Virgil Abloh joins Ethical Fashion podcast

OHMYGOSSIP — Virgil Abloh has joined the ‘Ethical Fashion’ podcast.
The 40-year-old fashion designer appeared alongside hosts Simone Cipriani and Clare Press on the sustainable fashion show as the first-ever guest for its second season on Thursday (25.03.21).
Speaking in the episode, the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s men’s wear collection and Off-White CEO spoke of the power of social media.
He said: “An Instagram post is as much of an artwork as a 300-look fashion collection. Something I made 20 years ago as a student — like my thesis [on] architecture … is just as valid as a new Nike shoe. There is no hierarchy.”
Elsewhere, the fashion muse explained that the reason he included the traditional Ghanaian textile, kente cloth, made of handwoven cloth strips of silk and cotton, in Louis Vuitton’s show, was to show there should be a place for different cultures and traditions on the catwalk in order to not alienate people and make them feel like their history “isn’t part of the ecosystem”.
He shared: “When my dad would go to a graduation or when we had Ghana Fest in Chicago, him and all his friends would get together. He wouldn’t wear a suit, he wouldn’t wear a European suit, he would wear kente cloth … and that is a fact of my reality; it’s not pop culture.
“The reason why I put it in the Louis Vuitton show is because not sharing cultures on that stage gives people complexes and makes people think their culture isn’t part of the ecosystem … And me, if I was 14 years old and I saw a Louis Vuitton show with that music and that style and that flair, and I saw people wearing kente — I might not have been so private with my cultural heritage.”

Ashley Graham admits she’s used to not wearing a bra in lockdown

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashley Graham has gotten used to not wearing a bra in lockdown.
The 33-year-old supermodel – who has Isaac, 15 months, with husband Justin Ervin – has mostly been seen donning just a button-up shirt and nothing else amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
She told Oprah Daily: “What the people on the other end of my Zooms couldn’t see is that I was almost always not wearing anything on the bottom.
“You’d be lucky if I put a bra on; I got used to not wearing one, especially knowing I’d be popping a boob out at any given moment to feed Isaac.”
Ashley also embraced her new style for a photoshoot with WSJ magazine, where she only wore a jumper and a bra.
She explained: “Even for a cover story for WSJ. Magazine, I wore a chunky, gorgeous sweater from Khaite over a bra, with nothing on the bottom. I felt very stylish. But would I have worn that look for a photoshoot before the pandemic? Probably not.”
However, Ashley is now adamant about getting back into a routine and putting on jeans as she is determined to not sit in sweatpants.
She added: “Of course, I still have baby weight — let’s be real! But it got to a point where I told myself, ‘Okay girl, you cannot wear sweatpants all the time. It has to only be sometimes.’
“I know my husband doesn’t care at all about what I wear, but it was truly about not wanting to constantly see myself in saggy bottoms anymore. I needed that for me to feel better about me.”
Ashley previously shared how she likes to accentuate her lips when she’s taking video meetings.
She said: “If I’m hopping on a Zoom and I’m in a meeting-meeting, I’ll wear make-up. I’ll put on some chunky, beautiful mascara or I’ll do a lip. My favourite is a lip liner by Revlon in Nude, with Brazilian Tan lipstick on top. When you’re on a Zoom, you only kind of see one thing that pops out, so why not my lips?”

Nicky Hilton Rothschild announces sustainable footwear line

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicky Hilton Rothschild is launching a cruelty-free and eco-friendly footwear collection.
The Hilton hotels heiress has joined forces with her longtime friend Amanda Hearst Rønning – the great-grandaughter of business mogul William Randolph Hearst Sr. – on the French Sole’s line, which includes ballet flats made from vegan microfibre.
Nicky told WWD: “I know that the word sustainable has become such a buzzword, and I made it very clear to French Sole that the shoes were to be 100 percent sustainable, not partially.
“During the summer, I live in cotton dresses, silk dresses, cut-off jean shorts, a button down, so I really wanted something easy, fun and comfortable to pair with that.”
The footwear is named after influential women in Nicky’s life.
She explained: “When I’m designing collections, I always name pieces after women that I admire.”
The collection is available exclusively via Amanda’s online platform Maison-de-mode.com from April 1, as well as Nickyhilton.com and Frenchsoleshoes.com on April 19.
What’s more, 10 per cent of proceeds will also go back into the Amanda’s environmental and animal welfare charity, Well Beings.
Amanda admitted it was a “big deal” that Nicky introduced her to shoes that are cruelty-free.
She said: “My biggest struggle is finding really chic, well-fitting cruelty-free shoes … So it was really exciting that Nicky not only used recycled and organic materials, but she went the cruelty-free route as well, so that was a big deal for me personally.”
On their goal as a business, she said: “It’s to make sustainable fashion accessible, for people to sort of have a one-stop-shop. And then also to destigmatise it for anyone that has preconceived notions and showcase the luxury, the qualities, the beauty of so many of the brands in that space.”

Drew Barrymore took her ‘whole life’ to balance her fitness regime

OHMYGOSSIP — Drew Barrymore took her “whole life” to find the right balance when it comes to exercising.
The ’50 First Dates’ star was asked how she motivates herself to work out every day and admitted that she doesn’t always feel like exercising and will sometimes skip fitness in favour of eating better.
Answering fans’ questions on her ‘Dear Drew’ segment on ‘Entertainment Tonight’, she said: “The truth is, I don’t find the Incentivisation to work out every day.
“My best advice is, [if] you don’t feel like working out that day, that’s OK. Maybe eat better that day. If you let it go for a couple days, get [back] on it for a couple days.
“You gotta find that balance, and it took me my whole life to get there. And you hardly ever, if never, walk away from a workout going, ‘That was a waste of time.’ You always feel better.”
Elsewhere, the Flower Beauty founder gave her top tip for plucking eyebrows
She shared: “I have learned some very important rules about plucking eyebrows. First of all, wherever the hair is growing, you wanna pull in that direction. You are bound to have less ingrown hairs and avoid them altogether. Also, do not put make-up on right after fresh plucking. You’ve opened up those pores and you’re kinda putting just dirty foundation in it.”
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ has been renewed for a second season.
The ‘Blended’ star’s daytime talk show will be back on CBS later this year and has been praised by the network for being a source of optimism amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Steve LoCascio, President of CBS Media Ventures commented: “Launching a daily syndicated show during a pandemic was a challenge no daytime show has ever had to face, but Drew and everyone on this team turned every obstacle into an opportunity and delivered a big, bright, fun hour of much-needed optimism to viewers every day.
“The show truly embodies Drew’s spirit, and we’re thrilled to be able to continue to provide our stations and viewers with another high-quality season this fall.”
The 46-year-old host is thrilled to be continuing the show and hailed it as her “dream job”.
She said: “We launched this show in a pandemic, which made for a crazy, wonderful journey I never expected. This is my dream job, and I feel so lucky to get to do this for another year. I am so grateful to CBS Media Ventures and all our station partners for believing in us.”
Guests on the programme have included Cameron Diaz, Adam Sandler, Jessica Alba, and Drew’s ex-husband, Tom Green.

Kaia Gerber sprays her perfume on a mirror before dabbing it on herself

OHMYGOSSIP — Kaia Gerber sprays perfume onto a mirror first before applying it with her finger.
The 19-year-old model has revealed the unusual way she applies fragrances to her body to “control” how much she puts on.
She said: “I don’t know if this is a thing that a lot of people do, but I like to spray the fragrance onto a mirror first and that way I can use my finger to control where it goes and how much I want to apply.”
The face of Marc Jacobs’ Daisy perfume added how she will “place it in different areas [depending on her mood].”
Kaia also revealed that she has “a million” crystals scattered throughout her home.
She told British Vogue: “I’m very into crystals – I have like a million of them all over my bedroom – and I ‘charge’ them out in the moonlight, especially during a full moon. I’m a weirdo like that.”
Elsewhere, the ‘Despite Everything’ star – who is the daughter of model Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber – talked about getting experimental with her hair in lockdown and dyeing her tresses pink.
Kaia, who is almost back to her natural colour now, said: “It’s funny because it’s only been in the last six months that I decided to mess with my hair so much.”

Marc Jacobs got his second dose of COVID-19 jab in style

OHMYGOSSIP — Marc Jacobs marked getting his second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine with a glamorous selfie.
The 57-year-old designer rocked white platform boots, an animal-print jacket and a pink sequined skirt to his appointment at New York’s NYU Langone Health facility to get his final dose of the Pfizer jab this week.
He captioned a mirror selfie of him having his vaccination with his physician in shot and his ribbed body on display: “Spring has sprung and second vaccine done!
“Thank you nurse @kiyahsw You are the best! @nyulangone @pfizerinc
“#pfizercrew #prettyinpink #marshmallowsnowballrealness #gratefulnothateful (sic)”
Three weeks ago the fashion muse posted a snap of him getting the first dose in a pair of bold pink trousers and black platforms.
He wrote: “I’ve been Pfizer’d.
“Thank you nurse @kiyahsw @nyulangone @pfizerinc
“#nottodaymissrona #NYU #thankyouhealthcareworkers #feelinFauci #gratefulnothateful.”
Jacobs previously opened up about being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2010 and how he can’t resist taking his clothes off since adopting a healthy lifestyle and diet to avoid having his colon removed.
He said at the time: “I had 21 per cent body fat four years ago. I was in and out of the hospital because I had flare-ups of ulcerative colitis. I’d be in the office for 16 hours a day, six of which were in the bathroom because I was so ill. I ate nothing but junk food. Basically, the doctor said, ‘We’re going to have to remove your colon.’ And I said, ‘I’m not doing that!’
So I went to a nutritionist named Lindsey Duncan, and he said, ‘If you are 100 percent compliant with what I tell you to do, you will be in better shape than you’ve ever been in, and you will not have to have your colon removed.’ I said, ‘Okay, sign me up.’ He said no caffeine, no sugar, no white flour, no dairy from a cow, take açaí every morning, goji, noni, mangosteen, et cetera, omega-3, wheatgrass shots with ginger. The list is endless.
He said, ‘You gotta laugh every day, you gotta rest every day, and you have to perspire every day, which means you have to go to the gym.’ I hadn’t stepped foot in a gym. Well, I hadn’t walked a block in 20 years …
When guys started looking at me and asking me out on dates, I felt way better about myself. So it was hard to keep my clothes on, actually. And whenever I was asked to take my clothes off, I was like, ‘Sure! I haven’t worked out for three years to keep this all under wraps.’ Everything changed. I cut my hair, I got contact lenses, I started to groom and get manicures and pedicures. I started to get my hair cut every two weeks.”

She told WSJ magazine: “I’m obsessed with my skin and have always taken really good care of it.
“I had my first facial when I was a very young girl and just never stopped, really. It was always a priority … About four or five years ago, I decided to formulate a skincare line … I had some samples done up.
“So I do have a skincare line that I love that’s ready to go … When the time is right, a year from now, maybe two — I just think it’s really important for older women to realise that if they just take care of their skin, it’s not complicated.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Anaïs Gallagher has photographed the likes of Rina Lipa, Roman Kemp and Lady Leshurr for a Coca-Cola campaign.
The 21-year-old model – who is the daughter of Noel Gallagher and his ex-wife Meg Matthews – was tasked with capturing portraits of several famous faces, including Dua Lipa’s model sister Rina, 19, the Capital FM DJ, 28, and the 32-year-old rapper and 2021 ‘Dancing on Ice’ contestant, taking their first sip of the fizzy drink.
The series is part of the brand’s Open That Coca-Cola campaign, which is about the “indescribable feeling of drinking that first sip of Coca-Cola”.
A poll carried out by Coca-Cola found that  25 per cent of Brits find the taste of Coke to be indescribable.
Anaïs also snapped influencer Saffron Barker, ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’ finalist Tayce, and ‘It’s A Sin’ actor Nathaniel Hall for the project.
She said: “Working with Coca-Cola on this shoot was such a fun challenge. I got to use my artistic outlet to bring to life a sensation that’s impossibly hard to put into words. So instead, we captured it in images!”
Rina said: “Describing drinking a Coke is hard, but it makes me think of good times, making memories and of summer.”
Nathaniel – who played Donald Bassett in the acclaimed drama ‘It’s A Sin’  – commented: “Communicating the feeling of drinking a Coke through facial expressions has been so much fun. And no acting required!”
Roman added: “I used to genuinely believe that going AAAAHH! after a sip of Coca-Cola makes it taste better and now, I can’t help but do it!”
Anaïs – who enrolled at art college in 2018 – has photographed musicians such as Sam Fender, Yungblud, Blossoms, Inhaler, and her ex-Oasis rocker dad Noel.
She said previously of her studies: “I’m just powering on with university and putting most work on hold at the moment so I can focus on my photography studies. I’m not sure particularly what I want to do yet but I’m trying to go down that route.”
Anaïs’ work can be found on her separate photography Instagram page with the handle @a.gallagher.photos.

Tracee Ellis Ross: Girlfriends inspired my haircare line

OHMYGOSSIP — Tracee Ellis Ross says ‘Girlfriends’ inspired her haircare line.
The 48-year-old actress – who starred as Joan Clayton on the sitcom from 2000 to 2008 – struggled to find the right products for her curls for years and realised she wasn’t alone when she joined the cast of the popular show.
Speaking on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, she said: “It started out for me because I couldn’t find products and wasn’t seeing my natural beauty mirrored back to me in the world. Then when I got on ‘Girlfriends’, I realised that I was not the only one. There were so many people who were looking for products that actually met their hair where it was and how it grows out of our head.”
“So I tried, and tried, and tried for 10 years, and finally I decided to do it by myself. It’s been the most rewarding thing to be a CEO and founder.”
Tracee launched Pattern Beauty, in 2019 with shampoos, conditioners, gels, creams, tools, and more.
And though the ‘The High Note’ star has since learned to love her tresses, she is not yet ready to embrace her greys.
She explained: “My hair has played many a role throughout my life. When I was a teen, I didn’t understand it so I tried everything under the sun to make it do what I thought it should. The results were not great. Namely, it was fried. But, once I began listening to my hair and started figuring out what it liked, my true curl pattern emerged. By the time I made it onto ‘Girlfriends’ my hair was healthy and POPPIN. But as I have grown and matured my texture has evolved.
“My hair is now turning grey (evidence of my life and my years). And while the grey has changed my texture and the dye I use to cover it has loosened my pattern, I finally know my hair inside and out. I know what she likes, what she doesn’t like, and how she’ll react in any given situation. And while I’m not ready to embrace the grey just yet, I’m sure that will be exciting when I do! (sic)”

This creates a more meaningful impact on our mind, body, and practice; allowing us space for peace and tranquility to simply exhale.”
The Exhale line is available online at Puma and at their New York City flagship and select retailers.

Jeff Spires shares tips to ease anxiety ahead of lockdown ending

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeff Spires has advised people to “learn how to re-socialise” ahead of the lifting of lockdown restrictions.
The RWL life coach has offered some tips to help reduce anxiety about the upcoming easing of social rules after a study found 41% of women feel anxious about returning to life, 56% of females want restrictions to stay in place so they don’t have to socialise and 67% of women will be turning down events when lockdown ends.
Jeff suggested: “Whether you were the life and soul of the party before lockdown, or have always found social situations a challenge, learning how to re-socialise can be a powerful tool in helping you take control of your life.”
He also urged people to undertake “practice runs” of new routines to stop feeling overwhelmed and to just make changes one step at a time.
The study found 59% of women feel anxious about spending money when the restrictions lift but as well as reassuring people they can say no to invitations without guilt, Jeff suggested reframing the mindset in order to feel comfortable with splashing out again.
He explained: “Saving money has been a huge positive for many people in lockdown so the prospect of suddenly feeling that they are going to lose control of this by spending on social situations can bring on unexpected anxiety.
“Firstly, remember that you don’t have to spend money to be social – so don’t be afraid to suggest a picnic in the park instead of a day in a beer garden. Secondly, this is about allowing yourself to have fun again.
“Remember, the brain works against us to stop us having extreme fun, but telling yourself that it’s ok to have fun and spend some money can be a powerful way of letting go of financial anxiety.”
