Sir Elton John’s debut eyewear collection was a ‘labour of love’

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Elton John’s debut Eyewear line was a real “labour of love”.
The ‘I’m Still Standing’ hitmaker – who is known for his extensive hoard of eccentric lenses – has partnered with Sam’s Club and Walmart on a career-spanning collection.
And the ‘Your Song’ singer has explained how he wanted to ensure each set of frames became a “true reflection” of how he was feeling in the moment.
Speaking to People, he said: “Creating Elton John Eyewear has been a labour of love and an incredible personal journey through my career and the fashion that brought me centre stage with every performance. My eyewear has always been a bit symbolic for me, it’s been a true reflection of how I feel and what I want to portray creatively in that moment.”
One pair is named ‘Rocketman’ after his 1972 mega-hit and the blockbuster biopic of the same name, while another set is dubbed ‘Prodigy’ in homage to Elton being a child prodigy on the piano.
Each pair comes emblazoned with an “E” and the frames are priced between $95 to $100.
The 74-year-old music legend said in a statement: “Elton John Eyewear celebrates confidence, self-expression and authenticity.
“The line is designed to have something for everyone, so no matter who you are, you can always look yourself. It’s not just about glasses, it’s about changing the way people see themselves.”
Walmart is donating at least $1 million per year from the sales of the glasses to the ‘Tiny Dancer’ hitmaker’s AIDS Foundation.
The eyewear launch comes days after Elton revealed he still has many of the frames he’s worn on stage, including his famous oversized star-shaped lenses.
However, he finds it impossible to pick a favourite.
Asked if he could name his most-loved pair, the ‘Crocodile Rock’ hitmaker said: “Not really because I’ve got so many I can choose whatever mood I’m in. I’m you know I’m very lucky to have so much to choose from.”
Asked: “How many do you have?”, Elton replied: “Oh god I’m not sure I mean it’s in the thousands. It has to be yeah but I’ve been collecting them ever since 1970 when I started wearing the stars and all the crazy glasses I still have most of them.”

She confessed: “I did cupcakes to weight loss pills all at the same time. I’m just so grateful that I have my own brand now. I would do all of that and then wear shapewear on top. It was all contradictory.
“I’ve always liked to come up with solutions and I’m just really thankful.”
The collection, which drops on the new website fendiskims.com, comes in a range of “bold colourways, including a fuschia pink shade.

And Posh Spice, 47, – who collaborated with him on her own shoe collection – hailed Manolo for doing “toe cleavage” like no other.
She said: “I have wonderful memories of Manolo sitting in my studio when we collaborated on shoes for one of my collections. Hilton matriarch, Kathy Hilton, 62, said her collection of Manolos will remain in her closet forever.

Coco Rocha: All models have a bad experience

OHMYGOSSIP — Coco Rocha says “all models” have had a “bad experience” or faced “abuse” at some point in their careers.
The 33-year-old beauty founded the Coco Rocha Model Camp in 2018 to ensure future generations of models don’t have to suffer like those who have come before them.
Speaking to Page Six Style, the mother-of-three said: “The stuff models have to deal with, the abuse, I don’t think people realise.
“It happens to all models, as much as you think the top models don’t experience that.”
Coco – who has Ioni, six, Iver, three, and Iley, 11 months, with husband James Conran – said of her program: “There [are] hours and hours where I discuss what your rights are as a model, as a human. What you might experience, what you should never experience, all of it. I have experienced the bad, the good and the amazing. And I want them to just experience the good and the amazing.”
Coco also discussed her struggle with her body image as a teenager and how she went to great lengths to try and change her physique only for it to interfere with her menstrual cycle.
She added: “When I was 16, 17, I was eating a very particular diet, working out to the point where I lost my period for a year.”
Meanwhile, Coco previously shared how she became more selective about the jobs she takes on after becoming a parent.
She said: “Now that I’m a mom when it comes to campaigns and editorials, I look at the bigger story. I ask if that’s a good fit for the Coco brand, should I work with every editorial that comes my way, every brand. It’s about pinpointing what’s good.
“Early on, I would do any job that was brought to me. But then I stood back one second and realised that I didn’t have a life. My agents had lives. They could book me a job and go out to dinner with their friends and I’d be off shooting somewhere. I was overwhelmed. I started dating my now-husband and realised that I was enjoying life a lot more.
“I didn’t want to be consumed by my career. Now we have a baby girl and that’s what grounds me. I travel as much as I can with my family. My hair and make-up team are people that I absolutely love, who make me laugh. We’re not curing cancer. We’re going to do our jobs, doing it well, and realise we can have fun.”

Jennifer Aniston: My hair’s gone through a lot of thrashing

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Aniston’s hair has “gone through a lot of thrashing”.
The former ‘Friends’ actress’ locks have taken a battering over the years and that’s why she wanted to launch the LolaVie’s Glossing Detangler.
The 52-year-old star – whose character Rachael Green was known for her various hairstyles in the 90s sitcom, including the signature bob dubbed ‘The Rachel’ – told Allure: “I love a really good detangler because my hair has been through so much thrashing.”
The ‘Morning Show’ star wanted to create a product that is “time-efficient”.
She explained: “We’ve been in development for almost five years. I had been involved in another hair company years ago, and that’s where I got the bug to go behind the scenes of ingredients and the process of development and marketing and all of that.
“I love a product to have many jobs in one, so it has a heat protector and shine, and it’s so time-efficient.”
The ‘Horrible Bosses’ star insisted she keeps her hair routine simple.
She explained how it entails “basically washing and conditioning it, putting the detangler on, brushing it through, putting it up in a towel for 10 minutes, and then I either blow it out or let it dry naturally.”
Jennifer previously hailed the $25 cruelty-free and vegan detangler “the Swiss army knife of hair products”.
The Hollywood star said that the inspiration to release a detangler came from making her “biggest” hair” faux-pas when she was a teenager, lobbing off her waist-length locks.
She said: “There’s not one strand that’s doing the same thing.
“I had this incredible head of hair that was long and straight and down to my waist. And I always wanted to cut it.
“[My mom] said, ‘When you’re 13, you can do whatever you want.’ And that was the biggest mistake I ever made because I cut it all off.”
LolaVie is planning to launch a range of products.

Angelina Jolie lets her kids raid her closet

OHMYGOSSIP — Angelina Jolie lets her kids raid her closet.
The ‘Eternals’ actress says that her six children – Maddox, 20, Pax, 17, Sahara, 16, Shiloh, 15, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 13 – can take whatever they want from her wardrobe.
The 46-year-old star told E! News ‘Daily Pop’: “Oh my god, wear it and wear it better than me. Take it, it’s your turn.”
Sahara hit the Los Angeles premiere of her mom’s latest Marvel movie wearing her 2014 Academy Awards look, a sparkly Elie Saab Haute Couture gown.
While her younger sister Shiloh sported a tailored version of a beige Gabriela Heart slip dress that the ‘Lara Croft: Tomb Raider’ star wore at an event in Paris.
Angelina commented to ‘Entertainment Tonight’ of her red carpet appearance with five of her children: “My kids are all mixed with vintage, and in my old Oscars dress. We did all vintage and upcycled my old stuff.”
The ‘Salt’ star was the only one to wear a completely new look, wowing in a Balmain gown from the label’s Resort 2022 collection, which she accessorised with vintage Tiffany & C.o jewellery and a cuff from Nina Berenato.
Meanwhile, Angelina admitted this week that she is “not a perfect parent”.
The Hollywood star insisted she still has doubts about her parenting skills to her six children – whom she has with ex-husband Brad Pitt –
She shared: “I’m not a perfect parent by any means. Every day I feel like I’m more aware of everything I don’t do right. And I’m pretty tough on myself, because I feel often, ‘Am I doing the right thing? Did I says the right thing?'”
The Oscar-winning star also gushed that she is loving watching her kids as they grow up and develop their own unique personalities.
She said: “I have six very individual human beings in my home. I am so excited about all the different stages and feelings and curiosities that they go through. Why wouldn’t you be?”
“We’re supposed to help them figure out who they are. And you can’t figure out who they are if you don’t enthusiastically develop with them.”
Angelina also thinks that her children have had “a very significant effect on each other”.
She explained: “They’re pretty great people, and because there’s so many of them, I think they’ve had a very significant effect on each other. It’s not like I’m the head of anything. I’m very honest with my kids. And I’m very human with my kids.”

Michael B. Jordan launches sustainable capsule collection for Coach

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael B. Jordan has created a sustainable capsule collection for Coach.
The ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’ actor has worked with the brand to create a genderless line from 100 per cent recycled materials, which combines the signature mummified art of Blue the Great and the label’s Signature and Rexy models.
On his relationship with the Los Angeles-based artist, the 34-year-old actor told WWD: “I’ve always been a fan of his artwork, but I got an opportunity to meet him years ago. We’ve always been super cool. We’ve kicked it. He DJs a bunch at the house or wherever we are. We’ve always wanted to support one another.”
The unisex range features classic items from the American brand with an updated twist.
Blue wanted to implement the mummy motif as it was something he had been experimenting with some time.
He said: “It’s something I’ve been having fun with, building a signature identity with paint. I knew it would be something with mummies.”
Michael revealed Coach’s creative director Stuart Vevers taught him the importance of taking “risks” in fashion.
He said: “The first time I got a chance to design with Stuart was a learning process. To take the ideas I had and incorporate them into pieces that I love wearing – hoodies, backpacks, stuff of that nature. I thought that was pretty cool.
“One of the biggest things I’ve learnt since our collaboration is that there’s no right way to do it, as long as you’re passionate and care about it. You have to take risks and swings. Sometimes more than not, they pay off.”
Micahel added that the collection – including backpacks and hoodies – can be “mixed and matched with other things that you want to assemble your outfit with. You can just go head-to-toe from the collection.”
Both Michael and Blue model for the line.
‘Michael B. Jordan x Coach’ is available to shop now.

Lucy Boynton lost lashes to ceiling fan

OHMYGOSSIP — Lucy Boynton lost half her eyelashes when she walked into a ceiling fan.
The ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ actress is getting “really paranoid” that she should do more to take care of her enviable eyelashes and eyebrows because she doesn’t do anything for maintenance at the moment but she also feels really lucky that they grew back quickly after her accident.
She said: “My dad takes all the credit for them. I got a combination of his long lashes and my mom’s really dark eyelashes and brows – I’m very lucky.
“I actually don’t do anything to care for them, and I’m starting to get really paranoid that I should. I actually walked into a ceiling fan at the end of last year and half of them ripped out, but thankfully, they’ve very quickly grown back to my huge relief.”
The 27-year-old beauty admitted she “shouldn’t have hair left” now because she has dyed it so many times, but she’s learned to use the right products to still keep her locks in good condition.
She told HarpersBazaar.com: “Mark Selley at Nicky Clarke in London for the blonde-blonde. He’s just brilliant. He also does all my hair colour for my projects. I’m surrounded by very talented people and very lucky!
“I guess the short hair lends itself to preserving that kind of blonde as well. Mark is amazing. I mean, I probably shouldn’t have hair left with the amount that I’ve had to dye it. I met him because for a film I was doing, I had to go from black hair to blonde hair in one day, and he managed to do it in a way that I actually still left with shiny hair.
“I use Olaplex No.3 – that has really saved my hair – and the Christophe Robin Baby Blonde blue hair mask has been great. A lot of those purple shampoos can end up leaving your scalp a bit lilac, which is also kind of fun but not always the desired look. The Christophe Robin one you can leave on for, like, ages and it doesn’t do that; it just takes out all the kind of warmth. I really love that icy-blonde look.”

Tamera Mowry shares her secret to youthful skin

OHMYGOSSIP — Tamera Mowry believes sunscreen has helped her age “backward”.
The 43-year-old star has revealed that applying sun cream is one skincare step that she’ll never skip, as it’s helped her to maintain her youthtful appearance.
Tamera – who previously starred alongside her twin sister Tia Mowry in the sitcom ‘Sister, Sister’ – told Byrdie: “As women of colour, we still need sunscreen. People say I still look young, and I’m ageing backward. I think wearing sunscreen is what’s helped me. Supergoop has fantastic sunscreen.”
The actress has also shared some of her hair care secrets.
She said: “I learned you have to make sure you’re using the right brush when brushing curly hair because your hair can easily snap. I’ve also learned a technique called raking.
“It’s really important to detangle your hair with your hands and some conditioner.
“With your hands, you’ll be able to feel the state of your hair, and you can see how much is coming out. It’s also really important to do a deep condition.
“I’m always busy, so I forget to do it because you have to let it sit on your hair for 20 minutes. I really don’t have 20 minutes, but I’m forcing myself to deep condition and take care of these curls.”
Tamera also recommends “drinking lots of water” and not falling asleep with make-up on.
Asked what advice she would offer for maintaining healthy-looking skin, she said: “Don’t sleep in your make-up. That’s the number one thing.
“When I was younger and would go partying, I would come home tired and not take my makeup off. You take your young skin for granted. But eventually, your pores will get clogged, and you will break out.
“Another thing is to drink lots of water. When you drink lots of water, your skin has a natural glow.”

Miley Cyrus thought representing Gucci was a mistake

OHMYGOSSIP — Miley Cyrus thought it was a “mistake” when she was asked to become the face of a Gucci fragrance.
The 28-year-old singer has become the face of the new Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia perfume – but Miley initially thought that she wasn’t right for the role and that Alessandro Michele, the creative director of Gucci, was making a mistake.
Miley said: “Alessandro saw me in this soft, vulnerable, light, whimsical state that I couldn’t see.”
The pop star actually cautioned Alessandro against hiring her.
She told Interview magazine: “I had on these glasses and, like, a big Gucci hat and all black and I was telling him, ‘You know, I always know when something is right for me and I don’t think I’m the right girl. I think you made a mistake. I don’t think that I represent the Flora Fantasy. I think I’m very heavy.'”
By contrast, Miley now views the partnership as a break from the “darkness” created by the pandemic and other issues.
She said: “There was so much darkness and there was so much heaviness and it was right in the middle of the pandemic and the protest and the politics of it all.
“We were right in the middle of presidential campaigns and it was so heavy. The Flora Fantasy was truly an escape for myself at the time and I think it will be for everyone.”
Miley also revealed that the perfume reminding her of her late Grandmother.
She said: “When it comes to what the Flora Fantasy meant to me, again I started talking to Alessandro in October of 2020, and I had lost my grandmother.
“Part of her identity to all of us, her grandkids, was floral, because honey, she wore it. The wallpaper was floral, the couch, everything. In her dying days that was how we knew we could get her to light up with life, was flower.
“For me personally, when I use the gardenia, it’s not on a physical level, it’s, like, this overwhelming sense that my grandmother is around.”

The ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker teamed up with jeweller Cathy Waterman and her daughter, Claire Winter Kislinger, on the replica of the dazzling $7,390 diamond ‘Love’ sparkler – which she gifted the pop megastar when she was making the record in 2011.

Taylor’s friend, Claire, added: “Our friendship has always been really important to me. Taylor is such a steady, reliable friend. ‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’ is set to follow April’s ‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version)’, the new recording of her 2008 album.
Taylor decided to re-record her early albums after Scooter Braun purchased her former record label, Big Machine Label Group, for $300 million, and with it acquired the rights to her back catalogue.
Scooter’s Ithaca Holdings then sold the catalogue to Shamrock Holdings.
After the purchase, Taylor claimed she was never offered the chance to buy her own master recordings.
On her plans to re-record her records, she said: “It’s going to be fun, because it’ll feel like regaining a freedom and taking back what’s mine.
“When I created [these songs], I didn’t know what they would grow up to be. Going back in and knowing that it meant something to people is actually a really beautiful way to celebrate what the fans have done for my music.”
‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version)’ did not disappoint, with six new tracks and duets with Keith Urban and Maren Morris.
‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’ drops on November 12 and the new merch range is available from taylorswift.com.
