Rihanna set to debut high-fashion line later this month

OHMYGOSSIP — Rihanna is set to debut her high-fashion line later this month.
The 31-year-old R&B superstar has enjoyed significant success with her Fenty Beauty line, Puma collaboration and Savage x Fenty lingerie collection, and now Rihanna has announced that she will release a luxury fashion line and present her first collection, which will be branded Fenty, later this month in Paris, according to Business of Fashion.
And the ‘Work’ songstress – who is working with LVMH (Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton) to launch a luxury house under her name – revealed that designing the much-anticipated range has been an “incredibly special moment” for her.
Referring to LVMH Chairman and Chief Executive Bernard Arnault, Rihanna said in a statement: “Designing a line like this with LVMH is an incredibly special moment for us. Mr Arnault has given me a unique opportunity to develop a fashion house in the luxury sector, with no artistic limits. I couldn’t imagine a better partner both creatively and business-wise, and I’m ready for the world to see what we have built together.”
Rihanna’s collection will include ready-to-wear and accessories, including shoes, sunglasses and jewellery.
LVMH – which already houses Fenty Beauty by Rihanna – is home to some of the world’s most prestigious brands and includes Christian Dior, Marc Jacobs, Givenchy and Louis Vuitton, and Arnault admitted that the partnership to create a high-fashion line happened “naturally” because the singer is a “true entrepreneur”.
He added: “Everybody knows Rihanna as a wonderful singer, but through our partnership at Fenty Beauty, I discovered a true entrepreneur, a real CEO and a terrific leader. She naturally finds her full place within LVMH.
“To support Rihanna to start up the Fenty Maison, we have built a talented and multicultural team supported by the group resources. I am proud that LVMH is leading this venture and wish it will be a great success.”

Tyra Banks: I want to change world’s perceptions of beauty

OHMYGOSSIP — Tyra Banks wants to “change the world’s perceptions” of beauty.
The 45-year-old model has come out of retirement from the modelling industry to pose in a yellow bikini on the cover of the 2019 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, which marked her return to the magazine after being the first African-American model to pose on the cover alone in 1997 after being a joint cover star with Valeria Mazza in 1996.
And now, Tyra – who has changed her modelling name to BanX – has taken to her Instagram to reveal that she celebrates her more curvy figure and wants to “re-define beauty” to help make a “difference” in the industry.
She wrote: “Remember the 10 year challenge every one was doing on social? The one where you posted a photo of yourself now next to a photo of yourself 10 years ago?
“Well, I guess this is my @si_swimsuit 22 year challenge. Scroll the pic to see. But to me, it’s not just about what I’m looking like. It’s about what I’m FEELING like. Back then, I knew I had a plan to do more than model. I knew I wanted to make a difference. I knew I had a calling to do more than for just myself. I just didn’t know HOW I was gonna do it.
“Today, 22 years later, I rise out of bed everyday to show that yes, a woman who was a model (and is now a model again!) can indeed be powerful beyond pictures. Can indeed be a strong leader in changing the world’s perceptions of narrowly defined beauty. Can indeed be an example for others to follow so I can sit back one day when I’m old and grey to enjoy the things that YOU are doing to push my mission further than I ever dreamed possible. Yeah, my 22 year challenge has a whole ‘nother meaning beyond what you just SEE. #BanX (sic)”
Tyra – who is covering the iconic issue for the third time in her long career – was photographed by Laretta Houston in the Bahamas, and the former Victoria’s Secret Angel admitted that she thought she needed to “drop 30 pounds” when she knew she was going to be on front of the magazine, but instead ate ice cream and is happy maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
She added: “I thought I needed to drop 30 pounds. I thought I had to look the same. Then the ice cream called my name. Yep, all flavors. From Butter Pecan to Matcha to Coffee. I love me some ice cream and I just couldn’t say no to it when I heard it calling. ‘TyTy, Come eat me…’ from my mom’s freezer.
“So, this is me in @si_swimsuit today. Ice Screaming from mountain tops, ‘Screw cookie cutter beauty!’ Yes, we should exercise. Stay healthy. Take our vitamins. But sometimes we can give ourselves permission to work out with a scoop of frozen deliciousness in our hands. #BanX (sic)”

Whoopi Goldberg is launching a fashion line

OHMYGOSSIP — Whoopi Goldberg is launching her own size-inclusive fashion line.
The 63-year-old actress is known for her eccentric style and love of quirky sweatshirts, but now the EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony) winner has announced that she has created her own contemporary fashion line, named Dubgee, which features graphic separates, tunics and dresses, that will become available from Wednesday (15.05.19).
And Goldberg revealed that she has taken her creative role very “seriously” because fashion is a form of self-expression.
Speaking to Business of Fashion, she said: “This is as serious to me as anything else I’ve done in my life. The first thing you should communicate is, ‘I like me.’ I think the motto of the company is, ‘The last thing you should ever fret about is what’s in your closet.'”
The much-anticipated launch is part of a new push of celebrity-backed lines, which range from simple licensing deals to more projects like Gwyneth Paltrow’s wellness brand Goop and Reese Witherspoon’s successful fashion line, Draper James.
The ‘Sister Act’ star admitted that she was drawn to creating her own collection because she struggles with body confidence and wanted to design a range that she “loved” herself.
She added: “I started feeling kind of weird about my body, which is something I had never experienced before, and it suddenly occurred to me that if that’s how I’m feeling, maybe other people are feeling the same way.
“There are a million people who put their name on clothes, you know the ‘Pooky Poo’ collection. It’s not a licensing deal to me. I want to wear what we are making. I want to say, ‘Here’s why I love it, here’s why I think you’ll love it.’ I can convince people to take a shot at feeling better.”
The ‘Ghost’ star partnered with Gary Wassner, the founder of Hilldun, which is a factoring firm that provides young designers with loans and other forms of credit, after the pair met in 2015 when they sat together at a Jeremy Scott runway show in New York.
Wassner continued: “We are making clothes that compensate for all of the issues that have always bothered Whoopi when she’s gone shopping. That’s a concept that can extend in all categories of clothing.”
Goldberg’s Dubgee range will be available on Amazon, Ashley Stewart, Le Tote and Neiman Marcus.

Cindy Crawford likes to ‘take care’ of her ‘body and mind’

OHMYGOSSIP — Cindy Crawford’s believes you need a healthy “body and mind” to have great skin.
The 53-year-old supermodel – who has children Presley, 19, and Kaia, 17, with husband Rande Gerber – insists inner peace is just as vital to outer radiance as the products you use on your face to have a glowing complexion.
She told PEOPLE: “I think if you take care of your body and your mind, are present in your relationships and have girlfriends you can laugh with and share with, that’s most important.”
Cindy is the founder of skincare line Meaningful Beauty and she created her own range of products around the idea of “age maintenance”.
She said: “I think most of us just want to maintain the way we look for as long as we can which is a realistic goal. Meaningful Beauty was really designed around this idea of age maintenance. It just plumps the skin right back up.”
The brunette beauty also admitted that she religiously sleeps on a silk pillowcase to prevent “lines” on her face.
She explained: “When you’re 20, pillow lines go away pretty quickly, but the older you get, the longer they stay. This silk one helps me not wake up with those lines, and it keeps my hair from getting frizzy.”
Cindy swears by eye masks to “hydrate” her skin, and likes to keep her skin glowy and smooth.
She said: “I’ve been using eye masks for five years. It’s an instant pick-me-up that hydrates and smooths the skin. In the late ’80s and early ’90s the look was matte as matte can be. Now it is more about the glow.”

She told PEOPLE TV: “I love doing it, I mean I feel like nowadays everyone’s exposed to a heightened version of people they’re following, whether that be on Instagram, in films or TV.
“No one really wakes up looking the way that you see them, so I think it’s really important for people to see who you truly are, without the facade, and it’s just a nice way to connect and just feel exposed in a very honest and real way.”
And the ‘Second Act’ star has opened up about having a “better grasp” on who she is since turning 30, and admitted that although she is “constantly learning” about herself, she has “no problems” speaking her mind.
She added: “A lot [is different about me now], in your 20s you learn so much about yourself and you go through a whole whirlwind of emotions, it’s a rollercoaster being in your 20s!
“But now, at 30, I feel like I have a better grasp on who I am, and I know that I am constantly learning but I have no problems with speaking my mind, which has been the biggest enlightenment thus far of 30.”

Tyra Banks ‘paid homage’ to 80s supermodels in Sports Illustrated shoot

OHMYGOSSIP — Tyra Banks wanted to “pay homage” to the supermodels from the 1980s in her 2019 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue photo shoot.
The 45-year-old model has come out of modelling retirement to pose in a yellow bikini on the cover of the magazine, which marked her return to Sports Illustrated magazine after being the first African-American model to pose on the cover alone in 1997, after being a joint cover star with Valeria Mazza in 1996.
And now, Tyra – who has changed her modelling name to BanX – has taken to her Instagram to reveal one of the shots taken, which featured her in a plunging purple swimsuit, and admitted that it was one of her “favourite photos” because it pays tribute to the likes of Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Christie Brinkley and Elle Macpherson, who lay the “foundations” for her.
She captioned her photo: “I gotta be real with you and admit that this is one of my favorite photos that I took for @si_swimsuit. I think it’s because it harkens back to a time in fashion right before my prime. The 1980s. That era of modelling was all about swimsuits that cut very high up on the leg – so high it almost reached their armpits – ha! And I can remember looking at Sports Illustrated swimsuit shoots when I was still a youngin’ and thinking, wow, that’s sooooo cool!
“I never thought that I would be bold enough to wear something like this and it’s crazy because this was the first shot that we did on the very first day at the crack of dawn in the morning. But I was ready. Ready do something different. Ready to do something DARING. Ready to pay homage to the supermodels of the 80s who worked their asses off to lay the foundation for me and future generations to soar! #BanX (sic)”
Tyra – who is covering the iconic issue for the third time in her long and illustrious career – was photographed by Laretta Houston in the Bahamas, and the former Victoria’s Secret Angel admitted that to get her “fierce” shots, they had to wait for the sun to come out.
She added: “I was hoping the sun would be shining bright and shining far with me coming back into the modelling game. But no. On that first shot on that Bahamian beach, the sun was acting all shy and hiding behind a massive cloud. But we started to shoot anyway and the pictures were pretty cool, but kinda more Quiet Fierce.
“But then … some wind kicked up and those clouds started to move and the sun showed her pretty smile! This photo is that moment. And boy oh boy, you shoulda heard @si_swimsuit editor @mj_day screams of joy! She was so happy, I bet they heard her squeals in Cuba! I wanted to join in and applaud the sunshine and throw my hands in the air too but ummmm…. #BanX (sic)”

Mario and Kim knew they wanted a range of products which would be versatile enough for fans to recreate a variety of looks and her beauty guru previously admitted that they started planning the collection even before KKW Beauty launched in 2017.
He explained: “Even before Kim started her make-up line, we talked about how she wanted her first collaboration to be with me, so that’s when I actually started planning it.
“We wanted products that people could use to re-create basically any look that we’ve ever done, there have always been certain key eye shadow and lip colours that I’ve used on Kim, and while over the years we’ve used tons of different products, they’ve always been the same shades. So basically what we did was took all those specific shades and perfected them for exactly how we like them, how we like to use them, and what we like to pair them with.”

Sienna Miller always wears shoes she can dance in

OHMYGOSSIP — Sienna Miller’s fashion rule is to always wear shoes that “you can dance in”.
The 37-year-old actress has partnered with Jimmy Choo for the first instalment of its ‘In My Choos’ campaign which sees the star model the fashion house’s new pre-fall 2019 line of footwear, eyewear and handbags.
For Sienna, the collaboration was a natural choice for her because she always thinks about what shoes she is going to wear for every event, and if she’ll end up “taking them off”.
Speaking to Jimmy Choo’s ‘In My Choos’ series, she said “I don’t think I have a golden rule to dressing up … actually that’s not true – you definitely want to wear shoes that you can dance in. Or be prepared to take them off, which I always am. A person that’s wearing something as simple as black jeans and a T-shirt can radiate glamour, and that comes with self-confidence and being calm and centred.”
Sienna thinks the 90s was a “chic” moment for fashion because “no one looked like they were trying to hard”, and the fact there was no social media meant that people could be “wild and reckless” in that era.
She said: “I mean, the 90s, for me, were just the chicest moment. Women in oversized blazers and very little make-up, I love that aesthetic. Because no one really looked like they were trying too hard.
“I get so sad sometimes looking back and seeing these pre-Instagram, pre-social media days where people were really wild and reckless and nothing was contrived or thought about, and it was a really original moment in fashion. It didn’t feel it at the time. I was young, but. I remember it.
“But it just felt like scruffy, but now it’s such a cool look, and I remember being at school and looking at photos of Winona Ryder and Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Moss and Johnny Depp.”
The ‘American Woman’ actress – who has daughter Marlowe, six, with her former partner Tom Sturridge – also admitted that she thinks women who are confident in their own skin “stand out” the most.
She added: “Somebody who’s really comfortable in their own skin, somebody who is individual, someone who is brave and courageous, always stands out.”

Maya Jama celebrates her ‘imperfections’

OHMYGOSSIP — Maya Jama celebrates her “imperfections” so nobody can make her feel “bad” about them.
The 24-year-old presenter doesn’t give body-shaming trolls the “power” to make her doubt herself and has learnt to love her own skin.
She said: “If I own my imperfections, then nobody can make me feel bad about them. I’m not giving anyone else the power. With me there’s no surprises.”
And Maya says that she keeps her confidence by “never holding back” and staying true to herself.
She told British Vogue magazine: “The thing I get asked most is, ‘How are you so yourself? How do I get that confidence?’ I always respond, ‘Do whatever you would do if nobody was watching; don’t ever hold yourself back because of other people.’
“Sometimes I have to sit back and catch my breath a little bit. Hopefully this is the beginning of everything. Whatever I can do, I want to do it – because why the f**k not?”
The BBC Radio 1 DJ is dating ‘Vossi Bop’ rapper Stormzy, and Maya confessed that she tried to keep her relationship under wraps for a long time but when the pair eventually moved in together, their romance “came out”.
She added: “We didn’t ever want to do the whole [couple] goals thing together. But, after keeping things low-key for so long, we ended up living together, being in the same places together. It was gonna come out, and it did. It is what it is.”

Venus Williams has invested in self-care range Asutra

OHMYGOSSIP — Venus Williams has invested in the self-care range Asutra.
The 38-year-old tennis ace has announced that she is the chief brand officer at the wellness company, which launched in 2015, and now the star has revealed that the collaboration was a natural choice for her because she uses their products in her daily regime because it fits in with her “active lifestyle”.
She told WWD.com: “I love their focus on active self care. Obviously I live and breathe that, and I was able to use their products as a part of actively taking care of myself. I also love that their products work and they use all natural ingredients, so you can use the products for your mind, body and soul. That was a huge appeal for me and just fit right into my lifestyle.”
And Venus has always loved “wellness” and beauty because her mother, Oracene Price, instilled the importance of looking after your body into her from a young age.
She added: “I’ve always been in that [wellness] realm. I grew up that way with my mum. She kind of grew up in California in the Seventies, so you know how that goes. It was all natural and that sort of thing, and even for my own health I do a lot of things that enhance my health to keep inflammation down, the way I eat and all of that.
“It’s an opportunity to collaborate with other people as well. I enjoy that. Tennis is a solo sport, so in my businesses I’ve found that opportunity to work with other people and to collaborate and share ideas and to push each other and that’s what I really look forward to.”
Asutra’s beloved products include their Chill Pain Away Magnesium CBD Cream ($34.50), Peaceful Lavender Yoga Mat Cleaner ($10.95) and Pure Soothing Comfort Aromatherapy Mist ($14.95) to name a few, which are meant to help customers “amp up their self-care time,” according to the brand’s founder and chief executive officer, Stephanie Morimoto.
The seven-time Grand Slam winner also insisted that she is “careful” about what she gets “involved with” because she has “limited time” because of her tennis career.
She continued: “I came to Asutra as a customer…the more I learned about the company, the more intrigued I became. I have limited time because of the tennis, so I am very careful about what I get involved in because I want to give it my all and am invested in living up to the ideals of the products I’m associated with.”

Winnie Harlow wanted Met Gala gown to ‘showcase ‘background’

OHMYGOSSIP — Winnie Harlow wanted her Met Gala 2019 outfit to “showcase” her “background”.
The 24-year-old model turned heads on the Metropolitan Museum of Art pink carpet in New York City on Monday (06.05.19) when she stepped out wearing a custom Tommy Hilfiger jewel encrusted dress inspired by her Carribean heritage.
And the star has revealed that she and the American designer has been working on the much-anticipated gown “since January” and wanted the look to reflect the “uber-glamourous costumes” at Jamaican carnivals.
She told PEOPLE: “Being Jamaican, it was important for me to showcase my background. For an event like the Met Gala, you basically have to block out your entire day to get ready, but that makes it really fun and glamorous.
“We started the fittings a few days before the event, but we worked on the dress with Tommy and his team since January.
“The carnival has such a rich cultural significance as it was used to celebrate the end of slavery. Growing up around the carnival, I always loved the uber-glamourous costumes.”
And Winnie worked with A-list stylist Anna Trevelyan to bring her vision to life, and revealed her custom cape was an ode to the 2019 Met theme, Notes on Camp.
She added: “I decided to work this year with Anna Trevelyan. She was the very first stylist I worked with in the fashion industry along with Nick Knight.
“I think my black feather cape is so over-the-top that it might overshadow my headpiece!
“The cape was made with the most glistening jewels and crystals, just like my gown, and really makes a statement on its own. It’s the perfect final touch that makes the whole look truly feel camp.”
The brunette beauty also insisted that she always calls her family to show off her finished look, and get the “best energy boost” before heading to the prestigious red carpet.
She continued: “I enjoy a glass of champagne and call my family to get the best energy boost before heading to the Met.”

Tyra Banks has changed modelling name to Banx

OHMYGOSSIP — Tyra Banks has changed her modelling name to “BanX”.
And Tyra has now revealed that she replaced the letter ‘S’ in her modelling moniker with an ‘X’ because it represents “rebirth” and the “breaking” of beauty boundaries.
She told SI: “[The new name symbolises] X-ing out cookie-cutter beauty. Mononyms are exciting in the industry. But usually models use their first names, like Iman. I want to flip the script and go by my last name. I’m taking something familiar and making it new. I’m wiser now and thicker.”
“BanX is me, but she’s also every woman. BanX represents rebirth and that beauty boundaries only exist to be broken.”
The TV personality and entrepreneur – who is covering the iconic issue for the third time in her long career – was photographed by Laretta Houston in the Bahamas, and the former Victoria’s Secret Angel admitted that she is happy with her thicker figure and wants to tell women all over the world that beauty can come in all “shapes, sizes and ages”.
She added: “I am telling people that beauty comes in all shapes, sizes and ages. I have to put my money where my mouth is. I have to make sure my message is pure.”

In a statement, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit editor MJ Day, said: “Since Tyra’s first cover in 1996, she’s transformed herself into nothing less than a mogul, a cultural force and a supernova of inspiration and empowerment. Priyanka Chopra’s Met gown inspired by 80s TV shows

OHMYGOSSIP — Priyanka Chopra’s Met Gala gown was an ode to “American television shows” from the 1980s.
The 36-year-old actress stepped out wearing a custom Christian Dior caged dress, that featured a cascading rainbow feathered skirt and cape, in keeping with 2019’s theme of Camp: Notes on Fashion on the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s special pink carpet in New York on Monday night (06.05.19).
In a behind-the-scenes video on Instagram, Dior ateliers have revealed that the floor-length gown featured intricate tulle feather details, that were individually cut by hand, and was inspired by eighties shows that had an over-the-top element, but remained forever “chic”.
Jean Eudes from Dior’s Vermont embroidery atelier said: “So the dress has been created in New York, for Priyanka Chopra. The bodice takes the form of a ‘cage’, which the Dior atelier will complete. She will have a dress as well as a long cape in the same style. We are going to apply the colour in a degrade … or feathered manner.
“Basically we create all these feathers, every single one of which is cut by hand. So these different tulle feathers will be placed in layers that will whirl around her in graded colours like blush pink to yellows and darker pinks, all the way to flaming red.
“It’s all part of the ‘camp’ theme for the Met Gala, which to me evokes those American television series of the 1980s. A very affected style … this whole idea of ‘more, more and more!’ But always chic, always extremely chic.”
A team of 10 petites-mains ateliers worked on the dress for a total of 1,500 hours, and the ‘Isn’t It Romantic’ star finished her look with a custom-made Dior Haute Couture palladium crown.
Priyanka was accompanied by her husband, Nick Jonas, who donned a bright white suit, that featured a silver sequin-detailed shirt.
Writing on Instagram, Dior teased their video: “The making of @PriyankaChopra’s Haute Couture dress for the Met Gala. Take a peek behind the scenes at the Dior ateliers, where @PriyankaChopra’s #DiorCouturedress by #MariaGraziaChiuri for the annual Met Gala in New York took shape. Created with passion during a total of 1500 hours by the House’s petites-mains, this tulle cage dress features a long, feathered cape in graduated colors – a tribute to Eighties-era TV shows.
