicate in the music therapy sessions, which is why Nordoff and Robbins’ work is so incredibly important.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Mae Muller is releasing her debut studio album, ‘Sorry I’m Late’, on September 15.
The 25-year-old singer-songwriter – whose profile was raised as she represented the United Kingdom at the ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ this month – is set to share her “vulnerable side” with the world on her first record.
She said: “I’m really showing a different side of myself on this album – a vulnerable one, one that I haven’t spoken about before.
“I can be strong, sassy, confident, and I can also be sad and have my low moments, but I’m still me… it’s just as empowering to show both sides.”
Mae – who competed with her hit ‘I Wrote A Song’, which made it into the Top 10 of the Official UK Chart following the final in Liverpool on May 13 – is also embarking on a tour in November.
The star’s record label, Capitol Records, is said to have been “throwing everything in” to ensure the singer becomes a success.
An insider recently told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Capitol which also looks after Liam Payne, Sam Smith and Aitch, have made her a priority and are throwing everything in but the kitchen sink to making her a success.”
Mae previously explained the lyrics to her entry track, admitting it is about trying to find the positive after a break-up, instead of seeking revenge.
She said: “After you go through a break-up, a relationship or a friendship, it’s easy to want revenge. I thought how can I turn a negative feeling into a positive.”
Despite her best efforts, Mae placed 25th, with Sweden’s Loreen winning for the second time with ‘Tattoo’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Beyonce’s father “would love” Destiny’s Child to do one more album.
Mathew Knowles is the manager of the ‘Say My Name’ girl group – also comprising Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams – and despite them parting ways in 2006, he’s still hopeful they will record new music for fans.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’ about the chances of them doing another record, Mathew said: “It’s a decision that the ladies would have to make.
“And I would certainly, certainly support that decision as I still manage Destiny’s Child. I would love to see that as well.”
He continued: “I think the fans will be just overjoyed, overwhelmed.
“And hopefully they do one last time in their career. Hopefully they give us one last album. Who knows? You never know. You never say it can’t happen. Because this is entertainment. A lot of things can happen.”
The talent manager knew that the ‘Survivor’ hitmakers would be a success all along.
He explained: “If you don’t believe, who else is gonna believe? So it starts with you have to believe and you have to have the strategy.
“You have to have the talent. You have to have all the work ethics, being a visionary, all those things. There’s a lot of moving parts that bring success. The right record label, the right distribution, the right partners that we had like L’Oréal and Samsung. All those things is what brought about the success along with great songs.”
Although they split in 2006, the trio reunited to perform their hits when Beyonce headlined the 2013 Super Bowl halftime show and the 2018 Coachella Festival.
Their fifth and final album was 2004’s ‘Destiny Fulfilled’.
Last year, Michelle admitted she still thinks about Destiny’s Child getting back together.
The 43-year-old singer remains extremely close to her bandmates Beyonce, 41, and Kelly, 42, and believes that the trio will reunite in the future.
She told the New York Post: “I wonder if it’s on our mind, but it never comes out of our mouths. As naturally as we talk about so many other things, when the time is right, it will naturally come up in conversation somehow. We have fun together when we do decide to work with each other in that capacity. I don’t think either of us is opposed to it. It’s just, what’s the right opportunity? But I will say we haven’t had an official album out together in 17 years and for the questions to be asked now is really kind of awesome. It makes me reflective of the obvious impact that we must have been made on the world.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher has hit out at his arch-nemesis brother Noel Gallagher for having the “audacity” to call him a “coward”.
This week, Noel suggested that he’s open to reforming their former band Oasis – but the 55-year-old guitarist believes his younger brother is too much of a “coward” to pick up the phone and talk to him and called the 50-year-old singer out for being “a little bit disingenuous” to their fans.
Noel told talkSPORT: “I put [a reunion] out there … I mean, he should call me.
“He’s forever going on about it, you’d have thought by now he’d have some kind of plan. And if he’s got a plan he should he should speak to me. He won’t speak to me because he’s a coward.
“But he should get some of his people, his agent, to call my people and say, ‘Look, this is what we’re thinking’ and then we’ll have a conversation about it. Until then, he’s a little bit disingenuous.”
Liam also once again brought up Noel’s former feud with Britpop rivals Damon Albarn and Alex James and how he would never “wish AIDS on people” as he did to the Blur bandmembers.
And he also slammed his sibling for not taking part in the One Love Manchester benefit concert in 2017 for the victims and families of those who lost their lives and were injured in the Manchester Arena bombing at Ariana Grande’s concert.
Reacting on Twitter, Liam fumed: “I don’t wish AIDS on people I turn up and play the MUSIC for the people of MANCHESTER who have just had a terror attack while you sit on your dingy sipping champagne and you got the audacity to call me a COWARD sit down you (bell emoji) end. (sic)”
The ‘Some Might Say’ hitmaker previously took to Twitter to brand Noel a “moron” for wishing that the pair would “catch AIDS and die” at the height of Oasis’ 90s chart battle with Blur.
The rock ‘n’ roll star posted: “Moron = The person who wishes aids on other people Moron = The person who says Scotland is a 3rd world country Moron = The little 1 in Oasis with the big head and naff dress sense as you were LG x (sic)”
Noel insists he is willing to discuss a potential reunion with his brother. But he also argued that unless Liam is serious about getting the band back together, he simply should stop discussing the idea.
He continued: “I’m open to a phone call. Other than that, stop playing with the kids, it’s not fair on the fans.”
Oasis split in 2009 and the Gallagher brothers have subsequently traded insults in public.

OHMYGOSSIP — Bastille’s Dan Smith had songs rejected for the live-action ‘Barbie’ film soundtrack.
The hotly-anticipated movie – which boasts a star-studded cast led by Ryan Gosling (Ken) and Margot Robbie (Barbie) – will feature the song ‘Dance The Night’ by pop star Dua Lipa, who is also playing a mermaid in the flick, and Dan has revealed he penned “a couple” of tunes but they didn’t end up using them.
A fan tweeted him: “Oh also whilst you’re here and talking about films. Any plans to see Barbie or Oppenheimer?”
To which, he replied: “Very excited for both of those. In fact, I wrote a couple of songs for the Barbie film (that they didn’t use), but it looks incredible so does Oppenheimer.”
Last year, Dan revealed he had been working on projects in the “film and TV world”.
The 36-year-old singer found the time to work on his passion projects when the COVID-19 pandemic hit and he couldn’t tour.
After co-directing the band’s ‘The Matrix’ and ‘Ex Machina’-inspired ‘No Bad Days’ promo, the ‘Pompeii’ hitmaker took on a number of roles in film and television.
He told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “There’s a bunch of stuff I’m working on at the moment which use music but very much step into the film and TV world.
“It’s what I grew up obsessed with.
“I was such a little film geek growing up and it’s a medium I love, so getting to direct a video was really amazing.
“I always wanted to do it but we’ve always been trying to juggle everything.
“It took me having a little more time and space because of there being no touring, for me to be like, ‘I’ve got to do this now. I want to do it now.’
“It was really eye-opening.”
Dan said he hopes more opportunities will arise in the future.
He added: “I would love to work more in that world and I think we live in a time when people are less boxed in.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ice Cube says Drake should sue whoever made the AI-generated track ‘Heart On My Sleeve’.
The track by TikTok user Ghostwriter977 used Artificial Intelligence to generate vocals that sounded just like musicians Drake and The Weeknd.
The song became a huge viral hit and reportedly racked up 230,000 plays on YouTube and more than 625,000 on Spotify.
However, it is no longer available on services including Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, and YouTube.
And the 53-year-old rapper insists he would take legal action if anyone made a song with his vocal likeness.
Speaking on the ‘Full Send’ podcast, Ice said of the track: “I don’t wanna hear an AI Drake song. Yeah. I don’t wanna hear that bull****. He should sue whoever made it.”
The ‘Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It’ hitmaker blasted AI songs as “demonic”.
He continued: “Imma sue the motherf**** who made it and the people and the platform who play it.
“It’s like a sample. Somebody can’t take your original voice and manipulate it without having to pay. I think AI is demonic, I think AI is going to get a backlash from organic people.”
Although many artists have voiced their concerns, including Sting and Nick Cave, experimental pop artist Grimes loves it so much, she has created her own AI song generator software, Elf.Tech, and is asking fans to create songs as long as she gets 50 per cent of the royalties.
She tweeted: “You can use Grimes name and likeness (I humbly ask that you please be tasteful tho). Grimes is now open source and self replicating.
“in exchange for a Grimes feat and distribution. (sic)”
Recently, Sting, 71, waded into the ongoing debate regarding the use of AI software to mimic well-known musicians and admitted it’s “going to be a battle” for the music industry.
He told the BBC: “The building blocks of music belong to us, to human beings.
“That’s going to be a battle we all have to fight in the next couple of years: Defending our human capital against AI.
“The tools are useful, but we have to be driving them,” he said. “I don’t think we can allow the machines to just take over. We have to be wary.”

The ‘Someone You Loved’ hitmaker will take to the stage at intimate Leeds venue The Wardrobe on June 6, 2023 and he will be supported by James Marriott.
Tickets will be available via ballot to those who have already purchased a Reading and Leeds festival ticket (day or weekend), with all profits from ticket sales going to charity.

The ‘Forget Me’ singer has just released his second album ‘Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent’ and has recently been honest about his mental health struggles and his diagnosis with Tourette’s syndrome and how those issues have influenced the new songs on his LP.
He told Apple Music’s Rebecca Judd: “I think on this album in particular, I talk a bit more about my mental health, which has taken a beating over the last little while.
“I’m managing it better now but I think in 2020 I was kind of glad when we got put in lockdown because I had done my first arena tour in the UK, and we had just done an Australia and Asia tour before that, and I was in a bad way where I was just having panic attacks every single day on stage and I was just shy.
“I still haven’t quite got there, but it’s interesting that this thing that you love to do and you’ve always wanted to do becomes something that causes you such distress, but such is the modern world.
“I’ll take a few panic attacks and my Tourette’s and stuff for what’s happening, but if it gets to the point where things get worse mentally and I stop kind of looking after myself in that regard, I think that would be a point where I’d be like, ‘I’m just not going to do this anymore.’
“The main reason I got into music was to play live and if I’m struggling to do that ever, I think that’s where I’m in trouble, because otherwise that’s the payoff, that’s the point of doing it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Coral have recruited Cillian Murphy and John Simm for their two upcoming new albums.
‘Sea Of Mirrors’, the British group’s 11th studio album, will drop on September 8th, and the ‘Peaky Blinders’ star has a spoken word part on the record’s closing song ‘Oceans Apart’.
Due to the album’s spaghetti western influence, The Coral initially wanted to enlist actors Frank Nero and Terence Hill on the song, but after being turned down, they turned to Cillian after co-producer Sean O’Hagan revealed he worked on the actor’s first film.
Frontman James Skelly told NME: “Sean was like, ‘Oh I know someone. I did his first film. He might be good – Cillian Murphy.’ and I was like, ‘What? One of the best actors in the world?’
“And then Cillian Murphy just emailed and was like, ‘Ah, yeah I love the band, I’m up for helping you out.’
“Then we just had a conversation about what it was going to be, because we needed help with it. We were speaking about books we liked and films and how you build a character. He went away and thought about the character and tried different things.
“He just sent what he did for the album and said it should be like an old sort of American actor like Bella Lugosi or Buster Keaton. The idea was these massive stars ended up in these B-movies. And they were like, ‘Where is my life?’ That’s the idea, this internal thing of, ‘How did I get here?’ He just nailed it and we put it in the track and put some reverb on it. We were like ‘Nice one Cillian, thanks a lot, you put the cherry on top.’ ”
For the group’s other upcoming album ‘Holy Joe’s Coral Island Medicine Show’ – a spin-off project connected to their 2021 record ‘Coral Island’ – the band enlisted ‘Life on Mars’ star and “early champion of the band” John for a spoken word part on song ‘Drifters Prayer’, after keyboardist Nick Power sent the actor a message.
James added: “He said yeah and he came down, did it, just nailed it perfectly and I was like, ‘Ah that’s what a professional looks like.’ We just hung out for a bit, lovely fella.
“Cillian and John are both great actors. If I was cast in a film I’d be looking at them two. It’s that thing when you work with or you see a true top of the level professional work, you feel privileged and lucky to have even had a little hint of working with that.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Earth, Wind and Fire guitarist and co-vocalist, Sheldon Reynolds, has died aged 63.
The revered musician’s bandmate, Philip Bailey, confirmed the sad news on Wednesday (24.05.23).
The cause of death is not known at this time.
Philip, the legendary R’n’B group’s lead singer, recalled how former frontman Maurice White – who died in 2016 aged 74 – was wowed by Sheldon’s vocals, as he hailed him an “excellent addition” to the group
In a touching tribute, he wrote on Facebook: “This news of Sheldon Reynolds transition is very sad for all of us who knew and worked with him. Sheldon vocally had Reese down. That’s what Maurice said when he hired Sheldon to share vocals and play guitar. Sheldon was an excellent addition to the band, a great writer and producer, and a genuinely kind and loving person. He will be missed. Our condolences to his family.

Sheldon started learning the guitar when he was eight, and by the age of 12 was considered a prodigy.
After studying at The University of Cincinnati, he set his sights on music.
He first toured with the singer Millie Jackson, before joining the R’n’B group Sun, with whom he recorded three albums.
He’s also known for his four-year stint in The Commodores, which began in 1985.
Sheldon sang on their 1985 LP ‘Nightshift’ and played guitar on their 1986 album ‘United’.
Then started his tenure with Earth, Wind and Fire.
He featured on four of their albums, starting with 1987’s ‘Touch The World’, and ending with 1997’s ‘In The Name of Love’.
With his bandmates, Sheldon received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1995.
The Grammy-nominated band also received a nod for Best R’n’B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for their 1993 classic ‘Sunday Morning’.
As a solo performer, Sheldon featured on Maurice’s 1985 self-titled album and Philip’s 1989 LP Family Affair’.
He also appeared on Smokey Robinson’s 1990 LP ‘Love’.
Sheldon was previously married to Janie Hendrix, the adopted sister of guitar icon Jimi Hendrix, between 2001 and 2006.

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Smith ended their Manchester concert after just four songs on Wednesday night (25.05.23).
The ‘Unholy’ singer claimed they were forced to cut the gig at AO Arena short due to vocal issues after battling a virus a few weeks ago.
However, many fans who attended the gig have claimed that their voice sounded “fine”, while another said they sang a song for Tina Turner following the news that the music legend had passed away that day and then the show was pulled.
One gig-goer tweeted: “Tina Turner had died hugged [their] singers sat down sang the song for Tina, then after suddenly went off stage, 15mins later the concert was cancelled. (sic)”
Another wrote: “@samsmith what happened? You were perfectly fine 4 songs in and then you decide to cancel. It’s not good enough. People have spent hundreds on travel/hotels and the tickets and you cancel. There was nothing wrong you sound like you normally do. Why did you cancel?”
In a social media statement, the star explained: “I don’t know what to say honestly. I fought off a virus a few weeks ago and since then we have travelled across Europe and had such incredible shows. Today in sound check I felt fine and was so excited to give Manchester an amazing show tonight with a special surprise at the end.
“During my third song, I noticed something wrong with my voice, I prayed it was just my voice waking up for the show but into the fourth song I could feel something was really wrong.
“I came off the stage and have tried everything to get my voice back in gear but it won’t.
“I am honestly heartbroken I couldn’t finish the show tonight for you all.
“I love you all. I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry x.”
Earlier in the day, Sam had promised a special surprise at the end of the show.
They wrote: “Manchester. We’ve got a special surprise for you this evening.
“Unholy won’t be the last song.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dave Grohl burst into tears while performing ‘My Hero’ in honour of late drummer Taylor Hawkins at Foo Fighters’ first concert with his replacement Josh Freese.
The Grammy-winning rockers kicked off their tour at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion on Wednesday night (24.05.23), where they welcomed their new sticksman to the band and thanked him for “saving” the group following the tragic loss of Taylor – who was found dead in his hotel room in Colombia, in March 2022, aged 50.
Speaking to the crowd, frontman Dave, 54, said: “Would you please welcome the man behind the drums Josh Freese, who has helped save the band.
“We would not be here tonight if it weren’t for Josh, so everybody give Josh a big f***ing round of applause please.”
During the emotional performance of ‘My Hero’, a hawk lit up the stage in Taylor’s memory, and Dave struggled to hold back the tears.
Later in the show, Dave’s daughter Violet, 17, joined the group to perform ‘Shame Shame’ from their 2021 LP ‘Medicine At Midnight’.
Before their first proper concert, Josh was unveiled as their new drummer at their ‘Foo Fighters: Preparing Music For Concerts’ livestream on Sunday (21.05.23).
Josh is known for playing for the likes of Guns N’ Roses, Nine Inch Nails and Paramore.
He was among several drummers to pay tribute to Taylor at a pair of tribute concerts in Los Angeles and London.
The Foos have dedicated their upcoming album to Taylor, and Dave’s late mother Virginia Hanlon Grohl.
The ‘Walk’ rockers will release ‘But Here We Are’ on June 2, and they’ve shared that the record is in honour of their beloved bandmate, and the frontman’s parent, who passed away the same year.
Sharing the minimalist white cassette and album cover for the LP, which is designed by Morning Breath INC, the Grammy winning-group tweeted the album dedication: “For Virginia and Taylor.”
The follow-up to 2021’s ‘Medicine at Midnight’ is described as: “A brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters endured over the last year.”
In a letter to fans, the ‘Best of You’ hitmakers vowed to be “a different band going forward” following the devastating loss of Taylor.
They wrote: “As we say goodbye to the most difficult and tragic year that our band has ever known, we are reminded of how thankful we are for the people that we love and cherish most, and for the loved ones who are no longer with us.
“Foo Fighters were formed 27 years ago to represent the healing power of music and a continuation of life. And for the past 27 years our fans have built a worldwide community, a devoted support system that has helped us all get through the darkest of times together. A place to share our joy and our pain, our hopes and fears, and to join in a chorus of life together through music. Without Taylor, we never would have become the band that we were — and without Taylor, we know that we’re going to be a different band going forward.
“We also know that you, the fans, meant as much to Taylor as he meant to you and we know that when we see you again — and we will soon — he’ll be there in spirit with all of us every night.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Guns N’ Roses have added more names to their American Express presents BST Hyde Park show.
The ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ rockers previously confirmed The Pretenders, The Darkness and Larkin Poe will join them at the London concert on June 30.
And now they’ve added Dirty Honey, James and the Cold Gun, The Dust Coda, Grade 2, Bad Nerves, and The Foxies.
The new additions come after Pink announced more support acts for her two dates at Hyde Park.
The UK’s 2022 Eurovision runner-up, Sam Ryder, Sam Thompkins, GAYLE, Maddie Zahm, Mae Stephens and Will Linley will join the ‘Never Gonna Not Dance Again’ hitmaker and pop legend Gwen Stefani at the park on Saturday, June 24.
On night two, on Sunday, June 25, US mega-star Tinashe, Lyra, Valencia Grace, Nell Mescal, Beren Olivia, and Maddie Zahm will play.
Lana Del Rey was revealed as the final headliner of the annual summer concert series on July 9.
The show gives UK fans of the US star another chance to catch the pop star live after her headline set on Glastonbury’s Other Stage in June.
Other artists headlining BST this year include Take That (July 1), BLACKPINK (July 2), Billy Joel (July 7) and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band (July 6 and 8).
The summertime event was launched by The Rolling Stones in 2013 when they recreated their 1969 gig.

OHMYGOSSIP — Offset needed to “master who I was” before releasing his new solo album.
The 31-year-old rapper was a member of the popular trap trio Migos until he parted ways with the group early last year, with Quavo, 32, and the late Takeoff continuing as a two-piece until the tragic death of the latter, who was shot dead in Houston, Texas on November 1, 2022, aged 28.
In February this year, Quavo shared a music video for the tribute song ‘Greatness’, in which he confirmed that Migos were over.
Offset has opened up in a new cover Interview with Variety about his plans as a solo artist, including his follow-up 2019’s ‘Father of 4’, but admitted he had to do some soul-searching before he shares it with the world.
He said: “This is me going full-fledged into my solo career. The objective is to do it fully and smash s*** and f*** the game up as a solo artist. It’s all set, my next chapter. It’s my time.”
Offset – who has Kulture, four, and 20-month-old Wave with fellow rap star Cardi B – added: “Sometimes you gotta sit back and not rush.
“I really wanted to drop the album like two years ago, but it wasn’t time. I had to master who I was, and I got it now.”
A Capitol spokesperson told the publication: “Offset has made a phenomenal album; we can’t wait until the world hears his masterpiece.
“We’re deep into release planning now and will soon have big news to share!”
Offset was asked about Takeoff – who was like family to him – but had to walk away from the interview for the night because he was overcome with grief.
The only way Offset can get through is by pretending that his death was “fake”.
He said: “It’s hard for me to talk about s*** right now. I’ve never talked about this stuff. Seriously. Talking about Take is hard, man. Talking about all this s*** is hard. That’s why I don’t, to be honest. That s*** hurts. Like, it’s gonna put me in a mood, and I don’t want to get in that mood. Some things I don’t never tell nobody. He’s not here. That s*** feels fake, bro. I get through my day thinking it’s fake. And I don’t say nothing to nobody about it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Heidi Range has hinted at making a solo comeback.
The former Sugababes member – who was with the girl group from 2001 to 2011 – feels like she’s on the verge of a new chapter in her life after just turning 40, and she wants to remember who she was when she was a pop star and would love to show her two young daughters what their mummy can do.
Speaking on Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s ‘Spinning Plates’ podcast, Heidi – who has Aurelia, five, and 21-month-old Athena, with husband Alex Partakis – said: “I feel like I’m just getting to a new stage where I’m ready to remember who I was.
“When I go to shows, you kind of want to grab the mic and have a go.
“There’s a part of me that would love to show her what mummy can do.
“I’d like to do stuff where they can see me do things now that would inspire them and make them proud as they get older.”
Mutya Buena and Keisha Buchanan reunited with Siobhan Donaghy – who Heidi took over from after a stint in Atomic Kitten – in 2019 when they regained the rights to the band’s name and released a new version of ‘Flowers’ with DJ Spoony.
And Heidi insists she has “happy” for them to continue the group’s legacy.
She commented: “I’m happy for them.
“It’s nice that the songs are still out there.
“I am proud that I was part of the success of the songs.
“I wish them well.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Smith has cancelled the rest of their ‘Gloria’ UK tour as they have suffered a “vocal cord injury”.
The ‘Stay With Me’ singer ended their Manchester concert after just four songs on Wednesday night (25.05.23) due to “vocal issues”.
The ‘Unholy’ singer claimed they were forced to cut the gig at the AO Arena short due to not being able to sing after battling a virus a few weeks ago.
And now, Sam has pulled their rescheduled shows in Birmingham and Glasgow, as doctors warned the Grammy winner that they could risk causing “permanent damage” to their voice, with full refunds offered.
A social media statement read: “Due to vocal issues during last night’s Manchester performance, regrettably we will be cancelling the rescheduled Birmingham and Glasgow Sam Smith shows.
“Doctors have advised due to a vocal cord injury, Sam must have complete vocal rest.
“Sam is heartbroken to have had to cancel these shows but they have been told by doctors that if they keep singing, they will do permanent damage to their voice.
“If they take some rest they will be able to perform again.”
Apologising for the abrupt end to their Manchester show, Sam wrote: “I don’t know what to say honestly. I fought off a virus a few weeks ago and since then we have travelled across Europe and had such incredible shows. Today in sound check I felt fine and was so excited to give Manchester an amazing show tonight with a special surprise at the end.
“During my third song, I noticed something wrong with my voice, I prayed it was just my voice waking up for the show but into the fourth song I could feel something was really wrong.
“I came off the stage and have tried everything to get my voice back in gear but it won’t.
“I am honestly heartbroken I couldn’t finish the show tonight for you all.
“I love you all. I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry x.”
Earlier in the day, Sam had promised a special surprise at the end of the show.
They wrote: “Manchester. We’ve got a special surprise for you this evening.
“Unholy won’t be the last song.”
