Zoe Kravitz admires transformative power of make-up

OHMYGOSSIP — Zoe Kravitz thinks make-up is “powerful”.
The ‘Big Little Lies’ actress admitted her costumes and cosmetics play a big part in helping her get into character and she’s fascinated by the way her appearance can even make her “walk and talk differently”.
Asked if make-up and costume help her at work, she said: “They have a big impact on the way I feel. Often, when I’m playing a character, I see that it really comes together when I find out what she’ll be wearing and I try out the clothes, with hair and make-up.
“At that point I no longer look like me, and it’s very interesting to see what happens… You start to walk and talk differently. That’s what’s so powerful about make-up. You put on lipstick, and all of a sudden you start swinging your hips differently.
“It proves that we – human beings – are greatly affected by how we look. It’s amazing to see the extent to which we’re influenced by our appearance.”
Zoe was particularly happy with the beauty look she sported as Catwoman in ‘The Batman’ because she thinks it perfectly encapsulated the “rough and messy” side to the character, as well as being “sublime and modern”.
She told Numero magazine: “I like my make-up in ‘The Batman’, which was designed by make-up artist Pat McGrath. She’s incredible, and I feel very lucky that she came on set to design these looks for me and the other actors.
“She created something sublime and modern, but also rough and messy that symbolises the different facets of the personality of Selina Kyle, alias Catwoman, who I was playing.”
The 34-year-old actress is the face of Black Opium Le Parfum and she’s proud to be associated with such a “sexy, mischievous scent”.
She said: “It’s a really great fragrance because it’s complex, mixing soft vanilla notes, which for a lot of people are very feminine, with more woody scents that are deep and rich like a shot of coffee.
“They’re not masculine exactly, but they help create an ensemble that’s both sumptuous and subtle.
“It’s a very Yves Saint Laurent perfume because the brand is strongly focused on creating a balance between women’s different facets. It’s a very sexy, mischievous scent.
“And I must say I adore the ad campaigns, which are both fun and beautiful. They’re all about adventure, nightlife and independence.”

Gwyneth Paltrow dons eye masks in meetings

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwyneth Paltrow takes meetings while wearing eye masks.
The ‘Iron Man’ actress was pressed on the best time to use the GOOPGENES Lift + Depuff Eye Masks and admitted she just sticks them on under her eyes and carries out her regular business, reagrdless of who else is around.
In an ‘Ask me anything’ box on her Instagram Story, a fan queried: “When are you supposed to use the new goop eye masks?”
Gwyneth replied: “You can use the masks as part of an everyday routine, and also anytime you need an instant pick-me-up – I use them in the morning while drinking my coffee, during meetings (SORRY NOT SORRY), or before a party.(sic)”
The Goop founder accompanied her reply with a video of herself at her desk, with the eye masks visible on her skin throughout the clip.
The 49-year-old actress recently praised the virtues of another Goop product, the GOOPGLOW Cloudberry Exfoliating Jelly Cleanser.
She excitedly wrote on Instagram earlier this month: “IT’S FINALLY HERE. Our Cloudberry Exfoliating Jelly Cleanser dropped on @goop today. If you know me, you know I love a good exfoliator, which is why I am so excited to introduce this new addition to the GOOPGLOW family. It’s this amazing soft jelly, and as it cleanses, it really amps up your glow.”
Gwyneth outlined the desires that pushed her to create her “everyday” must-have beauty regime addition – which includes omega-3s, omega-6s, Vitamin C and Vitamin E – while boasting about the “fantastic” impact it was having on her face.
The Academy Award winner continued: “I wanted something that supports the results we get from major exfoliating treatments, but is gentle enough to use everyday. The results are pretty fantastic—it makes a real difference in how my skin looks and feels day-to-day. I can’t wait for you all to try it.”

Alexa Chung thinks Americans have ‘glamorous’ hair – but Brits don’t

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexa Chung doesn’t think British women have hair as “glamorous” as their American counterparts.
The ‘Next In Fashion’ star believes ladies in the UK favour “low-key” styles for their locks, whereas those in the US love to sport “luscious” manes.
She said: “One thing for sure is our hair isn’t as glamorous as in the States. I call it ‘American hair’. Everyone’s got thick, luscious, gorgeous hair, whereas ours is a bit more low-key.
“I think the Kate Moss bedhead look that was established in the ’90s went a long way.”
While Alexa can see distinct differences with hair, she thinks beauty looks have become more “globalised” now.
She told WhoWhatWear: “I think nowadays as everything has just become so much more globalized, it’s harder to identify looks that belong to a nationality.
“I see girls in London who have really thick fake lashes. I see girls in London who have a really minimalist approach which might be more affiliated with French women.
“I see people being really playful, kind of like the club kids of New York. These are all represented in London.
“At fashion parties, I think it’s skin that looks healthy but hasn’t been caked. It depends on what kind of gal we’re talking about.
“There are still hipsters of 22 running the streets with neon and glitter and stickers on their faces, but then there are older women maybe in the professional space who have a cleaner, more subtle look.”
The 39-year-old presenter carefully puts her make-up on in the mornings – but then never bothers to reapply the products throughout the day.
She said: “I am strictly a morning make-up person…
“I have a friend who I really admire, and she’s so beautiful. She has perfect lipstick on all the time, and she also always has her compact out, and she’s reapplying it at the dinner table. It makes me want to put makeup on. I’m like, ‘Wow, that looks really elegant and cool,’ but I’m not that girl. Once it’s worn off, it’s gone.”

Kaia Gerber finds it odd to be a style icon

OHMYGOSSIP — Kaia Gerber finds it odd that “people care” about her outfits.
The Marc Jacobs model – who is the daughter of iconic 90s supermodel Cindy Crawford, 56 and Rande Gerber, 60 – grew up with no one caring about being considered stylish when she lived on the California coast where shoes seemed to be optional in the classroom.
The 21-year-old model told Elle magazine: “I remember the first time being like, ‘Oh, people care what I’m wearing.’ That wasn’t how I felt growing up. In Malibu, people didn’t wear shoes to school.”
Kaia – who has an older brother Presley, 23 – admitted she she has ‘nepo baby’ “privilege” working in the modelling industry due to her mother but finds its less applicable in the film industry as people don’t want to dilute their “vision” for her family lineage.
She said: “I won’t deny the privilege that I have. Even if it’s just the fact that I have a really great source of information and someone to give me great advice, that alone I feel very fortunate for. My mom always joked, “If I could call and book a Chanel campaign, it would be for me and not you.” But I also have met amazing people through my mom whom I now get to work with.
“With acting, it’s so different. No artist is going to sacrifice their vision for someone’s kid. That just isn’t how art is made, and what I’m interested in is art. Also, no one wants to work with someone who’s annoying, and not easy to work with, and not kind. Yes, nepotism is prevalent, but I think if it actually was what people make it out to be, we’d see even more of it.”
Kaia – an avid reader – named Patti Smith and Joan Didion as the writing heroes she would love to play in a movie.
She said: “Patti Smith, with Just Kids, fully changed my life. And Joan Didion. I’ve read everything she’s ever written. I watched her documentary a million times. She has this quote that really resonated with me, about wanting to know where the pain is. I found that—not running away from your feelings—through her.”

Nikki Bella reveals story behind her wedding dress

OHMYGOSSIP — Nikki Bella was determined to wear her dream wedding dress despite its history.
The WWE legend first bought the gown during her engagement to ex John Cena before the split in 2018 after six years together, and she wore the very same dress when she tied the knot with Artem Chigvintsev last summer.
She told E! News: “When you dream of having that day and that dress and that’s something that you love as a little girl or a woman, and for me that’s what that dress was.
“When I saw it, I thought of me and me in it and it’s something that I loved so much—and I paid for it.
“So I felt when Artem and I were planning our wedding, I just couldn’t help but feel like, ‘Why do I have to give up the dress that I love because it was maybe gonna walk down another aisle?’
“I just felt like, no, this was for me and for no one else but me.”
The 39-year-old star approached her husband about the idea to check if he had “an issue with it”, and admitted she “would have for sure not have worn it” if he didn’t want her too.
However, the 40-year-old ‘Dancing With The Stars’ professional said: “I didn’t mind. Nicole always asked me ‘would it be OK?’
“I honestly think people make such a big deal about it. I didn’t care at all. Like you start putting energy out there where it shouldn’t be.
“It shouldn’t affect us getting married. It was totally fine. But I didn’t see the dress until the very last moment.”

Paris Hilton and Gigi Hadid pose with photos of younger selves for BOSS campaign

OHMYGOSSIP — Paris Hilton, Gigi Hadid and Naomi Campbell have posed with photographs of themselves as children for BOSS’ new campaign.
The German brand’s upcoming Spring/Summer 2023 campaign is all about documenting the journey each star featured has gone through to become “their own BOSS.”
Demi Lovato and Latin star Maluma also posed with their portraits.
Alongside her photo, in which the young star has a giant netted hair bow in her hair, Paris wrote on Instagram: “You have to sliv to become a BOSS #BeYourOwnBOSS.”
“sliving” is one of Paris’ famous catchphrases – along with “That’s hot” and “loves it” – and is slang for slaying and living your best life.
Paris getting nostalgic about her childhood comes after she welcomed her first child via surrogate.
The 41-year-old socialite took to social media to share a picture of her clutching onto her and husband Carter Reum’s baby boy’s hand.
She wrote on Instagram: “You are already loved beyond words”
The former ‘Simple Life’ star admitted she and Carter, also 41, are “exploding with love” for their newborn.
She told PEOPLE magazine: “It’s always been my dream to be a mother and I’m so happy that Carter and I found each other.
“We are so excited to start our family together and our hearts are exploding with love for our baby boy.”
In December, Paris admitted she and Carter – who married in November 2021 – had started the IVF (in-vitro fertilisation) process during the coronavirus pandemic.
She said: “We started going and doing it like a few months in because the world was shut down.
“We knew we wanted to start a family, and I was like, ‘This is perfect timing. Usually, I’m on a plane 250 days out of the year, and let’s just get all of the eggs stocked and ready,’ and we have tons of them just waiting.”

Shania Twain: I am an ageing woman, and I don’t want to have to shroud myself

OHMYGOSSIP — Shania Twain has vowed to never let “fashion and society determine” what she should or shouldn’t wear.
The 57-year-old singer insists she is “comfortable” in her own skin after posing naked covered in mud for an alternative cover of her new album ‘Queen of Me’, and she will wear what she wants, even if the outfits are intended for younger people.
She said: “Now I’m an older woman, and women in menopause’s bodies are changing.
“When you’re in menopause and your body’s changing, they’re not making fun, attractive clothes for women in their 50s. It’s all made for teens and people in their 20s. I was like, ‘Screw that, I’m gonna start getting comfortable, literally in my own skin, naked.'”
The ‘You’re Still The One’ hitmaker is no longer afraid to look in the mirror and embrace her natural self.
She added in an interview with Music Week magazine: “I did a naked photo shoot and it took so much courage.
“Because when you’re in your late 50s, you don’t look in the mirror anymore. You can ask all kinds of women, you’ll get a very similar answer: they prefer the lights are down when they take a bath, they make love in the dark – it’s a very common frame of mind that women get into. I’ve had enough of that. I am an ageing woman, and I don’t want to have to shroud myself – and I don’t want fashion and society to determine what I should wear and what I shouldn’t wear. I own this now, I’m taking ownership of this, I’m comfortable in my own skin, I’m doing a photo shoot with all my clothes off. I’m going to sit and look at these photographs, I’m going to face these fears. And I’m going to find the beauty in this.”

King Princess got a haircut inspired by Joe Jonas in Camp Rock

OHMYGOSSIP — King Princess once got a haircut inspired by Joe Jonas in ‘Camp Rock’.
The ‘Let Us Die’ singer – whose real name is Mikaela Straus – watched the Disney Channel Original Movie as a child and wanted the mop top sported by the middle Jonas Brother in the film where he starred opposite Demi Lovato.
The 24-year-old musician – who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns – told Interview magazine: “I was in the fifth grade. I had just watched ‘Camp Rock’. And I printed a photo of Joe Jonas on my mom’s printer and brought it into a salon and was like, ‘This haircut.” And I got home and I was like, “Oh f***. This was a poor choice.” Everyone already thought I was a d***. So I was like, “F***. Now I’ve really shot myself in the foot.’ So, I wore a hat for a whole year while it grew.”
They added: “Now that would be a dated reference.”
Mikaela cited themselves as the probable “crown” holder of bad haircuts inspired by pop culture figures, something they noticed while onstage.
They said: “I probably took that crown. I can’t even tell you how many people have my haircut at my shows. I was performing and I looked out in the audience, and there was a full King Princess cosplay situation happening.”
The ‘Hold On Baby’ hitmaker called their episode of the Audible podcast ‘Origins’ – which explores their life and work – “kind of crazy”.
Mikaela said: “I felt very emotional listening to it and thinking about myself as a kid, to revisit those parts of your life and then to revisit it on a public platform. There’s parts of our childhood we all kind of want to be like, ‘I’m not that person anymore. I’ve grown, I’m so different.’ Childhood can be very touchy. And then to have a verbal document of it is kind of crazy.”

The ‘Bones and All’ star was handpicked by the brand’s creative director Jonathan Anderson to be the first to stomp down the runway for their Spring 2023 collection and starred in a campaign for them, which was photographed by Juergen Teller.
The 28-year-old actress told Harper’s Bazaar magazine: “I feel like a little kid being able to do all this stuff that I’m doing right now.
“‘Why not just run around that playground?’ is how I feel. Let’s see how it shifts and evolves.”
The ‘Waves’ star dubbed her day job as the “opposite” of fleeing the scene as it shines truth on things.
Taylor said: “Acting is the opposite of running away. It illuminates something.”
The ‘Escape Room’ star also remarked on the “beauty” of the North American cities she has felt “connected” to her Jamaican heritage -like Toronto and New York City – via food and other cultural touchstones.
Taylor said: “The beauty of Toronto is that, out of Canada, that’s where the culture is. My dad is Jamaican, and we ate Caribbean food, and it felt like that community was very intact, and I liked that. Similarly, when I moved to New York, I felt that as well, like, ‘Thank God. I’m on the train in Harlem with my people and I can find the food that makes me feel connected to my roots.’ It’s so vital. It’s lifeblood.”

Malachi Kirby is “surprised” by his love of fashion

OHMYGOSSIP — Malachi Kirby is “surprised” by his new found love of fashion.
The ‘Roots’ star feels like “a fish out of water” when it comes to the world of styling but is loving learning about what he likes and sharpening his sartorial taste and range.
The 33-year-old actor told Esquire magazine: “I’m a bit of a fish out of water when it comes to fashion. I’m really quite new to it and it’s definitely not something that I’ve followed. But it’s kind of surprised me how interested I am in it.”
Malachi loves the clothes of classic British menswear designer Paul Smith as they are “everyday” but “heightened”.
He said: “That idea of something being ‘wearable’ is quite strange but there are sometimes clothes I see, and I think, ‘do people actually wear this? Like, in real life?’ But at Paul Smith there is the balance of being larger than the average – something you could wear for an event – but also something you could wear in the everyday as well. Just a bit heightened.”
The ‘Boiling Point’ star called being involved with the professional kitchen drama – also starring Stephen Graham – “special” due to filming being impacted by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, which posed many worrying questions about the future of the film and TV industries.
Malachi said: “It felt kind of special in a way. I felt like we were one of the last people to do a film. Didn’t know when we’d be able to do one again. This might be the last one we do, maybe ever.”
