J Balvin’s ‘biggest dream’ came true creating his own Air Jordan I sneakers

OHMYGOSSIP — J Balvin says becoming the first Latin star to release their own Air Jordan I sneakers is “a legacy”.
The 35-year-old star has admitted it’s a dream come true to launch his own design of the iconic shoe, as he recalled queuing up as a kid to get his hands on the latest pair of Air Jordans.
Speaking to WWD.com, he said: “I reminisce about being in Miami or in Queens waiting on the line or begging people to wait in line for sneakers, but to have my own sneaker is just crazy. And that’s why this means a lot to me.”
J added: “There are ways to connect with the world and basically to connect with sneakers right now is one of my biggest dreams, because it’s like a legacy. I’m the first Latin artist ever to do an Air Jordan I collaboration. As a Latino, I feel I’m a global citizen, but all of the Latinos are so proud of this move. I see many people feeling the love and I’m grateful.”
The ‘Oasis’ star opted for a bold multi-coloured tie-dye design for his $190 Air Jordans to spread “positive vibes” and “make a statement”.
He said: “I just wanted to show positive vibes on the sneaker.
“It’s the first time a Latin artist is doing a Jordan sneaker, so I wanted it to be that whenever you see them you know what they are. When I was in Portland with everyone, we said let’s do denim, and let’s switch it up and make a statement. It’s an Air Jordan I, but it has our flavour on it and we went really out loud. I knew what I wanted. It was on purpose and I wanted to tell my story about good vibes, colors and energy, tolerance, love and just make you feel happy. I’m proud to be Latino and be the first artist to do it.”
Meanwhile, when it comes to describing his own personal style, the Colombian hitmaker admitted he doesn’t really have one set style, but “feeling comfortable” with himself is most important.
He explained: “When it comes to fashion, I don’t know if I have a style or not, but I just think it’s about feeling comfortable with yourself.
“When I was a kid, my mom used to take me shopping and said, ‘Try this or that,’ or ‘Let me put this hat on you and try these sneakers,’ and as I grew up I was looking more at what I wanted.”

Megan Thee Stallion says her Fashion Nova line will help women ‘radiate confidence’

OHMYGOSSIP — Megan Thee Stallion says women will “radiate confidence” in her Fashion Nova pieces.
The ‘Hot Girl Summer’ rapper has launched her own inclusive denim line with the popular brand and explained that in creating clothing that is tailored to fit every body shape and size perfectly, the wearer will feel amazing inside and out.
In an interview with Teen Vogue, she said: “When everything hugs the right places and complements your natural figure you can’t help but feel good. That’s what this whole collection is about.”
She added: “When you feel that way on the inside and you‘re wearing clothes that accentuate that, you will just radiate confidence. That’s real hot girl s***!”
Growing up, the 5ft10 singer struggled to find clothes that fitted her properly in terms of length and being too tight around the booty.
She said: “Whether it was because the leg length was too short or the booty area was too tight, there would always be clothes or styles I’d [want to] wear, but just couldn’t find that would fit a tall girl with shape.”
Her own battle to find clothes with the perfect fit helped when it came to knowing the areas that needed the most attention.
She said: “I really wanted to pay attention to length and stretch across the collection so everything looks tailored but is super comfortable.”
The ‘WAP’ hitmaker knew Fashion Nova was the perfect brand to collaborate with on the 106-piece collection – which includes jeans, corset tops, dresses, and even pieces for pets – because they serve up “the hottest looks” with a reasonable price tag.
She said: “I want all the hotties to be able to wear this collection, so working with Fashion Nova who have all the hottest looks at affordable prices just felt organic in that sense.”

Cardi B and Paris Hilton feature in hairstylist Tokyo Stylez’ Snap Originals docuseries

OHMYGOSSIP — Cardi B and Paris Hilton feature in their hairstylist Tokyo Stylez’ ‘Queen of Stylez’ docuseries on Snapchat.
The 30-year-old hairstylist and wigmaker to the stars will be spilling the tea and discussing the design of a brand new wig as part of the series, with each episode set to feature one of her famous clients, including the ‘WAP’ and socialite, plus Karrueche Tran, Mulatto, Flo Milli, De’Arra, Kash Doll, and Nikita Dragun.
The first episode is set to premiere on Saturday (21.11.20).
Tokyo will take viewers behind-the-scenes of her creative process, the ups and downs of her “rapid rise to fame”, and share how her family reacted to her recent transition.
A press release states that: “Tokyo relies on her closest friends to help manage her hectic life, intensified by her rapid rise to fame. Having recently transitioned, not everyone in Tokyo’s life has adjusted seamlessly. In Tokyo’s new world, she finds herself at a crossroads, redefining who she considers to be her true family.”
Tokyo – who has also worked for Kylie Jenner and the Kardashian family – started working with Cardi early on in her career and loves coming up with styles that are “outside the box” with the rapper.
On how they met, she said previously: “I actually knew Cardi for a little while before I started doing her hair. She was always very nice to me and always wanted me to do her hair but my schedule was always so crazy. At the time I was doing Kylie [Jenner] and a few of the other Kardashians and I had Nicki Minaj as well.
“I guess you could say the stars aligned, we had a gap in our schedule so I did her hair once and that was it. Then her song ‘Bodak Yellow’ really started to hit, and next thing you know we were everywhere as her schedule got extremely busy.
“I really appreciate Cardi because she is constantly pushing all her glam artists to do something outside the box. When you do stuff on a high level, you do start to get stagnant, so you have to find that person that will push your boundaries.”
The eight-episode Snap Original docuseries is produced by Glass Entertainment and can be viewed on Snapchat’s Discover page.

Harry Styles tops Lyst’s 2020 Power Dressers list

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Styles is the first-ever male celebrity to top Lyst’s 2020 Power Dressers list.
The 26-year-old singer – who recently rocked a dress in Vogue magazine – came out on top in the annual ‘Year in Fashion 2020’ report, which records the biggest fashion moments, influential celebrities and brands of the year.
The One Direction star is joined by Beyoncé, Kim Namjoon (RM) of BTS, American politician Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, rapper Travis Scott, ‘Normal People’ hunk Paul Mescal, pop megastar Lizzo, social media star Charli D’Amelio, Britain’s Duchess of Cambridge and Italian influencer Chiara Ferragni in the global fashion shopping platform’s top 10.
Lyst used 100 million search, sales and social media metrics from the site to land the results.
And they found that after Harry released his latest single, ‘Golden’, searches for blue and turquoise blazers, similar to his in the music video, increased 52 per cent on Lyst, while searches for yellow bucket hats like the one he wore spiked by 92 per cent.
That’s not all, the JW Anderson cardigan he donned also saw the #HarryStylesCardigan challenge go viral on TikTok, and saw searches for the piece soar by 166 per cent for a week in June.
As for Beyoncé, following the release of her film and visual album, ‘Black Is King’, last July, searches for French designer Marine Serre increased by a massive 426 per cent, with more than 3,000 people looking for the crescent moon bodysuit the singer and her dancers wore.
RM, meanwhile, made the list after he wore a white turtleneck and jacket, with a spike of 67 per cent for similar items.
And when the South Korean boy band performed at the MTV Video Music Awards in August wearing Gucci head-to-toe, searches for the high-end brand’s ties and three-piece suits rocketed.

Megan Thee Stallion’s Fashion Nova collection caters to ‘the real body’

OHMYGOSSIP — Megan Thee Stallion realised the massive holes in representation for bodies of all sizes while making her debut denim collection for Fashion Nova.
The ‘WAP’ rapper has joined forces with the brand to create her own line and wanted to make sure her jeans catered for petite, slim, curvy, and tall girls like herself.
She said: “I’m so excited for my fashion line to launch because we’re finally getting jeans for the long-leg girls, like fashion jeans have always hugged my booty real good, real tight fit, great, great stretch, but they always look like capris.
“So I was like, Fashion Nova, I don’t know what you’re gonna do, but baby we need jeans for girls that are 5’8” plus.
“Everybody not bite-sized so I’m super excited about that. The tall girls are finally getting representation, but it’s not just about tall girls. I have petite, slim, curvy, whatever we are we have the jeans for you.”
The 25-year-old star insisted it was important for her to have a collection that was made with “the real body” in mind to provide “better representation” for every woman.
Megan – who is a brand ambassador for Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty lingerie line – added to ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I just realised how big of a lack of representation there is for curvier girls, or taller girls, or girls with bigger feet.
“Everybody is not just a cookie cutter size, so I just want to make sure that starting with this collab we have better representation with just women in general. Even with short girls, the jeans are made for skinny short girls. It’s not just about the model body. It’s about the real body, so this collection definitely caters to women with curves. I say petite, too, but just the girls with the little representation that’s what my collection really caters to.”

Dua Lipa is the new face of PUMA

OHMYGOSSIP — Dua Lipa is the new face of PUMA.
The ‘New Rules’ hitmaker is set to take part in the fashion brand’s global campaigns, particularly around women’s issues and gender equality.
She wrote on Instagram: “clearly very excited to announce that i’ve joined the @puma family as their new brand ambassador!!! … Can’t wait for u to see what we have in store for ya (sic)”
Before adding in a statement: “I am so excited to announce my partnership with PUMA. From performance rehearsals to hiking in the hills, it’s important to feel comfortable & look good. I’ve got so many ideas for the projects and campaigns I’ll be taking part in and look forward to bringing them all to life with my PUMA family.”
Dua will also headline the company’s ‘She Moves Us’ campaign, which hopes to “inspire women who move together to achieve and connect through sport and culture”.
And equality is clearly a focus for Dua as she previously insisted she believes women have to “work a little bit harder to be taken seriously” in the music industry compared to men.
The 25-year-old singer said: “That’s just being a woman in the industry. A lot of people see it, particularly in pop music, that you’re manufactured or whatever, so you have this underlying pressure or anxiety to constantly prove [yourself] to people, especially when you write your own lyrics. You have to work a little bit harder to be taken seriously … To be able to use my platform to spread awareness, show support, talk about it, to make people feel seen, heard and safe, [to] communicate with charities and try to do my part as much as I can … I see that as my duty.”

Kim Kardashian West’s daughters model SKIMS Cozy Kids collection

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Kardashian West’s daughters North and Chicago modelled her new SKIMS Cozy Kids collection.
The ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ star – who also has sons Saint, four, and 18-month-old Psalm with husband Kanye West – got the sisters, who are seven and two respectively, and some of their friends to showcase the loungewear pieces from the upcoming line, which launches on November 19, in a new shoot.
And the kids’ pieces even come in matching sizes for adults.
Alongside a series of snaps from the photo shoot, including Kim wearing the same grey knitted top, trousers and slippers as North, which come in five shades, she announced on Instagram: “The drop you’ve been waiting for: NEW @SKIMS Cozy styles and our first ever sets for KIDS! Launching on Thursday November 19 in 5 colors, sizes XXS – 5X, and children’s sizes 2T – 14 at 9AM PT / 12PM ET exclusively at SKIMS.COM. She shared: “We’re doing hoodies that zip up, with the little tank. I can’t wait for you guys to see this photo shoot, first of all — North and all her friends and Chicago and all her friends.”
She added: “Look at these little robes.
“I’ve been cutting these up for North, and these are official [now]. Pants, we’re doing shorts, robes, hoodies and tanks.”
Meanwhile, Kim recently hit back at criticism of her SKIMS maternity collection, after she was accused of trying to pressure women to hide their natural figures.
The mother-of-four wrote on Twitter: “To anyone who has an issue with maternity solutionwear, and if you haven’t been pregnant before you may not know the struggle of what it’s like carrying all of this weight the way I did along with millions of strong women, @skims maternity line is not to slim but to support. (sic)”
The brunette beauty subsequently explained how and why her maternity line has been designed as it has.
She wrote on the micro-blogging platform: “The belly part doesn’t slim your belly, it’s actually sheer and a thinner layered material compared to the rest of the garment. It provides support to help with the uncomfortable weight being carried in your stomach which affects your lower back –
“and the compression on the leggings helps with pain relief caused by swelling. It is also worn after you have given birth and provides the comfort and support that most women need after delivery especially if you are recovering from a cesarean.
“We launched this category in response to the tens of thousands of pregnant women who wrote us requesting it and because it was something I personally needed when I was pregnant myself. (sic)”

Winnie Harlow lives in her boyfriend’s clothes when she’s home

OHMYGOSSIP — Winnie Harlow lives in her boyfriend’s clothes when she’s not on the catwalk.
The 26-year-old model has revealed she borrows pieces from her NBA star beau Kyle Kuzma’s wardrobe all the time because she likes being “comfortable and cosy”.
She told Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop lifestyle website: “I’m not always in the most comfortable outfits at work, so I’m often borrowing my boyfriend’s clothes. I like being comfortable and cosy, and PUMA’s Forever Luxe line accomplishes a lot of that – I could wear these pieces for hours and still feel relaxed and stylish.”
Asked to sum up her style, she said: “Comfortable athleisure with a side of glam. I love accessorising my looks to make them feel more feminine.”
Meanwhile, the ‘America’s Next Top Model’ alumni admitted that whilst she tries to prioritise well-being, it can be tricky when she’s jetting around the world for work, and sometimes she doesn’t feel like working out or eating healthy.
She explained: “It’s hard to be disciplined about it. Especially when travelling through different time zones, sleeping patterns are disrupted, food on the go isn’t always the healthiest option, and as for working out, sometimes you’re just too tired after a long day on set. But I try to make it a priority.”
Asked what wellness means to her, she said: “Being healthy holistically, working out, eating well, and taking care of myself.”
When it comes to fitness and good mental health, Winnie loves to dance away her stresses.
She said: “Being Jamaican, dancing is in my blood and a part of my culture – it’s something I’m always doing with friends and family, whether we’re out or just listening to music at home.”

Migos star Quavo acquires stake in athletic apparel brand Legends

OHMYGOSSIP — Migos rapper Quavo has acquired a minority stake in athletic apparel brand Legends.
The 29-year-old rapper – whose real name is Quavious Marshall – had invested in the firm last year and is excited to help take the brand “to the next level”.
He said: “I’m excited to officially be a part of the Legends family.
“Legends is about striving to be the best no matter what it takes, fighting to get to the top. The team is already shaking up the game with performance gear that fits the look and lifestyle of the new age athlete. Now we’ll take it to the next level.”
Legends launched just two years ago and Quavo, who has worked with them since the beginning, previously joined forces with them for his yearly ‘Huncho Day’ birthday bash.
They said: “Since 2018, we’ve worked with Quavo to merge culture and sports through product creation, building youth athletic programs, and hosting philanthropic events.
“Together we’ll continue to introduce high-quality performance apparel that helps the next generation of athletes look and feel good on and off the court. We’re just getting started.”
Legends is the brainchild of Scott Hochstadt and Chip Neff of Neff Headwear.
Quavo becoming a part-owner of Legends comes after he signed a six-figure deal with boohooMAN in April.
He said at the time: “I can’t wait for everyone to see my new collection with boohooMAN.
“They captured all the drip from my designs. You better get that Quavo swag if you want to be in style this summer. Ya dig?”

Prince Charles launches sustainable fashion collection with Yoox Net-a-Porter

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles has launched a high-end sustainable fashion collection with Yoox Net-a-Porter.
The 71-year-old royal – who is the first in line to the British throne – co-founded the The Modern Artisan project last year with students from the UK and Italy and the online retailer, and he has been “enormously impressed” by their efforts to come up with pieces that aren’t wasteful.
Charles said: “I’ve been enormously impressed by the efforts, the ideas and the vision shown by the artisans from the UK and Italy. Hopefully they will take away a great deal of skill and understanding of sustainable approaches to design and manufacturing that they can apply to their own businesses or future careers. The key for me is to rediscover the importance that nature plays, understand where natural materials come from and how they can be used in exciting and innovative ways. After all, nature is the source of everything.”
All of the money raised from the 18-piece ‘YOOX NET-A-PORTER for The Prince’s Foundation’ line will be invested back into The Prince Charles Foundation to help with their efforts to train young people as part of a new textiles training initiative.
The idea came together after Charles invited Federico Marchetti, Chairman and CEO of Yoox Net-a-Porter Group, to Dumfries House in Scotland, his foundation’s HQ.
Among the luxury pieces is a men’s belted double-breasted Merino wool camel coat with a price tag of £1250, and a double-breasted checked cashmere blazer for women costing £1,095.
Meanwhile, The Prince of Wales recently admitted he “can’t bear” to throw anything away.
Charles insisted he’d rather find “another use” for waste products, whatever they are, and branded single-use society a “tragedy” that is leading to natural resources being “over-exploited”.
He said: “I’m one of those people who hate throwing anything away… I can’t bear any waste, including food waste; I’d much rather find another use.
“Which is why I’ve been going on for so long about the need for a circular economy, rather than a linear one where you just make, take and throw away – which is a tragedy, because inevitably we over-exploit natural resources that are rapidly depleting.”
When it comes to his own clothes, Charles admitted he can’t repair and maintain as much as he used to because of his changing shape.
He said: “I’d rather have them maintained, even patched if necessary, than to abandon them.
“The difficulty is, as you get older, you tend to change shape, and it’s not so easy to fit into the clothes.”
The ‘YOOX NET-A-PORTER for The Prince’s Foundation’ collection is available to purchase via Yoox Net-a-Porter’s online stores – Net-a-Porter, Mr Porter, Yoox and The Outnet.

Blondie’s Debbie Harry launches sustainable clothing range

OHMYGOSSIP — Blondie star Debbie Harry has launched an eco-fashion collection with designers Vin + Omi.
The 75-year-old singer has teased an upcoming fashion collection called HOPE in response to the challenging times the planet is facing.
She said: “Our hope is to draw attention to the harmful effects of plastic in our environment – which is damaging human health, marine life & habitats, littering beaches and landscapes, clogging waste streams and landfills – and to educate & empower people to make a difference towards helping adjust human attitudes and behaviors about plastics while reducing global plastic pollution.”
The first drop will include two eco T-shirts and hoodies made from blends of reclaimed cotton and recycled plastic rPET fabrics.
The choice of fabrics is something that both Debbie and sustainable designing duo VIN + OMI are passionate about as plastic pollution is on the rise and the environment is suffering from an increase in consumption of plastic.
VIN + OMI added: “Our new eco collaboration with Debbie is a reaction to the zeitgeist. We love working with her and are inspired by her forward thinking and desire to do things that make a difference to the planet. She’s always very … now.”
The HOPE project is a natural continuation of the connection between Debbie and the designers as the ‘Call Me’ singer has debuted some of their boldest designs over the years including the “Stop F****** The Planet” cape which she wore on Blondie’s 2017-2019 ‘Pollinator World Tour’.
Debbie and VIN + OMI’s HOPE range is available via Shop.blondie.net/shop now.

Maren Morris’ Dolce and Gabbana CMA Awards gown set to go under the hammer for charity

OHMYGOSSIP — Maren Morris’ Dolce & Gabbana gown she wore to the CMA Awards is being auctioned off to raise funds for the Black Women’s Health Imperative.
The 30-year-old singer wowed in the black kimono-style dress on the red carpet at the ceremony at the Nashville Music Center earlier this week – where she scooped three awards, including Female Vocalist of the Year – and PEOPLE reports that she has teamed up with ChicRelief.com to sell the gown with all the proceeds going to the health charity for Black women and young girls.
Maren dedicated her win to the Black women in country music, including Linda Martell, who was the first woman of colour to play the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville in 1969.
She said in her first acceptance speech: “I have a lot of people to thank, and they’re the typical ones that lift me up and made this dream come true with me. But there are some names in my mind that I want to give recognition to, because I’m just a fan of their music and they are country as it gets.
And I just want them all to know how much we love them back. And just check out their music after this. It’s Linda Martell, Yola, Mickey Guyton, Rissi Palmer, Brittney Spencer, Rhiannon Giddens. There are so many amazing Black women that have pioneered and continue to pioneer this genre. I know they’re going to come after me; they’ve come before me. You’ve made this genre so, so beautiful. I hope you know that we see you. Thank you for making me so inspired as a singer.”
Meanwhile, ‘The Middle’ hitmaker’s stylist, Dani Michelle, told the outlet that Maren had chosen the outfit “three months” prior to the ceremony.
And due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they had to have fittings via FaceTime.
She added: “The biggest change for us is the digital aspect. I used to fly to Nashville or Maren [would come] to L.A. for fittings in between shows and appearances.
“Now we work with mood boards, shipping and FaceTime fittings. But with a great team and lots of communication, it’s been a breeze.”

Vera Wang was ‘totally shocked’ when her bra photo went viral

OHMYGOSSIP — Vera Wang was “totally shocked” when a picture of her wearing a sports bra went viral.
The 71-year-old fashion designer has admitted she didn’t expect the reaction to her wearing the Palm Angels underwear, showcasing her taut abs, to blow up the internet because the intention was for the focus to be on a pair of crystal hair clips.
She told PEOPLE: “I was totally shocked.
“To be perfectly honest, the real goal of that picture was [to feature] the hair clips I had in my hair. And hair clips don’t exactly show up that well in a picture. So we really had to minimise whatever I was wearing and to keep the focus on my hair and those crystal clips. And the fact it became about my Palm Angels workout top was so crazy.”
Her washboard stomach in the snap prompted one fan to comment: “I need my stomach to be like yours. What’s your routine?”
Prompting Wang to reply: “Work, sleep, a vodka cocktail, not much sun.”
The designer insisted she is used to the Hollywood stars she dresses being centre of attention and found the whole thing bizarre.
She continued: “I’m sort of the one that always puts the women I dress upfront. I am a fashion designer. And I have dressed some of the most amazing women over the last 30 years on the red carpet when they’ve actually won Oscars or Golden Globes or Emmys. And so I’m always the one pushing them out the door, and fixing their train at the Met Gala.”
She added: “Even my years at Vogue as a sittings editor [she worked at the magazine for 16 years before transitioning to design], I created a lot of the pictures and was always behind the camera. So I always thought of myself as somebody who, in all fairness, was the creator and not the subject matter. So it was sort of shocking. I can’t lie to you.”
