Angelina Jolie praised for clear ‘vision’ with Suleika Jaouad Batiste’s Oscars look

OHMYGOSSIP — Angelina Jolie had a clear “vision” for Suleika Jaouad Batiste’s Oscars dress.
The 35-year-old author attended the 2024 Academy Awards with husband Jon Batiste and she wore a dress created by the ‘Girl, Interrupted’ star, teamed with accessories from Neil Lane and the jeweller has revealed the Oscar-winning actress gave him a lot of direction when it came to the pieces she wanted to be teamed with the first gown to come out of her atelier.
Neil told People magazine: “Angelina has a beautiful exquisite style and grace, and she knew what she wanted.
“She wanted to use vintage diamond and gold jewellery because it has such a rich warm color and it fit in with her mission of repurposing and sustainability…
“She had a vision and she knew it.”
Angelina visited Neil at his showroom and described the dress to him, an upcycled silk piece featuring a painting of Jon conducting a symphony on the back by artist Chaz Guest, so he showed her pieces he thought would go with the gown and the actress quickly started to “put ensembles together”.
Suleika ultimately wore two necklaces, one which was made in France around 1875 and was set with antique rose-cut and old mine-cut diamonds, and an 1890 American piece featuring European cut diamonds in a hand-carved gold floral motif. She also wore diamond earrings from the late 19th century and a ring designed be Neil himself.
He said: “The ring I designed using a vintage fancy-shaped coloured diamond surrounded by rose-cut diamonds in a handmade rose gold setting…
“Of course, when I saw [Suleika’s look] at the Oscars, it was fabulous the way she had layered the necklaces, and it was a wonderful way to balance the abundance of the silk fabric. You could just see and feel Suleika’s beauty and joy. She was radiant.”
Suleika – who has been undergoing cancer treatment after her leukemia returned in 2021 – previously thanked Angelina for making her feel “so beautiful” on Oscars night.
She wrote on Instagram: “After being in treatment for the last two years, I have a real love-hate relationship with clothes. But Angelina made me feel so beautiful and so seen that my eyes kept welling up during our fitting.
“To have the story of American Symphony emblazoned on the literal fabric of my gown feels like a map of where we’ve been and how far we’ve come. It’s an embodiment of the love and the creative forces that have seen us through.”

‘I look like a tramp’: Luke Evans going stubble free

OHMYGOSSIP — Luke Evans has “finally accepted” that stubble “isn’t working” for him any more.
The 44-year-old actor has found his facial hair is now growing in grey and he thinks it makes him look like a “tramp”, so unless a role requires it, he’s vowed to be clean shaven from now on.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “I finally accepted that stubble isn’t working on my face anymore because I have grey stubble and I just look like a tramp, so now I have decided that I will be clean shaven until I have to grow it for a movie. I use a one-blade because you can also trim your hair on your ears.”
While he is keeping his stubble at bay, the ‘Nine Perfect Strangers’ actor is growing his hair, but has found the products he used to use on his locks “don’t work” any more.
Fortunately for Luke, he’s found a low-cost solution.
He said: ““My hair is getting much, much longer as I’m growing it, so the products I’ve had in my bag for years, don’t work on my hair anymore. And what I found works on my hair, weirdly, is conditioner.
“So I shower, dry my hair, and then I put conditioner in my hair. And I just leave it with conditioner, which is what I’ve got in my hair now. It’s cheap and it’s easy and it lets your hair shine.”
When he goes on holiday, the ‘Beauty and the Beast’ actor likes to wear a “good swim brief” because he doesn’t want tan lines on his legs.
He said: “I always pack a good swim brief. I’ve never understood there being a reason not to wear a swim brief — who wants a tan line halfway down your leg on the beach?
“If you’re surfing, you wear shorts, but when you’re on the beach — at least in Europe and Australia and other places around the world — the swim brief is the thing.
“You know, it does means that your leg day cannot be skipped.”

Victoria Beckham celebrates ‘dream come true’ at Paris fashion store

OHMYGOSSIP — Victoria Beckham has celebrated a “dream come true” after launching her fashion line at a famous Paris department store.
The Spice Girls star is thrilled her self-titled clothing brand is now stocked in a corner of the notable Galeries Lafayette flagship shop in the French capital and Victoria marked the occasion this week with a dinner for friends and colleagues in the store.
She told WWD of the achievement: “To have this space in France, it’s such a dream come true for me … Because of the success of Dover Street [store in London], we see such a huge potential internationally. So, yes, Paris, but also America for us as well. It’s about finding the right space. I think that’s very hard to find here in Paris.”
Victoria went on to insist she has a special relationship with the city, where her footballer husband David previously played for Paris Saint-Germain, calling it her “second home”.
She added: “We have friends here. We love the energy here, everything about it, so even before I had a fashion brand, we would spend regular weekends here. The children love it too …
“I feel so welcome here in Paris and have done ever since I started showing here so for me, it’s my second home”.
Victoria previously opened up about her design ideas for the brand, telling InStyle: “Ultimately, I like to challenge myself, design-wise.
“[The inspiration] varies each season. It might be a movie, a piece of art, or an exhibition. It might just be as simple as a silhouette, something that I feel feels fresh, something that I desire.”

Eiza Gonzalez recalls being told she was ‘too pretty’

OHMYGOSSIP — Eiza Gonzalez has missed out on film roles because she’s “too pretty”.
The 34-year-old actress has suggested that her good looks have actually harmed her career, adding that Latinas are held to a different standard.
The brunette beauty told InStyle: “I remember being [told for] so many projects, ‘She’s too pretty for the role. She’s too hot for the role’. Then I’d just be like, What is Margot Robbie? She’s the hottest, most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in my life!”
Eiza suffered an “identity crisis” at one point in her career, with the actress admitting that she’s considered shaving her head in a bid to boost her prospects.
The ‘Baby Driver’ star shared: “I had an identity crisis for a very long time.
“I was like, ‘Do I shave my head? Do I make myself less attractive? Do I make myself more attractive? Do I not dress super-hot or do I dress super-hot or do I cover myself all the time?'”
Meanwhile, Eiza previously called for greater representation for Latinas in the fashion and beauty industry, after she appeared in a campaign for Louis Vuitton.
The actress – who was born in Mexico City – told Vogue: “I grew up watching all these beauty campaigns in the 90s and I wouldn’t see a lot of Mexican women in them, especially in these large-scale brands.
“It was always kind of sold to me that I had to be a specific style of woman to be it, and the fact that girls in Mexico who are brown and Latina like me will see a campaign like this and recognise themselves in it with the scale of the brand makes me so honoured and happy.
“It’s normalising an image for people and making people feel included and seen.”

Brenda Song inspired Macaulay Culkin’s skincare routine

OHMYGOSSIP — Macaulay Culkin owes all of his skincare habits to Brenda Song.
The 43-year-old actor has revealed that he’s learned everything he knows about skincare because of his fiancee.
Asked how and why he started getting into skincare, Macaulay told PEOPLE: “Whenever Brenda started schmearing stuff on my face.”
Despite this, Brenda admits that the Hollywood star is still learning skincare secrets and the routine that works best for him.
She joked: “He has no skincare routine.”
Brenda, 35, has always taken her skincare routine pretty seriously – unlike Macaulay.
The actress said: “If he washes his face with water at night, I’m lucky. I’m the one that has to smear stuff on his face.
“He’s like a boy who’s like, ‘I’ve never had to do anything. I’m never going to do anything.’ I was like, ‘Not the case for me.’ It took me an hour and a half to get ready [for an event], and he came up at the last minute and in five minutes, he was done.”
Despite this, Macaulay makes Brenda feel beautiful even when she’s not wearing any make-up.
Brenda said: “I think he’s the one that really made me feel the most beautiful when I’m about to go to bed and I have nothing on my face and I’m so tired.
“We’re about to watch some really silly thing on TV, and he looks at me, and [I’m like], ‘He makes me feel so confident.’
“I have someone who makes me feel beautiful without a stitch of make-up on, because he has to sit through my 20-minute self-care at night.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kacey Musgraves is a “long hair girly”.
The 35-year-old singer has experimented with shorter hairstyles at various times in her life – but she’s now fully committed to her longer locks.

“I look really silly with that small ponytail – like a founding father!”
The brunette beauty has actually adopted a less-is-more approach to her hair over recent times.
Kacey – who has won various awards during her music career, including seven Grammys – said: “I just try not to wash it that much.”
The chart-topping star has embraced a simple approach to beauty, after years of experimentation.
And Kacey has done something similar with ‘Deeper Well’, her new track.
Speaking about her new record, Kasey explained: “Ultimately, the song sums up where I’m at in my mid-30s and really evaluating what love means to me, what friendships mean to me, what are the things that I need, what is really serving me and not serving me.
“It’s [about] taking stock and making room for the things that actually do really matter.”
Meanwhile, Kacey previously confessed to taking inspiration from Dolly Parton.
The singer admitted to being wowed by every aspect of the country music icon.
Kacey told Billboard: “Beauty, sex appeal, brains, wit, humour, beautiful songwriting, meaningful songwriting, no apologies for who she is, LGBTQ advocate long before it was even a thing or trendy or whatever.
“She’s fearless and I admire her spirit a lot and she’s very kind. She’s very present when you’re talking to her and I just really love her so much.”

Celebrity jewellery designer wants more youngsters to get involved

OHMYGOSSIP — Celebrity designer Stephen Webster wants to encourage young people to become jewellers.
The jeweller turned designer – whose famous clients include the likes of Machine Gun Kelly, Jennifer Lopez and Lewis Hamilton – is part of a new group The Leopards hoping to encourage the next generation.
The group – which also includes jewellers Theo Fennell and Solange Azagury-Partridge – have teamed up with the Prince’s Trust charity for the last eight years to raise vital funds, and now they are going further.
This week, The Leopards will distribute 10 jewellery toolboxes to teenage students at Birmingham, England’s Aston University Engineering Academy.
Webster has compared this to the idea of sending young people onto a football pitch and urging them to have a kickabout to see where the passion emerges.
He added: “The UK is facing a crisis now, because there are not enough young craftspeople coming in.”
The toolboxes – which cost £500 – feature instruments including magnifying glasses, soldering blocks, tweezers and needle files.
Webster added that the goal is to “champion jewelry, and communicate what a fabulous career choice this is”.
The industry group takes its name from the leopard hallmark used to mark gold and silver pieces made in London since 1363.
Since being founded in 2017, the group has focused on fundraising, and teamed up with prominant brands as well as London’s Goldsmith’s Hall, which has housed the British gold, silver and jewellery industry for over 700 years.

Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty hires investment banks

OHMYGOSSIP — Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty won’t rush into future plans despite hiring investment banks.
The ‘Only Murders In the Building’ company has hired Goldman Sachs and Raymond James, and it’s said the beauty brand is looking into potential business options.
However, Women’s Wear Daily reports that the company is yet to begin a formal process to explores potential seals.
Sources added that the brand may explore an initial public offering due to its rapid growth.
It’s thought Rare Beauty – which was first launched back in 2020 – saw net sales for 2023 of around $350 million.
Meanwhile, Selena has admitted she has often been stopped by fans wanting to talk about her makeup ranges rather than her music or acting projects.
She previously told WWD: “Every time I meet someone in passing, and I am completely being honest with you, it’s always about Rare Beauty. It’s actually become more about that. And it’s really nice. I’m always delighted and honoured, but that’s usually what I get stopped most about. And it’s really been such a crazy experience, because we’re so new …
“I definitely get a lot of love for my blushes. So people will be very vocal about that. Or they’ll say they love the line or they love the messaging. A lot of people talk about how awesome it is that we’ve tried to make an inclusive brand. Truly for everyone.”
Selena went on to insist she is keen to listen to her customers and adapt the products to their needs. She added: “We’re constantly wanting to know how we can do more, and what our community needs.
“Everything we create has them in mind. So, for example, I love a really strong brow, and we launched a dual-ended product that was multifunctional with a tinted brown mascara on one end and a pencil on the other.
“But we noticed that the community was actually preferring one side over the other and not using both. So we decided to reformulate and come out with two great products that have been really well received.”

Miranda Lambert was against Las Vegas outfit changes

OHMYGOSSIP — Miranda Lambert initially refused to change her outfit during her Las Vegas residency.
The 40-year-old singer was reluctant to take a lead from Carrie Underwood, who changed seven times each night during her own stint in Sin City.
As quoted by Women’s Wear Daily, she said: “I saw Carrie’s show and it was great, but it’s not me.
“I’m squeezing this sausage into its casing one time and that’s it. Once I’m dressed, I’m done.”
Her longtime stylist Tiffany Gifford eventually wore her down and convinced Miranda to put on a second outfit during her residency.
The star admitted she’s much more comfortable in casualwear, admitting she’s “not a clothes person”.
She added: “I’m a jeans and T-shirt girl”.
However, she knew that she needed to push herself to match the glitz and glamour of Vegas.
For inspiration, she turned to Elvis Presley, and a visit to the Cowgirl Hall of Fame in Fort Worth, Texas back in 2021.
She said: “There were the most amazing outfits,” Lambert recalls. “It was so inspiring. So we used that as inspiration as well as the heyday of Elvis.”
She has 18 outfits to choose from during the residency, all custom designed by Gifford alongside other designers such as Fort Lonesome, The Blondes, Snake Farm Creative and Rose Cut Clothing.
Gifford, who has worked with Miranda for almost 14 years, admitted not even look was a hit with her friend.
She laughed: “I had some ideas, like a tear-away outfit, but she said absolutely not. There was even trepidation about changing but she finally agreed to change one time.”

Roger Federer designs his own sunglasses range

OHMYGOSSIP — Roger Federer has designed his own range of sunglasses for Oliver Peoples.
The former sports star got stuck into the creative process for the tennis-themed collection which feature the number eight – representing his birthday and his number of Wimbledon titles – as well as a pattern inspired by the strings of a tennis racket and an octagonal shape which draws on the style of a racket butt.
Roger said of the collection: “Sunglasses are something I’ve enjoyed as my sport has required me to chase the sun 80 per cent of my life. One of the main goals of our collection was to create sunglasses that could be utilized in every aspect of one’s routine – off or on the court.”
Rocco Basilico, Oliver Peoples CEO, added of the tennis champ: “His impact is legendary and reaches beyond the world of tennis. A brand is all about reputation, and Roger has one of the highest.”
The first six styles dropped this week and Roger has declared he’s thrilled with the final products. He told GQ Sports: “I think when you have a chance to work with great people, great minds, you get into this idea of how cool would it be to have your own sunglasses and, if you could, who would you choose?
“And you’re like: Oliver Peoples, how cool would that be? California, such a distant place from Switzerland, such a different world altogether … I just thought it could be something really, really fun.”
He added: “Oliver Peoples really thought it would be cool to reference tennis with some of the colours, which reference the different surfaces, and the strings at the back with the logo.
“And I just thought that actually is a great idea. So okay, let’s dive deeper into it. I’m so happy with the result. Honestly, I think they look really good.”

Da’Vine Joy Randolph: Don’t be limited with fashion choices

OHMYGOSSIP — Da’Vine Joy Randolph urged people not to “limit” themselves when it comes to fashion.
The ‘Holdovers’ star has appeared on numerous best dressed lists during awards season this year and she admitted she loves to “have fun” with what she wears and loves to express herself through her clothes.
She told Variety: “I just like to have fun. And I just want people to know, ‘Don’t limit yourself. Find what you’re into. Play. Don’t stay stuck with one thing.’
“You know why I love clothes so much? Because it’s connected to one’s personality and sense of self.”
And the ‘Rustin’ actress believes taking the time to find something she feels good in is just another way of “practicing self-love”.
She added: “You don’t have to be as obsessive about it as I am, but I think it’s a good practice of self-love too, of like, ‘What colours do I feel good in? And, oh, these are my favourite pair of jeans.’ It’s taking a sense of pride in oneself. And I think that’s healthy and good for anybody.”
Da’Vine sat next to Jennifer Lopez during Paris Fashion Week and was able to have a deep and meaningful chat with the ‘On the Floor’ hitmaker.
Asked what they had talked about, she said: “Life, love, prosperity, success. She was starting to talk about her new project that’s just now come out. It looks really dope. I need to check it out.”
The 37-year-old actress grew up in Philadelphia and will always be “so grateful” for the “very distinct” qualities of the city.
She said: “It was the best. It was exactly what I needed.
“There’s something very unique about North East cities and communities, even in a film like ‘The Holdovers’.
“It’s a very distinct culture, behaviour, attitude, mannerisms … I love that.
“They don’t have that anywhere else besides that North East pocket. And so whether Boston, New York, Philly, I’m so grateful that I was born and raised and cultivated in a city such as that.
“I just love the people. They celebrate life and they champion underdogs, and I take great pride in that.”

Bill Nighy picked up fashion rule from Sir Paul McCartney

OHMYGOSSIP — Bill Nighy only wears blue or black socks because of Sir Paul McCartney.
The 74-year-old actor explained the Beatles legend was an early influence on his style and he would never opt to cover his feet with something in a “crazy psychedelic” pattern, but he believes people by them as a way to break out from their “restrained” wardrobe in a small way.
He told Sunday Times Style magazine: “I read [McCartney] never wore anything other than dark blue or black socks and I’ve never worn anything else since.
“You look at all those crazy psychedelic ones and you wonder who wears them. I think they’re probably for people who wear restrained clothing and just want one little hint that there’s a human being in there somewhere.”
For his latest movie, supernatural thriller ‘The First Omen’, Bill was excited to receive “holy socks” as part of his costume.
He said: “I was dressed by the Vatican’s tailor. I play a cardinal. My grandfather would have been thrilled.
” I got given the full regalia, all the colours, in reds, crimsons, purple and white.
“Do you know there’s a Vatican sock shop? I was given holy socks — they’re probably blessed.”
Bill is a big fan of the Rolling Stones and he and the group’s late drummer once enjoyed a chance encounter in London, where they admired each other’s outfits.
He recalled: “I heard someone say my name. I turned around and it was Charlie wearing a bespoke arrangement that was just impeccable — an overcoat, a suit, a shirt and a collar with a bar through it.
“He reached out and felt my lapel and said, ‘You’re an actor, you’re supposed to be skint,’ and I said, ‘Well, yeah, things looked up.’”
The ‘Love Actually’ actor particularly enjoys “a decent lounge suit” when it comes to his own wardrobe.
He said: “I am absolutely not a Mayfair Michael. I tend towards something more Italian. I’ve always had a fetish for a decent lounge suit.”

Cat Deeley reveals she feels her best when she’s ‘probably not at my most beautiful’

OHMYGOSSIP — Cat Deeley feels her most gorgeous when she knows she’s not looking her best.
The TV presenter, 47, who has sons Milo, eight, and James, five, with her comedian husband Patrick Kielty, 53, said she loves being at the beach with her kids with no make-up on.
She told The Independent: “I feel my most beautiful when I’m probably not at my most beautiful, but to me, I feel it.
“It would be as the sun is starting to set on the beach after spending the day with my boys in the sunshine.
“I’ve got beachy hair, no make-up on, and my skin feels warm.
“You can smell the sunshine on your skin, and they kind of cuddle into you at the same time. That’s when I feel my best.”
Cat, who has returned to the UK to take a job as co-host of ITV’s ‘This Morning’, added “less is more” is the best beauty tip she has picked up in her years in front of the camera.
She said: “I think women look more beautiful with actually less make-up.
“But that does mean you have to really take care of your skin. You have to eat a good diet, and you have to exercise and drink water.”
Cat added she does not have a specific beauty icon, saying: “For me, it’s always when a woman feels comfortable in her own skin. I think then she is incredibly beautiful and incredibly charismatic. When you feel good, you look good too.”
Among her “beauty disasters” Cat said she has “had a terrible perm” as well as “one eyebrow” then “two very thin eyebrows” and “really short hair” that left her looking like “a giant mushroom”.
But she stressed: “I think that’s one of the things when I was talking about women being very comfortable in their own skin.
“I think you have to kind of go through that to work out what doesn’t work for you, and work out what does work for you.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Chioma Nnadi has admitted she has “big shoes to fill” as the new head of British Vogue.
The 44-year-old Londoner is stepping in for Edward Enninful, 52, who spent more than six years at the forefront of the magazine with a focus on championing diversity with its cover and contents.
Chioma – who is the first mixed-race woman to take on the role – told BBC News about how she feels there is still more to be done when it comes to diversity: “Obviously what Edward did was incredible, I’m only taking the conversation further.”
She added about how she would never have dreamed of becoming head of British Vogue: “Thinking about younger baby Chioma, thinking about what she would’ve thought, and it’s not something in my wildest dreams that I would’ve imagined for myself.
“And I know how meaningful it is for younger people to see people like me, who look like me, in a position like this.”
She also said Vogue has become “much more diverse” since she started at the magazine more than 10 years ago.
Chioma’s debut issue features singer FKA Twigs on the cover, and she said about the choice: “She’s someone whose music and style I’ve always loved. For me, she represents the modern British eccentric.”

She has interviewed A-listers including Rihanna and Angelina Jolie, and describes herself “first and foremost as a storyteller”.

Cillian Murphy’s ‘bomb brooch’ wasn’t meant to be worn by star at Oscars

OHMYGOSSIP — Cillian Murphy’s nuclear bomb-themed brooch wasn’t intended to be worn by the star at the Oscars.
The 47-year-old actor picked up the best actor gong at Sunday’s (10.03.24) Academy Awards in LA for his role in ‘Oppenheimer’, and was seen sporting a HS14 Gem Brooch by Sauvereign on his tuxedo – along with patent leather Chelsea boots made by Versace and branded “the Dublin boot” in a nod to his Irish roots.
His brooch was inspired by his leading role as the father of the atomic bomb J Robert Oppenheimer, and was crafted from 18-karat solid yellow gold and featured a total of eight concentric trapeziums – in tribute to the inside of the physicist’s devastating invention.
But its designer Bertrand Mak, founder and chief creative of Sauvereign, has now told The Guardian: “Long story short, I had the good fortune of meeting Murphy’s progressive and forward-thinking stylist Rose Forde in London December last.
“Over lunch, she casually mused that she might be looking for a pin for Murphy, and asked if I would work on a design.
“It was never intended for the Oscars, and I would have been content if he were to wear it on his dressing gown.”
The surface of each panel on the brooch was precisely engraved with a sunburst guilloché to give off the effect that light rays were coming out straight from the core – in reference to the atomic blasts seen in ‘Oppenheimer’.
Cillian’s choice to go with the pin followed the trend of brooches for men being the main accessory sported by males at this year’s Oscars.
Barry Keoghan, 31, wore a vintage antler grail while ‘The Bear’ actor Jeremy Allen White, 33, had on a Tiffany and Co piece.
Bertrand added about the ‘Bro-Brooch’ or ‘Lapel Candy’ trend: “In today’s world, it is much more acceptable for men to be flaunting precious and elaborate jewellery, not only on special occasions.
“A brooch is the most versatile of all jewellery gestures, expressive and empowering, which instantly personalises and punctuates any look.”

Trinny Woodall vows never to stop dyeing her hair as she hates greys!

OHMYGOSSIP — Trinny Woodall has vowed never to stop dyeing her hair as she hates having grey locks.
The fashion expert turned beauty products entrepreneur – who rose to fame as one half of presenting duo Trinny and Susannah on the 1990s makeover show ‘What Not To Wear’ – turned 60 on 8 February and says she is entitled to age how she likes, even if it means bucking the trend of displaying her real hair like 65-year-old actress Andie MacDowell, who has recently been proudly displaying her natural silver look on red carpets.
She told The Independent: “Everyone’s entitled to how they want to age – some people might say, ‘Trinny, why do you keep dyeing your hair? You should go grey naturally’. Not in a million years! I have (rubbish) coloured grey hair, I’m not going to do that. I don’t love grey hair on me.”
Trinny founded her Trinny London beauty brand in her 50s, and says she’s “more confident” as she enters her sixth decade.
She added: “I think I feel that I really know who I am. The benefit of age is you really discover who you are. And you don’t worry what people think.
“In my 20s I definitely didn’t have that self-belief.
“I found 50 to be quite a freeing decade, and I find this to be an even more freeing decade.”
Trinny spent years suffering acne, which she says was “very debilitating” and she now posts her skincare routines almost daily online for her 1.2 million Instagram followers.
As well as her habit of dyeing her hair, she has been open about how she gets Botox twice a year.
She added: “As much as I do Botox, you know, I’ve had CO2 laser for my acne scarring, the consistency of my skin is down to ingredients I continually put on my face every day.
“I have one or two friends in the acting profession and I know they don’t have a good skincare routine and they do Botox and whatever.
“And on screen they look great, but I look at their skin close-up and I see congested skin. I don’t see a clear, vibrant, energetic skin.”
