Ashley Park: I don’t need to show off my body!

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashley Park has learned that she “doesn’t need to show off” her body.
The 32-year-old actress explained that she has come to terms with who she is now and after turning to social media networks like TikTok and Instagram, has realised that it is not necessary for her to wear tight clothes if she doesn’t want to.
She told Marie Claire: “I want people, when they see me, whether it be like a red carpet or like with my overalls and glam street sneakers, to be like ‘Oh, that’s so Ashley’. And that’s because I’ve figured out who I am. I think people sometimes go to the words of ‘bright or bold’ [to describe my style] but for me, I think of it as confident and comfortable. Honestly, I learnt a lot through watching Instagram Reels and TikTok … I used to think you had to show off your body by wearing tight clothes but I love an oversize thing now. I learn a lot from different people online and that’s what’s so fun. We didn’t have that growing up, like whatever your community or town was doing [it was] like, ‘I guess we’re all wearing chokers now.”
Ashley is best known for her role as Mindy in the Netflix comedy series ‘Emily in Paris and revealed that in the upcoming season, her character has been “borrowing” items from her own closet because her “whole thing” now is comfort.
She added: “What’s fun is that in season three, Mindy starting borrowing stuff from my own closet. We really figured it out and really learned so much during season one, and that’s also why my whole thing is comfort.”

Mindy Kaling has ‘less time’ for beauty since becoming a mom

OHMYGOSSIP — Mindy Kaling has “less time” for beauty now that she is a mother.
The 44-year-old actress has five-year-old daughter Kit and two-year-old Spencer and explained that she now has a “seven-step routine” that includes using an exfoliating powder scrub and moisturising but ultimately believes her complexion is in a “better” condition since giving birth.
She told Allure: “I don’t know whether it is just because I have less time, but I have really gotten the pattern of my evening ritual and my morning ritual down. I don’t spend a lot of time doing it, even if I have seven steps. Because what I just outlined is a lot of steps, but I can just do it quickly now. I think my skin has gotten better as I’ve had kids. I don’t know why. Maybe just because I know about more kinds of things and little tricks that I didn’t before.”
The former ‘Office’ star – who has never revealed the identity of her children’s father – went on to add that over the years of her career, she has been able to use makeup as a a way of finding her character on screen and found it “fun” to be able to experiment.
She said: “Kelly [Kapoor, on ‘The Office’] was a customer service rep in a cubicle in a windowless office in Scranton, Pennsylvania. And she was always wearing statement purple eyeshadow and tons of blush and lots of mascara. We were really specific on that show about not having me do stuff that she wouldn’t have access to. So she wasn’t wearing eyelash extensions or fake lashes, but she would wear a ton of mascara or bold lipstick. She expressed herself with a lot of statement makeup. And I think that is what was so endearing about that character for me. Because Mindy Lahiri [on ‘The Mindy Project’] was a character who was a professional, an OBGYN, her makeup was slightly more refined, a little bit less Wet’n’Wild.
“Also because I was in my mid-thirties. But Mindy Lahiri did great hair trends. She was doing balayage and all kinds of big headbands…. It’s fun as an actor, as a woman who loves makeup and skin care and hair care, to be able to play these characters that care about those things. So even if I wouldn’t do balayage with my own hair, I’m like, sure, let this woman with her disposable income do it. She got to do a lot of fun, trendy things that I maybe would have been too shy to do [in my own life] and I appreciated that about the character.”

Fara Williams: Why young girls don’t want to put on a football kit…

OHMYGOSSIP — Fara Williams thinks that young girls don’t want to put on a football kit as they reach puberty.
The 39-year-old footballer – who plays as a Lioness for the England national team – explained that there is been a “big drop” in young girls taking to the pitch because of the rate at which their bodies are changing after a survey by Women In Sport found that 64% of young girls quit the sport before they start secondary school.
She said: “There is a big drop off in women’s football around the age of 13. I have coached girls at that age and their bodies are changing so quickly and you can see that they really struggle with that. Often girls would come back after the six-week summer break and during that time they had gone through a major transition into young women, looking different and feeling different. They struggle with what their body is changing into and often just want to cover up, and sometimes don’t want to put on a football kit and be more visible.”
Fara now believes that it is necessary to “educate” children from a young age about the hormonal changes that young girls experience in order to make them feel more “comfortable and confident” in keeping up football once they reach a certain age.
She added: “I think we have to educate from a young age about the changes girls experience in sport and how we can support them during that process to make them feel more comfortable and confident.”
Speaking ahead of the World Cup as part of Bluebella lingerie’s #StrongIsBeautiful campaign, Fara admitted that it was seen as “different” for her to want to play football when she was at school and explained that even though things have “improved”, there is still a long way to go until women are seen as equal in football.
She said: “Back when I was at school for a girl to want to play football was seen as quite different to the norm, and you had to be really resilient at sticking with it.
“I think with the success of the Lionesses and greater exposure to women’s sport is helping to improve things but it’s still lacking the support that the boys get and girls are still treated like second class citizens in the sport.”

Barbie’s costume designer reveals ‘biggest challenge’ of dressing Margot Robbie

OHMYGOSSIP — Jacqueline Durran only 11 weeks to design the costumes for ‘Barbie’.
The Academy Award-winning designer was tasked with coming up with a different costume for Margot Robbie to wear in the title role of Greta Gerwig’s upcoming summer comedy based on the iconic fashion doll – who was created by Ruth Handler and launched by Mattel in 1959 -and found it tricky to “narrow down” the choices left by the brand’s back catalogue.
She told E! News: “Margot is just about the most perfect human you can imagine, so she didn’t make it hard. What was hard was narrowing down all the options and making sense of all the possible looks we could go for. The other big challenge was that Barbie changes her costume every time we see her. So there was a lot to do in very little time. We only had 11 weeks of prep time before the shoot started!”
Jacqueline – who has worked on a number of Hollywood hits such as ‘Atonement’ and ‘Little Women’ and dressed Kristen Stewart for her role as Princess Diana in ‘Spencer’ – went on to add she took inspiration from a number of Barbie looks from her early days on the market and wanted to honour the “rich history” of Barbie with her deisgns.
She said: “My main inspiration was the Barbie catalogue. I tried to do a comprehensive sweep of different Barbie looks. One example was all the white and gold Barbie costumes from the ’60s to the ’90s for the block party. I chose the strongest looks with the best hair ornaments and lots of frills, particularly ones that were uniquely Barbie. Creating the fashion for this movie was so special, and I wanted to make sure I honoured the rich history of the doll and its many style iterations over the years.”
‘Barbie’ is in cinemas from July 21.

Nicole Kidman makes ‘random, crazy’ fashion choices

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicole Kidman doesn’t care what people think about her fashion sense.
The 56-year-old Australian actress caused a stir last year when she graced the cover of Vanity Fair’s annual Hollywood issue in a daring ensemble featuring a super-short Miu Miu mini skirt and matching crop top with her outfit dividing fans and attracting criticism online.
Reflecting on her controversial look, Nicole insisted she likes to take risks when it comes to fashion and doesn’t think about the consequences, telling Australia’s Stellar magazine: “I make the most random, crazy choices. I call them ‘teenage choices’ because I just don’t ever think of consequences,
“Part of my brain just doesn’t think like that. I just go, ‘Oh, I’m going to wear that; it reminds me of my school uniform.’ Or, ‘Oh my God, yeah, I’d love to do that.’ I try to (stay) in that place because I think otherwise you get scared or worried.”
The mother of four – who has Isabella, 30 and Connor, 28 with ex-husband Tom Cruise and daughters, Sunday Rose, 15 and Faith Margaret, 13 with husband Keith Urban – admits she does her best to block out the hate towards her adventurous style so it doesn’t stop her from making bold choices.
She said “Don’t tell me, I don’t really want to know. It will stop me doing what I want to do,”
“There are times when you hear things and you go, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s really hurtful.’ Because you can’t be under a rock. But at the same time, I really try to stay free in the choices because otherwise, before you know it, you’re just closed off and you can’t step anywhere.
“And I’d hate for that to happen to my daughters. I’d hate for it to happen to anybody I love. I want for myself just to keep going, ‘Oh, well, I’m trying something, or I wanted to do it. It was fun. That was my choice. And yeah, I own it. I’m accountable. Whatever. I take responsibility. Nobody else chose it’.”

Suki Waterhouse feels most beautiful when she’s naked

OHMYGOSSIP — Suki Waterhouse feels most beautiful with nothing on.
The actress, singer and model, 31 – who rose to fame at 16 as the face of Burberry – is known for her signature sixties mod girl style, thanks to her long mullet, boot cut jeans, animal prints and faux fur coats.
But despite walking the runway for luxury fashion designers in various haute couture, Suki admits she feels most comfortable “just with nothing on, being in your own skin.”
Talking to Harper’s Bazaar, she said: “That sounds weird, but it’s just about being comfortable. Sometimes, I feel at my best when I’m clean in my joggers, really engrossed in something around the house. Just being in your own space, with nothing else around you and no pressures to look good. Maybe I’m playing guitar or piano, where you’re just sitting with yourself and can kind of investigate your own brain. I love that kind of solitude.”
Suki, who’s ditched the 60s rocker look by adopting French minimalist style, says fashion is not shallow as it’s a form of self-expression and a symbol of freedom.
She added: “What we wear matters because there’s so much history attached to it, you can find out so much through clothes and there’s so much significance to what we wear. Although there might be some people who wouldn’t admit it, fashion is so important, as it’s what we cover our naked bodies with, so those choices are so important. People may say they don’t care about clothes, but they do in some way; fashion is about how we want to show up and who we want to be in the world. It’s fascinating.”
According to Suki, fashion plays a big role in society by reflecting a person’s identity and can be used to make a political statement.
She said: “It’s an amazing way to understand one another and bring people together. There are so many implications – both political and cultural – that we don’t even realise at the time. Even the fact that I’m wearing this suit, which is usually worn by a man and has been a way to constrict them keeping them uptight. It’s cool that we’ve repurposed it for women to wear, now it’s considered sexy and feminine. There are endless things to be fascinated with fashion, even carrying a handbag, it’s considered to be related to women providing and carrying a burden. There’s psychological meaning to everything we choose and wear.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Gary Barlow hasn’t eaten a burger in 14 years.
The Take that singer, 52, revealed the fast food favourite is his dream meal , but he’s resisted the urge to tuck in because he’s determined to keep his diet healthy. During an appearance on BBC TV show ‘Saturday Kitchen’, Gary was asked to dish up his idea of “food heaven” admitting his favourite treat is a burger but he hasn’t had one since 2009.
He said: “The food heaven is something I can remember the last time I had it was 2009.
“I don’t eat hamburgers very often but I love them so much. It’s a big treat.
‘The food heaven for me is an ultimate hamburger with everything on, great bun, great beef with shoestring fries, condiments mayonnaise (and) ketchup, lightly pan-fried red onions, cheese, gorgeous.”
In a previous interview the ‘Patience’ hitmaker was candid about his battle with bulimia and other health struggles, admitting his eating disorder was a form of self-punishment as he was trying to kill off his pop star persona.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’ he said at the time: “I was trying to kill off the pop star, that’s what I was doing.
“I was eating away what a pop star looked like. So I didn’t look like a pop star. I was just killing him off. And by not singing I was putting the nail in the coffin. I liked it, I liked doing it.
“I stopped dying the hair, stopped buying nice clothes, just wanted to look the opposite, physically and mentally.”
He added: “2003 – it was the day when I just went, ‘No, I’m not having this anymore, I’m going to change. I want to change and I’m determined that this is not who I’ve become’.
“It only took a few years to get that low, but it took me years to get back to who I wanted to be. 10 years probably.”

‘We want to be healthy, we want to be ageing…’ Gwyneth Paltrow says women should embrace getting older

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwyneth Paltrow ageing should be empowering for women as “this idea that we’re supposed to be frozen in time is so weird”.
The 50-year-old actress – who is known as a wellness guru since creating Goop in 2008 – says the beauty standards applied to women is unfair and as a group “we want to be healthy, we want to be ageing”.
Speaking to Vogue, she said: “I think it’s culture’s problem [that women seem to be judged more on getting older than men]. It’s not ours! As women, we want to be healthy, we want to be ageing. This idea that we’re supposed to be frozen in time is so weird. “
Whilst it’s no secret that ageism is rife in Hollywood, with young actresses being cast opposite older actors in romantic roles, Gwyneth says it’s up to older ladies in the acting industry to educate and set the standard.
She added: “I love it when I hear somebody like Andie MacDowell, with her beautiful grey curls, talking about embracing ageing and the difference between how we handle a George Clooney [compared to how most women are perceived].
“It’s handsome to go grey [as a man], but for women it’s like, ‘What do you plan to do about your wrinkles and your ageing skin?’ There’s definitely a double standard. But again, we want to be ageing! I think we want to be setting examples of how you can age. Every woman should do it how they want to do it. Some women want to address every single thing aesthetically, and some women want to be a fabulous French grandmother who doesn’t ever do anything. Everybody should be empowered to do it how they want to.”

‘My mom and dad were really big on meditation…’ Michael B. Jordan reveals how meditation keeps him calm

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael B. Jordan says the practice of mindful meditation is life changing.
The ‘Creed’ star’s parents, Donna and Michael A. Jordan, practiced the technique when Michael was a child and he also meditates each day to achieve a calm emotional state, something he would advocate for everyone.
Speaking to The Hollywood reporter, he said: “I’ve been meditating for a long time. Even growing up, my mom and dad were really big on meditation so I’m fortunate to have a pretty good relationship with meditation that goes back awhile. It’s really catered to the person and if you can do three minutes, amazing. If you can do 10 minutes, amazing. If you do 10 minutes, I can guarantee that it will change your day-to-day tremendously.”
Growing up in a spiritual household made Jordan appreciate the art of meditation and practice verbal affirmations.
He said: “I don’t really do guided meditations as much, but verbal affirmations and breathing are really important. Taking deep breaths to reset, sometimes a simple three or even seven breaths can help. If you take time to close your eyes and take deep breaths, you can reset your entire mood and energy in a really, really big way.”
Jordan – who was cast in 1999 in ‘The Sopranos’ at the age of 12 – said becoming an actor impacted his relationship with fitness.
He said: “As far as fitness, getting in shape and working out, I feel like I’ve always been an athletic person and very competitive. It started for me from having that competitive nature. That was the initial driving force for me as a young person. Then, you start to realize how everything else factors into your health, from what you eat and what you put into your body.
“Being an actor also had an impact as I learned from the physical roles I’ve played like Vince Howard [on ‘Friday Night Lights’]. Playing a high school football player to the boxing roles I’ve done [in ‘Creed’], I learned about training and how to keep up my body as it’s a direct reflection of the success you have on screen.”

‘I wanted vanity out of the picture…’ Florence Pugh explains motivation for buzzcut

OHMYGOSSIP — Florence Pugh shaved her head to take the “vanity out of the picture”.
The ‘Oppenheimer’ actress caused a buzz on the red carpet when she walked the red carpet at the 2023 Met Gala in May sporting a cropped hairstyle.
Pugh said the decision to shear all her hair off was deliberate to protect herself as an actress. By changing her appearance, she believes she can produce more convincing on-screen performances.
Speaking to Radio Times magazine, she said: “I purposefully chose to look like that. I wanted vanity out of the picture.
“Hollywood is very glamorous – especially for women – and it’s hard for an audience to see past that. Whenever I’ve not needed to be glam or have a full face of makeup, I fight to keep it that way. It helps the audience. Vanity is gone.
“The only thing that people can look at then is your raw face.”
The 27-year-old British star – who made her acting debut in 2014 drama film ‘The Falling’ – says she has constantly been fighting to have control her own image.
She explained: “Even at the beginning of my career, I was always fighting to control my image. It helps me when I’m wearing less makeup because then I’m less of a sparkly thing on screen. I feel like I’m allowed to do ugly faces, like it’s more acceptable.”
Pugh believes that opting to wear less makeup has helped her land unconventional roles as Hollywood glamour can serve as a distraction.
She added: “I’ve loved stretching any size of role, any obscure character.
“There are things where I don’t know how I mustered the courage – but I pushed myself off the cliff and hoped the wings came out.”

Kendall Jenner: I’m most confident with natural makeup

OHMYGOSSIP — Kendall Jenner says natural makeup makes her feel her “most confident”.
The 27-year-old supermodel – who is a member of the Kardashian clan – is one of the most in-demand women for the catwalk and for advertising campaigns.
Recently, Kendall was appointed as the newest brand ambassador for Parisian beauty brand Loreal, a coveted title that has been held by other A-listers such as Kate Winslet, Courteney Cox and Dame Helen Mirren.
Despite her ever changing runway looks, Kendall says au naturel is her go-to look.
She told Harper’s Bazaar: “I feel my most confident when I’m wearing a more natural makeup look. I like to emphasize glowing skin and a neutral lip.”
Kendall has always been candid about her debilitating struggle with acne admitting it knocked her confidence and ruined her self-esteem, however, these days it seems to be a thing of the past.
She explained: “Acne has always been something I’ve struggled with, and it has made me particular when it comes to the coverage-specific products I choose. These days I gravitate towards lightweight products, so I can really give my skin a chance to breathe.”
Kendall was required to wear heavy makeup in the early days of her modelling career, and the high volume of products contributed to her acne issues.
She said: “Over time I have learned a lot about what works on my face from countless days on set. My makeup artist, Mary Phillips, has also taught me a lot. So, with time I’ve gotten decent at doing my makeup. I keep it very simple, though – it’s all about glowing skin and a good lip for me.”

She rally is a Barbie girl! Margot Robbie’s red carpet looks for ‘Barbie’ premieres inspired by doll’s most iconic looks from last 64 year

OHMYGOSSIP — Margot Robbie’s ‘Barbie’ red carpet looks are inspired by the doll’s most iconic looks from the last 64 years.
The actress, 33, who plays a live version of the Mattel toy in Greta Gerwig’s new film alongside Ryan Gosling, 42, as Ken, has dressed for its premieres in outfits created for Barbie as far back as her creation in 1959.
Margot told People: “We’re finding Barbie references from decades past and just doing it really for the big Barbie fans out there, people who are actually collecting those Barbies.”
The LA premiere of the film saw Margot wear a custom Schiaparelli recreation of the black cocktail dress worn by the 1960 ‘Solo in the Spotlight’ Barbie.
She added: “We’re hoping to get (collectors and fans) excited…we’re pairing Barbie references with great designers.”
Barbie creator Ruth Handler always intended for fashion to be a major part of the doll’s appeal.
She became fed up with the lack of toy options for girls, who typically could choose between baby dolls or paper dolls to play with, and created one through which they could embody their future dreams in part by dressing her in different outfits.
Margot’s other red carpet looks have included a take of the ‘Pink and Fabulous Barbie’ from 2015.
To recreate the flirty pink polka dot outfit, inspiration was taken from a maroon polka dot halter neck midi dress from Valentino’s Spring/Summer 1993 collection.
For Margot’s real-life take on the outfit, Valentino updated the design in a bright pink and white polka dot fabric and shortened the hem to be a mini dress, which was paired with a yellow Valentino Rockstud purse, white Manolo Blahnik pumps, and a set of Assael pearl earrings and matching bracelet.
The ‘Original 1959 Barbie’ look saw Margot wear a black and white strapless bandage dress from Hervé Legér to pay homage to Barbie’s monochrome striped one-piece swimsuit, which was accessorised with a pair of white Jacques Marie Mage cat eye sunglasses with blue lenses, Spinelli Kilcollin hoop earrings, and a pair of black Manolo Blahnik peep toe heeled mules.
Other looks recreated by Margot include the ‘Day to Night Barbie’ from 1985 which saw her switch between two outfits at the South Korea premiere of Greta’s movie.

Maya Jama’s stylist gushes she’s ‘fun, playful and sexy’

OHMYGOSSIP — Maya Jama’s stylist says she’s “fun, playful and sexy”.
The ‘Love Island’ host, 28, who took over fronting the ITV2 dating show earlier this year, has covered the August cover of British Vogue, but before her rise to fame, the presenter was known for her attention-grabbing ensembles – masterminded by is Rhea Francois, a Guyanese-British stylist based in North London, who has been Maya’s long-standing collaborator.
Rhea told Vogue: “I met Maya through assisting stylist Alizé Demange – mine and Maya’s dynamic just naturally grew, so Alizé gave me her blessing to take over styling Maya exclusively.
“We work so well together – she’s fun, playful and sexy, which I love – and when she has an idea, I take it away to think of how best to execute it in a way that feels her. My job is about making sure Maya looks and feels her best, most authentic self.”
One of Maya’s most striking recent looks was displayed during the opening scene of the first episode of summer 2023’s ‘Love Island’, where the presenter made a grand entrance on a yacht – wearing a white halter-neck gown with a scooped back.
Rhea said: “I thought a modern twist on this sexy yet sophisticated vibe would involve showcasing the work of an exciting young talent like George Trochopoulos.”
Another standout moment dressing Maya this year was when she created her outfit for the 2023 BRIT Awards.
She said: “I absolutely loved the two looks – one was a black strapless Schiaparelli dress from the Haute Couture spring/summer 2020 collection, and the other was a silver cut-out dress by Georges Hobeika from the autumn/winter 2023 collection.
“It was a significant moment for me, because I’ve always wanted to dress Maya for the Brit Awards.”
She added about Maya’s August Vogue shoot: “I’m so excited for Maya, as I feel like she’s the first in her lane to ever get a Vogue cover – I’m over the moon, so proud and can’t wait to see the opportunities that come her way.”

‘I hate the term beauty!’ Julia Fox hits out at ‘oppressive’ make-up standards

OHMYGOSSIP — Julia Fox finds the term beauty “oppressive”.
The 33-year-old has carved out a name for herself as a fashionista who creates daringly kinky do-it-yourself outfits after she rose to fame thanks to her performance in Adam Sandler’s hit movie ‘Uncut Gems’.
But former dominatrix Julia, who is the new face of Isamaya Ffrench’s Industrial 2.0 collection, told Vogue: “I hate the term ‘beauty’. I find it oppressive. I wish we could take that word out of cosmetics. Because, for me, when I’m using make-up, and when I’m doing my skincare routine or whatever it may be, I’m not aiming to look beautiful.
“It has more to do with self-care. The version of me that wanted to look hot for guys just does not exist anymore. Being attractive used to be a currency that I could use to get out of a situation, but I changed a lot after becoming a mum. I started to see the subtle ways in which women are oppressed.
“Which is why I don’t subscribe to the patriarchal notion that women should try and look beautiful. Look how it affects women and young girls from a really early age: we see the lengths that women will go to, putting their lives at risk, even dying to be beautiful. So for me, make-up is about trying to express myself and be creative – it’s another art form.”
Julia added about her earliest memory of make-up: “I remember going to the pharmacy a block from my house when I was 10 and having so much fun with all the eyeshadows and lip glosses there. At the time I just wanted to seem older than I really was, which is funny because now I want to look younger than I really am.”
She added about how to stand out in the crowd with fashion: “I think the best advice I can give is: don’t follow trends. Don’t try to look like everybody else. “Don’t do something just because everyone else is doing it. The best thing you can do is to just stay true to who you are, and not allow yourself to be put in a box.
“When everyone goes to the right I like to go to the left, and do what other people aren’t doing. I want to show people that there isn’t just one reality, and that we don’t all need to look alike.
“A lot of people today on social media look like clones of each other. And that’s fine, but I just want to show girls that they can shine in their true identity, and be freaks.
“As cheesy as it is, the best thing you can do in life is be yourself.”

Maya Jama’s £500 facials

OHMYGOSSIP — Maya Jama keeps her skin looking good by splashing out on £500 facials and microneedling.
The 28-year-old TV presenter uses specialist treatments to keep her complexion looking picture perfect with her facialist Shane Cooper – who she has been seeing for seven years – revealing the ‘Love Island’ star is a big fan of his £500 Exclusive Face Treatment which exfoliates. tones and uses LED phototherapy to treat conditions such as sun damage, hyperpigmentation and breakouts.

The medium-term goal is to get her body looking a certain way, but at the same time it’s about letting off some steam after a long week.”
