Anne Hathaway hails Donatella Versace as ‘iconic’

OHMYGOSSIP — Anne Hathaway says Donatella Versace is “iconic” as she wields her power in a “fun” way.
‘The Devil Wears Prada’ actress, 41, heaped praise on the 68-year-old fashion design veteran as she continues to front her new Versace Icons campaign alongside Oscar-winning actor Cillian Murphy.
Anne said in a new black-and-white video released on Versace’s social media to support the campaign, in which she discussed shooting its promotional materials: “There was this amazing moment. We were on set, and we were calling for someone to approve, and Donatella walks up and she goes, ‘I approve – what more do you need?’
“And it was just… the way she walks into spaces, owns her power in a way that’s so much fun and makes you… I don’t know, gives everybody energy.
“That feels iconic to me.”
The video also showed Donatella on the set of Anne’s Versace shoot, telling her: “You’re fierce.”
Anne is also seen saying about her look in the shoot: “I think this hairdo is fairly iconic. It reminds me of a movie I made when I was 17 years old.”
The actress was also filmed going through racks of clothes during the shoot – and threatening to steal a piece when it was over.
She jokes: “I really want to steal this one. I want to steal all of them – but this one in particular might disappear in my bag on my way home.”
Donatella has praised Anne and Cillian, 47, as “very Versace” adding: “Strong, direct, iconic. For me, Anne and Cillian are two of the best actors of today. Exceptionally talented and kind people I admire and respect, looking their best.”
The campaign, shot by photographer pair Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott with styling by Jacob K, finds the two actors wearing pieces from the new line including the Medusa ’95 corset leather dress, which costs $4,600, and denim bustier ($1,325) for Anne – and the Barocco panelled gabardine trench (at $2,925) and tailored suiting on Cillian.
Anne has sported the brand for her many red carpet appearances including at the Met Gala.
She said in a launch press release for the Icons collection: “I have met so many Versace women who are powerful, emotionally available, ambitious, substantive, funny, fierce, loving, singular, sexy, smart, talented, generous, very much like Donatella.
“I have observed that a Versace woman is herself. I am so thrilled and honoured to be considered a Versace woman and am overjoyed to reunite with the Versace family for another Icons campaign.”

David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust hair stylist reveals secrets of iconic look

OHMYGOSSIP — David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust hair stylist thought the singer was too “arty” for her.
The late ‘Starman’ singer, who died aged 69 in 2016 from liver cancer, stunned fans with his flame-haired look in the 1970s, and the woman who created it has now lifted the lid on how she ended up in his clique and used a high street hair dye to help create his iconic ‘androgynous alien’ Ziggy character.
Suzi Ronson, 74, told The Guardian about meeting David in 1971 after he and his then-wife Angie Bowie, also now 74, caused a stir outside the Evelyn Paget hair salon on Beckenham High Street, London, where she was working as a hairdresser: “Everybody rushed out to have a look. Everyone was like nudging, poking each other, asking, ‘Who’s that?’ Then someone whispered, ‘It’s David Bowie.’”
David’s mum was a client of Suzi’s hairdresser mother, but she added about how she thought she would never land a job as his stylist: “He was in an arty clique, not my world.”
Despite her fear, Suzi ended up as the only working woman in David’s touring entourage.
She was welcomed into the clique after she was invited by David’s former wife Angie into their Haddon Hall home in the south London suburb of Beckenham.
Suzi added: “They wanted to change David’s look, and Angie knew I was willing to experiment.”
The stylist was shown a magazine photograph of a model used by the Japanese fashion designer Kansai Yamamoto by David who was sporting short, red spiky hair – and asked to copy the look.
Suzi added: “It was the colour that really sold them. I used fantasy colours – Schwarzkopf Red Hot – from the salon.
“God knows why we had them in Beckenham. No one used them.”
By the time she was finished, the Ziggy Stardust character’s hairstyle was born, and Suzi added she ended up feeling like one of David and Angie’s family when she hit the road with the pair and their team.
She went on: “I didn’t have a particularly happy childhood. My family were a little (messed) up so I left school at 15 and was always looking for an escape.”
Suzi, who has just published her memoir, ‘Me and Mr Jones: My Life with David Bowie and the Spiders from Mars’, ended up sleeping with David as he and Angie had an open marriage.
Her autobiography also details how she ended up dyeing his jockstrap red for his Ziggy character and ironing sweat from his stage outfit.
She said: “There were many costume changes. So David would come to the wings where I would be standing with a glass of red wine and a Gitanes cigarette.
“While (his guitarist) Mick (Ronson) was playing his guitar, I would change David’s clothes.”

Tracy Anderson felt ‘minimised’ over celebrity trainer tag

OHMYGOSSIP — Tracy Anderson felt “minimised and denounced” when she was described as a “celebrity trainer”.
The 49-year-old fitness expert has counted the likes of Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Lopez and Victoria Beckham as her clients over the years, but she felt frustrated by her tag as “fitness guru to the stars” as she had so much more to offer.
She told Sunday Times Style magazine: “The press labelled me as something that isn’t the main part of who I am. ‘Celebrity trainer, fitness guru to the stars.’
“In reality I have a dance background, a chess background, a piano background, an inventor background, an explorer background and my parents were both artists.
“I grew up in this artistic, progressive family with parents who were like, ‘Go break boundaries!’
“But it was easier for the world to say, ‘That girl’s cute and hangs out with celebrities and can move. Let’s call her a celebrity trainer.’ I feel like I was minimised and denounced in so many ways.”
But Tracy still heaped praise on Gwyneth, 51, and Jennifer, 54, for continuing to push themselves with their fitness in their fifties.
She said: “All three of us have a really close relationship with our bodies physically, we all three listen to our bodies.
“Gwyneth is a CEO, she has to be motivated. She will walk into a session and I know she doesn’t feel like doing it and she will do it and feel better afterwards. It’s like a non-negotiable for her. We’re smart enough to know we need to be doing it.”
At different points, Tracy has lived with both Madonna and Gwyneth.
She explained: “Because they wanted me to be able to train them and my philosophy was that we needed to move our bodies in this way pretty much five to seven days a week to be effective, so that meant that I needed to be where they were.”
But the entrepreneur parted ways with Madonna in 2009 and later admitted their relationship “wasn’t working” because she had to miss key moments in her son’s life due to the “demands” of the ‘Vogue’ hitmaker.
However, she’s always found the Goop founder more understanding.
She said: “Gwyneth was so generous about my son and my son’s father and being very family-oriented. Because of that we’ve forged a lifelong sisterhood. Gwyneth and I still train today.”

Jack O’Connell ‘didn’t know’ what Met Gala was

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack O’Connell “didn’t know” what the Met Gala was.
The 33-year-old actor walked the red carpet at the annual fashion extravaganza back in 2015, and though he had a “fun” time, he didn’t appreciate he was part of one of the industry’s biggest nights, where guests go all out with their outfits to suit the theme of the evening.
He told Sunday Times Style magazine: “I went to the Met Gala once, I didn’t know what it was.
“I was just wearing a whistle and flute, think it was by Burberry, then I saw Sarah Jessica Parker wearing a tree. I was like, where am I? It was fun, though.”
Jack closed his Instagram account several years ago on the advice of his ‘Money Monster’ co-star George Clooney and he admitted it is “bliss” to be able to switch off from public scrutiny, especially as he still feels he is learning to navigate fame.
He said: “It’s bliss to be unplugged from all that. [Fame] doesn’t enter the household.
“It takes you a long time [to adjust to]. Every day you’re still learning. Whether it’s about your craft or about how to conduct yourself. Going back to the film, that’s why I feel a huge amount of sympathy and empathy for what Amy [Winehouse] was going through — that level of attention. Thank God I don’t have that.”
The ‘Back To Black’ actor refuses to read comments about his work.
He said: “I avoid it and shut it off. If you go looking for it, you’ll find everything you want to read and everything you don’t want to read. I think as soon as you tap into that you’re asking for trouble.
“It’s tempting, of course, because you’ve always got it [your phone] in your pocket. But it’s self-flagellation in the end.”

‘I’d be horribly bored’: Michael Kors doesn’t want ‘army’ of identical models

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Kors would be “horribly bored” if he only made clothes to suit one shape.
The 64-year-old designer’s catwalk shows have been celebrated for his use of diverse models and he admitted he can’t imagine anything worse than dressing “an army” of identical women.
He told The Times magazine: “I’d be horribly bored if I dressed an army of everyone looking the same. The same point of view, the same body, the same colouring, the same age. What could be more boring?”
And even after 43 years in the fashion industry, Michael still finds it exciting, particularly because of the way things have changed for menswear in modern times.
He said: “People say, ‘Are you still excited?’ Well, look how things have changed. These days you see a 17-year-old boy who is more obsessed with clothes than his 17-year-old female counterpart. And he has no rules.
“Seeing actors, you know, who acknowledge that they love fashion, that they want to look great and enjoy it. That’s wonderful.”
Though he is a household name, Michael is happy be “only fashion famous” as he can enjoy the perks without too much attention.
He said: “I’m only fashion famous. I would never want to be Hollywood famous. Fashion famous is great. Good table at a restaurant. The right seats at the theatre. Hollywood famous? What a tough way to live life.
“Everyone thinks I am the life of the party. But I am an only child. I was reading The New York Times when I was six. I love being out and about, but I can also sit for hours on end on my own.”

Hayley Kiyoko: ‘My style is elevated casual and very geared towards feeling comfortable’

OHMYGOSSIP — Hayley Kiyoko dresses for comfort but loves to wear clashing patterns and colours.
The 33-year-old actress and singer – who has teamed up with Taco Bell and Wildfang to launch a limited-edition coverall – wants her fans to love themselves and wear clothing that makes them feel “the most confident”.
Hayley is not a fan of carrying a handbag so she likes to wear clothing with pockets, and she confessed that she loves the “denim on denim look” that was fashionable in the 90s and noughties.
She told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “My style is elevated casual and very geared towards feeling comfortable. … I normally gravitate towards wearing pieces that feel unique.
“I consider myself a pocket queen. I don’t normally carry a big purse, so the more options I have to hold my important items, the better … I also love a sock and sandal or a denim on denim moment and mixing and matching patterns, colours and textures.
“I never leave home without a jacket or hoodie — layering is key and gives your look versatility throughout the day. … Also never underestimate the power of double-sided tape!”
Her one fashion tip is: “Wear whatever makes you feel the most confident. … Confidence is your best asset.”
The ‘Girls Like Girls’ singer previously admitted that she has been torn between dressing in a feminine or masculine way but ultimately decided that beauty is within and she now has the confidence to wear whatever she wants.
Hayley told Allure in 2019: “I’ve definitely struggled with defining beauty and what that means on the scale of femininity and masculinity. It’s OK to want to dress feminine one day and masculine another day.
“Beauty is within. Beauty is about confidence and embracing who you are. That’s something that took me a long time growing up to see, ‘Oh, it’s about how I feel, and being comfortable in my own skin.'”

Ayesha Curry says skincare products can only keep problems at ‘bay’ – not ‘eradicate’ them

OHMYGOSSIP — Ayesha Curry says skincare brands are lying when they say their products can “eradicate” problematic skin.

I always will, but I can keep it at bay. “Our whole messaging is that [Sweet July Skin] can keep things at bay. Anybody that tells you that [their products] are going to eradicate is not true. You can keep things at bay. You can keep the skin calm. That’s what this does. It’s super clean, super gentle and nourishing.”
The ingredients in their products are all Caribbean superfoods in homage to her Jamaican roots.
She said: “I formulated this based on my Jamaican heritage, so it’s wrapped around Caribbean superfoods, and I quickly realised what you put in your body can also be used topically.
“We look at [Sweet July Skin] as recipes for the skin, and I literally reverse engineered these formulas by way of researching and getting in the kitchen and refreshing my memory on all of these superfoods that I heard about growing up. We as a team would then take that to our lab and be like, ‘Hey, this is what we want. This is what our research says is going to work.”
The former ‘Great American Baking Show’ host added of their Vitamin C serum: “The base ingredient is soursop, which is this fruit that’s in indigenous makeup. I think it is 15,000 times more potent than an orange. I haven’t seen anything on the market using that. I just wouldn’t have ever known that if it were for my food background. I’m just so grateful.”

Princess Diana had secret second wedding dress

OHMYGOSSIP — Diana, Princess of Wales had a secret second wedding dress made in case the original was stolen or damaged in the run up to her big day.
The late royal walked down the aisle at St Paul’s Cathedral in London on July 29 1981 to marry Charles, Prince of Wales – now King Charles – in a lavish gown designed by husband and wife duo Elizabeth and David Emanuel and the dress was made from ivory silk taffeta with lace, sequins and 10,000 pearls as well as a 25-foot train.
Now Elizabeth Emanuel has revealed she actually designed a second dress for Diana in case anything happened to the original. She told PEOPLE in a video posted on YouTube: “I was a bit neurotic at the time of the making of the royal wedding dress, and I thought: ‘What happens if somebody breaks in and steals the dress or something spills or there’s a fire or it gets stolen?’
“I wanted to be prepared for any emergency and we set about making this other dress. Not exactly like the royal wedding dress because to try and recreate that would have just taken too long … ”
Elizabeth used part of a pattern for a pink dress she’d made for Diana for a pre-wedding ball and adapted it into a new wedding dress. However, the princess had no idea her designers were busy working on a spare.
Elizabeth added: “Diana never knew that we were making this spare. I didn’t want to worry her. We never showed it to her, we never talked about it. It was a complete secret.”
The second dress was totally different to the dress Diana wore for her wedding, with slim sleeves in a brighter white colour and without the lengthy train, but it did have the same sequin and pearl patterns seen on the royal wedding dress that was used.
Elizabeth revealed the dress is now “just gone” because it was unfinished and never used and she suspects it ended up “on some sample rail somewhere”.

She told Cosmopolitan magazine: “I changed my hair many different ways throughout my career. I love dark hair. I sometimes miss my super-shiny black, dark hair. It never got to be the same because once you put bleach on your hair, it just never shines the same way …

Elizabeth Hurley shares clothes with son Damian

OHMYGOSSIP — Elizabeth Hurley shares clothes with her son Damian.
The actress raised Damian, 21, mostly as a single mum and the model/filmmaker has now revealed the pair are so close they even borrow pieces from each other’s wardrobes – confessing he often pinches her leather trousers while she borrows his blazers.
Damian told The Sunday Times: “I steal leather trousers all the time. Jackets are always great. Any big over-sized blazers she steals in a heart beat.”
He added of their close relationship: “We’re like siblings. I think when it’s just the two of you, any farce of: ‘I’m the parent, you’re the child, I”m going to tell you off’ goes out the window. You start seeing each other as real humans way sooner than when there are two parents, two kids, and you’re separated from the adults.”
Damian went on to talk about his mother’s iconic Versace safety-pin dress which she wore on a red carpet back in 1994 when she attended the premiere of ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ with her then boyfriend Hugh Grant.
He said: “It put Versace on the map, it transformed my mother’s life overnight, and it really changed the entire concept of celebrity, the entire concept of red carpet moments.”
Damian previously cited supermodels Naomi Campbell and Helena Christensen as his inspiration when he started out in front of the camera. He told Vogue: “Naomi Campbell is a force of nature, I worship her. She went out of her way to look out for me when we worked together last year and I’m always blown away by her professionalism.

He added of his own style: “Both my mother and I are incredibly scruffy by nature. The second we’re not being photographed, we revert to slobbery with alarming ease.”

Victoria Beckham saves Sundays for pampering

OHMYGOSSIP — Victoria Beckham saves Sunday mornings for a beauty “pamper session”.
The Spice Girls star has revealed she devotes one morning a week to stepping up her skincare by treating herself to a face mask, which is followed by a cleanse and then a session with her LED mask.
She shared her weekly ritual in a post on Instagram, writing: ” On a Sunday morning, I try and find time for a pamper session … ”
Victoria then explained more in a video, which showed her addressing the camera with her face mask on. She said: “So what I like to do once a week is really take the time to treat my skin.
“So what I’ve done this morning is I’ve started by putting on a face mask. I normally like to leave these masks on for about 45 minutes [to] an hour. They’re not too harsh. Just very cleansing and nourishing. Feel really nice on the skin so you can leave this particular mask on for quite some time. I like to keep it on and then really spend the time on cleansing my skin.”
Victoria then insisted that everyone is busy, but it’s good to try to find the time to treat yourself. She added: “It’s so important when you have the time to use that time in a really efficient way. And spending time on yourself is so important and I’m not underestimating how difficult that is.
“We are all so busy, we have so much to do. But when you can spare the time, spare the time to do a simple mask, nothing too harsh, cleanse, red light. Treat your skin ahead of a super busy week ahead.”
Victoria revealed she uses two cleansers from her own beauty range as well as serum and moisturiser by Augustinus Bader.

Sabrina Carpenter reveals how her exes inspire everyday outfits

OHMYGOSSIP — Sabrina Carpenter always dresses as if she’s “going to run into her ex”.
The 24-year-old star – who has joined Skims as the latest ambassador for Kim Kardashian’s lingerie brand – has opened up about her own everyday style, and admitted she keeps one piece of advice close to her heart.
She told W Magazine: “I remember something that someone said to me once.
“It was like, ‘Honey, you should always leave the house as if you’re going to run into your ex.’ And I’ve followed that advice from that day forward.”
When it comes to her sense of style, she takes inspiration from the likes of Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin and “even young Dolly [Parton]”.
She explained: “A lot of the things they wore feel very close to the things that I like to wear now.
“Obviously, I also take a lot from my mom, when she was younger. She used to wear these cute little sets, and I feel like now I’m very much a set girl.
“I find inspiration all over the place. It’s been a minute since I’ve named-dropped Rihanna in an interview, because I told myself I had to slow down, but Rihanna is always one of my main style icons as well.”
Howver, the singer, actress and model insisted she doesn’t like to define her style with strict labels.
She added: “I’ve always had trouble answering this question, because when you’re a young woman, it can change and fluctuate a lot, and you don’t always want to label it.
“Some days I feel confident in short skirts and tall boots, and other days, I feel more confident in baggy jeans and baggy t-shirts.”
When it comes to her style on and off stage, the line between the two isn’t as strict as people might assume.
She explained: “I don’t wear what I wear on stage to the grocery store, but I definitely feel comfortable enough in it that I wouldn’t feel weird wearing it to dinner with my friends and family.
“It never feels like I’m putting on this persona and becoming someone else. It still feels like another facet of me.”

Julia Fox had bizarre inspiration for cheesy new style

OHMYGOSSIP — Julia Fox’s new hairstyle is inspired by mac and cheese.
The 34-year-old actress and ‘OMG Fashun’ host stepped out over the weekend with a bold new look with her hair dyed in partnership with cheese brand Velveeta, and her stylist John Novotny – who uses they/them pronouns – admitted everything came together as planned.
They told People magazine: “The Velveeta Gold is honestly fab and she’s definitely golden!
“Julia and I were both pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the gold color is. It’s a warmer yellow [reminiscent of] a warm sunny day or delicious bowl of mac and cheese.”
They added that the colour was inspired by Velveeta’s “supremely creamy and melty goodness”.
The duo’s bond is one build on trust, so both of them were “ready to play” with the eyecatching hue.
Thankfully, Julia’s transformation from her more recent icy platinum blonde was a “pretty simple” process, taking almost an hour.
Novotny added: “A lot of yellow hair dyes tend to lean more [towards] slime green, but not this one. This dye is a deposit-only color, meaning no damage.”
Meanwhile, they hailed the cheese brand’s shift into the hair world as a perfect fit.
Novotny said: “Julia is the absolute queen of self-expression and always exudes confidence which is on par with living a life that’s La Dolce Velveeta.
“She lives an unapologetic lifestyle and does what feels good for her.
“She marches to the beat of her own drum and is all about living life to the fullest and embracing outrageous pleasure every day, which is exactly what Velveeta’s attitude is all about.”
