Lily Aldridge feared she would cry during first Victoria’s Secret Fashion show

OHMYGOSSIP — Lily Aldridge feared she would burst into tears when she first walked in a Victoria’s Secret Fashion show. The 30-year-old model, who began her modelling career at the age of 16 and gained her angel wings for the lingerie giant in 2010, was so overwhelmed with emotion prior to making her debut on the runway for Victoria’s Secret she avoided talking to anyone in fear she would cry.

Speaking to PEOPLE about the brunette beauty and her first catwalk show with the brand, fellow model, Jasmine Tookes, said: “Lily [Aldridge] spoke to me about it. And she was like, Oh my God, this is such an emotional thing.

“And she told me that during the first VS [Victoria’s Secret] show, the first taping, that she was crying backstage and couldn’t really talk to anybody because she was scared that she was going to cry down the runway. She was like, ‘It’s just overwhelming and such an exciting time, just live it up and take every moment in.'”

Jasmine, who is set to follow in Lily’s footsteps and wear the highly coveted underwear piece, which is laden with precious jewels during this year’s fashion show in Paris, France, has revealed wearing the show stopping piece is a “milestone for her”.

She explained: “I think it’s such a milestone for me because I am an African-American girl and there hasn’t been many in the past that have worn a Fantasy Bra. I think that’s a huge thing, and I am honoured to be able to represent that for the brand.”

And Jasmine, 25, has revealed she shares a close bond with the Victoria’s Secret angels and has described her fellow models as a “whole sisterhood”.

She said: “It’s like a little sorority. We’re all really close and hang out on the weekends. It’s really cool to have this whole sisterhood.”

Nicole Kidman has kept her ’24-carat gold antique gloves’ for 16 years

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicole Kidman has kept her “24-carat gold antique gloves” for 16 years. The 49-year-old actress has admitted she has kept the “fingerless gloves” she wore to the Oscars in 2000, which she wore with a chartreuse-coloured, asymmetric gown, and the star has revealed the “combination” of jewellery and a show stopping outfit and the final look is important to her.

Speaking about her most treasured possession to ET Online, the flame-haired beauty said: “I think I like the Dior… you know, the chartreuse that I wore.

“There was another beautiful gold Dior that no one comments on but was probably one of my favourites. And I got to wear, like, the most beautiful 24-carat gold antique gloves that I still own – fingerless gloves. There’s just different things. I mean, so much of it for me is the combination of jewellery and dresses and the way it’s all put together.”

And the ‘Australia’ star has revealed her love for fashion began at an early age and stemmed from her late mother Janelle, who used to design and make her clothes including her end of year ball at school.

She explained: “I think because I grew up with a mother who could sew, she would make all my clothes for me ever since I was little.
“So I was able to think things up and tear stuff out of magazines when I got to be a teenager, and she would make them for my sister and I. So, our prom dresses, my mom made.

“I think that’s probably why I love clothes so much because I watch them … and really, I love couture because of that – because I know what it takes to make things, and the mastery in a couture dress takes my breath away – still takes my breath away.”

Jo Malone predicts her mother Eileen's mood by smell

OHMYGOSSIP — Jo Malone could predict her mother Eileen’s mood by her scent.
The 53-year-old entrepreneur – who founded her eponymous perfumerie and scented candle brand, which has since been sold to Estée Lauder – has revealed her strong sense of smell enabled her to predict the weather, how long ago her father Peter had packed up his oil paints and how her parent was feeling by the fragrance she wore.
Speaking about her earliest memories of perfumes, she said: “One was Eau Sauvage on my dad, on his crisp white linen shirts. On my mum, it was Je Reviens, Jean Patou and Ma Giffe.
“I knew her mood by what perfume she was wearing.
“I could smell when it was going to rain. I could smell my dad’s oil paint and I knew how long his oil paints had been out.
“If I look at a scene, I’ll look at all the pieces as though I’m hearing a piece of music and I’ll hear all these notes, but with my nose, and I’ll put them all together, lock them all together. That’s how I’ve always created fragrance.
“It just happens so unconsciously and subconsciously to me that I’m not registering. With colour, while you will see colour, I will smell it first. If I feel texture, the same thing will happen, or if I hear music, I will smell fragrance.”
And the beauty entrepreneur – who is working on her new brand Jo Loves – has described herself as “an artist in fragrance”.
She said: “I think of myself as a shopkeeper and an artist with fragrance. I like being a shopkeeper.”
Despite battling with breast cancer, Jo has revealed she still has a strong work ethic.
She told Hello! magazine: “I love getting up and going to work every day and doing everything”.

Gigi Hadid felt Tommy Hilfiger 'trusted' her to design her own collection

OHMYGOSSIP — Gigi Hadid felt Tommy Hilfiger “trusted” her to design the Tommy Hilfiger x Gigi Hadid range on her own.
The 21-year-old supermodel, who was announced as the brand’s global ambassador in December 2015 and has since designed her own capsule for the fashion house, has admitted she didn’t know what to expect as a “first time designer” but was grateful Tommy was “supportive” and welcomed her ideas.
Speaking to Vogue.me about her first foray into creating her own collection, the blonde beauty said: “Obviously as a first time designer you don’t really know what you’re going in to and I got a great first try because I don’t have to do all the executing, I get to work with a team that is already so professional with what they do and so great. So I only got to do the fun part really.
“My first design meeting Tommy [Hilfiger] was there and then the second one, he was there for a little bit and then just let me do it on my own, and I think that that was nice, because I felt he like he trusted me and he has just been really supportive and open and welcome to my opinions.”
And although Gigi – who launched a fragrance for the brand called The Girl earlier this year – doubted her ability, she felt reassured the 65-year-old fashion designer handpicked her.
She added: “He picked me because he knows my attention to detail and all that kind of stuff, so I think he knew what he was getting into, he chose me.”
And the catwalk icon has revealed she was “surprised” how difficult she found being both the designer and the model.
She explained: “I think what surprised me that was difficult was that I was obviously designing but I was also the fit model, so having to put the clothes on myself and pin them on myself, and all that stuff, kind of got a bit difficult. But it was a great experience.”
However, Gigi has admitted she “prefers” being a model to a designer because she is “passionate” about pictures.
She said: “I prefer being a model because I am passionate about making pictures. I obviously love clothes but I think it is fun to do on the side as a hobby more.”

Gigi Hadid doesn't 'remember' when she first started wearing high heels

OHMYGOSSIP — Gigi Hadid doesn’t “remember” when she first started wearing high heels.
The 21-year-old supermodel – who began modelling at the young age of two years old after being discovered by Guess’ Paul Marciano – has admitted she can’t recall the first time she began wearing platform shoes because she never cared about the footwear and was more excited about riding boots.
Speaking to Vogue.com about footwear, Gigi – who has co-designed a capsule for Stuart Weitzman called the Gigi Boot – said: “I don’t remember the first time I put on heels. Maybe because I didn’t really care. I cared more about getting a new pair of riding boots than I cared about putting on heels.”
Meanwhile, the blonde beauty – who signed to IMG modelling agency in 2013 and has starred in a number of campaigns for renowned fashion brands including Tommy Hilfiger, Balmain, and Miu Miu – has revealed she is overcome with “hot sweats” when she sees her photo blown up on billboards.
Speaking previously, she said: “Now when I see myself on a billboard I can’t go near the block. I get hot sweats. So I ask my friends to send pictures to me because I can’t go anywhere near it.”
And Gigi – who is currently dating ‘Pillowtalk’ hitmaker Zayn Malik – believes she “isn’t the best” model on the runway.
She said: “It’s funny because obviously I’m not the best on the runway.
“I never was taught how to walk on the runway and maybe that’s because it moved really quickly for me that people just assumed that was something I knew. I’m working on it.
And Gigi has credited social media for getting rid of the “dumb model stereotype”.
She said: “We’ve just been given a gift as a generation of being able to show our own personality and have so much control over the person we are to the public, and not just being a face on a page. I think social media has taken the dumb model stereotype away.”

Raf Simons is one of the 'most influential designers' in the fashion industry

OHMYGOSSIP — Raf Simons has been credited as one of the “most influential designers”.
The 48-year-old fashion designer – who launched his own eponymous label in 1995 – has been described as one of the most prominent figures on the “international fashion stage”.
Speaking about the Belgian creative mastermind to The Malay Mail Online, the President and CEO of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), Steven Kolb, said: “Raf is one of the most influential designers on the international fashion stage.
“His creativity and energy are a welcome addition as we continue to grow this important platform for American menswear.”
Meanwhile, Raf, who quit his role as the creative director of the luxury designer brand Dior earlier this year after three and a half years leading the womenswear department, has admitted he left the label because he wanted to focus on his own line.
Speaking previously about his departure, he said: “It’s a decision founded on one hand by my desire to concentrate on other centre of interest in my life, notably my own label, as well as the passions that motivate me beyond my professional activities.”
However, the fashion mogul believes the fashion industry should be “much more liberated” and would be more exciting if it was to function like a museum by allowing other designers to act as “guest curators” for other designers.
Speaking previously about the fashion realm and how he would like to develop it, he said: “I would be excited if Miuccia [Prada] would do the Raf Simons brand for a season, and then I would do a season for Marc Jacobs in New York, and Marc would do Prada; I think the audience would be totally excited by that.
“Maybe fashion should operate more like a museum, where you have a museum curator, but you have guest curators come in, too. I think that the fashion business has recently stopped exploring its own possibilities; it should become much more liberated once again.”
Raf is set to unveil his debut collection for Calvin Klein’s Autumn/Winter 2017 collection during Men’s Fashion Week in February next year.

Alexander Wang sells his Tribeca home for $3.5 million

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexander Wang has sold his Tribeca home for $3.5 million.
The 32-year-old fashion designer has reportedly put his luxurious pad on Worth Street, Manhattan, as he has decided to up sticks and relocate to West Chelsea, according to The New York Post.
It had been reported Alexander bought the 2,550 square foot, one bedroom, third floor loft, in 2010 for $2 million.
The abode boasts a large dressing room, as well as two bathrooms, with pre-war decor including restored tin ceilings, exposed white brick walls, and ebony stained hardwood floors.
The home also has oversized windows that look out across the American neighbourhood, a chef’s kitchen, as well as a large living room, dining and entertainment space.
Meanwhile the creative mastermind – who was the former creative director of the fashion house Balenciaga – has revealed he decided to embark on a career in the fashion industry, which saw him move to New York aged 19 to attend Parsons School of Design, because he didn’t like sport.
Speaking previously about his career, he said: “There’s no, like, my mum was a seamstress, or anything like that.
“I never really played sports after school like the other kids did. So instead I discovered fashion and magazines, and I kind of filtered everything through that. Even then, I knew fashion wasn’t just about designers. I loved Japanese street style magazines, and I was a big fanatic over models. I can still remember how excited I was when MTV did a show, ‘A Day in The Life of Gisele’, or something.”
Despite his collections frequently containing vast amounts of sportswear including mesh T-shirts and tracksuit bottoms, Alexander’s shunning of sport continues, as has confessed he never goes to the gym.
He said: “A lot of people find that surprising, but to me the point is that sportswear has a functionality to it. It’s what you see people wearing in the street, carrying in their bags. It has a very direct connection to our lives and that’s what I love about it – it’s not so much about being sporty as about being active and functional and easy.”

Gigi Hadid collaborates with designer Stuart Weitzman on the new Gigi Boot

OHMYGOSSIP — Gigi Hadid has collaborated with designer Stuart Weitzman on a new footwear line.
The 21-year-old supermodel – who has been the brand ambassador for the luxury fashion house for over a year – has unveiled her latest creation for the company called the Gigi Boot, which she co-designed, and the star has revealed the shoes were inspired by her hectic lifestyle in New York.
Speaking about her latest venture to Vogue Online, the blonde beauty said: “I was really thinking of myself in New York, running around everywhere during the day and at night.”
However the catwalk icon – who has starred in campaigns for designer houses including Tommy Hilfiger, Miu Miu and Balmain – has revealed the footwear range was “harder to execute” than previous clothing lines.
She explained: “I was always able to come up with the look for the shoe in my brain, but they were a bit harder to execute than clothing. These designs have the ability to go from sexy to sporty, and they have an agility to them but a gracefulness at the same time.”
However, Gigi was able to put a “unique, personal spin” on the designs because of her “creative vision”.
A spokesperson for the label said: “[Gigi was] inspired by the brand’s stellar boot reputation, but used her creative vision to put a unique, personal spin on the lace-up bootie silhouette.”
The heeled, lace-up combat boot, which comes in a black crocodile-calf leather material as well as gun-metal grey and copper, will see proceeds go towards Pencils of Promise charity to help build three new schools, one in Laos, Guatemala and Ghana.
The accompanying short film for the new garment titled ‘Do It Right’ was directed by James Franco and sees Gigi take to the ring to box.
However, Gigi has revealed she spent a gruelling “12 hours” in the shoes to shoot the clip, but the 38-year-old actor was “super positive” and supportive throughout the day.
She said: “I boxed for about 12 hours that day. I was obviously so tired toward the end of the shoot, and James was just super positive, and told me to embrace whatever I was feeling at that moment.”

Alek Wek thinks the fashion industry is 'embarrassing'

OHMYGOSSIP — Alek Wek thinks the fashion industry is “embarrassing”.
The 39-year-old model has admitted she thinks the business of fashion has taken a downward turn, and has reminded budding models breaking onto the fashion scene is a long process and you can’t just “walk straight onto the runway” but you have to take “baby steps”.
Speaking about the industry to the New York Post’s Page Six column, the catwalk icon said: “I think the fashion industry has gotten to a place where it is embarrassing. When I think of ‘Instagram models,’ I say you have to take baby steps. You cannot just walk straight onto the runway.
“Anything that those girls get for instant gratification, [they’ll] have to pay for it later.”
And Alek – who made her breakthrough at the age of 18 in 1995 and has fronted campaigns for luxury fashion houses including Moschino, Marc Jacobs and Jean Paul Gaultier – has revealed the industry has rapidly changed, as she has admitted she “actually worked” when she emerged as a model and would be shot using Polaroid photographs.
She explained: “When I was working, there was no digital. We actually worked, we used Polaroids.”
And the South Sudan-born star – who was scouted at a fair in London’s Crystal Palace park – has revealed her mother, Akuol, thought she was being cast as a Page 3 girl at first and Alek had to reassure her parent she had misunderstood.
Speaking previously, she said: “I had to point out that I wasn’t really built for that.
“There was no concept of fashion and catwalk shows where I came from.
“There were no magazines. I never saw women in make-up, or with different hairstyles. Absolutely not.”
However, Alek has credited her mother for giving her an added boost of confidence.
She said: “Our confidence came from my mother.
“She told us it was about celebrating the beauty of being a woman – that’s what made you gorgeous.”

When I’m making something, I always have someone in mind. For the navy blue suit, I was like, ‘Oh, my friend Gillian would love that.’ Or the trench for Tenessee. They’re my muses.'”
However, the star – who was scouted at the age of 16 by Storm Model Management – has revealed she is constantly worrying about how her collections are received by others because she doesn’t want disappoint anyone.
She explained: “Yes, I worry. It’s just a blanket worry I have in life. Not necessarily about approval. I’m kind of a Girl Guide, so I don’t want to let anyone down – especially not the brand that has brought me in to give them my opinions.”
The brunette beauty has admitted she was “less afraid” designing the forthcoming collection.
She said: “There was no pre-thought on the first one; I was so stuck on provenance and making sure that the pieces were exact replicas of the originals. This time, I was less afraid to tinker with things and make it slightly more appropriate for now.
“For this collection, I was thinking: what happens after dark? I wanted to make a tuxedo, I wanted 1970s disco, Studio 54. Fabric-wise, I thought it could be a bit more shiny. Synthetic, but in a good way. And I was thinking of photographers and imagery that I like, Guy Bourdin or Bryan Ferry. It’s kind of Roxy Music – a bit slinkier, a bit edgier.”

The 55-year-old fashion designer – who launched his eponymous label in 2004 – considers wearing a suit as “armour” and when he adorns anything other than a tailored garment he feels all out of sorts, although if he wears a pair of boots he feels “solid and grounded”.
Speaking about his wardrobe choices and select styling, the fashion muse said: “A suit is armour.
“You know, I’m not good in knitwear. I feel mushy and soft. I’m not good in anything but a boot. I feel solid and grounded. You got to learn in life what makes you feel comfortable in terms of clothing and that’s what you should wear. Some people look great in knitwear; that’s what they want to wear, they look good in it, it feels right for them.
“Trainers: I feel weak in trainers. I mean, I wear them when I’m at the gym, but I feel soft and I don’t like that.”
And the film director has admitted he adorned a sleek suit whilst shooting scenes for ‘Nocturnal Animals’, although he has revealed he accessorised with “cowboy boots and a cowboy hat” when he was in Texas.
He explained: “I wore it [a suit] on set, it’s a uniform. I’m comfortable, it suits who I am. Except the parts when we were in Texas, where I wore cowboy boots and a cowboy hat, which looks surprisingly good on me. Well, all of a sudden, 200 years of Texas pioneer background kind of genetically seems to just work on my head. And I don’t look like a fool.”
Meanwhile, Tom – who was the former creative director of the luxury fashion houses Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent – has admitted he takes a number of baths throughout the day because it’s his form of meditation.
He told The Guardian newspaper: “For me, it’s meditation. I take a bath in the morning, because the time I lie in the bathtub is when I work out all my problems. I think about the day, I think about what I’ve got to do. I think about nothing, I clear my head. Same in the evening, before dinner, I can’t go from work and out to a dinner and be good at a dinner – meaning be interesting and charming and be interested and listen to someone – unless I kind of wash away the day. The same at night, I can’t go to sleep unless I get in the bathtub and again, wash away the day. So it’s meditative for me, it’s not that I have some cleanliness obsession.”
