Cara Delevingne ‘didn’t know much about fashion’ before working with Karl Lagerfeld

OHMYGOSSIP — Karl Lagerfeld helped Cara Delevingne to appreciate how “interesting fashion is”.
The 30-year-old model admits she “didn’t really know that much about fashion” before she started working with the legendary designer, who died in February 2019, aged 85.
Cara shared: “I didn’t really know that much about fashion before I started. I never really gave it that much credit. He taught me so much more about fashion in terms of its possibilities.”
Cara has also praised Lagerfeld for giving her the confidence and space that she needed to grow within the fashion industry.
The London-born star – who won the Model of the Year gong at the British Fashion Awards in 2012 and 2014 – said: “He really influenced me so much.
“He never told me to do anything specifically, but he allowed me the space to grow, and he would treat me like a friend … He was so human with me and it made me feel so much more comfortable in myself.”
The catwalk star has become much more thoughtful about fashion since she worked with the acclaimed designer.
She told WWD.com: “I don’t think that people should be judged by what they wear, but when you ask people why they wear what they wear, it’s a very interesting story. And even if they don’t care about what they’re wearing, that’s also interesting, too.”
Cara has also become much more hands-on with her work over recent years.
She said: “It was very important for me to see samples, to be involved as much as possible.”

Heidi Klum ‘had the best time’ with Victoria’s Secret

OHMYGOSSIP — Heidi Klum had “the best time ever” with Victoria’s Secret.
The 49-year-old model worked for the lingerie brand for years and she recently declined the opportunity to appear in Hulu’s ‘Victoria’s Secret: Angels and Demons’, which claims to expose the underworld of the fashion industry.
Heidi told the ‘Just for Variety’ podcast: “They asked me if I wanted to be part of it. And I was like, ‘If you’re looking for a negative story, you’re barking up the wrong tree because I had the most wonderful time there.'”
Heidi loved her time with the lingerie company, and she’s been shocked by some of the allegations that have been made in the series.
She said: “Hearing all these stories pop up to me is mind-blowing when they accuse different people of different things, and I’m like, ‘My gosh, did this really happen?’ I don’t know. So I was always waiting to get more insight, but … it never came. So I never continued watching it.”
Heidi has enjoyed great success in the fashion industry.
But the blonde beauty – who has Leni, 18, Henry, 16, Johan, 15, and Lou, 12 – acknowledges that she’s not a conventional catwalk star.
She explained: “I always had boobs and childbearing hips is what they would say, which yes, they were right. I have birthed four children, so they came in handy after all. But it was fine though, because it made me find a different route for myself. That didn’t change my passion for fashion. I still wanted to be part of the industry.
“So I just found my spot in it and I just went more the commercial route and I loved it.”

Edward Enninful felt inspired in his mother’s atelier

OHMYGOSSIP — Edward Enninful developed his passion for fashion in his mother’s atelier.
The 50-year-old designer felt inspired by his mother’s work as a seamstress, and he’s taken those lessons into his professional life.
In ‘A Visible Man’ – an excerpt of which has been published by Vogue – Edward explains: “Her workshop was where I discovered how fashion really works. My mother was discreet with her clients, quiet and shy. She’d show them fabrics and take their measurements and together they’d decide on an idea.
“When her clients came in for their fittings, or when she’d go to their homes, I’d be there, just as silent and serious, to help my mother zip them in. I learned how to fasten a hook and eye without pawing someone and how clothing works technically on a woman’s body.
“I saw from my mother’s example how to talk to women about clothes and work with them to come to new ideas. I learned to recognise the expression on a woman’s face when she turns to look at herself in a new dress and finds what she sees really beautiful. And also how she knows when it’s not quite right.”
Edward – who was born in Ghana, before he moved to London as a child – admits that the experience helped to ignite his imagination and his passion for fashion.
The designer wrote: “I was transported by the whole experience of the workshop: the colours, the fabrics, the loving attention of my mother and her staff. It lit up my imagination. I’d sit under my mother’s cutting table, surrounded by scraps of wax fabric, and fill my own notebooks with ladies in elaborate dresses like she did.”

Emma Chamberlain likes to opt for ‘classic’ styles

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Chamberlain likes to opt for “classic” styles.
The Vogue Australia cover girl prefers to opt for outfits that she won’t “cringe at later”.
The 21-year-old social media personality told I-D: “At this point in my life, I’m trying to stick to things that are classic that I’m never going to cringe at later. So you know, mixing and matching, just different classic silhouettes and pieces and having fun with it. I also don’t really follow the rules. I’m kind of open to whatever. Like, if it feels right, it feels right. I don’t really put myself in any box. I think the underlying theme of everything I’m wearing — and I think everyone should look at clothes like this — the underlying theme will always be you. And like, that’s what makes an outfit cool. Anything can be your style, if you wear it with confidence, and if you wear it, like, with your heart.”
Emma believes her style journey evolved as she has been “figuring out” who she is as a person.
She continued: “My appreciation for fashion has really blossomed even more from those experiences, but I feel like the main changes that have happened have been just a part of growing up and figuring out who I am in general. I’m not somebody who’s wearing designers every day. I mean, I love a bag. Like a bag? I’m here for it. Everything else, I like to be a little bit more scrappy. I’m not picky about where my clothes are from. I’m picky about what it looks like as a unit. My style’s definitely changed, but also so have I, so who knows.”
The Chamberlain Coffee founder admitted that her “worst outfit” was what she sported to the Streamy Awards four years ago; a white top, plaid trousers and a pair of Gucci boots.
Emma said: “My worst outfit? I would say what I wore to the Streamy Awards in 2018. I literally never want to look at that outfit again. It’s the most foul. I don’t even know how that happened. It was like these ugly plaid pants; they just were so ill-fitted, like they did not fit right, with like a f****** Gucci belt. Like, lord help me. It just was weird. It was 2018, I didn’t know who I was. With these Gucci boots, it was just not… I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with Gucci. Okay, that’s not what I’m saying, I love Gucci.”

Ariana Grande shared her eyeliner method on TikTok

OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana Grande shared her “eyeliner technique”.
The ‘Wicked’ star gave insight into how she does her iconic flick using her r.e.m Beauty liner – the cosmetics range she debuted in November 2021 – for the British department store, Selfridges.
In a TikTok video posted on Friday (19.08.22), the 29-year-old pop star said: “Ello… I’ve been asked to demonstrate my eyeliner technique,” displaying her best interpretation of an English accent and explaining why she opted for a fresh new twang.
Ariana said: “They also told me that it might be nice if I did an accent while I made this video.”
“It’s written here: Selfridges would like her to maybe use a cheeky British element i.e. accent, tea, etc. So here I am, butchering this accent. I’m so sorry.”
The ‘Side to Side’ hitmaker confessed she didn’t “know” if she was any “good” at applying kohl but didn’t rescind on her promise to showcase her approach.
Ariana said: “I don’t know if it’s a good technique – I didn’t promise that – but I said that I’d do it,” before requesting users to “duet – I think that’s what the children call it.”
Ariana finally got the delivering the goods, declaring that she was “wing it and go”.
She said: “I know I’m not supposed to yank, I won’t. Just for now…I’m just gonna wing it and go,” before performing a near perfect wing across her lash line.
Ariana said: “B***** hell, I’ve done it! It’s perfect. Oh my God,” however it got a little less than perfect as she ventured to do her waterline.
She said: “I’m going to go inside here a little,” before applying it off-camera, before saying: “F***, I’ve got it all over me.”
The ‘Problems’ hitmaker faced the evergreen and very relatable problem of having to match up the “other side”.
Ariana said: “Right, time to do the other side. Wish me luck, poppets,” which despite looking good, didn’t impress the former Nickelodeon star.
Ariana said: “Woahh. Different vibe on this side. Hey buckle up… Yeah, we’re going somewhere else here. This one’s going to a different place.”
Ariana quipped: “It went well once.”
The singing sensation addressed her lack of wedding ring and denied any chance of “a divorce” between her and her husband, Dalton Gomez, 27.
Ariana told viewers: “I’m just not wearing my ring, it’s getting cleaned, I’m not getting a divorce, so before you start, don’t.”

Kendall Jenner loves Skims sleepwear

OHMYGOSSIP — Kendall Jenner loves Skims pyjamas.
The Chanel model admitted that her top choice for sleepwear were the ones made by her big sister, Kim Kardashian, 41.
After being asked “What are your favourite pyjamas”, the 26-year-old model told British Vogue: “Skims PJs of course!”
Kendall also divulged that she does “basic skin care” every night and opts for “extra products” on other nights.
She said: “Basic skincare routine and MOON Oral beauty routine are every night. Some nights I take my skincare a step further with extra products, serums and cleansers. I prefer to use gentle products on my face like the Clean Natural Facial Cleanser from my dermatologist, Christie Kidd. For serum I always use SkinCeuticals Vitamin C E Ferulic.”
Kendall also provided some insight into how she manages her anxiety – which she opened up about last year – before hitting the hay.
She said: “I usually drink tea and relax by reading a book or writing in my journal.”
Kendall also added: “I have struggled with anxiety for years and it can have good and bad days. If I need to wind down, I really make a point to take 15 minutes to meditate to settle my anxiety so I can get a good night’s rest.”
the Balmain model tends to set an alarm even if she doesn’t have to work but sometimes she will “change it up” to have a little lie-in.
Kendall said: “I usually have work every day, so alarm! I also love getting up early to ride my horse, so most of the time I set an alarm. But every so often, I love to change it up and just sleep in a little bit. I set my morning alarms on my phone while I’m at home and travelling for work.”

Lewis Hamilton does cryotherapy

OHMYGOSSIP — Lewis Hamilton does cryotherapy.
The ‘Formula 1’ world champion swears by an extensive “self care” regime to keep himself in tip-top shape and be able to recover between Grand Prixs.
The 37-year-old race car driver told GQ: “Recovery has been a real focus for me in the past couple of years. Now, I always make sure the day after a race is a complete day off – I make sure it’s a day to myself for self care. I do cryotherapy, I might do some pool work and I make sure I get physio or acupuncture that day, or just a steam room. Also, when I was younger I honestly didn’t stretch before or after I got in the car. I wasn’t equipped with the knowledge that it’s a good way to loosen yourself up so stretching is super important to me now.”
Lewis also learned a “huge” lesson of the importance of maintaining good cleanliness due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic to ensure his well-being and happiness.
He said: “A huge thing in our team has been hygiene. The pandemic kind of provided this educational process that perhaps we didn’t grow up where we’ve learned about the importance of sanitising surface areas so you’re not picking up things. The amount of times we touch our face in the day, it’s crazy, like thousands of times so that’s something I would say I’ve learned a lot more about, and read about how to properly wash your hands. People do it quickly but actually taking the time to scrub your hands is still so important. A big focus for me is trying to stay healthy, 365 days of the year and to be happy.”

Only Murders in the Building is a show about coats instead of murder, say its costume designer

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Only Murders in the Building’ is a show about coats instead of murder, say its costume designer.
Dana Covarrubias – who was nominated for a Emmy for her work on the Hulu series about amateur detectives living a posh Manhattan apartment building starring Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez last month – thinks outerwear became the main feature of the show after the many coats sported by Selena sparked a topic of discussion between Conan O’Brien and ‘Succession’ star Kieran Culkin on the podcast, ‘Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend’.
She told Cosmopolitan magazine: “That’s really a hilarious story. Conan O’Brien has a podcast and a bunch of friends of mine texted me and they were like, Hey, Conan O’Brien is interviewing Kieran Culkin on his podcast and they’re talking about your costume designs. They very sweetly were talking about how much they love all the costumes. They made a joke about how Mabel changes her coat every scene. I usually try to keep things somewhat realistic as far as people not changing or not changing a ton. But when they said that I was like, ‘This is now a show about coats. This is not a show about murder anymore’.”
Dana thought it was important for the show’s sophomore season to honour her and Selena’s Mexican heritage and “sustainability” so opted for a lot of used items.
After being asked if she sought to show off “specific designers”, she said: Yes, for sure. For season two I did shop a bunch of different designers that were all Mexican because I’m half Mexican and Selena’s half Mexican, so I wanted to get some Mexican designers in there. I definitely also think about sustainability of the clothing industry and I try my hardest to shop secondhand.”

Darren Barnett says the new Victoria’s Secret Pink gender neutral line reflected his ‘own style’

OHMYGOSSIP — Darren Barnet says the new Victoria’s Secret Pink gender neutral line reflected his “own style”.
The ‘Never Have I Ever’ star wears the garments “all the time” after being named an ambassador for the brand, which recently attempted to overhaul its image after a series of sexual assault and harassment allegations
The 31-year-old actor told WWD: “Honestly, I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed the line itself. It really is stuff that I wear all the time; it’s stuff that’s very comparable to stuff that I’ve worn in my own style and my own collection. I wear it around the house. I have worn it, literally, on a [red] carpet before and taken pictures with it. I just did a photoshoot in a magazine with it. I’ve traveled with it; I wear it on the plane.”
Darren called judging the The ‘Pink With Purpose Project’ – a prize which gives $25,000 to ten young people looking to enrich their local communities with projects and causes- “a really fulfilling experience”.
He said: “The Pink With Purpose Project was a really fulfilling experience for me. Seeing the genuine smiles and joy on the girls’ faces when they won this grant to fuel a project that they found to be, you know, going with all the Pink guidelines of inclusivity and community, was really rewarding for me.”
After their foray into a more progressive image – through efforts such as casting models with disabilities, transgender models and so on – the brand asser they “make no excuse for their past”, which included their former CEO Les Wexner being linked to billionaire convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein, who posed a recruiter for the brand to get to know young women.
After the singer Jax released the single, ‘Victoria’s Secret’ about the poor body image the old branding left with her, Amy Hauk, the CEO of Pink posted a letter on Instagram that read: “We make no excuse for the past. And we are committed to regaining your trust. Our transformation is a journey and every day we are working hard to advocate for all women.”

Predatory modelling agency tried to force Linda Evangelista to pose for nudes

OHMYGOSSIP — Linda Evangelista was the victim of a predatory modelling agency when she was a teenager.
The 57-year-old supermodel was just 16 when she was offered a modelling contract for the summer by a Japanese agency but they tried to force her into taking nude pictures and she quickly left.
Linda told the September issue of British Vogue: “I arrived, and there wasn’t anyone to collect me. I was so lost and obviously I didn’t have a cell phone. I went to the agency and it was all, ‘take your clothes off, we need your measurements’, but they already had my measurements. They wanted me naked and it wasn’t a ‘would you do nudes’ conversation, it was a ‘you will do nudes’. I left and called my mother and she said, ‘Get out now and get to the embassy.’ So that’s what I did, and they got me home.”
Linda’s career took off in 1990 and she became one of the most famous supermodels in the world, racking up over 60 magazine covers.
The fashionista admitted that she didn’t always take care of herself as she tried to keep up with the hectic lifestyle but she says she never took drugs as she was “terrified” of them.
She said: “How did I keep going? This is the truth: I was young. You could go out and eat salty fried food and drink Champagne, sleep at 3am and be up again at 5am. Drugs were offered to me, but I never touched them, I’m not saying I was an angel…but I was terrified of drugs.”
And Linda quickly discovered how to stand up for herself, when it came to being paid.
She said: “I had the power of being able to hold out. That’s all it came down to. But also, I was thinking about different industries. Athletes aren’t all paid the same – some are paid more for what they bring to the game. It wasn’t a matter of thinking I was better… but I knew my worth.”
The September issue of British Vogue is available via digital download and on newsstands from Tuesday 23rd August. Read the full article at https://www.vogue.co.uk/fashion/article/linda-evangelista-british-vogue-interview

Kyle Richards’ beauty secret

OHMYGOSSIP — Kyle Richards’ beauty secret is cryo sticks.
The ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star admitted she became obsessed with the product – which are designed to help soothe and calm reactive and sensitive skins – after a facialist used cryo sticks on her.
Speaking in an Amazon Live video, she said: “The facialist said to me, ‘You know, we’re going to use these cryo sticks on your face,’ and she pulled them out of the refrigerator, and oh my god, it took my facial to another level.
“So, you’re supposed to put them in the freezer, so what I do is I put them in the freezer and then I move them to [the skincare fridge]. I use them — you don’t understand, guys. They feel like a miracle.
“Any puffiness or swelling that I had – completely gone. I cannot tell you how good this feels, guys. I cannot believe I lived without these before.”
Meanwhile, Kyle previously revealed one of the keys to her youthful looks is that she dyes her hair every 10 days.
She said: “As someone who is constantly battling my roots, I swear by the Madison Reed Radiant Hair Kit because it leaves my hair shiny, soft and looking gorgeous, and is made with ingredients I can feel good about. Since I have to dye my hair almost every 10 days, their subscription service means I never run out for those last-minute touch-ups.”

Jameela Jamil’s workout snacks

OHMYGOSSIP — Jameela Jamil’s trainer keeps snacks around when the actress is exercising.
Jameela’s longtime personal trainer Al Jackson revealed the ‘She-Hulk: Attorney At Law’ star “hates exercise” so he does everything he can to make it more enjoyable for her.
He told Shape magazine: “Jameela isn’t shy in letting it be known she generally hates exercise. We make sure to have tiny bites on hand to sweeten the deal during tough workouts, without feeling uncomfortable. Many [people] don’t feel great eating while training, but it works for her.”
Music also helps Jameela, 36, to stay motivated, with Al explaining: “We both love cheesy, feel-good music and we love a boogie. The feel-good effect of working out was also a very important factor for us both. The mental health benefits of exercise are often underrated!”
Jameela – who plays Titania in the upcoming Marvel series – suffers from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), a disorder that affects connective tissues in the body, so high-impact exercises are not ideal for her.
Al said: “I wanted to include exercises that helped strengthen and support her hypermobility.
“We found that pad work kicks and punches were something she actually enjoyed working on, which is handy when you’re training to be a Marvel villain.
“It was a great experience to help someone who describes herself as clumsy achieve such an incredible change. She is now undeniably convincing in her role as a supervillain, even with her health challenges.”

Aitch doesn’t ‘really care about people seeing’ his outfit

OHMYGOSSIP — Aitch doesn’t “really care about people seeing” his outfit.
The ‘Straight Rhymez’ hitmaker – real name Harrison Armstrong -quit Instagram temporarily after he realised he wasn’t interested in showing off his latest grams on the timeline.
The 22-year-old rapper told GQ: “I don’t really care about people seeing my outfit. I don’t really care about anyone else’s outfit. I feel like that’s the top and bottom of Instagram.”
He added: “My screen time was high.”
Aitch detailed his complex relationship with manifestation – the idea if you can visualise something you will get it – saying it all “depends”.
“I think good things come to those who work hard and believe they can do it. But it depends what you mean by manifestation, because some people feel they can just sit there and do n’owt, hoping that one day something will happen, and you can’t do that.”
The ‘War’ hitmaker was inspired to get into rapping after watching ‘Scary Movie’, the 2000 spoof of Wes Craven’s ‘Scream’, directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans.
“There’s a scene in ‘Scary Movie’ where Scream [Ghostface] is rapping and me and my mates found it hilarious, so we’d send them to each other over Snapchat, just remixing what Scream says.
“People would send me two lines and I just couldn’t stop writing and that’s when I thought, wow, I can do this.”
After picking up his talent for writing rhymes, Aitch got a further kickstart into the industry after his mate posted a video him that “gassed” the aspiring rapper up to do better.
He said: “Just this s*** iPhone-quality video of me stood outside the church rapping. That got like, 10K views, which gassed me up to try and aim for 20K, which we did with the next one. And then we just carried on and carried on.”

Joe Jonas wants to reduce the stigma around men’s grooming

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Jonas wants to reduce the stigma around men’s grooming, with his new partnership with Xeomin.
The 33-year-old singer was recently named the celebrity brand partner for Xeomin – the FDA-approved antiwrinkle injection – and Joe hopes that it will encourage other men to look after their skin and be open about their own treatments.
He told WWD: “It’s something people obviously do and maybe they shy away from talking about it. It’s everyone’s choice if they don’t want to speak on it and that’s totally fine, but I think it doesn’t need to be something that has to be a secret. I hope to encourage people to feel like it’s not a big deal for them, meaning they don’t need to be nervous about speaking about how they take care of their body.”
Joe also explained that he got involved with the company because after recently turning 33, he decided that it was time to start taking better care of his skin.
He said: “I’m getting older, seeing more frown lines, so [Xeomin] was an option that I thought was really intriguing and I loved the result — I felt like it wasn’t overwhelming. It’s nice to be able to speak about this skin care option. I wanted to understand more about it and learn more about the ingredients.”
