Tommy Hilfiger in row over Gigi Hadid collaboration

OHMYGOSSIP — Tommy Hilfiger have been issued with a cease and desist notice over their collaboration with Gigi Hadid.
Leather goods label GiGi New York are unhappy with the typography used in the Tommy X GiGi collection – which debuted on the runway and became available to buy last week – because they feel it could cause “consumer confusion”.
A statement from GiGi New York said: “GiGi New York issued a cease and desist order to Tommy Hilfiger last week after discovering the misuse of its mark on product and in marketing of handbags in Tommy Hilfiger’s autumn/winter 2016 collection.
“Recognising the obvious potential for consumer confusion, GiGi New York requested that Tommy Hilfiger cease and desist its misuse and work in partnership to prevent consumer confusion based on the misuse.
“GiGi New York’s mark utilises a unique upper and lower case treatment that Tommy Hilfiger has copied, causing additional consumer confusion, despite this typographical treatment having no history of use by its spokesperson.”
Tommy Hilfiger are not said to be “concerned” about any confusion.
The statement continued: “Tommy Hilfiger has notified GiGi New York that they do not intend to recognise their rights in GiGi’s trademarked logo and are not concerned about the consumer confusion engendered by their misuse.”
The brand claims to have had common law property rights since 2010 and also to “own federal trademarks for its ‘GIGI’ family of marks.”
They added: “Similar trademarks are held throughout Europe, and GiGi New York is positioned to defend them on both continents.”
Tommy Hilfiger have not yet officially commented on the claims.

Sarah Jessica Parker only has one make-up look

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Jessica Parker wears the same eye make-up every day.
The ‘Sex and the City’ actress – who has children James, 13, and Tabitha and Loretta, seven, with husband Matthew Broderick – is known for her smoky eye, but admits it is because she doesn’t know any other way to use her cosmetics.
She said of her smoky eye: “It’s all I can do! I wear Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Jungle. I wear it almost every single day of my life, even if I’m only doing dishes and wiping rear ends.”
And the 51-year-old actress admits her favourite product is hard to remove – but she doesn’t care if it stays on “for days”.
She added: “And I don’t care if it’s there for days – it’s doesn’t move so when I wash my face at night, or if I wash my face in the shower and it doesn’t come off, I do not care.
“She launched it a few years ago and before that I would use a black pencil with a really good sponge on the back end from Prescriptives – I’d break the pencil so it would fit in my purse and I could mess my eyes up with it. But when Laura came out with the Caviar Stick, everything changed.
“You have to blend it quickly, while it still has some warmth and movement in it, then it’s cooked. And you just keep adding and adding.
“Jungle is my favourite but I also love Khaki, Plum and Tuxedo. I always make sure I’m well stocked.”
The ‘I Don’t Know How She Does It’ actress also admitted she doesn’t have “the skills” to style her locks properly without help so doesn’t do much with her hair when she isn’t working.
She told Vogue.co.uk: “I use Serge Normant’s shampoo and conditioner always – that’s the truth and if you went to my hotel bathroom right now you’d be like, ‘She’s not kidding!’
“He also has a really great mask that I try to use in the summer when I’m not working as much. I use his Dream Big Instant Volumizing Spray which I go crazy for because I don’t have the skills to really do hair. In my own life I just wash it and go to sleep, I have wavy hair so I use that to just give it some dirt.”

Michael Kors' clothes need to be seen

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Kors thinks his clothes can’t be fully appreciated in pictures.
The 57-year-old designer showcased his new 1940s-influenced collection at New York Fashion Week on Wednesday (14.09.16) and “adores” the fact people need to see the garments close up to truly understand their beauty.
He said: “I adore the fact that in an age where so many people live on their phones, these are clothes you can’t fully appreciate from an Instagram picture.
“You have to see them in person”.
Michael’s influences for the collection were strength and romance, and he wants people to think “in a different way” about how to use their clothes to grab attention – favouring something that is “chic, glamorous and powerful”, rather than shocking.
He told Telegraph Fashion: “We’re talking to Hollywood and trying to get them to think in a different way.
“Forget about going naked or wearing a train. This is about chic, glamour and power.”
Though the designer’s fashion empire brought in $917.5 billion in 2015, Michael insists he has “no idea” about the financial side of the business and simply bases his success on whether he sees women wearing his creations as they offer physical proof of his popularity.
He admitted: “I have no idea about numbers.
“I’ve just always thought that if I see women carrying my bags or wearing my clothes, then I must be doing my job”.

Emily Ratajkowski explains going braless

OHMYGOSSIP — Emily Ratajkowski thinks certain bras make her look “hypersexualised”.
The ‘Gone Girl’ actress used to envy girls with smaller breasts because they could wear revealing garments without people getting “offended”, but she has now realised she sometimes looks more natural and “sexy” if she goes without supportive underwear than if she dons a cleavage-boosting bra.
She said: “I remember being really jealous of girls who had small breasts because they could wear cool T-shirts or have this cute underboob and no one was ever offended. You see that all the time, girls who have less breasts they get away with a lot.
“That’s awesome, but I just decided that sometimes push-up bras or bras in general can sort of change the natural shape of my breasts anyway and they become hypersexualised so it’s actually in some ways it’s much more chic and much more natural and a lot more sexy in a certain way to be braless.”
When she does opt to wear a bra, Emily likes to keep things simple.
She explained: “No pads, underwire! That’s it!”
And the outspoken star insisted no one else should care whether or not someone is wearing a bra.
She told Elle.com: “It’s no one’s business except your own! That is the thing that all women should know and that’s what our culture needs to know.
“We associate boobs with trashiness because we don’t see it as something beautiful or we see them as something vulgar because it’s scary.
“I think a lot of people, you know, it gives them power to be able to dictate what people should or should not wear. I’d like to see that stopped.”

Bella Hadid's runway fall

OHMYGOSSIP — Bella Hadid tripped on the runway at Michael Kors’ New York Fashion Week show.
The 19-year-old model was able to see the funny side as she tumbled to the ground in sky-high heels on Wednesday (14.09.16), but remained professional and quickly got back to her feet to finish the presentation.
And showing she isn’t afraid to laugh at herself, Bella tweeted afterwards: “Guys I’m a professional break dancer now I forgot to tell u (sic)”
She also shared a video of herself on the runway on Instagram, alongside a face-hiding emoji as she acknowledged the footage was shot just before her fall.
She wrote: Michael Kors today[heart] Thank you so much for having me in the show @michaelkors @johndavidpfeiffer (seconds before [hiding face]) (sic)”
Bella quickly put her embarrassment behind her as hours later she joined older sister Gigi Hadid in walking in Anna Sui’s show – wearing considerable sturdier-looking footwear.
Bella recently admitted she would like to pursue an acting career one day – but only when her modelling days come to an end as she prefers to give her all to one thing at a time.
She said: “I would like to act, eventually. But I don’t want to do half-and-half. When I’m working for something, I’m very focused, and I put in a lot of hard work and a lot of training.
“I want to give 100 per cent to modelling for as long as it takes, and then when I feel that it’s time to move on, I’d very much like to try acting. And I think I would like to be an actress―or at least I’d like to see if I’m any good.”

Zandra Rhodes was ready for archive collection

OHMYGOSSIP — Zandra Rhodes thinks it is the right time to release her archive-inspired collection.
The 75-year-old designer has teamed up with MatchesFashion for a special collaboration which pays homage to 10 of her most famous dresses and she thinks modern technology has given the garments a “fresher” feel.
He said: “I’ve talked about it a few times with some great people but it just never felt progressive before as it does now. I have exactly the right team in place to do it to our best ability, this – partnered with Matchesfashion.com and their digital trunk shows – has allowed me to do the bits I love best about my work and allows me to work at a pace that is respectful to my atelier, my craft and the environment.
“Even though I print in a very traditional way, I feel technology makes the whole thing feel different. For me it feels fresher, not just doing the same old, selling the same clothes in the same way.”
But Zandra admits it was hard to pare down the collection to just 10 pieces.
She told Vogue.co.uk: “It wasn’t easy to choose just the 10, there’s enough for quite a few of these collections if I’m honest.
“One of my favourite prints though is Star Wars, which features on the skirt of the Frida Dress, with a Mexican collection circular print on the top. I think mixing my prints and how they are placed on the body is what makes my work uniquely mine.
“The Diana Dress is very special as it’s such a limited edition. There has only been one before now, as it was a collaboration with the Princess and myself, that one is on permanent display at Kensington Palace in the Style Rules Redefined exhibition.
“We’ve altered the shade of cherry-blossom pink slightly in respect for the original, but it feels meaningful to be able to not only celebrate such a great woman but an amazing time in my career.”

Michelle Williams embraces red carpet evolution

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Williams loves looking at her old red carpet pictures.
The 36-year-old actress admits she always seemed out of her depth at glitzy events in the early days of her career, but she enjoys looking back so she can see how much she has changed and grown up.
She said: “”I like feeling like I’ve grown up.
“I like having acceptance for both ways of being, but wow, those early red carpets were… I sort of look like, um, you know when you see a deer on the highway or something, and it’s just sort of like poked out of the forest, and it’s like, ‘What? Where am i? What’s going on? This doesn’t look… I’m not supposed to be here!”
And the former ‘Dawson’s Creek’ star – who has a 10-year-old daughter, Matilda, with late ex-boyfriend Heath Ledger – even carries around one of her first ever formally-dressed pictures in her wallet because she has “so much sympathy” for how “bad” she looked back then.
She admitted to People magazine: “I found this picture recently, and it’s of some school dance or something that I went to, and I… look… so… bad.
“But I put it in my wallet, and I carry it around with me because I have so much sympathy for that girl and that’s probably what I looked like at maybe, you know the first red carpet that I went to, just really, really out of my depth.”

Brooklyn Beckham lands Pull and Bear campagn

OHMYGOSSIP — Brooklyn Beckham is the new face of Pull&Bear.
The 17-year-old aspiring photographer – who is the son of David and Victoria Beckham – can be seen skateboarding in a new promotional clip for the Spanish high street brand.
In the 16-second video, he says: “We all have a place in the world. Jump barriers and be in the right place.”
Company bosses also tweeted an image of Brooklyn in a hoodie alongside the message: “We have a very special guest coming to join us at the #PullAndBearHouse. Stay tuned.”
Brooklyn will be visiting the firm’s eco-efficient headquarters in Naron, norther Spain on September 22, and also visiting a new Pull&Bear store in nearby Ferrol, which aims to integrate people with disabilities into the workplace.
An announcement on the chain’s website said: “A trip from London, his hometown, to the new Pull&Bear eco-efficient headquarters in Spain to support the new staff of Pull&Bear’s “for&from” store, a project for social and labour integration of people with any kind of physical or mental disability.”
After being given a VIP tour of the company headquarters, Brooklyn will then be guest of honour at a glamorous music festival, which will feature over 1,000 guests from the fashion, art and culture worlds.
The news comes just weeks after it was revealed Brooklyn had landed £100,000 to star in a commercial for Chinese mobile phone company Huawei.
A source previously said of the deal: “Huawei went for Brooklyn because he’s young, well-presented and seen as a good role model for kids his age.
“He’s got millions of social media followers and this is a good way to engage a load of youngsters.
“People will think he’s only got this job because of his rich parents bur he doesn’t take anything for granted.”

Gigi Hadid hates trying on clothes

OHMYGOSSIP — Gigi Hadid hates trying on clothes.
The 21-year-old model never checks to see if anything fits when she goes shopping, as she’d rather get everything home and then send things back if they’re not suitable because she spends so much of her time at work getting things fitted properly.
She said: “If I’m going shopping, I’ll go to Saks because I want everything to be in one store. I also love Topshop.
“I like to buy pieces, go home, try them on, and return what I don’t want because the lines are usually way too long.
“My job is to try things on, so I try not to do it too much of it on my day off.”
To stay in shape, Gigi doesn’t enjoy the gym as she likes to pursue something she can improve at and have the support of a coach, so has discovered boxing is her ideal workout.
She told Harper’s Bazaar magazine: “I rode horses and played volleyball back home, so when I came to New York it was hard for me to just go to the gym. I need to have a sport that wakes me up and that I can get better at, and boxing does that for me.
“I usually go to Gotham Gym in the West Village. My boxing trainer has become my coach. The coach-player thing has been really important my whole life.
“My work ethic obviously comes from my parents, but it was really pounded into me by my coaches, so it’s key that I have that to feel good in the city and at home. They’re like my brothers. It’s great.”
While the blonde beauty generally sticks to a healthy diet, she’ll happily give into her cravings for a burger in order to stay “sane”.
She said: “My personal motto is ‘Eat clean to stay fit, have a burger to stay sane,’ so if I’m in the mood I’ll go to JG Melon in the West Village.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Jenner is selling her limited edition birthday lipgloss again.
The ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ star tried to encourage fans to spend $195 on her exclusive birthday bundle last month because it was only going to be available “for one time only” but it seems she’s now had a change of heart as she’s decided to make her rouge matte lipstick and liner called Leo, which was part of the make-up pack, available to buy on its own this week.
Taking to her Snapchat account on Tuesday (13.09.16), she said: “Leo back this Thursday (15.09.16) at 10am pst (sic)”

Hailee Steinfeld too busy at Fashion Week

OHMYGOSSIP — Hailee Steinfeld is too busy to wash her hair during New York Fashion Week.
The 19-year-old actress is constantly rushing from show to show so always has a kit of beauty essentials to help her stay looking her best, including dry shampoo to keep her locks in check.
She said: “You know a powder is good when you’re running around and it’s freaking hot as New York City is in September. That’s always key. A lip, obviously, even though I’m not very good at touching up my lip — I need reminders. And a phone charger.
“Dry shampoo is a must.”
The ‘True Grit’ star admits it is extremely “stressful” trying to manage her time to ensure she gets to all the shows, especially when impractical but fashionable outfits make it hard to be comfortable.
She told People Style: “Having to be places on time with traffic and distance and getting ready and wearing things that you literally can’t sit in a car straight up in with a seat belt on like normal people. That’s probably the most stressful thing.”
But while her schedule may be hectic, Hailee adores the “madness” of New York Fashion Week and finds it “pretty special” being involved.
She said: “There’s nothing that you could compare New York Fashion Week to.
“You’re walking down the street and you see models catching cabs and going from show to show and it’s something you don’t see anywhere else.
“Then again having the honour to be involved in it and going to shows and meeting designers and seeing the work that goes into a show that lasts minutes is amazing … It’s pretty special.”

Ralph Lauren moving to see now, buy now

OHMYGOSSIP — Ralph Lauren thinks the traditional fashion calendar is “over”.
The 76-year-old legendary designer is planning to follow the likes of Tom Ford, Tommy Hilfiger, and Burberry’s Christopher Bailey, in making his collection available to buy as soon as his New York Fashion Week runway show is over on Wednesday (14.09.16), and thinks it is important the fashion world adapts to changing technology.
He said: “Showing clothes, then delivering them six months later… it’s over.
“With the Internet, social media… you have to change.”
Ralph isn’t fazed by the huge change to his business model because he has always been open to adapting and evolving.
He told Vogue.com: “I’ve always looked at the business as an evolution. We’re never standing still, and we’re never chasing anyone. Everything is a new chapter.
“I’ve been through it before, when nothing moves. When everything is available, how do you do specialness? How do you create magic?”
And the veteran designer admits one of the problems fashion faces these days is that it is just one element of how people express themselves these days so they want more from the industry.
He said: “Where you see most of the excitement now is in food.
“Restaurants, where to go, what’s healthy: That’s the sensibility that’s happening. There are more diverse ideas about living. The world is into experience, so you’ve got to give experience.”
Ralph had initially planned to keep his see now, buy now, plan for the 45-piece fall collection under wraps until the show, which will take place outdoors in front of his women’s flagship store on Madison Avenue.
He told WWD:”See now, buy now gives you the ability to be right there where the action is.
“We wanted to do this without telling anybody. We think it’s the right thing to do.”

Jonathan Saunders keeps wrap dress qualities for DVF

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonathan Saunders is moving Diane Von Furstenberg “abstractly” away from the fashion house’s iconic wrap dress.
The Scottish designer was named chief creative officer of the brand in May this year and his first collection – which he presented to small groups of editors in lieu of a big show at the weekend – doesn’t include any of the classic wardrobe staple that DVF is best known for.
Instead, Jonathan wanted his silk handkerchief dresses, one-shoulder tops, and wide-leg pants with folded-over waists to have the same “elegant and sensual” qualities of the wrap dresses.
He told Elle.com: “You just have to think more abstractly.
“You think about what a wrap dress is–it’s an effortless dress that you can put on very easily. It’s flattering. It’s kind of elegant and sensual at the same time.
“[When designing] I had to ask myself: Is it effortless? Is it sensual?”
And Jonathan – who has taken over creative control from the fashion house’s eponymous founder – has pledged to maintain the “values” of the brand while giving it a modern makeover.
He told Fashionista: “It’s a great brand to work with.
“All of the values that Diane started the brand with — effortlessness, easy, femininity — all of those values are so important to hold onto, and then print and colour, which I love and has always been a part of what I do.”
The 39-year-old designer admitted his new role is a “challenge” but insists the position is “amazing”.
He said: “Diane is the founder of the company – she has amazing understanding of what women want and how they feel and how they dress.
“It’s been an amazing position to walk into and it’s quite a good challenge.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lily Aldridge felt “giddy” shooting her Bulgari campaign.
The 30-year-old model has been named the new face of the brand and she admitted donning “millions of dollars” worth of jewellery for the advertisement pictures were a “dream come true” – though she felt nervous when she realised their value.
She said: “I mean, getting to wear these millions of dollars worth of jewellery is every girl’s dream come true.
“It’s really exciting and then when you find out the prices you kind of get all giddy.”
Lily – who will lead global campaigns for the brand for the next year – admits her Italian heritage means working for Bulgari is a huge “honour”.
She said during a news conference unveiling her spokesmodel role: “I am Italian, my family comes from Italy so to be the ambassador of such an iconic Italian brand is such an honour for me.”
The Victoria’s Secret beauty admitted Bulgari have been “very generous” with her, gifting her two rings, one from the Serpenti collection and the other from B.zero1.
She noted of the latter: “They gave me this ring while shooting the campaign, and I wear it every day.”
But Lily – who is married to Kings of Leon rocker Caleb Followill – also has her eye on another piece in the collection.
She said: “I’ve been dying to get one of these serpentine chokers forever. It’s something I’ve wanted for a long time so maybe my husband will read this and buy it for me.”
Lily follows in the footsteps of Carla Bruni Sarkozy, Julianne Moore and Rachel Weisz as the face of the brand and knows sh has “big shoes to fill”.

Kendall Jenner had style struggles

OHMYGOSSIP — Kendall Jenner has never felt as stylish as her sisters.
The 20-year-old supermodel has never naturally known how to dress well thinks it is only recently she has finally hit her “style stride”, thanks to a look she and her sister Khloé Kardashian describe as “rockstar’s wife”.
She said: “I was just thinking the other day, I’ve never inherently had good style like my sisters. Kylie always had it together, and I was annoyed with myself for being so unsure.
!More recently, I’ve finally hit my style stride: It’s that vintage, cool-girl grungy look. Khloé calls it ‘rockstar’s wife’ — SO good, right? I think once I identified that vibe, I realised I can dress how I feel and still be cool.”
The ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ star and her sisters all turn to stylist Monica Rose for assistance with their wardrobes and Kendall admits it is “annoying” when her younger sister Kylie Jenner gets credited for launching a look which she herself has worn days before.
She wrote on her website and app: “Since Monica styles most of us, it’s funny to see which sister actually gets ‘credit’.
“Since Kylie is such a street-style girl, people always think she started something — so annoying, lol. I wore a ripped rocker tee with my bralette one day and she did the same thing the very next! We’ve always been at war over clothes, haha!”
Kendall’s rockstar’s wife look has seen her favour ripped t-shirts over an exposed bralette and Monica recently admitted she shreds the garments during fittings when they are “in the moment”.
She explained: “The cutting of the shirts just recently started because whenever we’re in fittings and we’re in the moment, and I feel like something needs to be cut, I’ll literally take out my scissors and start cutting.
“I’m like, ‘Keep turning, keep turning, keep turning.’
“I think it also came from having such cool bralettes and really cool undergarments, that I kinda wanted a peekaboo of it.
“And who wouldn’t wear a crop top if you had Kendall Jenner’s body? On some [she’s doing them herself], but most fittings we do cuttings.”

Design 'geek' Victoria Beckham

OHMYGOSSIP — Victoria Beckham was a “geek” when it came to designing her make-up range.
The 42-year-old fashion designer has worked on her first cosmetics collection in collaboration with Estee Lauder and was very well prepared when it came to the design process.
She said: “When they first approached me they came to my house in LA and I had an entire dining room table of things that I have collected over the years.
“I have done so many photo shoots, red carpets, and worked with the best make-up artists and I really had a point of view. I gave them lipsticks I mixed up, and eye shadows that I loved.
“I had a lot of make-up bags full and knew what I wanted to create. It was the key make-up things I wanted, but haven’t been able to find. I have learnt so much over the years and want to share my tips. Ultimately I really like women and want women to feel good.”
One of the things Victoria took into account when creating
the products was the selfie culture.
She explained in a Facebook chat with the Daily Telegraph: “Everybody has to be camera ready nowadays everybody constantly wants to do selfies and it’s no different to me to everyone else.”
Victoria unveiled her latest fashion collection at New York Fashion Week over the weekend and hopes her pieces are both sexy and flattering.
She said: “I think you can look sexy in – well I’d like to think I look a little bit sexy today! Sexy is about the way you wear something and being confident – the clothes are sexy and flattering.
“I’ve said right from the beginning it’s very important clothes are flattering. I want a woman to look and feel like the best version of herself.”
