Lost Princess Diana ‘black sheep’ sweater predicted to fetch up to $90,000 at auction

OHMYGOSSIP — A previously lost sweater worn by Princess Diana is expected to fetch up to $90,000 at auction.
The famous ‘black sheep’ jumper, which is made of red wool jumper and is emblazoned with white sheep and one black animal, will go one sale at Sotheby’s upcoming Fashion Icons auction in New York and online on September 7.
Sotheby’s global head of fashion and accessories Cynthia Houlton said: “This exceptional garment, meticulously preserved, carries the whispers of Princess Diana’s grace, charm, and her keen eye for fashion.”
The piece, which had gone missing for years, was first worn by Lady Diana Spencer at a polo match in 1981 when she was engaged to Prince Charles, who is now King Charles III.
It was made by the label Warm and Wonderful, and due to Diana’s fashion influence, the then-new brand was overwhelmed with demand after she was seen in the garment.
The company said: “Much to our amazement, the first we knew of Lady Diana Spencer wearing the sweater was when we saw her on the front page of one of the Sunday newspapers.
“Her influence was impactful almost immediately thereafter, leading to a surge in sales and public awareness of our small label, for which we will be forever grateful.”
The jumper was sent back to the label for repairs upon the request of Buckingham Palace and they sent a new one.
The original got lost and was found gathering dust in an attic..
The design was discontinued in 1994, but a new version was released in 2020 in collaboration with Rowing Blazer.
Emma Corrin, who played Diana in ‘The Crown’ in Season Four, wore a replica.

Pharrell ‘blindsided’ over being named Louis Vuitton’s creative director of menswear

OHMYGOSSIP — Pharrell felt “blindsided” when he was chosen as Louis Vuitton’s creative director of menswear.
The rapper, 50, who debuted his first collection for the fashion giant on Tuesday (20.06.23) by turning Paris’ oldest bridge the Pont Neuf into a catwalk, was told he was getting the job by Louis Vuitton CEO Pietro Beccari while sitting in his Miami studio in late 2022.
He admitted in an interview with GQ: “I never thought that it would be me. It was – and it’s still – unreal.
“I didn’t know (my previous work) was leading to this though. I would’ve worked harder.”
Since taking the job, Pharrell – born Pharrell Lanscilo Williams – has been working out of a studio in the LV headquarters across the street from the Pont Neuf in Paris’ 2nd arrondissement.
He added about being given carte blanche at the fashion house to produce whatever work he wanted: “They just gave me the keys.
“You never really hear, ‘No.’ And if it’s ‘no’ it’s because something is not possible.
“But then they’re off in the distance trying to figure out how to engineer around it, or make something bigger.”
He insisted about not letting nerves stop him from taking the job: “Hesitation and nerves are not a thing for me in this part of my life.
“It’s like not knowing that you were hungry.
“Would you hesitate to eat when the greatest meal that has ever been given to you ever is placed before you?
“You didn’t even know you were hungry because you were complacent and thankful. Would you hesitate to eat?”
Pharrell wanted five categories to make up his first collection – tailoring, comfort, resort, sport, and a core collection of perennial basics.
He also created a hero accessory around which he could build campaigns and drive sales – a new ‘It Bag’.
Pharrell ended up using the iconic LV Speedy bag in primary colours, saying: “I did what they can’t do. Use real, next-level, buttery, buttery crushed leather.”

Sarah Jessica Parker reveals why Carrie Bradshaw never got a manicure on ‘Sex and the City’

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Jessica Parker says Carrie Bradshaw never got a manicure on ‘Sex and the City’ as she was always typing.
The actress, 58, who has reprised her role as the neurotic relationship columnist in ‘SATC’ spin-off show ‘And Just Like That’ said despite Carrie’s obsession with clothes and shoes, she was rarely seen bothering about her nails.
She told Glamour magazine: “Carrie’s a writer, so she would have been typing originally on a proper typewriter.
”She would have learned typing in high school, and she was a practical writer and a necessary writer and a romantic writer.”
The ‘SATC’ star added manicures were unnecessary for Carrie as they “seemed (a) futile because it would always be messed up and (b) an obstacle on the speedy road toward thoughts being written”.
She said: “It just never seemed that it was where Carrie would spend her time expressing herself.”
Sarah also revealed there were continuity reasons for not giving Carrie different nail varnish colours.
She said: “We also don’t shoot in order. You’re moving from scene to scene, so practically speaking, it’s problematic to have a nail colour that’s got to match every single scene. It gets in the way of speed and economy.”
But Sarah admitted the new second series of HBO’s ‘AJLT’ would feature Carrie showing off dark nail polish, saying: “I thought it would be interesting to do, given the outfits and given the environment in which those scenes take place.”
The show’s executive producer Michael Patrick King added to Glamour about the surprise of seeing Sarah on set with bold nails while filming in Brooklyn: “I thought, Wow, she’s wearing nail polish! And it’s a dark nail polish, which is interesting and surprising.”
He added about Carrie’s clothes choices: “She decides, ‘I’m going to wear this or that. I’m going to wear this long slip tutu to go get coffee. And, oh, maybe I’ll put on nail polish tonight.’
“What’s great about the character is she is not guarded by rules. Even rules she makes up.”
Sarah told People about her own nails: “My nails are just buffed and clean. I use my hands a lot. I cook. I clean. I do laundry.
“(Nail polish) is not practical in my life given what my hands need to do every day! But for a red carpet, I will wear a dark green (polish) or something specific.”

Tina Turner hailed by costume designer for having ‘best body’ for her revealing stage outfits

OHMYGOSSIP — Tina Turner has been hailed by her costume collaborator for having the “best body” for her revealing stage outfits.
The late singer, who died aged 83 on 24 May after years battling illnesses including severe kidney problems, is said by her friend and fashion designer Bob Mackie, 84, to have used her entire toned physique to make the most of her on-stage clothes.
He told The Guardian ahead of the launch of the opening of the ‘Diva’ exhibition at London’s Victoria and Albert museum, which features the ‘Private Dancer’ singer’s looks: “Tina Turner was larger than life right up to the end.”
Bob created Tina’s so-called ‘Flame’ dress she wore in 1977, which is one of the highlights of the Diva exhibition that opens on Saturday 24 June.
It featured ribbons of red and gold sequins swinging from a nude corset, which was designed to swish around Tina’s thighs to create a fire illusion.
Bob added about the costume: “It was kind of a cavewoman dress. It didn’t just hang there like an old Halloween costume.
“She worked it. Tina had the best body, with the longest legs, and she used it all. When she was on stage she became rock’n’roll.”
The designer said about being stunned at Tina’s death: “Even though I knew she wasn’t well, losing Tina was a shock.
“There was still such joy in that big rough laugh of hers. I thought she would be here for ever.”
Bob’s Guardian profile said he believes strength of will is a foundation stone of “divadom”.
He added about Tina’s relentless perfectionism: “In rehearsals, Tina would train her girls to dance the exact way that she wanted them to dance.”
Bob is considered the godfather of the naked dress trend, and as a 23-year-old assistant to designer Jean Louis, he sketched the dress in which Marilyn Monroe sang Happy Birthday to President John F Kennedy.

Warehouse ad banned by Advertising Standards Authority for featuring ‘unhealthily thin’ model

OHMYGOSSIP — The Advertising Standards Authority has banned one of fast fashion retailer Warehouse’s ads as it ruled its model was “unhealthily thin”.
Watchdog bosses said the promo, which showed the model wearing a bodysuit and an oversized leather jacket, was “irresponsible” after it received a complaint about the image which appeared in a product listing on Warehouse’s website in February.
The model was seen in the ad with a jacket draped off her left shoulder and a high-cut bodysuit underneath exposing her legs.
Warehouse told the ASA it did not think the image showed the model as “unhealthily thin” and stressed she was a UK size eight and had a body mass index withing the NHS standard of a “healthy” weight.
The retailer also argued it was “wrong” to suggest “the image presented her in an irresponsible manner”.
According to the ASA, Warehouse also said it promoted body inclusivity and worked closely with agencies to hire a range of models who “represent women of all body types across the UK”.
The ASA ruled the model in the ad had a shoulder and upper arm that seemed “small” and “narrow”, and said her “collar bone and torso… appeared very thin”.
It ruled: “We considered that the pose and styling of her legs emphasised her slimness in a manner which made her appear unhealthily thin,”
The ASA concluded amid ongoing changes within the model industry in terms of body shapes and sizes it puts on display, that the ad was “irresponsible” and “must not” be shown again in its “current form”.

Kendall Jenner mercilessly trolled over ‘diaper’ dress at Jacquemus runway show

OHMYGOSSIP — Kendall Jenner got trolled for wearing a “diaper-like” dress for the Jacquemus runway show.
The 27-year-old model strutted down the catwalk in a puffy white bodysuit during the French designer’s “Le Chouchou” show at Paris Fashion Week in Versailles on Monday (26.06.23).
The controversial outfit featured an off-the-shoulder neckline and ruffled material.
Kendal finished off the look with a silver diamond necklace that bared resemblance to the piece that was gifted to the late Princess Diana by Queen Elizabeth II when she married Prince Charles at St. Paul’s Cathedral on July 29, 1981.
The original necklace was made of three strands of lustrous pearls held together by a stunning centrepiece composed of oval-shaped sapphires surrounded by diamonds, with a larger sapphire pendant hanging delicately at the bottom.
But netizens were quick to critique the model once photos arrived online for being styled in an “oversized diaper”.
The comments section of Vogue India’s Instagram account was flooded by trolls who roasted the supermodel by also comparing her to a walking marshmallow, shower cap, diaper, scrunchie and pillow amongst other things.
One user wrote: “Looks like an oversized diaper.”
Another added: “Why does Kendall look like she smelled something bad?”
A third chimed in: “May be [sic] cuz she is wearing a huge pamper?”
This has not been the first time Kendall’s been subjected to ruthless online trolling for her fashion choices.
In early June, Kendall – whose mother is Kris Jenner – was criticised for her choice of wearing a sheer dress.
One user wrote: “Why are these girls so needy?”
A second said: “No class or decorum.”
A third added: “In what world do people think this looks good?”
Whilst a fourth chimed in: “IS THAT EVEN A DRESS or an UNDRESS?”

Mia Khalifa: I spent years feeling uncomfortable in my own skin

OHMYGOSSIP — Mia Khalifa “spent years feeling uncomfortable” in her own skin.
The Middle Eastern beauty, who moved from Lebanon to Washington D.C. in 2001, said growing up was a struggle because she didn’t “fit the dominant beauty standards” at school which made her feel uncomfortable in her own skin.
She told Vogue: “I grew up in Lebanon until I was eight, after which my family moved to Washington DC in 2001. It was a very confusing time for me, especially with the inherent racism towards Middle Eastern people that came after 9/11. Anyone who looked Middle Eastern was viewed as a threat.
“So not only did I not fit the dominant beauty standards at my new American school – which were all to do with being skinny, blonde and having blue eyes – how I looked actually made people uncomfortable, which was very difficult to reconcile as a young girl.”
She added: “At the same time, I didn’t fit in with Lebanese beauty ideals either, as I was very overweight. As a result, my relationship with beauty has been extremely difficult, and I’ve often struggled with issues around self-esteem.”
Recently, the 30-year-old influencer has been collaborating with a number of brands in order to reclaim her image through fashion which she says feels empowering.
She said: “Fashion has given me the opportunity to express myself creatively. Recently, I have been lucky enough to work with a number of brands and publications who have been keen to collaborate with me, which I’ve found really empowering.
“Fashion has also given me a sense of freedom and confidence, which has allowed me to embrace dressing for the female rather than the male gaze. It’s given me a louder voice, and helped me to embrace who I am.
“I’ve stopped trying to dress like a white girl, I’ve stopped trying to do my make-up like a white girl. It’s only for a short time that I’ve felt comfortable in my skin.”

Jonathan Van Ness: I feel most beautiful as my authentic self

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonathan Van Ness says he feels most “beautiful” as his authentic self.
The ‘Queer Eye’ star – who came out as non-binary in 2019 – has learned to “express myself for me” and not for others.
Speaking to ELLE, he said: “Until my mid to late 20s I thought beauty was how people responded to me – I was beautiful if people responded to me in a certain way. Then it transformed into I feel beautiful when I present authentically, when I express myself for me. It was around then that my gender journey started. That was when I first started to buck the masc idea. I started wearing tights and crop tops and just feeling more comfortable in my femininity.”
The hairstylist – who is known for his trademark luscious locks – admits that there are still some unhealthy beauty standards out there for everyone no matter what their gender identity is.
He said: “The illusion of beauty, is really powerful for everyone – no matter how you identify or where you’re from. I always hope that people are wielding their idea of beauty in healthy and uplifting ways. But it’s not always the case.”
However, being unapologetically himself does come with animosity from others that feel threatened.
He shared: “I think some people can feel very threatened by queer people and the way that queer people express their beauty. I think when some cis gender people see people in the LGBTQIA+ community who are comfortable in their own skin and embracing who they are and don’t abide by constraints of the gender binary, that can feel threatening.
“It can be very discombobulating when you assign your personality and your identity to this thing that you thought wasn’t a choice then you see other people being themselves unapologetically, not conforming or compromising and there’s a little bit of jealousy there.
“’You might see people that look courageous and fearless, and even though we’re not, in fact a lot of us are really afraid, we look at that fear and we realise it’s more important to be authentic to ourselves than it is to conform to what someone thinks beautiful is supposed to be.”

Corey Mylchreest: The stuffy Bridgerton costumes were a bit much

OHMYGOSSIP — Corey Mylchreest has admitted the “stuffy costumes” on ‘Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story’ were “a lot”.
The 25-year-old actor – who plays King George III in the ‘Bridgerton’ spin-off – admitted some of the ensembles he had to wear for the period drama were difficult to work in, but not nearly as bad as the waist-cinching corsets worn by the female cast members.
Speaking to GQ, he said: “When you’re playing a character a costume can make you feel a certain way. That’s really useful because it can make you feel anything other than yourself, which helps with the method. Clothing can really influence your mind and in turn what you’re putting across to other people.
“The best days on the Bridgerton set were those when I could just wear a shirt and trousers for the scenes in the fields. I’m not complaining as the female actors had it much worse, but some of those stuffy costumes were a lot.”
Reaping the benefits of his newfound fame, the overnight star attended his first-ever Paris Fashion Week as a guest of Loewe and its creative director Jonathan Anderson.
Corey never considered himself a fashionista until he got to sit in the front row on the runway, and he’s now keen to further “explore” the fashion world.
He said: “I have a vague understanding of what to expect, I’ve got my looks, and I know there’s a cocktail before the show and then a party. But still, this is a bit mad. I have big boots to fill, Loewe is a massive brand!
“This sort of fashion is new to me.
“I didn’t really grow up being exposed to the world of fashion or having opportunities to wear nice things. I look up to actors like Josh O’Connor and Murray Bartlett, and they’ve crossed from being actors to being hailed as these fashion guys.
“I worked with a stylist for the first time during the Queen Charlotte press tour, and I began to understand this massive world of fashion. You can definitely get sucked into it. And I’m definitely exploring it a lot more than I ever thought I would.”

Revealing her secrets to Cosmopolitan, Barbie said: “I wear [bike shorts] under my dresses because, you know, chub rub is real.
“I think for me, more than fashion it’s style. I’ve always loved styling myself, even as a kid. I’d go to thrift stores and get a pound of clothes for like five bucks.
“I’m 26 now, so I’ve refined the way I dress in a lot of ways. I do not care if it’s on trend or not.”
The star has recently collaborated with Havaianas on a collection inspired by her Brazilian heritage.
Barbie said: “I feel very much like Brazilian culture was how I grew up.
“[The collab] is really exciting, I get to work with the country that means the most to me and [explore] my heritage and my culture, and kind of bring this like Brazilian-American fusion to it because of course, that’s who I am.
“I’ve been wearing Havaianas since I was a literal toddler. My mom every year for Christmas would get me a bunch of Brazilian stuff, and always without fail every year, I’d get a pair [of Havaianas].”
She continued: “This collection is a labour of love.
“It’s really connected to my culture and my roots so I hope that people like it. I hope it shows that it’s positive and happy and fun and sweet. You know, they’re flip-flops, so I don’t know if they’re gonna save the world.”

Gwen Stefani ditches Japan references in new beauty line

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwen Stefani has ditched references to Japan in her new makeup line.
The ’What You Waiting For?’ hitmaker has faced accusations of cultural appropriation in the past after taking inspiration from the Harajuku Girls in the early 2000s and heavily styling her image and music off Japanese culture but says that her new GXVE line only reflects her as an individual.
She told Metro: “I wanted to do something new and fresh. And to leave a creative legacy – I don’t know if I’ll be doing music forever.
“So the challenge for me is to make it better. I love working behind the scenes with the chemists.
“There was a big ‘What could it be?’, and it took me two days and I realised ‘It’s just me, it’s everything I’ve already done, so how do I make it feel like the newest version of me?'”
Gwen is known for sporting red lipstick and says it was an easy decision to include it in her range.
The former No Doubt singer said: “Yesterday I went to the gym and I put on my red lipstick – and I looked really cute.
“If I only had five minutes to do my makeup, I would put on a lipstick. It brightens up the day and looks like you tried.
“I’m really proud of the red lipstick I created, because it was one of those things over the years everyone would always ask me: ‘What do you wear?’
“I love me a matte red, velvety, comfortable lipstick.”

Jessica Madsen has ‘magpie eyes’ when it comes to fashion

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Madsen has “magpie eyes” when it comes to fashion.
The ‘Bridgerton’ actress attended the Cartier’s Queen Cup Polo in Windsor adorned in a tailored Ba ‘n’ sh skirt suit that was accessorised by a Cartier bag and jewellery and admits that she loves the “empowering” feeling that a suit gives her.
Jessica told Harper’s Bazaar: “When I saw this Ba ‘n’ sh suit, I immediately thought it was me and when I tried it on, it felt like it was an extension of myself. I love the Miu Miu mini-skirt vibe.
“I have Magpie eyes when it comes to fashion. If I love it and it feels like a piece I can have forever, I’ll treat myself to it. Most of the time, I’m drawn to an empowering yet elegant suit, so when Cartier invited me to the polo, I thought that this was the perfect day out for it. To wear Cartier jewellery is also incredibly cool – I was in heaven.”
Jessica explained that she has long-lasting love for Cartier that runs in her family.
She said: “Personally, I don’t think it gets any better than Cartier when it comes to jewellery. This feels so special to me; I’ve loved Cartier ever since I was a little girl. My parents and older siblings all have matching Cartier watches, so to me, it feels like a true staple.”
Jessica considers fashion to be a form of self-expression and likes to be involved in the styling process as much as possible.
She said: “I like to be really involved, but I also want my team’s input and to allow them their creative freedom. I love nothing more than being surprised by what someone else envisions and what that evokes in me. I want style to help inspire and stretch my self-expression, as well as my creative boundaries, too.
“A suit is my usual go-to but, equally, it could be a long flowing dress. I’m constantly surprising myself and exploring where my confidence lies, which is really exciting.”
